The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 1386 - 4th Republican Debate Summarized In About 5 Mins

00:00:00.000 Last night, four Republicans who won't be the presidential nominee in 2024 faced off in Tuscaloosa.

00:00:06.500 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis opened the debate by going after Nikki Haley, 0.98

00:00:11.600 who fired back at DeSantis and attacked Vivek Ramaswamy, who brutally attacked Nikki Haley,

00:00:18.960 who was defended by Chris Christie, who most people forgot was even there.

00:00:23.720 And I am Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:00:30.000 Welcome back to the show.

00:01:01.380 Our first full-length feature comedy is the biggest launch in Daily Wire history.

00:01:05.240 It is now the number one streaming movie anywhere.

00:01:08.960 Are you not a member?

00:01:10.120 Well, lucky for you, with Coach, the code COACH, you can become a part of Daily Wire Plus

00:01:17.060 and save 50 bucks on new annual memberships.

00:01:21.160 Speaking of things to stream, I watched that whole debate last night.

00:01:25.000 Even though it is just completely pointless and will not have any practical effect,

00:01:29.340 I thought it might be somewhat entertaining.

00:01:31.280 And I suppose it could tell us, assuming they don't assassinate Donald Trump,

00:01:35.540 it could tell us who Trump could pick for a VP.

00:01:37.600 It could tell us who Trump might pick for a cabinet position if he were to be elected.

00:01:41.880 So it was worth watching.

00:01:43.240 I'm irritated at the debate for a second reason.

00:01:45.700 Second reason being, as those of you watching right now can see, I am not in my studio.

00:01:50.380 I'm on the road.

00:01:50.880 I was at Clemson last night.

00:01:52.440 But for whatever reason, they scheduled my speech at Clemson at exactly the same time

00:01:57.380 as the Republican presidential debate. 0.99

00:01:59.620 So those jerks in Tuscaloosa took views away from my speech. 0.97

00:02:02.900 But you can catch that speech on the YAF YouTube channel. 0.97

00:02:06.400 That is a speech called Kids Are Not Commodities on IVF and surrogacy,

00:02:11.620 which is a controversial issue, not just for the libs, but even among conservatives.

00:02:15.380 So you can go check that out there.

00:02:17.360 Meanwhile, I come back.

00:02:19.500 I get back to my hotel very late at night, and I watch this whole debate.

00:02:24.600 What stood out to me right from the outset was that Ron DeSantis has had enough of Nikki Haley.

00:02:33.520 Nikki Haley has been taking Ron DeSantis' prospective donors, prospective support base,

00:02:40.380 prospective campaign network in the early primary states, and he's had enough of it.

00:02:45.380 So he opens up the debate going after Nikki.

00:02:48.700 I am sick of Republicans who are not willing to stand up and fight back against what the

00:02:54.400 left is doing to this country.

00:02:56.060 You've got to be willing to stand strong, and you've got to be willing to beat these people.

00:03:00.120 I'm the only one running for president that has beaten these people on issue after issue.

00:03:05.240 We beat the teachers' unions when we did school choice.

00:03:08.160 We beat Fauci on COVID.

00:03:10.140 We beat George Soros.

00:03:11.720 And you have other candidates up here like Nikki Haley. 0.98

00:03:14.360 She caves any time the left comes after her, any time the media comes after her.

00:03:19.300 I did a bill in Florida to stop the gender mutilation of minors.

00:03:23.280 It's child abuse, and it's wrong.

00:03:25.080 She opposes that bill.

00:03:26.900 She thinks it's fine, and the law shouldn't get involved with it. 0.97

00:03:29.620 If you're not willing to stand up for the kids,

00:03:31.720 if you're not willing to stand up and say that it is wrong to mutilate these kids,

00:03:36.700 then you're not going to fight for the people back home.

00:03:39.440 I will fight for you, and I will win for you.

00:03:42.400 I thought this was a very strong answer in terms of the words that Governor DeSantis was using.

00:03:49.540 I thought this was a really strong point on the actual issue,

00:03:53.040 which is Nikki got in trouble a couple of days ago for saying she doesn't think the law has a place 1.00

00:03:57.260 in telling parents not to trans their kids.

00:03:59.240 That is a view held by a significant minority of Republicans,

00:04:03.560 especially in blue states, on the coasts, in the more, I don't know, the Wall Street set of Republicans.

00:04:10.240 But it's certainly not a view held by the base.

00:04:12.960 The base believes that we need to stop transing the kids, that it's just wrong, and we've got to cut it out.

00:04:17.440 So DeSantis, I think, articulated that view, and I do think that that happens to be the correct view.

00:04:23.000 One thing that struck me about his answer,

00:04:26.360 and I think this might be in part why Governor DeSantis is having trouble connecting,

00:04:30.820 is his answer, in the content of it, it's very strong.

00:04:35.820 I did this.

00:04:36.640 I wielded power.

00:04:37.500 I have a clear moral vision.

00:04:38.600 I'm the man.

00:04:39.220 I got it done.

00:04:39.960 I won.

00:04:40.500 All of which is true.

00:04:42.500 The tone of the answer is a little bit whiny.

00:04:46.480 The tone of the answer is, oh, and come on, and I did this, and, you know, we did, come on, I'm the only guy, and da, da, da.

00:04:52.440 And I know that shouldn't matter.

00:04:55.240 A lot of people believe we should just vote on people's records, and these little things, like even the tone of one's voice, seems so trivial.

00:05:04.260 It's a presidential debate.

00:05:05.420 And I do wonder if that, in part, is the reason why he had trouble connecting.

00:05:11.840 The nearest I've seen to this sort of problem in a presidential debate actually goes back over 10 years ago, goes back to John Huntsman, another guy, actually, I really like.

00:05:22.380 He had the same problem.

00:05:23.420 His voice was kind of a little bit, it had a tone that was almost like he was complaining, and it was a little, it was a lamentation.

00:05:32.720 Instead of, you think of a candidate like Trump, who did very well at the debates, even though sometimes the semantics of his answers were incoherent.

00:05:41.680 But he did really, really well.

00:05:43.300 One, because he's funny, he's quick on his feet.

00:05:44.920 But two, there was an ease to his rhetoric.

00:05:47.840 Yeah, look, I'm here, you're going to be locked up if I get elected.

00:05:51.300 No one even believed that, but it just sounded cool.

00:05:54.060 He sounded in command.

00:05:56.060 So I think this might help to explain why DeSantis could have all the right answers.

00:06:01.260 He could do all the right things in Florida, but he's still failing to connect.

00:06:05.420 Nikki Haley actually had quite a bit more ease on the debate stage last night. 1.00

00:06:12.540 So you had two teams.

00:06:14.140 You had DeSantis and Vivek versus Nikki and Christie, which makes sense because that means you have the more right-wing, populist side of the GOP versus the more centrist establishment side of the GOP.

00:06:29.640 So Christie, though he seems to hate Vivek Ramaswamy the most on that stage, he took his first attack to go after Ron DeSantis.

00:06:39.300 And it was very clear from the outset he was trying to relive the 2016 debates when he destroyed Marco Rubio.

00:06:46.680 We stand with Israel.

00:06:49.380 They're our best ally in the Middle East.

00:06:51.420 We have a unique relationship with them.

00:06:53.480 And you will see a strong relationship when I'm the president of the United States.

00:06:56.600 But would you send the American troops?

00:06:58.440 Elizabeth Cook, this is the problem with the first three debates. 0.81

00:07:04.140 Ron gets asked a question and he doesn't answer it.

00:07:06.740 Your question was very specific.

00:07:08.880 You said, would you send American troops as commander-in-chief?

00:07:13.600 And he went on to this minute and 30-second hosanna about his knowledge of the military and what we need to do and didn't answer your question.

00:07:22.300 Look, when you're president of the United States, you're not going to have a choice whether to answer that question or not.

00:07:27.900 Your generals, your secretary of defense, your secretary of state, your national security advisor are going to present plans to you.

00:07:33.220 They're going to look at you and say, do we go or don't we, Mr. President?

00:07:36.640 And you can't give a 90-second speech about your military service as vulnerable as it is.

00:07:40.540 So would you send American troops in to rescue those hostages?

00:07:42.580 I would absolutely, absolutely.

00:07:45.720 So I don't think it worked.

00:07:48.280 It worked in 2016.

00:07:49.980 You can't relive your past glories.

00:07:51.860 And he said, here's the canned 30-second speech from Rubio.

00:07:55.400 And then Rubio just unbelievably, unbelievably just launched into the exact same 30-second speech again.

00:08:01.700 I don't think Barack Obama doesn't know what he's doing.

00:08:03.640 I think he knows exactly what he's doing.

00:08:05.020 Hey, look at Rubio.

00:08:05.900 He sounds like a robot.

00:08:06.960 What are you talking about?

00:08:07.440 I'm not a robot.

00:08:08.360 Barack Obama knows exactly what he's doing.

00:08:09.920 Beep, beep, beep, boop. 0.98

00:08:11.000 And Christie totally killed it. 0.99

00:08:12.760 This didn't work here.

00:08:13.700 He was going after DeSantis in the same way he went after Rubio by saying this guy is stiff and he's attempting to be a slick politician.

00:08:22.940 He's attempting to evade the answers and just use his focus group remarks.

00:08:26.860 I don't think it quite worked.

00:08:28.040 What that answer tells me, though, is Christie knows he's not going to be president.

00:08:32.260 He probably always knew he was not going to be president, but politicians can delude themselves, so 50-50.

00:08:37.340 He now knows he's not going to be president.

00:08:39.400 This is the last debate before the Iowa caucuses.

00:08:41.620 This dude somehow made it throughout the whole process before the primaries and caucuses kicked off.

00:08:46.800 But he's got to pick a team now.

00:08:48.220 We're now down to four people, and Chris Christie is on team Nikki Haley.

00:08:51.900 In fact, he's so clearly on team Nikki Haley that after Vivek Ramaswamy attacked Nikki for saying that she, I don't know, she was giving some remark about the military.

00:09:06.880 And Vivek said, you're bought and paid for by the military industrial complex. 0.97

00:09:10.500 You're corrupt. 0.95

00:09:11.120 You took money from Boeing. 0.93

00:09:12.480 This was a theme that recurred throughout the night, which we'll get to in just a second.

00:09:16.640 Chris Christie comes out in white nights for Nikki Haley.

00:09:19.600 We're now 25 minutes into this debate, and he has insulted Nikki Haley's basic intelligence, not her positions, her basic intelligence.

00:09:32.880 She doesn't know regions.

00:09:34.160 She wouldn't be able to find something on a map that his three-year-old could find.

00:09:38.260 Look, if you want to disagree on issues, that's fine.

00:09:41.060 And Nikki and I disagree on some issues.

00:09:42.840 But I'll tell you this, I've known her for 12 years, which is longer than he's even started to vote in a Republican primary.

00:09:49.600 And while we disagree about some issues and we disagree about who should be president of the United States, what we don't disagree on is this is a smart, accomplished woman.

00:10:00.720 You should stop insulting her.

00:10:01.880 So I'm going to take this.

00:10:02.680 There's the white knighting.

00:10:06.060 And there's Nikki actually played it off pretty well. 1.00

00:10:08.180 Oh, thank you, Chris.

00:10:09.120 That's right.

00:10:09.500 That's right.

00:10:09.860 Go on, please.

00:10:11.200 But he's picked his side.

00:10:12.840 So those were the two sides of the debate.

00:10:14.420 Why was Christie going after Vivek?

00:10:19.040 Because moments prior, Vivek brutally attacked Nikki Haley, which we'll get to in a second.

00:10:25.600 But if you're brutally attacked, you probably need some health care.

00:11:25.740 Terms and conditions apply.

00:11:28.840 Vivek, like Ron DeSantis, has had enough of Nikki Haley.

00:11:33.280 So Vivek brutally attacks her.

00:11:36.980 Now a lot of the neocons are quietly coming along to that position, with the exceptions of Nikki Haley and Joe Biden,

00:11:43.440 who still support this, what I believe is pointless war in Ukraine.

00:11:47.720 And I think those with foreign policy experience, one thing that Joe Biden and Nikki Haley have in common,

00:11:52.360 is that neither of them could even state for you three provinces in eastern Ukraine that they want to send our troops to actually fight for.

00:11:59.860 Look at that.

00:12:01.740 This is what I want people to understand.

00:12:03.360 These people have, I mean, she has no idea what the hell the names of those provinces are,

00:12:06.880 but she wants to send our sons and daughters and our troops and our military equipment to go fight it. 1.00

00:12:11.420 So reject this myth that they've been selling you, that somebody had a cup of coffee stint at the U.N.

00:12:16.040 and then makes eight million bucks after, has real foreign policy experience.

00:12:19.600 It takes an outsider to see this through.

00:12:21.060 Look at the blank expression.

00:12:22.480 She doesn't know the names of the provinces that she wants to actually fight for.

00:12:26.820 And there's a puppet name that's right there, the donors.

00:12:30.700 This was brutal.

00:12:32.880 I saw people on both sides of Vivek reacting to this in extreme ways.

00:12:41.760 Now, I think the divide here is an age divide.

00:12:46.520 I think Zoomers love Vivek. 1.00

00:12:49.400 I think Gen X boomers don't really like Vivek, and they find him to be a little precocious, 1.00

00:12:56.280 and they find him to be a little over the top.

00:12:58.760 But you're also seeing some divide on just the two parts of the party.

00:13:04.580 The more restrained part of the GOP foreign policy base really likes Vivek, really doesn't like Nikki Haley.

00:13:15.320 The more interventionist, imperialist side of the GOP obviously just hates Vivek.

00:13:20.440 You know, he does pretty well among the Buchanan-Trump kind of set.

00:13:25.940 He obviously does not do well among the neoconservatives.

00:13:28.720 That's why he attacks the neoconservatives.

00:13:31.060 But worth pointing out, I think Mike Cernovich made this point too.

00:13:34.280 This was a very, very risky move for Vivek.

00:13:37.280 Because if he had launched this attack and then Nikki had just leaned into the microphone

00:13:43.500 and named three regions of Ukraine, he would have looked terrible. 1.00

00:13:48.720 He would have looked like a total fool. 0.98

00:13:50.720 But he took the bet that she couldn't name the regions, and she couldn't. 0.99

00:13:55.080 And I don't know, you probably can't name the regions either.

00:13:57.240 What are regions in eastern Ukraine?

00:14:00.540 Donetsk, Moscow, and Beijing?

00:14:03.060 Is that it?

00:14:03.560 I don't know.

00:14:03.980 I know those are vaguely east.

00:14:05.600 No one really knows.

00:14:06.760 Vivek does, because Vivek is a super genius.

00:14:09.180 You know, I was an undergraduate when Vivek was at the law school.

00:14:12.700 The guy has had a reputation as a sharp fella for a very, very long time.

00:14:16.500 So he nails her on this.

00:14:19.120 Tensions are rising.

00:14:19.900 It was the most tense GOP debate by far.

00:14:23.320 The moment, the only moment that anyone is going to remember is going to be between Vivek

00:14:28.980 and Nikki.

00:14:30.280 And it was another polarizing moment. 1.00

00:14:31.940 People think it was the stupidest moment of the debate. 0.99

00:14:34.120 People think it was the greatest moment of the debate. 0.99

00:14:35.820 It is where Vivek held up a pad of paper with all of his notes from the debate.

00:14:42.220 And his notes just had two words.

00:14:45.540 Two words and one sign.

00:14:47.440 She said that I have a woman problem. 1.00

00:14:50.180 Nikki, I don't have a woman problem. 1.00

00:14:52.420 You have a corruption problem.

00:14:54.440 And I think that that's what people need to know. 0.97

00:14:56.540 Nikki is corrupt. 0.99

00:14:58.440 This is a woman who will send your kids to die so she can buy a bigger house. 1.00

00:15:02.940 This is the problem.

00:15:04.400 Using identity politics more effectively than Kamala Harris is a form of intellectual fraud.

00:15:10.980 And it actually means that there's our donor puppet masters wielding their puppet right up here tonight.

00:15:16.420 This is how this game is played.

00:15:18.220 The puppet masters put up their puppet.

00:15:20.000 And I reject the use of identity politics in this party.

00:15:22.960 It has been a cancer coming from the left.

00:15:24.820 And I'm sick and tired of the double standards the people of this country are too.

00:15:28.060 Having two X chromosomes does not immunize you from criticism.

00:15:30.840 Thank you, sir.

00:15:31.540 So some people, the more clubbable, let's all get along type of Republicans, are going to look at this and say,

00:15:38.840 Oh, Vivek, come on. 0.98

00:15:40.760 This is a ridiculous stunt. 0.94

00:15:42.800 You're doing prop comedy on that stage now? 0.99

00:15:45.180 Come on.

00:15:45.960 This is so beneath the tenor of a presidential debate.

00:15:48.860 First of all, there is nothing beneath the tenor of these presidential debates. 1.00

00:15:52.240 These are the stupidest shows that have ever been put on in the history of the United States, 0.99

00:15:57.480 including every reality show of the mid-2000s, all of it. 1.00

00:16:02.580 These are pointless, stupid, nasty, shallow debates for the most part. 0.99

00:16:07.580 So I don't think that attack really works. 1.00

00:16:10.060 And even if you don't like that kind of a stunt, ask yourself.

00:16:14.000 Did it work?

00:16:18.040 Of course it worked.

00:16:18.940 It's the only thing that anyone is talking about.

00:16:21.060 Vivek, whom no one had heard of until he ran for president.

00:16:24.900 Very few people.

00:16:25.520 He had written some books.

00:16:26.360 He was somewhat known.

00:16:27.560 But very few people had heard of him.

00:16:28.960 He is now a national political figure.

00:16:32.340 He has cemented himself firmly on the conservative, populist, I guess, pro-Trump side of the GOP.

00:16:39.960 Trump is almost certainly going to be the nominee.

00:16:42.500 This guy, I don't know, this guy could be Secretary of State or something.

00:16:45.060 He's just done an excellent, excellent job in this race.

00:16:48.940 Does the attack stick?

00:16:50.340 I'm not sure that people are now going to view Nikki Haley as a Joe Biden or a Hillary Clinton,

00:16:57.660 just peddling influence around the world.

00:16:59.720 The attack was that after she left the UN position,

00:17:02.480 she took some board positions and gave some corporate speeches,

00:17:05.180 and she made a good amount of money doing it. 0.99

00:17:07.780 That's true.

00:17:08.260 A lot of politicians do that.

00:17:09.940 I'm not sure that it's the most precise attack.

00:17:13.760 But, especially we've learned from Donald Trump,

00:17:16.980 these little one-word, two-word lines kind of stick.

00:17:19.960 And the reason this has a chance of sticking

00:17:22.040 is because Nikki is at a low point among conservatives.

00:17:26.540 At other times, conservatives have liked her.

00:17:28.600 When Nikki was at the UN and she was beating all the worst people in the world,

00:17:32.660 conservatives loved her.

00:17:33.880 She's also had more moderate and centrist positions and actions in her political career 0.83

00:17:38.920 where the conservatives don't like that.

00:17:40.340 And right now, days after she said, and she's now trying to walk it back,

00:17:44.580 but days after she said that if a child wants to transition, you should let the parents do it.

00:17:51.000 The law has no role in that.

00:17:53.720 Vivek knew that Nikki is at a very, very low point among conservatives,

00:17:57.080 so he's going to pounce and try to destroy her political career.

00:18:01.020 We will see if that works.

00:18:06.060 All of this to say, not one debate has ever moved the needle on the polls in any meaningful way.

00:18:12.660 Not one campaign ad, not one speech, not one rally, not one indictment,

00:18:16.660 not one nothing has moved the needle.

00:18:18.660 In as much as the needle has moved, Trump has gained a little bit of support.

00:18:23.760 DeSantis has lost a little bit of support.

00:18:25.900 Vivek went from no name recognition to some support.

00:18:28.720 And Nikki has fluctuated a little bit.

00:18:31.140 And somehow Christie's still in the race.

00:18:32.560 But it just doesn't matter.

00:18:33.760 So the Democrats have resigned themselves to the fact that Trump is the nominee.

00:18:40.060 Maybe they wanted him to be the nominee.

00:18:41.540 Maybe they think Trump is easy to beat.

00:18:42.820 Though I'm not sure.

00:18:44.060 I'm not sure that the Democrats really believe that.

00:18:46.240 That's the line you're hearing out of the DeSantis campaign and the Haley campaign.

00:18:50.180 I'm not sure that that's true.

00:18:52.180 Because fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice.

00:18:54.280 The point is you're not going to fool me again, to quote George W. Bush.

00:18:57.040 That was their tactic in 2016.

00:18:59.580 The Democrats said, let's get Trump to be the nominee.

00:19:02.840 Bill Clinton called Donald Trump and said, you should run for president.

00:19:06.220 This was part of the Democrat strategy. 0.94

00:19:09.260 The Republicans should nominate the craziest, wackiest guy in the whole party. 0.92

00:19:12.720 And then Hillary's going to just waltz right into the White House. 1.00

00:19:15.000 And it didn't work.

00:19:15.740 So I think they're probably going to be a little more cautious this time.

00:19:20.500 And so the Democrats have a new attack on Trump.

00:19:23.240 The new attack is that Donald Trump, okay, he's going to be the nominee.

00:19:26.500 He's probably going to be the nominee.

00:19:28.620 He might get elected. 0.98

00:19:30.280 And if he is elected, he is going to be an absolute, terrible, awful dictator.

00:24:54.200 Now, turning back to the only show in America that can rival the Lady Baldur's movie in terms

00:25:04.740 of entertainment and craziness.

00:25:06.160 That would, of course, be the presidential race.

00:25:08.320 Trump's opponents, the really squished Republicans and the libs, have a new line of attack. 0.54

00:25:13.700 And that is that Donald Trump is going to be a dictator.

00:25:16.640 Robert Kagan, who's a foreign policy fixture in Washington, he said on Friday,

00:25:23.040 and this is a Washington Post editor-at-large, he said,

00:25:27.900 a Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable.

00:25:32.500 We should stop pretending.

00:25:35.460 And not increasingly likely, increasingly inevitable.

00:25:41.600 I always liked the Kagans. 1.00

00:25:44.700 Robert Kagan's father was a professor of mine, an amazing, incredible professor,

00:25:50.000 an incredible historian.

00:25:50.940 I expect more of the Kagan family than this kind of hysterical nonsense. 1.00

00:25:56.860 But he's not the only one.

00:25:57.860 This was clearly coordinated.

00:25:59.780 Ishan Tharur, the fear of a looming Trump dictatorship.

00:26:04.440 This was in the Post.

00:26:06.640 The Atlantic announced on Monday that it's going to have a special issue that warns of the grave

00:26:12.900 and extreme consequences if Trump were to win in 2024, argues that Trump and Trump is imposing

00:26:19.120 an existential threat to America and the ideas that animate it.

00:26:25.400 Couple conclusions from this.

00:26:26.960 One, the libs believe that Trump is going to be the nominee.

00:26:30.600 They were going after DeSantis for a little while.

00:26:32.600 That's over.

00:26:33.440 They have not really gone after Haley yet.

00:26:35.620 They'll see, I guess, if she can show movement in her poll numbers.

00:26:39.140 They haven't gone after Chris Christie.

00:26:40.240 They're going after Trump.

00:26:42.440 They think that Trump is the nominee.

00:26:43.620 Biden is already treating Trump as the nominee.

00:26:46.140 Trump is already treating Trump as the nominee.

00:26:47.960 Now the Washington establishment is doing that too.

00:26:50.760 The other scarier conclusion I draw from this is the purpose of this kind of language is to 0.85

00:26:59.840 justify violence against Trump.

00:27:02.500 That's what this is about.

00:27:06.160 There is no evidence that Trump is going to be a dictator.

00:27:09.160 We know that there's no evidence of this because Trump was already elected one time.

00:27:13.480 He wasn't a dictator.

00:27:14.540 In fact, I wish he had wielded power more effectively.

00:27:17.360 He did a good job.

00:27:18.380 I'm not really knocking him too much, but I wish he had done even more.

00:27:22.160 We know he's not a dictator.

00:27:23.600 We know that he won't stay in office forever because he left office voluntarily,

00:27:27.340 even after they rigged the election on him.

00:27:28.980 And there was a lot of evidence that they rigged the election.

00:27:31.140 We all saw it with our eyes.

00:27:32.900 He still left office.

00:27:34.120 So the only reason to say this guy, he's a dictator, he poses an existential,

00:27:39.120 that is to say, life or death threat to our country, is to justify violence against him.

00:27:43.980 The liberals justify violence against a whole lot of people.

00:27:46.820 They've done it for many, many years.

00:27:49.240 They say that our speech is violence.

00:27:50.840 That's why they encourage their militant wing to go attack us on campuses.

00:27:54.920 I got a very nice welcome here at Clemson last night.

00:27:57.440 When I went to Pittsburgh in the spring, Antifa militants tried to blow me up.

00:28:02.120 And why did the Antifa militants try to blow me up?

00:28:04.380 Because for years we've had mainstream Democrats say, you can't be civil with Republicans.

00:28:08.420 You've got to push back on them in public spaces.

00:28:11.060 You've got to go to their homes where the children sleep and scream and intimidate them. 0.99

00:28:15.420 And then what do you get?

00:28:16.700 Then you get the attacks.

00:28:17.580 That's what this is about.

00:28:19.320 And it's the last thing they have left to do.

00:28:21.020 They robbed Trump by rigging the election.

00:28:24.340 They robbed Trump of his administration, in some ways, by constantly trying to undercut

00:28:29.880 it with all these bogus investigations that were cooked up based on nothing, where the

00:28:33.340 FBI colluded with the Democrats and with the Hillary Clinton campaign to use fake evidence

00:28:38.400 to spy on Trump's campaign to stop him from getting elected in the first place.

00:28:41.900 He gets elected to undermine his administration and the ability to actually get things done.

00:28:46.040 And then they change all the election laws and rig the election so they can boot him out.

00:28:49.820 Then he's still coming back.

00:28:51.080 He's still popular.

00:28:51.820 So they're going to indict him a bunch of times at the local level, at the federal level.

00:28:56.180 They're going to try to put him in prison for 700 years.

00:28:58.800 And if that doesn't work, there's nothing left to do.

00:29:01.800 What are you going to, the only thing you can do is say that guy is going to be a tyrant.

00:29:05.780 He's going to seize power. 0.93

00:29:07.040 He's going to kill the country, existential threat.

00:29:10.260 And so what does that imply? 1.00

00:29:12.780 It implies that the lab should kill him first. 0.99

00:29:14.760 That's what they're after. 0.98

00:29:15.660 So is Trump going to be a dictator?

00:29:17.640 He was asked this question by Sean Hannity.

00:29:19.820 Here's the response.

00:29:20.480 To be clear, do you in any way have any plans whatsoever, if we're elected president, to abuse power, to break the law, to use the government to go after people?

00:29:34.000 You mean like they're using right now?

00:29:35.900 Under no circumstances.

00:29:37.540 You are promising America tonight.

00:29:39.740 You would never abuse power as retribution against anybody.

00:29:44.400 Except for day one.

00:29:46.100 Except for?

00:29:46.920 He's going crazy.

00:29:47.720 Except for day one.

00:29:48.620 Meaning?

00:29:48.900 I want to close the border, and I want to drill, drill, drill.

00:29:53.440 That's not retribution.

00:29:56.300 I'm going to be, I'm going to be, you know, he keeps, we love this guy.

00:30:01.580 He says, you're not going to be a dictator, are you?

00:30:03.440 I said, no, no, no.

00:30:04.820 Other than day one.

00:30:06.080 We're closing the border, and we're drilling, drilling, drilling.

00:30:09.120 After that, I'm not a dictator.

00:30:10.640 Okay?

00:30:10.720 I love all that stuff, and it's a very funny answer.

00:30:14.600 First, he says, oh, you mean like they're doing?

00:30:17.440 I mean, am I going to do all the stuff that they're doing right now?

00:30:19.860 But what he comes to, the final point that he comes to is, he says, I'm not going to be a dictator, other than on day one.

00:30:25.440 Day one, I'm going to be a dictator.

00:30:29.420 Meaning, Sean Hannity is shocked.

00:30:31.920 He's saying, no, please don't stop saying this, Donald.

00:30:33.880 He goes, no, no, no.

00:30:34.360 Day one, I'm going to be a dictator.

00:30:35.880 I'm going to build the border wall. 0.97

00:30:38.060 I'm going to fire a bunch of people. 0.90

00:30:40.300 I'm going to do this. 0.87

00:30:40.900 I'm going to do that.

00:30:41.500 And Hannity says, oh, okay.

00:30:43.040 Okay, so you're not going to be a dictator, right?

00:30:45.540 Yeah, no, other than on day one.

00:30:47.520 This answer is the 2024 version of, I don't want to live in a country that Donald Trump is president in.

00:30:56.760 And he says, yeah, because you'd be in jail.

00:30:57.960 It's that quick-witted response that people aren't taking totally seriously, but they're not not taking seriously.

00:31:04.220 I think this is a perfect answer here.

00:31:06.620 And it gets to something that's totally missing at the GOP debates right now, where everyone's just so tense.

00:31:11.980 Trump has that ease.

00:31:13.780 He goes, oh, yeah?

00:31:15.880 Yeah?

00:31:16.360 Am I going to go after my political enemies by wielding government?

00:31:20.460 You mean like they've been doing for my entire public life?

00:31:23.520 Uh, nah.

00:31:25.900 No, I don't think so.

00:31:27.020 Although, you know, one of my favorite figures is Al Capone.

00:31:29.620 He's just joking.

00:31:30.560 He's just toying with everyone here, including with Sean Hannity.

00:31:35.120 And it's very effective.

00:31:37.800 It's very effective.

00:31:39.700 You saw this especially after, I think it was the fourth indictment.

00:31:43.460 Trump comes out and he gives a press conference and he's cool as a cucumber.

00:31:46.680 Do not underestimate the importance of that quality.

00:31:51.000 At a time where everything seems so uncertain, people are so tense.

00:31:55.220 Everyone's at each other's throats.

00:31:57.180 Ease is a very, very attractive quality.

00:32:01.020 And I'm not saying that's the reason why he's 50 points up in the GOP race.

00:32:05.080 Probably that is just a structural matter of him running effectively as an incumbent this time.

00:32:10.020 And his reshaping of the Republican Party and the fact that he's been a big celebrity for 40 years.

00:32:14.980 But that ease, that puts at least his supporters at ease, that's kind of funny, that's entertaining, that's not so tense, that's not the same old script that we've seen before.

00:32:25.560 However, that can be very, very attractive.

00:32:28.940 Right now, the liberal establishment just looks very, very small.

00:32:33.000 Here's a story.

00:32:33.860 This broke two days ago.

00:32:35.500 No one's even talking about it.

00:32:36.600 I didn't even get to it on the show yesterday because it's just more of the same.

00:32:43.060 It's just more of what we've heard.

00:32:44.080 But in any other administration, at any other time, this would be absolutely shocking front page international news.

00:32:50.400 Joe Biden has been caught receiving monthly payments from Hunter Biden's shell corporations.

00:32:58.320 The shell corporations that were used to peddle American influence overseas, shake down some of the worst people in the world.

00:33:03.760 Remember, Joe Biden said, oh, you think my son, who's scooping up millions and millions of dollars from influence peddlers all around the world, you think that's evidence of my corruption?

00:33:13.080 Show me the money.

00:33:14.440 Where's the money, man?

00:33:15.720 Come on, Jack.

00:33:16.620 Listen here, corn pop.

00:33:17.740 Where'd that money? 0.74

00:33:18.360 Underneath my hairy legs?

00:33:19.520 Yeah, that's where it is.

00:33:20.300 We found the money.

00:33:21.700 James Comer, House Oversight Committee, has discovered direct monthly payments from Hunter Biden's Wasco PC business account,

00:33:29.680 which received payments from Chinese state-linked companies and other foreign nationals and companies going to Joe Biden's personal accounts.

00:33:38.940 As Comer says, this was not a payment from Hunter Biden's personal account, which that would be weird, too.

00:33:44.520 Usually, children don't give their parents money.

00:33:48.260 Certainly not when their parents are U.S. senators and vice presidents and presidents, national politicians for 50 years.

00:33:55.500 Usually, maybe if your parents fell on horror times, you'd give them some money.

00:33:59.560 Even if it were a personal account, that would be weird enough.

00:34:02.860 This is actually from Hunter's business account that received money directly from all these shady Chinese state-linked entities.

00:34:11.160 He says, Joe Biden claimed there was an absolute wall between his official government duties and his family's influence peddling schemes.

00:34:16.660 This was a lie.

00:34:18.240 They've got this guy dead to rights.

00:34:19.640 And much like the GOP presidential debate, it doesn't really matter.

00:34:25.580 It doesn't matter because there's no new information here.

00:34:30.260 There's new evidence.

00:34:32.460 There's firmer, more obvious evidence of something that we all know was already happening.

00:34:39.540 If the original Hunter Biden scandal did not jar you, did not get you to turn on Biden for his corruption, then nothing will.

00:34:50.260 When the Hunter Biden scandal broke years ago at this point, we knew that Hunter was being paid insane sums of money by Ukrainian oil companies.

00:35:01.520 He doesn't know anything about Ukraine or oil.

00:35:03.540 We knew that he was raising a ton of money out of China.

00:35:06.000 And we know Hunter is a complete degenerate who doesn't have any practical hard skills in any profession.

00:35:14.620 So, any money he's getting is obviously just because of his last name.

00:35:19.140 And we know that Joe Biden's brother does the same thing.

00:35:23.880 We know that Joe Biden's other brother does the same thing.

00:35:26.100 We know that Joe Biden said he never talked to Hunter about his business.

00:35:28.900 We then heard Hunter admit that he talked to Joe Biden about his business.

00:35:31.880 And then we saw on Hunter Biden's laptop that he actually not only talked to Joe about the business, but talked about how he gave Joe a bunch of money.

00:35:37.900 If you were not persuaded by that, then you're going to support Joe.

00:35:42.160 And why are Democrats supporting Joe right now?

00:35:43.940 Because they think he's an upstanding, public-minded guy?

00:35:46.080 No.

00:35:47.080 They're doing it because he's the representative of their team.

00:35:50.400 And they think that the other guy's corrupt.

00:35:52.060 I don't think Trump is really corrupt.

00:35:53.400 By the standards of a guy who worked in New York real estate in the 80s, I think he's clean as a whistle.

00:35:58.540 Compared to Biden and the Clintons, I think he's clean as a whistle. 0.90

00:36:01.780 But the liberals think that Trump is corrupt.

00:36:04.960 And so, now you've got a battle between two sides, both of which are speaking quite openly about corruption.

00:36:12.960 This is what marks the decay of a regime.

00:36:18.040 It's not so much ideological.

00:36:20.060 We focus on the ideological part.

00:36:22.140 And that matters, too.

00:36:23.020 The fact that our governing ideology now is deeply anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-truth.

00:36:30.140 It denies basic biological realities.

00:36:33.140 You know, we talk about the critical race theory in the schools and the gender ideology in the schools.

00:36:37.280 And this is the real decay of the American regime.

00:36:41.140 Yeah, that's a big part of it.

00:36:42.500 But actually, for all of history, going back to great observers of these phenomena like Polybius, the real marker of a regime decaying is the turn away from public interest to private interest.

00:36:58.620 This is the difference between a monarchy and a tyranny.

00:37:02.020 Monarchy is concerned with the common good.

00:37:03.720 Tyranny is concerned with enriching the ruler.

00:37:06.480 It's the difference between an aristocracy and an oligarchy.

00:37:08.580 It's the difference between even a democracy, a republic such as perhaps we once had, and mob rule.

00:37:15.160 One governs according to virtue for the common good.

00:37:19.020 One just seeks to enrich itself.

00:37:21.840 And that's where we are.

00:37:22.540 We have open public corruption at the very highest levels of government.

00:37:29.540 And the clearest marker there for the decay of the regime is that the American people just shrug their shoulders.

00:37:37.960 Yeah, more of the same.

00:37:39.540 Doesn't look good.

00:39:00.140 My favorite comment yesterday is from Batman for president in 9655, who says,

00:39:05.200 Calling Ibram X. Kendi a real professor is like calling the professor from Gilligan's Island a real professor.

00:39:12.100 Oh, it's even worse than that.

00:39:13.440 Calling Ibram X. Kendi, Ibram X. Kendi, is like calling the actor from Gilligan's Island a real professor.

00:39:20.800 That's not his name.

00:39:23.300 His name is Henry Rogers, but Henry Rogers sounds too white.

00:39:27.280 So he started to go by Ibram.

00:39:29.980 And then when he got married, he and his wife, who also had a totally normal sounding name,

00:39:35.280 they decided to just make up a new name.

00:39:37.980 So the Ibram X. Kendi identity is a role.

00:39:42.660 It's a role to be played.

00:39:45.240 And it's very effective.

00:39:46.740 It's made him a lot of money.

00:39:47.480 It's a very lucrative part to play while you go out there and do a little soft shoe for the liberal elite

00:39:52.460 and make millions and millions of dollars doing it.

00:39:54.640 They gave this guy, who has absolutely no business at a university,

00:39:58.180 they gave him his own center, his own institute, the Center for Anti-Racist Research,

00:40:03.460 which is finally being investigated because it was completely bogus.

00:40:06.800 You want to talk about Al Capone.

00:40:08.200 It was nothing other than a sinecure for Ibram Kendi and a little line for his resume

00:40:13.520 so that he could go on TV and with his fictional name and his fictional credentials,

00:40:19.620 go on and give a fictional account of race relations and history.

00:40:25.640 Unfortunately, right now, Republicans are too weak to pose a serious threat to Joe Biden.

00:40:32.240 We have a great Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.

00:40:34.840 Really like him.

00:40:35.440 Rock-ribbed conservative guy.

00:40:36.500 We have, I guess, a majority on the Supreme Court, kind of.

00:40:42.020 Court's a little different.

00:40:44.360 But I don't even know how long we're going to have the Republican Speaker in the House

00:40:47.760 because Kevin McCarthy, former Speaker, ousted unceremoniously by Matt Gaetz,

00:40:53.080 has decided he's going to leave Congress by the end of the year.

00:40:56.100 Fair enough.

00:40:56.760 I mean, if you're ousted by your own conference in this brutal, historic way,

00:41:00.880 yeah, you're probably going to get out of Dodge.

00:41:03.140 You're not going to go back to being a backbencher congressman.

00:41:05.400 This guy's been in leadership for like over 10 years.

00:41:08.060 So he's gone.

00:41:09.680 That means that our five Republican majority, is it four or five Republican majority?

00:41:14.660 Now it's down.

00:41:17.400 Then you got George Santos being expelled from Congress, and a lot of Republicans voted for it.

00:41:24.220 Look, I think Santos is probably guilty of all the stuff they're accusing him of.

00:41:28.040 I think it's very serious crimes that Dante puts in the very pit of hell.

00:41:31.400 I don't think he should run for re-election.

00:41:33.280 He said he wouldn't run for re-election.

00:41:34.400 I probably would not have voted to expel him.

00:41:37.940 Over what?

00:41:38.600 The crimes that the guy committed, I think, are really, really bad.

00:41:41.240 Democrats do the same stuff, in some ways, in a more egregious way.

00:41:45.160 They knock George Santos for lying about his ethnic background, for saying that he had a Jewish grandma,

00:41:51.340 which maybe he did.

00:41:52.040 No one really knows.

00:41:52.640 Meanwhile, Elizabeth Warren becomes a Harvard professor by pretending to be Native American,

00:41:58.460 and then she finds out she's one 10,000th, one 50 billionth Cherokee or something,

00:42:03.360 and she touts this as evidence that she actually is Native American.

00:42:06.000 All right, get rid of Warren.

00:42:12.660 Get rid of Bob Menendez.

00:42:14.180 You want to talk about corruption?

00:42:15.180 Bob Menendez is engaged in way more corruption than George Santos, at least at a much higher scale.

00:42:18.980 So I wouldn't have voted to expel him.

00:42:20.700 And the reason for that is, now you've got a five-vote majority.

00:42:23.260 Okay, you lose McCarthy.

00:42:26.220 You lose Santos.

00:42:28.360 Yikes, we're at a three-vote majority.

00:42:29.880 Uh-oh, Bill Johnson.

00:42:31.280 Republican Bill Johnson is also leaving to become a college president.

00:42:34.660 Boop, okay, now we're down to a two-vote majority. 0.82

00:42:36.760 How much longer are we going to have that?

00:42:38.640 By the way, Patrick McHenry, the guy who was the acting temporary speaker,

00:42:42.300 he's not running for re-election next year.

00:42:44.180 Boop, okay, uh-oh, yikes, man.

00:42:46.040 We're really, are Republicans going to be able to hold on to any power at all?

00:42:51.160 Doesn't seem very clear to me.

00:42:52.860 Now, speaking of Congress, there was a scene that took place in Congress this week

00:42:58.600 that even with my low opinion of Ivy League administrators

00:43:02.780 exceeded even my lowest expectations.

00:43:10.080 This would be the scene in which Ivy League university presidents

00:43:15.520 hemmed and hawed over whether calling for the genocide of the Jews

00:43:22.000 explicitly constitutes harassment.

00:43:26.020 At Penn, does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Penn's rules or code of conduct?

00:43:32.920 Yes or no?

00:43:37.000 If the speech turns into conduct, it can be harassment.

00:43:40.560 Yes.

00:43:40.780 I am asking, specifically calling for the genocide of Jews, does that constitute bullying or harassment?

00:43:49.740 If it is directed and severe or pervasive, it is harassment.

00:43:53.880 So the answer is yes.

00:43:55.040 It is a context-dependent decision, Congresswoman.

00:43:58.520 It's a context-dependent decision.

00:44:00.460 That's your testimony today.

00:44:01.740 Calling for the genocide of Jews is depending upon the context.

00:44:05.500 That is not bullying or harassment.

00:44:07.380 This is the easiest question to answer yes, Ms. McGill.

00:44:13.720 So is your testimony that you will not answer yes?

00:44:17.100 If it is, if the speech becomes conduct, it can be harassment.

00:44:24.180 Yes.

00:44:24.480 Conduct meaning committing the act of genocide?

00:44:27.340 Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Harvard's rules of bullying and harassment?

00:44:32.120 Yes or no?

00:44:33.780 It can be, depending on the context.

00:44:36.920 Oh, no.

00:44:38.640 You've got, this is the lie.

00:44:39.840 It's not even just the lady from Penn.

00:44:42.500 It's multiple university presidents.

00:44:46.040 You've got multiple representatives of the Ivy League here.

00:44:49.420 They say, well, you know, what's genocide?

00:44:53.020 One man's genocide is another man's freedom fighter, right?

00:44:55.400 I guess that's sort of what they're implying.

00:44:57.720 I'm all for nuance.

00:44:59.240 I'm truly all for nuance.

00:45:00.520 And I'm all for protecting a wide range of debate at universities.

00:45:07.960 I do actually like that.

00:45:10.040 But what we're seeing here, the reason these university presidents can't answer this is

00:45:16.020 not because they hate the Jews.

00:45:17.460 I don't know.

00:45:17.640 Maybe they do hate the Jews, but maybe they don't. 0.87

00:45:19.500 I don't think that's what is motivating their answer.

00:45:22.380 What we're seeing here is not just that they're trapped by their students, which they are.

00:45:28.360 They're very afraid of upsetting the students because the students run the show now at the

00:45:31.600 universities.

00:45:33.340 What they're trapped by primarily is their own free speech rhetoric.

00:45:39.140 That's the thing.

00:45:40.740 And if it were a different issue being discussed here, the Republicans would be on their side

00:45:44.480 because they're saying, look, we don't, you can say whatever you want to the university

00:45:51.160 and we support free speech.

00:45:53.960 Now, we know that that's bogus.

00:45:55.700 That's the problem here.

00:45:56.600 If they actually held to that rule, I would give them credit.

00:46:00.300 I'm not sure I would agree with them.

00:46:01.400 I actually wrote a whole book about how I disagree with free speech absolutism

00:46:04.080 called Speechless Controlling Words, Controlling Minds.

00:46:06.200 Do I have a bell on the road?

00:46:07.780 Is there a bell here?

00:46:08.640 Do I have a bell here?

00:46:12.640 No.

00:46:13.400 Okay.

00:46:13.920 All right.

00:46:14.220 That's fine.

00:46:14.740 We'll have to bring a bell on the road next time.

00:46:18.660 They are saying that we don't, unless you actually commit the action of genocide, that

00:46:27.000 would not violate our policy.

00:46:28.220 And then they kind of knew that was too extreme.

00:46:29.700 So they're kind of walking it back.

00:46:30.940 And the reason they're trying to protect free speech here is because they know that the

00:46:35.220 university students are very pro-Palestine and anti-Israel.

00:46:38.240 So they want to suck up to them a little bit as well. 0.93

00:46:42.960 We also know that they hate conservative speakers on campus. 0.58

00:46:46.440 In fact, I'm not going to say which one.

00:46:48.920 One of the people who was at this hearing, I was invited to this school this semester,

00:46:53.840 and then the administration threw up a ton of roadblocks because they don't want me,

00:46:56.680 a completely mainstream conservative, an ordinary American conservative who just articulates

00:47:03.340 views that were almost universally held for almost all of history, and especially in our

00:47:08.620 country.

00:47:10.100 They throw up roadblocks to that. 0.99

00:47:11.620 But if I go out and say, hey, from the land to the sea, kill all the Jews, then this, well, 0.99

00:47:15.960 actually, look, it's context dependent, you know, and actually we need to protect the 0.99

00:47:19.940 right to say that.

00:47:20.820 I want to give them as much credit as I possibly can.

00:47:24.540 If they seriously have bought their own rhetoric on free speech, if they seriously believe

00:47:33.180 that a university, an educational institution, is not entitled to have standards and norms

00:47:38.820 and to distinguish between truth and falsehood and good and bad, then they have no business

00:47:44.320 running a university.

00:47:45.320 And two, they violated one of the biggest rules, one of the most important things you

00:47:49.300 never teach a child, which is never believe your own press releases.

00:47:53.080 The liberals in the 60s who ran the free speech movement, they didn't really believe that.

00:47:56.940 They just wanted to destroy conservative norms and standards and articulate their subversive

00:48:03.720 ideas.

00:48:05.100 But the moment that they were able to do that and crack up the old conservative standards,

00:48:08.300 what did they do?
