00:01:04.740 New East. Hey everyone, I'm Megyn Kelly. Welcome to The Megyn Kelly Show. Wow, what a night.
00:01:16.740 It was a blue tsunami after all. And this morning, the Republican Party is in ruins.
00:01:25.100 And maybe it needed to be. The choice now for Republicans is to reflect, rebuild,
00:01:34.860 and reinvent in the image of no man. They're going to have to do it on their own.
00:01:43.540 They're going to have to learn how to win without daddy on the ballot and to find their ethical center and not just be puppets of Trump's, not to have their entire political world revolve around Donald Trump.
00:01:59.320 That is one of the things that the voters told them last night.
00:02:02.140 We're sick of the fact that you don't act like an independent branch of government.
00:02:06.460 You happen to be the first branch.
00:02:08.060 And we expect you to act as one of the separate powers as the founders envisioned.
00:02:15.820 This was one of the things they said in the exit polling, that they did not believe Congress was doing an adequate job acting as a check on presidential power.
00:02:23.760 The whole system is designed to have three different branches, each of whom can check the other in their own way.
00:02:29.360 the electorate that turned out whether you were young or old black or white hispanic asian
00:02:37.620 male or female republican or democrat or independent told the republicans they were
00:02:43.580 disgusted with them they were disgusted it wasn't like you're mildly annoying we're not really in 1.00
00:02:49.380 your camp anymore it was fuck off you have betrayed us so all bets are off now trump 0.99
00:02:59.200 sent out a post this morning reminding us that he is still our president. In name, he is. And 1.00
00:03:07.460 let's not kid ourselves. There's a lot he can do in the foreign policy front from that position.
00:03:13.620 Domestically, his agenda is now over. That piece of his presidency, the domestic piece of it,
00:03:20.900 is effectively over. He has absolutely no one who is going to work with him in the U.S. Congress
00:03:26.560 unless he becomes a Democrat, unless he starts legislating like a Democrat. 0.71
00:03:32.860 The Democrats who were elected last night, many of them are DSA types who are more radical
00:03:39.320 than the previous Democrats. I don't know how much of an appetite there's going to be to work 0.61
00:03:45.060 with Donald Trump. He will either bend to their will or there will be no legislation that goes
00:03:51.080 forward. They're not going to bend to his. They actually did just win in a mandate in a landslide
00:03:57.620 election. So Donald Trump has been hobbled by the events that happened last night and the
00:04:07.380 Republican Party has as well. And they did deserve it. I'm sorry. President Trump did a lot with his
00:04:14.300 pen and his phone via executive order, many of which we applauded him for many of those things.
00:04:19.360 But the truth is that the American people are hurting, have remained hurting, and were not helped by this president or his policies.
00:04:29.100 And instead of him focusing like a laser on doing something to actually help them, and let's be honest, at two years into it now, we see those tariffs are not on the list of things that help them.
00:04:39.540 To the contrary, they appear to have really hurt people in border states like Michigan and in states that depend on agriculture like Iowa.
00:04:48.880 And they had their say about those consequences last night, not to mention people in agriculture who have been suffering thanks to the fertilizer problems coming out of the Strait of Hormuz and so on.
00:04:59.720 These are presidential decisions that he made.
00:05:03.120 And the Republicans did not stand up to him. 0.54
00:05:05.300 They were not they did not vote in favor of reigning in his war powers.
00:05:09.580 There's a question about whether that would have been constitutional at all, given the way the Constitution structures power.
00:05:14.240 But they didn't even try.
00:05:17.320 They, you know, most Republicans sat by and said nothing as Thomas Massey was voted out of the U.S. House, who was a vocal critic of these decisions.
00:05:27.540 MTG was bullied out as well by Trump, who was a vocal critic of decisions like the Iran
00:05:33.180 war and just the drumbeat for war in general.
00:05:38.100 And now the Republican Party is going to have to get really honest with itself because Trump's
00:05:42.820 power to primary you and threaten you has been eliminated.
00:05:49.040 What is left right now of MAGA, of core MAGA?
00:05:51.900 It is a shadow of its former self, because what core MAGA has basically told us, and Donald Trump put words to that today, is it is irrelevant unless Trump is on the ballot.
00:06:03.420 And Trump will never be on the ballot again, never on the ballot again.
00:06:08.040 So if that's true, and that's what Donald Trump says.
00:06:12.060 OK, Donald Trump is the one who says MAGA does what he wants it to do, and that had he been on the ballot, there would have been a different result.
00:06:18.640 But without him on the ballot, MAGA can't win.
00:06:21.900 then that means the Republican Party is in pieces, that the Republican Party and the
00:06:29.340 Republicans who are not considered MAGA are no longer beholden to any one group. Because guess
00:06:34.880 what? They don't have your back. But just forget it. Forget about yesterday's factions. Forget
00:06:40.760 about old establishment. Forget about MAGA. Forget about neocon. Forget about non-interventionist.
00:06:46.800 You got to rebuild, my friends. Start from scratch. Figure out what worked in the past and start cobbling together something ethical that bears some resemblance to a party with a moral center that understands the mood of the country.
00:07:06.720 and we really mean it, is anti-war and anti-Mideast wars in particular.
00:07:15.380 Most people who are Republican voters want a robust, strong military and we want to be ready
00:07:20.460 to use it defensively if necessary. But we don't want a bunch of fucking bullshit about how Iran 0.99
00:07:27.100 is two weeks away from getting a nuclear weapon months after you bombed their three main nuclear 1.00
00:07:31.700 facilities into oblivion. We don't want it. We don't want to be lied to. We don't want to risk
00:07:37.880 American blood and treasure on another Middle East field. We want legislators who are focused
00:07:46.360 on the problems of the most suffering Americans, of the working class Americans who time after time
00:07:54.280 try to vote in leaders who will actually help them, who will not be focused on AI data centers
00:08:01.220 and how many jobs they can eliminate thanks to bots in favor of AI bots.
00:08:08.680 They don't want to elect somebody who promises them that they understand the objection to these elite globalist government concentric circles of power
00:08:19.900 that cover up for pedophiles, etc., like Epstein.
00:08:23.480 And then when they get into office, say, Epstein?
00:08:26.480 Who cares about Epstein? You're still talking about what?
00:08:28.960 Stop gaslighting us. 0.99
00:08:31.220 If you don't care about Epstein, then tell us, I don't give a shit about Jeffrey Epstein. 0.99
00:08:35.900 Move on while you're running. 0.98
00:08:37.660 Don't, through your surrogates and all the people that you are going to elevate into power, tell us you do care. 0.98
00:08:42.960 And then make us feel like assholes when we actually want you to care. 0.90
00:08:46.440 When we vote for you, we put you in office, and then you turn around and say, I don't. 0.97
00:08:50.260 That promise, that rhetoric was untrue.
00:08:54.160 My rhetoric about no more wars was untrue.
00:08:58.180 what I had on every arena around the arena. Trump will fix it was untrue. Stop going on camera and
00:09:08.600 celebrating how much money, quote, we are making when you know the average person cannot take a 0.98
00:09:15.200 damn vacation. The Red Baron guy speaks for way more Americans than Donald Trump does right now. 0.96
00:09:23.420 The guy who missed the kids going to bed by an hour, couldn't pay his mortgage, had to be back on the job at 5 a.m. the next morning. 0.98
00:09:34.320 That guy doesn't give a shit how much money you're making or the tech bros are making, the crypto millionaires, the A.I. companies, the trillionaires. 0.98
00:09:44.040 They don't care.
00:09:46.320 They need actual help.
00:09:48.340 and they're so desperate for it. They just voted back into power. The very party that caused their
00:09:57.440 problems. See, we all have short memories because we go about leading our own lives. We focus on
00:10:03.220 our jobs. We focus on the minutia. We focus on the bills that are piling up on our desks. Trust
00:10:07.820 me, it's been a while since I've been in that position, but I remember it. I remember the sick
00:10:13.820 feeling you get in your stomach when the bills come and you cannot pay them. And you see your
00:10:19.080 credit card bill mounting because that's the only place you can go to actually pay your utility
00:10:23.600 bills. And you know where this is going to lead. I've seen it happen to my mom, my poor sister,
00:10:32.220 God rest her, my nana, and when I was a young woman to me. And these people don't want to hear
00:10:39.880 Trump talking about how much money we're making off of tariffs or whatever scheme he's got going
00:10:45.860 when they see none of it and don't think he's focused on it. When he does deviate off of that
00:10:51.800 kind of economic messaging, which is not reassuring, he's talking about the reflecting
00:10:55.780 pool or the ballroom or the pipes or, you know, one of his other vanity projects like The Arch.
00:11:02.720 it there's a tone deafness to it that led to anger anger that's the message we got from the
00:11:14.380 voters yesterday the nonsense of this past year came to fruition last night trump launched an
00:11:22.500 unnecessary war in iran in the middle east the very thing he promised us that he would not do
00:11:28.920 When that happened, he lost control of his party.
00:11:33.800 Some large faction of his party turned on him and made that clear last night.
00:11:38.920 And you don't have to take my word for it.
00:11:41.520 Take the word of his own vice president.
00:11:45.880 J.D. Vance just took to X this morning and in a long post, which is worth your time, said the following.
00:11:53.580 One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was composition.
00:11:57.380 whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win.
00:12:02.540 And he goes on and on and on sort of setting that up and then says, our voters actually
00:12:07.840 did show up.
00:12:08.820 They showed up last night in Florida.
00:12:10.860 For example, the electorate was nine points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple
00:12:14.640 points worse than 2024.
00:12:16.840 Undoubtedly, there were places we could have done better on turnout, but the main problem
00:12:19.940 was not turnout.
00:12:21.080 The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump vans in 24 voted for Dems in 26.
00:12:27.040 There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is.
00:12:31.020 One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn't sharp enough down the stretch.
00:12:35.560 I'm sure that's true.
00:12:36.980 But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
00:12:41.600 Another pollster, one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we would lose the generic ballot by 13 points.
00:12:48.380 I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this.
00:12:51.300 In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats.
00:12:58.360 Trump 2024 voters were planning to vote for Democrats.
00:13:02.420 He asked them, those voters who had abandoned us, what would cause them to come back on our team?
00:13:07.620 The top four answers accounting for nearly all of the responses were, one, end the war.
00:13:13.400 Two, focus on the cost of living and inflation.
00:13:16.440 Three, put America first. 0.71
00:13:18.780 four, change our relationship to Israel. Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons 0.85
00:13:28.020 are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results.
00:13:33.920 While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy on Fox for calling for a diplomatic
00:13:38.600 resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. She's also a great
00:13:43.560 person, he writes. In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting.
00:13:48.160 Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty.
00:13:53.820 I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for example.
00:14:01.700 But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
00:14:05.220 The reason we lost is the war.
00:14:09.200 The reason we lost is the war.
00:14:12.520 The president himself said so last night.
00:14:14.960 If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next six years was worth it, then do so.
00:14:21.620 Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay.
00:14:23.560 Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
00:14:25.600 But everyone knows why we lost.
00:14:27.680 And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
00:14:31.800 I remain hopeful about our country.
00:14:33.920 To the people who are pissed off and want to say I told you so, you're right.
00:14:37.000 You did tell us so.
00:14:38.760 Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview.
00:14:42.500 you. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let's take that anger
00:14:46.960 and get back to the work of saving our country. What happened this past year in response to Trump's
00:14:57.640 behavior in the Middle East? You know as well as I do. The people who objected to it, Republicans,
00:15:05.760 right-leaning independents who objected to it, were promptly attacked by the president
00:15:09.300 and others as anti-Semites.
00:15:13.360 President Trump didn't use that word,
00:15:14.780 but Mark Levin certainly did.
00:15:17.480 Anti-Semites, neo-Nazis,
00:15:19.620 because you can't criticize Israel 0.56
00:15:22.800 or its role in getting us into this war,
00:15:24.980 in goading President Trump into this war.
00:15:26.780 For that, President Trump is responsible.
00:15:29.040 But there was a role without question.
00:15:32.100 Marco Rubio admitted that right after we invaded,
00:15:35.760 that we did it for Israel.
00:15:37.860 No, you said it.
00:15:38.980 you were called an anti-Semite. You got trolled by bots unleashed on you by people registered as
00:15:47.080 foreign agents for Israel here in the United States. Americans attacking other Americans
00:15:51.540 for their honestly held opinions about a new Middle East war on behalf of Israel.
00:15:59.540 That's what happened. And guess what happened from that point to this one?
00:16:03.360 The Republican audience for all news Trump disappeared. Fox News's ratings have been
00:16:11.700 in the dumpster. The right-leaning podcast world had audiences disappear in the wake of that.
00:16:21.320 No one had any interest or appetite in anything related to Donald Trump. It was a harbinger
00:16:27.760 of things to come. Then they showed up and voted last night and said the same to him.
00:16:35.580 We're no longer interested in the Trump show. We're over the antics, the grift,
00:16:43.580 the making money off of the backs of the American people who just wanted you to help them.
00:16:49.700 Not you, not yourself, not make your $1 billion go to $12 billion. 0.51
00:16:57.960 To surround yourself with a field of grifters who want to make money off of the presidency as opposed to serve, be actual public servants in a humble role that was never meant to make someone a million or billionaire.
00:17:13.240 air. It's incredibly disheartening, and it's such a missed opportunity. It's such a missed 0.98
00:17:21.960 opportunity by this president who had the world at his feet, in his hands, who had so many of us
00:17:28.520 believing in him. I'm a registered independent. I'm more right-leaning, I think, than your average
00:17:34.340 independent, because when we hear how the independents feel, I'm always like, oh, wow,
00:17:38.200 how are they so easily swayed? But I'm not a Republican. I've been a registered Democrat.
00:17:42.900 I've been a registered Republican. And for the past 20 years, I've been a registered independent.
00:17:46.380 And that's where I will always be, because I will never put back on a team jersey for either one of these parties in whom I do not believe.
00:17:54.280 But the Republicans have an opportunity here.
00:17:58.120 You know how like the new woke speak in schools, if your kid is having a problem, it's that they never have a problem.
00:18:05.280 There's a real opportunity here. There's an opportunity for growth.
00:18:09.080 And I do believe that this is finally the chance for the Republican Party to not throw away MAGA core ideals, which are good, which are important, and which Trump should be credited for thrusting upon the American people who refuse to listen to him, upon the political class, which refused to listen to people like the working class suffering.
00:18:30.540 But they need to take the good, discard the bad, and come up with a new way forward.
00:18:38.300 And they're going to have to find their own new, charismatic, honest, ethical leader.
00:18:45.700 You can't ride the Trump coattails anymore.
00:18:50.540 They're non-existent.
00:18:53.040 He cannot save you.
00:18:55.420 He would have, this would not have gone differently had Trump been on the ballot because he effectively was.
00:18:59.660 This was a referendum on him and his policies. So it's a lie. It's not true. It's Trump's spin
00:19:04.680 to say it would have been a landslide for Republicans had he been on the ballot. That's
00:19:07.960 just not true. Everyone knows he can't handle the truth about losing. He's allergic to that word.
00:19:13.300 Of course, he's blaming everyone other than himself. So far, he's blamed Fox News. He's
00:19:19.220 blamed the Republican candidates themselves. He has not taken any of the blame himself,
00:19:24.460 even though he spent the past three months telling everybody, pretend I'm on the ballot.
00:19:28.240 Now that they have, he he ignores and forgets that advice.
00:19:34.480 But the bottom line is that a message was sent and there is a chance to rebuild this party.
00:19:41.320 It's happened over and over and over again, where a party gets crushed, absolutely devastated in one election.
00:19:48.140 And as short as two years later, they come back with a roar.
00:19:51.660 but denying what last night was really about. The economic suffering was number one by far,
00:19:59.200 by far. The Iran war was huge. 74% of the people said it was a major or the critical factor in
00:20:07.000 their vote. And why? Yes, because they objected to Trump launching a new war, but really it was
00:20:11.640 the pain they were feeling domestically as a result of it. It was the gas prices, the diesel
00:20:16.560 prices. Remember when Doug came on after he wrote his book, The Mysterious Case of Rudolf
00:20:21.740 Diesel, which was all about Rudolf Diesel, who invented the diesel engine. And Doug told us
00:20:25.960 how many pieces of the world economy, and that includes ours, are linked to diesel fuel,
00:20:34.660 to diesel engines, planes, trains, automobiles, the major trucks on the roads, the major rigs on
00:20:42.240 the ocean, the tractors, you name it. They all run on diesel, which has been over $7 a gallon.
00:20:51.580 People cannot afford it. And they saw it go up exponentially after the Iran war. So yeah,
00:20:59.440 I don't, there's nobody who's independently in favor of the Iran war other than the most
00:21:02.960 ardently neocon of the neocons. But regular folks who are like, I don't know what we're doing in
00:21:08.780 Iran. I don't have the time to think about it. Do have the time to think about the fuel costs, 0.85
00:21:13.060 and they know that that caused them. So what we need now is honesty, radical honesty,
00:21:22.200 radical. And what radical honesty means is you tell the truth all the time and there's no filter.
00:21:27.960 I don't know about you, but that's where I am. That's where I've been for a long time.
00:21:32.400 And I did lose some of my audience as a result of my opinions and my forecasts on this issue,
00:21:37.040 which I feel have been validated, but that's okay. That's fine. People have the right to
00:21:43.200 make the call on whose opinions they want to hear and who they trust to tell them what's real and
00:21:49.220 who they don't. We've settled now with our audience and we're in a very good place and
00:21:53.600 I'm very grateful to all of you for it. But the Republican Party is not, not in a great place.
00:21:59.460 however as i said it's an opportunity here's the current count in the house the democrats
00:22:08.300 have won 228 seats so far they only needed 218 to come back to power compared to just 139 for
00:22:15.740 the gop 68 seats have yet to be called by the associated press but cook political says the
00:22:22.000 dems are on pace to pick up around 30 seats nbc news is projecting the dems end up with
00:22:28.700 258, which would be the highest number for the Democrats this century. If that projection comes
00:22:36.480 true, the Democrats would have an 81-seat majority in the House, 258 seats to the Republicans, 177.
00:22:44.740 258 to 177. In the Senate, it was far worse than virtually anyone predicted. The current count is
00:22:52.740 54 seats for the Democrats. They had 47 before. 54 seats for the Democrats. 44 for the Republicans
00:23:00.640 who had 53. Alaska and Mississippi are too close to call. And when we say they are too close,
00:23:08.660 boy, do we mean it. In Alaska, the absurd, absurd Democrat Mary Peltola currently leads 1.00
00:23:17.460 incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, 48.2% to 47.9, with an estimated 74% of the votes 1.00
00:23:29.040 counted. In terms of raw votes, listen to this. Peltola leads by just 626 votes. 626, which is
00:23:38.740 far fewer than the 3,583 votes for decoy Dan Sullivan. The fake Dan Sullivan has 3,500 votes.
00:23:51.480 Call it 3,600 because it's 3,580 something. 3,600 votes. And she is leading the real Dan Sullivan
00:23:59.600 by some 600 votes. This is, it's working. Peltola's campaign plan is working.
00:24:09.220 Siphoning off those votes that would have put the real Dan Sullivan potentially over the top.
00:24:13.120 We'll see how it pans out. In Mississippi, which almost nobody paid any attention to,
00:24:19.200 that was such a long shot, Lucy with the football, fool's gold type discussion. 0.57
00:24:24.300 even 24 hours ago. Democrats aren't going to win a Senate seat in Mississippi. What are you talking 0.99
00:24:30.360 about? When you think about the deep red states, you think Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi.
00:24:36.960 Think again. 96% of the ballots are counted. The Democrat Scott Colom leads incumbent Republican
00:24:45.560 Cindy Hyde-Smith by 43 votes. And the outstanding vote is reportedly favoring him.
00:24:54.300 the Democrat. So it looks very much at this hour like we are about to have our first black
00:25:00.540 senator from the state of Mississippi, and it will be a Democrat to whom no one paid any attention.
00:25:11.180 We could have a 56-seat majority for the Dems. Nebraska is the only state in which the Republican
00:25:18.460 hung on, Pete Ricketts, who is a good guy. I know him. So we are very likely potentially looking at
00:25:26.300 a 56-seat majority for the Dems in the Senate in an election year in which the Senate map
00:25:34.480 favored the GOP. It doesn't get easier for the Republicans in 28. It actually looked like it
00:25:41.740 was going to be harder for them then. That was the year the Dems would have some real pickup 0.70
00:25:47.200 opportunities as more vulnerable seats come on the market. The Democrats may not need
00:25:55.620 to abolish the filibuster right now. They don't need to do that because they don't control the
00:26:03.420 White House. So they're not going to be pushing a lot of legislation through that has any chance 0.75
00:26:06.920 of passing. But if they run in 28 and actually have a real shot of getting the White House,
00:26:14.140 they may not need to eliminate the filibuster.
00:26:18.580 They may very well pick up another four seats
00:26:21.080 and have a filibuster-proof 60-vote majority in the U.S. Senate.
00:26:27.300 And then, my friends, all bets are off.
00:26:30.960 Even if they just keep these 56 seats and win the White House, all bets are off.
00:26:37.340 But the American electorate is sending a message.
00:26:40.060 And everybody, the Democrats and the Republicans, damn well better listen.
00:26:45.960 Joining me now are pals from Real Clear Politics.
00:26:49.100 It comes on right before this show does on Sirius XM Channel 111.

00:27:54.880 That's MK to 989898 today.
00:27:58.840 Guys, welcome back.
00:28:01.240 Carl, I'll start with you.
00:28:02.460 what do you make of my assessment of last night's results well i there was a the iran war didn't
00:28:09.120 help i think there were a lot of other issues but and and you pointed out you know donald trump
00:28:13.680 didn't give people the impression he cared about them he gave the impression that he cared about
00:28:18.800 himself and his own portfolio and his family's portfolio there was an exit poll like they're
00:28:23.320 calling them voter polls now i guess megan because they do them for people i refuse yeah people who
00:28:28.760 voted early, who said, you know, do you think Donald Trump has, you know, his priorities
00:28:35.140 or the country's?
00:28:36.600 And like two to one, his priorities.
00:28:38.980 And you think, I mean, let's take one issue because it's a minor issue.
00:28:42.140 It's a symbolic issue.
00:28:44.320 It matters to me, not to everybody.
00:28:46.060 But to me, I'll throw this out to you.
00:28:48.400 I'm curious what you think.
00:28:51.180 Who have you ever heard of in their whole life, in or out of politics, who would say,
00:28:56.400 i'm talking about the kennedy center now was you need to rename this building after me i know it's
00:29:01.620 named after a martyred president but you need to rename it after me if you don't i'll close it down
00:29:06.320 and maybe destroy it to me that and he did that on all kinds of issues around where you ever heard
00:29:12.100 of a person who does this kind of thing he he projected himself a man who would become as mad
00:29:17.280 as a hatter and i think and and you know and i'll say one thing about the oran work because you and
00:29:22.200 I don't see eye to eye on that. But I'll say one thing in not a rebuttal to what you said,
00:29:27.640 but in addition to what you said, the I think the big problem with the Iran war is that it didn't
00:29:33.960 work. And it it gave off this. You know, once a president gets the stink of incompetence about
00:29:39.940 him, that's a hard thing to shake. And it reminded people when he ran for president.
00:29:44.400 But I have to say, Carl, you're right. I agree. I'll let you finish your point. But I just say
00:29:49.140 it's it's yes i agree with what you're saying but many of us knew that would happen many of us who
00:29:58.280 ran cover for presidents launching middle east wars for 20 years over at fox news understood
00:30:04.340 they never work out we always underestimate the way fighters in that region approach war
00:30:11.040 and predicted from the beginning it's not going to go well it will be a quagmire these are not
00:30:16.780 resolvable quickly at that point. But but, you know, let's apply it to Ukraine. Those are people
00:30:21.860 who have been attacked. They're fighting for their country. When I'm talking about the competence
00:30:25.260 issue, this is a guy who spends all this time. If you don't if you don't call artificial intelligence,
00:30:31.040 super intelligence, your reporters can't cover me. He's now he's going to be the style editor
00:30:35.420 of AP. If you don't call Gulf of Mexico, Gulf of America, you're out of the pool.
00:30:41.340 Now I'm going to rename late interior. He acted like a guy whose ego had become. It was always
00:30:46.280 big but it was controlling him and he's and i think the iran war the incompetence is what i'm
00:30:52.440 talking about now the the you know they ran out of munitions and then they fired people who said
00:30:56.540 that it reminded people when he ran for president he said i will the the ukraine russia war would
00:31:02.460 never have happened if i'm president i don't know he's talking about that there's no evidence for
00:31:06.140 that but but and i will end it in one day in fact i'll end it before i even inaugurated
00:31:10.840 And I think the failures in Iraq
00:31:14.080 Reminded people
00:31:14.820 This guy has no idea what he's doing
00:31:16.720 In foreign policy
00:31:18.040 Yeah, in Iran
00:31:19.360 He sent over, you know, real estate pals
00:31:22.900 To negotiate
00:31:23.800 Who don't speak the language 1.00
00:31:25.080 And I just 0.97
00:31:26.480 What I think is that people
00:31:28.260 Certainly independent voters
00:31:31.920 Simply thought
00:31:33.100 This guy's no longer up to the job
00:31:34.520 If he ever was
00:31:35.060 I think he lost 1.00
00:31:35.980 And the Iran war may have been the trigger there 0.76
00:31:39.080 But there are other things too
00:31:40.160 These tariffs that hurt farmers, and you have this trifecta in the farm belt where he loses all those states.
00:31:47.360 This needless trolling of Canada that started before he was even inaugurated the second time.
00:31:52.320 I'm going to make them the 51st state.
00:31:54.160 He was doing it because their prime minister irritated him.
00:31:57.600 And then these tariffs all across that northern tier, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota.
00:32:03.560 These are states where people are like, what is he doing?
00:32:06.560 We don't hate Canada.
00:32:07.480 We like Canadians.
00:32:08.320 I mean, so I think it was just a systemic failure of leadership. 0.88
00:32:14.160 And Iran war is one very important, but one important point there. 0.73
00:32:20.320 Just before I give it to you, Tom, this is what the exit polls, as the person who did the exit polls for years for Fox on the air, one of my teammates just sent me video of 2006 midterm elections.
00:32:32.700 I was there with Brit anchoring, and I was doing the governor's races for Fox and talking about, in part, some of the exit polling there.
00:32:41.640 But I would do that for Fox for many years before I became an anchor.
00:32:45.860 They show the following.
00:32:47.420 Thinking about your vote for Congress, how important to you was the cost of living?
00:32:50.600 Crucial or a major factor, 89 percent, 89 percent.
00:32:54.260 I mean, virtually everyone said that the cost of living was a crucial or major factor.
00:33:00.020 The war in Iran, 74 percent.
00:33:02.960 It was the number two issue in terms of importance to voters, said it was crucial or a major factor, the war in Iran.
00:33:09.640 There's just no question these two things were huge, absolutely huge for the electorate last night.
00:33:15.940 And that's why one of the reasons why J.D. Vance is saying these are the takeaways.
00:33:19.860 We lost because of the war. 0.92
00:33:21.120 Four, what we need to do is come up with a commitment to end it, focus on the cost of living and inflation, put America first, and four, change our relationship to Israel. 0.91
00:33:32.680 I'm sorry, there's no more ignoring this issue. 0.74
00:33:34.740 The Republican Party is going to have to deal with it right in its face.
00:33:38.320 The Democrat Party has been already shifting on this front for a long time.
00:33:43.100 The Republicans have said, no, no, no, no, we're ardently pro-Israel.
00:33:47.080 We're not going to talk about the discontent around this war in Iran.
00:33:51.560 You know, Trump launched it.
00:33:52.660 We're going to back the president.
00:33:54.100 OK, then then enjoy losing.
00:33:55.840 Keep you can keep losing.
00:33:57.080 You lose the remaining seats you have.
00:34:00.320 Yeah, I think that's right.
00:34:01.660 I mean, look, this is the we have the the horseshoe populist movement that's going on now.
00:34:09.560 Right.
00:34:10.060 And we saw that with Trump and Bernie Sanders in 2015.
00:34:12.500 I think it's even more pronounced now, where voters want whatever the party is.
00:34:19.980 It doesn't even really matter.
00:34:21.000 They want their elected leaders focused on them and fixing what's going on here.
00:34:26.880 Stuff has gotten too expensive, whether it's health care, education, gas, food, whatever.
00:34:32.900 People are paying way more.
00:34:35.820 They're struggling, and there's a lot of anxiety out there.
00:34:38.240 And so when we're focused on whether it's whether it's, you know, the golf course in Washington or, you know, bombing Iran, you know, voters ended up, I think, coming to the conclusion that I mean, Trump lost a lot of folks who voted for me.
00:34:52.860 You go look at the swings from 2024 to now for the Republican Party.
00:34:57.980 They lost every single demographic.
00:34:59.680 Doesn't matter which one you looked at.
00:35:00.880 They swung to the Democrats.
00:35:03.180 In some cases, hugely.
00:35:04.660 We talked about we talked about Latinos.
00:35:05.980 that absolutely hurt particularly in texas but other places but uh republicans lost men men
00:35:14.160 in this election by three points that was a 17 point swing from 2024 they only won white voters
00:35:19.660 which was 70 percent of the electorate by four points that was a 13 point swing so and among
00:35:25.040 young voters a 32 point swing from in some states in texas it was like 50 so it's a you know talarico
00:35:32.580 won by 50 points and then you go look you mentioned the exit polls yes those were the top two issues
00:35:36.900 but uh which party do you say is better handle better able to handle the economy democrats plus
00:35:44.000 seven foreign policy democrats plus seven health care democrats plus 20 uh immigration
00:35:50.440 that was the only issue that republicans won on it was plus two 43 41 government corruption
00:35:58.460 democrats plus seven artificial intelligence democrats plus three transgender issue which
00:36:04.440 you know republicans continued to spend a lot of time on democrats plus 11 democrats plus 11 on
00:36:12.060 who's better able to handle policies about transgender people so look i think republicans
00:36:16.840 you know and trump he took his eye off the ball for the last two years and i think uh despite
00:36:22.340 the fact that he flew around the country to tell everybody how great we're the hottest economy in
00:36:26.140 the world and blah, blah, blah. People had already tuned him out and they don't believe
00:36:29.680 what he was saying to them because it wasn't reflective of what they were living on a day-to-day
00:36:32.840 basis. I was reading the Carl Cannon piece on RCP this morning and he pointed out, Andy,
00:36:40.480 I'll give this one to you, that three quarters of the electorate, I mean, three quarters said
00:36:46.940 they were either angry or dissatisfied at this administration's policies. Those are bad words
00:36:53.080 to have the electorate showing up feeling in their hearts.
00:36:56.500 And as J.D. Vance points out, a lot of them were Republicans
00:36:59.680 who pulled the lever for Democrats
00:37:02.580 for whom that would have been unthinkable
00:37:05.500 just a couple of years ago.
00:37:07.260 Angry and dissatisfied.
00:37:09.020 Yeah, I think that's bad numbers for sure.
00:37:13.340 I think when I think of that J.D. Vance ex post,
00:37:17.480 which really bears reading,
00:37:20.240 the thing that he didn't talk about was corruption,
00:37:21.960 uh which i would have put on that list as well right um and that'd be awkward that would be
00:37:26.940 awkward but that that certainly is where you know um i'm surprised that the exit polls have got it
00:37:33.840 only plus seven for the uh for the democrats on that issue because i think that's a that's a huge
00:37:39.400 problem for this administration i don't know how they fix that i don't know how vance runs away
00:37:45.660 from that that seems to be baked in the cake um so i think um the corruption issue uh hurt them a lot
00:37:53.500 more than they uh than uh than vance would would allow at this point um but you know the other
00:37:59.580 points and and and i think i think going back to what you were saying i think everything you said
00:38:04.460 makes sense to me but everything we knew that didn't we all know that the economy was number
00:38:11.420 the number one issue, and the president should be concentrating on that.
00:38:15.460 We knew that the war wasn't popular.
00:38:17.200 We talk about it every day.
00:38:19.560 All of a year, Tom.
00:38:21.040 Yeah, I mean, Tom's been obsessed with this.
00:38:23.700 Well, that's because you guys are honest.
00:38:25.720 You guys are honest. 0.83
00:38:26.880 Look, but the second thing, the Iran war, that has been the boogeyman that shall not be mentioned 0.96
00:38:33.800 almost since it was launched.
00:38:36.180 You know, the Republican audience didn't want to hear it.
00:38:41.200 They were angry. He did it. And they they were upset by it. And they kind of went into hiding over it until last night, in which case they came out and they pulled the lever for Democrats to send a message over it.
00:38:52.840 You know, it's like the president was so aggressive toward anyone who criticized the decision that I do think he scared a bunch of Republicans into being silent.
00:39:04.500 And last night they weren't. Yeah, fair enough.
00:39:08.260 I mean, there were Republican candidates out there who were moving away from the president on the war.
00:39:15.740 It didn't seem to help them.
00:39:17.320 I mean, that's the...
00:39:20.100 Too little, too late.
00:39:21.100 Too little, too late.
00:39:21.640 And I think it's...
00:39:23.400 I mean, it's hard to point to any one factor.
00:39:25.720 This was such a blowout for the Democrats.
00:39:28.840 It's kind of like the whole thing, as my mother would say.
00:39:31.900 It's your whole attitude when she's complaining about us.
00:39:35.940 And I think that's about it. 0.98
00:39:37.580 Your whole attitude was just a total blowout for the – it was what Peggy Noonan was asking for, I guess.
00:39:49.140 It definitely was a perfect storm because – and I agree with you, Megan.
00:39:54.720 I mean I think – look, the president – the die was cast the minute he started bombing Iran, right, because he demoralized the Republican base because that was one of his core promises. 0.99
00:40:06.620 It's a reason a lot of people voted for him in the first place, said only stupid people get into wars in the Middle East. 1.00
00:40:11.300 And now he's being a stupid person. And then the follow on effect from that was gas prices shot up. 1.00
00:40:16.380 Right. He just at the State of the Union, he had just been bragging about gas prices being under two dollars a gallon in Iowa.
00:40:22.700 And, you know, it was a disaster under Biden. And like four days later, he bombs Iran and then gas is like four dollars over four dollars a gallon all the way through the election.
00:40:30.480 so and and that obviously led in fed right directly into voter concerns about the you know
00:40:37.580 affordability inflation all that stuff um and his ratings suffered because of that and to your point
00:40:42.580 and this is the thing i was harping on for six months you know he never they never focused on
00:40:48.360 they did an event here or there where they got some decent press but they they never focused on
00:40:53.520 uh you know telling people look i'm i'm we are laser focused on your concerns and we're doing
00:41:00.960 everything we can every single day to try and bring them down you know biden famously i think
00:41:05.900 in in 2024 uh throughout that campaign gaslit the american people about it and trump was doing the
00:41:12.140 same thing it's things just you know we're the hottest economy in the world everyone's be like
00:41:15.980 us and it just people weren't believing it and and um they paid a significant price because of it
00:41:24.060 and now you're looking at a situation where as you said if 56 senate seats uh including you know
00:41:31.260 the south is now transformed at least for the next few years and republicans are going to look at
00:41:37.440 2028 and you know try and figure out how to get the next two years is going to be a mess for
00:41:43.080 Republicans. They're going to be fighting each other. They're going to be fighting Democrats.
00:41:47.260 They're going to be under investigation. The administration, I mean, it's just going to be an
00:41:50.620 absolute mess. Meanwhile, we were talking about this on our show. I think that the DSA's takeaway
00:41:57.680 from this is, hey, we can win anywhere. We can win in Michigan. We can win in Texas. Like,
00:42:03.340 all you centrist Democrats, go sit in the corner and shut up. You know, don't, don't. 1.00
00:42:08.120 They almost won in Florida.
00:42:09.340 Yeah, we're off and running. I mean, and we're headed toward 2028. So I think Democrats, it's going to be a rough couple of years for Republicans. I think you've got to get it sorted out or they're going to lose in 2028. And then, you know, if they have the Democrats have the presidency, the Senate and the House, I mean, it is it's Katie bar the door.
00:42:27.200 Let me play you what Governor DeSantis said on Fox News about these results.
00:42:34.020 13B. Let's just be clear about what happened last night. This is close to an extinction level event
00:42:43.140 for Republicans in many parts of the country, as we have seen probably in the last hundred years.
00:42:49.340 In January, when everyone in office leaves who were either term limited or got voted out,
00:42:56.800 Of the 10 largest states in this union, only one state will have Republican control of their state, the state of Florida.
00:43:07.900 And that does matter, Carl.
00:43:10.940 That actually does matter.
00:43:12.000 The conventional wisdom is that a governor can potentially can do things that can potentially affect the national vote in, say, a senatorial election or a House election by two to three points just based on how the voting procedures are set up, the redistricting goes like the state policies are the ones that will draw those lines.
00:43:33.360 And so it does matter absolutely that they have Democrats in the state houses in almost all those 10 states.
00:43:39.600 It sounds like Ronnie D is running for president again.
00:43:41.440 Yeah, that's what he said when he started.
00:43:44.360 When he starts, he goes, let me let me be clear.
00:43:47.320 I thought he was going to say, I'm running.
00:43:49.080 Because that was the clear message.
00:43:51.220 Yeah, he didn't have to say it.
00:43:52.580 But Megan, so here.
00:43:54.160 Yeah, he didn't have to.
00:43:54.880 What he's saying is that Donald Trump left the Republican Party a dumpster fire in all
00:44:00.340 these states, except this one state that I run. 0.52
00:44:02.640 He almost made it a dumpster fire here.
00:44:04.340 But because of me, I was able to stave off the wave.
00:44:07.920 That's what he's saying.
00:44:08.800 but and it has the virtues i think it's true so so jd vance he laid down his gauntlet uh
00:44:16.080 ron de santos has now done the same um tom doesn't like it he gets triggered when i mentioned nicky
00:44:21.500 haley but she was on tv this morning too so the field is taking shape and i i guess the the big
00:44:28.300 question is what is marco rubio going to do megan they were torturing on they were torturing me on
00:44:32.940 the show earlier today because i'm on three hours sleep and carl brought up nicky haley and gavin
00:44:37.500 Newsom in the same show, and I literally almost had a breakdown. Carl, he's got a mean streak in
00:44:43.280 him, Tom. No, but we've all been saying, right, that the presidential election begins as soon as
00:44:48.060 the midterms are over. And man, I mean, I don't think even all of us understood it. It would
00:44:51.940 literally be like the morning, the morning after. But why not? Given the Republican Party sitting
00:44:58.060 there in ashes, why wouldn't you come in, especially if you're Ron DeSantis and say,
00:45:02.540 hey, I'm a Boy Scout.
00:45:04.460 I'm squeaky clean.
00:45:05.860 I actually do have a model of winning down in Florida
00:45:08.380 that's worked out pretty well.
00:45:09.760 And the other thing he said,
00:45:11.760 this was when he gave an interview to Stephen A.
00:45:14.280 yesterday that aired,
00:45:15.980 was he hid, speaking to your point, Andrew,
00:45:18.900 on the grift, he hid on that as well.
00:45:21.860 Listen here to SOT 13C.
00:45:24.260 Unlike J.D. Vance, he is in a position to speak to it all.
00:45:27.180 When I got elected to Congress in 2012,
00:45:29.260 the first thing I did, I sold all my stocks. I've never traded a stock in elected office. Not one
00:45:36.440 time. You have some of these guys, they get to Congress. They've never shown any financial
00:45:41.280 acumen. All of a sudden, they're Warren Buffett, just timing it right. And they're making 50 grand,
00:45:46.700 60 grand here. How are we not banning the congressional stock trading? Put it in a trust,
00:45:51.580 put in a 401k, do some of those things. It's ridiculous. You look at the amount of money 0.96
00:45:57.200 of these people are making who are in the administration. Trump was criticizing Alina
00:46:02.940 Haba. She's working for DOJ and she gets a $10 million a year contract. And then the guy that 0.93
00:46:09.280 gave it to her got a presidential pardon somehow. So I think we have to be the party that's saying,
00:46:15.280 you know what? Our founding fathers believed you could have the best constitution in the world,
00:46:19.340 the Declaration of Independence, if the people in office don't display some civic virtue about
00:46:24.780 public service is a sacrifice it's not to use the public office for private gain
00:46:32.040 yeah you just gotta imagine that uh only he's on a dais with the uh with jd vance and uh
00:46:40.120 marco ruby whoever else in a in the primary debate that that's that's how he's gonna run
00:46:46.020 and i think he's definitely gonna run i think the thing to watch is who moves out of florida
00:46:50.480 DeSantis or Rubio so that they can run together? That would be the question.
00:46:56.280 Oh, yeah. Well, the problem DeSantis has, obviously, he's not the greatest retail
00:47:02.920 politician, but he's a neocon, Tom. And this is why he was backed by the most neocon faction of
00:47:11.560 the Republican Party last time around. Now, unless he comes out and moderates that,
00:47:17.100 I think his candidacy is dead in the water before it starts. He's going to have to say something
00:47:21.420 akin to what J.D. Vance said on those four points. He's going to have to, because let me tell you
00:47:26.340 something. You cannot win a national election. Never mind. You cannot win the Republican
00:47:31.760 nomination as a neocon now. I think even the most neocon-y Republicans in their heart of hearts,
00:47:37.220 while they may be rooting for a neocon, will understand that there is not the national will 0.79
00:47:43.080 to elect such a person to the presidency so i mean you're saying nikki maybe they'll do something 0.95
00:47:47.500 incredibly stupid is that what you're telling me yes get over nikki hayley you have nothing to 0.89
00:47:51.220 carl do not worry wait you know can we wait can we stick with a grip wait a minute before hold on 0.99
00:47:56.180 a second i know i just want to say one more one more thing isolationist i just want to say one
00:48:01.540 more thing about ron desantis i think ron desantis will moderate i think he will i i think it's going
00:48:07.620 to be fairly easy for him to do that and to say, look, this was a mistake that we made.
00:48:13.160 We shouldn't have done it.
00:48:14.640 I think that's going to be easy for a lot of these Republicans.
00:48:17.880 And, you know, remember when Ron DeSantis ran the first time?
00:48:20.500 I mean, I think he had the wrong theory of the case when he when he went up against President
00:48:23.520 Trump.
00:48:23.820 But, you know, remember how they used to make fun of him for like wearing cowboy boots
00:48:28.080 and he had lifts in his shoes and stuff like it's not so not so funny now.
00:48:32.960 He's been a very good governor and he's run a good state.
00:48:36.860 And now he's like the last man standing, I mean, given what happened last night and the way that this whole thing went down.
00:48:42.680 Yeah.
00:48:43.000 And the other thing is you've got to remember when we say this will never happen again, I mean, it can't happen.
00:48:47.940 Two years ago, if I had said to you that there would be socialists, senators, three of them, really, you might have said no.
00:49:00.420 So politics is weird in America right now.
00:49:02.860 I'm not sure.
00:49:03.820 It's a hard time to make predictions about the future.
00:49:05.820 What about the history of it, Carl?
00:49:06.520 I mean, you've you've covered a lot of these elections like there.
00:49:10.420 There have been big swings within a couple of years after a big change election like this.
00:49:16.080 I mean, it's happened in recent history.
00:49:18.240 This it would not be unprecedented for the Republicans to reflect, rebuild and rebrand between now and 28 and actually come back.
00:49:28.040 Stop the bleeding in the Senate, even in a year that's actually going to be tough for them.
00:49:32.900 If you look at the map and retake the White House.
00:49:35.400 I don't know about that house when having 30 seats to spare is pretty tough to overcome.
00:49:40.420 Trump lost 40 the first time in his in 2018.
00:49:43.260 So this happens, Megan, you're right.
00:49:45.640 I having said that this does feel differently, doesn't it?
00:49:48.860 This feels like, you know, because it it happened in the governor's houses and happens in places where it shouldn't have happened, like Mississippi.
00:49:55.220 But I think this graft, the corruption, the cronyism that DeSantis is talking about and that you were talking about in your opening statement, I think it may be very important, as important in foreign policy.
00:50:09.560 Rahm Emanuel was on, I think, Stephanie Rule yesterday, and he said something very interesting because he sees this on their side.
00:50:16.680 And he said that he said the Republicans are going to lose today, but it won't we whether the Democrats win or not, we won't know till 2027.
00:50:26.280 And what he said is and she said, we have to have an agenda.
00:50:29.260 And she said, what would be first?
00:50:30.380 And he said, an ethics bill.
00:50:31.900 And he sounded like he said very similar to what Ron DeSantis said.
00:50:35.100 And I thought this is what both sort of centrist people or thoughtful people in both parties think, which is the public believes that politics in the Trump era has become an insider's game where people are making obscene amounts of money and they want it stopped.
00:50:49.640 And I think that I think that that's the most important message going forward.
00:50:53.500 If they if we if we can put Iraq, if we can put Iran behind us and, you know, hopefully this won't be where it is. 0.99
00:50:59.900 Stop the war tonight and stop the grift. 0.99
00:51:02.280 Stand by. Wait, quick, quick break, commercial break. And then we'll be right back with the guys. 0.74

00:53:20.480 Back with me now, the hosts of Real Clear Politics, Tom Bevin, Carl Cannon, and Andrew
00:53:28.860 Walworth. Just a couple of numbers here. Voter trends, men, 18 to 29, so young men.
00:53:37.240 The shift from 2024 was a 38-point shift in favor of the Democrats. They voted 61% for the
00:53:49.280 Democrats last night, 37% for the Republicans. Anyway, a 38-point shift in young men toward
00:53:55.940 the Dems. All young people, 18 to 29, a 32-point shift. And here's another one from Patrick
00:54:05.620 Ruffini, pollster at Echelon Insights, and he writes the following, that Latino men shifted
00:54:12.000 57 points in favor of the Democrats. Latinos in general shifted 47 percentage points over to the
00:54:19.800 Democrats. People not making a lot of money between 50,000 and 99,000, 31 point shift.
00:54:27.280 High school or less, 31 point shift. Under 50,000, 26 point shift. No college, 18 point shift.
00:54:35.660 the uh rural or small town voters 26 point shift all in favor of democrats 18 to 29 year olds of
00:54:45.660 all genders 48 point shift i mean it's just the the numbers are just absolutely dispositive that's
00:54:53.320 what happened some of the margins that you should be aware of of the wins that the democrats amassed
00:54:59.360 in north carolina north carolina is supposed to be a red state uh the democrat won by almost 20
00:55:04.860 points, 20 percentage point, 19.6. In Georgia, again, not so long ago, this was a red state.
00:55:10.680 John Ossoff won by 18 percentage points. New Hampshire, Pappas, the first openly gay 0.65
00:55:16.240 U.S. senator, 14.3. I guess there was Kyrsten Sinema, who is ambiguous.
00:55:22.800 Texas, Cala Rico won by over 12 percentage points, 12.3, Cala Rico. In Minnesota, Flanagan,
00:55:29.920 10.1. Remember that poll came out showing her 11 points up over Tafoya? We were all like,
00:55:34.260 that's got to be bullshit. There's no way that nutcase is 11 points up over the reasonable 1.00
00:55:38.240 likables. Michelle Tafoya, wrong. It was correct. Maine, the cousin Stupor won by 7.7 percentage 1.00
00:55:45.540 points over Susan Collins. The stalwart fell. In Michigan, El Sayed won by over seven points.
00:55:52.940 So much for Haley Stevens and her last minute endorsement of Mike Rogers. It did not work out
00:55:59.180 for her. And by the way, at a time when Democrats are winning everywhere, she could have had a
00:56:03.200 resurgence. She could have had a revitalization. She could have come back and run for something 0.99
00:56:06.920 else if she just kept her mouth shut and not decided to side with Mike Rogers. Now her career
00:56:12.260 is in tatters and she's stuck with that husband who's like a disability lawyer. I hope he's making 0.94
00:56:16.800 good money. Ohio, Sherrod Brown returned to the office of U.S. Senator and he won by a margin of
00:56:22.940 4.8. Kansas, Hamilton, the pastor, won by 4.8. Kansas, haven't sent a Dem to the Senate in 100
00:56:31.100 years. South Carolina, Annie Andrews, Dr. Beat Darlene Graham by 4.4 percentage points. That's 1.00
00:56:38.040 South Carolina. I realized Darlene Graham had absolutely no qualifications, but to lose by 1.00
00:56:42.620 4.4 points in South Carolina for any Republican, especially with the last name Graham, is stunning. 0.99
00:56:47.660 Iowa, Turek won 4.1. Mississippi, tracking even, as I said at the top of the show, and Alaska,
00:56:54.260 we don't know yet either, tracking even. Wait a minute, there's one other thing. Okay, listen to
00:57:00.720 this. This is tweeted out by Bayless Wagner, reporting from Iowa. In an illustration of the
00:57:08.440 force of the blue wave that hit Iowa, Eric Armstrong, a Democrat nominee who had suspended
00:57:14.560 his campaign in September, comfortably won his race in a red-leaning statehouse district,
00:57:22.440 according to the Associated Press. Most Iowa Democrats expected to lose the district
00:57:27.240 after Armstrong said he was, quote, stepping down because personal health issues required, quote,
00:57:33.640 my full attention and care. When asked about the win, he said, I'm going to do my best to represent
00:57:40.400 the district, but I still have health issues. That's what I'm really struggling with.
00:57:47.600 They could not lose. I had given up the campaign. I'm out. They're like, in you go, Mr. Armstrong.
00:57:54.840 I mean, all of this is just it's shocking. It's too shocking to even be depressing, frankly, as somebody who would rather see the Republicans in power.
00:58:04.040 I just feel like this is great information to have. This is great. This is this was the mood in the electorate.
00:58:10.620 By the way, this is the mood in the electorate electorate two months ago. It better to know better to know and regroup.
00:58:17.620 Can I make a point before we took the break? You were talking about sort of, you know, the pendulum swings and Republicans can recover.
00:58:24.220 and you know recent history i mean the most recent history is 2008 barack obama right he
00:58:30.540 wins by seven points nationally beats john mccain 365 to 173 in the electoral college he brings in
00:58:37.040 this huge wave of of democratic lawmakers in the house and the senate and then not even a year
00:58:44.820 later or i guess a year later they democrats lose the virginia and new jersey governor's races
00:58:52.080 the following january right scott brown gets elected to fill ted kennedy's seat which was a
00:58:58.200 massive upset and then that november he was the 60th vote and then that november in 2010 you know
00:59:04.860 democrats lose 63 seats in the house and six senate seats so in a matter of 24 months they
00:59:09.680 went from this huge wave to you know getting wiped out so it absolutely i think what this proved too
00:59:17.360 is that we see ourselves as an evenly divided country, and we have been that to a certain
00:59:22.360 extent for a number of cycles. But there is some fluidity in the electorate, and you can win over
00:59:29.860 Hispanic voters, for example, young voters. They're moving around, independents. And so
00:59:35.840 if Republicans get their act together, and if Democrats go to Washington and all they do is
00:59:40.040 investigate and they don't really do anything to improve the lives of people, you could very well
00:59:45.620 see in even though their majorities are are pretty substantial you can very well see a swing back in
00:59:51.040 the republicans direction in two years along with potentially even a republican winning the white
00:59:55.940 house part of the problem i i like this and i i hope that this is possible but i have to tell you
01:00:01.900 that you know i lived that one very very closely that that barack obama win and then what happened
01:00:08.240 in 2010 and it was obamacare he he was such a prick he changed he created a new entitlement
01:00:15.460 that did not, for the first time ever, have majority support.
01:00:19.180 If you like your doctor, you can keep him.
01:00:20.400 It was the lie of the year.
01:00:21.760 But for the first time ever, he shoved an entitlement down the throats of the American people
01:00:25.120 without majority support for it, 1.00
01:00:27.300 and did it with the most arrogant, smug, fuck-off kind of attitude you'd ever seen 0.99
01:00:33.640 from a president over something as personal as your health care, 1.00
01:00:37.440 and then lied.
01:00:38.660 It became the lie of the year.
01:00:39.880 If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.
01:00:41.360 If you like your plan, you can keep your plan.
01:00:42.740 And we hosted Democrat after Democrat on my show, on Fox News, who had lost their plans and lost their doctors and couldn't find more affordable coverage and were very angry with Barack Obama.
01:00:53.180 The Tea Party was born.
01:00:54.720 People were literally spitting mad, literally spit was coming out.
01:00:57.880 They were so angry, screaming at him.
01:00:59.620 Elections have consequences, John.
01:01:01.420 As he said, when he had the senators gathered around, he was shoving Obamacare on us, a fate from which we still have not recovered.
01:01:08.180 So that was something huge he did.
01:01:10.480 you know he would defend it saying i swung for the fences that was a mandate i was given when
01:01:14.600 i was elected and so on but he paid a massive electoral price i just don't know that the
01:01:18.540 democrats can get in quite that amount of trouble between now megan don't don't but am i underestimating
01:01:24.580 if you think these parties are are incapable of humility and so if you think democrats aren't
01:01:30.780 going to go to washington after what happened last night and think that they've been given 0.99
01:01:34.080 a mandate by the american people to do all this crazy shit i you know it it just it happens 0.99
01:01:40.340 It happens to both parties. 1.00
01:01:41.500 It happens every time.
01:01:42.460 Who are the first to be called to testify?
01:01:44.240 Who are the first, like Robert Garcia, who is reportedly going to be the head of the
01:01:47.640 Oversight Committee now, tweeted out last night, lawyer up in all caps.
01:01:51.820 Give me your top three who are likely to get dragged in.
01:01:55.580 We were talking about this on our show.
01:01:57.240 I think they might do a sort of a warm up to the presidential impeachment by getting
01:02:03.440 Pete Hegseth in there and trying to impeach him.
01:02:06.180 All these cabinet members, I mean, family members. 0.62
01:02:09.280 elon musk i mean you know if they're gonna go after him ridiculous yeah i mean they're gonna
01:02:15.080 try and nationalize his companies i mean he's currently trying to cure paralysis and blindness
01:02:20.580 they want him in just he's literally making progress in curing both of those things they're
01:02:26.480 like lock him up that's yes to my point okay wait but i don't elon that's not gonna go anywhere
01:02:38.220 Because Elon is Elon. He's an odd communicator. I think he would be very difficult to pin down on anything.
01:02:46.520 One thing he tweeted out today was data centers in space are looking pretty good right now.
01:02:52.280 I think that's right. I think people will be fine with data centers.
01:02:54.960 But that was actually one of the issues on which everybody united.
01:02:57.780 I think there were 40. What was the number? It was in my packet. 40 data center, like 41 ballot issues put out there for voters to vote on last night. Like, are you in favor of ballot centers coming to your city? And in every single way we have results in for like 30 of them so far.
01:03:20.200 And in 29 out of the 30, the answer was, no, I do not want an AI data center in my town.
01:03:27.100 I mean, left and right, they all united.
01:03:29.480 They don't want it.
01:03:30.240 It was yet another thing.
01:03:31.540 Trump got behind.
01:03:32.920 AI is great.
01:03:33.920 You have to love it.
01:03:34.820 To your point, Carl, you have to call it super intelligence, which makes no sense because
01:03:38.640 that's already a term that is applied to AI once it goes on steroids and has independent
01:03:43.180 thinking.
01:03:44.220 So it's like how the people in the trans world tried to co-opt the word they. 0.98
01:03:49.040 That already has a meaning. It means multiple people. You cannot borrow it and use it for your new gender. Anyway, they are against it. So this is a long meandering. I'm doing the weave. We were talking about Elon Musk. Pete Hegseth, Elon Musk, Kristi Noem for sure is going to get it.
01:04:04.760 I don't think a lot of people are going to cry to see Christie and Corey Lewandowski dragged in there. 0.99
01:04:08.140 I think Alina Habba's got to go to talk about her $50 million bribe. 1.00
01:04:12.420 Oh, I mean, salary that she legitimately is earning as general counsel to some company that appears to have been a pop up as of Monday, 1.00
01:04:21.580 but now suddenly needs a $10 million general counsel so that their Venezuelan leader can get a pardon from Donald Trump.
01:04:29.100 Of course, the Trump children, Jared Kushner.
01:04:31.500 Of course.
01:04:31.940 You guys add to my list.
01:04:33.000 who else is going to get dragged in there? Well, I think they're going to do hearings on whether
01:04:36.880 this administration was selling pardons. And Trump himself seemed surprised by the Lena
01:04:43.040 Hoppe revelation. And he seemed offended by it. So maybe he doesn't know about it. But somebody
01:04:47.900 knows about it, because there's like this little industry that's cropped up. So my guess is that's
01:04:53.120 one of the first things they'll go after, because that's a bipartisan thing that always
01:04:57.340 polls poorly uh usually it's governors but selling pardons you can go to prison for it so
01:05:03.040 that might be where they start yeah but he will pardon everyone his family and his administration
01:05:09.080 why not the people who sold pardons well yeah no i mean i don't think he's gonna pardon alina
01:05:14.260 her well he may not pardon her but he'll pardon his family and he'll pardon uh his uh immediate
01:05:20.740 cabinet right i mean why wouldn't musk you know well you know what's i mean he's not the first
01:05:26.880 to have done that so you're a lawyer what what this this venezuelan guy that the original charge
01:05:31.960 brought by the public integrity section that trump dismantled um was that he had paid he bribed a
01:05:39.140 governor in puerto rico so they they busted he pled guilty to a misdemeanor then the guy thought
01:05:46.700 well i didn't even want that misdemeanor so to prove that i don't bribe public officials i'm
01:05:51.520 going to pay for a pardon? It seemed it was sort of a self-goal. Yeah, if what they're alleging is
01:06:01.520 true, it was too cute by half, right? Because he's like, I'm not paying for a pardon. I just
01:06:07.200 think this Alina Haba, who's literally accomplished nothing other than representing Trump in that one
01:06:11.820 case that she lost on his business by Tish James to ruin his company. I'm just going to pay her 0.99
01:06:20.100 $10 million a year in salary to be the general counsel of some new company that my daughter's 1.00
01:06:26.860 going to be running. And she'll get enough bonuses that in four years, she will get $50 0.99
01:06:32.840 million. I practiced law for 10 years at the very highest levels in this country.
01:06:37.780 There isn't a firm in America, and I'm talking about the best firms, the absolute best,
01:06:42.940 that pays its lawyers $10 million a year with the experience packet that Alina Haba has.
01:06:51.000 If you are the biggest rainmaker, like you brought in all the big clients,
01:06:54.400 you might get something like that at a big firm.
01:06:57.320 After years of experience, you'd have plenty of gray hairs or none on your head.
01:07:01.580 You would not be Alina Haba. 0.86
01:07:03.700 It was obviously a payoff. 0.86
01:07:05.820 That's my opinion.
01:07:07.860 And I don't blame him for being angry with her.
01:07:11.320 People are like, oh, he's mad because he wanted a piece because he said it should be donated to my presidential library.
01:07:16.220 I actually don't think that's true.
01:07:17.600 I think Trump was genuinely angry that she pulled a fast one on him by by getting all this all these riches.
01:07:26.140 And then she probably quietly convinced him to give this guy a pardon on the merits without disclosing that she was getting her pocket lined.
01:07:35.080 That's my guess. We'll find out.
01:07:36.600 I actually am looking forward to seeing her go before Congress and be questioned about this. 1.00
01:07:40.260 I think my old pal Kimberly Guilfoyle might get dragged in there. 0.94
01:07:43.160 Yeah, that's another thing I was going to say.
01:07:44.120 That was the next one.
01:07:45.480 It's a target-rich environment, but Kimberly Guilfoyle has got to be at the top of anyone's list, right?
01:07:50.800 That one, I feel like, eh, I'm on the Tim Dillon team on that.
01:07:55.180 Like, what did you expect was going to happen?
01:07:58.120 Like, come on.
01:08:00.100 Like, did you really think she was going to be, as Tim put it, studying the history of Athens?
01:08:06.340 Could you just relax?
01:08:10.260 um christy noem sent out a tweet did you guys see she sent out a tweet saying something like
01:08:14.340 i agree with larry kudlow we did we were too good on on immigration in trump's first year
01:08:20.240 something to that effect we you know we were just too perfect in our d i mean so that there's been a
01:08:25.740 lot around her and cory lewandowski suggesting that there may be ethical problems with those
01:08:30.760 two and i don't just mean they're weird obvious affair i mean like possible like unethical
01:08:36.440 behavior as the two of them were running DHS. So that's another thing that's target rich. Go
01:08:41.140 ahead. I was just going to say, that was another data point. I mentioned the Republicans won on
01:08:45.520 immigration was the only issue on which they were favored over Democrats, but it was only by three
01:08:49.600 points. But there was also a question asked about, do you approve or disapprove of how ICE
01:08:53.980 has handled itself? And it was 60, 40 against. So, you know, again, it's another example of where
01:08:59.540 policy-wise, Republicans were winning on immigration. It was the execution
01:09:05.180 under Kristi Noem. Not the right word, Tom. What? Sorry. Yeah. Because they kept killing people.
01:09:14.360 Yeah. The way that they handled it with her ads and all that stuff, Ice Barbie and the pictures
01:09:21.580 of her. I mean, it was just ridiculous. And turned public opinion against the administration on an 0.57
01:09:27.900 issue that they had broad public support for you know you know megan um i will say in defense of
01:09:35.200 christy noem uh and the glam and the photo ops and all that i have it on reliable authority
01:09:40.680 that president trump asked her to do that that he wanted those photo ops he wanted her out there
01:09:47.080 he wanted her to be like the face of it so i mean if she does get subpoenaed and called in there
01:09:52.040 she'll say that on the stand. Yeah, we'll hear. Yeah. That won't help. Well, we'll see.
01:09:56.600 Then that's another example of Trump, you know, taking and taking an issue on which he has
01:10:01.920 majority support and and, you know, fumbling it. You know, this this ice issue, though,
01:10:08.380 it was huge up in Minnesota. It probably Michelle Tafor probably know anything she could. She ran
01:10:13.640 a great campaign, but that issue. She did. And she's so likable. Yeah, I agree with that. We 1.00
01:10:19.740 had her on our show we all liked her a lot she's she was she had a message it would have been a
01:10:23.920 winning message in almost any other year and she ran against a very far left candidate as you know
01:10:29.240 one who was tainted by scandal but that issue when those two people were up there were killed and i
01:10:34.300 you know megan i don't want to relitigate it we could i don't say the ice people deliberately did
01:10:40.340 anything went out to kill these people but yeah these two people and the twin cities were just
01:10:45.220 completely galvanized by it but there were other cases that didn't get as much attention in
01:10:49.540 Washington, but in Texas did. There was a guy there who was killed on his way to work. We've
01:10:55.700 never gotten the full story. Homeland Security's never released any kind of investigation. They
01:11:01.140 had a warrant. They think it was for somebody else. They pinned him in a van, shot him through
01:11:05.280 his van. This got huge coverage in South Texas. And it's one of the reasons, clearly, that this
01:11:10.800 vote changed down there. And there were interviews that we didn't see in Washington or in New York
01:11:15.820 where people on local television there, when ICE would come get somebody and there'd be a woman
01:11:19.720 came out and say, they came and got my brother. He was on his way to work. We've been here 30
01:11:23.760 years. He has two kids in the army and they just grabbed him and deported him to Mexico. And he
01:11:29.380 hasn't lived in Mexico since he was 13 years old. I mean, these kind of horror stories.
01:11:35.640 And people began to think, even who Trump had said when he was asked, who are you going to
01:11:39.740 everybody but people really thought he would go after for two classes first one criminals people
01:11:46.520 with criminal records or who who had criminal records before or committed crimes here and two
01:11:51.720 the worst first right or the people who'd come in during the biden demonstration the 10 million
01:11:57.000 people were told you know here's your piece of paper come you know on august 33rd 2000 you know
01:12:02.520 38 and you get a hearing but they were going after people who'd been in this country who'd
01:12:08.420 started business, who were going to churches. And maybe they should have been here, maybe
01:12:12.440 illegally. But this really hurt Trump. Well, and the other piece of that story, Carl, is the media.
01:12:20.440 The media played it up. You remember they put that little boy with the bunny or whatever his
01:12:24.840 little lovey was on the air out of Minnesota. And it turned out, you know, his dad had left him
01:12:30.280 behind. His dad made a run for it when he saw ICE was trying to arrest the dad. But they put him on.
01:12:35.060 And it was like and then the dad said, I'll take him with me.
01:12:37.700 And they were like, they deported the sweet boy.
01:12:39.800 It was like what the dad said that the mother wouldn't answer the door like the ice was
01:12:43.740 left in this.
01:12:44.240 But like, of course, the media, of course, is always trying to help the Dems.
01:12:48.120 I want to tell you this, as I mentioned, Trump, like talk about Trump, coverage of
01:12:57.080 Trump, et cetera, has become toxic in the last year.
01:12:59.600 I watch conservative media very closely.
01:13:01.720 And if you watched Fox News, they, too, started covering him less and less and less.
01:13:08.500 His name got mentioned far less frequently than it ever had before, ever since that Iran war launched.
01:13:14.660 And what's happened this morning?
01:13:16.640 Just now, Trump was speaking.
01:13:19.500 He was going on and on and on.
01:13:24.320 And, well, I'll play you what he was saying in one second.
01:13:28.120 but only Fox News took the speech. Not a single cable network took the president's remarks and
01:13:35.000 even Fox cut away. And no one is taking the remarks now. Here's just a bit of what we heard
01:13:42.140 him say. I think it's largely true because it drove the gasoline up a little bit short term.
01:13:49.000 And probably that's probably it's true. But at the same time, if I had it to do again,
01:13:53.860 have to do it again because long term uh it's the only answer you can't let iran have a nuclear
01:14:00.420 i do yeah i mean well you have no choice i mean i thought the oil would go up a lot more and i
01:14:05.140 did it on that basis you have no choice you have to do it you can't let iran have a nuclear weapon
01:14:10.020 or everything that you see here someday might not exist and uh maybe this but this building might
01:14:17.300 be the only one that does so yeah i i think that uh look i mean i'll get along probably
01:14:23.540 with the Democrats unless they want to be destructive, but they have the power of the
01:14:27.440 veto. So if we don't like what they're doing or they'll, they've already called and they want to
01:14:31.740 talk about things and that's fine. But yeah, people, the Iran thing we had to do and we
01:14:38.260 continue to do it. Uh, we have tremendous oil flowing out of the hormones straight now. 0.80
01:14:43.720 Okay. That was the substantive piece of it. Every other piece of it was all about the ballroom,
01:14:47.680 The ballroom, the ballroom, the ballroom and more ballroom, which is why nobody took it and Fox left it.
01:14:54.820 And that was the one substantive piece where he was asked about J.D. Vance's post and said, quote, I think it's largely true about Iran, but said he wouldn't change anything.
01:15:05.260 But this is the problem.
01:15:06.860 I mean, this is actually going to be a problem for Trump from this point forward, because all of our attention is going to be on other people.
01:15:14.800 Andrew, Trump's worst nightmare.
01:15:16.720 yeah he can't stand that that that he can't stand more than anything but it's it's going to start as
01:15:22.020 of today hey i want to give uh if i can just a quick shout out to uh sean trendy who's our
01:15:27.860 um senior elections advisor he's got a great uh substack it's called pole vault which people
01:15:33.320 should check this is just a little cautionary note from his uh his his uh pole vault today he says
01:15:39.860 voters for better for worse have goldfish memories and this election provides relatively little news
01:15:46.140 about what 2028 will look like the election is over but elections aren't i thought that was sort
01:15:52.940 of interesting uh just cautionary notice we sit here and talk about what this all means and stuff
01:15:58.060 a lot of things can change and he points to past elections he points to i guess 74 and 76 uh as two
01:16:04.940 elections uh that sort of proved that point um to him at least anyway um but yeah i think uh it's
01:16:11.660 going to be interesting to see whether trump can change at all uh and can he work with democrats
01:16:18.620 i mean can he do what you know what bill clinton and newt gingrich did um in 94 96 which sort of
01:16:26.460 an interesting uh parallel uh but i gotta say i don't think it's possible i don't think that trump
01:16:32.700 at this point can change at all i think this is what we're going to see for the next two years
01:16:36.860 and i think um he's a lame duck he's got the veto um and uh we'll see the one the one thing
01:16:44.460 that will be interesting is you know presidents are in charge of foreign policy um and presidents
01:16:49.260 in the past when they've sort of faced this kind of thing they they go overseas they work overseas
01:16:53.660 so he may be going to north korea soon something like that i mean watch for something he may drive
01:16:59.340 he may drive megan really crazy and start another war somewhere else yeah yeah that would drive me
01:17:05.980 crazy our military should be used defensively um okay but here's a question for you yeah i was
01:17:13.980 just gonna say you know iran is the longer it stays unresolved the more of a problem it's going
01:17:21.140 to be for republicans and for 2028 as i said i mean if if we're still dealing with iran in
01:17:28.120 you know this time next year when right before the primaries are about to start in january of
01:17:33.840 2028. I mean, how's that going to look for Republicans, you know, for J.D. Vance or Marco
01:17:39.980 Rubio and whoever else is on that stage when they're talking about it? I mean, it's going to
01:17:44.220 be a disaster. So Trump has to I think he has to try and wrap this up as as soon as possible and
01:17:50.180 get things back to back to normal. But that's the nightmare that we're in, Tom, because I agree.
01:17:55.920 I will say in defense of Trump, he has tried he he does want to wrap it up. He's not an electoral
01:18:02.140 old dummy. He saw this coming. He knew it would hurt Republicans at the polls. He didn't want 0.91
01:18:07.920 that. But these are tough MFers over there. They're not reasonable people. They don't respond
01:18:15.620 to the same incentives or threats. And so that's what's scary to people like me who didn't want
01:18:22.100 this to start to begin with and we didn't want it to go on. Now there are a lot of people advising
01:18:28.820 trump the only way to end it is to escalate it which is like extremely dangerous go ahead i was
01:18:33.960 just gonna do my joe biden and say he should have known that in the first place
01:18:37.440 right shouldn't even know all that stuff in the first place yes or he or he could listen to
01:18:47.080 hayley stevens they're gonna start get to us like beware beware this is why you don't start these 0.96
01:18:54.760 But anyway, back to back to the candidate issues. I do want to ask you this. Darlene Graham. Now, this was this was unnecessary. Do we agree what like South Carolina was winnable? I don't know about Texas, given, you know, given that it was a 12 and a half point win by Tallarico.
01:19:17.500 I don't I think he probably would have beaten Cornyn, too. But South Carolina, guys, that that was unnecessary.
01:19:24.280 And I do wonder whether there will be any sort of reflection by, you know, President Trump for that.
01:19:30.300 I'm trying to look. There is. Stand by. There was a Matt Walsh tweet on this that I really thought was spot on.
01:19:37.760 This is what he wrote. South Carolina flipped to the Dems because Trump endorsed a Republican candidate who had no qualifications,
01:19:44.600 no experience, no political skills, no resume at all, and whose only pitch to the voters was, 0.72
01:19:49.600 I'm the sister of Lindsey Graham. Just a staggeringly idiotic strategy that failed 1.00
01:19:54.160 exactly as any reasonable person knew that it would. I think that's exactly right in the case 0.99
01:20:00.940 of Darlene Graham. And I do think the president does bear some responsibility directly in terms
01:20:06.140 of candidate selection, whether it was Darlene Graham, Michael Watley, who got his ass kicked, 0.98
01:20:11.620 the head of the RNC. I don't think he really picked Paxton. Paxton seems to have been a 0.95
01:20:18.260 base pick that Trump kind of at the last minute was like, OK, fine, I endorse him.
01:20:24.280 But certainly quality of candidates played some role last night. Am I wrong?
01:20:29.940 Well, Andy has been saying this all along. And this shellacking was so thorough,
01:20:35.280 we think that was less of a factor this morning than we thought before. But Megan,
01:20:40.160 take texas for example yeah paxton won i think he won that primary by 28 points over corner
01:20:44.720 and and trump endorsed him only after it was pretty clear he was going to win but what what
01:20:50.420 a president like lbj would have done or somebody was running the party i mean and you don't have
01:20:54.360 to be that heavy-handed a normal president would have called paxton early in the game and said no
01:21:00.180 you can't run and thrown his support publicly to cornyn and and dissuaded paxton from even trying
01:21:05.580 it and and that's that's the kind of thing but but trump was last was who was he saying that to tom
01:21:11.720 was it the new york times or brett bear so yeah he said it's brett bear on fox yeah last night i had
01:21:16.140 no choice um cornyn didn't do everything i want him to do i had no choice that's a phrase he is
01:21:20.880 he he's a prisoner of his own ego and and what what a real leader has to do is subliminate his
01:21:26.860 ego sometimes and say okay cornyn's pissed me off a couple times but he's our best chance and and
01:21:32.960 And Paxton shouldn't have even been allowed to run, is what I'm saying.
01:21:35.800 And Trump could have stopped.
01:21:36.800 We actually have that, Carl.
01:21:38.320 We have that.
01:21:38.840 Let's listen to Trump last night talking to Fox about John Cornyn, SOT 13.
01:21:44.000 And I just wasn't a fan of Cornyn.
01:21:46.040 You know, I just wasn't a fan.
01:21:47.760 I found him to be a disloyal guy.
01:21:50.440 He was not a fan of mine when, you know, to be honest, when it wasn't fashionable, he wasn't there.
01:21:57.540 And I could say that about a lot of people, could say that about you.
01:22:00.920 uh when it wasn't fashionable to be with trump he wasn't there when it was fashionable he kissed 0.98
01:22:07.240 my ass all right but uh you know i remember the i remember the other days and i just felt i 0.98
01:22:13.760 couldn't endorse him 0.99
01:22:14.580 brett took a stray there 0.91
01:22:19.020 typical you know the thing about darlene graham yeah but point taken about darlene graham because
01:22:27.400 i was right like i i was i thought she was a terrible candidate and i said that on the show
01:22:33.660 a number of times and we talked about candidate quality just a different way to look at it is i
01:22:38.600 mean if you look at how bad they lost in texas and how you know she lost by what six points five
01:22:43.240 points in South Carolina. Maybe she overperformed other Republicans. I mean, maybe she wasn't such 0.69
01:22:49.600 a terrible candidate. Maybe she did better than a lot of other candidates did. I don't think South 1.00
01:22:55.640 Carolina took the incoming that Texas did post-COVID. I think the electorate is changing in
01:23:00.340 Texas. And South Carolina was an 18-point Trump win, not a 13-point Trump win. So she had a five-point
01:23:05.020 cushion that she couldn't overcome. The other thing about it, though, Megan, is that...
01:23:08.040 And I'm trying to give a little grace here. No one's allowing me.
01:23:11.100 not having it now grace the other problem with this and again this goes back to trump is is by
01:23:15.940 doing that and by putting his thumb on the scale for graham the way he did he pissed off ralph
01:23:21.680 norman and ralph norman up until the very end of this campaign was telling people to vote their
01:23:26.020 conscience he wasn't helping her in any way so he divided the republican party in an already
01:23:31.380 shitty republican you know environment for republicans i mean he just did everything he
01:23:35.680 could to cause them to lose that race. And he's got the blame lays squarely with him and no one
01:23:42.980 else. There's never a good time for a major home repair to hit you out of nowhere. Emergency home

01:27:11.320 Can we talk about Mississippi?
01:27:13.540 Because there, the incumbent is Cindy Hyde-Smith, who I have to say is not that impressive. 0.96
01:27:20.420 and she was running against somebody who got no help from the national democratic party because
01:27:27.220 they didn't think he had any chance whatsoever uh his name is scott colomb he's a black man
01:27:33.320 cindy hyde smith is a white woman for what it's worth and they are currently 65 votes apart
01:27:41.960 65 with the Democrat in the lead, but they're counting provisional ballots. Again, 0.83
01:27:51.240 the speculation is that those should be better for him. So this guy really might pull this out.
01:27:56.560 So Cindy Hyde-Smith, I'd heard this just before the election. She stepped in it at one of their 0.78
01:28:05.780 debates when they were talking about the price of meat. And she said, pick another protein.
01:28:11.960 And he turned that into a very effective political ad against her here in SOT 8.
01:28:19.860 Watch this. 0.83
01:28:20.940 The price of beef continuing to go up.
01:28:23.360 You know, you have so many proteins to choose from.
01:28:26.000 Pick another protein? 1.00
01:28:27.120 Shit, I'd rather pick another senator instead. 1.00
01:28:31.240 Pick another protein? 1.00
01:28:33.400 She done lost her damn mind. 1.00
01:28:35.800 I'd rather pick another senator. 1.00
01:28:38.460 Pick another protein? 0.93
01:28:40.460 What the?
01:28:41.960 There he was at the end.
01:28:47.420 So good, right?
01:28:48.260 I mean, it's very, very...
01:28:51.260 No AI in that ad, too, should I add?
01:28:55.460 No, it's a low-budget thing because he didn't have much money.
01:28:59.420 Do you think maybe that...
01:29:00.880 You were talking about Trump's role in Paxson.
01:29:04.360 What did they spend in Texas?
01:29:05.480 $250 million?
01:29:06.840 Maybe they could have spent like $3 million of it
01:29:09.360 helping their Republican senator in Mississippi.
01:29:11.960 I bet they wish they'd had done that.
01:29:14.540 And I think that if I'm not, I could be wrong about this, Megan, but I think Scott Cullum
01:29:18.640 was up for a judgeship and she blocked it.
01:29:22.120 And I think they decided to run for the Senate.
01:29:25.580 That sounds right.
01:29:26.860 I remember reading that.
01:29:28.340 Wait now, and look at this.
01:29:29.580 But so he got on line at a Trump rally, Scott Cullum did.
01:29:35.440 And he decided to go talk to Trump supporters about the issues that were important to them.
01:29:42.640 And this guy, I'm this guy is a threat on the national level because he's got retail skills coming out of his ears.
01:29:49.600 Look how natural and at ease he is talking with Trump supporters in Mississippi here in SOT7.
01:29:58.860 How are you doing, sir? Can I introduce myself?
01:30:01.200 Bill Cowher.
01:30:01.740 I'm Scott Colon, Bill. Good to meet you.
01:30:03.160 Thank you for your service.
01:30:03.760 Thank you.
01:30:04.260 absolutely what matters to you as a veteran right now second amendment right second member i'm big
01:30:09.460 on that kind of if you own the ai from mississippi to indiana indiana from indiana let me ask you
01:30:16.100 what matters to y'all as voters what are your top issues for me gas prices yes how do you feel about
01:30:20.180 the war in iran get out of it get out of it pull out we don't need to be there it's not our problem
01:30:25.780 let me ask you what do you think about the tariffs are you a fan or not not really not really
01:30:29.860 how do you feel about slot cameras i'm not a fan of them because i worry about privacy
01:30:33.700 what's your top issues uh mostly just uh prices of everything yeah yeah yeah that's what i'm
01:30:43.540 running on yeah absolutely have you taken any money from ap absolutely not you might be asking
01:30:49.060 what matters to you as a voter right now um honestly well honesty honesty impressive
01:30:56.740 I'm going to tell my man Gavin about this guy.
01:30:58.440 He's going to need a running mate.
01:31:01.180 I don't know.
01:31:01.900 It seemed to me like he was identifying with a lot of the problems,
01:31:05.000 but he wasn't saying what he was going to do about them.
01:31:06.920 So that's –
01:31:07.780 Well, that's what politicians do.
01:31:09.760 I know.
01:31:10.000 I mean, it's a good ad, but, you know, I don't know.
01:31:13.760 The ad was good.
01:31:14.600 Look, he's a happy warrior.
01:31:16.540 That's how you – in an environment where there's a lot of anger,
01:31:20.860 he managed to channel that.
01:31:22.180 I will add, Megan, just for posterity, in that race, the independent candidate, Ty Pinkins, has 20,000 votes.
01:31:33.200 The Ralph Hader of Mississippi.
01:31:35.580 Yeah, exactly.
01:31:36.860 Yeah.
01:31:37.540 Spoiler alert.
01:31:38.540 Spoiler.
01:31:39.040 Here's what happened just this morning.
01:31:41.720 Somebody, I think this was this morning, as opposed to last night.
01:31:44.660 I'm not sure, but whatever.
01:31:45.520 It's recent.
01:31:45.960 But he, Scott Colombe, was talking to his supporters, probably telling them, you know, stay tuned and watch what happened.
01:31:56.480 Scott, Senator Hines-Smith all but declared victory last night.
01:32:00.460 I want to get you.
01:32:03.600 Nice try.
01:32:09.100 Give him grace, Lord.
01:32:12.860 Bless our heart.
01:32:15.960 i mean this is good guys so look on the list of like this is an interesting question i think
01:32:25.280 on the list of senators who are newly elected to the u.s congress to the u.s senate
01:32:31.000 as democrats the one who you can't stand the most and the one that you are most optimistic about i'm
01:32:40.380 going to put him as my most optimistic. He hasn't officially won. But if he wins, I'm happy with
01:32:45.920 this guy. I like him. He seems I don't know what his policies are. Maybe I'll reverse myself because
01:32:50.580 he wants to pack the Supreme Court. But so far, I like him, which is not a surprise because he's
01:32:55.340 coming out of Mississippi. So this guy's got to keep it real. He can't go too far, you know, to
01:32:59.700 the left. The ones that concern me the most, I am concerned about El Sayed for sure. He does strike
01:33:06.480 me as very angry as like, he's got an angry streak in him and like really smug. I'm not really worried
01:33:14.160 about the Muslim Brotherhood stuff, but I, I, he does seem radical to me and I don't, I'm not sure
01:33:20.120 where that guy's going to go with it, but I would say Penny, Peggy Flanagan is probably my least
01:33:25.640 favorite newly elected Senator. The nutcase with the, when your six-year-old tells you that they're 1.00
01:33:31.780 trans, believe them. She's a fruitcake or a nutcake, whichever one is crazier. That's what 1.00
01:33:37.780 she is. So that's where I am on the newly elected. Would you guys like to take that on this question?
01:33:43.340 Well, I'll give one positive one. I thought that.
01:33:47.400 I know what's coming. I know what's coming.
01:33:49.480 I thought that performance by Abdul El-Sayed, that nasty victory speech. So Michigan has a sore
01:33:57.100 loser in the primary Haley Stevens 1.00
01:33:59.660 not as a sore winner the poor 0.98
01:34:01.700 sport winner so he's been
01:34:03.260 you're right yeah he's my least favorite
01:34:05.480 the guy I'm interested
01:34:07.660 in is obviously
01:34:09.080 call him but we don't know if he's going to win so how about
01:34:11.480 Josh Turek when he was campaigning
01:34:13.620 he
01:34:14.380 he's in a wheelchair he hauled himself up
01:34:17.640 some stairs to some house
01:34:19.460 by his arms dragging his wheelchair
01:34:21.780 behind him to knock on a door and I thought alright
01:34:23.620 that's the kind of commitment in a public servant
01:34:25.720 I have to respect
01:34:26.740 i i thought carl for sure was going to say adam hamilton in kansas i mean he's a guy who
01:34:33.460 you know i've been talking about him i thought you guys were sick of me talking about him so
01:34:38.240 well yeah we are actually but so you know pastor independent runs as a democrat says he's not going
01:34:44.100 to vote for chuck schumer so you know he also has to keep it real and we'll see how independent he
01:34:49.660 is when he gets to the senate so he's he's a guy who i'm interested in watching you know hopefully
01:34:54.580 in a positive way i agree with carl else i had speech last night where he was like oh we hope
01:34:58.840 the michigan never sees the likes of mike rogers again and then he took a shot at jd and then he
01:35:03.840 took a shot at trump and then he you know took another shot at apac i mean the guy he does he
01:35:09.400 he he is he was smug during the campaign and you can only imagine how much more smug he's going to
01:35:14.980 be now that he's got six years in the senate tom thinks he's going to be even more insufferable
01:35:19.420 I do, actually, but I think I agree with Tom.
01:35:23.220 Let's play a little bit of that.
01:35:24.160 We have it in stop one.
01:35:25.700 My name is Abdurrahman Mohamed Sayyid.
01:35:32.640 And I am so proud and honored to stand here as your senator-elect from the great state
01:35:42.860 of Michigan.
01:35:45.740 So, Mike, enjoy your retirement.
01:35:49.420 I know you got a house in Florida and two yachts.
01:35:56.420 See, you chose hate and Michigan chose hope.
01:36:03.420 May we never have to see the likes of you in this state again.
01:36:09.420 To the super PACs and special interests who tried to beat us,
01:36:12.420 we are coming for your system of politics.
01:36:16.420 who spent 42 million dollars against us thank you for giving me the opportunity to beat you twice
01:36:22.280 we can defeat the cynicism of a politics that preys on our earnestness
01:36:29.480 undersells our intelligence and exploits our disagreements tonight michigan we beat a machine
01:36:35.940 that last part was good and the the rest of it was so ungracious
01:36:43.040 You know, the unwritten rule in politics is no matter how ugly the campaign, and we've seen some ugly ones, you still get up there at the end and you show grace and you're magnanimous.
01:36:54.080 Go ahead, Tom.
01:36:54.260 I said on our show, you know, he didn't – he should have taken the high road, but he wasn't tall enough to find it, you know.
01:37:01.960 He's a short joke, Ben.
01:37:05.140 He is short.
01:37:05.920 Which is funny coming from me because I'm 5'9", but I think he's about six inches shorter than I am, so I can make short jokes.
01:37:11.880 Five-nine is the height of the average American man.
01:37:13.800 That's right. 1.00
01:37:14.440 So you're good.
01:37:14.920 You're average.
01:37:15.100 I'm perfectly average.
01:37:16.600 Well, as long as we're talking about our people
01:37:19.680 who you're not looking forward to.
01:37:22.100 Troy Jackson, I will say,
01:37:23.440 I'm not looking forward to at all.
01:37:25.040 Oh.
01:37:25.880 Let's hope he can control his gas issues
01:37:28.220 when he makes it to the Senate.
01:37:29.500 I just don't want to listen to that for six years.
01:37:34.660 And I'm interested what happens with Calarico.
01:37:36.400 Do I want to see his cousin who he's schtipping?
01:37:39.120 Yeah. 1.00
01:37:39.320 I don't want to see the cousin wife, whatever she is. 1.00
01:37:42.360 Why are all the Democrats marrying their family members? 1.00
01:37:45.080 Second cousin. 0.61
01:37:45.660 Come on.
01:37:46.980 But, you know, we talk about keeping it real.
01:37:48.720 I wonder about Tallarico in Texas, whether he will track to the center at all,
01:37:53.300 given the essential redness of that state, which still exists.
01:37:58.420 So I'm sort of interested in what he does.
01:38:00.200 I think he's a smart guy.
01:38:01.560 I think he ran a pretty smart campaign, obviously, and won by a lot.
01:38:06.400 So will he over-interpret the mandate given his margin of victory down there?
01:38:14.400 That will be interesting to see, something I'll be watching.
01:38:16.840 But, you know, like I say, I think he's a smart guy.
01:38:20.540 We'll be interested to see what he does.
01:38:22.500 The early signs are good, Andy.
01:38:23.860 Here's one more.
01:38:25.080 I'm sorry, go ahead, Andy.
01:38:25.700 The early signs, Carl, it's been like six hours.
01:38:28.140 That's what I'm talking about.
01:38:28.860 No, in terms of, he was, Tom.
01:38:32.720 He's got like 16 years of like radical leftist belief.
01:38:35.680 that he walked away from during the general election. 0.50
01:38:38.380 He was the un-Abdul el-Sayed.
01:38:40.700 He was gracious.
01:38:41.620 That's all we have to go on.
01:38:42.420 He was gracious.
01:38:42.900 So fair enough.
01:38:43.280 He only won yesterday.
01:38:44.080 I'm just saying the early signs.
01:38:45.380 I meant early.
01:38:46.840 Last night on our broadcast, Glenn Greenwald was recounting that Piers Morgan asked Glenn
01:38:52.180 about Tallarico, is Texas really going to elect a gay vegan as its senator?
01:38:59.100 Glenn was pointing out he's actually not gay, which we all challenged Glenn on. 0.85
01:39:04.180 and um not a vegan same challenge glenn is gay and i said glenn are you getting any gaydar at
01:39:11.300 all on on talarico he does not think he's gay but i i say the jury is still out um i wanted to play
01:39:18.120 one more abdul sot here sot three jd
01:39:22.680 there is this delicious irony in the fact that you're constitutionally obligated to
01:39:36.100 swear me in in january
01:39:37.280 so you know what that means wolverine one buckeye zero
01:39:49.720 this is so obnoxious you know what jd vince will do it he'll do it with class he'll be super kind
01:39:58.440 he'll be welcoming he'll smile at you he'll he'll welcome your family that's how it's done what a 0.97
01:40:03.900 prick he just seems like a prick to me i think it's good news for the sort of bro candidates 0.99
01:40:08.600 out there though that uh you can be this much of a prick and and win by seven points i mean 0.97
01:40:13.780 Andy, really grasping at straws on the good news. 0.92
01:40:17.320 Yeah, Andy's the eternal optimist.
01:40:20.500 Finds the silver lining everywhere.
01:40:22.460 That's good news for the...
01:40:23.420 Great news for pricks.
01:40:24.300 That's right. 1.00

01:40:35.080 Watch. 0.99
01:40:36.500 Hate can't teach a child to read.
01:40:39.940 Hate can't build a future.
01:40:42.000 But what hate can't do, love can. Love can turn a campaign into a movement. Love, love can heal
01:40:55.080 what's broken in America. In my experience, when you extend an open hand rather than a closed fist,
01:41:04.200 you'll be surprised by who takes that hand. Embodied a new kind of politics, a politics
01:41:10.340 rooted in a deep love for our state for our country and most importantly for all of our neighbors
01:41:18.260 it was all about love love love love love he said it like 10 other times is that the most
01:41:26.020 barack obama-esque thing ever you know like he says a bunch of words and his hope and change and
01:41:31.320 you know we're gonna heal the planet and all this stuff and like but like what are you actually
01:41:35.720 going to do like love is not going to write a bill that's going to help like what is your plan
01:41:42.200 other than just run around and talk about love i mean it sounded like a it sounded like a sermon
01:41:47.080 at his church as opposed to you know a political speech a certain a certain male gesture comes to
01:41:53.920 mind when i hear a politician wax poetic about love love love love love like please all right
01:41:59.840 i mean we all know what politics is actually like and what he's going to do when he gets to the u.s
01:42:03.780 Senate. He's going to vote to trans the children, which is not loving. I've got one more for you, 0.97
01:42:08.080 which is Amy Acton. Amazing Amy won her race against Vivek. And thank God she will now have
01:42:14.960 the designated driver that she needs. Let's lock down the Chardonnay.
01:42:18.740 Hot five. Let's let's see how she took the news. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. Hello, Ohio.
01:42:33.780 most importantly thank you Ohio it became a movement and I am so grateful
01:42:43.540 to every one of you and I'm gonna be asking a more of you yet together we are
01:42:50.340 gonna build an Ohio where no matter where you were born you belong you can
01:42:56.580 build the life of your dreams and you can be whoever you want to be maybe
01:43:02.640 Maybe even governor.
01:43:09.540 Vink's got to be like, how did I lose to that?
01:43:12.240 How did that happen?
01:43:14.600 Oh, my God.
01:43:16.280 You're not kidding about lock up the Chardonnay. 0.98
01:43:18.620 She can't get through one speech.
01:43:20.860 Sorry.
01:43:21.980 Maybe she has a speech impediment, and I've just been too tough on her.
01:43:25.380 But she's either an alcoholic or has a speech impediment.
01:43:28.400 I hope it's the latter. 0.56
01:43:30.280 Good luck, Ohio.
01:43:31.360 Didn't we all have that aunt at Thanksgiving that that kind of reminds you of a little bit?
01:43:36.320 If I had to spend time running against Vivek Ramaswamy, I would drink too.
01:43:43.420 I think I'm going to go do it right now.
01:43:45.660 Guys, thank you.
01:43:46.680 Thanks, Meg.
01:43:47.100 Thank you all.
