00:01:20.100 Plus, what is going on with Trump's new press secretary?
00:01:23.040 We've got thoughts.
00:01:24.040 She's been making the rounds on Fox and it's been brutal.
00:01:27.200 But first, more breaking news about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. 0.96
00:01:32.940 Buckle up. 0.98
00:01:34.160 As we've been reporting, she's under federal investigation for possible immigration fraud, 0.93
00:01:39.080 among other fraud.
00:01:40.200 The feds are probing whether Omar or her father may have changed her citizen application to
00:01:48.180 show that she was just 17 years old instead of 18 years old at the time they were seeking
00:01:54.900 her naturalization.
00:01:57.200 if they sought her naturalization. More on that in a second.

00:02:21.020 into their name and then take your ownership. They use it to take out loans or to sell it for
00:02:27.880 a quick cash. It's all called title fraud and it's happening all over America. That's why there's

00:03:06.960 already a victim. The AI threat is real. Don't let scammers have the upper hand. That's HOMETITLELock.com
00:03:14.060 promo code MEGAN30 to get peace of mind today. If she was 17, as she now claims, then she could 0.98
00:03:22.220 have legally become a citizen at the same time as her father, if her father had filled out the
00:03:28.700 necessary paperwork. If she was actually 18, she would have been required to go through the
00:03:32.960 immigration process independently. Now, Omar and her father came to the United States in 1995 as
00:03:39.120 Somali refugees via Kenya and supposedly became citizens in 2000 when they were allegedly
00:03:49.260 naturalized. They'd been here five years as refugees, then after five years became citizens
00:03:57.060 thanks to naturalization. Or so she claims. Federal agents raided her D.C. residence on
00:04:05.200 Monday. And while her husband has been seen there recently, Representative Omar's whereabouts
00:04:09.360 are unknown. Where is she? Where's her sister? Here's Jesse Waters' report last night,
00:04:17.860 which includes Fox News Digital catching up with Omar's husband, Tim Minette. Watch.
00:04:23.560 Day four of World War 11, the investigation into Ilhan Omar and no ceasefire in sight.
00:04:29.860 On Monday, agents raided her house. Tonight, Fox is learning she was inside the house when they
00:04:34.940 came now it appears she's gone into hiding we've seen her husband every day outside their dc home
00:04:40.740 but the question everyone's asking is where's omar there are rumors that the congresswoman
00:04:47.060 left the country is that true or she's she's still going the hell out of all the neighbors around
00:04:52.360 here man and then there's her sister sarah noor who's reportedly been subpoenaed along with 11
00:05:00.000 other people in omar's inner circle so last we heard the feds are still trying to reach her
00:05:05.660 which is weird because she's on tour right now in minnesota she's based in kenya moved back to
00:05:13.680 africa in 2024 but this month she's back in the u.s of a hawking a book her memoir salt in the snow
00:05:22.280 omar is still posting on social media celebrating a piece in the washington post which i'll get to
00:05:29.200 in a minute, which reported that the Department of Homeland Security during the first Trump
00:05:33.080 administration back in 2019 looked into Omar's citizenship issues and found insufficient evidence
00:05:40.720 of wrongdoing. There's a lot more to the Washington Post report than that.
00:05:47.320 That's a great headline. Insufficient evidence. I mean, it's not that great.
00:05:51.580 No evidence of wrongdoing would be better. Insufficient is a judgment call. And I, for one,
00:05:57.780 have questions about why these alleged immigration officials who purportedly worked on that probe
00:06:03.500 are speaking to the Washington Post. Guaranteed. And by the way, they're all ex-immigration
00:06:09.120 officials now per the Post. So you tell me why an immigration official that was there during Trump
00:06:15.580 one who would run to the Washington Post to say, oh, there was insufficient evidence when we looked
00:06:21.080 into this and raise questions about whether this is a proper inquiry to begin with.
00:06:26.980 Now, why would they do that? Clearly, these are Democrats who were part of a left wing piece that
00:06:34.480 of the administration that Trump inherited, who were on Team Omar, because this is not over,
00:06:40.860 not by far. And there are some glaring questions about Ilhan Omar's immigration history that even
00:06:47.380 CNN was wrestling with yesterday. You should have seen poor Jake Tapper. He was looking for any way
00:06:53.260 out of the maze and couldn't find it. OK, but insufficient evidence of wrongdoing at the time
00:06:59.800 the immigration officials allegedly looked into this, according to The Washington Post, in 2019.
00:07:05.880 So Ilhan Omar now spiking the ball thanks to her pals at The Washington Post who are trying to
00:07:11.460 whitewash her, writing her history, writing, quote, thank you to everyone who stood with me
00:07:16.840 over the years. It's been a scary journey, but I've always been grounded in my work and ability
00:07:22.160 to provide exemplary service to my constituents. Trump and his admin have been after me since I
00:07:27.700 arrived in Congress. I've always stood up to him and that will never change. The pedophile
00:07:31.660 protector will never silence me. Missing from there is I am a legitimate US citizen and can
00:07:36.620 prove it. Where's that? This woman's in trouble. She's in trouble. Here's the problem for her.
00:07:50.260 Okay. This Washington Post piece says, we looked into whether the father was working for some
00:07:57.180 warlord and shouldn't have been granted asylum as an alleged educator or refugee status and then
00:08:03.820 allowed to naturalize. We looked into that and we didn't find sufficient evidence of it. Again,
00:08:09.680 here we are. Insufficient evidence of that. So yeah, we just, the quote in the Washington Post
00:08:15.280 is, I think her citizenship is solid. I think, says this former official, one former official
00:08:21.960 familiar with the earlier effort. I think her citizenship is solid and there wasn't any fraud
00:08:27.920 there. That's what he thinks based on insufficient evidence. Okay. Um, but they point out that,
00:08:36.960 uh, okay, hold on a second. I'm trying to look for the quote. I can't find it, but I'll get to
00:08:43.520 it. In any event, they don't have hardcore evidence disproving any of this. All right.
00:08:48.440 And they barely looked into it. That's what the Washington post piece also makes clear.
00:08:52.480 They began a preliminary inquiry, and then they started a swift review examining her history.
00:09:00.320 Her family's past is Somali refugees and rumors that had circulated for years in conservative media over her marriage.
00:09:07.580 Homeland security investigations, the investigative arm of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ultimately determined that there was insufficient evidence of wrongdoing.
00:09:16.120 one of the former officials said, the idea of pursuing a full investigation was eventually
00:09:22.220 abandoned. So they did a swift preliminary review that led to one guy saying he thinks
00:09:30.720 her citizenship is solid and there wasn't any fraud there, but they abandoned a full investigation.
00:09:37.020 OK, that's the big scoop from The Washington Post today attempting to push us all off of this.
00:09:43.520 There's no there there. Move on. This is a non-story. Oh, wait, it's already been investigated. It's done. All right. But here's the problem for Ilhan Omar. There is the possibility. I don't know whether they've got the documentation.
00:09:59.000 OK, this guy seems to be suggesting they looked into something, something around the dad's naturalization in 2000 and the attempt to naturalize Ilhan Omar.
00:10:09.800 What did he see? What document did you look at, sir?
00:10:14.940 Where's the excerpt of it in The Washington Post?
00:10:17.820 What the Post is reporting is, oh, they they talked about it orally because they were worried about putting something down in writing and emailing it to each other.
00:10:29.620 So there may have been a memo, but it was only discussed in a meeting because no one wanted to email.
00:10:34.900 What? Why? This stinks to high heaven.
00:10:39.480 And here's the reason I would have said this even without this, A.J. Kern, that that whole story smells. 0.82
00:10:44.260 But there is the matter of former congressional candidate and Ilhan Omar primary opponent, A.J. Kern, who we played to you earlier this week.
00:10:54.000 She did her own investigation.
00:10:55.840 She had a feeling she was running against somebody who might not be a lawful citizen.
00:10:59.820 And she found that Omar's father might never have been naturalized.
00:11:06.740 He might never have become a citizen at all.
00:11:11.560 We played you the soundbite where she went to the local office and got them on camera saying they don't verify somebody's citizenship when they try to run for office.
00:11:21.480 And apparently, unbeknownst to most of us, they don't even verify that when you've won your race and you're about to be sworn in.
00:11:27.800 No one ever verifies that you're actually a U.S. citizen.
00:11:33.600 It's just an honor system.
00:11:35.160 And then we played you earlier this week that she contacted immigration officials via two different official lanes and demanded to see the paperwork that would prove Ilhan Omar and, of course, her dad, since her citizenship was derivative, if at all, had lawfully become citizens of the United States by naturalizing in 2000, as has been Ilhan Omar's story.
00:12:01.300 And the reporting was they said they had no documentation that Kern was told via both lanes, immigration officials in the admin at the time.
00:12:13.440 This is 2019. There was no paperwork. They could find none.
00:12:18.060 Well, our pal Benny Johnson had A.J. Kern on yesterday and talked about what exactly she did after Omar's father passed away from complications from covid back in 2020.
00:12:31.300 So when he passed away, I did submit to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and it took about a year.
00:12:42.260 And so I have a letter that's dated June 20th, 2023. 0.88
00:12:47.320 And June 20th, it happens to be Refugee Day, which I thought, OK, God has a sense of humor.
00:12:53.640 So I was happy about it. 0.99
00:12:55.140 And it said that after a thorough search of their records using all variations of her father's name, there's no naturalization records.
00:13:06.480 And they informed me that I could also request that the Department of Homeland Security look at their database, which I did.
00:13:14.780 So in September, I, in 2023, I received a certificate of non-existence of record from DHS.
00:13:27.220 So to me, it was like, OK, now we have these two documents showing that he's not in the database.
00:13:34.880 He didn't naturalize.
00:13:37.020 He's not in the database and he didn't naturalize.
00:13:40.320 This is a U.S. congressional candidate at this point, former, trying to seek the records to find out whether the person who beat her in the primary and went on to win the general was, in fact, a U.S. citizen.
00:13:53.700 And she is being told, she says, by DHS that she was given a certificate of nonexistence of record.
00:14:01.160 They don't have his records.
00:14:03.280 Now, what The Washington Post reports is that the 2019 review that they're reporting on their big scoop of Omar looked at other issues, some of which are being examined anew.
00:14:14.780 For example, back then, Immigration Services quickly determined it could not accurately answer questions over Omar's age because refugees frequently come from countries with little or no birth records, making it hard to determine with any certainty.
00:14:31.500 Quote, that's not strange and that's not a red flag to me, one of the former officials said.
00:14:36.360 It's just very, very common that there aren't great birth records.
00:14:40.460 The agency also examined Omar's father's immigration file, but did not find any issues, according to the former formal official.
00:14:50.240 What does that mean?
00:14:51.180 You did not find any issues because we have an official response from the Department of Homeland Security that they could not find any records of the father's naturalization.
00:15:04.380 So which is it? And why doesn't The Washington Post deal with A.J. Kern at all? At all?
00:15:13.260 We contacted DHS on what Kern said.
00:15:17.040 they referred us to DOJ, and we are still waiting to hear back, and I'll bet we will be able to get
00:15:21.420 some information because we do know some people in the admin. Now, no one's going to get ahead
00:15:25.840 of their skis in terms of the litigation that may be getting started, either civil or criminal,
00:15:30.500 but we are going to get to the bottom of this. Trust me. Here's what Andy McCarthy was saying
00:15:38.760 on his podcast over on NR,
00:15:41.360 which is always well worth your time.
00:15:44.100 He was raising a very valid point,
00:15:48.360 which is when have you heard 0.99
00:15:50.320 of somebody coming over here as a refugee
00:15:52.900 and within five years being granted citizenship,
00:15:57.600 full citizenship?
00:15:59.660 Normally there are steps
00:16:01.300 and one of them might be a permission to work.
00:16:05.600 One of them might be a more sweeping permission to work
00:16:08.300 like a green card. But all of that would happen before you would get the full citizenship. Five
00:16:15.720 years? This guy who came from Somalia with a brief stopover in Kenya? I mean, this is 2000.
00:16:24.100 This is before the Joe Biden administration where everybody got waved in. And this guy
00:16:28.160 suddenly got naturalized with no questions asked, notwithstanding his very sketchy history,
00:16:35.340 having served as a colonel in the army for this guy who allegedly killed between 50 and 200,000
00:16:40.400 civilians and nobody that didn't get a red flag at all they just waved him right in
00:16:45.660 and now they suddenly can't find his paperwork what Andy McCarthy was suggesting he's a very
00:16:54.120 smart man was this guy may never have been naturalized at all which would mean Ilhan
00:17:03.600 Omar was never naturalized at all, which would mean Ilhan Omar is an illegal.
00:17:12.180 Ilhan Omar may be an illegal alien.
00:17:16.220 Not not somebody whose naturalization has problems, not someone with bad paperwork that
00:17:22.480 needed to be amended or may have been manipulated, someone who came here and never had permission
00:17:28.920 to stay and made up a lie or went along with the lies of her father that she ever had the
00:17:36.340 permission. I don't know whether that's true. This Washington Post article is talking about,
00:17:43.120 as I read, they examined Omar's father's immigration file but did not find any issues.
00:17:49.100 How does that square with what A.J. Kern is telling us? That she received a certification
00:17:53.860 from DHS of non existence of records. I mean, this is potentially huge. This is potentially huge.
00:18:05.400 We may have a non citizen, an illegal alien serving in the U.S. Congress. By the way,
00:18:10.020 just in case you're wondering, read the Constitution. That is not allowed. You must
00:18:14.700 be a U.S. citizen to serve in the U.S. Congress. Check Article One. And now there's more about
00:18:21.000 her brusband. All right. Because that, too, remains out there as one piece of her alleged
00:18:30.820 fraud problems. Now, again, the statute of limitations on this would have run as a criminal
00:18:36.700 matter. But we were told we heard Brian Kilmeade and others suggest this could potentially be a
00:18:42.280 RICO case. And while we haven't seen the warrant that justified the search of her D.C. apartment,
00:18:47.740 We do know that one of the things alleged was conspiracy.
00:18:51.640 Now, Rico is racketeering conspiracy.
00:18:54.160 Remember, they tried this against Trump in Atlanta when they when Fannie Willis was going after him.
00:18:58.800 And it's basically you've committed multiple crimes, many of which the statute of limitations might have run on.
00:19:03.720 But I'm going to get you for being an overall an overall sort of crime lord.
00:19:07.840 And they tried this against Trump.
00:19:09.640 And it could be that they're going to try this against Ilhan Omar if there are multiple immigration frauds and possibly other frauds that she's committed.
00:19:18.160 I don't know what they have.
00:19:19.980 But if this is a RICO case, then the Bresbend is back in business, even though the statute of limitations on that may have run.
00:19:27.380 And that Bresbend's name, for new listeners, we're calling her brother slash husband, the Bresbend, his name is Ahmed Ermi.
00:19:36.620 And Ermi is Omar's last name.
00:19:38.900 Omar's not her last name.
00:19:40.520 Basically, she was in Somalia and some family named Omar was about to get over here on refugee status.
00:19:45.800 And they agreed to take Ilan, her dad, and her sister and rename them Omars so that they could get in too.
00:19:53.460 But her real last name is Ermi.
00:19:55.480 And who did she marry?
00:19:57.420 A few years, Elmi.
00:19:59.120 Elmi.
00:19:59.780 Who did she marry?
00:20:00.620 A few years after her religious ceremony to the father of her children, which didn't count legally.
00:20:07.340 her brusband. That was purportedly a legal marriage. I mean, she went through the civil
00:20:15.200 ceremony. She did the things that are required to make it legal on paper. The New York Post last
00:20:20.520 December found that this guy, I mean, take a look at this guy. This is her alleged husband,
00:20:26.440 the brusband. He calls himself dirty dandy on social media. All right, he looks flaming gay, 0.99
00:20:33.000 But who am I to say? He's got double earrings. He's got the curls. He's got the short shorts going. No idea. I'm just going to go ahead and say there was no sexual relationship with Ilhan Omar because they were brother and sister. 1.00
00:20:49.740 And there may have been another issue, as it turns out.
00:20:54.060 And there are there are more questions still, because while The Washington Post did its best today to whitewash all of this history.
00:21:06.340 The the Elmi piece of this actually incriminates her.
00:21:12.080 Even The Washington Post's reporter report today incriminates her.
00:21:16.960 It reports that Elmi, when he was married to her and had like an immigration pass to be here because of the marriage, got greedy and he applied for a green card under the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services.
00:21:34.720 And guess what?
00:21:36.080 They finally wanted more information about his marriage to Omar.
00:21:40.900 I wonder why.
00:21:41.920 And guess what Elmi did when the U.S. citizen and immigration services said, we're not sure we're going to give you a green card.
00:21:48.860 We need more information about your immigration status. 0.99
00:21:50.960 He withdrew the damn application. 1.00
00:21:55.500 He withdrew it. 1.00
00:21:58.660 How many frauds have been committed here? 0.95
00:22:01.880 Is she an illegal alien? 0.99
00:22:04.160 Did she get her illegal alien brother over here who took advantage of us for years before getting greedy and finally getting almost caught?
00:22:15.400 Don't tell me this is done, Washington Post, with your preliminary look done on a quick basis that did not result in a full investigation.
00:22:24.640 A full investigation is now required and is underway.
00:22:30.800 This is not retribution.
00:22:34.160 This is the unearthing of a scoundrel once and for all.
00:22:39.440 What has she done? 0.97
00:22:41.620 Where is her paperwork? 0.99
00:22:45.060 Even if you accept you can't prove birth year on a refugee, which is bullshit. 0.94
00:22:50.700 There's family members. 0.90
00:22:51.660 That's why she's got a dozen subpoenas out to family members right now. 0.99
00:22:55.780 The DOJ does.
00:22:57.500 And I have no idea whether they're going to be truthful.
00:22:59.740 I doubt it.
00:23:01.020 But, you know, they seized her passport.
00:23:03.660 They seized her phone. They're looking at her phone right now. Wonder what's on there. Right. So there is a way of proving birth date. And I'll bet they're working to get to the bottom of that right now. But if you become a naturalized U.S. citizen, you have paperwork. So let's see it. That should be very easy to produce. Maybe the big bad government lost it because they lose forms.
00:23:30.560 It's a little coincidental, but okay, maybe they did.
00:23:34.580 Your dad would have had it for sure.
00:23:37.080 You don't get naturalized and kind of just lose your naturalization papers.
00:23:40.520 We all know we have birth certificates.
00:23:42.540 We have confirmation certificates.
00:23:44.040 That's what you keep in your fancy file because you know you're going to need that for various things in your life, like a wedding.
00:23:51.320 So where are her naturalization papers?
00:23:55.220 Where are they?
00:23:56.180 They would be with the dads, which we're told do not exist.
00:23:59.700 This is getting very interesting. But I will tell you one thing. If she's not a U.S. citizen, she's out of the U.S. Congress. And I'm sure under this administration, she will be out of the United States.
00:24:15.620 They will make a massive push to get her deported and that will turn into a lengthy litigation and she will claim all the things.
00:24:21.880 But Trump has been evicting illegals at record rates, not as fast as many of us would like, but at record rates and denaturalizing people, too.
00:24:31.880 So if she can prove naturalization or at least that the process happened and that she purported to be 17 at the time, then we'll have a process to find out whether that was true.
00:24:44.140 And if she was 18, it will have failed and there will be litigation about whether she has to go.
00:24:49.440 And that's in the civil lane because there's no statute of limitations on suing her civilly to deport her, to get her out of here, to make sure the citizenship is clear one way or the other. 0.68
00:24:58.420 And criminally, she may have her hands full, too, either in the immigration lane.
00:25:03.260 I don't know what else they have on her and or in the criminal in the financial disclosure lane, which is what Jeanine Pirro is reportedly looking into.
00:25:14.140 Janine Pirro is looking into that financial disclosure where she went from making $51,000 in one year to $30 million the next and then back down to peanuts.
00:25:22.140 Doesn't matter if the house exonerated her or found, okay, no funny business. 0.99
00:25:26.980 That's a courtesy a lot of these lawmakers do for other lawmakers because their own houses are dirty. 0.87
00:25:33.380 That doesn't bind Janine Pirro in any way, shape or form. 1.00
00:25:37.680 She's allowed to use subpoena power and get to the bottom of where that money came from. 1.00
00:25:43.200 And then it magically went, not to mention the fraud scandals coming out of Minnesota. 0.58
00:25:48.960 And the sister, who we told you about yesterday, had a business address that was linked to a person who committed fraud in connection with this whole Somali fraud thing being done in Minnesota.
00:26:02.500 There's just there's a lot here.
00:26:04.380 So thank God we now have an administration that is getting to the bottom of it, doing a thorough search on what Ilhan Omar did and what she didn't do.
00:26:16.400 And don't let The Washington Post tell you there's no there there.
00:26:20.360 They are scared and running cover for one of their favorites.
00:26:25.580 Stay tuned.
00:26:26.940 All right, we're going to take a break.
00:26:27.940 And when we come back, Maureen Callahan is here on so many juicy stories.
00:26:31.980 I don't even know where to begin with her.
00:26:33.840 Can we talk for a second about picky eaters? If you've got a kid who survives on basically three
00:26:39.380 foods, I want to share an easy way to help fill their nutritional gaps. It is a tasteless,
00:26:44.980 colorless vitamin powder called Ella Ola. Mealtime with kids can be stressful, like an
00:26:50.860 endless negotiation, but Ella Ola can change the game. It's not a gummy or a chewable. You just
00:26:57.560 mix one packet a day right into whatever they're already eating or drinking. Milk, juice, yogurt,
00:27:02.320 oatmeal, even ketchup. They genuinely cannot detect it at all. Ella Ola was developed with
00:27:08.260 pediatricians and delivers 19 essential vitamins and minerals plus nutrients from 15 organic fruits
00:27:14.600 and vegetables. It has zero sugar, zero artificial dyes, and it's free from the top nine food
00:27:21.300 allergens. Over 1 million parents have already made the switch for that extra peace of mind.

00:27:45.900 Hi, Steve Ballmer here.
00:27:47.640 You know, people disagree about a lot in this country.
00:27:50.860 Taxes, healthcare, education.
00:27:52.780 But wherever you land politically, I think most of us agree on this.
00:27:57.280 Better information leads to better decisions.
00:28:00.160 That's the mission of USAFacts, to make government data clear, accessible, and understandable.
00:28:05.540 Because public data plays a bigger role in our lives than most people realize.
00:28:09.680 Government data helps determine where funding goes, how communities prepare for disasters,
00:28:14.600 which schools, hospitals, and local programs need support.
00:28:17.520 It helps businesses plan, journalists report, and voters understand what's really happening in the country.
00:28:22.780 And whether we think about it or not, we rely on this data every single day.
00:28:27.200 That's why supporting public data matters, not for Democrats, not for Republicans, for everybody.
00:28:32.880 Because public data should be easy to access, trust, and understand, so we can use it to make informed decisions.
00:28:38.760 If you believe trustworthy public data matters too, join us.
00:28:42.300 Read and sign our open letter at USAFacts.org, the data we depend on.
00:28:46.580 I finished a 5K in 94th place, right after a man wearing jeans.
00:28:52.780 Then a volunteer gave me a medal, but I don't want participation trophies, unless they're from Bet365.
00:28:59.840 With their daily prize matcher game, I win by matching gold coins, cherries, and more. 0.76
00:29:04.540 Take that, Denim Man.
00:29:06.580 Thanks, Bet365. 1.00

00:29:20.100 Maureen Callahan is with us.
00:29:21.600 She is the host of The Nerve, which is crushing it on YouTube and all podcast platforms.
00:29:26.500 Find out more at TheNerveShow.com. 0.76
00:29:29.920 Maureen, my God, I would not have postponed your beginning for anyone other than Ilhan Omar, who may be an illegal. 0.96
00:29:36.760 I think my favorite portmanteau of the moment may be Bresbend. 0.97
00:29:40.500 Bresbend.
00:29:40.760 Bresbend?
00:29:41.260 Yeah.
00:29:41.400 Yeah, that's great.
00:29:42.060 I haven't heard that one before.
00:29:44.540 It's very sketchy.
00:29:46.500 Let me apply for a green card now.
00:29:47.960 Oh, great.
00:29:48.360 Okay, let us look into your immigration status. 0.60
00:29:50.160 Oh, never mind. 0.54
00:29:50.780 I'm good.
00:29:51.600 Sure. That's what all legitimate people would do.
00:29:54.440 I just feel like the marrying the brother, even just for reasons like this, is crossing such a weird, creepy line.
00:30:01.360 Like I could never get my mind past what that actually means. 0.91
00:30:05.860 It's so disgusting.
00:30:07.080 The nerve, truly, to steal a phrase, you know, that if she got over here, if her story is true, she was a refugee and then she naturalized thanks to the dad's paperwork.
00:30:17.500 um but she may or may not have been a minor and if she wasn't a minor then the dad can't waver in
00:30:23.160 she has to go through it on her own and then to have gotten away with all that and then to get
00:30:27.620 so greedy now you got to go get the brother who didn't come over with the omars he went to the
00:30:32.480 uk with another brother and she's like i can get another one if i she think she is oscar schindler
00:30:38.120 she got him in she's like you will marry i didn't really marry the first husband who fathered all
00:30:43.760 my children. That was just a Muslim ceremony. So I'll, so she quote, legally married her brother. 0.72
00:30:49.460 These are the allegations she denies them. And then that guy gets so greedy. He tries to get
00:30:55.020 an actual work permit as if he actually belongs here. And they're like, Hey, well about that
00:30:59.460 marriage. And he's like, Oh, nevermind. Also what's wrong with the UK? Be happy, happy you've
00:31:06.080 landed there. Work your way over here if you want, but that's a lovely place to wind up.
00:31:10.840 The whole thing is so incredible.
00:31:13.240 Like, honestly, if this woman has been serving in the U.S. Congress as an illegal, it is going to be the biggest story we have seen in years.
00:31:23.300 Do you think, here's what I think, given where we're at now culturally, if she does not get sent to prison, she will get a reality show.
00:31:31.180 Oh, I would watch that.
00:31:33.020 And set up cameras in the house with the husband and the brother, the brosman.
00:31:36.400 Instead of big brother, it'll be. 0.99
00:31:37.720 Yeah, it's like a Brady Bunch kind of, you know, mixed family. 0.99
00:31:40.920 It's a new kind of mixed family, right? 0.60
00:31:42.400 It'll be Rusband. 1.00
00:31:43.200 Rusband.
00:31:46.100 I'm very into this.
00:31:47.600 I cannot wait to get to the bottom of it.
00:31:49.660 Maybe there's no there there.
00:31:50.660 Truly, I'm open-minded, but I want to see the paperwork.
00:31:53.320 Show me the paperwork.
00:31:55.860 I'm a lawyer at heart.
00:31:57.080 I like to see paper, actual paper.
00:31:59.840 Okay, speaking of lawyers, I guess we have to start with the press secretary
00:32:02.800 because we'll do a little hard news before we move on to the others. 1.00
00:32:04.860 It's not going well for the press secretary, Katie Zakaria.
00:32:09.320 And something very interesting happened.
00:32:11.360 So she did not have a strong debut.
00:32:14.080 That was clear.
00:32:15.040 I remain open-minded to a strong follow-up, right?
00:32:19.320 Like she was nervous.
00:32:20.380 It's scary to be out there.
00:32:22.360 You could make the case she shouldn't have been chosen for this role if she can't perform well under nerves and under the spotlight.
00:32:28.260 Okay, but let's just see.
00:32:29.500 OK, I feel like they're being so hard on her and they totally gave Corrine Jean-Pierre a total pass.
00:32:35.000 And all she did was read.
00:32:36.540 Right.
00:32:36.680 So I object to the double standard.
00:32:38.460 She never actually looked into the camera and spoke extemporaneously. 1.00
00:32:40.920 She only read her stupid notebook and what was in there wasn't very persuasive. 0.99
00:32:44.640 So this girl's at least trying to speak extemporaneously, though it's not going all that well. 1.00
00:32:49.640 So she goes on Fox News last night.
00:32:52.580 Now, with respect to Sean Hannity, this is not a dig.
00:32:56.360 This is just a truism.
00:32:57.360 He's basically the spokesperson for Trump.
00:32:59.500 He doesn't do anything that's going to upset Trump, who he considers his best friend.
00:33:04.140 Oh, yeah.
00:33:05.000 He told me that personally.
00:33:07.160 And so he's not going to go out there and try to, like, undermine him.
00:33:10.520 But he gets the president's new secretary, press secretary, on and did not go easy on her.
00:33:18.780 Which one should we start with, Steve?
00:33:20.340 49 or 49B?
00:33:23.340 All right.
00:33:23.980 We'll start with stop 49.
00:33:26.180 Watch.
00:33:26.900 Why not just say I went to Pepperdine Law School and then took a different career path
00:33:31.140 and I took the bar once and didn't pass it.
00:33:34.260 Why get into this long drawn out definition between the difference between a lawyer and
00:33:38.520 an attorney?
00:33:39.440 Because I don't think most people see much of a distinction.
00:33:41.740 Why didn't you just say I never practiced law?
00:33:45.400 Well, Sean, I when I moved back from the United States, I didn't retake the bar.
00:33:50.080 I had four kids in six years.
00:33:51.520 It was never my intent to go into the practice of law.
00:33:53.960 When I went to go engage in media and give legal analysis, I consulted attorneys and legal professionals as to whether or not they agreed that I could be labeled a lawyer, both because I had a valid jurist doctor from a good law school, a reputable law school, Pepperdine Law School, and in conjunction with the fact that I did have actual substantive legal experience, I wasn't providing any legal analysis, Sean, or excuse me, legal advice.
00:34:21.240 I wasn't being paid for legal advice. I was giving a general review of the legal circumstances
00:34:27.240 surrounding it. Okay. Now that is a reference to the fact that she held herself out as a lawyer.
00:34:34.000 I mean, we have a long, long butted soundbite I could play for you of her calling herself a lawyer 0.95
00:34:38.120 when she's not. She graduated from law school, but she failed the California bar exam and she 1.00
00:34:43.800 never took the California bar exam again. A press pool shouted at her, where did you pass the bar 0.82
00:34:50.940 exam. And she said, China, where she did go after law school and I guess did some, the equivalent
00:34:57.560 of like internship work over there, not actual legal work. She did not pass a bar exam in China,
00:35:03.400 nor would that be relevant to whether she's a legitimate lawyer here. And then she later said
00:35:08.380 she had misheard the question and had to admit that she is not licensed to practice law anywhere
00:35:13.900 and never has been. She failed the bar and she never got her law license. And now is making an
00:35:19.120 excuse about how she said lawyer, but not attorney, because somebody told her she could
00:35:23.600 say that, look, I don't tolerate this. You held yourself out as a lawyer. You knew very well what
00:35:29.440 everybody would think when you said you were a lawyer. You were on television commenting on
00:35:34.080 legal matters using that title. And that's a hard no. So I have zero problem with the press
00:35:41.620 pushing her on this and when she was asked about why you did that on fox and friends
00:35:49.720 this morning like why did you do that she just said nobody at the uh they asked do you wish you
00:35:58.940 had explained this disclose this to president trump she said no one asked oh okay all right
00:36:05.320 so it's on the resume one would assume she put it on the resume public like it's up to you
00:36:11.600 if you've duped people,
00:36:14.680 especially somebody like President Trump,
00:36:16.180 into believing that you have a very important degree
00:36:18.460 and that you could potentially be a real asset to him
00:36:21.240 based on your legal experience
00:36:22.800 to disclose that you may have overstated the case a bit,
00:36:25.900 right?
00:36:26.260 Okay, so this is-
00:36:27.420 Can I ask you a question?
00:36:28.360 Is there a difference between lawyer and attorney?
00:36:30.720 I mean, no.
00:36:32.000 Okay, thank you.
00:36:32.720 But apparently she has found one person
00:36:34.360 at Pepperdine Law School to say so,
00:36:36.080 who's now getting so dragged on X
00:36:38.200 that they've had to close their account
00:36:39.800 and shut off all comments.
00:36:41.600 Um, the, the point to me though, is not even whether there's a difference, you know, under
00:36:45.380 somebody's definition.
00:36:46.100 The point is, you know, very well, if you say you're a lawyer, people think that you're
00:36:49.200 an actual lawyer with a, with a license to practice law.
00:36:51.880 Of course.
00:36:52.280 It's like saying you're a doctor when you just graduated from med school, but you didn't
00:36:55.560 actually go through an internship in a residency and become an attending physician.
00:36:58.920 Like we, we, people would like to know that distinction.
00:37:02.000 You can, you can, you can tell them most people haven't been to med school.
00:37:05.480 So you have something more than I have.
00:37:06.960 You have an MD.
00:37:08.020 I don't have an MD.
00:37:08.920 Right.
00:37:09.140 But if you say I'm a lawyer and then give legal commentary, of course, everybody believes you're doing that because you've had experience in the field and you've practiced law.
00:37:18.080 Just ask Sunny Hostin every five seconds as a former federal prosecutor, her predecessor, Star Jones.
00:37:24.160 I am a lawyer.
00:37:26.120 That was always what she said.
00:37:27.880 This is what I kind of I feel like this culture in terms of language, linguistics, we've moved so far away from binaries when they exist.
00:37:36.400 Either you're a lawyer or you're not.
00:37:38.540 You're not.
00:37:39.060 Did you lie or did you not?
00:37:41.280 It's not a misrepresentation.
00:37:43.320 It's not that we misunderstand her.
00:37:45.880 She lied.
00:37:46.940 Yeah, it's puffery at a minimum.
00:37:49.400 Like at best for her, it's puffery where you build yourself up into having more or being more than you actually do or are. 0.82
00:37:56.660 But, you know, the problem is there's such hypocrisy in the mainstream media that doesn't care.
00:38:01.400 They want us to call El Sayed a doctor, even though he's in the same position.
00:38:05.360 He's not a practicing physician, and they're giving him a total pass.
00:38:10.160 They literally lectured people like me publicly everywhere for not calling Dr. Jill Biden a doctor.
00:38:17.340 We all know that that is a complete stretch, and everyone knows if you want to be called a doctor.
00:38:22.580 It's so like it's a little much to be lectured by these people.
00:38:28.200 Okay, but separate and apart from the lawyer thing, which I'm not on her side on,
00:38:32.760 um hannity did not leave it at that like he was needling her which does tell me she her neck is
00:38:40.280 probably on the chopping block because i don't think trump would have allowed that i don't think
00:38:43.560 hannity would have done that if he didn't think trump wanted him to or trump also had questions
00:38:49.540 about her that's just my own take i could be wrong but here's that uh 49b time i received briefing
00:38:56.120 materials in the morning of Tuesday. And I went to deliver all of the great results that President
00:39:03.540 Trump is delivering for the American people that are not often spread in the national media. So I
00:39:09.140 took it as an opportunity so people would know what he's doing for Americans and how hard he's
00:39:15.320 working. And then I delivered some breaking news. I think I'm one of the first press secretaries to
00:39:21.020 deliver staff changes for the administration and i was uh honored that president trump trusted me
00:39:27.880 delivering that information i can give you uh some unsolicited advice that's never going to
00:39:33.300 be a friendly room to you yeah so what i what i would say is i would absolutely be very well
00:39:41.820 prepared on the briefing sean and i would love and i do love questions and i would love to build
00:39:48.180 a relationship with all of those members of the press corps so there is a substantive
00:39:53.000 component to us having an ability to interact it's not going well so i read yesterday i believe
00:40:03.740 because i i just love palace intrigue period that um trump reportedly pulled the trigger
00:40:11.560 on katie while suzy wiles was like out of pocket you know his chief of staff i've read that she's
00:40:18.000 not she doesn't approve and she did not want her either and is suzy wiles now on the chopping block
00:40:23.300 because she's been iced out of some major administrative decisions um i just this bums
00:40:29.760 me out this bums me out because it's there is truth to what they say about trump and central
00:40:36.880 casting and this is kind of his preferred central casting and i i understand it's early days for her
00:40:43.620 but I don't think this is an on-the-job training position. 0.95
00:40:46.560 You have to come out guns blazing.
00:40:48.300 Hannah is right.
00:40:48.920 That is an oppositional room.
00:40:51.120 That's it. 0.98
00:40:51.880 She's there to say what the administration wants 0.93
00:40:54.040 and never deviate from those talking points no matter what they ask.
00:40:56.940 You need a warrior.
00:40:57.760 You need a warrior out there. 1.00
00:40:58.900 You need someone with really thick skin or like an asshole like Jen Psaki 1.00
00:41:02.020 who could just be really condescending when you ask a question she doesn't have the answer to. 1.00
00:41:06.560 Like an Ivy League asshole. 1.00
00:41:08.320 Yes, yes, yes. 1.00
00:41:09.460 I know.
00:41:09.900 That's the thing.
00:41:10.340 I mean, I do, I will say in Katie's defense, it's very hard to follow Caroline Leavitt.
00:41:14.300 Like if I were advising her, I would say the next time she gets asked this question, she
00:41:18.600 should say Caroline Leavitt is a very tough act to follow.
00:41:22.340 And I promise I will do my best to try to measure up.
00:41:25.760 It may take me a while.
00:41:27.060 Yeah.
00:41:27.400 That's it.
00:41:27.840 Just be humble.
00:41:29.100 Don't ramble on every time she's been asked about this on Hannity, on Fox and Friends.
00:41:35.000 She goes into a lengthy ramble about how amazing Donald Trump is.
00:41:39.180 It's embarrassing.
00:41:40.340 it's a sycophant type response, like, I know I'm bad at this, but I love Donald Trump so much 0.99
00:41:45.760 that I'll just kiss ass so that I can keep this job, which may be clever, you know, may be smart, 0.99
00:41:51.720 but is very undermining to her own credibility. Just own it. Say, you know what? I have been 0.99
00:41:58.680 stumbly this week. I'm a little nervous. It's harder to do than I thought it was. But substantively,
00:42:04.660 I will get there. You know, my performance, my smoothness on the air, that may take me a while,
00:42:10.220 and I ask for your patience.
00:42:11.800 Say that.
00:42:13.160 Have a little humility.
00:42:14.320 Yeah.
00:42:14.800 Yes.
00:42:15.340 And also if I were her
00:42:16.540 and I felt like over my head, 0.98
00:42:19.000 I would be sure to be locked in a room
00:42:21.480 with the best media consultants possible.
00:42:24.200 Learn how to answer a question succinctly.
00:42:26.340 Learn how to pivot.
00:42:27.400 Learn how to speak extemporaneously
00:42:28.800 without struggling for your words
00:42:30.440 or repeating your words
00:42:31.660 or not being sure of the message
00:42:33.180 you want to get across.
00:42:35.040 I mean, in lesser positions,
00:42:37.080 you get this.
00:42:37.760 Like I'm sure Doug has had this
00:42:39.100 or, you know, being married to you,
00:42:40.220 But like when you're getting ready to promote a book, if you've never done press before, they put you in a room, a publisher, and they media train you.
00:42:47.140 Oh, he did not have that.
00:42:48.300 But he probably was fine.
00:42:49.260 But he gets that at dinner every night.
00:42:51.400 Fun for him. 0.94
00:42:52.980 Like a version of the Kennedys.
00:42:54.880 Tell me your big three talking points of today's news.
00:42:57.920 Did you or did you not?
00:42:58.280 Yes.
00:42:58.620 Yes, exactly.
00:43:00.240 Okay.
00:43:01.360 Here's one more.
00:43:02.360 This is Sat 50.
00:43:03.740 This is her on Fox and Friends this morning.
00:43:06.560 When's the next press briefing?
00:43:07.800 Will you have another one?
00:43:08.540 Well, I'll be working in close coordination with the communications department, the president to determine when the best next time for a press briefing is.
00:43:16.780 And I'm really looking forward to working with the press, looking with the journal, working with all of the journalists and everyone here.
00:43:22.440 And it's a really a true privilege.
00:43:24.420 And I am excited to do it.
00:43:26.520 And it's going to be a wonderful journey.
00:43:28.160 And we have a lot to look forward to as a country.
00:43:30.520 And there is no better president to work for than President Trump.
00:43:33.820 He is just the most hardworking, incredible man.
00:43:37.040 And I'm grateful to be here.
00:43:38.540 Katie, do you, and it's a tough question, do you think you still have the confidence of the president?
00:43:45.580 I'm standing here and I was able to travel with him through all of the midterm convention,
00:43:51.200 or excuse me, the midterm rallies. And I hope to be able to build the trust and confidence
00:43:55.940 of everyone around me. Oh, I feel bad for her. I do. I feel like you're right. They need to get 0.95
00:44:02.860 her into a room and murder board her right away. Like it should be nonstop. She should not be 1.00
00:44:06.340 looking at the news at all. She should just be behind closed doors getting drilled over and over
00:44:10.440 and over with hard questions. And like, you can't start over again. You have to say it. You have to 0.59
00:44:14.660 complete the thought. There's no ums. There's no ahs. There's no there's no complimenting President
00:44:19.420 Trump. Stop it. You sound like you're with Pravda. And just, you know, stay on point. I don't I'm not
00:44:25.220 sure. I mean, it's been a very rocky week for her. A rocky start. I hope she makes it. I do. I hope
00:44:29.380 she proves her doubters wrong, but she's going to need to practice a lot. It's reminding me a lot
00:44:34.260 of sarah palin oh god it is you know or it's like you you would think like if snl were not off this
00:44:40.100 week this would be a skit you know what i mean like let's just keep going well i do you have
00:44:45.000 the confidence of the president well i was able to travel with him and you know well i'm standing
00:44:49.640 here i'm standing here aren't i or am i technically sitting i don't know you know it's like it's just
00:44:54.140 there are some people who as mediagenic as sarah palin was even if you think she was not that
00:45:01.300 right, which I did and do. She was mediogenic, but she couldn't get it down. She couldn't get 0.74
00:45:07.960 it down, you know, and especially Katie has to know she's talking to outside of Fox, a media
00:45:14.380 that is openly hostile to her and that administration. They would love nothing 0.74
00:45:18.560 more than to see her head roll by day five, you know? The one thing she's got going for her is 0.99
00:45:23.880 she seems sweet. Like, I will say she seems like a sweet gal to me, which again, query why she's in 0.97
00:45:29.720 this role because they'll eat you alive. But I mean, maybe she should lean into that and just
00:45:34.380 like be her nice self, like be self-deprecating, own your flaws, work on them. But the one thing
00:45:40.400 you're going to have to know forward and backward is like substance. If you are sloppy in the
00:45:44.480 delivery, but you know, the substance cold, I think you could get forgiven even by this nasty
00:45:48.880 press corps, like give them real answers. You know, the problem is generally this role does
00:45:54.780 require a bulldog. Yeah. And what Republicans want to see is a fight. Yeah, that that's one
00:45:59.800 of the reasons they liked Kayleigh McEnany, that they liked Caroline Levitt, because they were
00:46:04.260 they were not afraid of these, you know, just vultures in that room. Right. They gave as good
00:46:10.260 as they got. So if you're not able to do that, you better at least be substantively rock solid.
00:46:16.100 She's got a lot of homework to do. We'll see. After Hannity, the closest people to Trump at Fox
00:46:21.240 our fox and friends oh really so that was a one-two punch by the two groups of people closest
00:46:26.660 to him at fox and i do wonder whether this was some sort of decision you know to hobble her or
00:46:36.160 to telegraph she's going i don't know i don't know i know trump doesn't like to fire people
00:46:40.200 who are caught in left-wing firestorms ah um right wing okay and query whether he's creating
00:46:48.760 them in part. I don't know the answer to that. Okay. So that's that. Enough palace intrigue
00:46:52.860 over at Team White House. Katie, we remain rooting for you. Hang in there. Okay. There's a lot more
00:46:59.300 to get to. Which one should we start with next? I guess we should do Meghan and Harry. They're
00:47:04.040 back. They're back in the UK, Maureen. It's a coming home party back to Kensington, right? Or
00:47:10.280 Nottingham. Nottingham. Oh, they went to, wasn't that their first walkabout? Yes. As an engaged
00:47:16.060 couple and it appears that they like we had more people when you arrived here at the studio today
00:47:24.340 featuring a belted skirt oh oh belted skirt there she is she's um greeting people at the rope line
00:47:34.580 oh yes it looks nice and crowded look at the people who turned out for her and then if you
00:47:38.780 zoom out and you see some of the aerials it's i think we would call it a smattering i think
00:47:43.680 smattering is where we'd go. And on top of that, it turns out that she was given this big bouquet
00:47:48.820 of roses reportedly from like, she has a little fan club that follows her, very little. So it
00:47:54.520 wasn't actual like regular Brits who were showing up to greet her. Look at this. Look, look, look,
00:47:59.660 Maureen. Okay. This is a deeper cut, but this reminds me, this, my theory, when Frank Sinatra
00:48:06.200 was starting out, his management would pay teenage girls like five bucks a pop to scream their heads
00:48:11.020 off while he was on the street and then pretend to faint. And that's, so I would bet they might, 0.99
00:48:16.440 they may be on their meager payroll. I am going to do that for you the next time you come here.
00:48:20.280 Thank you. It's the little things. I appreciate that. When I was at Jones Day, my law firm,
00:48:26.240 we used to have like a retreat every year and we'd go cool places. We went to Disney one year. It was
00:48:30.680 really fun. And one year they hired, this is back in the boom days of law firms. They hired a bunch
00:48:36.640 of people. We got off the buses, like the lawyers and we're walking into the facility and they
00:48:40.780 hired a bunch of people to have fan signs and the signs read the one I remember was show us your
00:48:46.320 briefs oh my god it was so funny I looking at all like the stiff lawyers like oh my goodness and
00:48:54.560 like asking for our autographs oh that's so funny it was very funny that's really sweet yeah but
00:48:59.960 basically the same firm is now servicing these two yeah like rent a crowd rent an audience like
00:49:04.800 we've we've done on the nerve we found out through troublemakers that Bill Maher's audience is paid
00:49:09.800 for. He uses a service out in LA. It's called like, I forget the name of it, but it's like you,
00:49:15.820 they, you hire an audience. They get paid 50 bucks a pop to sit in that audience for an hour
00:49:21.940 and clap and applaud and do all the things. Yeah. That's amazing. Yeah. So Megan's got a line to
00:49:26.500 that stuff. I'm sure. Yes. Well, or her little fan club, you know, it's like, Oh, all 15 of them.
00:49:32.100 So they showed up because they're into her, but this is not normal Brits. They have no fan club
00:49:37.560 over there whatsoever they're not their approval ratings are in the dumps yeah so they show up over 0.96
00:49:42.140 there and then she meanders through i don't i saw her in like some school where she's going child
00:49:48.940 to child trying to look like she cares this is all pr and what we're basically seeing here is
00:49:55.360 them acting like real royals when they're fake yes they're fake royals yes this is like dime a dozen
00:50:02.540 So this is like buy a royal and it's embarrassing. 1.00
00:50:05.640 Like you tell me whether the king needs to shut this shit down. 0.99
00:50:09.320 I wish he would. 0.99
00:50:10.240 He's leaving it to William. 0.99
00:50:11.540 You know, this is all the stuff Meghan doesn't want to do.
00:50:14.480 It was Meghan who said during their first huge royal overseas tour was Australia, which I believe was a callback to Charles and Diana.
00:50:23.300 Their first overseas royal tour as a married couple was Australia, and Diana broke royal protocol because for the first time, a future queen insisted on flying with the air.
00:50:33.360 William was a baby, and that was her rapturous applause and her ascendance to global stardom.
00:50:39.540 But Meghan, on her first royal tour, reportedly allegedly said to an aide, I can't believe I'm not getting paid for this.
00:50:46.900 And then in a later, I believe, hissy fit of just epic proportions, reportedly, allegedly, the way it's been reported in the British press was she threw a cup of hot tea in the air.
00:51:01.420 But I don't know anybody who's ever thrown something in the air out of frustration, especially liquid.
00:51:07.700 It's usually the rumor and longstanding is that she tossed it onto an aid.
00:51:13.140 She burned an aid. 0.96
00:51:14.100 Okay. 0.99
00:51:14.440 Okay.
00:51:14.880 Believable.
00:51:15.280 I'm sorry.
00:51:16.000 Totally believable. 1.00
00:51:16.900 nasty bully do we think megan markle for a moment wants to spend time in an old folks home 1.00
00:51:21.780 or a soup kitchen or with poor children only if it makes her look good only if it makes and she 1.00
00:51:27.660 can only keep that mask on for so long she you know and she's overly excited to be there you
00:51:32.760 know she's over oh oh for me it's so saccharine and it's such an obvious affectation the way she
00:51:40.080 responds to these fans you know i much prefer the frankly harry and william and kate style which is
00:51:46.320 just to be polite to greet them to smile shake a hand take a bouquet she's over the top because
00:51:52.180 she she's desperate to telegraph like all mean people are how nice they are yes actually nice
00:51:58.060 people don't have to do that yes they've got absolutely nothing to prove yes they don't have
00:52:02.500 to they don't have to stay there it's the way that um people who are good people never say
00:52:06.480 i'm a good person they just are it's bad actors who are always like i'm a good person you know
00:52:11.580 I'm just misunderstood. So this is the place that while living in royal castles that made her
00:52:20.860 suicidal. Yes. But this is the answer for her happiness. Oh, and they they hate the UK. It's
00:52:27.100 a bunch of racists who drove her to suicidal ideations, who are obsessed with the skin color 0.97
00:52:32.720 of her babies. And yet there they go back. It's such a wonderful thing to be here. We're thrilled 0.81
00:52:37.940 now we're going to raise them here in the racist country that's obsessed with their skin color 0.98
00:52:42.060 that doesn't care if I live or die, that tried to drive me to suicide. So happy to be home. 0.97
00:52:47.260 Oh, and she's trying to launch as ever over there. Oh, yeah. And she's she was just smacked 0.99
00:52:53.680 down by the UK government because her dimwit husband didn't even know this, that there are 0.92
00:52:57.760 import export laws regarding foodstuffs and her fake food doesn't pass the test. The flower 0.92
00:53:04.560 sprinkles yeah i love it the flower sprinkles are banned as is the jam and fruit spread which i
00:53:11.160 thought is the same thing but both have been banned all three i guess have been banned now 0.72
00:53:15.700 for her that's this is her big plan to bring as ever over there where she's even less popular 0.95
00:53:20.580 than she is here and this all happens as we get news about what's happening with their little
00:53:26.900 arch well charity um we'll pick it up there we're going to take a quick break but we'll tell you
00:53:32.660 what's happening with their charity. And we've got to talk about what Ari Emanuel told me
00:53:37.160 about her and her job prospects when we come back right after this. Don't go away. Plenty more
00:53:44.940 between MK, Maureen, and The Nerve coming up. Most electrolytes on the market are packed with
00:53:53.160 artificial flavors, with stevia, with table salt. But let me tell you about Bowie Electrolyte Drops.
00:53:59.400 What is Bowie? It's a clean, purposely unflavored liquid electrolyte formula packed with 87 ocean harvested trace minerals. Love this. You can add a quick squeeze to any drink, even your morning coffee or matcha without changing the taste at all. This is so great. I hate it when you put one of these supplements in your drink and it ruins your drink.
00:54:21.640 It's free from sugars, sweeteners, artificial ingredients, or synthetic flavors, and third-party tested for impurities and heavy metals.
00:54:29.320 Plus, it's backed by real science.
00:54:31.600 Bowie says a university-led clinical trial published in the journal Nutrients showed that Bowie is clinically proven to hydrate 64% more than water alone and 49% more than leading sports drinks.
00:54:43.520 If you want to make your favorite drinks instantly more hydrating, head to justadbowie.com.
00:54:49.400 slash Megan. Bowie is B-U-O-Y. Just add Bowie.com slash Megan. Use that code Megan to get your 31%
00:54:56.300 off the liquid electrolyte discovery set backed by a 30-day risk-free guarantee. And if you or
00:55:02.820 someone you know is living with a chronic illness, Bowie can help offset healthcare costs through
00:55:08.060 their chronic illness lifetime support program. It takes just two minutes to apply.
00:55:13.300 maureen callahan is back with me now she is the host of the nerve go and subscribe right now do
00:55:21.120 yourself a favor and actually do that on youtube and wherever you get your podcasts you will thank
00:55:26.820 me as so many have i get that comment all the time people say i love maureen i love the nerve and i
00:55:32.940 say me too well you're the nurse fairy godmother oh i love that yeah it's an honor we get your we
00:55:38.900 get your fairy dust, your stardust. We're very lucky. It's truly such a pleasure to listen to.
00:55:44.560 Okay. So I want to keep going with these two grifters because there was an incredible moment
00:55:50.020 where the veil came down on Meghan Markle's face. They were greeting people and they were being
00:55:57.260 greeted by some blonde woman. I don't know who she was. Our pal Dan Wooten pointed it out. You'll 0.92
00:56:02.740 see it here in Sat 9. But I've got to show you this moment first, where Meghan sees Harry
00:56:09.460 lean in for the kiss, immediately turns to look at the woman before her horrified face goes back
00:56:18.660 to her husband. Now, that is a very English-European thing to do, isn't it? The double
00:56:25.380 kiss on the cheek but it shows you how insecure she is in these moments
00:56:30.280 he nailed it maureen because she does this not only does she lose the grin entirely but she does
00:56:38.320 this yes yes i'm putting my tongue i'm like cleaning the front of my teeth with my tongue
00:56:44.700 that's what she does like yes and then like kind of looks away and pretends that there's somebody
00:56:50.600 behind him that she's gesturing to so like she doesn't even have to look at the woman yes it's
00:56:54.980 very clear she did not appreciate this and and it reminds me of the chris jenner moment yes her
00:57:01.740 rack where he was staring at the rack yes it also reminds me do you remember we showed this picture
00:57:07.100 a little while ago it's an older one but she's seated next to harry at some outdoor event and
00:57:13.700 they're all on those kinds of folding chairs that are not attached she is about seated about a foot
00:57:19.500 away harry is next to her and next to harry is another woman who was like a functionary of this
00:57:25.300 event but harry's reclined he's got his legs spread he's got his arms slung over the chair
00:57:31.800 of the other woman who is standing ram sitting ramrod straight like don't megan don't think i'm
00:57:37.560 encouraging this and megan's staring forward with like that that wide eye like smile on her
00:57:43.320 everything's fine i'm not angry i'm not angry and that level of insecurity gives to my mind gives
00:57:50.920 credence to lady c's assertion that there has been another woman in montecito the detail that
00:57:57.600 this woman is age appropriate to me says it all that is an incredible detail normally it would
00:58:02.760 be like a younger woman maybe an influencer no that like she has known like i i do think the
00:58:10.240 flight to the UK did have something to do with that. Just my opinion.
00:58:13.820 Well, it does show her insecurity because I can tell you one thing I have zero insecurity about
00:58:19.320 is my marriage. You know, Doug and I are genuinely very close and I know he adores me and I adore
00:58:24.500 him. And, um, if he ever kissed a woman like that, I wouldn't even, it wouldn't even catch
00:58:29.580 my notice. It's like, it is sort of a way of saying hello. Doug doesn't do that kissing.
00:58:34.880 He doesn't do the double air kiss.
00:58:36.120 No, and can I just tell you,
00:58:37.560 it's actually one of my massive pet peeves 0.98
00:58:39.580 when American men do it. 1.00
00:58:41.860 It's fine for Harry. 1.00
00:58:43.180 Van Wooten is correct. 1.00
00:58:44.260 That is a European thing. 0.98
00:58:45.220 And when I'm greeting a European man, I expect it. 1.00
00:58:48.000 And I don't think a thing of it. 0.97
00:58:49.380 But it's very wannabe by these American men who do it.
00:58:52.840 Women do it too.
00:58:54.300 Yeah, American women do it too. 1.00
00:58:56.400 I think I can forgive the women actually
00:58:57.680 more than I can the men. 0.98
00:58:58.640 Why?
00:58:58.840 Because it's just so effete. 0.97
00:59:00.780 Oh, it gets to your masculinity thing.
00:59:03.420 Yeah, I get it.
00:59:03.980 Be a man. 1.00
00:59:04.980 Don't fucking kiss me. 1.00
00:59:05.480 Would you prefer a handshake from a man? 1.00
00:59:07.740 Yes, I would.
00:59:08.780 Okay.
00:59:09.140 Or I could do the like, the no body touch hug.
00:59:12.980 Yes.
00:59:13.560 I'm okay with that.
00:59:14.480 Yes.
00:59:15.200 Like, I'm not saying it's a come on.
00:59:17.180 I'm saying it's like, and it's only been done to me by like, business executives who are skinny and small and not confident.
00:59:27.860 Do you know what I mean?
00:59:28.460 Like, it's like, it's a thing that effete men do in order to feel fabulous, I guess.
00:59:34.840 Oh, okay.
00:59:35.480 I don't know, but I'm against it, very against it.
00:59:38.440 Oh.
00:59:38.800 And then you never know which way to go,
00:59:40.340 and then you can have the inadvertent lip touch,
00:59:42.120 which is a nightmare.
00:59:42.960 Oh, that's never happened to me, like in an inadvertent lip.
00:59:45.060 Like, I think you pretty much know, like,
00:59:46.980 this is not, that's not going that way.
00:59:48.340 But like, I don't know, it's never really bothered me.
00:59:50.580 I mean, I've certainly had male colleagues where, you know,
00:59:52.740 once I've come to have a very closely,
00:59:56.700 a good close working relationship. 0.63
00:59:58.640 She works for the male.
00:59:59.380 They're Brits. 1.00
01:00:00.100 There's a bunch of Brits there.
01:00:00.760 There's Americans.
01:00:01.480 There are Americans there.
01:00:02.380 But I'm talking even at the Post,
01:00:03.740 where like it was rough and tumble there.
01:00:05.420 And journalism, you have journalists doing this?
01:00:08.320 Like if one of my editors like came to an event I was having, I would give them like a non-body contact hug.
01:00:15.000 Yeah, sure.
01:00:15.800 I disagree.
01:00:16.340 That's fine.
01:00:17.100 I'm talking about that kiss on both sides of the cheek.
01:00:20.100 Oh, you're talking about that.
01:00:21.080 Oh, well, that's, yes, that is an affectation for sure.
01:00:23.360 Yes, it's weird.
01:00:24.620 I do think generally if you meet somebody and they're going to go for it, the general rule is everyone go for the other person's right side.
01:00:32.380 Yeah.
01:00:33.040 And then it works.
01:00:33.960 Yeah.
01:00:34.220 The puzzle of it.
01:00:35.420 can fit together yes um okay yes so there's news about the two grifters and how their business
01:00:42.140 isn't doing very well or at least archwell isn't doing very well um let me see the uh
01:00:48.840 the headline do i have in front of me i don't know they they basically had to cut back is bit
01:00:53.480 is the headline and between that and the inability to sell half of her wares over there i do wonder
01:01:00.800 whether Ari Emanuel is going to be able to help her, help her. Here is what he said when he came
01:01:05.720 on the MK show, her former super agent, but is now quote, thinks it's great to be rid of her.
01:01:11.840 So at six recently told the Sunday times, it was a great thing that you were no longer having to
01:01:18.560 think about her. Yeah. Why, why is that great? Listen, I got a busy life. She is finding her
01:01:25.700 voice i'm happy for her we're we're the great thing i hope as a parent of starting william
01:01:32.400 morris endeavor is there's people here that they can handle stuff and and handle clients
01:01:40.880 and for me i i just had a lot on my plate with i've started a new company i run tko
01:01:48.300 I have clients and it was it was better to let them deal with her and execute against
01:01:57.480 her needs and her desires and I'm happy that everybody's doing it for me then to have you do
01:02:04.100 I couldn't I couldn't it couldn't occupy I didn't want it occupying my brain and when I'm involved
01:02:09.660 in somebody constantly and when I wake up in the morning clients occupy my brain that's what
01:02:14.820 happens and i just didn't want to do that anymore having nothing about her i just needed to move on 0.87
01:02:19.220 to other things i was doing did you find there was a big appetite for her services
01:02:24.900 well i mean you know i i think there's a bunch of things that our people are doing for her now
01:02:33.080 so that's a good thing i'm just not involved i'm not involved i mean and not in a bad way
01:02:39.860 I just have a lot on my plate.
01:02:44.160 Hey, if Katie loses her job, he could be the new White House press secretary.
01:02:47.460 It's giving that like and I love that because he's like a creature of Hollywood.
01:02:52.360 He has run that town for decades and he's like, I don't know.
01:02:56.760 Everything's cool.
01:02:57.360 Everything's I mean, I just don't I don't have time like I'm doing other things.
01:03:00.180 I've got kids.
01:03:00.880 Oh, and by the way, like I just I need to think about my clients like like he couldn't.
01:03:04.680 I love stuff like that because it shows even experts at messaging for other people.
01:03:10.560 If they're put on the spot and they like they're trying, in my opinion, not to tell the whole truth, which I think was like, that's his job.
01:03:18.420 Happy to be done with her. Yes. Yeah.
01:03:20.140 I put him in an impossible spot and he was a good sport about letting me do it because, you know, he knew I'm sure that I was going to ask a question about that.
01:03:26.780 But yeah, he so he can't completely throw under the bus. Right.
01:03:29.620 His agency still represents her. Right. But he offloaded her. Make no mistake about it.
01:03:34.060 She started with him and it's not a great thing to be, to have your agent offload you to a lesser
01:03:40.140 known agent within the agency that clearly that is not a sign of respect or belief in you.
01:03:47.980 And even at the end there, he was about to gear up to say something like, and she's had to know
01:03:52.540 some projects come in and he changed it to, and they're, they're working, you know, basically to
01:03:56.880 find her anything is what he was saying. And, and I want to update what I was saying. It's not the
01:04:01.140 charity. Archwell, the headline in the post is, they have quietly downsized their Archwell
01:04:06.360 Productions company as their Hollywood ventures continue to face challenges. Quote, they cut staff
01:04:12.240 over the last 12 to 18 months, a source exclusively told Page Six. According to the insider,
01:04:18.480 their company is now down to just a handful of employees in its Raleigh Studios offices in Los
01:04:24.220 Angeles. And this is not, you know, a sign of health because everything they've touched other
01:04:31.260 than that original Netflix documentary in his book, which is both of those are just about the
01:04:36.580 royal family. That's interest in Kate and William and the queen has turned to shit. None of them 0.99
01:04:42.420 has worked. Her stupid podcast, his dumb polo documentary, her book got canceled on whatever 1.00
01:04:48.100 child story she was going to tell. Oh, the bench? Yeah. That wound up on eBay for 20K. 1.00
01:04:52.880 oh god what oh did you miss this you could get an animatronic bird in brooklyn for less than that 0.97
01:04:58.200 those those brooklyn hipster assholes they at that price to 15 million you're right there's no one 0.89
01:05:06.440 there's no one to root for in that story there's there's no one to root for but um no okay this is 0.96
01:05:10.560 so good this is so good so on ebay appears a signed copy of the bench by megan to but it was
01:05:19.240 ever published no i think it was published in a small run and just bombed okay maybe that's what
01:05:24.180 it was so it was signed to huge and jack meaning princess eugenie oh lord andrew's daughter and it
01:05:31.760 was an inscription that said so they had moved into frogmore that dump that harry and megan just
01:05:37.020 could not abide ceilings are too low oprah winfrey showed up and said how can you live here on the
01:05:42.320 netflix show how can you live in this dump so she she writes i hope that i hope that you and your
01:05:47.060 guys have as much fun there as you know whatever and she signed it it was written in that like
01:05:51.520 insufferable calligraphy and she signed it meg but i thought about you when i saw this because
01:05:58.560 she signed it m-e-g-h and i was like that would be like you signing meg m-e-g-y meggy
01:06:06.440 y is silent like all irish names there's like a million silent vowels and um but so it was like
01:06:13.740 who could have put that up on eBay for 20,000 pounds?
01:06:17.360 Only Eugenie or Jack because they need money too
01:06:21.080 because their father's been kicked off the property.
01:06:24.440 They're Prince Andrew's kids.
01:06:26.060 She is.
01:06:27.080 Wow.
01:06:28.400 Yeah, I guess it was a series.
01:06:32.020 It was like an animated series that she was pitching
01:06:34.160 that got killed.
01:06:36.280 Yes.
01:06:36.920 That's what I'm thinking of.
01:06:37.940 Maybe it was based on the book.
01:06:39.140 I don't know, but it was a kid's series.
01:06:40.880 It's called Pearl.
01:06:42.100 Yes, thank you.
01:06:43.040 Yes.
01:06:43.740 And it was supposed to be based on her childhood, but it turned out she was heavily borrowing, one might say, from pre-existing intellectual property.
01:06:52.740 Ask Martha Stewart what that's like.
01:06:54.400 Oh, yeah. 1.00
01:06:55.040 Yeah, that's all they do is just grift.
01:06:56.640 Like, they try to be Wills and Kate.
01:06:58.580 They try to be Martha Stewart.
01:07:00.320 They try to be Oprah. 0.98
01:07:01.760 Yes.
01:07:02.260 And here she's trying to be whosoever book that was.
01:07:05.740 I'm so over them, but, yeah, their latest act continues in the U.K., and nobody is buying it.
01:07:12.320 Now, next up, we have got to discuss something I learned about on the nerve, and you should listen to Maureen's show, it's out now, that raises some bad facts about Keri Russell.
01:07:23.940 I'm just going to have to say it.
01:07:25.780 I love Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys of the Americans, or did, and I love her not at all after hearing the soundbites you played on the nerve. 0.99
01:07:36.840 She is an open leftist asshole, first of all. 0.97
01:07:40.500 She went on with Chelsea Handler, who's a nightmare, and ripped Trump as the man who may not be named. 1.00
01:07:46.760 It was like, all right, this is so trite.
01:07:48.780 I mean, please, like you're paying your dues to Chelsea Handler, first of all.
01:07:52.740 That's where you sit.
01:07:53.920 And then every other word was like something crass or vulgar.
01:07:59.520 You know, it's like she completely knocked herself down several pedestals.
01:08:03.780 And then the bit about how she finds her friends, I was like, you've got to be kidding me.
01:08:10.080 I hadn't seen this.
01:08:11.180 I did hear the headline about all the sex she and Matthew Reese had,
01:08:15.020 and I was like, all right, that's a little much, but whatever.
01:08:17.260 Where is it?
01:08:17.780 Let's see.
01:08:19.660 Can you guys find it?
01:08:20.600 Oh, here it is.
01:08:21.320 Wait over here. 0.96
01:08:22.340 Carrie Russell Sott. 0.99
01:08:23.860 Yeah, 51. 0.68
01:08:24.900 Let's play it.
01:08:25.640 So my, you know, they're like, I don't know, they're coders.
01:08:32.860 One friend's a coder.
01:08:34.540 One friend is a journalist.
01:08:37.700 They all do all sorts of stuff.
01:08:39.160 So I met some of them through school, like my kids' school.
01:08:43.840 Yeah, that's what I was going to ask.
01:08:44.420 You know, you're like in first grade and you see the moms that are like also wearing Vans and like not wearing like have Chanel bags.
01:08:52.120 And you're like, oh, the Vans mom, that's my people.
01:08:55.320 Yeah, right. 0.99
01:08:56.120 That looks like she hasn't brushed her teeth yet. 0.99
01:08:57.820 Right.
01:08:58.080 I was like, who are you, you know?
01:09:01.380 Okay, can I just say, first of all, I was at those schools, those very same schools for years.
01:09:07.480 and the most elite school you could be at.
01:09:13.300 Nobody dresses like that.
01:09:14.480 There is not a Chanel mother.
01:09:16.120 That actually is not a thing. 0.99
01:09:17.520 That's a caricature of New York moms. 1.00
01:09:19.900 Most New York moms are understated. 0.90
01:09:22.800 I don't know how it is in LA, 0.93
01:09:24.600 but in New York, 0.99
01:09:25.740 most of the moms are very understated. 1.00
01:09:27.780 They're actually not intent on flaunting their wealth 1.00
01:09:30.080 outside of these amazing institutions.
01:09:32.160 They're understated,
01:09:33.360 but she's got to be kidding us 0.70
01:09:35.500 that she somehow eschews the Chanel bag,
01:09:39.840 that this is somehow very offensive to us.
01:09:42.560 So just to start, I'm completely with you.
01:09:45.340 I loved her too.
01:09:46.560 I thought she was one of those rare people
01:09:48.880 who are in Hollywood, but not of it, you know?
01:09:53.220 And she sort of seemed interesting.
01:09:54.520 Like she took a break after Felicity moved to New York,
01:09:58.000 took a few years off, like had a life.
01:10:00.460 Her projects are interesting.
01:10:02.500 When she's not promoting a film,
01:10:04.120 You never see her or a show. 0.96
01:10:06.960 And then I saw that and I just thought, wow, that's like, first of all, it's completely hypocritical. 0.59
01:10:12.540 Like, you know, you have to remind yourself these people are actors. 0.53
01:10:15.260 They act.
01:10:15.740 She's been acting since she was a kid.
01:10:17.300 There may not be a real person in there, you know, but to say like, oh, the Vans mom, the mom who wears the cool hipster sneakers.
01:10:24.440 That's my tribe, not the mom who carries Chanel.
01:10:26.860 You know, two weeks ago, Carrie was at the Louis Vuitton spring-summer 2007 fashion show as an invited guest at Paris Fashion Week, dressed by the house. 0.85
01:10:38.160 By the way, trotted out her 13-year-old daughter, who we're seeing here for the first time, makes a point of stopping her daughter in front of the world's media to adjust her collar.
01:10:50.100 And again, like I said on the nerve, we are like a couple of weeks out from Presley Gerber.
01:10:54.540 when will these people stop parading their children around like this like accessories but
01:11:00.640 again like carrie if you're the cool brooklyn vans mom what are you doing accepting an invitation 0.99
01:11:05.240 from louis vuitton i thought we hated fancy handbags i thought we hated all that shit what 0.95
01:11:09.920 do you mean and their designers all that stuff oh so is the problem that the bags are chanel and 0.95
01:11:15.040 not louis vuitton maybe that's her secret i don't know because she also said she um she doesn't
01:11:19.560 understand people who wear pearls. And I'm like, I wear pearls every day and I don't take it
01:11:25.140 personally. I don't think she knows who I am. But it's like, what are you doing? I felt like with
01:11:30.700 Chelsea, who I find odious for many reasons and has a reputation in the industry as a real mean 0.99
01:11:37.780 girl, a really, really mean, miserable. You could see it. It's all over her face. I felt like 1.00
01:11:43.260 I felt like Carrie was trying to like, in her mind, sort of get herself to whatever level of cool she thinks Chelsea is. 1.00
01:11:52.100 And like, I'll be, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll curse and I'll talk about sex and I'll talk about like bad personal height.
01:11:59.860 Like, I don't get what's going on there.
01:12:01.720 I don't.
01:12:02.440 Oh, my other theory is I do think there's something to the, um, the Matthew Rhys stuff, you know, I heard you saying that you thought it was, you know, honest.
01:12:11.500 And also, it's a curse, though.
01:12:14.400 It is a curse, but he had not won.
01:12:16.280 Everybody who fails to do it lines up divorced.
01:12:17.820 Hilary Swank.
01:12:19.020 There's a long list.
01:12:20.060 There's a long list.
01:12:21.720 And where has he been?
01:12:24.280 Why wasn't he with her at Paris Fashion Week?
01:12:26.300 Why hasn't he been on the red carpet with her?
01:12:28.060 She's been rolling out The Diplomat season four.
01:12:30.100 She was by his side the whole time.
01:12:31.660 He was like campaigning for that at those two Emmys, which he won.
01:12:35.180 Like, where is he?
01:12:36.180 I don't know, but you lose him how you get him. 0.99
01:12:38.200 It's so true. 0.54
01:12:38.960 And that's the thing that bothered me about her sex disclosure on Chelsea, which was like, she was married at the time.
01:12:45.900 I know.
01:12:46.400 They want to tell us, oh, it ended right before the affair started.
01:12:50.020 Sure.
01:12:50.240 Those things always, the timing always works out just that cleanly, just that cleanly.
01:12:55.760 And it's not just that her ex-husband has to hear that, but he is the father of her two older children.
01:13:00.520 Right.
01:13:00.920 One is 19 in a college and the other is the 13-year-old daughter.
01:13:04.460 so they're gonna go to school and hear all about their mom on chelsea sex podcast talking about how 0.99
01:13:09.400 they were fucking in there that's her line yes that's her words i think we have it yeah here it 0.97
01:13:13.960 is 53 the show the diplomat first of all the americans was we didn't give it enough credit 0.98
01:13:18.900 or justice time and respect because that show was fucking awesome what you guys did on that show was
01:13:25.160 so awesome like it's so much fun it looked like it was so fun and also we were like falling in 0.97
01:13:30.060 love and staying up all night and like having sex all the time and just like wearing disguises 0.91
01:13:35.160 like i'm fucking crazy wigs and like wearing pearls when did you ever wear pearls and like 0.99
01:13:40.300 fucking in trailers and fight everywhere i mean it was insanity it was so fun and sneaky and sexy 0.99
01:13:45.700 and so good who made the first move with the two of you oh oh that's a good question you know i 0.99
01:13:51.620 think i did i love that yeah nice nice i heard you on the nerve ripping on the random third person
01:13:59.980 i love that who just pops in from nowhere with comments and questions or sometimes she's just
01:14:07.240 sitting there like is that like kind of just looking up and like smiling like kind of like
01:14:12.160 inanely and there she is who is this person chelsea's for i would say for in hollywood
01:14:18.040 and i use this phrase in the way which was intended in the 70s that in hollywood would
01:14:23.580 be chelsea's special needs friend yeah yeah she's not photogenic yeah she's not stylish 1.00
01:14:28.960 She's not wearing makeup and she's not particularly witty or additive to the conversation. 0.98
01:14:33.200 That's why Chelsea will be friends with her.
01:14:35.800 She's there.
01:14:36.440 Because the truly insecure people never want to surround themselves with anybody who is as good, never mind better looking than they are.
01:14:42.800 So, yeah.
01:14:43.140 So that woman comes out. 1.00
01:14:44.020 But it was crass and it was vulgar and it was so unnecessary. 1.00
01:14:46.500 Why would you be?
01:14:47.580 We all know that the relationship started as an infidelity. 0.67
01:14:50.560 You were cheating on your husband.
01:14:51.740 They deny it.
01:14:52.480 She says the separation.
01:14:53.460 I don't believe her.
01:14:54.720 I think clearly there was overlap.
01:14:57.460 And so like, it's hard to root for that.
01:15:00.240 Like, okay, I get it.
01:15:01.280 Maybe you married the wrong person
01:15:02.320 and you found somebody who's better.
01:15:03.880 It happens, but like, stop, 0.98
01:15:06.300 I'm not gonna celebrate how sneaky your sex was 0.72
01:15:10.680 when there was a family that you were about to leave.
01:15:15.060 Yeah, her ex-husband has never said a thing.
01:15:17.260 I wonder if he signed an ironclad NDA,
01:15:20.020 but the other thing is like-
01:15:20.600 Or has a big alimony check.
01:15:21.800 Exactly, big alimony check.
01:15:23.580 The other thing is though, that is your workplace, sister.
01:15:26.460 I'm sure the crew was thrilled that that trailer was rocking and rolling every five minutes.
01:15:31.300 I'm sure whoever had to clean her trailer and his trailer was thrilled that they were getting it on every five minutes.
01:15:36.440 You know what I mean?
01:15:36.900 Like, have some sense of, like, what you're doing, you know?
01:15:40.360 And class.
01:15:40.920 I mean, if you want class, you don't go on with Chelsea Handler.
01:15:43.940 100%.
01:15:44.420 And plus, it's just so, like, the left wing, they'll go on a podcast like that.
01:15:47.940 It's fine.
01:15:48.500 That won't cost her a single role.
01:15:50.560 God forbid they ever came on a right wing podcast.
01:15:53.660 Or mine is an independent podcast that leans right.
01:15:56.240 That's what my sensibilities are.
01:15:58.480 She would never. 0.87
01:15:59.280 I mean, we had a lot of big celebrities come on here, but she would never do that because in her world, that would be a sin for which you couldn't be forgiven.
01:16:05.520 But you can go on the most hateful. 1.00
01:16:07.080 Chelsea Handler is disgusting. 1.00
01:16:09.680 She is so hateful. 1.00
01:16:11.000 She said the nastiest things about everybody on the right. 0.95
01:16:14.700 She's had to apologize a bunch of times. 1.00
01:16:16.920 No problem because she rips on Trump. 1.00
01:16:20.380 She's telegraphing that she's a leftist to everybody. 1.00
01:16:22.620 and then she talks about her playful sex 0.96
01:16:24.440 with the hottest guy in Hollywood at the moment, 0.79
01:16:26.800 Matthew Rhys.
01:16:27.500 Right, right.
01:16:27.840 Right, like, let everybody know, like, I'm his
01:16:30.700 and I found him before you did.
01:16:31.360 That's exactly what's going on here.
01:16:32.860 I think there's a little bit of,
01:16:34.280 excuse my language, but territorial pissing.
01:16:36.700 Like, whatever else he may or may not be getting up to,
01:16:39.140 she's trying, like Meghan Markle on the receiving line.
01:16:41.860 He's mine, he's mine.
01:16:44.160 It was desperate and it was neat, it was sad.
01:16:46.180 All right, let's talk about the Kelly Clarkson story.
01:16:52.620 So the audience knows the story by now, but for those who don't, just quickly, she went down to a Brooklyn store called Art of Play, right?
01:17:00.720 And she wanted to buy this $15,000 bird that was on the wall, and I don't know, it was like a robot bird, you called it.
01:17:09.760 They said, no, this one's not for sale, but you can get a twin for $15,000 from the guy who made this one, or we can get you one to take home today for two grand.
01:17:18.760 That's like a lesser imitation. And she claims they spoke to her as though she, you know, was a nobody, like in the scene in Pretty Woman. She stormed out and fuck anybody who thinks that she doesn't like small businesses because she was shopping in a small business.
01:17:33.100 Okay, so I really thought it was a pathetic thing 1.00
01:17:35.980 for her to do, the long tweet storm about them. 0.83
01:17:38.720 If I told you the number of times
01:17:40.380 I've been slighted by store keepers
01:17:43.440 in Manhattan or Brooklyn, we'd be here all day
01:17:46.720 because I'm recognizable as a figure on the right wing
01:17:49.880 and they hate us.
01:17:50.900 So they don't care that you wanna go into a store
01:17:52.960 and spend X amount of dollars like that the money doesn't?
01:17:56.940 No.
01:17:57.520 Wow.
01:17:57.960 No, I've been treated terribly
01:17:59.560 by so many different store proprietors
01:18:02.380 and people on the left, whatever, it's fine.
01:18:05.260 You shrug it off and you move on with your life.
01:18:07.220 Who cares? 0.99
01:18:07.760 I don't give a shit what they think about me. 0.99
01:18:09.300 Okay, I'm not for them. 0.98
01:18:10.460 I'm not everybody's taste,
01:18:12.120 but I'm enough people's taste that it's fine.
01:18:14.200 You know, like I can make a living.
01:18:15.800 My people understand me and these other people.
01:18:18.560 Somebody put this on Twitter
01:18:19.700 and I retweeted it the other day.
01:18:21.360 X, don't waste time arguing with people
01:18:24.460 who are determined to misunderstand you.
01:18:26.220 It's great advice.
01:18:27.980 And anyway, I would never go
01:18:30.060 and like start tweeting about the shopkeeper.
01:18:32.380 You know, like, grow up. Be a woman. Stop complaining about every small person who doesn't like you. 1.00
01:18:39.440 A lot of people don't like you. If you become a public figure, especially, they don't like you.
01:18:44.300 And a lot of people do. Grow up.
01:18:46.820 But now this store owner is really enjoying his 15 minutes of fame.
01:18:52.880 So let's first look at the video. I'm going to get to him in a second.
01:18:55.160 The video has been released, and here it is.
01:18:58.260 Pablo Torres finds out, got his hands on the video.
01:19:02.860 He's the one who broke it.
01:19:03.660 The Daily Mail has it, too.
01:19:04.660 Let's watch it.
01:19:05.680 She appears to be browsing.
01:19:07.580 She's now at a shelf.
01:19:09.040 She's picked something up.
01:19:11.040 She gets the attention of the aforementioned shopkeeper in question. 1.00
01:19:16.460 This is the dude that she referenced, called an idiot, 0.98
01:19:20.200 said that he was treating her like Julie Roberts' character in Pretty Woman, 0.99
01:19:25.160 You see Kelly Clarkson pointing.
01:19:26.880 Yeah. 0.90
01:19:27.680 She's pointing at Molly as she looks at the shopkeeper.
01:19:31.720 And the shopkeeper is kind of nodding.
01:19:35.420 And it's like he's telling her something.
01:19:37.760 And she's looking at it and looking back at him.
01:19:40.660 And is, I guess, trying to confirm something it looks like.
01:19:43.860 The whole interaction lasts seconds.
01:19:46.800 And she goes off into the corner.
01:19:50.100 The shopkeeper goes in the other direction.
01:19:53.600 Now, she turns around, and he's now talking to another customer.
01:19:57.660 And what happens next with Ms. Clarkson at the door?
01:20:01.700 She's clasping her hands. 0.68
01:20:03.540 She heads to the exit.
01:20:05.360 She turns around and seems to be saying something to the person behind the cash register.
01:20:12.420 There's a lot of gesticulating, and she's walked out, and he seems to be gesturing to the bird.
01:20:20.200 Yeah.
01:20:21.200 She doesn't seem to want to hear whatever he has to say.
01:20:27.440 I know what we're going to need to analyze this properly.
01:20:31.740 Yes.
01:20:32.280 I think it's a martini.
01:20:34.000 I couldn't agree with you more.
01:20:35.460 Duggar, thank you so much.
01:20:37.640 Doug is here.
01:20:38.820 Thank you.
01:20:39.620 He's providing the martinis.
01:20:41.080 Thank you so much, babe.
01:20:42.080 You're welcome.
01:20:42.360 These are made with love.
01:20:43.200 Yes, he's an amazing mixologist.
01:20:46.520 And by special request, thank you, honey.
01:20:49.120 Cheers.
01:20:49.480 Cheers, babe.
01:20:50.500 Great to have you here.
01:20:51.760 Always the most fun.
01:20:52.960 Dr. Sean, sorry, but I have to do it.
01:20:56.260 Oh, that is so good.
01:20:58.440 It's so good.
01:20:59.160 He's such a good mixologist.
01:21:00.740 He is so good at making these.
01:21:02.900 Like, I don't know.
01:21:03.560 Like, maybe I just will surrender and become an alcoholic.
01:21:06.780 They're so good.
01:21:07.500 I could live on that.
01:21:08.460 Hey, life's short.
01:21:10.140 You've done so well so far.
01:21:11.920 My mom's 85.
01:21:13.240 And she always says, if I make it to 90, this is all I'm doing.
01:21:15.520 I love it.
01:21:15.960 And I don't want to hear a word about it.
01:21:18.140 Mom, you got it. 1.00
01:21:19.820 Okay, so Kelly Clarkson is very angry. 1.00
01:21:23.940 You can see before she leaves, 0.99
01:21:25.300 she gives him the business at the door.
01:21:27.040 Oh, yeah.
01:21:27.720 Now, I can't imagine actually doing that,
01:21:29.780 like shouting at somebody
01:21:31.500 or like scolding them from the door of the facility.
01:21:34.760 That's what you've got this for.
01:21:36.400 Yes.
01:21:36.740 You do it from here.
01:21:38.280 I'll do it from here, then you go about your day.
01:21:40.460 But I do know, like, I don't punch down.
01:21:42.980 I do know that rule.
01:21:44.380 And you learn it the hard way.
01:21:45.620 Yes, yes.
01:21:46.460 Don't punch down.
01:21:47.080 Like a lot of people who are not as well-known, not as successful, are going to take shots at you and just ignore them.
01:21:53.900 Like it's just ignore them.
01:21:55.380 Yes.
01:21:56.120 This is where she really went wrong.
01:21:58.060 She punched down. 0.99
01:21:59.800 And stores, as you know, in Manhattan and the five boroughs of New York have been struggling ever since that fucking terrible mayor, Bill de Blasio, turned us into one giant Starbucks in Citibank. 0.97
01:22:10.060 And so it's not great to do something to – 0.91
01:22:12.920 However, I mean, like, Lawrence Olivier is apparently running this store because this guy is acting about his trauma.
01:22:29.800 Steve, play the one you think embodies it most.
01:22:32.380 I don't know.
01:22:32.640 There's so many to look at.
01:22:34.320 We are afraid for the safety of our shopkeepers.
01:22:37.100 Kelly Clarkson has put us in danger.
01:22:39.160 Not just are people showing up in person,
01:22:41.660 but our neighbors are getting doxxed and review-bombed.
01:22:46.200 People are getting threatened on the street.
01:22:49.620 And the worst part is, we didn't know this was going to happen,
01:22:54.100 but Kelly Clarkson did.
01:22:55.300 This is an insane misunderstanding.
01:22:59.580 Nothing happened in this shop to justify her scolding our shopkeeper on the way out,
01:23:05.320 but I could let that go.
01:23:06.460 you know everybody has a bad day if it is this intense to be merely mentioned by kelly clarkson
01:23:12.340 i can only imagine how intense it is to be kelly clarkson every single day but things changed when
01:23:20.160 she used her platform to attack us it's just it's asymmetrical social warfare
01:23:24.940 he's loving every minute of it the only thing missing from that clip was um he also mentioned
01:23:33.840 that he had rushed back from having cancer surgery.
01:23:36.640 Oh, yeah.
01:23:37.260 Skin cancer surgery on his face.
01:23:39.740 And I have had the same exact skin surgery, I can tell you,
01:23:42.880 because it's undetectable.
01:23:44.860 You go into the office, you leave like 20 minutes later,
01:23:48.360 and you go about your life.
01:23:49.420 It's like nothing ever happened to you, sir.
01:23:52.520 I did say on the nerve that I lived in Brooklyn for decades.
01:23:56.580 I lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, which was ground zero,
01:23:59.420 breeding ground for this type of hipster, which is insufferable.
01:24:03.840 in effing sufferable and i i do like i think there are no winners in this scenario but i do believe
01:24:10.500 as we examine this year's zapruder film of our pop cultural zapruder uh nobody acted well here
01:24:19.720 she she said in her first social media post that that shop guy elevator eyed her and i believe it 1.00
01:24:25.460 i believe he looked her up and down and was like you're not our kind she looked like a homeless
01:24:29.640 person i called her like a dutch painter boy oh that made me laugh out loud when you said that
01:24:33.820 May I come paint the side of your house?
01:24:36.040 You've got some chips on the side, and I'll do it for $20. 1.00
01:24:39.240 What is she dressing like? 1.00
01:24:41.060 I don't know. 1.00
01:24:42.100 Yellow is tough.
01:24:43.340 It's tough to pull off, I have to say.
01:24:45.080 I'll wear it sometimes on the show, but limited basis.
01:24:48.040 And the baseball cap.
01:24:50.180 And the backpack.
01:24:51.600 And the baggy blue pants.
01:24:54.420 Don't you know who I am?
01:24:55.840 No.
01:24:56.600 No, not at all.
01:24:59.480 So I don't even know that they recognized her.
01:25:01.940 but then I'm sure she felt like they were denying her the bird on the wall with the price tag because
01:25:07.300 she wasn't cool enough to buy it. I think that's what got like, because her response is so outsized.
01:25:13.400 As you said, if you go into a store and they're like, we're not going to allow you to patronize
01:25:18.380 us, you're lost. I'll take my business elsewhere. Happy to. Honestly, if you, trust me on this,
01:25:25.080 if you are on the right wing, you have had somebody do something like this to you,
01:25:29.880 especially if you live in a blue city or a blue town or a blue state like I do. I mean,
01:25:34.980 I was 17 years on the Upper West Side with babies in Fox News onesies. Like, man,
01:25:40.740 the Navy SEALs have nothing on me, Maureen. Nothing. So it's like, you're going to take
01:25:46.800 your licks. She's, I think, just used to being universally beloved and adored. And for once,
01:25:52.980 she was treated just like anybody else. It's not for sale. The answer is no. And she couldn't take
01:25:59.280 it and we actually did a little look into kelly clarkson's fortune and it's considerable that we
01:26:06.480 got you got to look at some of this woman's homes okay they're like beautiful they're stunning i
01:26:12.260 don't know do we have the videos of them because they're like over the top nice hold on a second 0.95
01:26:17.020 i'm going to show you some of them um and she's got tons of money and i think that makes her think 0.99
01:26:22.820 she's special, you know, that she deserves to be treated better than the average person.
01:26:29.120 There's, okay, the Daily Mail had a piece on her sprawling homes from her $17.8 million
01:26:34.820 Montana ranch to her California mansions. There was a, first there was her Texas home, 0.81
01:26:40.760 almost 7,000 square feet, 14 acres, four bedrooms, two bedrooms, two bedroom suites,
01:26:46.420 a theater, a gym. She expanded it to surround the holdings by assembling more than 60 additional
01:26:51.900 acres. The main estate boasts a pond, two pools, a treehouse, and dog runs. Eventually, she sold
01:26:57.700 the 14-acre piece of it for millions. Then Nashville, 2007, she bought her Tennessee
01:27:03.060 portfolio, $1.5 million house, about 5,000 square feet, five bedrooms, six bathrooms.
01:27:08.820 She had it for four years before she sold it for $1.2 million, so on. 275-acre farm in Tennessee,
01:27:16.700 275 acres a fishing lake it also comes with its own cottage a large barn etc she sold it for 3
01:27:25.620 million in 2020 the tennessee mansion with its own cowboy bar maureen uh this is her most dropping
01:27:31.820 tennis drop jaw dropping tennessee purchase in 2013 a waterfront estate in hendersonville for
01:27:38.260 approximately 2.86 million to 20 000 square feet on more than four acres seven bedrooms up to 11
01:27:44.900 baths. An $8.5 million California farmhouse in 2018, a custom-built farmhouse-style mansion in
01:27:51.420 Encino for $8.5 million, 10,000 square feet, eight bedrooms, 11 baths. The Montana Ranch 2019,
01:27:59.480 final purchase price never disclosed, but it's known as Warren Peak Ranch, marketed for around
01:28:03.560 $10 million, spans roughly 5,700 acres. What? Court documents put the value at nearly $18 million
01:28:12.260 with black stock, that's her ex who died, I think,
01:28:18.120 ultimately receiving some portion of that.
01:28:21.900 Okay, and then finally there's the 5.45 million colonial
01:28:24.960 in Toluca Lake, which is a gated colonial style estate
01:28:30.760 built in 1936, renovated in 85, up at 5,000 square feet.
01:28:33.960 Okay, this is my point.
01:28:36.100 An enormous, enormous life of privilege.
01:28:40.560 Yes. 1.00
01:28:40.960 What the fuck? 1.00
01:28:42.260 take your insult and move on with your beautiful life instead of now headlining the Daily Mail 1.00
01:28:50.960 as the new Ellen. Oh, this is the best part to come out of it. First of all,
01:28:55.200 when you were going through the list of her properties, she may have more properties than
01:28:59.940 Taylor Swift, who is now a self-made billionaire. I don't even think Taylor has. So Gellie's net
01:29:06.240 worth has got to be astronomical astronomical and you're right she's never she it's been a long time
01:29:13.020 since she's heard the word no that's it that's it she she couldn't believe she she was told no
01:29:17.460 but now this is this is what happens now the mask has slipped you're not really america's wholesome
01:29:23.560 girl next door kelly clarkson who everybody just loves you blew it you blew it and part of it i 0.51
01:29:28.540 wonder too may have to do with i think she's on a glp1 she lost finally a lot of weight she had
01:29:34.460 struggled her whole life clearly that may be messing with her mind as it tends to it does 1.00
01:29:39.480 like her weight loss and her new sexy body no like the medication like it does have neurologic
01:29:43.960 like they're not even sure exactly why but um yes and now the daily mail yeah yes she always
01:29:51.260 struggled um she's had some face work done it seems like some really good work but um yeah the
01:29:58.480 daily mail is reporting that that her staff is like yeah she's kind of the new ellen like she
01:30:02.700 was a diva behind the scenes. She wouldn't even allow celebrity guests to get near her unless they 0.67
01:30:07.840 were on camera. And she had a security guard to her, which is not how you treat stars coming 0.86
01:30:13.220 through your talk show. No, no. I mean, I had a few stars come through in my two minutes 1.00
01:30:18.880 as a talk show host. And yeah, you don't insult them by pretending you need to be protected
01:30:24.820 from them. Robert Redford and Jane Fonda came on in it. I remember that particularly. Well,
01:30:32.700 scene segment. I remember that one. I actually, I loved Robert Redford even more during that
01:30:37.580 segment. Cause he was just sort of like, I'm staying out of this. He was a doll. Um, now I
01:30:42.260 have a, I have a weird story about, I also had skin cancer on the face one time. Oh, did you?
01:30:46.560 Yeah. Right here on my temple. You can't see it at all. Can't tell. No, but this is right. Speaking
01:30:52.040 of NBC after my, um, unfortunate departure and I was all over the news and I then found out I had
01:31:00.740 skin cancer. So I was like, oh, great. But it was a basal cell. It's like, whatever. Okay. You know,
01:31:05.440 that's not to diminish anybody's scare, but like, if you catch that early, it's a nothing burger.
01:31:10.460 It's nothing. They just cut it out and you're done. It's nothing burger, but it was on my face.
01:31:14.780 So I decided to go have the Mohs procedure, but then I decided to have a plastic surgeon
01:31:19.200 stitch it up. Oh, smart. It was on my face. You know what I mean? Like, oh, whatever. I'm in the
01:31:22.720 business. So, okay. So here's what happened. I was going over to, I went to the Mohs surgeon.
01:31:29.300 he took off the thing and then I had like a bandage you know they put a big because the
01:31:35.180 plastic surgeon was across town okay this is when I was still in Manhattan and I had to go across
01:31:39.820 town with this bandage on my face and this was at a time when the paparazzi was following me
01:31:44.860 because everybody wanted a picture of like sad me having been booted from NBC what am I doing
01:31:50.040 you know whatever and um the so I get I get oh so there's a paparazzi following me okay they're
01:31:57.720 following me from one place to the other. I'm like, Oh God, this is now they're going to try
01:32:02.040 to get a picture of me walking into a plastic surgeon's office. They're going to think I'm
01:32:06.740 getting plastic surgery. And, um, long story short, we called the office to say, is there
01:32:12.240 another entrance way I can come through? And they were like, no, but we'll have a guard out there
01:32:15.620 for you. The guard comes out holding a huge umbrella, which caused only more attention to
01:32:19.980 come to it. It was the winter. It was the beginning of December. There was no need for an umbrella.
01:32:24.020 There was no snow.
01:32:24.980 There was nothing.
01:32:25.740 The paparazzi came.
01:32:26.980 He followed me.
01:32:28.020 Just as I got into, like, the entranceway, he threw himself down on the ground.
01:32:32.180 He was taking pictures down there, like, shh, shh, shh, shh.
01:32:34.120 I was like, oh, God.
01:32:35.880 And I was getting, I guess, technically plastic surgery.
01:32:39.160 It was a stitching up of my Mohs procedure.
01:32:42.500 And I waited for the article to hit.
01:32:45.180 And do you know what they actually went with?
01:32:47.800 What?
01:32:48.980 That I was going into, I guess Random House was in the same business, same building.
01:32:52.920 and they were like, she's selling a book.
01:32:54.840 Oh, that's amazing.
01:32:56.460 I love that.
01:32:57.740 Isn't that hilarious?
01:32:58.500 I love that.
01:32:59.460 True story.
01:33:00.280 I did have Mohs surgery.
01:33:01.640 So mine was on the side of my nose
01:33:04.980 and it was really, really small.
01:33:06.600 And I went to a guy here in New York City.
01:33:09.260 My dermatologist at the time recommended him.
01:33:11.640 I loved him because he was like,
01:33:13.320 he went into his office
01:33:14.440 and it was like every major thing he had done,
01:33:19.900 like he'd been like a battlefield surgeon in like the middle east so like he he knew how to
01:33:25.800 fix people up like on the fly like macgyver style so i was like this guy's gonna make it make it
01:33:31.260 perfect but i bet like you when i emerged from the office and i had this bandage on my face for
01:33:36.740 about two weeks he did the stitch up and you can't even tell it was there it looked like i i was like
01:33:41.260 i look like i got like caught by like a stray bullet in like a nightclub shooting engineered
01:33:45.200 by like puffy or jay-z you know just like a little stray shot because the head bleeds so much it's
01:33:50.960 all it always looks worse than it is and i would say like one thing i did not do was go out to the
01:33:56.960 cameras that were trying to catch me and say please don't write anything negative about me
01:34:01.560 in my departure from mbc because i'm a cancer survivor you could have but you didn't and that's
01:34:07.260 a plus in your call i mean that kind of stuff i actually you know i'm laughing at it but i also
01:34:12.120 really do find it an affront to people who have are really fighting cancer i think his might have
01:34:18.180 been melanoma or at least he said i think i heard that which is definitely way more serious but
01:34:23.260 still like just stop like don't don't he's been milking this every day he had a presser you know
01:34:31.820 like i love the presser who has a presser so the other thing that's slowly coming to light about
01:34:37.360 these guys this operation out in brooklyn is that they're all millionaires oh really yeah people who
01:34:43.240 own this shop yeah like he wrote a children's book that guy the unwashed hipster wrote a children's
01:34:48.900 book that was apparently very popular the two other co-owners i believe are siblings whose
01:34:54.220 parents have like millions of dollars i mean it makes sense if you think about it because if you
01:34:58.160 have to make your monthly rent no you can't wouldn't you be like a pop star walked in and
01:35:02.320 wants to buy this $15,000 silly bird on the wall, buy the bird at full price. You're not even going
01:35:07.620 to haggle with me. That's my monthly rent. Give her the bird. Give her the bird. Give her the
01:35:11.840 damn bird. Maureen, I regret to tell you there is breaking news about our favorite press secretary. 1.00
01:35:21.300 She's out. That was fast. Yeah. It didn't take long at all. I mean, I would say validating our
01:35:27.080 earlier discussion about I think so where this was going and here is Trump speaking to it right
01:35:33.620 is it Trump who is it is it Trump you guys yep it's Trump Katie's been treated very badly by
01:35:39.640 the media very very badly very unfairly I think and I just spoke to her about it I said Katie
01:35:45.480 is this for you because you know she's been treated very rough and and she's a nice person
01:35:51.540 very nice person I've watched her for years on television but I said is this for you Katie
01:35:56.860 because, honestly, you don't need this.
01:35:59.740 You don't have to be treated.
01:36:01.620 I would say the fake news, but just generally the media has been very rough.
01:36:06.340 She was on Sean Hannity last night, and Sean was a little bit tough.
01:36:12.280 And she did.
01:36:12.980 I saw Fox and Friends this morning.
01:36:15.560 She's been treated, I would say, pretty nastily.
01:36:21.060 And I said to Katie, just two minutes ago, I said,
01:36:23.320 Katie, you know, you don't have to do this if you don't want.
01:36:26.860 She said, this is a lot tougher.
01:36:29.560 I said, welcome to the world of Trump.
01:36:31.700 Are you going to be here?
01:36:33.200 I'm going to let her make that decision.
01:36:37.020 She's out.
01:36:38.000 And there is, in addition to that, a senior White House official tells Peter Ducey, Katie
01:36:42.480 Zakaria is, quote, transitioning out of the press secretary position.
01:36:47.020 So it's done, which we're not surprised about.
01:36:51.480 I mean, it's like, as I said, Hannity and Fox and Friends would not have done that to
01:36:56.220 her if it didn't have trump's blessing this is the kind of stuff i love to see where he stands
01:37:01.700 there and he says you know the media was really hard on her sean was really he was rough on her
01:37:05.760 he calls attention to it like he they weren't talking like okay this is what you're gonna do
01:37:09.860 what you're gonna say and then i'm gonna throw you under the bus just a little bit just a little
01:37:13.680 bit just like it's a tiny nub of the wheel you know hannity's known for his tough questions of
01:37:17.940 conservatives who are in trouble like come on and i love hannity don't get don't get me wrong like
01:37:21.640 He's the sweetheart, but there's, there is zero chance he didn't coordinate with Trump
01:37:25.780 before that hit zero and Fox and friends too.
01:37:28.480 And I love, I adore those guys, um, but they, they know what they're doing.
01:37:33.340 And, uh, so yeah.
01:37:34.460 Okay.
01:37:34.700 So that's fine. 0.97
01:37:35.460 So we are rooting for her as a person and, but the, the stint is the press secretary.
01:37:41.840 Was it shorter than John Spicer?
01:37:43.480 Steve, can you look that up?
01:37:44.520 Was it?
01:37:44.920 I don't know.
01:37:45.660 I think it was.
01:37:47.140 Oh, well, Scaramucci wasn't press secretary, right?
01:37:49.480 He was comms director.
01:37:51.020 Was he?
01:37:52.340 Yeah.
01:37:53.280 This is way shorter than Spicer.
01:37:55.560 This might be the record.
01:37:56.520 Okay. 1.00
01:37:57.260 Well, look, she seems like a sweet gal.
01:37:59.520 And I think there may be, like when God closes the door, he opens the window.
01:38:03.780 She's got four kids who are very young.
01:38:06.880 There's a reason Caroline Levitt left that position, which she was so great at, and she knew that.
01:38:11.520 She had a second baby, and they're little, and they need their mom.
01:38:15.240 So she went home to be with them.
01:38:16.820 And I think this could be God.
01:38:18.240 I think Katie's a God-fearing woman.
01:38:20.820 This could be God telling her there may be other ways to serve the Trump administration. 0.83
01:38:25.560 This one isn't it.
01:38:26.940 And she'll get points for being loyal, but they should find somebody who is a much stronger talker and sharper communicator.
01:38:34.220 Andy Cohen may be calling.
01:38:35.700 Oh, she can.
01:38:37.260 Reality TV awaits, I think.
01:38:39.040 Oh, special forces on Fox.
01:38:40.980 Don't pick up something like that.
01:38:42.220 Don't pick up that call, Katie.
01:38:43.600 Don't do it.
01:38:44.560 How about you, Maureen?
01:38:45.240 Do you want to do it?
01:38:46.000 Do what?
01:38:46.560 Be the press secretary.
01:38:47.760 Oh, God, that is a thankless job.
01:38:49.400 I wouldn't want it.
01:38:50.240 I think you have to have, I don't know what kind of like resting heart rate you would have to have, you know, to go in there and like really do battle.
01:38:59.580 It is so contentious, you know, so that job would never be for me.
01:39:03.760 And a job too that's like everybody who's had it, you can only do it for so long.
01:39:09.500 Like there's no, you can't really, you're never going to settle into it.
01:39:12.800 It's a short stint by nature.
01:39:14.280 I would say truly the goat of press secretaries was Tony Snow.
01:39:19.400 I don't know if you remember him, under George W. Bush.
01:39:22.740 He worked at Fox.
01:39:24.740 Oh, really?
01:39:25.720 He got colon cancer and died.
01:39:27.360 Oh, I remember this.
01:39:28.420 It was so sad.
01:39:29.560 But he left Fox to go do, and he anchored Fox News Sunday to go be the press secretary.
01:39:37.300 He was just so good at it.
01:39:39.600 And no offense to anybody who's come after, because we've had some good ones, but he was the best.
01:39:44.860 He was just substantive.
01:39:47.100 He could stay on point.
01:39:49.080 he never got out of bounds. Whatever you asked him, this is how I always think like, how would
01:39:55.940 I do the job? This is how I would do it. I would never get out of bounds. I would stay right where
01:40:00.180 you put me and I would answer it substantively and be as combative as the situation demanded
01:40:05.400 or not, or not. A lot of them are gimmies. That's how he was. He was so smart. No one there could
01:40:11.780 outsmart him. It was such a tragedy. It was so sad when we lost him. He was super nice guy and
01:40:18.620 just amazing and like set the standard, but no one's been able to match that. Like with all due
01:40:24.000 respect to those who followed, there have been some with flash. There have been some who are
01:40:28.160 more combative, but there's never been anybody who is both as smart and substantive and able
01:40:33.920 to do combat hand to hand in that room as Tony Snow. You know, I feel the same way about Tim
01:40:38.840 Russert. I feel like Sunday morning television, those political shows have never been the same
01:40:44.300 And none of them learned from him, you know, and he was such a master at it.
01:40:48.840 And he was sort of like a joyful warrior, you know.
01:40:52.260 And I felt so bad when he died because, like, that was the run-up to the 2008 election.
01:41:00.020 And you could tell, you know, he sort of had that kind of, like, New York, Irish, like, Daniel Patrick Moynihan leaning, right?
01:41:08.060 Like, not out of his mind left.
01:41:09.640 Yeah, exactly right.
01:41:10.500 You know, and you could tell he was so excited to see the potential of a first black president, and he died before that happened.
01:41:19.880 And then Sunday morning television has since been awful, terrible.
01:41:24.880 It's all but irrelevant.
01:41:27.140 Yeah, it really is.
01:41:27.880 It's not completely irrelevant.
01:41:29.180 We play soundbites from it from time to time, but it's not must-see TV like it was when Russert was hosting Meet the Press.
01:41:34.460 I mean, obviously, Meet the Press is not like that at all.
01:41:36.780 I mean, Kristen Welker's fine, but she doesn't have it.
01:41:39.900 she's like she's there's nothing compelling there i was chuck todd before her he didn't have it
01:41:44.100 um chris wallace did a nice job on fox of anchoring fox news sunday like he was
01:41:48.320 he was tim russert without the charm yes you know with all the respect to chris wallace
01:41:55.860 who i've criticized many times on the show but the truth is i like chris wallace like i i you
01:42:00.180 know it's my job to rip on people when they deserve the ripping but i have no personal
01:42:03.700 animus toward him and i have a lot of fond memories of him too during my time at fox
01:42:10.140 Some not so fond, but some, a lot of great ones.
01:42:12.660 A net-net fond.
01:42:14.340 And he was great.
01:42:16.480 He was very tough on both sides,
01:42:18.400 but didn't have the thing that made you feel
01:42:20.720 really warm about him like Russert did.
01:42:23.240 Like the guy from Buffalo who like you knew grew up
01:42:26.640 with like the super snowy winters for nine months
01:42:28.800 and like trudged through the snowy fields
01:42:30.680 to go to school for years and years
01:42:32.340 and was humbled in a way that would never allow
01:42:34.960 his shoulders or head to get too big.
01:42:37.200 yes yes who always i always felt when he was behind that desk was like speaking for the working
01:42:43.240 person watching that show catching up on the news yeah right not having the time they don't live in
01:42:48.840 it the way we do and um talking speaking for for those of us right you know and like and and like
01:42:54.920 no bullshit you know like he would always and when someone would evade a question he would like a
01:42:59.680 prosecutor he would ask it three times and but like politely somehow politely politely but like 0.97
01:43:04.880 also telegraphing like you're trying to get one over on me. All right, stand by. We're going to
01:43:09.560 take a quick break, but we are obviously coming back with Maureen Callahan. I haven't gotten to
01:43:13.780 like 20 stories that we're supposed to get to. Our sponsor, the Electronic Payments Coalition,
01:43:19.460 says Washington politicians are always getting in your wallet and now they're messing with your
01:43:24.600 credit card. They say your credit card and the security it offers are under attack and that
01:43:29.740 Senators Dick Durbin and Roger Marshall want to change the nation's payment system
01:43:33.760 to benefit corporate megastores like Walmart and Target
01:43:36.900 at the expense of everyday Americans.
01:43:39.600 Credit cards can keep your payments secure
01:43:41.420 and provide rewards that families use
01:43:43.440 to help make everyday purchases more affordable.
01:43:46.440 The Electronic Payments Coalition says
01:43:48.020 the Durbin Marshall mandates
01:43:49.460 would let corporate megastores cut corners
01:43:51.640 on credit card processing,
01:43:53.340 on routing transactions over cheaper, untested networks
01:43:56.540 with weaker security and fewer protections.

01:45:03.700 Behind every business, there's Staples Business.
01:45:06.260 That was easy.
01:45:08.700 Hey, everyone. It's me, Megan Kelly. I've got some exciting news.
01:45:13.080 I now have my very own channel on SiriusXM.
01:45:16.240 It's called the Megan Kelly Channel, and it is where you will hear the truth, unfiltered, with no agenda, and no apologies.
01:45:22.140 Along with the Megan Kelly Show, you're going to hear from people like Mark Halperin, Link Lauren, Maureen Callahan, Emily Jashinsky, Jesse Kelly.
01:45:29.180 real clear politics, and many more. It's bold, no BS news, only on the Megyn Kelly channel,
01:45:35.700 Sirius XM 111, and on the Sirius XM app.
01:45:42.900 This is another story that I saw on the nerve that we must discuss, and it is,
01:45:47.160 why is Ryan Seacrest so nude and so thirsty for attention? This is sad. So he decided on October
01:45:58.640 3rd to show a shirtless photo of himself looking up at the sky during a bike ride. Let's look at
01:46:04.940 it. Um, with a caption, this is what a day off looks like from start to finish. Well, wait a
01:46:10.920 minute. This is just a video. I'm looking for the naked photo, um, where he's like got his pants
01:46:18.280 down to like his ass crack and he's showing you his buried. Look, look at this. How desperate 0.99
01:46:27.600 is he? For the listening audience, okay, he's ripped. He's got like an eight pack. Who cares?
01:46:34.160 He looks so on fire gay. Like, I'm sorry. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay, 1.00
01:46:38.740 but he tells us he's not gay. And this is like as good as coming out as you can get. You're
01:46:43.540 laughing. Come on. He looks so gay. No straight man would do this. Well, no straight man would
01:46:48.080 be that waxed. No. Like completely waxed. No. Stem discern. This lower, this pelvic bone thing
01:46:55.560 There's a slang word for that that are whatever I won't say, but, um, you know, it's interesting.
01:47:00.860 So the, and the, and the, the full on the full body spray tan, like the completely evened
01:47:05.760 out.
01:47:06.000 And then the, the carved out, I'm sure that's body makeup augmenting what's carved out there.
01:47:11.140 Now he is in his what?
01:47:12.100 Mid fifties.
01:47:13.000 Yes.
01:47:13.480 So I find this pursuit sad for a gentleman in their mid fifties who also like has whatever
01:47:19.140 I'm not particularly a fan of his, but like he has built a really impressive empire for
01:47:24.940 himself.
01:47:25.260 It's a hard worker.
01:47:26.160 Works incredibly hard.
01:47:28.180 And I would think that there would be a mind in there that might have more preoccupation than this.
01:47:34.880 We just did a piece, interestingly, on Monday on Sylvester Stallone, who gave a great interview to the New York Times.
01:47:42.340 And he spoke about at the height of his physical peak, the Rocky Rambo era, that he developed bulimia.
01:47:51.200 and he had like 2.4% body fat and he, he, he fell into what he called body worship. And he said,
01:48:02.240 the only way I could do that was with steroids. No other way. And anyone who tells you, even if
01:48:08.360 it's a man, it's diet and exercise, that's not true. And he said, I can see it a mile away.
01:48:13.140 And by the way, Ryan Seacrest is saying that. I mean, Ryan, we all know better now. We all know,
01:48:19.660 There's no way he's not on a GLP-1.
01:48:21.740 There's no way.
01:48:22.600 And when you see him now-
01:48:23.640 Just my opinion, as you would say.
01:48:25.400 Right, just my opinion as well.
01:48:27.240 His face, he was a good-looking guy.
01:48:29.720 A little bit too vanilla for my taste, but good-looking.
01:48:32.300 But now he's gaunt.
01:48:34.200 His cheeks are hollowed out.
01:48:36.340 He looks like he's starving.
01:48:38.700 Yes, he definitely needs a hamburger.
01:48:40.920 I could give him one because I have nothing but red meat in my diet now and ferments.
01:48:45.000 This is not approved.
01:48:46.220 Sean O'Meara is going to be very disappointed.
01:48:47.680 Sean, I had to do it.
01:48:48.740 Maureen is here. But no, I, I agree. It's too much. And like, there's, there's a bunch of
01:48:54.220 nonsense on his alleged diet and exercise routine. He told Entertainment Tonight, he's, he's eating
01:49:03.280 better. He's overtraining, lots of recovery, lots of muscle recovery, cold plunging and steaming.
01:49:10.860 Okay. I cold plunge. I steam. I sauna. I, that, that doesn't cause that. It doesn't cause that.
01:49:18.640 And by the way, someone like Ryan Seacrest, who is working 14 to 16 hours a day.
01:49:24.540 And why do we have this video?
01:49:25.740 Okay.
01:49:26.020 Look at the lighting.
01:49:27.020 He put it out.
01:49:27.760 Look at this with the closeup.
01:49:29.260 This is like some sexual surrogate video.
01:49:31.760 Look at this. 1.00
01:49:32.960 He's like pulling the big weight in between his legs.
01:49:35.880 This is like, is he looking for a date or what?
01:49:38.280 Apparently this is his trainer who puts out these videos of Ryan.
01:49:41.420 Obviously with Ryan's blessing, this is what ruined Chris Lick's career.
01:49:44.860 Look at this.
01:49:45.420 Look at this.
01:49:45.880 With the legs open.
01:49:47.160 The V open. 1.00
01:49:48.640 like a woman having sex? 0.97
01:49:51.000 You know, this is like relatedly to me to the, 0.95
01:49:53.780 I don't understand this.
01:49:56.340 This is full on body worship.
01:49:58.140 But again, he is not, in my opinion, telling the truth.
01:50:01.420 You cannot work 14 to 16 hours a day
01:50:04.120 and then have the time and energy to do that.
01:50:06.660 That is a full-time profession.
01:50:08.520 Oh yeah.
01:50:08.820 If you're maintaining that body
01:50:10.140 and according to Sly Stallone,
01:50:11.840 you're still doing it with the help of drugs.
01:50:14.700 That's your full-time job.
01:50:16.180 Yes.
01:50:16.420 It was like the first time I ever went to Miami.
01:50:18.640 Doug, when we first started dating, was living in Palm Beach and he took me to Miami and
01:50:22.920 everyone had such a ripped bod.
01:50:25.240 And I remember saying, does anyone work here?
01:50:28.760 Does anyone have an actual job?
01:50:31.640 Can't possibly be this ripped with this little body fat and still have a job.
01:50:37.880 Look at this.
01:50:38.320 Look at this, Maureen.
01:50:39.660 What is that?
01:50:40.620 It's a coming out party.
01:50:42.120 That's what it is.
01:50:42.680 what straight man would ever allow that image to go out over the national airwaves let your
01:50:51.980 freak freak flag fly yes right lean in you're 51 like it's cool nothing wrong with that not
01:50:57.460 there's anything wrong with that not that not that we're stating anything but our opinion well
01:51:01.400 and plus like honestly he's hosting wheel of fortune now aren't we past the point where people
01:51:05.500 would judge a gay wheel of fortune host like who cares no one cares about gayness anymore oh my god
01:51:11.580 The best game show host going, and it's a reality game show, is Alan Cumming on The Traitors. 0.98
01:51:18.380 Oh, really?
01:51:18.840 Which, if you haven't seen, is really, really fun.
01:51:21.180 And it started as a peacock show, but it was such a smash.
01:51:24.340 NBC has moved it over to late night primetime.
01:51:27.000 I love him in the movie, Emma.
01:51:28.760 He's incredible.
01:51:29.760 I love him.
01:51:30.560 Yes, he was great.
01:51:31.440 Yeah.
01:51:31.980 And he really leans into the camp of it.
01:51:35.800 And like every, every, every set scene, he's got like a different costume and he's won
01:51:41.260 Emmys for it because he, he enjoys it and he's just being himself, but like a heightened
01:51:45.640 version of himself, you know?
01:51:47.100 All right.
01:51:47.300 What's it called?
01:51:47.980 It's called traitors.
01:51:49.780 Okay.
01:51:50.160 Traitors.
01:51:50.760 Can I tell you, Doug and I just watched, I think it was six parts.
01:51:55.500 For some reason we got on this stint of foreign series.
01:51:59.860 First, it started with the agency, which now there's an English version of that people
01:52:03.760 are watching right now about the CIA.
01:52:05.800 here but that the agency was based on the first version before that came before it which is French
01:52:11.340 which is named the agency in French I don't speak French and it was very good and I it only had
01:52:18.780 captions it didn't have voiceover which I have to say is harder yeah you know you have to keep your
01:52:23.320 eyes open yeah and we're all tired and getting old so it's like at the end of the night you're
01:52:27.220 kind of tired you want to drift off for like a few minutes then come back and you can if you
01:52:31.100 have voices, whatever. It was very well done. I really enjoyed it. So then we got drunk on our
01:52:36.320 own wine and doubled down on foreign films or whatever. And we went for this Norwegian series
01:52:43.480 about a guy. It was very Nancy Guthrie-esque. A guy whose wife was allegedly kidnapped. It's
01:52:52.460 based on a true story. Allegedly kidnapped. And the kidnappers in a note asked the husband,
01:52:59.140 don't involve the police and don't tell the media okay so for the first like several weeks six weeks
01:53:05.060 to a couple months the media wasn't told and wasn't reporting on it and then they were told
01:53:10.480 and then they were agreeing not to report on it for this woman's safety and they were involving
01:53:14.900 the police but the police were kind of keeping it quiet for this reason and then it morphs into
01:53:18.840 wait a minute did he kill her have we like fallen into a trap here so i'm so in i'm like this is
01:53:26.240 great. And now this is all in Norwegian, except it has both captions and voiceover. I would tell
01:53:31.700 you what the name of it is, but I cannot, I don't know. It's a bunch of Norwegian words that I can't
01:53:36.840 repeat. Is it on Netflix? It ends in scored. I don't know. Who knows? Is Doug running this
01:53:42.100 whole operation? Okay. But listen, here's the reason why it's not important. Because I'm going
01:53:47.960 to give you a spoiler alert right now. We were into it. We're like, did she get kidnapped or
01:53:52.260 did he kill her? Like, what happened? And then there's a split between the police department
01:53:56.320 and the press. One faction thinks one thing, one faction thinks another. And it ends, again,
01:54:02.960 spoiler alert, with the lead detective who we've been following for six episodes where somebody
01:54:07.620 says, what happened? And she said, I have no idea. Wow. It ended on that because it's based
01:54:16.320 on a true story and it hasn't been solved. You know what that reminds me of? The staircase.
01:54:20.540 i'm so mad maureen this is such bullshit i invented invested hours and hours of my life 0.98
01:54:26.320 on this well do you have a theory of the case no i don't know anything needed to wrap it up for me 0.98
01:54:30.640 i wasn't like that involved okay you have to tell me what happened i like it's like the staircase
01:54:35.780 have you seen that staircase okay he did it he shoved the first wife down the staircase in
01:54:41.680 germany oh definitely yeah and so what are the odds of the second wave just tumbled down on her
01:54:46.280 own but if so there's two versions of it and both are incredible the the documentary right which
01:54:51.760 which um introduces the german victim i think later yes right so it's a nice plot twist and
01:54:58.580 then the hbo series adaptation with colin firth and tony collett yes yeah and they reenact the
01:55:04.220 the bird theory oh yeah do you remember that which is incredible it was incredible but also a lie
01:55:09.220 also a lie i don't believe it if you if you're in a foreign film thing right now or series also if
01:55:15.020 you haven't seen anatomy of a fall oh i recommend that now you may not like that because it doesn't
01:55:20.560 end it with a bow you have to have your own theory of the case oh steve crack i was endorsing as well
01:55:24.660 incredible it's it's it's about a famous author a woman her husband or partner and they have a small
01:55:31.880 boy they have a fight he goes off the balcony and dies did she do it oh and it's french it's set in
01:55:41.940 France and the lawyer in you will be fascinated because I didn't know the French criminal justice
01:55:46.060 system worked this way. I don't know. There's like a panel of judges who hear the case. It's
01:55:51.140 not one judge. I've seen that depicted in some other movie. Gosh, I can't. Oh, it's on the tip
01:55:59.840 of my tongue. I did see that depicted in another movie. Whatever. It doesn't matter. Okay. I'm
01:56:04.120 into it. Anatomy of a fall. Anatomy of a fall. You know what? Doug and I recently started rewatching
01:56:08.320 mad men oh it's a great great one it's so good brilliant i i started re-watching it and then i
01:56:14.760 looped dug in but it's so good i mean i know john ham is a sociopath but such a great role
01:56:20.220 i think he was born for that role he was perfect in that role i i loved him and i i was so
01:56:26.400 disappointed when i learned like the truth about his nature but as far as like actual television
01:56:31.540 it's just it's incredible i'll never forget the episode you won't be surprised by this but the
01:56:37.260 the episode they do on the day that Kennedy was assassinated.
01:56:41.260 Yeah, no, I saw it.
01:56:42.200 I saw it recently.
01:56:43.880 You did?
01:56:44.500 Yeah, so, so good.
01:56:46.100 And that's that scene where it's,
01:56:48.300 I don't know if it's Jon Hamm's character,
01:56:50.600 Don Draper, or someone else who walks into the office
01:56:53.260 and the phones are dead.
01:56:55.420 Like the phones aren't ringing.
01:56:56.800 Yes.
01:56:57.260 And that's the sign that something catastrophic has happened.
01:56:59.920 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:57:00.840 Pre-internet, right?
01:57:02.540 Oh, wait, wait, I misunderstood.
01:57:04.400 I saw recently the one where Kennedy is elected over Nixon, not where Kennedy goes.
01:57:10.040 Oh, I don't remember that one.
01:57:10.480 I'm not quite there yet.
01:57:11.520 Okay.
01:57:12.020 Yeah, the day that Kennedy is elected, they all expected Nixon to win.
01:57:15.580 Right.
01:57:16.140 Like, it was a tight election.
01:57:17.740 And then he had some friends in Chicago do some favors for him and put Kennedy over the top.
01:57:21.680 The more things change, the more they stay the same.
01:57:24.920 All right, let's keep going because there's other things we need to get to.
01:57:27.020 Speaking of thirsty, unattractive people on camera, Lena Dunham, okay.
01:57:35.180 The show Girls is getting a reboot, and to announce it, they did this weird fake Zoom call between her and Zosha Mamet and Allison Williams, the daughter of Brian Williams, the two other stars of that show.
01:57:50.980 Adam Driver's apparently not.
01:57:52.740 Oh, great catch.
01:57:54.380 Yeah, not going to be a part of it.
01:57:55.740 um here's the weird fake soundbite uh zoom call sat 34
01:58:00.740 al hi leans oh hi sorry didn't wait a long time no like what 15 16 16-ish minutes hi guys
01:58:12.100 zosh hi zosh i got another big say hi jam can you hear me i'm just gonna find a lighter okay
01:58:20.720 she should be permanently muted um yeah what did you want to ask us lanes okay so we used to spend
01:58:26.620 like every summer together you know doing this thing that we do making the show and is it is
01:58:31.540 it something that you would want to do again are you are you free next summer i mean as long as
01:58:36.740 it's not too much of a commitment i'm not doing like a year yeah summers one summer's worth i
01:58:42.180 can't tell what i'm hearing right now so i'm just gonna ask are you in i'm in i'm in i'm in what's
01:58:48.100 up ladies hi what are we doing next summer girl girls would you want to do girls again next summer
01:58:53.700 i'm in but only because you trash cans need constant supervision i have a question though
01:58:58.820 seriously can we still call it girls because we're like old as 0.67
01:59:02.460 okay i expect the nerve to go all in on this the way you did on the sex in the city reboot
01:59:11.900 I, as a fairy godmother, am requesting this?
01:59:16.800 Consider it granted.
01:59:18.920 No, I said to Marlena, our producer, the other day,
01:59:21.080 I was like, this is our new hate watch for 2027.
01:59:23.400 Yes, yes.
01:59:24.060 We'll be doing it weekly.
01:59:25.300 Lena Dunham has become a rectangle.
01:59:31.080 Here's what struck me about that.
01:59:32.800 Like, when she showed up and you went, whoa,
01:59:34.980 I had the same initial reaction, 0.99
01:59:37.220 is that she's so filthy looking. 1.00
01:59:39.700 Again, it's that sub-genus, that Brooklyn hipster that we just saw outside Art of Play. 1.00
01:59:44.360 Her hair is greasy.
01:59:45.960 Her lenses are foggy and greasy.
01:59:48.660 She looks like she hasn't brushed her teeth.
01:59:51.020 Look at it. 1.00
01:59:51.220 She's slovenly, like, why? 1.00
01:59:53.360 Rectangle. 0.94
01:59:54.220 It's just—
01:59:55.220 Am I wrong?
01:59:56.340 No.
01:59:56.920 This is what I find disturbing about her, because there are people who do struggle legitimately with, like, psychological issues, medical issues.
02:00:06.340 And I, you know, that's terrible.
02:00:10.900 I think that Lena is very psychologically damaged, very.
02:00:15.000 And I think she considers her body part of her art.
02:00:18.240 She's telling us that there's something fundamentally profoundly wrong with her.
02:00:22.100 Yeah.
02:00:22.580 She is.
02:00:23.020 It's why we all kind of are like, wait, what's going on here?
02:00:25.960 Why are you presenting this way?
02:00:27.640 Who needs a reboot of this series?
02:00:31.160 This is the series.
02:00:33.040 I've told the audience this before.
02:00:35.720 Doug and I watched a few episodes of this, and then we saw an episode where Lena Dunham's character, and Lena Dunham herself, was playing ping pong naked.
02:00:47.680 I remember this episode.
02:00:49.300 And Doug was like, I'm out.
02:00:51.040 I'm out. 1.00
02:00:52.400 Patrick Wilson, that was the episode where she was showing she was still effable, even though she's not a traditionally attractive gal. 0.97
02:00:58.840 And she cast Patrick Wilson, who's a traditionally good looking guy, as like this guy who couldn't stop himself from having sex with this creature all weekend long and playing nude ping pong. 0.98
02:01:10.440 It was too much. 0.77
02:01:12.560 Now, Adam Driver is the only one who's gone on to really do something really big out of that.
02:01:17.300 I mean, that the Alison Williams character starred in the movie Megan, which I'm familiar with because my kids love horror.
02:01:24.340 Yeah.
02:01:24.800 And it had my name.
02:01:25.680 So we went to see it.
02:01:26.340 Oh, yeah.
02:01:26.840 By the way, I'm totally going to see the Elizabeth Holmes documentary like this weekend.
02:01:33.340 I'm very excited to see that.
02:01:35.080 I cannot wait to see that.
02:01:36.580 We'll talk all about it next week.
02:01:37.880 But anyway, so I did see, so she hasn't really done that much.
02:01:41.540 Zosia Mamet, she hasn't really done much.
02:01:43.620 Adam Driver became a big star, played Kylo Ren, like among many other roles.
02:01:50.520 He doesn't want anything to do with this.
02:01:52.040 And apparently it didn't end well between Adam Driver and Lena Dunham, who like was accusing him of inappropriate behavior on the set.
02:01:58.540 Like, sure.
02:01:59.500 OK.
02:02:00.300 In the pages of her book.
02:02:02.000 Right.
02:02:02.280 In the pages of her most recent memoir said he threw things at the wall, you know, and like it was kind of stringing her along, potentially romantically.
02:02:10.260 It's like, why would he have anything to do with her?
02:02:13.380 Oh, my God.
02:02:13.900 His brand is so much bigger than hers now.
02:02:15.960 Wasn't he nominated for an Oscar for Marriage Story with Scarlett Johansson?
02:02:21.060 Maybe.
02:02:21.320 he's very well respected now. He's a great actor. She was lucky to find him and cast him in that
02:02:26.520 show. Um, but I just wonder, like, uh, he said, he's had two Oscar nominations, he tells me. Um,
02:02:33.480 but I wonder whether there's an appetite for this, you know, like what, what do you think
02:02:37.940 Lena Dunham brings to the conversation in 2027 America? Nothing, nothing other than I am a freak
02:02:44.760 show. Yeah. And I wasn't, I wasn't all that surprised to see this reboot, which by the way,
02:02:49.500 It's like five episodes.
02:02:50.840 It's not like even an entire series.
02:02:52.260 Oh, that's like Meghan Markle's second series of as ever.
02:02:55.060 Exactly.
02:02:56.020 Because everything Lena Dunham has tried since Girls has failed to launch.
02:03:01.140 She's done any number of independent films.
02:03:03.600 They have all flopped.
02:03:05.460 The book is one thing, but like there is not an appetite, for lack of a better term, for Lena Dunham culturally.
02:03:13.060 Dad.
02:03:13.520 Yeah.
02:03:13.800 I see how you sneak that in there.
02:03:15.180 That was just circumstantial.
02:03:17.160 I didn't mean it that way.
02:03:18.280 I did not.
02:03:19.100 You're a writer at heart. It just comes to you. All right. Now, Shane Gillis is in the news for
02:03:24.440 making a joke, which is absolutely true, that women sometimes dress like whores at the gym. 0.99
02:03:29.460 Everyone wants to change it to, he said, women are whores, which is not what he said. He said, 1.00
02:03:33.640 women are dressing like whores now at the gym, which they totally are. It makes all of us 1.00
02:03:37.500 uncomfortable. Cover up. I don't want to look at your vag while I'm trying to work out. That's for
02:03:43.060 you and your boyfriend, sister. Why do I want to look at that? They obviously want us all looking
02:03:48.200 at them. And then they posted a little Instagram video being like, oh, he was looking at me. Well,
02:03:52.820 then show up with clothes. Stop it. Okay. So now the shrapnel around Shane Gillis is landing on 0.51
02:04:03.200 other men like Travis Kelsey, who liked a tweet that had the monologue in it. I mean, who knows
02:04:10.240 what part of it he was liking? Right. Whatever. Who cares? But he's now taking a beating and
02:04:16.180 And they're re-upping like old clips of Travis Kelsey saying things that the left wing mob, these feminine Nazis, find offensive.
02:04:26.940 Like here he is inside 18. 0.61
02:04:29.640 What is your least favorite word?
02:04:33.080 No.
02:04:34.800 Probably a common word, huh?
02:04:36.320 No, I haven't heard that.
02:04:37.540 What turns you on?
02:04:39.880 No.
02:04:42.440 I'm kidding.
02:04:43.340 That was creepy.
02:04:46.180 okay whatever now they're very angry that he's not respecting no as opposed to like 0.99
02:04:54.060 he's on a stupid podcast he's trying to make a clever turn of phrase this is the best he can do 0.96
02:04:58.640 yeah yeah yeah like hello and then let me show you this maureen so is it michael shea is that 0.99
02:05:07.840 you pronounce that? C-H-E? Che, I think. Che? Yeah. Okay. So he goes on the Today Show and
02:05:16.200 this is just this week. This is yesterday. And apparently there's a new person on the Today
02:05:20.720 Show I've never heard of before named Laura Jarrett, who is absolutely terrible. Fucking 1.00
02:05:26.380 awful. And look at her try to talk. I guess he was on SNL that night, that same night as Jane 1.00
02:05:33.680 gillis he's always on as you can see i don't watch snl okay he's always on okay forgive me michael i
02:05:40.520 i stay away from nbc um well he's so he got goes on on the today show this that makes it even worse 0.99
02:05:46.680 so he's on nbc and he goes on another nbc property the today show and this idiot laura jarrett paints 0.98
02:05:52.980 him like he is shane gillis which is would be fine by the way there's nothing wrong with what 0.97
02:05:58.780 shane gillis did but she look how she treats him and tries to like aha i've got you in every
02:06:05.240 question she asks him she is horrid watch in all seriousness how are you thinking about what
02:06:10.720 happened this week with shane's opening monologue you've seen the pushback no again that's it that's
02:06:15.300 comedy it's like um you think it's funny and then and then some people don't did you laugh at what
02:06:22.440 he said i was at cue cards actually thinking about what i was going to say that i was going
02:06:27.520 make people upset so i wasn't really i didn't even see it so like the next day and you thought
02:06:35.920 oh she's horrid i didn't think about it honestly i think it just didn't it just was like
02:06:43.120 you know if you if you had seen it ahead of time because the writers get to see the opening monologue
02:06:48.320 right ahead of time they get to see the drafts if you're not working it's there's so much going on
02:06:53.200 you really it's really hard to really hard to see what everyone's doing you know yeah especially
02:06:58.920 like if like for me i'm not what they call good at my job so i don't pay attention to 0.99
02:07:05.560 okay she is an asshole every question which was designed to hurt him to set him up to say 0.98
02:07:15.220 something controversial and he was too clever for her to his credit he just kept getting at a dodge 1.00
02:07:21.160 Which, good for him, because why feed the beast?
02:07:25.460 How is this his problem?
02:07:26.680 Right.
02:07:27.240 He does the weekend update.
02:07:29.220 Do you want to ask somebody about this?
02:07:31.380 Ask Lorne Michaels, okay?
02:07:33.560 Or stop cashing your check.
02:07:35.920 Yeah.
02:07:36.560 I was reading the LA Times piece of coverage of this,
02:07:39.580 and this is the third time, apparently, Lorne Michaels has had him hosting the show.
02:07:44.260 They hired him in 2019.
02:07:45.700 They were forced to fire him over resurfaced tweets.
02:07:48.500 Yeah. And when did comedy have to start being polite? You know, when like the days of George Carlin and Richard Pryor and even Eddie Murphy, like you're supposed to shock you a little bit and offend you a little bit. And this is this is awful. And so Lorne Michaels just goes, apparently he's got a place in Maine and he just runs off to Maine when stuff like this happens and lets it blow over.
02:08:09.640 But, like, Michael Che is at least being, like, you can see he's, like, surprised there.
02:08:13.900 The Today Show is not a cultural court of litigation.
02:08:17.300 You go on the Today Show to get glad-handed and, you know, whatever.
02:08:20.740 Yes, a certain male gesture comes to mind.
02:08:22.660 That's what you expect there.
02:08:23.700 Yes.
02:08:24.180 How is this his responsibility? 1.00
02:08:26.620 I know, she was so nasty.
02:08:27.580 Warren, whatever your name is.
02:08:28.820 No one's ever heard of her.
02:08:30.020 I had no idea that this was even the Today Show when I first saw, oh, my God, you know who it is?
02:08:34.720 Who?
02:08:35.440 It's Valerie Jarrett's daughter. 0.55
02:08:37.000 Stop it. 0.98
02:08:38.260 Stop. 0.97
02:08:38.620 Stop. 1.00
02:08:38.980 it's like they only hire the nepo babies jenna bush hager laura jarrett yeah laura jarrett that 1.00
02:08:45.440 makes what a fucking nightmare that girl was that explains the lack of charisma did you laugh 0.98
02:08:51.460 you laughed i saw the ends of your mouth turn up well weren't you weren't you on aren't you at 1.00
02:08:57.680 rehearsals like what is he supposed to do ring the fire alarm you know you know a sexist joke
02:09:03.120 you use the word horror you don't think worse goes on at those snl parties those after parties
02:09:07.400 the drugs stop stop she's cashing the check just like jenna bush hager who purported to be outraged
02:09:15.440 by the joke too you're so outraged what why don't you give back the check that's blood money do
02:09:21.180 something about it don't just sit in your little perch and try to make others look bad actually put
02:09:25.220 your money where your mouth is no they won't no because it's too important to them they just want
02:09:29.220 virtue signal that's it with their little weird cabal meanwhile cecily strong who became a star 0.66
02:09:36.680 on SNL. She's played, you know, tons of famous characters. She's played me. I've met her. She 0.99
02:09:43.820 was very nice, but this is bullshit. What she just did. She did. Um, this is back when the left 0.99
02:09:49.780 loved me. All right. Yeah. You know, during that period. Uh, so I have nothing against her
02:09:54.540 personally, but she came out and posted something in response to the Shane Gillis controversy
02:10:00.380 being like, I'm on my way to my gym. Maybe I'll stop by and do some sex work on the way,
02:10:05.140 you know, with like a picture of her. All right, just stop. Shane Gillis said nothing. This is 0.98
02:10:11.660 her in a rainbow socks about all women, like whatever. Some women dress appropriately, 1.00
02:10:17.420 like apparently Cecily in a rainbow socks and some women dress like hoes. That's life. That's 1.00
02:10:22.900 America. Deal with it. But instead she decided to pile on and dump on Shane Gillis, which is so 0.75
02:10:29.160 fucked up. So she's decided to go out there and be like the champion of women. So we decided to 0.99
02:10:34.940 look back to see is she a champion of woman what that she like portray them in those favorable 0.87
02:10:41.000 light at all times because she wants to make sure no negative stereotypes are perpetuated
02:10:45.280 let's check in on soundbite 14 hi we aren't porn stars anymore i'm brocky and you can too
02:10:55.220 and we aren't porn stars anymore but that doesn't mean that we don't have a taste for the
02:11:04.360 Hi, Ned.
02:11:05.500 Did somebody say, should you let the dogs out?
02:11:07.920 No.
02:11:09.200 Yeah, okay.
02:11:12.320 One time, I got banged in the Statue of Liberty's head.
02:11:16.840 I felt like I was hearing all of America's thoughts. 0.87
02:11:20.440 And America was thinking, more manual blonde, Dixie, please. 1.00
02:11:26.940 I don't have a butt anymore. 1.00
02:11:28.980 I got banged in it so hard 0.96
02:11:32.060 the doctors had to amputate
02:11:34.440 I woke up from surgery like
02:11:37.980 what the heck
02:11:39.440 I thought I got banged
02:11:46.420 into a solar eclipse
02:11:47.780 but I was really just locked in a trunk
02:11:50.680 looking through the keyhole
02:11:52.000 I was like
02:11:56.560 either way
02:11:57.360 oh wait a minute i thought we weren't supposed to make fun of women's looks or women at all we
02:12:03.720 were all about female empowerment uh i guess the rules are different when you can get clicks yeah 0.92
02:12:10.080 what she tweeted was on my way to pilates and my new slutty ass orange shoes and rainbow socks 1.00
02:12:15.820 uh and then might as well sell sex on the way not sure she was there for 11 seasons maureen 0.99
02:12:23.220 11 seasons. 0.99
02:12:24.960 And by the way, then she said,
02:12:26.080 P.S., there was a gang rape at Cornell
02:12:28.100 that maybe won't count because the New York law says
02:12:30.860 if you consent to drinking,
02:12:32.980 you consent to all that happens to you.
02:12:35.260 Do I need a grape emoji to post about this real thing
02:12:38.800 that happened?
02:12:39.680 So once again, the link between his joke 0.99
02:12:42.720 about women dressing like sluts at the gym 0.98
02:12:44.840 to the Cornell case, which is absurd. 0.99
02:12:48.800 And one more point. 0.68
02:12:51.500 If she's so protective of women, where was she when all of this was happening on SNL? 1.00
02:12:59.380 Sot 16.
02:13:01.140 Good morning, guys.
02:13:02.220 It's an honor to be here today.
02:13:03.880 For those of you who don't know me yet, my father is Mike Huckabee, and my mother is
02:13:08.300 a big southern hamburger.
02:13:10.320 And though I may be leaving this job, I will not be ending my mission.
02:13:14.540 As I told my plastic surgeon, the work is never done.
02:13:20.580 While I look forward to what comes next, leaving is bittersweet, but the time has come for me to turn in my badge, gun, lips, lashes, teeth, and forehead.
02:13:33.420 As Attorney General, Pam Bondi was, and I don't say this often, terrible.
02:13:38.420 It is a shame when somebody gets fired, but we should all get, we should all be glad that that freckle-chested dragon lady is gone.
02:13:47.120 I'm sure you're going to have other opportunities.
02:13:49.760 Yeah, you could work in sports. I mean, you already look like a woman's basketball coach who got suspended for pulling on a player's braid. 1.00
02:14:01.400 You think so?
02:14:04.320 I don't remember Cecily Strong speaking out about any of that.
02:14:08.120 No, no. This is Cecily Strong's problem. Like Lena Dunham, she's not been relevant since leaving SNL.
02:14:14.840 You know, very few people who leave SNL go on to big careers after that.
02:14:19.680 They all think it might happen for them, but it's few and far between.
02:14:24.360 It's been a long time.
02:14:25.320 It's been a long time.
02:14:26.520 So for her to like jump on this and like what she posted is so virtue signally too,
02:14:31.040 because she looked like you don't see any skin. 0.98
02:14:33.760 She's basically like, oh, I have to do Sharia law now at the gym. 1.00
02:14:36.880 Like, please stop, stop. 1.00
02:14:39.380 Right.
02:14:40.560 It is desperate.
02:14:41.980 It's like, come on.
02:14:43.100 Like the amount that the women who are weighing in on this comment by Shane Gillis as though it's obviously this sexist offense that he has to be condemned and canceled for.
02:14:53.580 He's already been condemned and canceled.
02:14:54.920 Like how many times can he cancel the same person?
02:14:57.000 They asked him back on, notwithstanding the first cancellation.
02:15:01.920 It's crossed to the point of absurdity, which brings me to Casey Anthony.
02:15:07.140 I couldn't believe this when I saw this in the email today.
02:15:10.040 Casey Anthony has decided to weigh in on Shane Gillis and SNL. Women can dress however they 1.00
02:15:19.980 want. This is from her sub stack, which I'm sure you're all subscribed to. Women in the gym can
02:15:24.240 dress however they want. Men who have opinions about how women dress need to all the way go 1.00
02:15:29.420 fuck themselves. This toxic masculinity trend needs to end. These fragile men need to get out 1.00
02:15:35.700 of the way of women in totality. We do not answer to you. We do not dress for you. We do not need 1.00
02:15:41.820 your useless opinions. Choose men who are allies with women. She goes on to say, 0.99
02:15:49.580 I, okay, this is somebody else's comment about, um, it's about women. Let's go. Way to go, NBC.
02:15:56.800 Let's bring on white supremacists and known misogynists. He's also not funny. And then she 0.98
02:16:01.680 says, I have said this too many times and I will repeat it as many times as necessary. Conservatism
02:16:07.940 is literally killing people. That's Casey Anthony. You bitch are the only one who has killed somebody
02:16:15.680 your own two-year-old. So fuck right off. No one wants you in this conversation. You murdered your 1.00
02:16:21.200 daughter. We all know it. Stay quiet and perhaps we'll ignore you. Otherwise, we don't want to see 1.00
02:16:28.720 or hear from you at all the nerve of this bitch to think she can comment on anything in the culture 1.00
02:16:34.240 it's shocking because you know had she not murdered her daughter which we all believe she did 1.00
02:16:42.440 uh her daughter would be living in this culture and could maybe tell us what she herself thinks 0.59
02:16:46.900 of these things now you know what i mean the idea that like casey anthony could hold herself up as 1.00
02:16:52.020 some sort of morally outraged feminist whose voice we need in this is she fucking for real 1.00
02:16:57.760 A spokesperson on misogyny? Women hatred? What age women are you defending? Because it doesn't 1.00
02:17:04.340 seem like you love the two-year-olds. Walk us through it. Who are we allowed to hate and not
02:17:10.060 hate? Because I guess we can't hate women who are of age to go to the gym and dress like sluts, 1.00
02:17:14.460 but if they're two, we can fucking murder them? That's cool? I'm just trying to get your moral 1.00
02:17:19.300 code straight. I wonder if she was emboldened by the Lindsay Clancy trial. I wonder. I wonder
02:17:25.640 she feels some sort of sorority with that like you know if you want to talk about misogyny and 0.99
02:17:31.780 like women in the culture casey anthony we all know would never have gotten nearly close to an 1.00
02:17:39.100 acquittal had she not be been a semi-attractive young white woman yes that's if she had been a 1.00
02:17:43.840 poor black woman forget it she'd be on death fucking row so she could shut her mouth but i 1.00
02:17:50.700 think she's been emboldened by this lindsey clancy thing i i think she has that's actually a very good 1.00
02:17:55.500 point. I mean, not a week goes by that we don't see another story about a mom killing her children
02:18:02.920 in the wake of Lindsay Clancy. It's becoming like an epidemic. We're supposed to just ignore it.
02:18:08.140 Like they're not inspired by her, but we have copycats now and it's sick. You know, this,
02:18:13.660 the whole thing is freaking sick. All right. Speaking of bad moms, uh, Halle Berry, I don't
02:18:19.460 know if she's a bad mom or not. There's a dispute about whether she's a bad mom. She is in like a 0.73
02:18:24.980 death fight with her ex-husband, who is, is it Oliver or Olivia? It's Olivia, I think, Martinez,
02:18:34.660 who I think most of us only know from the hot French guy in the one with Diane Lane and Richard
02:18:43.060 Oh my God, such a great movie. Unfaithful. Unfaithful. Thank you. So good. By the way,
02:18:49.120 when I went to see that, I was a young lawyer. We were trying a case in Davenport, Iowa. We'd
02:18:54.260 been out there for months and that movie came out. And so our lead trial council was looking to just
02:18:58.900 take the team out for like a night to blow off steam and have fun. And, you know, I guess we
02:19:02.980 hadn't really fully researched it. Uncomfortable viewing. We sat, I remember sitting in this movie
02:19:12.020 theater in Davenport, Iowa with two junior associates on my left and my right, men, young
02:19:17.260 men and like no one touched their popcorn no one touched their soda it was like look straight ahead
02:19:27.080 and don't make eye contact with anyone oh my god the scenes were so racy it was like a porno it
02:19:34.240 was such a good movie it was so good and so actually i have a story about where they shot
02:19:40.720 it but like it's it's i love that movie and i love diane lane in it and speaking so good what
02:19:45.140 we've been talking about just like i love the way diane lane is aging i love it goals same 100
02:19:52.820 and even in that movie they made a comment about like how her ass is still where it was in college 0.89
02:19:58.060 i love that comment because a that's true for diane lane in that movie because you do see her 0.83
02:20:02.580 naked and b i've thought about it many times i hit my mid-50s hashtag goals not met who knows
02:20:11.360 where it's at now but she's she's aging with such class and elegance and i just i love it i love
02:20:16.720 that story about unfaithful like like today you could you could bring that to hr and threaten
02:20:22.960 some sort of like why were you sandwiched between two men watching a movie about a hot extramarital
02:20:27.300 affair with multiple sex scenes you know they all get sued today yeah right in there yeah i don't
02:20:31.860 think no one was complaining no i'm sure not it was a great movie truly it was like so awkward
02:20:36.680 it's like watching something with your parents you know something sexy with your parents like
02:20:40.440 we're dying to show our kids oh my whole family loves uh thrillers yeah we love watching thrillers
02:20:44.860 together all three kids and Doug and I and of course one of the greatest thrillers of all time
02:20:49.760 is Fatal Attraction but we can't show the kids that like the elevator scene no I know yeah Doug
02:20:57.460 actually tried to show he was like how about Sliver I'm like no oh no what how about Sliver
02:21:04.060 watch sliver honey
02:21:06.460 we did watch
02:21:09.000 and loved together the five of us
02:21:10.780 sleeping with the enemy
02:21:11.620 oh I remember seeing that in the movie theater
02:21:13.980 and that guy who played her husband was amazing
02:21:16.240 he like fell off the face of the earth
02:21:17.960 who was that guy? I don't know but he was so good
02:21:20.460 he was terrifying
02:21:21.720 so terrifying
02:21:22.820 we love that one and we love
02:21:25.300 and it's good for this time of year
02:21:26.400 what lies beneath
02:21:29.120 I've never seen it
02:21:30.880 oh Maureen you've got to watch that
02:21:32.860 I'll do it this weekend.
02:21:33.940 Michelle Pfeiffer.
02:21:34.380 It's Robert Redford?
02:21:35.100 No, Harrison Ford.
02:21:36.280 Oh, right.
02:21:37.100 Right, right.
02:21:37.300 Michelle Pfeiffer, Harrison Ford. 0.59
02:21:39.400 And the woman who played the grownup version
02:21:42.080 of Christina Crawford in Mommy Dearest, 0.67
02:21:44.860 the blonde girl.
02:21:46.340 Remember?
02:21:46.820 You know Mommy Dearest, of course, right?
02:21:48.280 I know who this is.
02:21:49.300 And when she became the adult and she's like-
02:21:51.740 On the soap opera.
02:21:52.520 Yes, on the soap opera.
02:21:53.720 That girl, she's in it.
02:21:55.080 Diana Scarwood. 0.63
02:21:56.460 For the win.
02:21:57.660 I know.
02:21:58.060 I have a lot of useless information rattling.
02:22:00.440 But I did see, like, when I was, like, I was raised in the summers by HBO, right?
02:22:05.360 Yeah.
02:22:05.600 So I don't know about you, but, like, they would play these movies on a loop, and I think
02:22:09.500 I must have watched Mommy Dearest one summer, like, 80 times.
02:22:12.500 Yes, same.
02:22:13.400 Yeah.
02:22:13.900 Only now I've become, like, a sick person when it's on because I laugh because it's
02:22:17.580 so campy.
02:22:18.160 It is campy.
02:22:18.940 It's just campy.
02:22:19.780 It's like, and one time we, my kids were in the room, and they were like, why are you
02:22:23.860 laughing?
02:22:24.200 but like when she's chopping the rose bushes you have to laugh with all that makeup on her face 0.93
02:22:32.900 the pond's cold cream she's so angry she's chopping the rose bushes i laugh every time
02:22:37.320 but she's not hurting anyone in that scene she's not hurting anyone no but it's a it's a it's it's
02:22:41.540 such a great movie it could if it had just veered the other way it could have been a real classic
02:22:46.020 but it ruined her career her whole career yeah she was just so she became known so much for that 0.93
02:22:52.460 role it's such a shame too because she was such a star they done away in network network and then
02:22:58.880 like when you watch faye dunaway in that movie with like sorry i'm putting my stuff on the table 1.00
02:23:03.860 she's got the legs the legs out like yes in the bathing suit or the in the bathing suit and the 1.00
02:23:11.300 robe it with like the hair up in the towel you're like oh my god that's hollywood glamour right 1.00
02:23:17.940 there it really is she nails that it really is and she's playing such a boss in network like such 1.00
02:23:24.660 an incredible yeah like so ahead of her time but like mad as hell and i'm not gonna take it anymore 1.00
02:23:29.280 yes but she had all that femininity like the way she was costumed and like these silks like they
02:23:34.660 kept the feminine it was it's incredible three days at the condor one of my all-time favorite
02:23:40.740 films ever yes both of them like the star power is like falling off of the page robert redford
02:23:47.600 in that movie is like, you can't take your eyes off of him in that pea coat. He's always running
02:23:52.320 to a pay phone. He's got the pea coat up like this and then the aviator's on. It's like,
02:23:56.840 I die for Robert Redford. All right. Who is hotter, Robert Redford in The Way We Were or
02:24:03.440 Tom Cruise in Top Gun? Redford, no question. Easy. Easy. Wow. Redford oozed sex. Tom,
02:24:12.720 you look at him on a screen and you're like, objectively, this guy, unconventionally beautiful.
02:24:17.600 like a face that like works somehow if you took this the parts off maybe not so much yep but i 0.78
02:24:23.860 like when he's doing like love scenes it's it's difficult i find like he doesn't ooze sex yeah
02:24:31.720 i agree who would you rather be julia roberts in pretty woman or jennifer aniston and friends
02:24:40.100 julia roberts in pretty woman she's got bite she's not like a mewling like i'm so cute i'm
02:24:46.480 like 35 aren't i still cute no like jen like julia roberts is like formidable you know and like has 0.81
02:24:53.660 has street smarts and is gonna like figure it out like yeah yeah minus the prostitution um okay so
02:25:00.380 how about christy gnome or katie zakeria neither neither is i do not shoot dogs i love dogs as we
02:25:09.700 know and i like you said you said barrel curls i like that alone like that like there's a deer in
02:25:16.100 the headlights quality to katie that i just i sympathies r.i. p rbg or sandra day oh sandra day
02:25:26.600 yeah oh come on like a little girl looking in the pages of time magazine like the first female 1.00
02:25:31.520 supreme court justice she was pretty sandra day no offense to rbg who was like she was a badass 1.00
02:25:36.300 in her own right she wasn't my cup of tea politically but a badass in her own right but 1.00
02:25:40.300 Sandra Day was always very beautiful. She had it all. She had this beauty, sex appeal, a great
02:25:46.920 family, and then goes on to become the first female Supreme Court justice. And what I admired
02:25:51.200 about her too, I don't even know if I was really clocking it at the time, but there wasn't a kind
02:25:55.700 of like, look at all, agreed she did. And I'm saying as a little girl, I really looked up to
02:26:01.460 her, but there was no sort of like, look at all the boundaries I've broken. She just did it.
02:26:04.980 Like she let her presence make the statement, right?
02:26:08.320 Yes.
02:26:08.940 You know who is like the biggest badass of them all in Hollywood?
02:26:13.040 Who? 1.00
02:26:13.300 Catherine Hepburn.
02:26:14.580 Oh, yeah.
02:26:16.000 I really admire her.
02:26:18.060 What's your favorite Catherine Hepburn movie?
02:26:20.040 I mean, I came of age when on Golden Pond was the biggest film that she was in.
02:26:25.040 You know, she was obviously before our era.
02:26:27.580 And I loved her in that.
02:26:29.040 But I read her autobiography.
02:26:31.820 I need to read that.
02:26:33.040 It's so good.
02:26:33.600 It's me.
02:26:34.160 It's called me.
02:26:34.980 And you have to wait for it if you can get it on Amazon, but it takes a while to get there because it's out of print.
02:26:39.500 It's been out of print for a while.
02:26:40.460 But she, Doug was like, why are you reading that?
02:26:42.620 Because it's so not timely and not connected with anything. 0.98
02:26:44.880 And I was like, I just wanted to read a bio about like a truly badass woman. 1.00
02:26:50.180 You know, not this fake badassery that we see everywhere today, but somebody who is like really a fucking A. 1.00
02:26:55.300 Like she came up in a man's world for sure and didn't complain about it. 0.98
02:27:00.240 She was raised by a very loving family.
02:27:03.000 but the dad, you know, I think I may have told you this,
02:27:05.180 like made them do trapeze work over a gravel driveway.
02:27:08.480 No, I didn't know that.
02:27:09.720 Yes, yes.
02:27:10.440 He wanted them to take risks,
02:27:12.040 but she was a, she got her leftist credentials. 0.81
02:27:14.220 She went to Bryn Mawr, you know, she did all that stuff, 0.98
02:27:16.560 but she just did not suffer fools, Maureen. 0.96
02:27:19.580 Like she, she got bad reviews and she was like, 0.96
02:27:22.580 oh, I thought I was wonderful.
02:27:24.520 I guess they think I was horrible.
02:27:26.000 Like she was just a realist.
02:27:27.680 She was the opposite of these like virtue signaling, 1.00
02:27:31.600 victim, like women today who are looking for their next crisis or like syndrome that they 0.95
02:27:39.960 don't actually have to make themselves feel special. She would have been horrified by what's 0.66
02:27:45.900 happening with some young American women today. She was all grit. And I just really admire her. 1.00
02:27:53.600 So one of the most, I love a good Hollywood memoir and I'm reading and I'm really savoring it.
02:28:00.440 Jean Tierney is one of my favorite movie stars of all time.
02:28:03.140 I think I've spoken to you about Laura before,
02:28:05.540 which is an incredible New York City film noir
02:28:08.280 that I know you would love.
02:28:10.200 You would love it.
02:28:12.560 But Jean Tierney, she was like Hepburn
02:28:15.360 in that she came from, I believe, New England,
02:28:17.680 East Coast, wealthy family, best education,
02:28:21.380 a face like nobody else before.
02:28:23.340 She was spotted by someone who was like,
02:28:24.940 you're a movie star, you're a movie star.
02:28:26.920 And her memoir opens.
02:28:29.680 And she's standing on the ledge of her mother's apartment building in Midtown Manhattan on the 15th floor and wondering if she's going to jump.
02:28:37.600 Oh, wow.
02:28:38.140 Uh-oh.
02:28:38.980 And the defining moment of Jean Tierney's life, the before and the after, during World War II, she was active in the war effort.
02:28:48.100 She was pregnant with her first child.
02:28:50.120 She was dying to become a mother.
02:28:52.060 She goes to this USO event, this war event, and she meets a lot of people, shakes hands,
02:28:58.520 gives birth to this child with such severe developmental delays that the child has to
02:29:04.880 go live in a home.
02:29:07.000 Smash cut to like 15 years later, this woman comes up to her and says, Jean, I'm sure you 0.72
02:29:11.720 don't remember me.
02:29:12.980 I met you at that war event and I had like rubella and my doctor told me, don't go out
02:29:19.700 of the house, but I just had to meet you.
02:29:21.520 And it was that human contact, the shaking of the hands that infected her unborn baby
02:29:28.480 and caused those developmental delays.
02:29:30.980 So Jean Tierney lived with this her entire, it's such an incredible story, but it's told
02:29:36.000 without self-pity.
02:29:37.280 It's told without, you know, look at me and everything I've survived.
02:29:41.320 It's just, it's, it's a unique.
02:29:43.320 Yes.
02:29:43.660 Without self-pity, it's such a difference from where we are today.
02:29:47.700 Yes.
02:29:48.420 Catherine happened to write in that book about when her mom died.
02:29:51.100 She was close.
02:29:51.780 The whole family was very close.
02:29:53.940 Her brother died.
02:29:54.880 Her brother either committed suicide or died in what looked like a game of pretending to strangle himself.
02:30:01.680 It's an ambiguous, weird thing.
02:30:04.080 It seems like he killed himself.
02:30:05.280 But I don't know.
02:30:05.700 He sounded very happy.
02:30:07.100 And like he hanged himself like off the side of the bed.
02:30:10.920 It was very weird.
02:30:12.120 But when her mom died, and she was close to the mom, she writes about like, I walked in the room.
02:30:16.360 There she was.
02:30:17.020 She was dead.
02:30:17.540 And she was in the bed and like, okay, you got to support dad now. Like, I'm not saying you
02:30:22.960 shouldn't mourn the people who are in your family, but like, it was such the opposite attitude of what
02:30:28.980 we have today, where it's like, nothing bad has to happen to you at all. You can just adopt other
02:30:36.220 people's upset as your own and ask people to feel sorry for you. You know, that you're so distressed
02:30:42.400 by the George Floyd thing.
02:30:44.320 You can't complete your law school exams
02:30:47.460 at the end of the year, which was a thing.
02:30:49.320 Like it's now like borrowed sorrow
02:30:53.140 that people are latching onto.
02:30:55.480 It's just the opposite of strength and resilience
02:30:57.360 and what I think the true American spirit was based on.
02:31:04.620 Like we made that a term based on real people
02:31:07.860 and we're losing it.
02:31:09.060 Yes, and what's so, so great
02:31:11.480 about the stallone interview that i was mentioning earlier is i had no idea his childhood was his
02:31:16.180 childhood i didn't know anything about his childhood beyond abusive beyond abusive megan
02:31:20.920 and then they sent him to a home for like they sent him to like a mental institution for a week
02:31:25.440 and i mean what and he says in the interview i'm saying things i didn't even put in the book because
02:31:30.840 i don't want a pity party like oh poor sylvester that's not me that's definitely not him and rocky
02:31:37.200 was the outgrowth of that grit and that determination
02:31:40.980 that this does not define me.
02:31:43.920 But at 80 years old, he's sitting there talking about
02:31:46.720 giving his father a pivotal, tiny role in Rocky.
02:31:51.520 He's ringing the bell, the pivotal Apollo Creed fight,
02:31:54.780 and his father won't do it.
02:31:56.100 He won't play ball. 0.99
02:31:57.300 He's like fucking with the scene. 0.95
02:31:59.040 And Sylvester says to himself, he says to the interviewer, 0.97
02:32:01.220 he says, I know it shouldn't surprise me
02:32:05.560 that he was going to do that.
02:32:07.200 But, um, I said to myself, I want to put him in this movie because I just want him to love
02:32:12.300 me for a little bit.
02:32:14.280 He says, just love me for a little bit, you know, and he couldn't even get that, but he's
02:32:18.920 also, he's, he's relaying like these very human stories that speak to everybody's inner
02:32:23.160 child.
02:32:23.840 Everybody's got pain from being a child.
02:32:26.080 Right.
02:32:26.800 And he's all, he's saying, I survived it.
02:32:29.340 So can you, right?
02:32:30.760 I survived it.
02:32:31.580 So can you not like those two, like Harry and Megan, like, Oh, for me and my kids.
02:32:37.200 Castle.
02:32:37.980 I'll never be fulfilled, you know?
02:32:40.080 Okay, okay.
02:32:41.560 And honestly, like, again, forgive me,
02:32:43.860 but like, I know Harry's mom died at a young age.
02:32:47.800 I too was a teenager when I lost a parent, my dad.
02:32:50.880 But like, to make this the defining feature
02:32:53.720 of who you are, you know,
02:32:55.640 to like, this is the thing that has to come up
02:32:57.620 all the time, is such a loss.
02:33:00.580 It's such a missed opportunity.
02:33:01.980 It's such a sadness.
02:33:03.180 And like, how disappointed Diana would be
02:33:05.680 that he's chosen to do that?
02:33:06.980 how disappointed my dad would be in me if I ever chose to do that.
02:33:10.500 Like that's, that doesn't, that, that's part of your story.
02:33:13.340 It's not your story.
02:33:14.740 Yes.
02:33:15.760 Yes.
02:33:16.160 And you would think that I think the healthy way to integrate it would be if
02:33:20.200 Harry were healthy, his mother would want him to have a wonderful life,
02:33:24.280 a fulfilled, happy, joyful life, go forward and do that in that's a,
02:33:28.960 that's honoring her legacy, right?
02:33:30.900 Yes.
02:33:31.360 But to, to remain stunted and rageful and resentful is, is,
02:33:35.360 is not the greatest Testament.
02:33:36.560 But you and I both know, in a way, that's honoring her legacy, too.
02:33:40.160 I know.
02:33:40.800 I know.
02:33:41.300 Like, we don't talk about it because she died tragically, and she's this figure, 36 years old, like Marilyn, like so many of the figures.
02:33:47.780 But Diana was very, very troubled.
02:33:49.800 She was.
02:33:50.540 She was extremely troubled.
02:33:51.740 She was.
02:33:51.980 And, like, Wills is lucky he takes after his father.
02:33:55.120 Mm-hmm.
02:33:55.640 That's the truth.
02:33:56.580 Like, we can admire her as an icon, a fashion icon, a fascinating figure by any measure.
02:34:02.520 Yes, yes.
02:34:03.140 As they all are.
02:34:03.960 They're multilayered.
02:34:04.740 Like the most fascinating people are multilayered.
02:34:06.740 They're not like perfect figures, but you know, Harry,
02:34:10.280 Harry's got his mother's issues. That's obvious.
02:34:12.400 And he married somebody with even more issues than both of them.
02:34:16.100 Yeah.
02:34:16.340 And I also think that William had the benefit of being the older child as the
02:34:20.260 older child, you are exposed to a lot more.
02:34:23.580 The younger children, like they're buffeted from it. You know,
02:34:27.440 they don't see as much or hear as much.
02:34:28.900 Like I definitely have memories that my brother doesn't have and somewhat vice
02:34:32.680 versa. But as the older, I think William probably admitted to himself more about his mother's faults
02:34:40.380 than Harry probably could. I'm going to start being a lot harder on Thatcher.
02:34:43.760 I think that's really, is that your takeaway?
02:34:47.220 I got to really put him through the ringer. I want him to wind up strong.
02:34:54.340 We love you all. This turned into a three hour extravaganza. Thank you so much for listening.
02:34:59.460 please do go and subscribe to The Nerve.
02:35:01.600 You will thank me and Maureen.
02:35:04.000 It's such a wonderful program
02:35:05.120 and I love you, my dear friend.
02:35:06.640 I love you, Megan.
02:35:07.600 Thanks for being here.
02:35:08.440 Thanks for having me.
02:35:09.260 All right, have a great weekend.
