Summary

Mary Margaret Olihan is at the Supreme Court for the biggest transgender case in American history. She's joined by the Daily Wire's own Mary Margaret O'Donnell to discuss the case, which centers around Tennessee's law banning the use of gender reassignment surgery on minors.

00:02:12.860 Mary Margaret, thank you for taking a little time out to join the show.
00:02:16.980 Thanks so much for having me.
00:02:18.740 So, Mary Margaret, the case is U.S. versus Scrimetti.
00:02:22.520 Mr. Scrimetti is the Attorney General of our state here of Tennessee.
00:02:27.480 This is the big transgender case.
00:02:30.500 We've already had one pretty big transgender case.
00:02:32.680 That was the Bostock decision when Neil Gorsuch, the conservative judge, squished,
00:02:37.300 sided with the libs, and wrote transgenderism into Title VII of our civil rights law,
00:02:41.640 which was deeply unfortunate.
00:02:43.520 Now, there's a big question over child mutilation.
00:02:46.820 This is an issue that Matt Walsh has been a big leader on.
00:02:49.020 DAILYWIRE has been a big leader on.
00:02:50.540 It's all coming down to this case.
00:02:53.240 Oral arguments are being heard today.
00:02:55.440 What's going on?
00:02:56.880 Yeah, so this is a case, like you said, Michael, dealing with Tennessee's law banning transgender
00:03:01.680 interventions for kids.
00:03:03.320 And we know those are surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormones that the left likes to call gender
00:03:07.940 affirming care.
00:03:09.180 Their euphemism to hide what we're actually talking about.
00:03:11.840 And the Biden administration and the ACLU sued over this law, which is how we ended up here.
00:03:17.280 But I think it's worth pointing out, too, this case ended up here partially because of Matt
00:03:22.020 Walsh's investigation into Vanderbilt Medical Center and the procedures that they were performing
00:03:27.640 on children there.
00:03:29.240 So this is a case, obviously, that we at the Daily Wire care so much about.
00:03:32.900 And we're expecting to hear the justices hear the oral arguments on this.
00:03:37.860 We're going to see a trans-identifying lawyer arguing on behalf of the ACLU before the court,
00:03:43.580 which is not something we've seen before.
00:03:45.500 So I'm personally interested in seeing how the justices refer to this woman who identifies
00:03:50.040 as a man.
00:03:51.320 But a monumental historic day in which the court's going to decide whether to uphold this law protecting
00:03:57.080 kids.
00:03:57.520 And from what I'm hearing on the ground, people are saying that they will.
00:04:01.500 That fact that you just mentioned is one of the more bizarre aspects of an already bizarre
00:04:05.480 case.
00:04:06.120 And I think people haven't paid enough attention to it.
00:04:08.660 A transvestite is going to be the lawyer arguing the case.
00:04:12.780 Usually, to practice law, you have to demonstrate that you are in command of your rational faculties.
00:04:18.180 If you are a man who thinks that he's a woman or a woman who thinks that she's a man, you're
00:04:22.160 not.
00:04:22.580 You're obviously suffering from some major defect of your perception.
00:04:25.560 So that fact alone is bizarre.
00:04:27.520 I can't help but notice, though, you mentioned it's a woman who identifies as a man.
00:04:34.040 Nothing is by accident when it comes to Supreme Court litigation.
00:04:37.940 Do you think that the pro-trans side here picked this woman as the most sympathetic sort
00:04:44.480 of character to make the case?
00:04:45.980 It's quite possible.
00:04:47.400 I mean, I've heard a lot of different rumors and speculation surrounding this lawyer.
00:04:51.340 For example, one conservative commentator who I really respect, Lior Sapir, said that he has
00:04:59.060 sources telling him that the ACLU actually is very frustrated with this woman, Chase Strangio,
00:05:05.180 because Chase Strangio is more interested in promoting transgender, quote-unquote, rights
00:05:11.040 than she is in promoting gay rights.
00:05:13.380 So there's a lot of tension here when it comes to the ACLU and this individual.
00:05:18.400 But, you know, I've reached out to this person for comment on a number of occasions, this woman.
00:05:23.480 We just published a story at the Daily Wire yesterday, actually, on Chase Strangio and how
00:05:28.900 this is this supposedly historic moment.
00:05:31.920 And, you know, Carrie Saverino at the Judicial Crisis Network, she told me that she thinks the ACLU
00:05:37.500 knows that the merits of their arguments are not very strong.
00:05:40.960 So they're focusing on, quote-unquote, historic firsts in order to distract from that.
00:05:46.560 Well, I wonder how strong the case will need to be because I think a lot of conservatives are going to say,
00:05:53.060 oh, good, we have a conservative Supreme Court.
00:05:55.320 We have a six-vote majority.
00:05:58.340 But, you know, Roberts is a little squishy.
00:05:59.740 But then I have to remember, it was Gorsuch who gave us the Bostock case.
00:06:03.840 So what are the odds that the conservatives hold firm?
00:06:07.180 I mean, when I ask the legal experts that, they always say, well, we can't predict what
00:06:11.740 the justices are going to say.
00:06:13.360 And I would have to err on that side as well.
00:06:15.940 But an interesting fact I would like to note, Michael, is that all of the liberal media outlets,
00:06:20.420 when they're covering this and they're trying to guesstimate exactly what you just said,
00:06:24.240 they all point to the last election.
00:06:26.140 And they say the backdrop of all of this is that many Americans came out to vote for Trump
00:06:31.300 on the transgender culture war messaging, which Trump leaned into.
00:06:34.640 And, of course, we talked about this extensively, you know, how Trump really focused so much money
00:06:39.200 and time on these ads exposing the left's radical extremism when it comes to transgenderism.
00:06:45.220 And so a lot of these liberal media outlets point to this fact and they say, this is the
00:06:49.580 backdrop, so it's not looking good.
00:06:51.940 I think their suggestion is that the justices will be influenced by this.
00:06:55.580 And I guess that remains to be seen.
00:06:57.980 The justices look at the opinion polls.
00:07:00.180 There's no question about it.
00:07:01.520 Every year that goes by, I have a little bit more of a jaded take on the Supreme Court.
00:07:06.100 The building right behind you is that big, magnificent court building.
00:07:09.560 It's supposed to be a temple of justice.
00:07:11.180 That's why the buildings are constructed in that way.
00:07:13.360 But it does seem as though quotidian politics really affects these things.
00:07:18.320 And I think the best predictor of how the judges are going to vote is public opinion.
00:07:22.460 You saw this even after 50 years almost of Roe v. Wade being on the books.
00:07:27.700 Finally, opinion had not that people had become suddenly overwhelmingly pro-life,
00:07:32.100 but everyone seemed to recognize, most people at least, that the Roe v. Wade logic was illogic, actually.
00:07:38.400 And so finally that went away.
00:07:39.600 I think on this issue, this trans issue is a winning issue for conservatives.
00:07:44.840 The vast majority of people know that men can't become women.
00:07:47.620 And even if they're willing to play along for whatever reason, the overwhelming majority of people really don't want to castrate kids to accommodate the fantasies of perverts and utopians.
00:07:56.820 So I feel pretty good about it going in, but obviously we haven't heard the oral arguments yet.
00:08:02.940 Exactly.
00:08:03.680 And you're so right, Michael, in that most Americans are so averse to this topic in general.
00:08:09.400 You know, it gets people going like nothing else.
00:08:11.680 I'll have Uber drivers who don't want to identify as Republican, but then this topic comes up and they just get so upset and irate.
00:08:19.380 I have a colleague who told me that her father never cares about politics, but he was motivated to go to the polls specifically because of this issue.
00:08:28.380 And of course, we already know from kind of the postmortem of the election how many Americans were so motivated to vote for Trump based on this issue alone.
00:08:36.280 So it really is the sleeper issue of 2024.
00:08:41.060 And I think that more and more Americans are waking up to the craziness of this issue because at the end of the day, and this is what we wrote in our story yesterday about Chase Strangio.
00:08:50.320 At the end of the day, this is a lawyer, a woman who identifies as a man going to the United States Supreme Court and saying, I think that kids should be allowed to transition.
00:09:00.920 And I'm willing to tell the entire world that and stake my reputation on it as someone who has removed my own breasts and undergone surgery and hormones myself.
00:09:10.880 And just that alone is one of the most wild things that you could possibly say.
00:09:15.180 And it's become semi-commonplace in our culture.
00:09:18.060 So, you know, all of that is to say this is a very unusual circumstances that we've been told is common and is normal.
00:09:27.260 We've been told that we should love it and embrace it.
00:09:29.080 And the American people have really pushed back on that.
00:09:31.600 Yeah, I am cautiously optimistic.
00:09:34.360 I'm hopeful.
00:09:35.520 So we'll be checking back in, obviously.
00:09:37.940 But Mary Margaret, please stay safe out there with all those lunatics who want to gild kids.
00:09:44.220 We will.
00:09:45.940 See you next time.
00:09:46.680 Speaking of lunatics, Britney Spears says that she's going to move to Mexico and she claims that she is five years old.
00:09:55.320 I'm not really sure why the paparazzi have me going on a plane looking like I'm wearing a Jason mask.
00:10:03.020 It doesn't even look like me.
00:10:04.460 I don't know why I have a torch in my hand, honestly.
00:10:07.980 I think my friend accidentally gave that to me.
00:10:09.960 But anyways, it's my birthday.
00:10:13.120 I'm not turning 42.
00:10:14.580 I'm turning five this year.
00:10:16.920 I'm turning five years old.
00:10:18.640 And I have to go to kindergarten tomorrow.
00:10:23.880 That was just one of many Instagram posts that Britney Spears has been making in recent days.
00:10:30.420 I guess she's been making them for months at this point.
00:10:32.720 But she's gone on a flurry of them, this time to say that she's five years old and moving to Mexico.
00:10:38.180 Just to tie this back in with the story we were just mentioning, there is no difference between Britney Spears saying that she is five years old and a man saying that he's a woman.
00:10:49.780 There's no difference whatsoever.
00:10:51.620 One is not less plausible than the other.
00:10:54.100 It is equal lunacy.
00:10:55.360 And most people can look at Britney Spears and say that she's obviously got to screw loose and in deep need of psychiatric and maybe spiritual care.
00:11:04.220 I think most people know that about the transvestites, too.
00:11:06.920 They're just afraid to say it for fear of being canceled because our pervert political elite insists on this ideology as the logical conclusion of their rather illogical first principles, which is that they have to maximize individual autonomy and independence.
00:11:22.060 But it's all completely nuts.
00:11:23.360 And Britney Spears is obviously completely nuts.
00:11:25.900 And so then it raises another question about independence and autonomy, namely, should we really have freed Britney?
00:11:33.280 Two, three years ago, there was this campaign, Free Britney, that Britney had been under a conservatorship.
00:11:38.540 Her father was running it.
00:11:40.060 She was being prevented from spending her money as she wished or traveling as she wished.
00:11:43.580 And so there was a big campaign cheered on by leftists and many libertarians to free Britney.
00:11:50.840 Were you sure that was a good idea?
00:11:52.180 Yeah, she was freed.
00:11:53.220 She was freed from her conservatorship.
00:11:54.740 But she doesn't seem like she's flourishing.
00:11:56.820 She doesn't really even seem all that free.
00:11:59.740 That is the freedom of liberalism, though.
00:12:02.100 The freedom of liberalism is it's the freedom of the people who castrate themselves.
00:12:05.540 It's the freedom of the people who say that they're five years old, even though they're 42.
00:12:09.660 It's the freedom of people who are destroying their lives.
00:12:13.060 It's a freedom that's divorced from reason and reality.
00:12:17.560 But that's not true freedom at all.
00:12:19.120 That's actually a kind of a slavery.
00:12:21.440 Maybe we shouldn't have freed her.
00:12:23.400 Maybe the way to actually encourage her to make use of her freedom is to put some restrictions on her behavior so she doesn't destroy herself.
00:12:31.820 And maybe that would apply to other confused people in our society, too.
00:12:34.980 Maybe people who are suffering from obvious severe mental illness or psychological or spiritual confusion, maybe they need to be educated and corrected so that they can actually be truly free.
00:12:48.860 Just a thought that may or may not pertain to the case of the Supreme Court today.
00:12:53.440 Speaking of liberal women, speaking of women, rather, with a screw loose, we turn to a prominent liberal woman, Taylor Lorenz, who wants people to wear masks on airplanes five years after COVID.
00:13:09.300 Taylor Lorenz, pretty prominent left-wing journalist who gets into all sorts of fights with right-wing journalists.
00:13:15.400 She writes, quote,
00:13:17.800 Planning a COVID-safe book launch took months and thousands of my own dollars, ensuring testing, outdoor space, far-UV lights, and a litany of other precautions.
00:13:30.460 Meanwhile, you dumb F-U-C-K-S are out raw-dogging the air and spewing your disease-laden breath all over our elderly neighbors.
00:13:39.940 We are not the same.
00:13:40.900 One almost thinks that this woman might be a conservative performance artist, but I think she's earnest.
00:13:47.300 And then she writes,
00:13:48.060 The pandemic is ongoing.
00:13:50.100 Wear a mask and stop harassing disabled people.
00:13:54.540 There's so much more to say.
00:13:55.500 First, though, go to hometitlelock.com.
00:13:58.040 Use promo code Knowles.
00:13:59.400 If you are a homeowner like me, when is the last time you checked on the title to your home?
00:14:03.660 That is the legal document that shows that you own it.
00:14:06.360 If the answer is never, you need to know about a fast-growing crime the FBI calls house stealing.
00:14:10.700 I was recently shown how easy this scam is to pull off, and I'll tell you, it's shocking.
00:14:14.880 The one document, one-page document, that is called a quit-claim deed.
00:14:19.140 Criminals are forging these documents by filling them out with your information, signing it with a fake signature, stamping it with a notary seal that you can get online for $20, and then filing them with county officials.
00:14:28.440 And that's it.
00:14:28.880 That's all it takes for your home to be transferred out of your name without your knowledge.
00:14:33.040 Here's the thing.
00:14:34.400 Scammers don't want your house.
00:14:36.080 They want the equity in your house.
00:14:37.680 So they take out loans using your home as collateral, then they disappear, leaving you with a financial and legal nightmare.
00:14:43.340 You can protect yourself from this truly despicable fraud right now with triple lock protection from home title lock.
00:14:49.980 The first step is to check on your home's title to make sure that you are not already a victim.
00:14:53.960 You can get a free title history report and a 30-day free trial of triple lock protection today by going to hometitlelock.com using promo code NOLS, K-N-W-L-E-S, or clicking on the link in the description.
00:15:06.460 That is hometitlelock.com, promo code NOLS.
00:15:08.280 Do not wait until it's too late.
00:15:11.020 Five years after COVID, Taylor Lorenz insists you have to wear that mask.
00:15:15.080 Why won't you just wear the mask on the plane?
00:15:18.160 The pandemic is ongoing.
00:15:19.660 The pandemic is always ongoing.
00:15:21.280 If you breathe, we're all going to die.
00:15:23.960 Why is this?
00:15:25.200 Simple answer.
00:15:26.480 The left is neurotic.
00:15:28.820 The left is more neurotic than the right by a lot.
00:15:31.280 It's not even close.
00:15:32.180 And you don't need to take my word for it.
00:15:34.000 There are many scientific sources that attest to this fact, up to and including Columbia University, which wrote,
00:15:40.020 American adults who identify as politically liberal have long reported lower levels of happiness and psychological well-being than conservatives, a trend that mental health experts suspect is at least partly explained by liberals' tendency to spend more time worrying about stress-inducing topics like racial justice, income inequality, gun violence, and climate change.
00:15:59.580 All manner of topics that they're worried about.
00:16:02.900 But let's just go to that last one, the big one, climate change.
00:16:06.260 What does that mean?
00:16:07.040 It means they're terrified of death.
00:16:09.420 Gun violence, they're terrified of death.
00:16:12.920 The COVID, they're terrified of death.
00:16:15.000 And there's an irony about this.
00:16:18.760 But it shouldn't be ironic.
00:16:19.800 I actually think it perfectly explains why the left is so neurotic.
00:16:23.820 The left is neurotic.
00:16:26.980 The left is constantly worried about death because they refuse to think about death.
00:16:32.940 Think of your liberal friends and relatives.
00:16:34.440 I can think of mine.
00:16:35.860 They never want to talk about death.
00:16:37.560 They never want to think about it.
00:16:38.660 They want to put it off as much as they can.
00:16:40.680 I think about death every day.
00:16:42.500 That is not an exaggeration.
00:16:43.700 We're in the season of Advent right now.
00:16:45.760 The four weeks of Advent are marked by the contemplation of death, judgment, heaven, and hell.
00:16:51.560 The four final things.
00:16:52.720 I think about it a lot.
00:16:54.360 I think about it when I write my will.
00:16:56.040 I think about it when I try to preserve my soul and when I confess my sins to restore my soul to a state of grace.
00:17:01.920 I think about it.
00:17:02.800 I think about what's going to happen.
00:17:05.100 And I'm not neurotic.
00:17:06.720 I'm one of the least neurotic people I know.
00:17:08.940 And that's in line with observations of many conservatives.
00:17:14.180 My priest friend, Father George Rutler, brilliant man and writer, put this well in an Advent essay that I was recently reading.
00:17:22.900 He was writing on the four mysteries, death, judgment, heaven, and hell.
00:17:26.800 He wrote, God created us for glory, and that is why people become quietly frustrated when they have ignored these great mysteries.
00:17:34.400 Angst is the neurosis we suffer when we are not listening to the voice of Christ.
00:17:38.660 I think that totally sums it up.
00:17:40.140 It gets down to he who will have his life must lose it.
00:17:47.440 You know, there are these kinds of paradoxes.
00:17:49.120 If you try to preserve your life by wearing ten more face masks and by sacrificing your sacrifices to the sun god of climate change and by whatever, you know, injecting yourself with some nonsense so you can live another five years, you're going to lose eventually.
00:18:05.020 You're just, you're going to die.
00:18:06.160 And there's no escaping that fact in the order of nature.
00:18:09.800 So it's going to give you a great deal of angst and neurosis and anxiety because you know you're going to, this is, this is something that is on the mind of man from the moment that we become reasonable and conscious.
00:18:20.680 So you can't escape that.
00:18:22.000 You can either face the problem head on and come to reasonable conclusions about it, happy or sad, whatever conclusions you come to.
00:18:29.540 But the short answer is that there is a happy conclusion available to you.
00:18:32.720 That's the good news.
00:18:33.360 Or you can just pretend the problem doesn't exist and it's just going to eat at you and you're going to do crazier and crazier things like wear masks on an airplane five years after the pandemic or, you know, spend your nights awake in cold sweats because you're so worried about climate change.
00:18:50.480 Speaking of places that require people to wear masks on airplanes, South Korea has declared martial law.
00:18:57.280 South Korea, first time since 1980, has declared martial law.
00:19:04.240 The president of South Korea has done it.
00:19:09.140 The parliament, which has a ton of libs in it, has opposed it.
00:19:14.000 Wu Won-sik, a member of the opposition Liberal Democratic Party, said the people should rest easy.
00:19:20.600 The National Assembly will defend democracy with the people.
00:19:23.600 However, the president of South Korea has said that there is clear anti-state behavior aimed at inciting rebellion and it's paralyzed state affairs and turned the National Assembly into a den of criminals.
00:19:34.940 And he said that these libs are colluding with the North Koreans, with the communists, who are really just a vassal state of China, the Chinese communists.
00:19:43.500 And he's not going to put up with it.
00:19:45.100 So the president of South Korea said that he will eliminate the anti-state forces and restore the country to normalcy as quickly as possible.
00:19:55.060 On top of that, Reuters is reporting that, quote, strikes, work stoppages, and rallies that incite social chaos are also prohibited.
00:20:03.280 Doctors have now famously engaged in a walkout from work.
00:20:07.100 And the president has ordered them to return to their job within 48 hours.
00:20:10.780 Kind of reminds me of Ronald Reagan ordering the air traffic controllers to return to their jobs in 48 hours or they'd lose their jobs.
00:20:17.860 The current president of North Korea is a conservative guy.
00:20:20.940 He's a right-wing guy.
00:20:22.160 His predecessor was a left-winger.
00:20:24.240 And so this opposition from the liberal progressive Democrats has been intense.
00:20:30.260 Kind of reminds us what happens when a conservative takes over in America and the liberal Democrats gin up all sorts of anti-state forces to try to shut down the country and to try to make deals with our enemies.
00:20:44.400 Why do we care about this?
00:20:45.560 Why do I care about South Korea?
00:20:46.820 I'm an American.
00:20:47.660 It's far away.
00:20:48.380 It's not a big deal, right?
00:20:49.360 I care about this because two months is a long time to have a weak or comatose president of the United States.
00:20:57.500 We all thought early November, wow, great, Trump won.
00:21:01.020 It's all good.
00:21:01.640 No World War III.
00:21:02.520 Things are going to get better.
00:21:04.260 Two months is a long time.
00:21:06.660 A lot can spin out of control in two months.
00:21:10.240 So the South Korean right-wing leader is taking matters into his own hands.
00:21:14.420 I was talking about this with a friend of mine.
00:21:15.920 We were joking.
00:21:16.500 I said, oh, wow, you saw South Korea declared martial law.
00:21:18.540 And my friend said, well, hold on.
00:21:19.860 I need to figure out which side is which before I figure out what I think about that.
00:21:24.580 And it was a joke because people will think it's hypocritical to support a right-winger declaring martial law if the left-wingers are trying to overthrow the government, but that it would be bad if a left-winger declared martial law, for instance.
00:21:35.220 But it's not hypocritical.
00:21:36.580 It just means different people have different standards and different ends of government, and their substantive differences are real and legitimate.
00:21:42.960 Also a reminder, I know this is going to be unpopular among some idealists and maybe libertarians.
00:21:49.580 Martial law is not only just, but also necessary in certain cases.
00:21:55.120 Not in every case.
00:21:56.100 But we have exercised martial law in parts of America many, many times, well over a dozen times in American history.
00:22:02.440 President Abraham Lincoln, widely regarded as one of the greatest American presidents, he himself instituted martial law.
00:22:07.640 It happens, and the reason for that is that when your country faces an existential threat, a true existential threat, not Joe Biden saying that the mean orange mango Mussolini is an existential threat, but a genuine existential threat, then the preservation of the country becomes paramount.
00:22:23.660 It supersedes the demands of local law, state law, federal law, even the Constitution by definition, by the very internal logic of law.
00:22:33.700 But what does it mean for the rest of the world?
00:22:35.340 It means things are going to spin out of control a lot more before January 20th.
00:22:40.740 Things are going to get worse before they get better.
00:22:42.800 There's so much more to say.
00:22:43.680 First, though, Roast Sparks are a game changer for guys who need a little extra help in the boudoir.
00:22:49.080 They are a two-in-one prescription treatment that combines the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis, two powerhouse treatments.
00:22:55.460 Sometimes it's not just the ingredients that matter.
00:22:57.580 It is how you are taking that medicine.
00:22:59.660 That is why Roast Sparks are designed to dissolve under your tongue.
00:23:03.300 That is huge because dissolvable treatment hits your bloodstream faster than old-school pills.
00:23:08.500 So Roast Sparks keeps you present with your spouse instead of waiting for a pill to work.
00:23:12.920 Plus, Tadalafil, the active ingredient in Cialis, lasts in the system for up to 36 hours.
00:23:18.660 So when the mood is right, you will be ready without another dose.
00:23:22.880 Find out if prescription Roast Sparks is right for you.
00:23:25.540 Get $15 off your first order and connect with a provider at ro.co slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S.
00:23:33.140 That is $15 off at R-O dot C-O slash K-N-O-W-L-E-S.
00:23:39.860 Compounded drugs are permitted to be prescribed under federal law but are not FDA approved and do not undergo FDA safety, effectiveness, or manufacturing review.
00:23:47.220 Only available if prescribed after an online consultation with a provider.
00:23:51.780 Speaking of authoritarian government, a man has been escorted from the Edison, New Jersey, town council meeting.
00:24:00.460 He was dragged out by security.
00:24:02.320 And do you know why?
00:24:02.980 What was his offense?
00:24:03.680 He waved an American flag.
00:24:06.800 I'm holding up an American flag to represent the constitutional values that we should employ at the Warren.
00:24:14.280 And if you continue, I will have to forfeit.
00:24:16.800 You'll have to forfeit.
00:24:18.200 Well, I'm...
00:24:19.880 It's my constitutional right to do this.
00:24:26.700 If you get two, you will lose.
00:24:28.920 My suggestion to you is that you get second opinion from competent counsel because you are wrong.
00:24:36.520 You are interfering with the federal disdainment.
00:24:39.540 I'm interfering with the right-off speech.
00:24:43.620 I remember the couple.
00:24:44.880 I remember the government's preparing for this speech.
00:24:47.420 And she stopped now.
00:24:49.640 I'd like to continue.
00:24:52.700 They didn't pass the law yet.
00:24:55.280 There they are.
00:24:55.980 There are the cops.
00:24:57.340 Cops are showing up to drag this guy out for the crime of waving an American flag.
00:25:02.660 Why were they throwing him out for this?
00:25:05.100 Well, this municipal council had set an ordinance for proper decorum in these meetings.
00:25:12.480 And part of it was that they're not allowed to use props.
00:25:15.400 No one speaking is allowed to use props.
00:25:17.840 So, okay, I understand that in principle.
00:25:19.320 Just as a rule of political advice to the genius politicians on the Edison town council,
00:25:24.000 it's never a good look to punish someone for waving the American flag.
00:25:30.060 Doesn't look good.
00:25:31.620 I don't care.
00:25:32.800 You can justify it.
00:25:33.540 No, but we have this ordinance and it's actually pertained to all sorts of props.
00:25:36.520 And yeah, okay.
00:25:37.620 Doesn't look good.
00:25:38.900 That's not going to persuade anyone.
00:25:40.320 And the point that that speaker was making is a very good one.
00:25:45.020 The point that just the visuals of him getting thrown out for waving the flag.
00:25:49.420 Because that happens in a lot of places.
00:25:52.380 I remember when I was in college.
00:25:54.580 Now, a while ago.
00:25:56.040 My freshman year was 2008.
00:25:58.540 One of my roommates had gotten an American flag.
00:26:01.140 We flew it out the window of our dorm.
00:26:04.160 And it was controversial.
00:26:06.640 Even then, even in 2008, it was considered controversial.
00:26:10.900 I think eventually we had to take it down.
00:26:12.660 And it was based on one of these, you know, you're not allowed to fly flags or whatever.
00:26:15.340 But I guarantee you, had we flown a pride flag or something?
00:26:19.280 Maybe in those days, I don't know.
00:26:20.420 Today, if you flew a pride flag, no way could anyone order you to take that down.
00:26:24.200 And had someone shown up at this town council meeting and waved a pride flag,
00:26:28.700 do you believe that the police would have dragged them out?
00:26:31.420 It would have become a big civil rights story.
00:26:32.900 The ACLU would take up the case, would probably drag the case all the way up to the Supreme Court.
00:26:39.420 Because the true flag of our perverse political elite is the rainbow flag.
00:26:47.360 And it's not even the rainbow flag anymore.
00:26:50.120 It's that kind of terrorist rainbow flag.
00:26:52.260 You know, the one with the BLM stuff in there, too, with the triangle.
00:26:55.280 And that's their flag.
00:26:58.500 That's the flag that they pledge allegiance to.
00:27:00.480 That's the flag that stirs their heart.
00:27:02.720 That's the flag that would bring a tear to their eye.
00:27:05.640 They don't like the American flag because they don't like what the flag stands for,
00:27:10.280 which is the country, the American nation.
00:27:12.120 They want to erase the nation by erasing borders.
00:27:16.140 They think that everything that has ever happened in American history has been awful and marred by all sorts of injustice and bigotry.
00:27:22.540 And in the present, we're in a crisis.
00:27:23.800 And in the future, when we transcend America, when we, to use the words of Barack Obama, fundamentally transform America,
00:27:29.360 they hate America so much they want to fundamentally transform it,
00:27:31.920 then we'll have a new country which will be good.
00:27:34.120 And the new country needs to have a new symbol, and the new symbol is going to be the rainbow or some derivation thereof.
00:27:41.060 That's the political reality that we're living in.
00:27:44.180 The American flag in 2024 is a subversive symbol in the United States of America.
00:27:49.800 Speaking of the lib parts of the country, Gavin Newsom, Gold Nussolini, Governor Patrick Bateman,
00:27:57.120 is launching a $25 million anti-Trump legal fund, taxpayer dollars in California, to fight the president.
00:28:05.640 We are preparing for that.
00:28:07.620 That was the whole point, is the whole point of the special session.
00:28:11.120 We're not going to be caught flat-footed, and we want to be prepared as early as January 20th,
00:28:16.620 and that's why the special session is important.
00:28:18.180 We also have a brand-new legislature coming in, a lot of new people,
00:28:21.940 and this will be an opportunity to engage and convene, talk about the previous 122 lawsuits.
00:28:27.140 Again, we reacted to the assault.
00:28:30.100 It wasn't a proactive litigation strategy.
00:28:32.680 It was a reactive strategy.
00:28:33.840 There's not one lawsuit with Trump administration.
00:28:36.940 As I said, open hand, not a closed fist.
00:28:39.540 No governor in California worked more closely.
00:28:42.100 No governor in the country, I would argue.
00:28:43.780 Democrat worked more closely.
00:28:46.160 Democratic governor.
00:28:47.000 With Donald Trump than I did during COVID.
00:28:49.840 Same time, he took a million billion dollars of your high-speed rail money.
00:28:53.520 Same time, he tried to take your crime grants.
00:28:55.780 At the same time, he tried to vandalize most of the progress of the last half-century,
00:28:59.680 as we were getting along.
00:29:01.660 So again, no one's naive.
00:29:04.200 I've been there.
00:29:05.300 We have the receipts.
00:29:06.720 We know exactly what he intends to do.
00:29:08.600 He's been very honest about that.
00:29:10.400 And there's nothing to suggest the last two weeks that he's not even more hell-bent on doing it.
00:29:16.720 Mark it on your calendars.
00:29:18.940 The 2028 presidential election is already on.
00:29:22.560 And this guy wants it.
00:29:24.380 He wants to be the Democrat nominee.
00:29:26.200 And he's good.
00:29:27.260 He reminds me of Bill Clinton in his prime.
00:29:29.620 Now, listen to what he did here.
00:29:30.880 That Trump, he took $27 million of your money, and he wanted to do this.
00:29:35.440 We're going to put it over here, and I feel your pain.
00:29:37.740 And he's even got that little Bubba swagger going on.
00:29:40.900 Look, I don't like him.
00:29:43.220 I think it was Edmund Smirk who calls him Woke Caesar.
00:29:47.020 He's not good.
00:29:48.920 He is not good, but he's good.
00:29:51.300 He's not good in a moral sense.
00:29:54.280 He's not good for the politics of America, but he is good at politics, this guy.
00:30:00.900 And as of now, he might be the frontrunner in 2028.
00:30:04.140 He is taking 20—it's so ironic.
00:30:07.420 He's whining about Donald Trump supposedly diverting tax dollars from California,
00:30:12.980 while he takes tax dollars from California effectively to give himself a publicly funded campaign fund.
00:30:21.580 Now, what do you think that $25 million is for, to fight the Trump administration?
00:30:24.800 Do you think that's really to protect the interests of the state of California?
00:30:27.280 No, that's to buy him $25 million worth of publicity to seem like the face of opposition to Donald Trump,
00:30:33.020 and it's probably going to work.
00:30:36.560 Why is he the frontrunner in 2028?
00:30:39.300 Because he didn't run this time.
00:30:42.020 They sent up sacrificial lamb Kamala Harris, and this is further proof that Gavin Newsom is really good at politics.
00:30:49.120 You remember, back when there was a Republican primary in 2024, which most people forget at this point, because it didn't go very far.
00:30:54.980 There was a primary, at least for a lot of it, the leading candidate in the primary who wasn't Donald Trump was Ron DeSantis.
00:31:03.980 Gavin Newsom had a televised debate with Ron DeSantis.
00:31:06.900 Ron DeSantis won the debate, but it almost didn't matter.
00:31:09.480 It was Newsom putting himself up there as the real leader, the undercard.
00:31:14.040 And DeSantis was kind of the undercard, as was Newsom in his party.
00:31:18.480 And then the real race was between Biden-Trump and then Kamala Trump.
00:31:23.820 Well, now, looking ahead to 2028, Newsom's looking like the guy.
00:31:28.520 And he talks good, and he looks good, and he's moving money around, and he's making serious plays.
00:31:35.440 The race is on.
00:31:36.360 This is one of the strange facts about having a president serve a non-consecutive second term.
00:31:43.220 It's clearer when the president just serves a consecutive second term.
00:31:46.520 But with a non-consecutive second term, we have all of this excitement.
00:31:49.760 You know, it feels like a bright new day in America.
00:31:52.000 But Trump is term-limited out.
00:31:55.380 So he'll have a good run of probably two years where he can really get things done.
00:32:01.860 He'll have unified government for two years.
00:32:03.560 It's probably going to become harder in the midterms.
00:32:06.100 Usually, incumbents lose the midterms, their party.
00:32:08.960 And this time, the Senate map is going to be really tough.
00:32:13.040 But the race begins now.
00:32:15.640 And who is going to run?
00:32:16.560 Kamala, give me a break.
00:32:18.220 Joe?
00:32:19.020 Jimmy Carter?
00:32:19.760 I don't know.
00:32:20.080 Maybe.
00:32:20.340 Maybe those guys will run.
00:32:21.320 But it's Gavin Newsom.
00:32:23.780 Mayor Pete?
00:32:24.660 I think Mayor Pete's kind of done.
00:32:26.080 Maybe he'll try.
00:32:26.880 But I don't know.
00:32:27.700 Maybe he'll run for governor or something first.
00:32:31.820 Huh.
00:32:32.300 Can you name anyone?
00:32:33.120 Tulsi Gabbard?
00:32:33.840 She's a Republican now.
00:32:35.440 Bobby Kennedy?
00:32:36.180 He's a Republican now.
00:32:37.120 Who are you going to?
00:32:42.440 Who's going to run?
00:32:43.200 I don't know.
00:32:43.460 I think it's Gavin Newsom.
00:32:45.040 Right now, he's the leading candidate.
00:32:47.520 Get your act together, Democrats.
00:32:48.860 They're going to have a tough time doing that.
00:32:50.700 Meanwhile, President Trump has announced plans to travel to Paris for the opening of Notre Dame de Paris,
00:32:57.060 the great, one of the most famous cathedrals in the world.
00:32:59.000 He writes,
00:33:00.400 It is an honor to announce that I will be traveling to Paris, France, on Saturday to attend the reopening of the magnificent and historic Notre Dame Cathedral,
00:33:08.820 which has been fully restored after a devastating fire five years ago.
00:33:13.060 This restoration, which a lot of people feared was going to turn Notre Dame de Paris into like a holiday inn or something,
00:33:22.180 it looks like they did a good job at it.
00:33:24.300 The cathedral is 860 years old.
00:33:27.520 It was burned down.
00:33:28.820 We still don't really have a good explanation as to how that fire started, and we're not really allowed to ask questions about it.
00:33:33.860 But it cost about $700 million, and there's going to be a big ceremony, and in any case, the president-elect is going.
00:33:40.440 And this is a really good thing.
00:33:41.700 It's a really good signal.
00:33:43.660 Because it means that President Trump is thinking of his presidency not merely in national terms, but in civilizational terms.
00:33:51.320 As well, he should.
00:33:52.360 The United States is the global empire.
00:33:54.280 It is the leader, certainly, of the West.
00:33:56.340 For now, it's still the leader of the world, but at the very least, it is the leader of Western civilization.
00:34:02.520 And we need to start thinking in a civilizational way.
00:34:07.240 One of the real problems of liberalism, one of the real problems of modernity, is we only think of ourselves.
00:34:13.640 We don't think about the nation anymore.
00:34:15.500 We're all citizens of the world.
00:34:16.480 We're citizens of nothing.
00:34:17.300 We don't have borders.
00:34:18.000 We don't think about the state.
00:34:18.800 We don't think about the family.
00:34:20.200 It's just the individual.
00:34:21.420 It's me, me, me, me, me all the time.
00:34:22.660 And that's going to lead to our civilizational collapse.
00:34:27.560 It already sort of is because we don't have children anymore, and we're killing ourselves, literally.
00:34:32.400 We need to think, good, okay, we've got a restoration of nationalism.
00:34:36.300 That's good.
00:34:36.600 That was the N-word.
00:34:37.320 You weren't allowed to say it.
00:34:38.480 But now, since Trump 2016, we can think about the nation again.
00:34:43.600 Not merely communities and states' rights, but even about the nation.
00:34:47.140 But we need to think bigger than the nation.
00:34:48.740 We need to think about civilization.
00:34:50.420 I love America.
00:34:51.200 My family's been here since the Mayflower, okay, which is the name of a great cigar brand.
00:34:56.020 However, our roots go back further than America.
00:35:00.660 And the great triumphs of what was once called Christendom, now we call it the West.
00:35:05.980 The great triumphs go back much, much further, and we have to preserve them.
00:35:08.980 And one of those great triumphs is the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris.
00:35:13.680 And we need there to be some civilizational coherence.
00:35:18.740 It's just like with a family.
00:35:21.180 If the family all splits up, they're all just going to die out.
00:35:24.500 There won't be a family anymore.
00:35:26.520 If a molecule splits up, there's no more molecule.
00:35:29.840 And if a civilization is just off doing its own thing, totally disconnected, no care for its past,
00:35:34.600 no care for how it relates, each member relates to one another,
00:35:38.340 then there is no civilization anymore.
00:35:39.940 And it would be a real shame if the greatest civilization in the history of the world were to allow itself to die,
00:35:46.880 which is currently what we're doing.
00:35:48.480 We need some strong leadership to turn that around.
00:35:50.280 And President Trump, I think, is signaling that he wants to provide it.

00:37:01.200 My favorite comment yesterday is from Garland of Books, 4494, who says,
00:37:07.180 Joe Biden pardoned three turkeys for Thanksgiving this year,
00:37:10.880 breaking the presidential record.
00:37:12.260 That is my kind of pun.
00:37:13.380 That's a great point.
00:37:14.580 And he did.
00:37:14.960 That's exactly what he did.
00:37:15.900 But speaking of killing animals,
00:37:20.420 an Ohio woman has pled guilty to eating a cat.
00:37:25.760 Please put another digit on the board for President Trump.
00:37:31.240 Here it is.
00:37:32.000 I have it.
00:37:32.360 We were told it was fake news.
00:37:34.640 No one's eating cats in Ohio.
00:37:36.420 This woman, this woman just pled guilty to eating a cat.
00:37:41.760 Now, I should note, she's not Haitian.
00:37:43.840 She's not from Haiti.
00:37:44.940 She's not of Haitian descent.
00:37:46.720 And it's not in that town, Springfield, where all of this is supposedly happening.
00:37:52.420 But it's close.
00:37:53.260 It's not that far.
00:37:53.820 I think it's 150, 175 miles away.
00:37:56.340 She was arrested in late August after killing a cat by stomping its head and then eating the cat.
00:38:03.000 She was found squatting next to the cat, which was dead.
00:38:06.960 She had blood on her feet and hands and fur on her lips.
00:38:09.680 Yuck.
00:38:11.380 She was asked, did you eat the cat?
00:38:13.260 And she did.
00:38:16.420 There you go.
00:38:17.460 There you have it.
00:38:18.020 But I don't really have anything else to say about that other than they are eating the cats.
00:38:24.280 And they're probably eating the dogs and the ducks and the geese as well.
00:38:28.400 Very disordered behavior.
00:38:31.260 The left is going to try to debunk this and say, no, it wasn't the exact kind of person within the exact place.
00:38:37.100 I don't know.
00:38:39.060 It's not.
00:38:40.400 There it is.
00:38:41.260 She pled guilty.
00:38:43.540 Boom.
00:38:44.140 Liberals own.
00:38:44.760 I didn't think the liberals could be owned any more than they already were, but they are.
00:38:47.420 Speaking of critiques of Americans, Ronnie Cheng from The Daily Show has just explained the Trump victory by calling most Americans effing morons.
00:39:02.760 Covering the election live in America was both a dream come true as a political historian junkie, U.S. political history junkie.
00:39:11.480 And it was also like watching a car slowly crash into the country.
00:39:15.840 And there's not much you can do about it at that point other than make dumb jokes about it.
00:39:21.160 I come from a conservative country.
00:39:23.580 There's nothing inherently evil or bad about a conservative mindset.
00:39:27.860 I just think that we would like to have conservatives who are not morons.
00:39:32.940 That's probably what it is.
00:39:33.820 You know what I mean?
00:39:34.080 Yeah, we just, we like, he says we because he's from Malaysia.
00:39:41.300 He's a Malaysian citizen.
00:39:42.720 As far as I can tell, he's not an American citizen, though he's lived here for a long time.
00:39:46.920 So he says, yeah, we, we're different from you guys.
00:39:49.300 We're fine with conservatives, just not the ones who are effing morons.
00:39:52.700 So who are the effing morons here?
00:39:55.060 The effing morons he's referring to are the people who voted for Trump.
00:39:57.680 But most people voted for Trump.
00:40:01.260 So he's saying most Americans are effing morons.
00:40:05.380 Which raises a question to me.
00:40:08.180 And it's going to sound hyperbolic and provocative, but it's not really.
00:40:13.000 Why don't we deport him?
00:40:15.480 Why do we tolerate him here?
00:40:19.700 What does he add to America?
00:40:22.460 You might say, well, he's on a TV show.
00:40:24.420 Yeah, he's on a TV show that no one's watched in like 20 years.
00:40:28.120 He's on a TV show that no one has watched since Jon Stewart left.
00:40:32.740 And that people still don't watch anymore, even when Jon Stewart guest hosts.
00:40:38.740 I, I had not heard this guy's name before this clip went viral.
00:40:44.620 He, as far as I can tell, again, I don't know everything about this guy.
00:40:47.860 But as far as I can tell, he takes pictures holding the Malaysian passport.
00:40:51.200 I don't see any evidence that he's an American citizen.
00:40:53.320 So why, what's the point of him being here?
00:40:56.100 Anyone who's shocked by that, who thinks that's a provocative, hateful statement?
00:41:01.480 I guess I have to ask, what's the point of immigration?
00:41:03.560 What, and what they will say is, the point of immigration is to respect people's right to go into our country.
00:41:11.940 They have a right, and foreigners have a right to be in America.
00:41:14.540 They have a right to our resources.
00:41:16.440 They have a right to our relatively strong economy.
00:41:19.220 They have a right to our civil order, which seems to be fraying, but it's better than a lot of places in the world.
00:41:25.400 They have a right, they have a right, they have a right.
00:41:26.880 They don't have a right to that.
00:41:27.680 What are you talking about?
00:41:29.640 They're not American.
00:41:30.980 I don't have a right to Malaysia.
00:41:33.960 I don't have a right to Timbuktu.
00:41:36.580 I don't have a right to just go there and use their resources and live there.
00:41:40.020 And I don't have any right to that.
00:41:42.140 Most places in the world, if I tried to go there and I didn't provide a really strong reason as to why I should be there, they'd kick me out.
00:41:48.260 Why don't we do that here?
00:41:50.220 The problem, it's not even just this guy, though I would have no problem deporting him.
00:41:54.200 The problem is that we just fundamentally misunderstand what immigration is for.
00:41:59.960 It's supposed to benefit us.
00:42:01.820 It's supposed to benefit our country.
00:42:03.660 Do we allow some hard cases in who are seeking asylum, who are in hard?
00:42:07.580 Yes, we do that out of charity and out of grace and mercy.
00:42:10.880 Sure.
00:42:11.360 But that's not the rule.
00:42:13.100 That's not what it's for.
00:42:15.180 Immigration is for helping us.
00:42:17.760 How does he help us?
00:42:18.660 How does inviting a lot of people in who hate our country and hate most Americans, how does that help us?
00:42:24.120 It doesn't help us at all.
00:42:26.180 We misunderstand what immigration is for because we misunderstand what nations are for.
00:42:32.760 Because we misunderstand like everything now.
00:42:36.080 We misunderstand what political community is, what we're here for, what we're doing.
00:42:39.980 We're just so confused.
00:42:42.280 And it's really infuriating that we would allow ourselves to be degraded in this way.
00:42:48.660 You don't, there are a lot of places.
00:42:50.860 If I went to Saudi Arabia right now and I called the Saudi royal family a bunch of effing morons, I would not remain in Saudi Arabia very long.
00:43:00.260 My head would probably not remain on my body for very long.
00:43:03.200 Why do we tolerate this?
00:43:04.260 Speaking of the culture war, Kamala Harris' deputy campaign manager has just come out with an obvious fact that is nevertheless a stunning admission coming from the left.
00:43:16.920 Namely, the left is losing the culture war.
00:43:18.940 And like for the masculinity piece of it, men don't like people that apologize.
00:43:25.840 I don't know what age bracket, but it's called like standing on business.
00:43:28.320 If you say something, you mean it.
00:43:29.980 Trump does not apologize.
00:43:31.200 If he says something, he means it and his party stands behind him and they don't make him backtrack it.
00:43:36.060 And that type of infrastructure doesn't exist.
00:43:39.540 We're also getting creamed online.
00:43:40.880 There is a cultural dynamic that's at play in politics today where it is converging like we've never seen.
00:43:47.340 And we're losing the culture war.
00:43:48.320 And we're losing the culture war.
00:43:49.940 And whatever it is, woke, whatever word you want to use, I'm not, you know, I leave that to anybody to define on whatever value.
00:43:57.540 We're losing the culture war.
00:43:59.080 That's true.
00:43:59.540 The libs are, there's no question they're losing the culture war.
00:44:02.840 They're losing, think about the people who shifted in this election.
00:44:05.740 A lot of it has been talked about, the one in five black guys who voted for Trump.
00:44:10.460 Shocking number given the Democrats' stranglehold on the black vote for all of our lifetimes.
00:44:15.140 The 46% of Hispanics, the majority of married women, the almost half of women 45 and over, 44% of women under the age of 45, 40% of women under the age of 30.
00:44:29.140 You know, shocking numbers.
00:44:31.340 They were all moving over.
00:44:33.980 Why?
00:44:35.440 Why is the, well, because Trump's in the pop culture.
00:44:37.800 He goes on Joe Rogan, he goes on Aiden Ross, he goes on all these shows.
00:44:42.000 But why else?
00:44:43.520 Why does Joe Rogan exist?
00:44:44.940 Why does Aiden Ross exist?
00:44:46.540 Why did the, why are people tuning out the establishment media?
00:44:50.280 MSNBC posted ratings the other week that are like public access cable news numbers.
00:44:57.720 Okay?
00:44:58.140 I mean, we're talking really, really low stuff.
00:45:01.060 Local kind of numbers.
00:45:02.340 Why are people tuning all of those out?
00:45:03.920 I was speaking to a journalist from a liberal outlet the other day, and he asked me, he said, Michael, he was acknowledging that the left is losing the culture war.
00:45:11.940 He said, why, why, why can't the left do what you guys have done at the Daily Wire?
00:45:17.260 Why can't the left do what, what the alternative media have done, have their own media?
00:45:22.120 And I laughed at him.
00:45:23.620 I said, well, you tell me.
00:45:25.480 You have that.
00:45:26.780 You had that at least.
00:45:28.660 What do you think CBS, ABC, NBC, the New York Times, CNN, the Washington Post, what do you think those are?
00:45:35.380 That was the liberal media.
00:45:37.340 The problem is not that the libs don't have media.
00:45:39.940 Are you kidding me?
00:45:40.540 The problem is that people are tuning out those media.
00:45:43.900 And the reason they're tuning them out is they don't have credibility anymore.
00:45:47.000 They've lost the common sense.
00:45:48.960 They've lost their authority, their ethos.
00:45:52.620 People find the reporters and the anchors to be dishonest.
00:45:57.160 So they're tuning into someone else.
00:45:59.920 Getting right back to the case we were talking about at the top of the show.
00:46:03.420 All these people on the left have told you that the man that you see before your very eyes is a woman.
00:46:09.600 Well, not me.
00:46:10.100 Right now you're looking at me.
00:46:11.620 And I don't think most of them have called me a woman.
00:46:13.320 But they tell you that a man can be a woman and that it's good to geld your children.
00:46:20.180 They tell you things that everyone knows at just a gut level just are not true.
00:46:25.600 And that they know at a rational level are not true.
00:46:27.500 And so they've lost the common sense.
00:46:29.180 If they want to win the culture war back, they have to get back in touch with reality.
00:46:32.660 And I don't think they want to, which is fine by me.
00:46:35.040 Because then we can keep winning.
00:46:36.120 And I love it.
00:46:36.660 There's no member block today.
00:46:37.740 I've got to go to New York.
00:46:38.660 I'm Michael Knowles.
00:46:39.280 This is the Michael Knowles Show.
00:46:40.080 I'll see you tomorrow.
00:46:41.500 New York.
