Ep. 1231 - Return of the Green New Deal

Summary

The U.S. is headed for another debt-sealing fight. The Democrats, as usual, are using the threat of making the nation default on the debt as an excuse to ram through a bunch of payoffs for their cronies.

00:00:37.680 The U.S. is headed for another debt-sealing fight.
00:00:40.520 The Democrats, as usual, are using the threat of making the nation default on the debt
00:00:45.380 as an excuse to ram through a bunch of payoffs for their cronies.
00:00:50.180 Kevin McCarthy, the Republican leader in the House, is insisting on a slimmer bill
00:00:54.140 to avoid defaulting on debt without spending lots of money on liberal nonsense.
00:00:59.420 What is the White House position on the matter?
00:01:03.020 The White House is arguing that if Republicans don't cave on every ludicrous spending item
00:01:08.760 the Democrats are proposing, our bones, the bones in our bodies will literally melt.
00:01:16.720 The President's bold climate and environmental justice agenda could not stand in starker contrast
00:01:22.780 to the dangerous proposals MAGA House Republicans are putting forward.
00:01:27.500 As you can see from the slide behind me, here you go, while President Biden is fighting to
00:01:33.920 clean up toxic pollution and lower costs through clean energy tax credit, Speaker McCarthy unveiled
00:01:41.040 a ransom note holding our economy hostage.
00:01:45.180 It's a 320-page plan to kill jobs, fill our cities with smog, and give asthma to our children.
00:01:53.560 The proposal would repeal the Inflation Reduction Act's green energy tax credit, sending thousands
00:01:58.280 of jobs back to China.
00:02:00.020 It would make it easier for oil companies to use toxic chemicals that cause severe burns,
00:02:05.060 damage people's eyes, and quite literally melt bones.
00:02:09.400 That's one of the craziest things I've ever heard from a White House press secretary.
00:02:14.860 Not just from this one, who is particularly hyperbolic, but from any of them.
00:02:19.780 But the wildest part of that statement is that, putting the debt ceiling aside for a second,
00:02:25.900 the White House has uniquely, among all presidential administrations, embraced a policy that would
00:02:33.100 destroy bones, inasmuch as this administration uniquely has embraced transgender surgeries,
00:02:40.340 including for children, one of the main side effects of which is osteoporosis, the weakening of bone
00:02:45.740 density, such that many victims of these quack procedures are permanently crippled by them.
00:02:51.320 It's not just that the White House line is dishonest.
00:02:54.780 It's that it's completely backwards.
00:02:56.520 But this is the sort of thing that we've come to expect, especially from this White House press
00:03:01.820 secretary.
00:03:02.520 Last month, when this White House press secretary baselessly accused me of supporting genocide,
00:03:09.080 the greatest irony of that lie was that the White House itself supports genocide through abortion,
00:03:16.440 which slaughters some 800,000 babies each year.
00:03:21.080 Not only are we not doing the thing they're accusing us of, they themselves uniquely are guilty of it.
00:03:27.400 It's not a new phenomenon, but it's worth pointing out every time that they prove it.
00:03:31.700 When the libs make an accusation, not only should you assume it isn't true,
00:03:35.480 you should assume that they themselves are guilty of it.
00:03:39.500 I'm Michael Knowles.
00:03:40.180 This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:03:47.880 Welcome back to the show.
00:03:49.600 This episode, I am so pleased to tell you, is brought to you by Good Ranchers.
00:03:52.760 It's free bacon, great meat, a secure price, and an extra $20 off with my code Knowles,
00:04:00.440 K-N-O-W-L-E-S.

00:04:06.100 Use my code Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S, for $20 off your order.
00:04:12.540 Some really spicy footage from the liberal establishment on the January 6th, worst day
00:04:21.100 ever in all of history debacle.
00:04:24.000 And one of the men who's at the heart of that debacle, Ray Epps, we'll get to that in just
00:04:28.260 a little second.
00:04:28.940 First, though, I want to focus a little bit on the Green New Deal and the White House spending
00:04:37.260 and what the Democrats are up to here.
00:04:39.760 We have this debt ceiling fight regularly, and we could have a relatively clean bill to
00:04:45.920 raise the debt ceiling, to give the Republicans a little bit of what they want, which is to
00:04:49.900 rein in some of the spending, raise the debt ceiling.
00:04:52.440 Okay, we move on.
00:04:53.820 We're not addressing any of our underlying economic problems, but here's where we are.
00:04:57.360 And the Democrats won't do that.
00:04:58.520 The Democrats are using this as an opportunity to ram through all sorts of insane spending.
00:05:03.900 AOC has just upped the ante even further by reintroducing the Green New Deal.
00:05:11.340 You remember the Green New Deal when she first introduced it some years ago?
00:05:14.420 It would have cost something like $90 trillion over 10 years, would have completely upended
00:05:20.600 not just our environmental policy, but our whole economy.
00:05:23.460 It would have gone down to every level of our society.
00:05:26.660 It would have forced people to knock down their buildings and rebuild new green energy
00:05:31.560 efficient buildings.
00:05:32.400 It would have impacted every aspect of our political economy.
00:05:38.540 And people laughed at her at the time.
00:05:40.120 Remember, Mitch McConnell said, well, I really hope that the Democrats vote on this.
00:05:44.820 We need to bring this up to the floor for a vote immediately.
00:05:47.380 And everyone is giggling.
00:05:48.280 Ha, ha, ha.
00:05:49.120 AOC is going to embarrass the Democrats.
00:05:51.740 This is going to go nowhere.
00:05:53.000 It's going to hurt the Democrats in the elections.
00:05:55.980 Well, who's laughing now?
00:05:57.380 AOC is reintroducing the spending plan.
00:06:00.220 Senator Ed Markey is introducing it.
00:06:02.640 In the Senate.
00:06:04.360 And here's what AOC said.
00:06:05.440 She said, when we first introduced the Green New Deal, we were told that our vision for
00:06:08.020 the future was too aspirational.
00:06:10.080 Four years later, we see core tenets of the Green New Deal reflected in the Inflation Reduction Act,
00:06:15.040 the largest ever federal investment in fighting climate change, with a focus on creating good
00:06:19.800 green jobs.
00:06:20.600 Put a pause right there.
00:06:21.920 Even the Democrats are admitting the Inflation Reduction Act had nothing to do with inflation.
00:06:26.020 It actually made inflation worse.
00:06:27.760 The Inflation Reduction Act was entirely about climate change.
00:06:31.800 Climate change being the animating propaganda for their entire radical agenda.
00:06:37.800 And they admitted this not just now.
00:06:39.100 They admitted it right after the Inflation Reduction Act passed.
00:06:41.520 Even Bernie Sanders said, this is not a bill about inflation.
00:06:45.120 This is a completely different bill.
00:06:46.420 And he did, it seems, want to bring down inflation, which was hurting Americans.
00:06:50.180 But no, they just rammed it through as a climate change bill.
00:06:52.820 And the Inflation Reduction Act included parts of the Green New Deal.
00:06:56.940 Well, now AOC wants the rest of it.
00:06:58.560 She goes on.
00:06:59.060 She says, there is still much, much more to do.
00:07:02.140 Today's reintroduction marks the beginning of that process of strengthening and broadening
00:07:05.900 our coalition and of laying the policy groundwork for the next fight.
00:07:09.280 This is a really important lesson for the American right.
00:07:13.400 We on the American right, we're too timid.
00:07:16.020 We suffer from failure of imagination.
00:07:18.700 We think that if we tell people clearly what we want and what we think, that, oh, it's going
00:07:23.140 to scare off the moderate voters, the centrist, the voters, the suburban women in the suburbs
00:07:30.780 of some part of the country, we can't do it.
00:07:35.760 Did the Democrats worry about that?
00:07:37.780 Did the Democrats ever worry about turning off the moderate voters?
00:07:42.800 No.
00:07:44.860 The Democrats, just in the last 10 years, redefined marriage.
00:07:52.560 The fundamental political building block.
00:07:55.020 They have pushed now for a sacramental view of abortion that permits abortion at any moment
00:08:00.400 up until the very second before birth.
00:08:02.820 They rammed this through New York and elsewhere around the country.
00:08:06.280 They've pushed not only to chop off people's genitals, but to chop off the genitals of very
00:08:11.080 young people, to put little kids on cross-sex hormones, to introduce transgender ideology into
00:08:17.560 kindergarten and preschool, to put drag queens in elementary schools and libraries to read
00:08:22.960 to little kids, and on and on and on and on, to pass a $90 trillion bill to upend our entire
00:08:31.100 social order.
00:08:32.720 They don't worry about it.
00:08:33.740 And does it cost them anything?
00:08:35.420 Sometimes in the short term, yeah, maybe.
00:08:37.980 But in the long term, they know that they win.
00:08:39.640 In the long term, on an issue like this, AOC is going to have the last laugh because the
00:08:46.780 conservatives ironically see the conclusion of these policies.
00:08:52.000 We understand what the slippery slope looks like.
00:08:54.580 We know that if you redefine the relationship between men and women back in the 1970s, we
00:08:59.720 know that that's going to lead to redefining marriage and redefining even human nature itself.
00:09:04.080 We know that.
00:09:04.600 We predict that.
00:09:06.120 At least the social conservatives do.
00:09:08.380 The traditional conservatives do.
00:09:11.020 But then we have a failure of imagination where we say, but that's probably, that couldn't
00:09:15.140 happen.
00:09:15.480 They're not really going to do that, right?
00:09:16.980 There's no way.
00:09:20.340 The most shocking aspect of the whole transgender debate, which nobody can shut up about, the
00:09:25.020 most shocking aspect of it to me is that we're talking about it.
00:09:29.280 Did you ever think in the year 2023 that we would be discussing at what age it's appropriate
00:09:36.920 to chop off somebody's genitals?
00:09:39.200 The liberals imagined that, and then they did it.
00:09:42.060 And maybe conservatives, when we have a clear vision of society, maybe we just need to push
00:09:45.380 and push and push and don't give up and don't allow one little election cycle to get us down
00:09:51.060 and don't allow the headlines from CNN to get us down and just keep pushing like AOC.
00:09:55.780 Good honor.
00:09:56.280 What she's doing is awful.
00:09:58.260 It's a terrible idea, but good honor.
00:10:00.300 She's got political vision and she's got political talent.
00:10:04.440 And right now, she is having the latest laugh on this issue, no doubt about it.
00:10:11.360 Speaking of our sexual revolution, headline in New York Post, gay throuple hopes to be second
00:10:17.800 in US to officially be parents.
00:10:20.180 So these are three guys who like each other more than guys who are supposed to like each
00:10:24.960 other in a different way than guys who are supposed to like each other.
00:10:27.600 And they're pretending that they're married and now they're adopting a child.
00:10:32.100 When things get really crazy in your economy, you're going to want to have your wealth and
00:10:36.080 some tangible assets.
00:10:36.920 You're going to want to consider birch gold.
00:10:38.680 Right now, text NOLS, K-N-A-W-L-E-S, to 989898.
00:10:42.660 The government spending is out of control.
00:10:44.700 Long-term bonds have diminished in value.
00:10:46.580 It's crippling banks.
00:10:48.480 Depositors are holding their breath.
00:10:50.220 Investors are bailing on bank stocks.
00:10:51.840 You can't spend your way out of inflation.
00:10:54.580 Right now, text NOLS, K-N-A-W-L-E-S, to 989898.
00:10:58.540 And this volatile market diversification has never been more important.
00:11:02.460 That's why buying gold with birch gold is such a smart choice.
00:11:05.040 Gold is a tangible asset with a reliable store of value because it's not tied to any
00:11:09.640 one economy or currency.
00:11:11.460 It can be a safe haven in times of crisis.
00:11:13.780 Gold can help you hedge against inflation because its value tends to rise when the cost
00:11:18.560 of living increases.
00:11:19.820 Unlike other assets, such as paper currency, the supply of gold is limited, which can help
00:11:25.180 to maintain its value over time.
00:11:27.060 Birch gold will help you convert an existing IRA or 401k into a tax-sheltered IRA in physical
00:11:31.780 precious metals such as gold and silver.
00:11:33.760 Time to start thinking about your investments and your future.
00:11:37.460 You need to consider diversifying into gold with birch gold today.
00:11:40.040 Text NOLS, K-N-A-W-L-E-S, to 989898 to claim your free info kit on gold and talk to a precious
00:11:46.200 metals expert.
00:11:47.240 Text NOLS to 989898.
00:11:50.220 The New York Post is known for some pretty crazy headlines.
00:11:53.760 Craziest part of this headline, though, it's not the gay throuple part.
00:11:57.820 It's not the idea that they're adopting.
00:11:59.540 It's that they're not even the first to do it.
00:12:01.660 This has already happened once before.
00:12:03.600 Now there's another trio of men who want to adopt a little child.
00:12:10.340 From the article, quote, Tegan is going to love having three dads.
00:12:16.000 She will always have so much love.
00:12:18.660 We would let them know love is love from a mother or a father.
00:12:22.320 And them here, one of these men is referring to them in the singular.
00:12:26.340 They're saying the daughter, instead of saying, let her know, they're saying, let them know
00:12:30.920 that love is love from a mother or a father.
00:12:35.260 Ben said, one of the fathers, according to the independent.
00:12:40.500 So that sounds really nice.
00:12:41.460 That's a nice, happy, liberal line.
00:12:44.160 Look, she's going to have so much love.
00:12:46.180 We're going to let her know that love is love from a mother or a father.
00:12:49.240 But what's the translation of that?
00:12:50.640 The translation of that sentence is, mothers aren't important.
00:12:56.680 Mothers don't matter at all.
00:12:59.280 Baby doesn't need a mother.
00:13:00.300 Forget about a baby doesn't need a mother.
00:13:01.680 Sometimes tragedies happen.
00:13:02.840 Mothers die.
00:13:03.620 Okay.
00:13:06.080 Mothers don't matter.
00:13:08.040 Mothers don't add anything to raising a child.
00:13:10.620 That's what that means.
00:13:12.280 And that is the view that is now popular in liberal circles.
00:13:15.600 And it's the view reflected in our law.
00:13:18.740 The moment that any municipality in this country permitted gay adoption.
00:13:28.120 I'll go further back.
00:13:29.220 The moment that any municipality in this country permitted single mother adoption.
00:13:35.620 Or is single father adoption a thing?
00:13:37.380 I hope not, but probably it is these days.
00:13:39.460 But the moment that our law said that marriage is either the union of a man and a woman.
00:13:46.700 Or the union of two men or the union of two women.
00:13:49.080 The moment that the law said those things.
00:13:51.980 The law said mothers don't matter.
00:13:54.440 Or conversely, fathers don't matter.
00:13:57.860 No, it's fine.
00:13:58.760 You know, there's no advantage to having a mother or a father.
00:14:02.960 It's just whatever adults want to do to satisfy their sexual appetites and fantasies.
00:14:08.620 Because that's all that matters.
00:14:11.040 And then if they want a kid because they have a natural longing to have a kid.
00:14:14.400 Well, that's fine.
00:14:15.340 And if they're in a disordered sort of situation.
00:14:17.740 Well, you know.
00:14:20.020 They're just.
00:14:20.620 That's just love is love.
00:14:22.580 Love is love.
00:14:24.040 Wouldn't it be good if the kid had a mother though?
00:14:25.520 Don't you think?
00:14:26.080 Not.
00:14:26.500 Shh.
00:14:27.160 Love is love.
00:14:28.780 Love is love.
00:14:29.640 That's what that means.
00:14:30.800 The story goes on.
00:14:32.840 From one of the fellows.
00:14:34.000 To know that I'm making a path for other relationships that look like mine feels good.
00:14:38.800 It reminds me of the early days when I was fighting for legal rights to get married to a man or two lesbians to marry.
00:14:46.200 This is a really important sentence.
00:14:49.520 Because he's wrong about the idea that two men can marry each other or that two women can marry each other.
00:14:55.860 That's not possible.
00:14:57.020 No hate on the fellas.
00:14:59.380 Because, you know, I got plenty of friends who have all sorts of divergent views of sex and gender.
00:15:05.120 Okay.
00:15:05.340 I'm from New York.
00:15:06.160 I went to a very gay university.
00:15:07.420 I lived in LA.
00:15:08.200 I have a disproportionate number of friends who have gone down these paths and have these kinds of views.
00:15:14.520 Okay.
00:15:14.860 And there's no animus toward anybody at all.
00:15:17.760 It's simply a fact of the meaning of the word marriage.
00:15:22.180 That if marriage is to have any meaning at all, it has to involve sexual difference.
00:15:25.980 The moment you take that away, you take all the boundaries off of marriage.
00:15:30.980 And very quickly thereafter, you end up with a throuple.
00:15:34.540 All the conservatives who said, well, if we're going to redefine marriage to take away sexual difference, why won't we have polygamy soon?
00:15:41.780 And what did the libs say?
00:15:42.640 They said, that's a crazy, ridiculous, slippery slope, stupid argument.
00:15:45.360 Well, here we are.
00:15:46.280 It's not, marriage wasn't redefined all that long ago.
00:15:49.720 And now we've got not the first throuple to adopt children, but the second.
00:15:54.140 And you're going to see the third and the fourth and the fifth and the sixth.
00:15:58.300 The point that he makes here, though, is actually a very good point.
00:16:01.120 One of these fellas, he says, this reminds me of the early days when I was fighting for legal rights to redefine all these things.
00:16:08.960 And I know that I'm making a path for other relationships that look like mine.
00:16:13.360 That's true.
00:16:14.040 If we tolerate this as a matter of culture and law, we're going to get more of it.
00:16:22.660 One of the big mistakes that the right has made in recent decades is we've bought into some kind of magical thinking,
00:16:29.940 according to which if the government outlaws something, you don't necessarily get less of it.
00:16:37.440 And if the government encourages something, you don't necessarily get more of it.
00:16:42.640 You see this especially in shallow debates over drugs.
00:16:46.660 Every pothead sophomore in college will say, hey, man, you know what?
00:16:50.900 I think we should legalize all the drugs.
00:16:53.460 Because the thing is, man, if you legalize the drugs, you're going to get less of the drugs.
00:16:58.400 Now, man, because it's illegal, everyone's doing it more.
00:17:01.780 But if you make it legal, man, you probably get a lot less of it.
00:17:04.620 You know what I mean, man?
00:17:07.480 That's what they say.
00:17:08.160 And that has never been true anywhere ever in human history.
00:17:11.680 And it's just a basic fact of economics and human life.
00:17:14.960 If you incentivize something, you get more of it.
00:17:18.020 If you disincentivize something, you get less of it.
00:17:21.520 And right now, our society has laid all of the groundwork to incentivize throuples and throuples adopting poor little kids
00:17:32.660 who will be intentionally deprived of a mother or of a father.
00:17:36.380 And that's wrong.
00:17:37.660 That's very wrong.
00:17:38.820 And if we all know that this is wrong, as we all do, then we have to ask, well, why is it wrong?
00:17:44.780 And if we want to correct that wrong, we're going to have to go back and fix some of the errors that we've made in recent years.
00:17:51.280 Speaking of fallout from this weird sexual revolution, there's an athlete in North Carolina,
00:17:57.960 a female athlete who has sustained massive injuries after being spiked in the face with a volleyball by a trans woman athlete.
00:18:08.380 So a man who identifies as a woman spiking this ball into her face.
00:18:12.640 There's a video of it.
00:18:13.280 Ball goes up.
00:18:16.780 Okay, here comes this ladylike trans.
00:18:20.940 You don't want to look at it because, you know, it's so clear.
00:18:24.620 It's so awful.
00:18:25.160 It knocks this poor actual woman down and gives her all sorts of injuries.
00:18:30.440 The woman was just speaking in North Carolina on what those injuries have been like.
00:18:35.560 I was severely injured in a high school volleyball game by a transgender athlete on the opposing team.
00:18:41.740 I suffered from a concussion and neck injury that, to this day, I'm still recovering from.
00:18:47.980 Other injuries I still suffer from today include impaired vision, partial paralysis on my right side,
00:18:54.620 constant headaches, as well as anxiety and depression.
00:18:58.160 I was unable to play the rest of my last volleyball season, and although I am currently playing softball,
00:19:04.540 I am not able to perform as well as I know I have in the past because of the injury.
00:19:09.180 My ability to learn, retain, comprehend has also been impaired, and I require accommodations at school for testing because of this.
00:19:19.840 Allowing biological males to compete against biological females is dangerous.
00:19:25.500 I may be the first to come before you with an injury.
00:19:28.640 If this doesn't pass, I won't be the last.
00:19:31.440 Certainly, she won't be the last.
00:19:34.160 As we see more and more of this, as we see transgenderism as a social contagion.
00:19:38.620 Don't forget, the rates of transgender identification among youth have skyrocketed in recent years.
00:19:45.240 Gone up 50%, 100% over historic rates.
00:19:49.660 You're going to see more of this, and you're going to see more of this on the volleyball court and in all of the sports leagues.
00:19:55.380 And I've said before, talking about the integrity of women's sports is a perfectly fine example to highlight the absurdity of the transgender ideology.
00:20:08.360 But it's not the main reason why transgenderism is wrong.
00:20:13.560 As I've pointed out, nobody watches the WNBA.
00:20:15.580 Nobody really cares about women's sports per se.
00:20:18.460 We care about women's sports because it's an example of the injustice of this transgender ideology.
00:20:24.160 The argument for transgenderism is these poor, confused people, they're having a rough go of it.
00:20:29.220 So let's just let the fellas go into the women's bathroom, and let's let the fellas play in the women's team, and let's just kind of go along with it, okay?
00:20:36.460 Well, here's the cost of that.
00:20:38.780 This is a finite world.
00:20:39.980 Everything has costs.
00:20:41.180 Everything has trade-offs.
00:20:42.160 We were just talking about economics.
00:20:43.280 So the question you've got to ask yourself is, is it worth it?
00:20:47.400 Is it worth concussing young women and partially paralyzing them and permanently disabling them to affirm the fantasies of deluded men?
00:21:00.920 There are going to be people out there who say, yeah, that's worth it.
00:21:04.600 Something tells me it's going to be the same people who say babies don't need mothers.
00:21:07.840 Yeah, mothers don't add anything.
00:21:09.000 Women don't add anything to society.
00:21:10.400 We don't need to recognize sexual difference.
00:21:13.540 Who cares?
00:21:14.160 I bet it's going to be the same people who say all of those things.
00:21:17.080 But that's not what I would say.
00:21:19.500 I would say it most certainly is not worth concussing young women, young girls, to indulge a delusion.
00:21:27.700 Especially when it's on the premise that by indulging this delusion, we're going to vastly improve the mental health outcomes of these young, sexually confused people.
00:21:39.540 When we don't, there's no evidence that that happens at all.
00:21:42.160 And in fact, the largest data set on the transgender phenomenon has shown, and there's an excellent article about this over at Heritage by Ryan T. Anderson.
00:21:51.020 That largest data set has shown that there is no mental health improvement as a result of the transgender procedures, both surgical and hormonal.
00:21:59.400 And in fact, on one score, on the score of anxiety, it would seem that the people who have these procedures do worse, okay?
00:22:06.120 So nobody benefits.
00:22:08.960 Everybody is harmed, and some people are harmed especially.
00:22:13.140 We're talking especially about a woman like this poor young gal who now has permanent injuries, okay?
00:22:21.300 Now, I do have some good news amidst all this crazy culture.
00:22:25.220 The good news is you can get great meat at a great price if you check out Good Ranchers.
00:22:29.420 Right now, go to GoodRanchers.com.
00:22:31.560 Use promo code Knowles.
00:22:32.720 If you've not changed the way that you buy meat yet, you really need to.
00:22:35.480 I'm going to give you three reasons that I personally subscribe to Good Ranchers.
00:22:39.120 Number one, Good Ranchers is giving you free bacon for a year.
00:22:41.960 That's a pound and a half of bacon in every box.
00:22:44.020 That's a $240 value.
00:22:45.660 Second, Good Ranchers offers a price lock guarantee, which is insane when we've got record inflation.
00:22:51.300 It means that when you subscribe, your price does not change for the entire length of your subscription.
00:22:57.740 When the price of meat is expected to increase by another 4.5% in the coming year,
00:23:01.780 this could be a huge savings for you and your family.
00:23:04.160 Third, Good Ranchers meat is unlike any other.
00:23:06.780 They're all natural burgers, USDA prime steaks, and better than organic chicken will change your standard for great meat.
00:23:12.820 I am very particular when it comes to my food, okay?
00:23:15.680 I am easily satisfied by the very best.
00:23:18.180 Good Ranchers is far and away the best out there.
00:23:22.500 The quality of the meat is just insane, and I eat Good Ranchers, if not for the outright majority of my meals total,
00:23:28.420 three meals a day, at least for the plurality of them, okay?
00:23:31.560 I just adore Good Ranchers.

00:23:44.700 American meat delivered.
00:23:47.000 You know, when leftists tell you that America is systemically racist, they are lying.
00:23:51.600 All evidence points to the contrary.
00:23:53.580 Every attempt to fix this non-existent problem in the name of equity is making the country worse.
00:23:58.720 Heather McDonald is shutting down that malignant ideology of anti-racism in her brand new book,
00:24:03.460 When Race Trumps Merit, How the Pursuit of Equity Sacrifices Excellence, Destroys Beauty, and Threatens Lives.
00:24:08.640 She exposes how the BLM-fueled equity obsession is destroying Western civilization.
00:24:14.360 We no longer enforce many criminal laws, because doing so has a, quote,
00:24:17.760 disparate impact on minority criminals.
00:24:20.340 By lowering standards, Heather explains, we've jeopardized scientific progress,
00:24:23.860 destroyed public order, and poisoned the appreciation of art and culture.
00:24:28.220 When Race Trumps Merit is an eye-opening book,
00:24:31.520 and Heather is unafraid to break taboos about academic achievement and crime.
00:24:35.360 She provides the data and the life stories that show the damage being done to the country in real time in the name of equity.
00:24:40.960 The book is fabulous, as is everything that Heather writes.
00:24:43.440 Go check it out today.
00:24:44.420 When Race Trumps Merit is available on Amazon and wherever excellent books are sold.
00:24:52.300 You want to talk about trade-offs?
00:24:54.900 There's a Wisconsin high school,
00:24:56.720 which girls, after their practice, after gym class, they'll take a shower.
00:25:00.940 And in that locker room, you've got 14-year-old girls trying to shower,
00:25:06.860 and then you've got an 18-year-old man who identifies as a woman.
00:25:09.940 And the 18-year-old man comes in,
00:25:12.060 and in this high school,
00:25:15.220 the girls often will shower in their bathing suits.
00:25:18.400 But this 18-year-old man who identifies as a woman,
00:25:20.880 he decided he's not going to identify,
00:25:22.840 or he's not going to wear his bathing suit, rather.
00:25:24.880 He's going to strip down completely naked and expose himself.
00:25:27.840 This is an 18-year-old dude to 14-year-old little girls.
00:25:31.340 This occurred just on March 3rd.
00:25:33.380 This was not that long ago.
00:25:37.680 Is that worth it?
00:25:39.020 It's your daughter, 14-year-old daughter.
00:25:40.640 She goes in, she showers after gym class
00:25:43.140 or after a sports practice in her high school.
00:25:45.780 14-year-old daughter looks,
00:25:47.920 and there's a fully grown 18-year-old dude
00:25:50.760 stripped naked right in front of her,
00:25:52.480 showing off everything he's got.
00:25:54.880 Are you going to tolerate that?
00:25:56.260 Is that trade-off worth it?
00:26:00.400 To maybe make the guy feel a little bit better,
00:26:04.500 even though there's really no evidence
00:26:06.540 it's even making him feel better in the long run.
00:26:09.160 Is that worth it?
00:26:11.400 No.
00:26:13.560 And this is why, by the way,
00:26:16.300 we can no longer tolerate this ideology
00:26:19.780 anywhere in society,
00:26:21.760 at any level.
00:26:23.360 This is why.
00:26:25.740 It's not because we're meanies.
00:26:27.380 It's not because we're forcing the issue.
00:26:28.880 We didn't force the issue.
00:26:30.280 It's the libs who forced the issue.
00:26:33.120 There was one of the people from Media Matters,
00:26:36.600 Zachary Drenner.
00:26:39.640 He's one of the pro-trans people
00:26:41.700 over at Media Matters.
00:26:43.000 And he asked me,
00:26:43.980 because he posts my clips all the time.
00:26:45.820 He's effectively my publicist over there
00:26:47.580 at Media Matters.
00:26:48.260 And he asked me one time,
00:26:50.640 he said,
00:26:51.020 Michael,
00:26:52.220 why have you taken such a hard line
00:26:54.060 on this issue?
00:26:55.120 Back when you interviewed Blair White
00:26:57.180 some years ago,
00:26:57.800 Blair White is a man who's kind of,
00:26:59.820 he's mostly right wing,
00:27:01.040 but he identifies as a woman,
00:27:02.220 but he knows that he's not really a woman.
00:27:03.520 And it's, you know,
00:27:04.060 he's got a kind of nuanced view on the issue.
00:27:06.180 And he said,
00:27:06.460 when you,
00:27:06.720 back when you interviewed Blair White,
00:27:07.920 you asked the question,
00:27:09.460 what pronouns am I supposed to use
00:27:11.420 to refer to you?
00:27:13.240 So why now are you taking such a hard line?
00:27:17.220 Well, I haven't changed my view of things.
00:27:20.060 Exactly.
00:27:20.560 I haven't changed my view
00:27:21.440 of what makes a man
00:27:22.140 and what makes a woman
00:27:22.800 and what pronouns are supposed to be
00:27:24.180 used for men and women.
00:27:26.180 But back in those days,
00:27:27.580 in those long ago days of five years ago,
00:27:31.220 sometimes people would make
00:27:34.420 little exceptions
00:27:35.440 or at least little jokes.
00:27:38.260 Because there have always been
00:27:39.700 a very small number
00:27:40.800 of sexually confused people
00:27:42.360 who indulge either a sexual fetish
00:27:45.620 or a kind of a delusion
00:27:47.000 or they've just got some issues
00:27:48.400 where they think they're the opposite sex
00:27:49.660 or very much want to be one.
00:27:52.460 And very often society
00:27:53.760 would just kind of let it slide
00:27:54.940 a little bit.
00:27:56.760 Okay, we'd say,
00:27:57.320 if you met a man
00:27:58.780 who was dressed up as a woman,
00:28:00.600 you might say,
00:28:00.980 oh, hello,
00:28:01.760 how are you doing, m'lady?
00:28:04.700 Hi there, Sheila.
00:28:07.020 Yeah, isn't she really nice?
00:28:08.860 Or whatever.
00:28:09.100 And you'd kind of make an exception
00:28:11.020 or you would make a little joke
00:28:13.080 about it maybe.
00:28:14.140 Or, in the case of the bathrooms,
00:28:17.400 for a very long time,
00:28:20.060 there have been
00:28:20.580 every one in a million,
00:28:23.200 some guy who's confused,
00:28:24.840 who dresses up as a woman,
00:28:25.740 and goes into the bathroom.
00:28:26.740 And if you ever saw it happen,
00:28:27.940 you'd think,
00:28:28.460 this is pretty weird
00:28:29.240 and maybe you'd be
00:28:29.740 a little bit more on guard.
00:28:30.820 And if a guy saw it,
00:28:31.680 you know,
00:28:31.820 you'd keep a little
00:28:33.220 situational awareness here.
00:28:35.140 But people would just
00:28:35.980 kind of let it slide
00:28:37.280 out of pity
00:28:39.060 for these
00:28:40.660 very, very troubled individuals
00:28:42.840 and for the fact
00:28:44.100 of this fallen world
00:28:44.940 in which
00:28:45.880 things don't always make sense
00:28:47.720 and things go awry
00:28:48.700 often.
00:28:52.000 The libs will no longer
00:28:53.640 allow us
00:28:54.420 to express
00:28:55.260 that kind of pity
00:28:56.440 or make those kinds of exceptions.
00:28:57.960 because the libs
00:28:59.160 are now trying
00:28:59.900 to enshrine
00:29:00.760 this
00:29:01.720 eccentricity,
00:29:04.400 this absurdity.
00:29:05.920 They're trying to enshrine it
00:29:06.960 as a principle
00:29:07.880 of our society.
00:29:09.140 They're trying to establish it
00:29:10.500 as a principle of law.
00:29:12.140 They're trying to make us all
00:29:13.240 say this is the truth.
00:29:16.340 This is true.
00:29:17.100 And if a man says
00:29:18.260 he's a woman,
00:29:18.620 he has the right
00:29:19.000 to walk into any
00:29:19.600 women's bathroom he wants.
00:29:20.500 He has the right
00:29:20.820 to shower in front of
00:29:21.480 any 14-year-old girls
00:29:22.340 he wants.
00:29:22.800 And we can't tolerate that.
00:29:24.760 You're forcing the issue
00:29:26.260 and you're making us say no.
00:29:27.340 It's a lie.
00:29:28.540 You're totally wrong.
00:29:30.000 You have no right
00:29:30.820 to do this at all.
00:29:32.940 I can't even,
00:29:33.480 if you're going to call
00:29:34.440 society's whole attention
00:29:35.440 to it,
00:29:35.740 we can't allow this.
00:29:36.720 It's just wrong,
00:29:37.640 all right?
00:29:38.660 You are forcing the issue
00:29:40.200 and the libs
00:29:41.500 have forced that issue.
00:29:43.100 They started to force
00:29:43.860 this issue
00:29:44.240 after they got
00:29:45.320 the redefinition
00:29:45.960 of marriage.
00:29:46.820 All of these
00:29:47.500 pro-LGBT organizations
00:29:49.100 that wanted to keep
00:29:50.180 the money rolling in
00:29:51.180 and wanted to keep
00:29:52.040 the activism going
00:29:52.860 and wanted to push
00:29:53.620 the ideology further,
00:29:54.860 they all pivoted
00:29:55.920 to transgenderism.
00:29:56.860 The quote-unquote
00:29:57.560 human rights campaign
00:29:58.400 especially,
00:29:59.220 which that was the group
00:30:00.580 that had the equal sign
00:30:01.780 bumper sticker.
00:30:03.440 They realized,
00:30:04.420 well,
00:30:04.520 we're a big powerful lobby
00:30:05.560 and we got everything
00:30:06.840 that we wanted,
00:30:07.600 so what are we doing now?
00:30:08.400 We got to keep
00:30:08.700 the money coming in.
00:30:09.320 All right,
00:30:09.600 we'll become the trans
00:30:10.600 organization now.
00:30:11.720 And so they started
00:30:12.240 pushing for it
00:30:13.020 and they forced us
00:30:15.380 to take a clear stance
00:30:17.280 on it.
00:30:17.640 So that's it.
00:30:18.680 Do you want 18-year-olds
00:30:19.460 stripping naked
00:30:20.000 in front of your 14-year-old
00:30:20.940 daughter and showering
00:30:21.640 with her?
00:30:22.020 No.
00:30:22.600 Then transgenderism
00:30:23.540 has to be eradicated
00:30:24.420 from public life entirely
00:30:25.700 for the good of society,
00:30:26.940 especially for the good
00:30:27.580 of the confused people
00:30:28.420 who have fallen prey
00:30:29.300 to that delusion.
00:30:30.160 The whole preposterous
00:30:31.180 ideology at every level,
00:30:33.000 period.
00:30:33.360 And that's why you're
00:30:33.900 seeing Republican politicians
00:30:35.140 now adopt that stance.
00:30:36.960 When I said it at CPAC
00:30:38.200 a month ago,
00:30:38.800 a little over a month ago now,
00:30:40.340 the libs totally freaked out.
00:30:42.320 They lied about what I said,
00:30:43.260 including the White House.
00:30:44.820 Now you're seeing
00:30:45.560 Ron DeSantis,
00:30:46.960 down in Florida,
00:30:47.560 adopted that position
00:30:48.480 just last week.
00:30:49.460 Great, good stuff,
00:30:50.520 good on him.
00:30:51.140 You're seeing a lot
00:30:51.660 of other Republicans
00:30:52.280 around the country
00:30:52.960 adopt that position.
00:30:54.640 We have to adopt that position.
00:30:56.420 We have no other choice.
00:30:58.120 That's what happens
00:30:59.460 when the libs force an issue.
00:31:01.320 Speaking of the public
00:31:02.060 turning on this issue,
00:31:03.200 Bud Light has just placed
00:31:04.480 that VP of marketing
00:31:05.780 who pushed for the
00:31:07.000 Dylan Mulvaney beer can,
00:31:08.180 just placed her on leave.
00:31:11.080 This is Alyssa Heinerscheid.
00:31:14.020 Not to be confused
00:31:14.940 with sweet little Alyssa.
00:31:16.780 There's a huge variety
00:31:17.640 among Alyssa's around here.
00:31:19.840 Alyssa Heinerscheid,
00:31:20.900 VP of marketing at Bud Light,
00:31:23.980 will for now be replaced
00:31:26.080 by Budweiser global marketing
00:31:27.740 VP Todd Allen,
00:31:29.880 according to Anheuser-Busch,
00:31:31.660 InBev telling AdAge.
00:31:33.320 But she's just on leave.
00:31:34.200 She hasn't been fired.
00:31:35.200 She's just,
00:31:35.720 she's laying low
00:31:37.000 for a little bit.
00:31:37.600 Even this is indecisive.
00:31:39.940 This reminds me
00:31:40.440 of an old political principle,
00:31:42.100 which is sometimes
00:31:43.120 a wrong decision
00:31:44.440 can be better
00:31:45.200 than indecision.
00:31:46.400 Here,
00:31:47.180 since the Dylan Mulvaney
00:31:48.360 controversy,
00:31:49.560 Budweiser doubled down
00:31:51.100 on the sponsorship,
00:31:52.240 then pretended it didn't
00:31:53.400 know anything
00:31:53.940 about the sponsorship,
00:31:55.420 then made an advertisement
00:31:56.920 about horses or something,
00:31:58.520 then issued an apology letter
00:32:00.520 where there was no apology,
00:32:01.780 and it was just
00:32:02.340 the Budweiser CEO
00:32:03.700 talking about
00:32:04.460 how much he supports
00:32:05.240 the military or something.
00:32:06.340 And then they,
00:32:08.620 but then they can sort of
00:32:10.860 continue to double down
00:32:11.980 and anyway,
00:32:12.480 now they're putting
00:32:13.360 the VP on leave,
00:32:14.920 but I don't know.
00:32:15.660 It's very,
00:32:16.540 very indecisive.
00:32:18.460 And it's harming them immensely.
00:32:20.860 I think they could have
00:32:21.420 survived it
00:32:21.860 if they would just shut up,
00:32:23.300 but they can't do it.
00:32:24.640 So they lose
00:32:25.080 six and a half billion
00:32:25.820 in market cap,
00:32:26.580 and now lots of bars
00:32:27.580 won't even carry their beer.
00:32:29.040 And now you've got Kid Rock
00:32:30.740 just shooting machine guns
00:32:32.880 at boxes of Bud Light
00:32:35.220 because of how outrageous
00:32:36.300 this ideology is.
00:32:37.960 And now it's going to be
00:32:38.780 hard for them to recover.
00:32:41.000 Had they been decisive,
00:32:42.060 they either could have
00:32:42.480 doubled down and said,
00:32:43.120 yep, we're now
00:32:43.600 the pro-trans beer,
00:32:45.080 and plenty of companies
00:32:46.220 have done that and survived.
00:32:47.280 Or they could have said,
00:32:48.300 nope, this is insane.
00:32:49.280 We support frat boys
00:32:50.220 and construction workers,
00:32:51.340 which is the actual
00:32:52.240 customer base of Bud Light.
00:32:55.040 But that indecision
00:32:56.220 has given them
00:32:58.100 the worst of both worlds.
00:32:59.340 Speaking of the public turning,
00:33:00.740 public opinion,
00:33:02.140 and speaking of
00:33:02.800 Governor DeSantis,
00:33:03.820 great news out of Florida,
00:33:04.820 41% of Floridians
00:33:07.180 support Ron DeSantis'
00:33:09.260 new six-week abortion ban.
00:33:12.280 Now, there are going
00:33:12.640 to be some people
00:33:13.240 who say six-week abortion ban.
00:33:15.180 What about the babies
00:33:15.860 zero to six weeks?
00:33:16.980 I don't know.
00:33:17.360 I agree.
00:33:18.280 Abortion is wrong.
00:33:20.100 It's wrong to murder people.
00:33:21.940 It's especially wrong
00:33:22.840 to murder innocent
00:33:23.560 little babies.
00:33:24.460 And so, yeah, it's wrong.
00:33:25.900 And we should just
00:33:26.840 get rid of abortion totally.
00:33:28.280 There are plenty of other
00:33:28.900 alternatives to abortion.
00:33:30.180 Abortion solves no problems.
00:33:31.980 It does not rectify
00:33:33.480 any crimes.
00:33:34.160 It's just a crime
00:33:34.760 in and of itself.
00:33:35.700 Totally agree.
00:33:37.620 But you see DeSantis now
00:33:38.620 just starting to ratchet it up
00:33:39.760 a little bit.
00:33:40.160 Okay, we got this ban.
00:33:41.060 Now we got a 15-week ban.
00:33:42.060 Now we're going to go
00:33:42.460 to a six-week ban.
00:33:43.840 The great news here
00:33:44.960 is that the public
00:33:47.140 seems to be going along
00:33:48.500 with him.
00:33:49.620 At no point,
00:33:50.720 as Charlie Cook
00:33:51.380 points out
00:33:52.020 at National Review,
00:33:52.840 at no point
00:33:53.480 in the history
00:33:54.020 of Gallup polling,
00:33:55.680 did Gallup find
00:33:57.500 41% support
00:33:59.480 for a ban on abortion
00:34:01.100 before 12 weeks.
00:34:03.680 In fact,
00:34:05.240 support for abortion
00:34:06.000 used to be much,
00:34:06.760 much higher.
00:34:07.160 He says,
00:34:07.580 if we average out
00:34:08.400 the responses
00:34:09.000 that Gallup obtained
00:34:10.180 between July 1996
00:34:11.260 and May 2022,
00:34:12.860 we see that 64%
00:34:14.220 of Americans
00:34:14.840 believe that abortion
00:34:16.060 should generally be legal
00:34:18.100 in the first three months
00:34:19.560 of pregnancy.
00:34:20.100 and now you've got
00:34:21.900 41% saying
00:34:22.840 it shouldn't be legal
00:34:25.040 after six weeks.
00:34:27.660 So this is one
00:34:28.640 of these few issues
00:34:29.460 on which the public
00:34:30.260 has become
00:34:30.840 much more pro-life.
00:34:33.440 Well, it's obviously
00:34:33.900 this is the one issue
00:34:34.600 on which it's become
00:34:35.100 more pro-life.
00:34:35.640 This is one of the few issues
00:34:36.360 in which the public
00:34:37.180 has moved much,
00:34:38.080 much more
00:34:38.500 into our corner
00:34:39.880 and you're seeing
00:34:40.400 that play out
00:34:40.940 in real time
00:34:41.400 and you're seeing
00:34:42.000 the evidence of that
00:34:42.800 because conservative
00:34:44.160 legislators and governors
00:34:45.380 are pushing
00:34:46.260 these kinds of bills.
00:34:47.320 Reminds me of a line
00:34:48.140 from Cardinal Manning,
00:34:49.040 which is that
00:34:50.260 there is a day to come
00:34:51.340 that will reverse
00:34:52.240 the confident judgments
00:34:53.160 of men.
00:34:53.860 We live in this
00:34:54.500 ever-present
00:34:58.000 or we think
00:34:59.280 that we live
00:34:59.700 in an ever-present
00:35:00.380 where nothing
00:35:01.160 is ever going to change
00:35:01.940 the way things are
00:35:02.500 right now.
00:35:02.940 That's how they're
00:35:03.240 always going to be.
00:35:03.900 That's not true.
00:35:04.600 That's not how time works.
00:35:05.460 That's not how history works.
00:35:07.800 Progressives think
00:35:08.360 history works
00:35:09.140 in this totally
00:35:12.020 straight fashion
00:35:13.200 from bad olden days
00:35:14.440 to good future days
00:35:15.520 where they're going
00:35:16.160 to get rid of
00:35:16.540 all the conservatives
00:35:17.140 and they're going
00:35:17.540 to live in a utopia.
00:35:18.280 That's also not
00:35:19.180 how history works.
00:35:21.960 Sometimes
00:35:22.480 the confident judgments
00:35:24.260 of men
00:35:24.660 will be reversed.
00:35:25.980 Sometimes
00:35:26.500 the advancement
00:35:28.240 of history
00:35:28.720 sees people moving
00:35:29.560 more and more
00:35:30.340 over to our views,
00:35:32.060 the sane views
00:35:33.500 of things.
00:35:34.260 It's a reminder too
00:35:35.120 of a line
00:35:35.640 that's alternately
00:35:36.920 credited to Dean Inge
00:35:38.220 and Fulton Sheen
00:35:39.200 which is that
00:35:40.280 if you wed yourself
00:35:41.380 to the spirit
00:35:42.740 of the age,
00:35:43.240 you will find yourself
00:35:43.880 a widow in the next.
00:35:45.880 It's a lesson
00:35:46.320 to all those
00:35:46.720 squishy Republicans.
00:35:48.520 Don't just buy
00:35:49.700 into whatever
00:35:50.140 you think is
00:35:51.060 popular or fashionable
00:35:52.500 or inevitable.
00:35:53.760 Don't do it.
00:35:55.500 Buy into what is right.
00:35:56.800 This is what DeSantis
00:35:57.520 said on the trans issue.
00:35:58.740 He said,
00:35:59.020 look,
00:36:00.080 he said basically
00:36:01.300 exactly what I just said.
00:36:02.460 He said,
00:36:02.920 if you
00:36:03.940 are going to force
00:36:06.180 this issue on us,
00:36:07.240 you're telling me
00:36:08.100 I've got to live
00:36:08.680 according to lies.
00:36:09.700 You're telling me
00:36:10.120 that I've got to
00:36:10.660 participate in a lie.
00:36:12.000 I'm not going to do that.
00:36:13.560 If you pursue the truth,
00:36:14.700 it might make you
00:36:15.460 unpopular
00:36:15.860 at any particular moment
00:36:16.980 but you're going to be
00:36:17.820 in a much better position
00:36:19.180 in the long run.
00:36:21.040 My favorite comment
00:36:21.920 yesterday is from
00:36:22.480 Have a Seat over there
00:36:23.220 who says,
00:36:25.080 I want a Will Smith
00:36:26.720 docu-series
00:36:27.620 starring Michael Knowles
00:36:29.060 as Will Smith.
00:36:30.080 I think that's a great idea.
00:36:31.960 I think it's a wonderful
00:36:34.200 palate cleanser
00:36:34.880 after you watch
00:36:35.460 the new Netflix
00:36:36.140 Cleopatra.
00:36:37.920 It's going to be great.
00:36:39.900 We're going to have
00:36:41.080 colorblind casting.
00:36:42.140 Okay, good.
00:36:42.640 I will get to
00:36:43.520 the Will Smith movie
00:36:44.400 right after I finish
00:36:45.840 my Malcolm X biopic.
00:36:48.400 It's going to be
00:36:49.000 really, really great.
00:36:50.040 I'll already start practicing.
00:36:50.860 Keep my wife's name
00:36:52.220 out of your...
00:36:53.540 Well, I mean,
00:36:54.500 this is a family show.
00:36:55.380 I'll save the profanity
00:36:56.200 for when we make the movie.
00:36:59.140 So we got some big,
00:37:00.760 big news, baby.
00:37:03.760 We got some...
00:37:04.680 We got a new candidate
00:37:05.680 in the race
00:37:06.520 for president.
00:37:08.080 That candidate,
00:37:10.100 Larry Elder.
00:37:10.600 My announcement, Tucker,
00:37:13.420 is that I'm announcing
00:37:14.180 that I'm running
00:37:14.660 for the presidency
00:37:15.220 of the United States
00:37:16.000 on your program.
00:37:17.240 And thank you so much
00:37:17.840 for giving me this honor
00:37:18.740 and this platform.
00:37:19.980 My website is
00:37:20.940 elderforpresident.com,
00:37:22.560 elderforpresident.com.
00:37:25.020 And, Tucker,
00:37:25.320 the reason I'm doing this
00:37:26.300 is because, you know,
00:37:27.680 my father was a World War II vet.
00:37:29.860 He served on the island of Guam.
00:37:32.360 He was a Marine.
00:37:33.740 First black Marines.
00:37:34.720 They were called
00:37:35.000 Monfort Point Marines.
00:37:35.980 My older brother,
00:37:36.900 my late older brother,
00:37:37.720 Kirk,
00:37:38.320 was in the Navy
00:37:39.000 during the Vietnam era.
00:37:40.220 And my little brother, Dennis,
00:37:41.680 actually served in Vietnam
00:37:42.680 in the Army.
00:37:43.480 I'm the only one
00:37:44.060 who didn't serve.
00:37:44.780 And I don't feel good about that.
00:37:46.380 I feel I have a moral,
00:37:47.920 a religious,
00:37:48.640 and a patriotic duty
00:37:49.460 to give back to a country
00:37:50.680 that's been so good
00:37:51.400 to my family and to me.
00:37:52.660 And that is why
00:37:53.320 I'm doing this, Tucker.
00:37:54.860 Well, that's amazing.
00:37:56.340 Congratulations.
00:37:58.200 Now, Larry has been signaling
00:38:00.340 that he's interested
00:38:01.260 in running for president
00:38:02.260 in recent months.
00:38:04.040 So now he's coming out.
00:38:05.020 He's doing it.
00:38:05.640 He is entering the field.
00:38:07.120 His explanation
00:38:07.760 is a fairly standard
00:38:09.300 conservative explanation,
00:38:10.520 which is,
00:38:10.880 I want to serve.
00:38:11.740 You know,
00:38:11.980 if my country calls on me,
00:38:13.600 I'm going to do it.
00:38:14.740 And Larry Elder's
00:38:15.480 a very popular guy
00:38:16.640 on the right.
00:38:18.480 So the reason
00:38:20.340 that Larry's announcement
00:38:21.180 to me is so interesting
00:38:22.740 is because Larry
00:38:24.480 is something of an anomaly
00:38:26.520 in the Republican field
00:38:28.200 right now.
00:38:28.920 Larry's always been
00:38:29.520 something of an anomaly.
00:38:30.660 It's L.A. guy,
00:38:31.880 Sage from South Central,
00:38:33.100 who's quite right wing.
00:38:34.380 But he's something
00:38:37.000 of an anomaly here
00:38:38.020 in that
00:38:38.620 the field is winnowing.
00:38:43.220 Okay?
00:38:43.500 The field which
00:38:44.800 initially we were told
00:38:46.000 no one's going to run
00:38:46.960 for president.
00:38:48.180 Trump enters.
00:38:49.520 He's going to clear the field.
00:38:51.560 Then Trump enters
00:38:52.920 and not everyone
00:38:55.160 cleared the field.
00:38:55.820 Some people started announcing,
00:38:57.040 so then conventional wisdom said
00:38:58.200 everybody's going to run
00:39:00.060 for president.
00:39:01.000 And that was briefly true.
00:39:02.920 Everybody was talking
00:39:04.140 about running for president.
00:39:05.200 Everybody was exploring
00:39:06.280 running for president.
00:39:08.860 And then Ted Cruz said
00:39:11.740 he wasn't going to run.
00:39:13.900 And then at least
00:39:14.980 he's signaled
00:39:15.840 that he's not running.
00:39:16.660 I don't know
00:39:17.380 that he's explicitly
00:39:18.140 come out and said
00:39:18.960 I am not running
00:39:19.760 for president.
00:39:20.420 But he does not appear
00:39:21.940 to be doing the things
00:39:22.600 that a candidate
00:39:22.980 would be doing.
00:39:23.860 I'm not even playing coy
00:39:24.840 since we hosted
00:39:26.380 a show together
00:39:26.780 for three years.
00:39:28.540 It just doesn't seem
00:39:29.860 like he's running
00:39:30.500 in 2024.
00:39:31.100 Mike Pompeo came out
00:39:33.160 and explicitly said
00:39:34.400 I'm not running
00:39:34.940 in 2024
00:39:35.420 even though he had been
00:39:36.420 strongly signaling
00:39:37.260 that he would.
00:39:38.600 Mike Pence,
00:39:39.360 it remains a little bit
00:39:40.360 uncertain.
00:39:42.160 Who else?
00:39:44.180 A lot of the big guys
00:39:45.600 seem to be sitting
00:39:46.420 this one out.
00:39:48.920 Because the field
00:39:50.120 looks right now
00:39:51.720 like a two-man race,
00:39:52.860 you've got Vivek then
00:39:53.640 enters,
00:39:54.180 Nikki Haley enters,
00:39:55.260 Tim Scott enters.
00:39:56.200 maybe you get
00:39:59.120 another candidate.
00:40:00.000 Chris Christie
00:40:00.460 is making some
00:40:01.660 signals that he'll run.
00:40:03.160 Chris Sununu
00:40:03.680 is making some
00:40:04.380 signals that he'll run.
00:40:06.420 Asa Hutchinson
00:40:07.180 I guess has declared
00:40:08.000 that he's running.
00:40:08.580 People haven't talked
00:40:09.040 about that very much.
00:40:09.840 Joe Exotic of course
00:40:10.660 from Tiger King.
00:40:11.560 But in terms of the
00:40:12.280 really top polling,
00:40:14.640 top tier candidates,
00:40:15.840 seems like it might be
00:40:17.220 a more modest field
00:40:18.180 than a lot of people say.
00:40:20.320 And Larry Elder
00:40:21.120 might have a spot
00:40:21.920 on that debate stage.
00:40:24.140 Now speaking of Tucker,
00:40:25.920 Larry made that comment
00:40:27.280 on Tucker Carlson.
00:40:29.060 Tucker's gotten
00:40:29.520 in a lot of trouble
00:40:30.300 because he has
00:40:32.720 reminded people
00:40:33.320 about Ray Epps.
00:40:34.540 And we've done that
00:40:35.600 on this show
00:40:36.460 and conservatives
00:40:37.580 at at least
00:40:39.620 the real conservative
00:40:40.740 outlets have kept
00:40:41.980 bringing up this guy
00:40:42.800 Ray Epps.
00:40:43.680 You remember Ray Epps
00:40:44.380 was the one person
00:40:46.040 caught on camera
00:40:47.080 encouraging an
00:40:49.000 insurrection
00:40:49.740 on January 6th.
00:40:50.840 He said we're going
00:40:51.240 to storm the Capitol.
00:40:52.680 We're going to go in
00:40:53.100 and actually
00:40:53.740 the night before
00:40:54.600 January 6th,
00:40:55.540 I think by my calculation
00:40:56.480 that would be
00:40:56.820 January 5th,
00:40:58.120 Ray Epps was saying
00:40:58.680 we're going to go in,
00:40:59.520 we're going to storm
00:40:59.980 the Capitol,
00:41:00.500 we're going to get him.
00:41:01.060 And then all the people
00:41:01.760 around him,
00:41:02.800 all the pro-Trump
00:41:03.580 demonstrators,
00:41:04.160 they said Fed,
00:41:05.240 Fed,
00:41:06.080 Fed,
00:41:06.860 this guy's trying
00:41:07.540 to instigate something,
00:41:08.480 don't listen to him.
00:41:09.880 So we called that out
00:41:10.800 and then there was
00:41:11.280 something else
00:41:11.920 that was a little strange.
00:41:13.520 All of these
00:41:14.240 January 6th people
00:41:15.480 right down to the
00:41:16.260 little grannies
00:41:16.900 who were just going
00:41:17.580 into the Capitol rotunda,
00:41:18.940 all these guys
00:41:19.580 had been rounded up,
00:41:20.380 they've had the book
00:41:20.960 thrown at them,
00:41:21.620 some of them have been
00:41:22.440 placed in solitary confinement
00:41:23.640 and yet Ray Epps
00:41:25.400 totally is let off the hook.
00:41:28.420 Initially his photo
00:41:29.200 was up there,
00:41:29.920 go get Ray Epps
00:41:30.720 on the law enforcement
00:41:32.060 websites and then
00:41:32.660 just kind of disappeared,
00:41:34.240 doesn't look like
00:41:34.800 he was ever arrested,
00:41:36.140 he's faced no punishments.
00:41:37.480 Well now 60 Minutes
00:41:38.280 is doing a fawning
00:41:39.080 profile of him
00:41:40.100 lamenting
00:41:41.520 how people on the right,
00:41:43.440 including and especially
00:41:44.200 Tucker Carlson,
00:41:45.560 keep saying his name.
00:41:49.040 He's obsessed with me.
00:41:50.360 He's going to any means
00:41:53.120 possible to destroy
00:41:54.140 my life
00:41:54.680 and our lives.
00:41:56.220 Why?
00:41:57.920 To shift blame
00:41:59.140 on somebody else.
00:42:00.620 If you look at it,
00:42:02.380 Fox News,
00:42:03.880 Marjorie Taylor Greene,
00:42:05.840 Ted Cruz,
00:42:07.360 Gates,
00:42:07.900 they're all telling us
00:42:08.840 before this thing
00:42:09.740 that it was stolen.
00:42:11.900 So you tell me
00:42:13.320 who has more impact
00:42:15.560 on people,
00:42:16.140 them or me.
00:42:16.600 Epps,
00:42:17.940 once a loyal
00:42:18.820 Fox News watcher,
00:42:20.460 told us he doesn't
00:42:21.600 understand how
00:42:22.600 he got cast
00:42:23.600 as the villain.
00:42:24.880 The Epps version
00:42:25.800 is more mundane.
00:42:27.740 They believed
00:42:28.440 the 2020 election
00:42:29.780 had been stolen
00:42:30.560 from Donald Trump
00:42:31.540 and considered
00:42:32.600 January 6th
00:42:33.820 a legitimate protest.
00:42:35.620 It was a sloppy election
00:42:36.820 and then to top that off
00:42:38.320 you have talking heads
00:42:39.840 reporting that
00:42:41.060 there's problems
00:42:42.340 with the voting machines
00:42:43.820 and different things
00:42:44.880 like that.
00:42:45.360 The election's stolen.
00:42:47.080 So yeah,
00:42:47.620 we had concerns.
00:42:48.580 I wanted to be there.
00:42:49.820 I wanted to witness this
00:42:51.160 with my own eyes.
00:42:52.780 Okay,
00:42:53.620 so this is a case
00:42:54.620 of mistaken identity.
00:42:56.660 You guys just,
00:42:57.440 no,
00:42:57.800 I'm not a Fed.
00:42:59.160 I'm not,
00:43:00.380 I'm just a guy
00:43:01.260 who sincerely believed
00:43:02.760 this was a sloppy election
00:43:04.060 and so I just went there
00:43:05.680 and I encouraged people
00:43:07.680 to go storm the Capitol
00:43:08.660 and I was accused
00:43:09.740 of being a Fed at the time
00:43:10.580 but I kept up my charge.
00:43:11.480 I said,
00:43:11.620 no, no,
00:43:11.780 we've got to go
00:43:12.100 storm the Capitol
00:43:12.660 and then I'm
00:43:14.120 the only prominent
00:43:15.140 January 6th there
00:43:16.060 who's completely
00:43:16.580 let off the hook
00:43:17.200 and so this is awful.
00:43:19.120 I don't know why
00:43:19.540 all these conservatives
00:43:20.720 are trying to ruin my life.
00:43:21.800 Okay,
00:43:21.900 I don't know,
00:43:22.400 I don't know
00:43:22.820 whether or not
00:43:25.600 Ray Epps
00:43:26.100 has a relationship
00:43:26.880 with the federal government.
00:43:27.880 I do know
00:43:28.540 that this FBI
00:43:29.520 and this DOJ
00:43:30.460 have used
00:43:30.920 pretty nefarious means
00:43:32.680 of trying to undermine
00:43:33.720 Donald Trump
00:43:34.460 and conservatives.
00:43:35.540 I know that this FBI
00:43:36.700 and DOJ
00:43:37.540 sends spies in
00:43:39.120 to go infiltrate
00:43:40.200 Catholic churches
00:43:41.060 because some of those
00:43:42.220 conservative Catholics
00:43:43.220 they're enemies
00:43:43.920 of the regime
00:43:44.680 according to Joe Biden
00:43:45.860 so they're going to go
00:43:46.520 and they're going to try
00:43:47.000 to flip the priests
00:43:47.780 to rat on the shepherds' flocks.
00:43:50.200 Can you imagine?
00:43:51.220 I know that.
00:43:51.960 I know that the FBI
00:43:53.560 and the DOJ
00:43:54.120 were spying on Trump's campaign
00:43:55.660 in 2016
00:43:56.600 on completely bogus grounds.
00:43:59.200 I know that they did
00:44:00.400 their very best
00:44:01.260 to undermine
00:44:02.720 the duly elected
00:44:03.380 presidential administration.
00:44:04.740 I know that they do
00:44:05.320 that all the time.
00:44:06.100 So I just
00:44:08.300 my only question is
00:44:10.180 let's say that
00:44:11.920 Ray Epps
00:44:12.320 is being completely
00:44:13.420 sincere here.
00:44:14.380 He's totally telling
00:44:15.160 the truth.
00:44:17.000 Why is Ray Epps
00:44:18.380 the only
00:44:20.160 prominent guy
00:44:21.740 from January 6th
00:44:23.920 not to have been arrested?
00:44:26.860 Why is Ray Epps
00:44:28.020 the only guy
00:44:29.580 as far as I can tell
00:44:30.420 caught on camera
00:44:31.340 encouraging people
00:44:32.680 to breach the Capitol?
00:44:35.400 Why is he?
00:44:36.580 More prominent
00:44:37.480 in this regard
00:44:38.140 than the Horn Hat guy
00:44:39.080 who got the book
00:44:40.340 thrown at him.
00:44:40.920 More prominent
00:44:41.580 than the Nancy Pelosi
00:44:42.660 lectern smiley Florida guy
00:44:44.080 who got the book
00:44:44.840 thrown at him
00:44:45.320 and went to jail.
00:44:46.380 Why is Ray Epps
00:44:47.540 the most prominent
00:44:49.120 January 6th
00:44:50.080 the most vociferous
00:44:51.400 the most aggressive
00:44:52.400 in his rhetoric?
00:44:55.680 Why is he the only one
00:44:56.700 who just got
00:44:57.200 completely let off the hook
00:44:58.200 and then furthermore
00:44:59.000 why are the liberal media
00:45:01.880 producing
00:45:03.480 fawning profiles of him?
00:45:06.200 Why does he get this
00:45:07.220 fawning 60 minute special?
00:45:09.540 Why does he get
00:45:10.040 fawning coverage
00:45:10.880 in the New York Times?
00:45:12.640 Little bit
00:45:13.700 sus
00:45:14.440 to me.
00:45:16.540 Speaking of the Borg
00:45:17.820 speaking of the Matrix
00:45:19.380 we're all living in
00:45:20.140 AI
00:45:21.200 will soon
00:45:22.180 be teaching
00:45:22.820 reading
00:45:23.360 and writing
00:45:24.180 within 18 months
00:45:25.760 according to
00:45:26.360 Bill Gates.
00:45:27.000 So Bill Gates
00:45:28.640 who's one of the
00:45:29.080 more prominent voices
00:45:29.960 pushing the
00:45:31.380 liberal dystopia
00:45:33.740 that we all seem
00:45:34.260 to be hurtling toward
00:45:35.120 pushing the great reset
00:45:36.400 as some people call it.
00:45:37.880 Bill Gates predicted
00:45:38.640 that AI
00:45:39.280 will play an integral role
00:45:40.960 in the education system
00:45:41.920 within 18 months
00:45:42.980 and he's probably right.
00:45:45.380 Bill Gates says
00:45:45.920 what a good teacher does
00:45:46.800 is take your essay
00:45:47.440 and mark it up
00:45:47.980 and say oh this isn't clear
00:45:49.060 or the summary
00:45:49.540 should have included this.
00:45:50.780 This is a high
00:45:51.380 cognitive exercise
00:45:52.280 and software
00:45:52.800 except at the really
00:45:53.500 trivial kind of grammar level
00:45:54.720 has had essentially zero
00:45:56.420 ability to do this
00:45:58.280 particularly once you
00:45:59.620 get out of
00:46:00.360 a very templated
00:46:01.460 writing exercise
00:46:02.720 the amount of feedback
00:46:03.360 to help me improve
00:46:04.020 my writing is very low
00:46:04.960 but these AIs
00:46:06.040 are actually good at that
00:46:08.480 and he's right about that.
00:46:11.020 AI is a lot better
00:46:12.080 than spell check
00:46:12.720 in Microsoft Word
00:46:13.480 back in the 90s
00:46:14.340 and probably could teach you
00:46:15.820 the nuts and bolts
00:46:16.340 of writing better
00:46:16.980 than a lot of people
00:46:17.720 but what this misses
00:46:19.560 what this very pro-AI
00:46:22.200 movement misses
00:46:23.420 is that teaching
00:46:25.660 is an act of love.
00:46:28.380 Pedagogy is an act of love.
00:46:31.280 You know this
00:46:32.480 even if you didn't like
00:46:33.220 some of your teachers
00:46:33.800 probably you did like
00:46:34.840 some of your teachers.
00:46:35.680 I stay in touch to this day
00:46:37.520 with some of my teachers.
00:46:38.900 I correspond with my
00:46:40.020 kindergarten teacher
00:46:41.000 to this day.
00:46:41.820 I love my teachers
00:46:43.120 and what they taught me
00:46:45.380 was a lot more
00:46:46.080 than the nuts and bolts
00:46:46.800 of writing.
00:46:47.160 My 11th grade English teacher
00:46:48.180 taught me how to write.
00:46:49.460 Everything I ever learned
00:46:50.440 about how to write
00:46:51.080 I learned in 11th grade
00:46:52.680 English class.
00:46:54.120 But I learned many
00:46:55.240 many other things
00:46:55.860 from my teachers
00:46:56.360 because pedagogy
00:46:57.100 the act of passing along
00:46:58.320 knowledge
00:46:59.380 is an act of love
00:47:00.740 that is human
00:47:02.320 and constitutes
00:47:03.140 our culture.
00:47:04.560 And if that
00:47:05.520 is replaced
00:47:06.460 by robots
00:47:07.140 then our culture
00:47:09.660 is going to be
00:47:10.440 an increasingly
00:47:11.120 robotic
00:47:12.460 decreasingly
00:47:14.900 human
00:47:15.440 culture.
