00:02:24.480 life-saving medical care after her executioners failed to kill her on Wednesday.
00:02:29.860 She is now in critical condition with a reported brain injury, but doctors are hopeful that she
00:02:34.920 will make enough of a recovery that the state can execute her again. We will examine the cruel and
00:02:42.540 unusual case of our modern death penalty. Then new text messages in the case of the Cornell 7
00:02:48.940 reveal that Jane Doe changed her mind on the ketamine-fueled menage a wheat and concluded
00:02:55.300 that she had been raped because her alleged rapists did not invite her back to another
00:03:02.660 party at the supposed location of her rape the following week. Then one of the most prominent
00:03:10.320 Democrats running for Congress this cycle, accidentally admits that his own party hates 0.97
00:03:15.140 Jews. I'm Michael Knowles. This is The Michael Knowles Show. Welcome back to the show. If you 0.61
00:03:38.040 haven't seen run, hide, fight infidels yet, I don't know what to say to you. You have to go 1.00
00:03:42.160 to dailywire.com slash subscribe. We got Omani Muslim terrorists hijacking airplanes only being 1.00
00:03:50.200 thwarted by fast-thinking Indian pilots and Jewish dentists, and you haven't seen run, 1.00
00:03:56.080 hide, fight infidels yet? At dailywire.com slash subscribe, it's crazy. Speaking of death, 0.99
00:04:01.740 this Krista Pike execution is a Monty Python sketch. It would be hilarious if it weren't so
00:04:10.580 sad and scary and freaky and ridiculous. Krista Pike was supposed to be executed for a grisly, 1.00
00:04:18.100 brutal, horrific murder of a teenage girl that she committed 30 years ago. And because of our
00:04:23.020 current death penalty system, where we want to carry out the death penalty, but we don't want
00:04:28.500 to admit that we're carrying out the death penalty. We want to exact justice, but we feel
00:04:33.080 kind of icky about it. Because of that, it now takes 30 years to kill someone, which almost
00:04:37.820 totally destroys the deterrent effect of capital punishment, which is one of the purposes of
00:04:42.160 capital punishment, but not the main one. Because of that, she is supposed to be executed 31 years
00:04:46.940 later. She wakes up after the first shots are administered. She says, hey, is it supposed to
00:04:51.540 hurt this bad? My arm feels like it's going to explode. Is this normal? Then she kind of goes
00:04:55.840 back to sleep and it doesn't work. They administer more poison shots. That doesn't work. So then
00:05:01.060 what do they do? They take her to the hospital. They take her to the hospital because she needs 0.80
00:05:08.020 life-saving medical care because she might die from the death penalty shots, but she didn't die
00:05:14.160 fast enough, so they're going to save her life. But the conviction and the sentence still stands,
00:05:18.640 so they got to save her life so they can bring her back and kill her again. Now she's in the 0.54
00:05:22.820 hospital in critical condition, and news sources are reporting that she has a brain injury. 0.97
00:05:29.960 Executions usually cause brain injuries. So I don't know why this is shocking to the journalists,
00:05:35.740 the doctors, the state executioners. They want to make sure, though, that she is alive. And if she
00:05:42.340 has a brain injury, it's unclear if they can execute her, because you're not supposed to 0.70
00:05:45.240 execute people who are mentally incapacitated. Now, of course, she only got the brain injury
00:05:49.480 because they tried to execute her and executions 100% of the time cause brain injury. So now we
00:05:55.840 don't know what to do. How did this all happen in the first place? Well, it's because Krista
00:06:01.440 Pike requested execution by death penalty, which is a far more, sorry, execution by firing squad, 0.97
00:06:07.660 a far more humane, far more dignified way to go. She was totally right to request that, 0.95
00:06:14.020 but the state said no. The state said instead, we have to inject you with poison.
00:06:18.520 So then her dying wish was, or what was supposed to be her dying wish, 0.99
00:06:21.660 was that she'd be executed by an execution team of all women. 0.97
00:06:28.280 Would not be my request if I were in Krista Pike's position. 0.98
00:06:31.400 Nevertheless, they say, okay, we're going to make some history here. 1.00
00:06:34.120 We're going to have an execution team of all women. 1.00
00:06:37.780 Didn't work out. 1.00
00:06:38.620 Some jobs, let's just say some jobs are best left to men. 0.97
00:06:42.520 So it doesn't work out. 1.00
00:06:43.860 She's in the hospital now.
00:06:45.760 She, according to the New York Times, might have, or New York Post, rather, probably has a brain injury.
00:06:52.000 Everything went wrong here.
00:06:54.100 And this is really an indictment of us, of our politics, of the demos, of our society.
00:07:01.180 We already have the indictment of Krista Pike.
00:07:03.060 She already, she committed the horrific crime.
00:07:04.600 She was convicted for it. 0.80
00:07:05.500 She was sentenced to death for it.
00:07:06.780 This is really an indictment of us.
00:07:08.360 The death penalty is not cruel and unusual punishment.
00:07:10.820 By any understanding of that language from U.S. law, from the U.S. Constitution, it is not cruel
00:07:17.000 and unusual punishment. It is a very standard form of justice administered in our own country
00:07:23.480 and everywhere around the world since the dawn of time. It doesn't have to be cruel. We want to
00:07:28.060 make it humane. We don't want to torture the condemned. This woman has been tortured now,
00:07:32.500 but you don't want to torture the condemned. You want it to be quick and easy. The invention of
00:07:35.600 the guillotine was to make it quick and easy and painless. The electric chair was supposed to make
00:07:40.780 it relatively quick and easy. That did not. The firing squad certainly does that. But the lethal
00:07:47.620 injection does not actually do that. The lethal injection is not about being humane to the
00:07:53.100 condemned. The lethal injection is about being humane to the rest of us because the lethal
00:07:58.160 injection is supposed to put you to sleep. You're not supposed to see them writhing in pain or crying
00:08:01.760 or anything like that. But that's for us. There's really no evidence that it's not painful. In fact,
00:08:06.080 now there is a lot of evidence that it is painful for the person because the condemned here sat up
00:08:09.900 and said, ow, this really, really hurts.
00:08:11.280 Is it supposed to hurt this bad?
00:08:13.180 The lethal injection is about protecting our feelings,
00:08:17.260 is about alleviating the pain for us, the spectators,
00:08:20.820 the society, the condemned her to death, 0.70
00:08:22.480 not Krista Pike.
00:08:25.600 There's the moral question
00:08:27.740 and there's the political question.
00:08:28.840 On the moral question, there are lots of people debating
00:08:30.620 whether or not the death penalty is moral.
00:08:33.060 And you see this especially among Catholics 0.61
00:08:35.440 because over the last eight years,
00:08:37.760 the most recent popes have really increased their invective against the death penalty going so far
00:08:44.080 as to say it's inadmissible. Now, the popes have not gone so far as to say it's morally evil
00:08:48.540 because that would contradict scripture and 2,000 years of church history and the doctors of the
00:08:53.080 church and popes, including popes who have been beatified, who have carried out the death penalty
00:08:57.520 themselves. So they can't go that far. However, they've gone about as far as they can possibly go.
00:09:03.000 And so some people are saying now you can't be Catholic if you make any defense of the
00:09:07.640 death penalty. Again, the church measures her time not in weeks or days or even years. The church
00:09:14.480 measures her time in centuries. And so this is a complex issue. It will be worked out over a long
00:09:20.180 period of time by many popes and bishops in the history of the church. It's obviously a nuanced
00:09:26.620 issue. This all began because John Paul II said that he was personally opposed to the death penalty.
00:09:31.240 He said as a practical matter in the modern era, we have enough guardrails that we don't need to
00:09:36.360 carry out the death penalty. Pope Benedict followed that. He personally was opposed to the
00:09:40.340 death penalty, though he said reasonable minds and reasonable Catholics could disagree over this.
00:09:45.020 It was Pope Francis who really ratcheted up the language in 2017, 2018, and then Pope Leo seems
00:09:52.120 to have maintained Francis's view. I think there is a misunderstanding, though, on the purpose of
00:09:56.820 the death penalty. The chief purpose of the death penalty is not deterrence. The chief purpose of
00:10:02.420 the death penalty is not protection of the public safety. The chief purpose of the death penalty
00:10:07.260 is not rehabilitation. It is retribution. It is that justice has to be restored.
00:10:13.880 So we see this in the writing of St. Thomas Aquinas, common doctor of the church in the
00:10:17.320 Summa Contra Gentiles. But in the Summa Theologia, you see Thomas Aquinas writing more from the
00:10:21.820 perspective of public safety. All to say, it's a very complex issue. It'll be debated for a very
00:10:26.140 long time. Obedient sons of the church, we pay due reverence to what the Holy Father says.
00:10:30.280 but obviously there's more to the story
00:10:33.180 and we don't have to turn our brains off
00:10:34.940 when we think about moral issues.
00:10:37.080 That's really not what is relevant in this case
00:10:40.240 because whatever you think about the morality
00:10:42.700 of the death penalty,
00:10:43.940 whatever you think about whether or not
00:10:46.320 the death penalty should be carried out
00:10:47.560 as a matter of the civil law, 1.00
00:10:48.960 what is happening to this woman 1.00
00:10:50.520 is cruel and unusual punishment.
00:10:53.800 What is happening to this woman is absurd.
00:10:57.040 It is absurd on its face 0.80
00:10:59.520 to take a condemned criminal, bring her to the execution chamber,
00:11:04.240 fail to execute her twice, and then rush to get the ambulances so you can save her life.
00:11:08.880 That is absurd in itself. And the reason that we are doing it, at that point, you think,
00:11:16.940 okay, it doesn't work two times. Get out the mozzatello. You ever hear those, the mozzatello?
00:11:24.100 Actually, it was used in the papal states by the papal executioner to kill condemned criminals
00:11:29.340 it was just basically a big bludgeon to crush the skull of the condemned criminals. There are many
00:11:33.700 other methods of execution. But at that point, you say, okay, well, look, the shots didn't work.
00:11:37.980 Anybody have a pistol on them? We're here to do a job. The job is to kill the condemned criminal.
00:11:42.780 Anybody got a pistol? But we don't do that because it's about us. Now, I suggested on the show 0.99
00:11:48.240 yesterday, I said, look, even if you totally support the death penalty being carried out 0.99
00:11:52.680 here and you recognize the truly horrific nature of this woman's crime, there is a little role for
00:11:57.900 providence here. If someone survives two executions, one, I want to see if it's sabotage.
00:12:01.900 But if there's no evidence of it's sabotage, maybe it's a sign. We have natural justice,
00:12:06.800 but also sometimes we need to be open to God's interventions. Maybe it's that.
00:12:11.180 Whatever you think about it, this is cruel and unusual punishment. And more broadly,
00:12:15.760 the way that the death penalty is carried out in the United States is cruel and unusual.
00:12:20.380 Either do it or don't do it. But to let people languish for 30 years on death row,
00:12:25.780 and then to only execute a very, very small number of these people
00:12:29.480 in a way that seems kind of capricious,
00:12:31.820 that to me is unusual.
00:12:34.460 And that to me is quite cruel.
00:12:36.620 I think they're very, very, very strong defenses of the death penalty.
00:12:41.300 But they should be quick.
00:12:42.600 They should be efficient.
00:12:44.040 We should not torture the people. 0.99
00:12:45.640 In this case, this woman is being tortured.
00:12:47.800 And we are torturing ourselves.
00:12:49.560 We're twisting ourselves into pretzels.
00:12:51.920 Because we want to be the society that deals with criminals
00:12:55.720 that protects the public, that restores order,
00:12:58.820 but we don't want to do the icky stuff.
00:13:01.400 We don't even want the civil authority,
00:13:03.860 which is given the sword by God, according to St. Paul.
00:13:07.100 We don't even want them to do the icky stuff.
00:13:10.100 We want, this is liberalism.
00:13:12.220 This is, we want decaf coffee.
00:13:14.340 We want the good stuff from the,
00:13:16.600 we want some of the thing, but not the essence of the thing.
00:13:18.960 So we want capital punishment
00:13:20.580 without having to actually execute anyone. 0.98
00:13:22.780 Pretty ridiculous to me. 1.00
00:13:24.120 Speaking of women in the news, 0.95
00:13:25.380 the text messages coming out of the Cornell 7 case, we are seeing there is a real grave
00:13:31.420 injustice being done. And it's a grave injustice being done to the men who were accused of the
00:13:37.600 rape here. We'll get to that in a moment. First, I want to tell you about Halo. There's a lot more
00:13:41.920 to say. First, though, go to halo.com slash Knowles, K-N-W-L-E-S. Every week, your phone
00:13:45.880 sends you a screen time report, an unsolicited accounting of how much of your life you've
00:13:50.300 surrendered to a glowing rectangle. The number is usually not encouraging. It's usually deeply
00:13:55.840 blackpilling. We have no shortage of time for news, work, texts, and social media, but somehow
00:14:00.340 when it comes to prayer, we convince ourselves there just isn't enough time. Hallow is asking
00:14:04.520 you to reclaim some of it with the 21 Days of Prayer Challenge. For 21 days, you'll make
00:14:08.840 intentional time for God and pray alongside someone new, from Coach Prime, Gwen Stefani,
00:14:13.620 and Gary Sinise, to priests, pastors, mothers, nurses, and police officers. Each person answers
00:14:18.660 two questions. Who are you, and how do you pray? You may discover a prayer to begin your morning,
00:14:23.980 one to remember when life becomes difficult, or simply relearn how to be still. Your phone has
00:14:27.880 received enough of your attention. Give some of it back to God. This happens to me. I get to the
00:14:32.680 end of the day. I say, oh, I didn't finish this decade of the rosary. Oh, I didn't say, I definitely
00:14:38.520 doom-scrolled a lot. Definitely saw a lot of stupid tweets. So look, we all do it. Okay, forget about 1.00
00:14:44.160 it? Just start now. Download Hallow for three months and join the 21 Days of Prayer Challenge
00:14:48.620 at Hallow.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S, Hallow.com slash Knowles. The reporting coming
00:14:55.000 out of the New York Times here from the Cornell 7, this is pretty, pretty gross stuff. The whole
00:15:01.300 story is completely disgusting. For those of you who haven't followed the story, a girl shows up, 0.75
00:15:07.880 a sophomore at Cornell shows up to a frat house. They give her one beer. She has the beer. I guess
00:15:14.140 guess she had been drinking a little before but she was in her right mind relatively she was 0.97
00:15:18.220 consenting to things she goes to hook up with a guy the guy says hey can i bring another guy into
00:15:23.480 this gross she says okay that's fine and then they start doing their thing and then more guys show up 1.00
00:15:32.480 and the girl is like apparently kind of into it and she starts snorting drugs off some of the 0.96
00:15:37.080 guy's appendages and whatever and then they ask her to to add another guy and she says no i don't
00:15:43.340 want to add the fourth guy but then or the third guy to the menage a quatre but then then some
00:15:49.260 other guys come in she's apparently open to that and then whatever it okay the whole thing is
00:15:54.780 completely gross but the question is did these guys commit a rape their faces have been plastered
00:16:02.020 everywhere the accuser's face has not been plastered everywhere we don't know for sure what
00:16:07.540 her name is though some people are reporting on it but these guys we know their names we got their
00:16:12.080 faces everywhere. They're getting fired from their jobs. So the question is not, did they do
00:16:16.600 a weird thing in college? The question is not, did they do a yucky thing in college? The question
00:16:20.740 is not, did they do an immoral thing in college? Then we'll get to that. The question is, did they
00:16:25.340 commit a rape? That's what this girl is now alleging. But here's the reporting from the New 1.00
00:16:31.220 York Times. After this whole thing took place and at 530 in the morning, she says, okay, you know
00:16:37.680 what? I think I'm done with this. And the guys say, okay, that's fine. She goes home. New York
00:16:41.380 time says, in the meantime, Jane Doe delivered strict instructions to one of her roommates. She 0.84
00:16:45.320 was talking about this whole thing to her roommates. This is a crazy thing I did. She says
00:16:48.940 to her roommates, if anyone asks about this, say it didn't happen. The roommate was plainly
00:16:56.840 concerned. Initially, she said Jane Doe was quote, kind of recounting it as this sort of crazy thing
00:17:01.960 she had done. So the girl comes back, she's talking to her roommate. She goes, she doesn't
00:17:06.260 say I was raped. She doesn't even say I felt uncomfortable and this was, I don't know what
00:17:10.900 happened to me? She comes back and she goes, man, I had the craziest experience last night.
00:17:14.760 Isn't that wild? Aren't I a fun girl? That was nuts, huh? As the days went on, the roommate
00:17:20.260 continued, I think she kind of came to realize that it was something bad. Really important
00:17:25.620 wording here. Not something criminal, not something that was done to her, not that she
00:17:32.780 had been violated, that the thing she participated in was itself a bad thing. So she came to realize
00:17:42.180 that it was something bad and that she didn't really enjoy her time there. Initially, she said
00:17:47.220 she did enjoy her time there. It was this crazy thing. She was doing it for seven hours, but then
00:17:52.740 she came to discover that actually she didn't enjoy her time there. On October 25th, one of the
00:18:00.380 accused texted Jane Doe. You good? Jane Doe replied that this guy had death told people.
00:18:08.420 Notice, she doesn't say what you did to me was awful, what you did to me was criminal. I can't
00:18:12.080 believe you would do that to me for seven hours, constantly asking me if I was enjoying it or if
00:18:17.060 I wanted to leave or whatever. No, no, no. Her first concern was not about the act itself. It
00:18:21.860 was whether or not he had told people. Keep going on the reporting. Quote, I'd have conversations
00:18:29.260 and she would describe a part of what happened. And I would tell her that that is what could be
00:18:33.600 classified as rape, says the roommate. So they were having conversations and she didn't think
00:18:38.240 it was rape. But then the roommate comes out and the roommate doesn't even say that was rape.
00:18:43.480 The roommate says that is the sort of thing that could be classified as rape.
00:18:48.640 That's a very clinical language. That's very abstracted language. This is a struggle session.
00:18:54.060 This is what happened with the New York radical women's groups in the 1970s. You'd have these
00:18:59.120 women show up and they'd say, I have a pretty good life. I like my husband. I like my kids.
00:19:01.920 We have a pretty good life. And then the New York radical women's groups would raise their
00:19:05.640 consciousness. The whole point of these meetings was to say, no, no, no, you hate your life.
00:19:10.340 You have to, you have to change your opinion about your life. That's what's going on here.
00:19:15.240 At Chi-Fi, the fraternity that was preparing for a Halloween party,
00:19:19.580 Jane Doe was eager to attend. Text messages included in the investigation show one of the
00:19:24.460 guys assuring Jane Doe that he and the other fraternity members wanted her to be there.
00:19:28.340 So hold on. Right here, just that line alone. This woman, who is now way after the fact saying
00:19:36.420 she was raped, was upset in the week following the supposed rape because her supposed rapists
00:19:44.400 didn't invite her back to the scene of her supposed rape for another party? 0.91
00:19:50.720 totally absurd that line alone says whatever that was that was not a rape whatever that was
00:20:00.680 this woman did not think it was a rape up to whatever that was it was like the opposite of
00:20:06.000 a rape because she was so eager to go back the fraternity member responds kai fi is your house
00:20:12.500 you are welcome here he wrote relaying the views of the fraternity's president who is not among
00:20:17.220 those accused of sexual assault. Keep going. Thank you. I really appreciate that. Jane Doe
00:20:24.520 responded. Heart emoji. I'll bring my cigs tomorrow. Thank you. I'm so excited to come
00:20:30.180 back and I'll bring my cigs and I love you. Heart emoji. I love you. But then Jane Doe received a
00:20:35.640 phone call from the fraternity's president. According to the text messages, she was
00:20:39.180 disinvited from the party. It was for her own good, he said. What does that mean? It was for
00:20:45.040 her own good it might mean that it could mean really three things one and i think a very likely
00:20:54.660 contender all the guys felt weird about this too because it's a super weird thing that they did
00:21:00.140 and they felt ashamed and they felt embarrassed and they didn't they didn't want to relive that
00:21:06.700 they didn't want to recreate that certainly there's that two uh they they don't like her
00:21:14.280 They just, they used her, they got what they wanted, and now they want to cast her aside.
00:21:18.600 That's kind of related to number one because she kind of brings up this weird memory.
00:21:23.360 And then three, and I think this is heavily implied by what he's saying,
00:21:27.440 the word got out and people were going to be mean to her about it.
00:21:31.000 Maybe they were going to try to pull the same thing with her.
00:21:33.080 Maybe they were actually looking out for her own good
00:21:35.520 because they didn't want her to just be the piece of the meat at the party.
00:21:39.480 And certainly, I think we could conclude they didn't want her to just be the laughingstock
00:21:43.180 of this party. It's probably for your own good. After this thing that happened, after this like 0.98
00:21:45.920 really humiliating thing, you probably shouldn't come. At the very least, it's going to reflect
00:21:50.380 badly on us. I don't know. Maybe some of these guys were going after other girls at the party.
00:21:54.320 Whatever it is, the guy says, you can't come to the party. Jane Doe, according to the New York
00:21:59.080 Times, sent a biting text to this guy. I knew this was going to happen. Ah, very interesting message.
00:22:06.980 not only is she shocked you know that she she not she is not shocked in fact forget about not only
00:22:16.200 she is not shocked that she's been disinvited from this party she's not only disappointed
00:22:20.160 that she's disinvited from the party she suspected that would happen why because her conscience is
00:22:28.680 telling her that what she did is gross and depraved and what all the guys did is gross
00:22:33.260 and depraved. And it's not the sort of thing that one wants to really remember or relive.
00:22:39.460 That it was a shameful act. And so stigma and shame would follow it. And she would suffer
00:22:45.600 social consequences as a result. She knew that already before she got the text. I knew this was
00:22:52.640 going to happen, she wrote. The woman will always get the short end of the stick. Y'all aren't my 1.00
00:22:58.340 friends. Y'all are covering your derrieres. She doesn't say derrieres. We clean it up for a family 0.93
00:23:03.340 show, even as we're talking about the subject, which does not fit for a family show. By November
00:23:07.400 3rd, Jane Doe appears to have concluded that she was assaulted at the October party. She sent a 0.87
00:23:12.620 text to Mr. Newell. Is there any more of the reporting here? Let's be clear that 90% of what
00:23:18.020 happened that night was not consensual. I was given more key, I guess ketamine, than I can
00:23:22.600 remember. And I know that I told you I felt uncomfortable and I didn't know anyone in the
00:23:26.680 room. The text continued with her telling him that one of her only memories was doing ketamine
00:23:33.420 off of his appendage in front of everyone like a sex doll slash worker. Four days later on November 0.94
00:23:39.620 7th, according to the documents, Jane Doe went to an emergency room in Ithaca and requested a rape
00:23:44.900 kit. Okay. So one of these guys says after this is filed, so you have the supposed rape, then
00:23:54.020 over a week later, there's a party she wants to go to. She's told she can go to the party. She's
00:23:58.400 so excited. She can't wait to go back. Then she's told, actually, that was pretty weird. You know
00:24:02.280 what? Better if you don't come to the party. Then she says, okay, you guys raped me.
00:24:07.440 Then this guy says, according to the New York Times, I remember the girl in specific saying 0.96
00:24:12.460 something along the lines of this was normal in medieval times. So a guy comes into the room,
00:24:16.200 says, hey, what are you guys doing? Stop it. Knock it off. Get out of here. This is weird.
00:24:18.480 And she says, no, no, no. This was normal in medieval times. The guy says, when she then
00:24:23.260 approached him, allegedly, and tried to get him involved in the menage a wheat. I kind of took a
00:24:29.120 step back because I didn't want to engage in anything like sex. I thought it wasn't the time
00:24:32.320 for that. Lee later engaged in sexual contact with Doe. He asked her if she was comfortable
00:24:37.340 with what was happening, and she allegedly told him, quote, we're all consenting adults here,
00:24:41.260 according to the New York Times. Okay. I feel bad for the girl. I feel bad for the girl. I feel
00:24:48.980 really bad for the guys because their lives are being ruined, and her life is not being ruined
00:24:52.860 in the same way. Her social life at Cornell was being ruined, but her name is not being plastered
00:24:57.060 everywhere. These guys are losing their jobs and it's going to follow them for the rest of their
00:25:00.340 lives. And they all acted stupidly. But I feel bad for the girl here in that she clearly liked 1.00
00:25:09.080 one of the guys. And one of the guys was kind of a weirdo and wanted to bring another guy into this.
00:25:14.200 And she thought that it would impress him and ingratiate herself to him if she did that.
00:25:18.460 and then she clearly wanted to ingratiate herself
00:25:22.100 to all the other guys. 0.95
00:25:22.840 She was doing all this other stuff
00:25:24.040 and she was trying to be cool.
00:25:25.760 She was trying to be the cool girl
00:25:26.740 and act like one of the guys, 1.00
00:25:28.000 which was exactly what feminism tells you to do. 1.00
00:25:30.240 Tells women to engage in sex 1.00
00:25:31.760 in exactly the same way that men do 0.87
00:25:33.120 with the same kind of flippancy,
00:25:35.260 with the same attitudes
00:25:37.380 and with the same kinds of behaviors.
00:25:39.300 And then it doesn't work out
00:25:40.320 and she realizes there is a double standard.
00:25:42.280 It's not a double standard.
00:25:43.100 It's just that men and women are different.
00:25:44.220 And she realizes she's going to face
00:25:45.640 different social repercussions than the men are.
00:25:47.480 and so she doesn't know what to do
00:25:49.640 and she completely changes her tune 1.00
00:25:51.580 and calls it rape two weeks later. 1.00
00:25:54.020 Vocal distance, I think it was vocal distance,
00:25:55.640 our old pal Vocal Distance on the show
00:25:56.920 had a really good take on this.
00:25:58.640 He said the way that she might have convinced herself
00:26:02.600 that this was not consensual
00:26:04.160 is by understanding what she was consenting to.
00:26:09.320 He is, this is a little psychobabble,
00:26:11.100 but I think it's persuasive.
00:26:12.340 He's saying what she was consenting to
00:26:14.780 was being one of the guys.
00:26:18.640 And part of that was engaging 0.92
00:26:20.140 in this depraved sexual act 1.00
00:26:21.520 that a lot of girls wouldn't do. 1.00
00:26:23.080 And what she expected in return
00:26:25.060 was to be considered one of the guys,
00:26:26.940 to have their affection,
00:26:28.360 to be invited to their parties,
00:26:29.940 to be given special privileges
00:26:31.400 at their fraternity house.
00:26:32.800 That was the deal.
00:26:34.380 And in her mind,
00:26:35.680 they violated that deal.
00:26:37.100 They didn't treat her like one of the guys.
00:26:38.380 She's not one of the guys.
00:26:39.160 She's a girl.
00:26:40.560 And they didn't invite her back to the party.
00:26:42.540 and so there is a plausible way to say that what happened was not consensual in in this really
00:26:50.080 degraded perverse form of consent because this was an exchange that took place i will give you 0.80
00:26:55.780 my body for all these depraved things for the next seven hours but you need to let me into your club 0.81
00:27:00.900 and then they kicked her out of the club that legally has no merit it's a very perverse way
00:27:07.160 of thinking, but these are very perverse times that we're living in. I feel bad for the guys.
00:27:14.100 I feel bad for her. As I said, if I were this girl's father, I'd go and chop all their heads 0.99
00:27:17.180 off, but I'd at least want to. That would be wrong. It would be immoral. It'd be illegal, 0.99
00:27:21.260 but I'd certainly want to chop their heads off, consent or no consent. 0.99
00:27:25.660 But I feel bad for everyone involved because this is all very, very embarrassing. 0.99
00:27:30.740 And it's really sad.
00:27:32.500 Like the saddest thing for a romantic, such as myself,
00:27:35.720 is that in this kernel of the beginning of the story,
00:27:40.400 the girl has a crush on guy number one.
00:27:43.800 The girl has a crush on guy number one. 0.81
00:27:45.660 She wants to go hook up with guy number one.
00:27:47.640 And guy number one, a little bit of a weirdo,
00:27:49.980 says, can you bring, let's bring another guy into this.
00:27:53.800 What? Okay.
00:27:54.920 So the guys had no respect for this girl.
00:27:57.160 And the guys just wanted to treat her like a piece of meat. 0.99
00:27:59.560 maybe they'd watch too much porn or something. Probably this girl watched too much porn or 1.00
00:28:02.520 something. And so she says, okay, that's fine. You know, it reminds me of Brave New World by 0.95
00:28:07.680 Aldous Huxley, where the protagonist, John, wants to have a real romantic relationship.
00:28:13.700 But in the Brave New World society, it's the opposite of the George Orwell totalitarian
00:28:17.640 society. The George Orwell totalitarian society says, you're not allowed to have fun. You're not
00:28:23.640 you're not allowed to have luxuries you're not allowed to it's it's just entirely oppressive
00:28:29.020 with this heavy hand of the state whereas the aldous huxley brave new world dystopia says no
00:28:34.700 you get everything your heart desires it's just all perverse you get oh yeah you're gonna have 0.99
00:28:39.060 promiscuous sex all the time but you can't have meaningful sex yeah you're gonna get drugs all 0.99
00:28:43.040 the time but you can't do anything meaningful you can't do anything with purpose and so john 0.97
00:28:47.400 in Brave New World, wants to have a real romantic relationship. And Lenina doesn't know what to
00:28:55.740 make of that. She's kind of disgusted by it. This is what we do here. The social convention is we 0.63
00:29:00.040 just hook up and have meaningless, promiscuous sex. What? Whoa, slow your roll, buddy. 1.00
00:29:05.420 It's just so depraved. So at a legal level, these guys seems like they should get off the hook
00:29:13.520 and probably start suing for defamation,
00:29:15.900 suing press outlets.
00:29:16.900 I mean, this is going to ruin their lives.
00:29:19.020 They also need to reform themselves. 1.00
00:29:21.980 The girl needs to think deeply
00:29:25.200 about the real source of her anxiety and trauma.
00:29:27.880 I'm sure she is traumatized.
00:29:29.300 But she is traumatized by her own decisions,
00:29:32.680 by the carelessness with which the men think about sex
00:29:36.300 that she played into, 1.00
00:29:37.980 and by all the feminists in society 1.00
00:29:40.100 who are telling her to behave 1.00
00:29:42.780 in the way that she is behaving.
00:29:44.440 It's just everyone loses here,
00:29:46.800 but we can't, we lack the moral language
00:29:48.940 to speak about what actually happens.
00:29:50.580 So we have to pretend it's something that's not.
00:29:52.000 Okay, speaking of romance,
00:29:54.200 I want to move from whatever that was at Cornell
00:29:56.580 to marriage because there's a headline out.
00:30:00.040 I've one weird trick to increase your chances
00:30:04.340 of not getting divorced by 100%.
00:30:06.440 First, though, I want to tell you about GOP votes.
00:30:08.220 There's a lot more to say.
00:30:09.280 First, though, go to gopvotes.org.
00:30:11.500 The midterm elections are here.
00:30:13.200 If the DSA Democrats win, they will push a radical socialist agenda and drown President Trump in endless investigations.
00:30:20.540 We've seen their playbook before.
00:30:22.120 They tried impeaching him.
00:30:23.120 They tried putting him in prison.
00:30:24.720 They've tried everything.
00:30:25.640 Do not let them win, because if we lose, they will undo everything our movement has fought for.
00:30:29.800 I need you to vote early.
00:30:31.820 You can bank your vote and fight back against the left's turnout machine.

00:31:44.340 Great study, very important study.
00:31:46.060 One weird trick.
00:31:46.880 People are putting off getting married.
00:31:48.540 They're worried about getting married,
00:31:49.700 especially Gen Z and millennials
00:31:50.860 because all our parents are divorced.
00:31:52.720 The birth rate's down.
00:31:54.180 The whole society's crumbling.
00:31:55.520 Well, here's one weird trick to not get divorced. 1.00
00:31:58.720 Ladies, take your husband's last name. 1.00
00:32:00.980 study out from the Institute for Family Studies, married couples with different surnames 0.81
00:32:06.820 divorce at a 50% higher rate. And they make it an average of just eight to 10 years before filing
00:32:15.780 for divorce, according to an analysis from the IFS. So the couples where the woman doesn't take 0.97
00:32:25.980 the man's last name, they get divorced at a way, way higher rate than the couples where the woman
00:32:29.980 does take the man's last name, and they get divorced even sooner. It's not that when the
00:32:35.180 couple has the same last name, they don't ever get divorced, but the couples that have the
00:32:40.300 different last names, they get divorced a lot more, and they do it a lot sooner.
00:32:43.880 So in America, 79% of women take the husband's last name. And yet, not taking the husband's
00:32:51.120 last name is a great predictor of divorce. It's not, though, just looking at divorce.
00:32:55.920 The Institute for Family Studies shows that couples where the wife takes the man's last name
00:33:00.900 are happier in every way, in every measure. Overall relationship happiness, quality of
00:33:08.080 community together, how well you share tasks, level of commitment, sexual relationship.
00:33:13.180 They're just happier in every way. Why is that? It is because to take the husband's last name
00:33:21.400 is to affirm the permanence of marriage.
00:33:25.060 That's what it is. 0.87
00:33:27.240 It's why having a prenup increases your chances of divorce.
00:33:31.660 It's not that the prenup itself possesses a magical power
00:33:35.140 that increases your chances of divorce.
00:33:36.740 It's that the prenup is a sign
00:33:39.480 that you are open to the possibility of divorce.
00:33:42.740 I am not open to the possibility of divorce.
00:33:45.320 I won't do it.
00:33:46.780 I'm Catholic.
00:33:48.020 My church tells me I can't get divorced.
00:33:49.660 I certainly don't want to get divorced,
00:33:50.880 but I would sooner be struck dead than divorce my wife. In some cases, in extreme examples of
00:33:58.940 danger or abuse, there might be some cause for a separation or even a civil divorce.
00:34:04.500 But as pertains to the nature of marriage itself, I don't think divorce is even possible.
00:34:10.360 Ain't going to do it. If you have a disagreement with your wife or your husband,
00:34:13.780 my view is the only way out is through. You're in it, so you better figure it out.
00:34:17.600 And when you believe that, when you approach marriage that way, you're going to treat
00:34:23.060 disagreements differently because you're stuck together, bud. You can't afford lingering
00:34:31.360 tension, nasty words, unpleasant living situations because there's no way out. So that's going to
00:34:37.180 change the tone with which you speak to your wife. That's going to change the issues that
00:34:40.920 you bring up. That's going to change the seriousness with which you're going to try
00:34:44.520 to fix marital problems. And the last name is just part of that. If a woman goes through the effort
00:34:49.420 of changing her name on all of her legal documents and changing her name to all of 1.00
00:34:53.940 her friends and changing a part of how she identifies herself, she's going to be less 1.00
00:35:00.080 likely to divorce. Do it. It's one weird trick. We live in this real psychobabble age where we 1.00
00:35:06.240 just all try to examine ourselves and find our true, authentic, psychological impulses and blah,
00:35:10.440 blah, blah, blah. Life can be simpler than that. Just like do the right thing. Just like do those
00:35:18.040 things. Even if you don't want to do those things, do those things enough and your will will start
00:35:22.860 to change. Your perception, your introspection will start to change and you will want to do
00:35:27.500 those things. Humans are very complex creatures in so many ways. In other ways, we're pretty
00:35:32.200 simple creatures. We're creatures of habit. We're creatures that are bodies as well as souls.
00:35:36.220 and when you just do this stuff enough, it happens.
00:35:39.860 Some of the best advice I ever got
00:35:41.500 from someone who's been married for a while.
00:35:44.240 What's the best way not to get divorced?
00:35:46.020 Sorry, what's the best way to have,
00:35:47.140 I blew the punchline.
00:35:48.080 What's the best way to have a long marriage? 0.96
00:35:49.440 Don't get divorced. 1.00
00:35:50.220 That's it.
00:35:51.420 If you start out from the beginning saying
00:35:52.680 we're not going to get divorced,
00:35:53.680 turns out you're less likely to get divorced.
00:35:55.520 Okay, turning to people who are not married,
00:35:57.280 Senator Scott Weiner.
00:35:58.760 You know Scott Weiner,
00:35:59.480 he's that state senator in California.
00:36:01.200 His most famous, infamous political accomplishment 0.99
00:36:03.220 is reducing the punishments for pederasts, 0.98
00:36:06.560 grown men who rape little boys.
00:36:08.320 He is a member of the LGBT LMNOP community, Scott Wiener. 0.99
00:36:11.960 He has these real hangups 0.77
00:36:13.380 on just constantly pushing weird sex stuff onto minors.
00:36:16.560 That is his raison d'etre in politics.
00:36:19.440 Well, now he wants to leave the state legislature
00:36:21.220 and take over Nancy Pelosi's seat in Congress.
00:36:25.000 He is as lib as they come.
00:36:27.540 He's as Democrat as they come. 0.99
00:36:29.380 He's a total freak, 0.99
00:36:30.800 something deeply wrong with that guy. 0.63
00:36:32.360 and he is on CNN because the left wing doesn't like him and they don't like him. You couldn't
00:36:39.600 wish this on a nicer guy. The left wing doesn't like him because despite being super left on
00:36:44.340 everything, he's a Jew and he's a very anti-Israel Jew. He accuses the state of Israel of committing 0.89
00:36:51.440 genocide in Gaza. He parrots all the lines about how terrible Israel is, but he's a Jew 0.99
00:36:57.780 and they don't like him for it? 1.00
00:37:02.260 Well, what I will say is
00:37:04.600 2026 is not, shall we say,
00:37:07.440 an easy year to be a progressive Jew
00:37:09.840 running for Congress.
00:37:11.400 And we have seen Jewish candidates,
00:37:13.580 Jewish elected officials
00:37:14.620 be targeted here in San Francisco
00:37:16.380 and around the country
00:37:18.020 and held to a different standard
00:37:20.300 than non-Jewish candidates
00:37:22.520 with similar positions.
00:37:24.740 And so it is an issue.
00:37:25.780 Jewish candidates, Jewish elected officials, not just me, others as well, have been getting
00:37:31.020 targeted for several years now. And that needs to stop. I have no problem being held accountable
00:37:37.480 for anything I do or say or propose or don't do or say. That's democracy. And I have hard
00:37:43.440 conversations with my constituents all the time. But when it rises to the level of straight up
00:37:49.000 harassment and intimidation and assault, that crosses the line. And particularly when you're
00:37:54.460 only targeting certain elected officials and candidates, specifically Jewish elected officials
00:38:00.260 and candidates. Can I say it? That's probably the only time I'm ever going to say it.
00:38:06.040 Scott Wiener is totally right here. He's totally, this is a crazy thing to say about your own party
00:38:10.920 in a midterm election year when your party seems to have the political winds in its sails. He is
00:38:16.380 coming out and he's saying, yep, my party hates Jews. I, a Jew, am a member of my party. I want 0.97
00:38:25.180 you all to go out and vote for my party. But a lot of my party hates me because I'm a Jew,
00:38:31.360 because my party hates Jews. Vote for my party. I'm a Jew. That is a crazy thing to say in a 0.97
00:38:40.260 midterm election year. That's a crazy thing to say in any year. But he's totally right.
00:38:46.800 Anti-Semitism rises up throughout the ages. Probably it will until the end of time.
00:38:51.060 It comes up. It's not confined to one political ideology or another. It's risen up in parts of
00:38:55.960 the right. No question. It's an issue of the left. It is chiefly an issue of the left. It's
00:39:01.420 without question, incomparably more pronounced on the left. That is a crazy indictment of his
00:39:08.740 own party. And he is entirely right about it. Well, some races draw attention. Others become
00:39:14.300 the race everyone watches. In Texas, James Tallarico and Ken Paxton are facing off in one
00:39:19.460 of Calci's most traded midterm markets. Follow the race in real time on Calci and then trade
00:39:25.020 on the candidate you think is going to win. Each correct contract is worth $1 at settlement.
00:39:30.140 Don't just follow the midterms. Trade what happens next on Calci. Use code DAILY, D-A-I-L-Y,
00:39:35.540 to get up to $25 when you trade $25. 0.71
00:39:38.740 That's Kalshi, K-A-L-S-H-I, Kalshi.

00:40:00.140 Okay, before we get to the mailbag,
00:40:01.660 my favorite comment yesterday is from Rusted Echoes,
00:40:04.360 who says,
00:40:05.540 Daily Wire in two years, run, hide, fight, first class.
00:40:10.220 Oh, because of the fly Dubai plane
00:40:11.760 where the Israelis stopped the terrorists on the airplane.
00:40:14.740 Okay, you know what?
00:40:15.400 That's fine.
00:40:17.000 But no, I'm going to do you one better.
00:40:20.020 If the Daily Wire executives
00:40:21.740 are watching this show right now,
00:40:23.460 they're probably not, but if they were,
00:40:25.180 someone send this to the Daily Wire executives.
00:40:28.300 I want you to take out your checkbooks.
00:40:30.300 I want you to write down $1 million
00:40:33.300 dollars paid to the order of Michael Knowles. You got that? Is that written down? You ready for it?
00:40:41.800 Run, hide, flight. You like that? Run, hide, flight. That's a pun. Million dollars, please.
00:40:55.720 Where is my, I'm going to be refreshing my bank account on send it over here. You're welcome.
00:41:02.500 You're welcome.
00:41:04.060 All the things, all the things I've done for this company over the run, hide, flight,
00:41:09.620 you're going to watch it.
00:41:11.040 It's good.
00:41:12.940 Our mailbag is sponsored by Pure Talk.
00:41:14.800 Go to puretalk.com slash Knowles today to join my wireless company.
00:41:18.780 Take it away.
00:41:19.960 Hi, Michael.
00:41:20.820 Ryan from South Dakota here, responding to your conversation with Dr. Johnston concerning
00:41:24.480 Noah's Ark.
00:41:25.440 Of course, it's absurd to suggest that it's literally been found, but I would suggest
00:41:28.940 the possibility there's something more nefarious going on in the reporting of it than just over
00:41:33.040 excitement on a big story. I would suggest the media knows it's dumb and still reports it with 0.97
00:41:37.620 passion and a slow game of demoralization by attempting to get earnest seekers of Christ 0.95
00:41:42.020 excited knowing the wrong is going to be pulled away pretty soon. This has been done before with
00:41:46.680 such things as the real location of the Garden of Eden or Sodom and Gomorrah or real pieces of
00:41:50.820 the real crucifix or whatever. Scam folks enough times and in theory you can get enough people to
00:41:55.440 question if any of the faith is literally true. And then the next thing you know, you have people
00:41:59.320 joining churches like Tallarico's where perhaps even Jesus himself didn't exist at all. If you
00:42:04.260 can convince confused people that Jesus wasn't actually real or actually divine, then you can
00:42:08.580 convince them that what's really important is the political message in the Jesus legend,
00:42:12.740 which is of course whatever leftist wacko message they're selling in the moment. Curious to know
00:42:17.420 what you think. Thanks. It's an interesting theory, but you're giving them too much credit. I don't
00:42:21.900 think they're that sophisticated. I think it's just sensationalism. I think they know I'll get
00:42:25.820 a lot of clicks and a lot of people will talk about it, including me, which is true. It worked
00:42:29.460 and they get clicks. I think that's what it's about. Plenty of people in the media hate God
00:42:34.300 and religion and the faithful. And that's true. But the simpler answers are sometimes more 0.82
00:42:40.680 persuasive. The only other correction I'll give you there. Yes, claims that we've discovered the
00:42:46.480 Garden of Eden or something are pretty silly. I am fairly convinced about pieces of the true cross.
00:42:53.740 And I know a lot of modern people, they don't buy a lot of relics. They say, oh, there's no way
00:42:58.160 that Constantine's mother could have discovered the true cross all the way back. Oh my goodness,
00:43:04.200 in what, the fourth century? There's no way. There's no way that she discovered the site of
00:43:08.320 Jesus's tomb. That actually, by modern archaeology, does seem to have been affirmed just a few weeks
00:43:12.400 ago. But yeah, I kind of buy it. I don't know for sure. Some relics are not legitimate. I mean,
00:43:17.420 there are two skulls of St. Thomas Aquinas that are available for veneration. And he was a smart
00:43:23.600 guy. So people say he needed two skulls for all his brains. But probably one of those skulls is
00:43:28.120 not legitimate. So yeah, some relics are probably not legit. But a lot of them are. The thing about
00:43:33.520 Christians is we're pretty big on keeping stuff. The faith, the tradition, artifacts, relics. 0.99
00:43:43.840 I mean, don't forget the martyrdom of Polycarp. Polycarp, who was a disciple of John the Apostle.
00:43:48.480 The martyrdom of Polycarp describes the early Christians collecting all of his bones after
00:43:53.740 the pagans burned him up. And they just kept the bones. And I don't think they just threw
00:43:59.600 them out. I don't think they sold them in a garage sale or something like that. So anyway,
00:44:03.780 I'm pretty relic built. I do buy it, as I explained on the show earlier this week.
00:44:07.800 But no, I don't think it's sophisticated because your faith doesn't rest on, your faith isn't
00:44:11.600 going to rest on the provenance of some relic or another. And my faith certainly doesn't rest on
00:44:17.380 whether or not they find the Noah's Ark or something like that. I just think that the
00:44:21.520 journalists want to, they want to play on people who are a little gullible and credulous and make
00:44:26.060 of money, but their attacks on religion are blunter and less sophisticated than that. Next
00:44:31.480 question. Okay, three things today. Number one, who is gatekeeping the Christian community? Because
00:44:39.180 if Tallarico says that, or his parish, quote unquote parish, says that Jesus Christ didn't
00:44:46.420 exist, how can they be Christian? Like who's saying, no, you can't actually be claimed to
00:44:51.780 be christian if you don't believe in christ that he was a person that is like that's a question
00:44:57.200 that i have second um i don't like all the jacob fat shaming that's like all of us in the chat we
00:45:05.420 have radio faces and we're probably just as chubby if not more so i don't like that also i'm a female 0.99
00:45:12.000 and women can historically not ever uh like give each other crap because it's just we take it 0.87
00:45:20.420 Personally, I'm just very uncomfortable. 0.94
00:45:22.620 I don't like it.
00:45:23.440 Jacob, you're fine.
00:45:25.000 Thirdly, let's just do a quick 0.77
00:45:26.660 Hail Mary for your wife 1.00
00:45:27.580 because you have a married baby.
00:45:29.560 Hail Mary, full of grace.
00:45:30.640 The Lord is with thee.
00:45:31.260 Blessed are thou among women
00:45:32.120 and blessed are the fruits.
00:45:32.900 I am Jesus, Holy Mary, and the Father of God.
00:45:34.660 Pray for us and sinners
00:45:35.180 now at the hour of death.
00:45:35.880 Amen.
00:45:37.000 Wow, great, great mailbag question overall.
00:45:41.480 Let's take them in order. 0.98
00:45:43.620 Who is gatekeeping Christianity? 0.99
00:45:45.060 I guess it's supposed to be the Pope, right? 0.98
00:45:47.300 Again, the bishops and all.
00:45:48.660 yeah and but tallarico he's a member of he's not just a presbyterian he's a member of pc usa i think
00:45:54.640 which is the super duper lib gay variation offshoot of presbyterianism so they're not paying much
00:46:03.700 attention to the pope i guess but yeah i agree that's pretty crazy as to the jacob fat shaming 0.94
00:46:07.760 i'm afraid to tell you it will continue until morale improves you're right though women can't
00:46:13.660 first of all i don't think any of you have radio faces and you in particular you have this lovely
00:46:18.040 voice. And so I refuse to hear any self-effacing comments about your appearance or any appearance
00:46:25.420 in the creme de la creme. All the negative comments have to be about Jacob's appearance.
00:46:30.340 But yes, you're right. Women hate it when guys give each other grief. I remember one time in
00:46:34.560 college, I didn't go to Cornell. I didn't go to Cornell, but we were hanging out in our suite,
00:46:39.440 a few guys, like five guys living together. One of us brought a girl over and the girl was
00:46:44.780 horrified because you know my college pretty liberal place and they hear all of us talking 1.00
00:46:49.640 and we're calling you fat stupid idiot no you dummy well you big dumb we were pretty rough on 1.00
00:46:54.800 each other you know and the girl had no idea how to interpret it we were very close we were all 1.00
00:47:00.780 very good friends and she had no idea how to interpret she goes why are you all so mean to
00:47:04.740 each other and i said what oh it's because you've never been around guys because the guys that she
00:47:09.500 was hanging out with were these lib, you know, kind of a little more, little more on the soy
00:47:14.740 boy level of the way that they spoke. They spoke in a more effeminate way. And we were the more 0.98
00:47:19.120 conservative guys in the campus. And so we talked to each other like men do. And she was horrified
00:47:23.840 by it. And on the third point, thank you very much for the Hail Mary. Appreciate the Aves from
00:47:27.740 everybody out there. As sweet little Alisa approaches, I think we're now 58 months into
00:47:32.660 pregnancy. So any day now. Next question. Good morning, Michael. This is Arun. So I wanted to
00:47:38.740 clarify why precisely I hate Beau Francis Scott's. I don't hate him because he's generally racist.
00:47:43.940 I think that racism is really funny. I hate him because he's specifically racist against Indians. 0.97
00:47:49.780 Now, we are a fairly inert ethnic group. We don't commit any crimes. We aren't on welfare. 0.57
00:47:55.820 And I don't think any of us own guns. I'm the only Indian that I know of who owns firearms.
00:48:02.660 So we're not going to be committing any violent uprisings anytime soon.
00:48:06.240 the only offenses that i can think of that we've committed against beau french are that we are
00:48:11.480 smarter than him and to call his jobs and i don't mean white people generally i just mean beau
00:48:15.960 french specifically who probably never made it to multivariable calculus and also we have religious
00:48:22.160 traditions that deviate strongly from his own so given that indians are only two percent of the
00:48:29.180 population of texas wouldn't that make him literally hitler i'll see myself out not out
00:48:36.180 of the country just out of the voicemail bag i can't i don't know that i could respond in any
00:48:44.620 way that would add to arun's question was there a question yeah the question is is he literally
00:48:50.080 hitler that's true and i i like your point where you say hey i hate this guy not because he's racist
00:48:56.100 because racism is generally funny, 0.57
00:48:58.500 but because he's racist against my group in particular.
00:49:02.340 And to your point on the endophilia,
00:49:06.600 I agree.
00:49:07.280 This is where I say,
00:49:09.100 I don't know,
00:49:09.600 this is one place I'm really out of step
00:49:11.620 with the online right
00:49:13.120 because maybe it's because I'm a New Yorker,
00:49:15.720 maybe because I don't know,
00:49:16.440 but I have a particular affection
00:49:18.820 for Jews and Indians.
00:49:21.900 I've been to India twice.
00:49:23.380 I love India.
00:49:23.700 I play the sitar.
00:49:25.060 One of my best friends,
00:49:26.100 is indian of many years and i just i love indian food and so i'm totally out of step i don't know 1.00
00:49:31.720 my numbers would go up on social media if i hated the jews and the indians in particular
00:49:35.340 but i don't i like them in particular it's very very frustrating for me very hard for me okay uh 0.69
00:49:42.460 last mailbag question hey michael this is devin uh this is my first voicemail bag i sent in anyway
00:49:48.500 i had two questions related to your show on monday just about the holy relics and uh the
00:49:54.280 resurrection uh i was thinking about this differently i'm lds and uh the two thoughts
00:49:58.840 i had on this was would uh holy relics like the jawbone of that bishop wouldn't that be kind of
00:50:05.200 desecration of the body uh the second question so that would be kind of outlawed by uh christ's
00:50:10.700 gospel at least that's my thoughts on that and then the second question i had about cremation
00:50:14.820 is that there have been so many people that have been cremated if god is all powerful wouldn't he
00:50:18.920 be able to piece them together with uh so that they can be resurrected so i don't see really see
00:50:24.760 an issue with that either uh as long as like um they're doing it for the right reasons and not to
00:50:30.540 mock uh the resurrection like you said anyway happy to hear your thoughts on that thank you
00:50:34.860 okay yeah really good questions uh no i was on your first point is this desecration to have
00:50:41.200 physical relics you know to take a piece of a bone or something from a dead body uh no it wouldn't be
00:50:46.900 desecration just by definition, because the relics are to be venerated. So, you can't
00:50:53.260 simultaneously venerate and desecrate a thing. Those are opposites. So, because they are for
00:50:59.640 veneration, they are not being desecrated. If they're being thrown in the river or something,
00:51:03.240 then I guess that would be desecration. In terms of the second point, is this outlawed by the
00:51:10.280 gospel? I don't think so. The early Christians didn't think so. I can't think of a verse that
00:51:13.940 would outlaw that. You do see relics in the New Testament, especially in the book of Acts.
00:51:20.680 So, and then in the very early Christian tradition, like the aforementioned martyrdom of Polycarp.
00:51:25.200 So, no, I don't see that being outlawed. And then on cremation, can God piece back together
00:51:29.640 people who are cremated? Yes, of course. The issue with cremation is not that God can't
00:51:34.500 resurrect someone who is burned rather than whose body decays in the grave. You're going to turn to
00:51:40.880 dust in the grave too. It's more what you are signifying by the act. So it is notable that
00:51:47.320 pagan cultures, modern and ancient, cremated bodies. That is one of the hallmarks of a pagan 0.99
00:51:55.480 culture. The Christian culture, as it existed for about 2,000 years, did not cremate bodies 0.88
00:52:01.660 as a general rule. Sometimes there were extenuating circumstances.
00:52:05.660 Then in the modern era, as we have de-Christianized, as there have been attacks on the church 0.72
00:52:10.580 and on Christianity, you see the growth of cremation again. Because what the act, it's not
00:52:17.540 that the act prevents God from resurrecting the body. It's that what it signifies is a lower 0.81
00:52:23.580 opinion of the body. And in antiquity, one of the issues that Paul had when he was preaching to the
00:52:30.400 pagans is that people believed in a kind of resurrection of the spirit or something like
00:52:35.720 that. But they viewed the body as like a prison. So that our true selves are these immaterial
00:52:41.500 substances within the body. You see this kind of pagan idea today. When Robin Williams killed
00:52:45.760 himself, you remember the Oscars tweeted out, very controversial. They said,
00:52:48.960 genie, you're free. They eventually deleted it. It's a very scandalous thing to say. And yet it's
00:52:54.020 very common in human history. This idea that our true selves are not the body, that the body is
00:52:57.620 evil, that matter is evil. These crop up in heresies and pagan ideas all the time. But that's
00:53:03.560 not what Christians believe. We think that we are our bodies and our souls. So one of the things
00:53:09.600 that distinguishes Christianity from other beliefs is we don't just believe in some kind of spiritual
00:53:14.640 resurrection. We don't believe in just becoming one with the spirit or reincarnation even. We
00:53:20.560 believe that our bodies will be resurrected. And so how you dispose of your body, how you treat
00:53:26.580 your body when you shuffle off this mortal coil matters. It signifies something about what you
00:53:33.020 believe. If you bury the body, if you entomb the body, that's one thing. And if you just burn the
00:53:37.920 body up, it conveys a kind of disrespect. You're probably not venerating those bones. You're
00:53:44.320 probably not venerating those ashes. What it signifies is the body doesn't really matter
00:53:51.180 that much and our true selves are somewhere else. So that's the problem. It's not about what God can
00:53:57.040 do. You're not limiting God in any way. It's about what you are saying and what that means for all
00:54:01.760 of us and how that shapes what all of us believe. Okay. It's Fake Headline Friday. The rest of the
