00:00:30.780 Federal prosecutors have charged nearly 50 people

00:00:33.880 in a college admissions scandal

00:00:35.840 that involves wealthy parents and celebrities

00:00:38.360 bribing testing companies and colleges

00:00:41.260 to get their kids into elite universities,

00:00:44.240 including Stanford, Georgetown, and of course, dear old Yale.

00:00:48.560 We will explain why the big college bust was inevitable.

00:00:52.700 Then Media Matters takes another shot at Tucker Carlson,

00:00:56.000 the Greenpeace co-founder,

00:00:58.140 says that the Green New Deal would end civilization.

00:01:01.220 And Nancy Pelosi finally comes out against impeachment.

00:01:05.740 I'm Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:01:14.360 This is basically breaking news.

00:01:16.740 It's within about the last hour that this has come out.

00:01:19.420 The biggest scandal ever to face American higher education.

00:01:25.980 It was so predictable.

00:01:27.780 We knew it was going to happen.

00:01:29.420 There are a lot of victims here.

00:01:30.900 There are basically only victims here.

00:01:32.920 We will explain in great detail the path forward,

00:01:36.660 how to avoid things like this in the future.

00:03:05.220 Zip Recruiter,

00:03:06.420 the smartest way to hire.

00:03:08.860 Now, today, these days,

00:03:13.860 if you want to get a job,

00:03:15.500 everyone tells you you need a college degree.

00:03:18.260 Everyone needs to go to college.

00:03:19.540 Everyone needs to go to a four-year college.

00:03:21.140 Everyone needs to go to the same colleges.

00:03:23.300 That's what we have been told.

00:03:25.320 And this lie has led to the largest scandal ever

00:03:31.000 in American higher education.

00:03:33.420 This scandal is huge.

00:03:34.680 It includes business leaders.

00:03:35.820 It includes, you know, captains of industry, whatever.

00:03:41.760 This is a really big deal.

00:03:43.780 This includes Lori Loughlin.

00:03:46.120 Lori Loughlin was on Full House.

00:03:48.600 This includes Felicity Huffman.

00:03:50.260 Felicity Huffman was on Desperate Housewives.

00:03:52.940 Parents apparently paid consultants

00:03:54.980 $25 million from 2011 through this year

00:04:00.020 to cheat the system

00:04:01.480 and get their kids into these schools.

00:04:03.900 So, what is going on?

00:04:07.020 When I saw this,

00:04:08.220 you know, I don't watch Desperate Housewives.

00:04:10.500 I don't, you know, tune in every night.

00:04:12.180 But I've heard the name Felicity Huffman. 0.99

00:04:13.700 I thought, why on earth

00:04:15.040 would a well-known celebrity actress 0.99

00:04:18.080 get involved in such assorted crimes such as this?

00:04:23.000 And the reason is obvious.

00:04:24.840 Because these college degrees

00:04:27.960 really, really matter in our society.

00:04:30.900 These college degrees,

00:04:32.640 especially at elite universities,

00:04:34.640 carry a ton of weight in the society.

00:04:37.760 They're incredibly valuable.

00:04:39.380 And so parents who want to give their kids a leg up

00:04:41.480 will do anything they can

00:04:43.500 to get their kids in there. 0.99

00:04:44.940 But at the same time,

00:04:45.900 there's a flip side to this,

00:04:47.160 which is that people got away

00:04:49.840 with cheating their way into these schools.

00:04:52.300 They got away with it for years.

00:04:53.700 Now, what are we on the eighth year of this?

00:04:55.240 Because it's a lot harder to get in

00:04:59.120 than it is to stay in.

00:05:00.720 I know this just from personal experience.

00:05:02.660 You know, I wasn't on college all that long ago.

00:05:05.780 And it is very hard to get into Yale.

00:05:08.640 It was very hard.

00:05:09.380 You need basically perfect SATs,

00:05:11.060 valedictorian, top of the, you know, whatever.

00:05:13.200 You need to have, check every box,

00:05:14.800 class president, all these things.

00:05:15.900 It's very, very hard.

00:05:17.320 Parents put their kids through all these study courses,

00:05:20.260 SAT prep courses.

00:05:21.700 They do a zillion extracurriculars.

00:05:23.380 I did all these things.

00:05:26.360 And even then, it's very hard to get in.

00:05:28.200 Once you get in, however,

00:05:29.840 it's a lot easier to stay in.

00:05:32.820 So you can, I mean, these days,

00:05:34.380 it's still hard, I guess, to get an A.

00:05:36.460 But to get an A minus or a B plus is pretty easy.

00:05:39.320 It's actually probably hard to get a C.

00:05:41.940 I never got anything below a B, I don't think.

00:05:45.040 I don't think, I certainly never got a C

00:05:46.960 in my entire time in college.

00:05:49.300 And it's not because I was paying attention

00:05:51.460 in class all the time.

00:05:52.340 When I was in college,

00:05:53.440 I was doing a zillion extracurricular activities.

00:05:55.880 I was off campus a lot doing politics.

00:05:58.100 And still, it's very hard

00:06:00.120 because there is great inflation.

00:06:01.880 They protect you once you're in.

00:06:03.380 They want to make sure they have a high graduation rate.

00:06:05.700 So these kids,

00:06:06.540 who didn't even get the high SAT score,

00:06:09.180 they just cheated their way in.

00:06:10.420 They were able to stay in them.

00:06:12.620 It means that higher education

00:06:14.440 has become an empty husk

00:06:16.300 of what it once was.

00:06:18.720 It's largely a facade.

00:06:20.360 So there are a lot of questions that are raised.

00:06:23.720 First of all,

00:06:24.820 is it just these kids?

00:06:26.360 I don't think it's just these kids who cheated.

00:06:28.820 That's not the only knock

00:06:30.700 against the meritocratic college system we have.

00:06:33.140 What about athletes?

00:06:34.460 One way, actually,

00:06:35.680 that these kids were cheating to get in

00:06:37.360 is that the parents would pay these consultants

00:06:40.160 to bribe coaches

00:06:41.880 at all of these elite universities.

00:06:43.800 the coaches would pretend

00:06:45.880 that they were recruiting the kids for athletics.

00:06:48.320 They'd pocket the money

00:06:49.380 or they'd give the money

00:06:50.140 to the school's athletic program.

00:06:51.740 Then the kids would get to the school

00:06:53.180 and then all of a sudden

00:06:54.660 they would drop out of the sport.

00:06:56.560 Because at these elite universities,

00:06:58.160 you don't actually have to play the sport

00:07:00.100 once you're there.

00:07:01.000 I remember this from Yale.

00:07:02.000 I had a good friend at Yale.

00:07:02.940 He was recruited for football.

00:07:04.740 He comes over to Yale

00:07:05.680 and he decides he wants to

00:07:07.280 become a serious scholar.

00:07:10.000 He wants to really devote all of his time

00:07:11.640 to classics and to thinking.

00:07:13.640 I guess it's sort of the opposite of this scam.

00:07:15.600 It's the opposite of these kids.

00:07:16.720 He actually wanted to become

00:07:17.520 much more academically rigorous.

00:07:19.340 So I think his freshman year,

00:07:20.560 he quit the football team.

00:07:21.720 Doesn't matter.

00:07:22.420 Because at these elite schools,

00:07:23.980 your scholarship,

00:07:25.200 your financial aid,

00:07:26.020 your whatever,

00:07:26.480 is not tied to athletics.

00:07:29.280 So you get in for football or whatever.

00:07:32.240 They lower the academic standards for you.

00:07:33.980 And then you quit football immediately.

00:07:36.440 So, okay, that's one aspect of it.

00:07:38.500 But let's not also forget

00:07:39.760 that very often,

00:07:42.900 the super rich,

00:07:44.180 not just the very rich,

00:07:45.600 not just these parents,

00:07:46.800 not just the Felicity Huffman rich,

00:07:48.240 but the super duper rich,

00:07:49.720 the captains of industry,

00:07:51.660 they just buy their kids' way 0.86

00:07:52.800 into the schools

00:07:53.400 by building a dormitory

00:07:55.040 or building a lecture hall or something.

00:07:57.980 And so once they do that,

00:07:59.640 they give $100 million or something,

00:08:01.360 $50 million donation.

00:08:03.300 How come that's not cheating,

00:08:04.840 but this is cheating?

00:08:06.320 Well,

00:08:07.780 in part,

00:08:08.620 it's because at least the rich people

00:08:09.920 are honest about it.

00:08:11.020 They're saying,

00:08:11.460 here's my check,

00:08:12.260 here's my money,

00:08:12.840 you can all see that I donated to it.

00:08:14.860 My name is on the front of the building there

00:08:16.780 and my kid happens to go here,

00:08:18.200 you do the math.

00:08:19.980 One thing that these parents were doing

00:08:21.460 was cheating.

00:08:22.040 They were pretending that their kids

00:08:23.560 passed all of the academic rigor.

00:08:25.740 They were pretending

00:08:26.360 that the kids

00:08:27.480 merited their place

00:08:29.720 at the university.

00:08:31.420 Now,

00:08:32.300 I've heard that at a lot of elite schools,

00:08:35.140 it's basically 50-50.

00:08:36.700 50% athletes and legacies,

00:08:38.760 people whose parents went to the school,

00:08:40.380 and then 50% got in

00:08:41.780 on their own academic merit.

00:08:43.780 And,

00:08:44.160 I've got to tell you something.

00:08:46.880 This is one aspect of college

00:08:49.700 that I really liked.

00:08:50.800 It's something that

00:08:51.720 I think is losing cachet in America,

00:08:56.460 but it's very important,

00:08:57.600 which is that,

00:08:58.560 because I didn't come from

00:09:00.100 a super wealthy family,

00:09:01.820 I didn't know that Felicity Huffman 1.00

00:09:03.160 could have bought my way into college,

00:09:04.480 so I legitimately

00:09:07.940 had the privilege

00:09:09.460 of considering myself

00:09:10.560 in the people in college

00:09:11.960 who merited getting in academically.

00:09:15.000 Studied for the tests,

00:09:16.200 got good grades on the tests,

00:09:17.340 got good grades in school,

00:09:18.180 I got to be there.

00:09:18.940 That gives you a feeling of self-worth.

00:09:20.780 That gives you a feeling of confidence.

00:09:22.480 That gives you a feeling of belonging,

00:09:25.320 of not being lesser than.

00:09:27.500 And for these kids

00:09:28.460 who got in because

00:09:30.180 mommy cheated, 1.00

00:09:32.200 they don't have that feeling.

00:09:34.480 I mean, even people

00:09:35.360 who do it the old-fashioned way

00:09:37.340 where daddy buys a building

00:09:38.460 or something,

00:09:39.640 they don't have that feeling as much.

00:09:41.140 When I got into college,

00:09:42.260 I had a family friend say to me,

00:09:44.320 Michael, you ought to be really proud.

00:09:45.620 And I said, oh, you know,

00:09:46.740 people get into good colleges

00:09:47.800 all the time.

00:09:48.740 And he said, right.

00:09:50.980 But for my kids,

00:09:51.800 I wrote a check.

00:09:53.340 And your parents

00:09:54.500 didn't write a check.

00:09:55.400 I said, you know,

00:09:55.780 that actually,

00:09:56.380 that does make you feel good.

00:09:57.840 When you earn something,

00:09:59.400 it feels a lot better

00:10:00.380 than when something

00:10:00.940 is just handed to you.

00:10:03.100 And this is true,

00:10:03.740 not just of the admissions,

00:10:05.060 but of the whole college process now.

00:10:08.660 This is the whole thing.

00:10:09.860 I mean, you just see

00:10:10.560 the tail wagging the dog

00:10:11.840 in every way.

00:10:13.140 Why are the colleges

00:10:14.300 prioritizing athletics

00:10:15.740 over scholarship?

00:10:17.700 Why are they prioritizing

00:10:19.200 pulling in money

00:10:20.080 over pulling in

00:10:21.280 the best students and scholars?

00:10:23.540 Why are the parents

00:10:24.520 so desperate

00:10:25.100 to get their kids

00:10:25.840 into these schools?

00:10:26.520 This is, I think,

00:10:30.380 a problem

00:10:30.900 of an overly

00:10:32.020 democratic culture.

00:10:33.540 Because in this culture,

00:10:35.500 in democracies,

00:10:37.240 we hate

00:10:37.980 when people

00:10:39.100 have different things,

00:10:41.020 different privileges.

00:10:42.780 Democratic cultures,

00:10:43.940 egalitarian cultures,

00:10:45.180 Alexis de Tocqueville

00:10:46.340 recognized this

00:10:47.340 in Democracy in America.

00:10:49.680 They tend to level.

00:10:51.980 And so all of a sudden,

00:10:53.460 if somebody has something,

00:10:54.840 everybody else

00:10:55.380 needs to have something.

00:10:56.280 Everybody else

00:10:56.720 needs to have that privilege.

00:10:58.140 So now,

00:10:59.440 we are told

00:11:00.280 that everybody

00:11:01.440 has to go to college.

00:11:02.760 So that only the most

00:11:03.720 elite degrees

00:11:04.900 seem to count

00:11:05.460 for anything.

00:11:06.360 You know,

00:11:07.140 when I was in college,

00:11:08.380 I studied with

00:11:09.640 probably the greatest

00:11:11.020 living historian,

00:11:12.160 Donald Kagan.

00:11:13.320 Donald Kagan

00:11:15.080 went to Brooklyn College.

00:11:16.760 That's where he graduated from.

00:11:19.340 Now,

00:11:20.480 these days,

00:11:21.880 there's such a difference.

00:11:23.240 There's such a

00:11:24.420 feeling that

00:11:25.340 if you go to

00:11:25.780 Brooklyn College,

00:11:26.500 you could never end up

00:11:27.340 at a very elite university.

00:11:29.080 But in those days,

00:11:29.800 that wasn't true

00:11:30.360 because Brooklyn College

00:11:31.240 was a very,

00:11:32.240 very rigorous college.

00:11:34.140 When Donald Kagan

00:11:34.960 went to that college,

00:11:35.840 there wasn't a sense

00:11:36.520 that every single person

00:11:37.480 in the country

00:11:37.960 had to go to college.

00:11:39.060 So if you went to college,

00:11:40.260 you wanted to be there.

00:11:41.900 You wanted to learn something.

00:11:44.000 You were motivated.

00:11:45.280 You were paying for it.

00:11:46.700 Yourself,

00:11:47.120 very likely.

00:11:48.360 Or GI Bill was paying for it

00:11:49.820 and you already paid

00:11:50.400 your dues in the service.

00:11:51.920 You had some skin in the game.

00:11:53.460 You had some real stakes into it.

00:11:55.200 Now that isn't the case.

00:11:57.580 So now,

00:11:58.280 everyone is going to college.

00:12:00.780 College is considered

00:12:01.640 a good thing.

00:12:02.340 It's good for everyone.

00:12:03.440 College is a good thing

00:12:04.840 for some people.

00:12:07.340 It's not a good thing

00:12:08.020 for everyone.

00:12:08.500 A four-year college degree

00:12:09.720 is not only not a good thing

00:12:11.640 for some people,

00:12:12.640 it is a bad thing

00:12:13.740 for some people.

00:12:15.180 If you want to study

00:12:16.320 the liberal arts,

00:12:17.760 if you want to study history

00:12:19.020 or English

00:12:19.920 or philosophy or something,

00:12:21.580 and you want to have

00:12:22.020 a general education,

00:12:23.720 then you want to specialize

00:12:25.040 and then you want to generalize

00:12:26.680 again at the top,

00:12:27.480 a sort of,

00:12:28.160 it looks like the letter I.

00:12:29.360 That's the kind of

00:12:29.880 traditional career

00:12:30.640 when you go to get

00:12:31.580 a liberal education.

00:12:32.640 If you want to do that,

00:12:34.060 if you are suited to do that,

00:12:35.280 if that is your path,

00:12:36.360 then you should go to college.

00:12:38.220 It is a positive good

00:12:39.320 to go to college.

00:12:40.860 If that is not your path,

00:12:43.180 if you want to be

00:12:44.460 a very, very narrow specialist,

00:12:47.420 let's say you want to be

00:12:48.440 anything from a plumber

00:12:50.800 or an electrician

00:12:51.900 to an engineer,

00:12:53.440 let's say that's what you,

00:12:54.300 you don't need to go

00:12:55.220 get a four-year

00:12:56.000 liberal arts college degree.

00:12:58.360 Why would you need to do that?

00:12:59.940 Let's say you want to be

00:13:00.700 an actor or an actress.

00:13:01.760 You don't need to get

00:13:02.400 a four-year college degree.

00:13:03.860 Let's say you want to be

00:13:04.780 a musician.

00:13:05.540 Let's say you want to,

00:13:06.420 I don't know,

00:13:07.540 you want to be an athlete.

00:13:08.380 You don't need to get

00:13:10.680 a four-year college degree.

00:13:12.360 If you want to work

00:13:12.860 in the service industry,

00:13:13.980 depends on what the job is,

00:13:15.180 but you don't need

00:13:15.640 a four-year college degree.

00:13:18.080 So many.

00:13:19.760 If you want to be

00:13:20.180 a computer programmer,

00:13:21.140 you don't need

00:13:21.480 a four-year college degree.

00:13:22.700 All the biggest billionaire,

00:13:24.740 famous computer geniuses

00:13:26.340 of our era

00:13:26.780 dropped out of college.

00:13:28.360 You don't need that.

00:13:30.960 For certain jobs,

00:13:31.860 it helps.

00:13:32.220 For certain jobs,

00:13:32.920 you don't need it.

00:13:34.560 In fact,

00:13:35.120 the liberal arts,

00:13:35.980 very specifically,

00:13:36.880 are not designed

00:13:38.700 to get you a job.

00:13:40.620 They're designed

00:13:41.260 for what you do

00:13:42.360 in your free time,

00:13:43.760 how you make sense

00:13:44.400 of your freedom,

00:13:45.800 how you make sense

00:13:46.600 of your leisure,

00:13:47.760 how we earn our freedom

00:13:49.020 in a free society.

00:13:50.860 But that is not

00:13:51.820 what ideologues,

00:13:53.180 what leveling

00:13:54.180 leftist ideologues

00:13:55.540 tell us.

00:13:56.160 They tell us

00:13:56.640 everybody has to go

00:13:58.100 to college.

00:13:59.780 So now,

00:14:00.760 of course,

00:14:01.660 parents are going

00:14:02.360 to pay a lot of money

00:14:03.100 to cheat their way

00:14:03.920 to get their kids

00:14:04.540 into college.

00:14:05.120 In this society,

00:14:06.440 if that college credential

00:14:07.600 is so important,

00:14:08.720 they're going to do

00:14:09.120 everything that they can.

00:14:10.600 Of course.

00:14:12.160 And this raises

00:14:13.140 another question.

00:14:14.040 What do we do

00:14:14.580 about the kids

00:14:15.060 who got in?

00:14:16.040 So let's say

00:14:17.080 Felicity Huffman's kid

00:14:18.380 gets into college.

00:14:19.820 Say someone else's kid

00:14:20.920 is still there.

00:14:22.820 What if the kid

00:14:23.400 is getting a 4.0 GPA?

00:14:26.140 Actually,

00:14:26.740 some colleges now

00:14:27.460 don't even have GPAs.

00:14:28.620 Brown University

00:14:29.280 doesn't have a GPA.

00:14:30.760 So you can't even tell

00:14:31.660 what the grades are.

00:14:33.040 So they're doing fine.

00:14:34.120 They're doing

00:14:35.060 just as well,

00:14:36.520 if not better,

00:14:37.560 than other kids

00:14:38.240 who got a 1600

00:14:39.620 on the SAT

00:14:40.440 or whatever.

00:14:43.080 Well,

00:14:44.360 should we kick them out?

00:14:45.760 Is that the right thing

00:14:46.460 to do?

00:14:46.820 No.

00:14:47.220 The problem

00:14:47.820 goes a lot deeper.

00:14:49.060 The problem

00:14:49.600 is the university itself.

00:14:52.660 When you think about

00:14:53.600 who the victims are here,

00:14:55.220 a lot of people

00:14:55.700 are going to say

00:14:56.180 the kids who

00:14:56.880 didn't get in

00:14:58.400 because mommy cheated. 1.00

00:15:00.700 Okay.

00:15:01.600 Yeah.

00:15:02.680 Yeah,

00:15:03.000 those kids are victims.

00:15:03.920 That would have been awful.

00:15:04.760 I mean,

00:15:04.900 I remember the stress

00:15:05.940 of college admission season.

00:15:08.280 It's really tough.

00:15:09.180 Kids,

00:15:09.640 because there's a lot

00:15:10.360 of value put on it

00:15:11.240 in our society,

00:15:12.300 kids put a lot

00:15:12.780 of pressure on themselves.

00:15:14.860 So the kids

00:15:15.520 who worked very hard,

00:15:16.700 who didn't get in,

00:15:17.360 they're victims.

00:15:18.920 The universities

00:15:19.720 are victims.

00:15:20.580 The universities

00:15:21.160 which have been

00:15:21.680 watered down

00:15:22.320 and democratized

00:15:23.240 and hollowed out

00:15:23.800 and destroyed,

00:15:24.360 they're victims

00:15:24.780 of this scandal.

00:15:26.720 And the kids

00:15:27.420 of these very rich people

00:15:28.800 are victims

00:15:29.760 because they have

00:15:30.360 no sense of accomplishment

00:15:31.440 and their parents 0.99

00:15:32.380 are crooks. 1.00

00:15:33.700 Imagine that. 0.98

00:15:34.540 You're growing up,

00:15:35.740 you know,

00:15:36.020 you're at a formative age,

00:15:37.160 16, 17,

00:15:38.300 and your parent tells you,

00:15:40.400 you know,

00:15:40.860 Johnny, 0.98

00:15:41.380 you're just not smart enough. 0.99

00:15:43.280 You're not smart enough 0.99

00:15:44.200 and good enough 0.98

00:15:44.860 to merit getting

00:15:46.060 into an elite university.

00:15:47.660 So what we're going to do

00:15:49.660 is cheat

00:15:50.720 and rob another kid

00:15:52.280 of that educational opportunity

00:15:53.920 so that you can get in

00:15:55.460 even though you don't deserve it.

00:15:57.400 Can you imagine

00:15:58.060 being that kid?

00:15:58.740 That's what you hear.

00:15:59.700 You think,

00:16:00.060 well,

00:16:01.060 on the downside,

00:16:02.340 my parents think

00:16:03.060 that I'm a failure,

00:16:04.080 but on the bright side, 0.99

00:16:05.120 at least they're criminals. 0.99

00:16:07.140 At least my parents 1.00

00:16:08.160 are criminals. 0.99

00:16:10.260 This is,

00:16:11.900 there are no winners.

00:16:13.180 There is no winner here.

00:16:15.080 Nobody,

00:16:15.560 nobody wins.

00:16:17.200 So what is the solution?

00:16:20.020 The first solution is

00:16:21.460 you've got to push up

00:16:23.720 against the worst instincts

00:16:25.540 of democratic

00:16:26.400 and egalitarian culture.

00:16:28.120 You've got to push back

00:16:29.380 against it.

00:16:30.540 What democratic

00:16:31.620 and egalitarian culture

00:16:32.820 wants to do

00:16:33.540 is make everybody

00:16:35.360 exactly the same.

00:16:36.480 Put everyone

00:16:37.280 on exactly the same path.

00:16:39.380 Waste everybody's time.

00:16:40.760 What you need to do

00:16:41.400 is allow for variety

00:16:42.540 and diversity.

00:16:45.040 I sound like

00:16:46.060 I'm talking like

00:16:46.860 a leftist.

00:16:47.740 I'm using the words 0.79

00:16:48.660 that leftists use.

00:16:49.620 The difference is

00:16:50.100 that I actually mean it.

00:16:51.320 You need to permit

00:16:52.320 variety and diversity.

00:16:53.380 diversity.

00:16:54.460 If somebody

00:16:55.380 early on

00:16:57.360 has an aptitude

00:16:58.260 for,

00:16:58.980 I don't know,

00:17:00.300 engineering or something,

00:17:01.560 coding,

00:17:02.040 learn to code,

00:17:02.900 I'm probably going to get

00:17:03.640 kicked off of Twitter

00:17:04.580 for saying that.

00:17:05.780 If somebody has an aptitude

00:17:06.740 for that,

00:17:07.100 put him on a track

00:17:08.060 for that.

00:17:10.360 This is,

00:17:10.920 it's called tracking.

00:17:12.400 Europe has tracking,

00:17:13.800 the United States

00:17:14.320 had this for a long time,

00:17:15.600 but our

00:17:16.180 overly democratic nature

00:17:18.280 will not permit it.

00:17:19.660 We want everyone

00:17:20.460 to have every opportunity

00:17:21.580 forever.

00:17:22.720 You never need

00:17:23.280 to choose anything.

00:17:24.240 You never need

00:17:24.820 to pick a path.

00:17:25.700 No, no, no.

00:17:26.520 Just generalize,

00:17:27.420 generalize,

00:17:28.040 generalize.

00:17:29.280 But that only works

00:17:31.820 to a degree.

00:17:33.060 Eventually,

00:17:33.640 you need to take

00:17:34.140 all of that potential

00:17:34.860 and turn it

00:17:35.460 into some actuality.

00:17:37.100 And it wastes

00:17:38.180 so much time

00:17:39.540 just to constantly

00:17:41.140 be all potential,

00:17:42.600 constantly be generalizing.

00:17:45.220 Put people on tracks.

00:17:47.200 If you know,

00:17:47.980 if a kid is just

00:17:48.860 not cut out

00:17:49.500 for the classroom,

00:17:50.560 just doesn't like

00:17:51.560 school,

00:17:52.180 doesn't like reading books,

00:17:53.540 isn't going to start

00:17:54.360 liking to read books,

00:17:55.860 he wants to work

00:17:57.340 in a trade,

00:17:57.920 let's say.

00:17:58.940 Let's say he wants

00:17:59.340 to become an electrician

00:18:00.420 or something.

00:18:01.500 Put him on that track

00:18:02.620 before he's 22 years old

00:18:04.080 and $200,000 in debt.

00:18:06.120 What good does that do anybody?

00:18:07.620 Because if you get

00:18:08.300 into these schools

00:18:09.100 and you really

00:18:10.740 can't do anything,

00:18:11.600 first of all,

00:18:12.060 maybe you can't do anything

00:18:12.980 at the university.

00:18:14.240 Maybe some schools

00:18:15.200 don't have too much

00:18:16.040 great inflation,

00:18:16.740 you flunk out.

00:18:17.680 That just puts you

00:18:18.360 in debt

00:18:18.700 and you're even more 0.98

00:18:19.400 of a failure. 0.99

00:18:20.140 Or let's say

00:18:20.800 you graduate,

00:18:21.880 you've got all

00:18:22.380 of this debt now,

00:18:23.740 and you have no skill

00:18:24.820 and you have no interest

00:18:25.720 and you have no path.

00:18:27.440 That hasn't done

00:18:28.260 anybody any good.

00:18:29.360 It just mismatches

00:18:30.580 you for your future.

00:18:31.840 So maybe put that kid 0.67

00:18:32.860 on a path

00:18:33.320 to a trade.

00:18:34.760 Maybe someone wants

00:18:36.000 to join the military

00:18:36.820 right out of high school.

00:18:38.220 They don't need to go

00:18:38.860 to a four-year college

00:18:39.880 right away.

00:18:40.880 Maybe if they want

00:18:41.400 to be an officer

00:18:41.960 or a career guy,

00:18:42.640 then they can do that.

00:18:43.420 Or maybe they want

00:18:44.000 to enlist.

00:18:44.460 Do that.

00:18:45.840 Allow for variety

00:18:47.000 and diversity.

00:18:47.900 Stop homogenizing

00:18:49.460 everything.

00:18:50.260 People are different.

00:18:51.180 This is a beautiful

00:18:51.860 aspect of life.

00:18:53.040 I get a great thrill

00:18:54.160 out of different people

00:18:55.500 telling me different opinions,

00:18:56.740 having different experiences.

00:18:58.120 The next thing

00:18:58.640 you've got to do

00:18:59.100 is reduce

00:18:59.720 the federal college subsidies.

00:19:02.180 I'm not saying

00:19:02.740 cut them all off.

00:19:03.780 I don't think 0.97

00:19:04.320 there should be

00:19:04.780 totally radical,

00:19:06.360 drastic change

00:19:07.020 immediately.

00:19:07.800 I think that

00:19:08.340 disadvantages

00:19:09.020 kids who have

00:19:10.500 been waiting

00:19:10.960 their turn

00:19:11.600 in this college cycle.

00:19:13.380 and to cut off

00:19:14.900 their opportunities,

00:19:16.000 radically try to

00:19:16.700 change the culture

00:19:17.360 is fundamentally

00:19:18.420 anti-conservative

00:19:19.460 and it's not going

00:19:20.020 to work.

00:19:20.660 What you need to do

00:19:21.260 is steadily decrease

00:19:23.140 federal subsidies

00:19:24.260 for colleges.

00:19:25.400 These federal government

00:19:26.400 subsidies have created

00:19:27.360 very perverse incentives.

00:19:29.040 They've given colleges

00:19:30.160 the ability to raise

00:19:32.100 a lot of administrative bloat.

00:19:34.520 They have given colleges,

00:19:36.240 when you guarantee

00:19:36.780 the student loans,

00:19:38.320 they've given colleges

00:19:39.100 a free check

00:19:39.780 to increase tuition,

00:19:41.160 which saddles kids

00:19:42.120 with hundreds of thousands

00:19:43.480 of dollars of debt.

00:19:44.740 This has created

00:19:45.700 terrible incentives

00:19:46.880 and it's made the universities

00:19:48.520 reliant on the government.

00:19:49.720 It's made them 0.77

00:19:50.080 more politically correct.

00:19:51.400 It's made them 0.77

00:19:51.820 more willing to

00:19:52.500 politically censor people.

00:19:54.500 Very bad idea.

00:19:56.960 Slowly,

00:19:57.640 gradually,

00:19:58.140 you've got to reduce

00:19:59.060 those subsidies.

00:20:00.160 And speaking of

00:20:00.700 the administrative bloat, 0.60

00:20:01.940 fire them all. 0.99

00:20:02.960 Fire every single 1.00

00:20:03.840 one of them. 1.00

00:20:04.560 The deputy assistant,

00:20:05.740 deputy dean

00:20:06.440 of inclusion

00:20:07.460 and diversity

00:20:08.360 and nothing

00:20:09.140 needs to be fired

00:20:10.420 yesterday.

00:20:11.180 End it.

00:20:12.040 That is awful.

00:20:13.060 They do nothing.

00:20:13.980 All they do

00:20:14.640 is sit in their office

00:20:16.060 and try to justify 0.99

00:20:17.260 their ridiculous 1.00

00:20:18.040 and useless job 1.00

00:20:19.040 and stir up trouble

00:20:20.140 on campus

00:20:20.700 and destroy liberal education. 0.91

00:20:22.580 Fire them immediately. 0.97

00:20:24.880 Next,

00:20:25.820 reduce the role

00:20:26.460 of sports

00:20:27.000 in colleges.

00:20:28.760 It's just too dominant.

00:20:31.100 It creates too much

00:20:31.900 opportunity for corruption

00:20:33.000 and too much opportunity

00:20:35.020 to corrupt scholarship

00:20:36.900 and the purpose

00:20:37.420 of the university.

00:20:38.120 Next,

00:20:39.880 eliminate fake

00:20:41.180 academic disciplines.

00:20:43.100 We joke about

00:20:43.880 lesbian dance theory.

00:20:45.220 There are really 0.97

00:20:45.880 ridiculous disciplines 0.97

00:20:46.900 out there. 0.99

00:20:48.160 Women's sexuality 0.99

00:20:49.260 and gender studies.

00:20:51.000 Ethnicity, race

00:20:51.700 and migration studies.

00:20:53.260 Virtually any department

00:20:54.720 that ends in studies

00:20:56.100 with, I suppose,

00:20:58.000 the exception

00:20:58.500 of the language departments

00:20:59.680 because some of those

00:21:01.380 end in studies.

00:21:02.160 But other than

00:21:03.380 ancient or modern languages,

00:21:05.420 we're just talking

00:21:06.120 about cultural studies.

00:21:08.320 Dead.

00:21:08.840 That's not an academic discipline.

00:21:10.440 That is not serious scholarship.

00:21:12.240 That is just ideology.

00:21:13.780 Those have to go away

00:21:14.680 because those departments

00:21:17.380 attract professors

00:21:18.380 and students

00:21:19.120 who are not fit

00:21:20.160 to be at a university.

00:21:21.280 They are generally

00:21:22.020 less intelligent 0.92

00:21:22.820 and less educated

00:21:24.120 and they make up words

00:21:25.440 and they don't mean anything

00:21:26.700 and they damage

00:21:27.440 the credibility

00:21:28.040 of the university.

00:21:29.140 You have to get rid of those.

00:21:30.400 And finally,

00:21:31.240 the other way to fix this

00:21:32.560 is for employers

00:21:34.560 to stop putting

00:21:36.380 so much credibility,

00:21:39.260 lending so much credibility

00:21:40.280 to a meaningless certificate.

00:21:43.660 If you get into

00:21:44.620 a good college,

00:21:45.660 what does that mean?

00:21:46.580 Until this scandal,

00:21:47.600 it meant that you

00:21:48.460 were pretty intelligent.

00:21:50.520 You had a pretty high

00:21:51.560 raw intelligence.

00:21:52.540 You had a pretty good IQ.

00:21:54.280 Maybe you did well

00:21:54.920 in high school.

00:21:56.060 You did very well

00:21:57.140 on a standardized test.

00:21:58.840 That matters.

00:21:59.480 It matters if your employee

00:22:00.960 is intelligent.

00:22:02.500 But it's not all

00:22:03.380 that matters.

00:22:04.720 Education matters too.

00:22:05.900 What you can do.

00:22:06.740 Skills matter too.

00:22:08.880 There's a kind of

00:22:09.780 funny thing.

00:22:10.500 We joke about this

00:22:11.240 on backstage

00:22:11.760 at the Daily Wire

00:22:12.560 where, you know,

00:22:14.440 Ben went to Harvard Law,

00:22:15.800 Drew went to Berkeley,

00:22:16.860 I went to Yale.

00:22:18.220 So the people

00:22:19.580 with the shows

00:22:21.200 went to these

00:22:21.880 very elite colleges.

00:22:23.780 And our bosses

00:22:24.780 didn't go to college.

00:22:26.660 None of them

00:22:27.120 went to college.

00:22:28.160 And so, really,

00:22:29.420 it tells you something

00:22:30.140 about the value

00:22:30.880 of an education.

00:22:32.040 If, if what you want to do,

00:22:33.700 if what really gets you going

00:22:34.720 is talking about

00:22:35.620 Edmund Burke all day long

00:22:36.680 as it does for me,

00:22:38.220 then, yes,

00:22:39.100 you probably need

00:22:40.140 to go to college.

00:22:41.540 If you want to run

00:22:42.440 a gigantic business,

00:22:43.600 if you want to be

00:22:44.060 an entrepreneur,

00:22:44.680 if you want to start

00:22:45.180 a gigantic business,

00:22:46.780 anything from us

00:22:47.560 to Facebook

00:22:48.080 to Microsoft

00:22:49.100 to whatever,

00:22:50.840 I don't see any evidence

00:22:52.100 that you need

00:22:52.540 a college degree.

00:22:53.880 I don't see any evidence

00:22:54.700 that you need to graduate.

00:22:55.820 I don't know

00:22:56.180 that you need to go

00:22:56.820 in the first place.

00:22:58.720 Different tracks.

00:22:59.420 It's okay.

00:23:00.160 And employers,

00:23:01.060 really good employers,

00:23:02.040 know this.

00:23:03.080 You look at the resume,

00:23:03.940 okay, then throw it out.

00:23:04.800 See what the person can do.

00:23:06.520 See what the person

00:23:07.140 is like to talk to.

00:23:08.340 See what their hard skills are.

00:23:10.160 This will be

00:23:11.200 the only way.

00:23:12.160 If you institute

00:23:12.920 even two-thirds

00:23:14.300 of those suggestions,

00:23:16.120 you will go a long way

00:23:17.440 to stopping

00:23:18.080 this,

00:23:18.560 this big college scam.

00:23:21.480 Not just the particular scam

00:23:22.600 of cheating to get in,

00:23:23.940 but the big scam overall,

00:23:26.100 which is that our education

00:23:27.120 has been watered down.

00:23:28.240 I joke with my friend

00:23:29.740 that he and I 0.99

00:23:30.660 are just complete dunces. 0.99

00:23:32.800 And I'm only half joking 0.99

00:23:33.820 because if we had had

00:23:35.420 our education 60 years ago,

00:23:37.120 we would have had to learn

00:23:39.200 Latin,

00:23:40.580 ancient Greek,

00:23:41.540 maybe Hebrew.

00:23:42.640 These days,

00:23:43.440 if you graduate from Yale

00:23:44.520 with honors,

00:23:45.560 with summa cum laude,

00:23:46.640 a degree in English,

00:23:47.820 you can do all of that

00:23:48.820 without ever reading Shakespeare.

00:23:50.980 That is a scandal.

00:23:52.380 That's the big college scam.

00:23:54.500 And it's very important.

00:23:55.440 A free society

00:23:56.340 cannot remain free very long

00:23:57.840 if it doesn't take

00:23:59.000 education seriously.

00:24:00.740 This is where I differ

00:24:01.600 from my more rock-ribbed,

00:24:04.000 maybe,

00:24:04.600 you know,

00:24:05.160 kind of populist

00:24:06.100 conservative friends

00:24:07.120 who say,

00:24:07.840 who cares,

00:24:08.260 burn all of education 0.97

00:24:09.120 to the ground.

00:24:09.640 No, no, no.

00:24:10.220 Free society will dissolve

00:24:11.660 in two seconds

00:24:12.780 once education

00:24:14.260 is truly eliminated,

00:24:15.380 once liberal education

00:24:16.260 is eliminated.

00:24:17.220 So it really matters

00:24:18.540 that you can save this.

00:24:19.680 You have to go out

00:24:20.420 and try to bring it back

00:24:21.840 and, you know,

00:24:24.920 one way that we try

00:24:26.500 to do this

00:24:26.980 in a popular way

00:24:28.340 just as part of the show

00:24:29.720 is we go around

00:24:30.700 and do all of these

00:24:31.440 college speeches

00:24:32.200 and so right now

00:24:33.900 I'm actually with Ben

00:24:34.840 at Michigan

00:24:35.480 and Ben is giving

00:24:37.380 a speech tonight

00:24:38.040 at University of Michigan

00:24:39.080 and just,

00:24:41.100 it's as though,

00:24:42.140 you know,

00:24:42.500 all nature is but art

00:24:43.460 unknown to thee.

00:24:44.460 The universities

00:24:45.300 make our point

00:24:46.680 before we can even say it,

00:24:48.100 which is that

00:24:49.480 he's getting protests.

00:24:50.860 They didn't want him

00:24:51.520 to come.

00:24:52.260 And now the history department

00:24:53.300 is holding a rival event

00:24:55.420 to Ben's speech

00:24:56.960 called

00:24:57.440 When Provocateurs

00:24:59.460 Dabble in History.

00:25:01.220 Ben Shapiro

00:25:02.220 and the

00:25:03.280 Enwhitenment.

00:25:05.960 The Enwhitenment.

00:25:08.320 The history department.

00:25:09.340 These are supposed to,

00:25:10.120 we're the serious guys.

00:25:11.900 We're the serious

00:25:12.800 academic history department.

00:25:14.360 Ben,

00:25:14.680 he's just dabbling.

00:25:15.680 He's just a provocateur.

00:25:17.120 And yet,

00:25:17.440 the super duper

00:25:19.100 serious history department 0.93

00:25:20.060 uses a ridiculous 0.87

00:25:21.240 ideological 0.98

00:25:22.800 made up word

00:25:23.880 called

00:25:24.200 Enwhitenment.

00:25:25.540 Listen to this.

00:25:26.560 This is what they say.

00:25:27.060 They say,

00:25:27.380 they sent out a letter.

00:25:28.180 They said,

00:25:28.620 Hi historians,

00:25:30.040 join the history club

00:25:31.000 and the history department

00:25:31.860 tomorrow

00:25:32.300 for an important

00:25:33.400 and exciting event

00:25:34.720 in response to

00:25:35.800 Ben Shapiro's

00:25:36.460 visit to campus.

00:25:37.740 When Provocateurs

00:25:38.580 Dabble in History,

00:25:39.560 Ben Shapiro

00:25:39.960 and the Enwhitenment

00:25:40.580 will feature

00:25:41.120 speakers and panelists

00:25:42.540 responding to

00:25:43.720 Shapiro's attacks 0.83

00:25:44.540 on campuses

00:25:45.140 and academia

00:25:45.800 along with his

00:25:46.720 new history book,

00:25:47.920 The Right Side

00:25:48.420 of History.

00:25:50.600 Ben Shapiro's

00:25:51.360 attacking campuses.

00:25:52.640 Ben Shapiro's

00:25:53.320 attacking academia.

00:25:54.140 You're attacking

00:25:54.820 academia 1.00

00:25:55.400 with stupid 1.00

00:25:56.440 made up terms 1.00

00:25:57.020 like that

00:25:57.420 and trying to get

00:25:57.940 speakers banned

00:25:58.500 from campus.

00:25:59.380 You're the ones

00:26:00.080 doing it.

00:26:00.560 You're the ones

00:26:01.060 hollowing out

00:26:01.680 higher education.

00:26:03.260 You don't even know it.

00:26:04.040 Here's just a little

00:26:04.720 evidence.

00:26:05.880 They say,

00:26:06.180 We're honored

00:26:06.600 to be joined by

00:26:07.480 Dean Angela Dillard,

00:26:09.800 Professor Ann Berg,

00:26:11.500 Professor John Carson,

00:26:13.060 and Professor

00:26:13.660 Hussain Fancy.

00:26:16.000 Oh, see,

00:26:16.780 they brought professors.

00:26:18.460 Not Ben.

00:26:19.120 Ben's just a provocateur

00:26:20.320 who dabbles in history.

00:26:21.720 They're bringing

00:26:22.400 the real professors.

00:26:23.440 So I said,

00:26:23.760 Okay,

00:26:24.240 I bet that these 0.91

00:26:25.580 professors are a total joke.

00:26:26.940 I just,

00:26:27.300 it was a hunch I had.

00:26:29.040 Call it a good bet.

00:26:30.080 I got pretty good

00:26:30.640 betting instincts.

00:26:31.620 So I googled them.

00:26:32.540 Guess what?

00:26:32.860 Turns out I was right

00:26:33.580 for at least half of them.

00:26:35.060 Angela Dillard,

00:26:36.160 she's a dean,

00:26:37.120 already makes me

00:26:37.740 a little suspect of her.

00:26:38.720 She has a BA in

00:26:40.720 Justice,

00:26:42.740 Morality,

00:26:43.480 Constitutional,

00:26:44.300 Democracy.

00:26:45.620 So fake degree,

00:26:46.700 fake undergraduate degree.

00:26:48.020 She has a master's degree

00:26:49.080 in American Culture.

00:26:51.500 So fake master's degree.

00:26:52.900 And a PhD in

00:26:54.260 also American Culture.

00:26:56.500 So she has

00:26:57.300 three or four degrees

00:26:58.440 in nothing.

00:27:00.700 In fake everything.

00:27:02.480 That is nothing.

00:27:05.460 I don't know.

00:27:06.140 Do I have a degree

00:27:06.680 in American Culture?

00:27:07.420 I go to the movies

00:27:08.060 once a week.

00:27:08.680 Is that a degree?

00:27:11.460 Ann Berg,

00:27:12.480 that's the other

00:27:13.080 super historian here.

00:27:14.660 First of all,

00:27:15.100 not a professor.

00:27:15.760 She's a lecturer here.

00:27:17.540 She is from Michigan,

00:27:19.080 I guess,

00:27:19.480 got a PhD in Michigan.

00:27:20.860 She studies film

00:27:21.820 and public leisure

00:27:23.380 in Nazi Germany

00:27:25.100 as well as

00:27:26.540 the politics,

00:27:27.680 this is a direct quote,

00:27:28.820 the politics of waste

00:27:30.400 and recycling

00:27:31.420 in the Third Reich.

00:27:34.960 If I were going

00:27:37.400 to,

00:27:37.860 if I were writing

00:27:38.620 the producers

00:27:39.200 or something,

00:27:40.180 if I were writing

00:27:40.680 a total parody

00:27:41.880 of academia,

00:27:44.560 what I would do,

00:27:45.340 I would have

00:27:45.720 the professor

00:27:46.640 specialize in

00:27:47.680 the politics

00:27:48.620 of waste

00:27:49.180 and recycling

00:27:49.860 in the Third Reich.

00:27:51.640 How frivolous.

00:27:54.040 A couple of the

00:27:54.980 other professors

00:27:55.500 are apparently

00:27:56.740 more legitimate.

00:27:58.460 But at least

00:27:58.920 half the panel 0.94

00:27:59.600 are total frauds.

00:28:02.460 Ben Shapiro

00:28:02.940 is much more

00:28:03.560 of a historian

00:28:04.140 than those two people.

00:28:04.940 But this is

00:28:07.020 what they do.

00:28:07.940 They have a PhD.

00:28:09.960 They call themselves

00:28:10.800 professor,

00:28:11.380 even though they're

00:28:11.700 not really professors.

00:28:13.080 They have an academic

00:28:14.800 pedigree.

00:28:15.640 Ooh, ooh,

00:28:16.440 hee hee hee. 0.99

00:28:17.040 It's a facade.

00:28:18.800 It's fake.

00:28:20.460 We have fake news.

00:28:22.320 Now we have

00:28:22.840 fake scholarship.

00:28:24.480 Fake academia.

00:28:26.160 And they have to

00:28:26.940 have a counter event.

00:28:28.580 At a university,

00:28:30.000 a real university,

00:28:31.160 typically,

00:28:31.480 you would go

00:28:32.120 and hear

00:28:32.720 somebody speak.

00:28:34.300 Someone wants

00:28:34.820 to give a lecture.

00:28:35.500 You agree.

00:28:35.920 You disagree.

00:28:36.400 You don't know

00:28:36.680 if you agree.

00:28:37.100 You go and hear

00:28:37.580 them speak.

00:28:38.480 And then maybe later

00:28:39.540 you give a response.

00:28:41.460 It's what you do

00:28:42.120 at a university.

00:28:43.940 Brings everybody

00:28:44.620 together.

00:28:45.540 Then you share

00:28:46.840 ideas and then

00:28:47.460 you come up

00:28:47.960 with other ideas.

00:28:49.900 But here,

00:28:51.400 in American

00:28:52.100 universities today,

00:28:54.180 instead of going

00:28:54.900 to the event,

00:28:55.480 you try to get

00:28:55.900 the event shut down.

00:28:56.680 You try to get

00:28:57.080 the person censored.

00:28:57.860 You try to get

00:28:58.280 them kicked off campus.

00:28:59.280 And then when

00:28:59.800 that doesn't work,

00:29:00.820 you go to the

00:29:01.360 deputy dean of

00:29:02.060 inclusion or whatever

00:29:02.960 and then you,

00:29:03.860 you,

00:29:05.380 I don't,

00:29:06.000 you hold a

00:29:06.460 counter protest event.

00:29:08.180 And then you,

00:29:08.860 and you just go

00:29:09.380 to your separate events

00:29:10.300 and that's it.

00:29:10.840 No one talks to anybody.

00:29:11.740 It's not a university.

00:29:13.040 And if they're not

00:29:13.680 going to behave

00:29:14.060 like universities,

00:29:15.380 don't treat them

00:29:15.920 as such.

00:29:16.340 If you're an employer,

00:29:17.440 give less credit to it.

00:29:19.340 If you're the federal

00:29:20.120 government,

00:29:20.640 stop funding it.

00:29:21.720 And if your

00:29:22.520 parents and children

00:29:23.560 have the courage

00:29:26.280 to make what are

00:29:27.720 really the better

00:29:28.520 academic choices

00:29:29.360 for your kids

00:29:30.080 regardless of

00:29:30.800 what that is.

00:29:31.200 We have a lot

00:29:31.460 more to get to.

00:29:32.260 Media Matters

00:29:32.800 taking another

00:29:33.240 shot at Tucker.

00:29:34.120 We've got Nancy

00:29:35.100 Pelosi coming out

00:29:36.080 against impeachment

00:29:38.140 and then Greenpeace

00:29:39.180 telling us that,

00:29:40.260 the Greenpeace

00:29:41.020 co-founder telling us

00:29:42.080 that the Green New

00:29:42.820 Deal will end

00:29:43.620 civilization.

00:29:45.020 All of that

00:29:45.760 in just a second.

00:29:47.380 But first you have

00:29:47.800 to go to

00:29:48.040 dailywire.com.

00:29:49.880 Dailywire.com.

00:29:52.580 membership.

00:29:53.080 What do you get?

00:29:54.160 What don't you get?

00:29:55.640 You get me.

00:29:56.180 You get the

00:29:56.400 Andrew Klavan show.

00:29:57.260 Ben Shapiro show.

00:29:57.880 You get the

00:29:58.100 Matt Walsh show.

00:29:58.680 You get to ask

00:30:00.360 Thursday.

00:30:00.740 You get to ask

00:30:02.460 That's coming up

00:30:13.200 and myself will be

00:30:13.920 smoking stogies,

00:30:15.220 drinking whiskey,

00:30:16.080 and laughing at this

00:30:18.220 wild, crazy political

00:30:19.800 culture of ours.

00:30:20.660 As always,

00:30:32.440 these sad little

00:30:33.180 cups like I'm

00:30:33.980 drinking out of

00:30:34.520 now on the road.

00:30:35.740 Daily Wire dot com.

00:30:36.380 We'll be right back.

00:30:36.900 Media Matters is

00:30:49.840 going after Tucker

00:30:50.900 Carlson again.

00:30:52.940 By the way,

00:30:53.380 this really drives me.

00:30:54.360 This is a really

00:30:55.080 side point.

00:30:55.860 This is a really

00:30:56.400 minor point,

00:30:57.060 but I have to make it.

00:30:59.520 Media Matters is 1.00

00:31:01.200 such a stupid 1.00

00:31:01.860 organization that 1.00

00:31:03.100 they don't even

00:31:03.780 know that the word

00:31:04.620 media is plural.

00:31:05.700 media is the

00:31:08.660 plural of medium.

00:31:10.800 So you have a

00:31:11.520 medium,

00:31:12.240 you have this

00:31:12.600 medium,

00:31:13.020 the newspapers,

00:31:13.760 or the television,

00:31:14.520 or the radio,

00:31:15.100 or this.

00:31:15.640 Media,

00:31:16.140 multiple mediums

00:31:17.580 equals media.

00:31:19.300 So really the

00:31:20.080 organization should

00:31:20.940 be called Media

00:31:22.200 Matter for America,

00:31:24.120 not Media Matters.

00:31:25.540 But I'm not

00:31:25.980 surprised that an

00:31:26.760 organization like

00:31:27.540 this doesn't know

00:31:28.360 how to use the

00:31:28.760 English language.

00:31:29.600 A side point.

00:31:30.340 Now they're going

00:31:30.860 after Tucker again.

00:31:31.680 We talked about

00:31:32.140 what they were doing

00:31:32.640 yesterday, so they're

00:31:33.780 going after him again.

00:31:34.600 They have a headline,

00:31:36.560 quote,

00:31:36.840 Unearthed audio

00:31:38.200 shows Tucker Carlson

00:31:40.660 using white

00:31:42.340 nationalist rhetoric

00:31:44.020 and making

00:31:45.180 racist remarks.

00:31:48.440 Okay, first of all,

00:31:49.560 these guys are so

00:31:50.660 overusing the phrase

00:31:51.880 white nationalist

00:31:52.600 that that word, 0.91

00:31:53.980 like racist,

00:31:55.020 is basically now

00:31:56.620 deprived of meaning.

00:31:59.120 It used to have a

00:31:59.800 meaning.

00:32:00.920 Racists used to

00:32:01.720 have a meaning.

00:32:03.380 Now they don't.

00:32:04.200 They don't have,

00:32:05.440 because they used

00:32:06.160 them against

00:32:06.820 Tucker Carlson.

00:32:08.240 And so there's

00:32:08.600 no credibility.

00:32:10.460 But Media Matters

00:32:11.440 did a good job here

00:32:12.380 in the sense that

00:32:13.200 they got the

00:32:13.620 one-two punch. 0.98

00:32:14.600 They released a few

00:32:15.600 audio clips yesterday

00:32:16.700 and Tucker comes out,

00:32:18.820 defends himself,

00:32:19.700 some, okay,

00:32:20.580 that one didn't quite

00:32:21.320 take him off the air.

00:32:22.200 So then they hit him

00:32:23.400 again today with

00:32:24.320 these new clips.

00:32:25.700 If you haven't

00:32:26.340 heard them yet,

00:32:27.500 here are the,

00:32:28.220 here's the white

00:32:28.980 nationalist,

00:32:30.420 basically Adolf Hitler

00:32:31.840 himself reciting

00:32:33.320 MindConf on Fox

00:32:34.780 News,

00:32:35.700 Tucker Carlson. 0.99

00:32:37.160 Iraq is a crappy 1.00

00:32:38.140 place filled with 1.00

00:32:39.080 a bunch of,

00:32:39.680 you know,

00:32:40.200 semi-literate

00:32:41.060 primitive monkeys.

00:32:42.120 I just have zero

00:32:43.000 sympathy for them

00:32:44.780 or their culture,

00:32:45.580 a culture where

00:32:46.100 people just don't

00:32:46.700 use toilet paper

00:32:47.400 or forks.

00:32:48.080 And the way

00:32:49.540 they treat women,

00:32:50.320 you know,

00:32:50.560 I agree with you.

00:32:51.420 Their culture is,

00:32:52.440 but you're in

00:32:53.100 their homeland.

00:32:54.240 You know,

00:32:54.400 white men have,

00:32:54.960 you know,

00:32:55.320 they've contributed

00:32:55.880 some, I would say,

00:32:58.080 like creating

00:32:58.760 civilization and stuff.

00:32:59.680 I think they've

00:33:00.080 done a pretty,

00:33:00.560 I don't know,

00:33:01.000 whatever.

00:33:01.960 Obama would kick 0.91

00:33:03.040 your playing basketball. 0.89

00:33:04.900 Yeah,

00:33:05.240 of course he would.

00:33:07.640 Basketball,

00:33:08.300 come on. 0.79

00:33:08.660 He's black, 0.99

00:33:09.320 say it,

00:33:09.620 he's our real brother.

00:33:11.280 Hey,

00:33:11.480 do you think,

00:33:12.080 do you think,

00:33:12.420 I don't know how 0.75

00:33:12.900 black he is. 0.89

00:33:14.020 How is he black, 0.93

00:33:14.860 for one thing?

00:33:15.360 He has one white

00:33:15.880 parent,

00:33:16.240 one black parent.

00:33:16.900 So that makes him,

00:33:18.160 why isn't he white?

00:33:19.440 There's some really

00:33:20.220 good,

00:33:20.820 I mean,

00:33:21.180 immigrants.

00:33:21.660 I just think it's,

00:33:22.720 you know,

00:33:22.940 people who come to

00:33:23.480 this country ought to

00:33:23.960 have something to offer.

00:33:24.920 Be hot,

00:33:25.580 be really smart,

00:33:26.560 you know what I mean?

00:33:27.120 Especially that last one.

00:33:30.180 People who come to

00:33:30.840 this country ought to

00:33:31.420 have something to offer.

00:33:32.480 So look,

00:33:32.920 he's on a shock jock show,

00:33:34.140 it's the same show,

00:33:35.100 like the Bubba Gump

00:33:35.920 love show or something,

00:33:36.720 I don't remember the

00:33:37.400 name of it.

00:33:38.300 And he's speaking

00:33:40.880 in a joking manner,

00:33:43.480 obviously.

00:33:44.140 I don't think that if

00:33:44.880 Tucker Carlson were

00:33:45.700 the president of the

00:33:46.260 United States,

00:33:47.000 he would say in his

00:33:47.980 immigration policy,

00:33:49.360 they have to be hot 0.81

00:33:50.380 or really smart,

00:33:51.640 you know.

00:33:52.080 I don't think he would

00:33:52.620 say that.

00:33:53.140 But that's a good joke.

00:33:54.080 And a fair point that he

00:33:55.040 makes,

00:33:55.380 which is,

00:33:56.340 if you come to this

00:33:56.940 country,

00:33:57.240 you should have

00:33:57.560 something to offer.

00:33:58.320 And if you don't have

00:33:58.880 something to offer this

00:33:59.600 country,

00:34:00.060 you shouldn't come

00:34:00.740 into this country.

00:34:02.340 Duh,

00:34:02.700 that's the immigration

00:34:03.840 policy of every other

00:34:04.900 country on earth as well.

00:34:06.580 We happen to have

00:34:07.260 the most generous one,

00:34:08.340 but that makes sense.

00:34:09.240 And so what Tucker says,

00:34:10.540 be hot or be really smart,

00:34:11.740 okay.

00:34:12.760 What else?

00:34:13.440 You know,

00:34:13.720 some of the points

00:34:14.400 he's making here,

00:34:15.320 which he makes

00:34:16.000 in an offensive way,

00:34:16.980 nobody says he's

00:34:18.120 not making them

00:34:19.080 in an offensive way.

00:34:20.080 In fact,

00:34:20.440 he's intentionally

00:34:21.120 making them

00:34:21.660 in an offensive way

00:34:22.580 because he's on

00:34:23.660 a shock jock show.

00:34:25.700 Shock jock.

00:34:27.060 It's not

00:34:27.540 feel really

00:34:28.920 pleasant jock.

00:34:29.860 It's a shock jock.

00:34:30.720 It's supposed to

00:34:31.120 shock you.

00:34:32.120 So I'm sure he would

00:34:33.040 say that too.

00:34:33.580 Yes,

00:34:33.820 these were very

00:34:34.560 offensive.

00:34:35.900 But some of the

00:34:36.740 points that he's

00:34:37.380 making,

00:34:37.860 most people would

00:34:38.480 agree with.

00:34:40.000 He jokes about

00:34:41.340 all of the animus

00:34:42.360 in the popular

00:34:43.060 culture against

00:34:43.660 white men.

00:34:44.200 He said,

00:34:44.600 I think white men 0.84

00:34:45.380 have done something.

00:34:46.400 I mean,

00:34:46.680 you know,

00:34:47.040 they were not so bad.

00:34:48.040 They like,

00:34:48.600 you know,

00:34:49.060 created civilization.

00:34:50.080 What we call

00:34:52.920 civilization,

00:34:53.760 Western civilization,

00:34:55.740 or I guess what we

00:34:57.060 call civilization

00:34:57.740 broadly,

00:34:58.280 the thing that we

00:34:58.760 know is civilization,

00:35:00.140 the thing that we

00:35:00.640 live in is civilization,

00:35:02.280 the civilization that

00:35:03.140 has spread throughout

00:35:03.860 the whole world,

00:35:04.900 that we have spread

00:35:05.760 from sea to shining

00:35:07.320 sea and far beyond

00:35:08.800 it,

00:35:09.840 is European.

00:35:12.060 It comes from

00:35:12.680 Europe.

00:35:14.120 It comes from

00:35:15.360 Rome.

00:35:16.180 It comes from

00:35:16.960 London.

00:35:18.020 It comes from

00:35:18.580 Greece.

00:35:19.700 I guess it comes

00:35:20.240 from Jerusalem as

00:35:22.420 well.

00:35:22.740 It comes from the

00:35:23.300 Jews as well.

00:35:24.940 I don't know,

00:35:25.320 are the Jews white 0.99

00:35:25.940 or not?

00:35:26.340 I don't know,

00:35:26.540 this is a big

00:35:27.040 debate among the

00:35:27.800 left,

00:35:28.100 I guess.

00:35:29.660 But the point he's

00:35:31.280 making,

00:35:32.260 that civilization

00:35:33.040 has come from

00:35:33.940 Europe,

00:35:34.760 is true.

00:35:37.820 He says,

00:35:38.460 how is Barack

00:35:39.180 Obama black? 0.51

00:35:39.880 He's also white. 0.66

00:35:41.000 It's also a fair

00:35:41.640 point.

00:35:42.580 Why is Barack

00:35:43.100 Obama,

00:35:43.660 his mother's white,

00:35:44.400 he was raised

00:35:46.100 largely by a

00:35:46.920 white family,

00:35:47.600 if not exclusively.

00:35:49.180 Why is he not

00:35:49.760 considered white?

00:35:50.560 Well,

00:35:50.940 the left might

00:35:51.500 say because

00:35:52.380 the very fact

00:35:54.660 that he had

00:35:54.980 black skin

00:35:55.660 means that he

00:35:56.980 did not have

00:35:57.560 the privileges

00:35:58.200 that white 0.95

00:35:59.700 people have,

00:36:00.300 even though he's

00:36:00.840 half white.

00:36:01.660 Because he had

00:36:02.380 black skin,

00:36:02.900 he doesn't have 0.98

00:36:03.280 those privileges.

00:36:04.840 I don't know,

00:36:05.280 he went to a

00:36:05.680 very good school

00:36:06.460 in Hawaii,

00:36:07.060 then he went

00:36:07.360 to Columbia,

00:36:08.120 an Ivy League

00:36:08.560 school,

00:36:09.040 then he went

00:36:09.440 to Harvard

00:36:09.780 Law School,

00:36:10.500 an Ivy League

00:36:10.980 school.

00:36:12.160 Then he became

00:36:12.940 a state senator

00:36:13.800 very quickly,

00:36:14.600 then he became

00:36:15.060 a U.S.

00:36:15.660 senator at

00:36:16.220 like age five,

00:36:17.220 and then he

00:36:17.820 wrote two memoirs

00:36:18.620 about himself

00:36:19.120 that both got

00:36:19.660 published,

00:36:20.260 and then he

00:36:20.960 became the

00:36:21.340 president.

00:36:22.740 He's like the

00:36:23.420 most privileged

00:36:23.980 guy ever.

00:36:25.660 What are you

00:36:26.220 talking about?

00:36:28.200 So the point

00:36:29.160 that Tucker's

00:36:29.600 making there,

00:36:30.060 also,

00:36:30.620 fair enough point.

00:36:31.400 Then he says

00:36:31.960 the things about

00:36:32.600 the Iraqis,

00:36:33.380 he calls,

00:36:33.640 that's not nice.

00:36:34.740 Not nice.

00:36:35.580 Nobody would

00:36:35.980 want to do

00:36:36.380 that.

00:36:37.320 Nobody should

00:36:38.940 ever suggest

00:36:40.140 that human

00:36:41.740 beings are

00:36:42.560 not human

00:36:43.320 beings.

00:36:43.880 Don't you

00:36:44.180 agree,

00:36:44.560 Congresswoman

00:36:45.200 Ilhan Omar?

00:36:46.820 I understand

00:36:47.220 that you

00:36:47.620 refute this

00:36:48.180 political story.

00:36:49.000 Could you

00:36:49.200 just set the

00:36:49.700 record straight

00:36:50.160 so we get

00:36:50.560 your side

00:36:50.960 of it?

00:36:51.740 Do you

00:36:52.280 think that

00:36:52.700 President Obama

00:36:53.280 is the same

00:36:53.840 as President Trump?

00:36:54.180 Absolutely not. 0.93

00:36:55.260 That is silly

00:36:55.980 to even think 0.97

00:36:57.560 and equate

00:36:58.480 the two.

00:36:59.340 One is human,

00:37:00.120 the other is

00:37:00.580 human.

00:37:00.640 Is it true

00:37:01.020 that you just

00:37:01.500 think that he's

00:37:01.980 more polished

00:37:02.680 than Trump?

00:37:03.920 Awkward.

00:37:04.840 And by the way,

00:37:05.820 Tucker Carlson

00:37:06.420 was making jokes

00:37:07.160 on a shock

00:37:07.600 show Ilhan Omar

00:37:08.720 is speaking

00:37:09.220 seriously in

00:37:10.100 the halls

00:37:10.400 of Congress,

00:37:11.540 both saying

00:37:12.040 that human

00:37:12.380 beings aren't

00:37:12.960 humans.

00:37:14.400 Ugh,

00:37:14.940 it's a lot

00:37:15.320 worse when

00:37:15.700 Ilhan Omar

00:37:16.240 does it,

00:37:16.700 isn't it?

00:37:17.100 Ugh,

00:37:17.480 it's exactly

00:37:17.980 the same

00:37:18.320 thing with

00:37:18.840 exactly the

00:37:19.380 same words.

00:37:19.980 Ugh,

00:37:20.620 yikes, 0.98

00:37:21.040 that's not

00:37:21.360 good.

00:37:22.060 Almost

00:37:22.380 exactly the

00:37:23.020 same words,

00:37:23.540 same point.

00:37:24.300 Ugh,

00:37:25.480 so awkward.

00:37:26.960 Yeah,

00:37:27.220 of course,

00:37:27.560 you shouldn't

00:37:27.840 do that.

00:37:28.460 I guess

00:37:29.000 you might

00:37:29.720 say what

00:37:30.240 Tucker Carlson

00:37:30.920 was saying

00:37:31.320 was an

00:37:32.300 offensive joke.

00:37:33.920 Would you

00:37:34.480 say that?

00:37:34.860 I guess you

00:37:35.260 could.

00:37:36.360 But he's

00:37:36.800 saying offensive

00:37:37.560 things.

00:37:38.500 No,

00:37:38.920 you can't

00:37:39.400 defend

00:37:39.820 offensive

00:37:40.540 things.

00:37:42.380 You can.

00:37:43.620 You can.

00:37:44.280 You don't

00:37:44.620 defend the

00:37:45.140 points,

00:37:45.760 I guess,

00:37:46.020 but you

00:37:46.240 defend saying

00:37:46.880 offensive

00:37:47.200 things because

00:37:48.080 of context.

00:37:51.020 If you're

00:37:51.560 on a shock

00:37:51.980 jock show,

00:37:52.480 you're going

00:37:52.680 to talk like

00:37:53.160 that.

00:37:54.040 Now,

00:37:54.260 you might

00:37:54.500 say,

00:37:54.820 well,

00:37:54.980 he shouldn't

00:37:55.860 have gone

00:37:56.240 on that

00:37:56.640 show.

00:37:57.180 Okay,

00:37:57.600 fine,

00:37:58.040 you can

00:37:58.240 give Tucker

00:37:58.700 Carlson

00:37:59.100 career advice,

00:38:00.340 I guess.

00:38:01.700 Fair enough.

00:38:03.680 Here's an

00:38:04.220 example,

00:38:04.660 though.

00:38:04.920 Here's the

00:38:05.200 example of

00:38:05.580 why context

00:38:06.140 really matters.

00:38:07.560 I try my

00:38:08.540 best not

00:38:09.240 to use curse

00:38:09.920 words on

00:38:10.320 this show.

00:38:11.720 I don't

00:38:12.440 think I

00:38:12.740 have before,

00:38:13.260 maybe I

00:38:13.520 have once

00:38:13.840 or twice,

00:38:14.560 but I

00:38:15.040 certainly

00:38:15.360 intend not

00:38:16.220 to.

00:38:17.460 Now,

00:38:17.760 if I'm

00:38:18.000 at the

00:38:18.240 bar at

00:38:19.980 midnight with

00:38:21.760 the boys

00:38:22.220 smoking a

00:38:22.820 cigar,

00:38:23.500 I will

00:38:24.080 use curse

00:38:24.620 words.

00:38:25.900 It doesn't

00:38:26.560 make me a

00:38:27.120 hypocrite because 0.95

00:38:28.100 I don't use 1.00

00:38:28.660 curse words on

00:38:29.300 this show if

00:38:31.140 I say them

00:38:31.620 at the bar

00:38:32.120 because context

00:38:34.100 matters.

00:38:34.880 Context matters

00:38:35.700 a lot.

00:38:36.400 It's

00:38:36.520 inappropriate to

00:38:38.020 say these

00:38:38.460 sort of

00:38:38.760 things in

00:38:40.140 a polite

00:38:40.980 civilized

00:38:41.520 forum.

00:38:42.860 It is

00:38:43.660 much more

00:38:45.040 appropriate to

00:38:45.660 say these

00:38:45.980 things if

00:38:46.360 you're telling

00:38:46.680 a joke with

00:38:47.420 the boys or

00:38:48.400 if you're

00:38:48.640 talking to

00:38:49.160 a shock

00:38:49.520 jock.

00:38:51.420 Now,

00:38:51.940 the real

00:38:52.500 question,

00:38:53.060 because we've

00:38:53.380 bought into

00:38:54.500 Media Matters'

00:38:55.180 hands,

00:38:55.600 we've done

00:38:56.080 what they

00:38:56.360 want us

00:38:56.660 to do.

00:38:58.160 Why are

00:38:58.700 we talking

00:38:59.060 about Tucker

00:38:59.460 Carlson?

00:38:59.860 Why are

00:39:01.440 we talking

00:39:01.840 about him

00:39:02.200 at all?

00:39:03.620 You know,

00:39:03.900 they use the

00:39:04.300 phrase,

00:39:04.760 audio was

00:39:05.420 unearthed.

00:39:06.780 It didn't

00:39:07.160 just dig

00:39:07.660 itself up

00:39:08.140 from the

00:39:08.400 ground.

00:39:09.000 It's not

00:39:09.340 like a

00:39:09.740 potato,

00:39:10.440 you know,

00:39:10.660 growing up.

00:39:11.160 No.

00:39:11.840 Uh-uh.

00:39:12.840 It didn't

00:39:13.300 do that.

00:39:14.460 Media Matters

00:39:15.380 paid somebody

00:39:16.500 a lot of

00:39:17.060 money to

00:39:17.900 find anything

00:39:18.480 that they

00:39:18.840 could find

00:39:19.500 to try to

00:39:20.220 take down

00:39:20.600 Tucker

00:39:20.840 Carlson.

00:39:21.340 Why?

00:39:22.000 Because

00:39:22.360 Media Matters

00:39:23.160 believes that

00:39:23.920 Tucker

00:39:24.220 Carlson's

00:39:24.780 voice and

00:39:25.420 his show

00:39:25.980 is a threat

00:39:27.160 to the

00:39:27.680 left's

00:39:28.180 agenda.

00:39:29.560 That's why

00:39:30.140 if Tucker

00:39:30.840 Carlson

00:39:31.160 weren't a

00:39:31.500 threat,

00:39:31.840 Media Matters

00:39:32.360 wouldn't have

00:39:32.640 spent a lot

00:39:33.060 of money

00:39:33.400 to pay

00:39:34.060 somebody

00:39:34.460 to dig

00:39:35.120 up dirt

00:39:35.640 on Tucker

00:39:36.120 Carlson

00:39:36.520 to try

00:39:36.900 to shut 0.69

00:39:37.220 him up.

00:39:40.000 And what

00:39:40.480 did they

00:39:40.700 find?

00:39:40.860 They found

00:39:41.160 that he

00:39:41.400 talked to

00:39:41.760 a shock

00:39:42.120 jock once.

00:39:42.740 What are

00:39:42.900 they going

00:39:43.100 to find

00:39:43.360 on me?

00:39:43.700 They're

00:39:43.780 going to

00:39:43.940 find I

00:39:44.200 talked to

00:39:44.520 a guy

00:39:44.760 in a

00:39:44.960 bar and

00:39:45.260 I used

00:39:45.540 some

00:39:45.760 naughty

00:39:45.980 language.

00:39:46.780 That's

00:39:47.000 the word

00:39:47.240 Tucker.

00:39:47.560 He said,

00:39:47.960 I used

00:39:48.380 naughty

00:39:48.620 language

00:39:49.000 with a

00:39:49.240 shock

00:39:49.460 jock.

00:39:49.820 Yeah,

00:39:50.040 that's

00:39:50.180 the

00:39:50.340 appropriate

00:39:50.680 word to

00:39:51.540 describe it.

00:39:52.740 What are

00:39:53.240 they going

00:39:53.440 to find?

00:39:53.920 They're going

00:39:54.100 to say,

00:39:54.320 oh my

00:39:54.560 gosh,

00:39:55.080 so and

00:39:55.400 so made

00:39:56.320 a joke

00:39:56.900 15 years

00:39:57.720 ago.

00:39:58.540 Off with 0.90

00:39:59.140 his head.

00:40:00.500 They're not

00:40:01.160 doing it

00:40:01.540 because they're

00:40:01.900 offended by

00:40:02.380 the jokes.

00:40:03.320 They're doing

00:40:03.860 it because

00:40:04.280 they want

00:40:04.780 to silence

00:40:05.560 his serious

00:40:06.520 work.

00:40:07.820 What does

00:40:08.140 this matter?

00:40:09.240 What does

00:40:09.720 it matter?

00:40:10.140 Tucker

00:40:10.340 Carlson

00:40:10.740 is a

00:40:11.040 media

00:40:11.220 figure.

00:40:12.460 He is

00:40:12.700 not a

00:40:13.040 politician.

00:40:14.180 He's

00:40:14.640 not serving

00:40:15.580 in Congress.

00:40:16.480 Even if

00:40:17.120 Tucker

00:40:17.360 Carlson

00:40:17.780 made those

00:40:18.260 jokes today

00:40:19.300 on his

00:40:19.740 Fox show,

00:40:21.240 he is

00:40:21.620 still a

00:40:22.240 media

00:40:22.440 figure.

00:40:23.400 He is

00:40:23.760 still

00:40:24.180 not a

00:40:25.460 legislator.

00:40:27.700 It's

00:40:28.240 very

00:40:28.500 different

00:40:28.840 than

00:40:29.040 Ilhan

00:40:29.400 Omar,

00:40:30.140 who used

00:40:31.680 exactly

00:40:32.300 the same

00:40:32.860 points

00:40:33.280 that

00:40:33.460 Tucker

00:40:33.700 did.

00:40:35.240 Now,

00:40:35.900 there is

00:40:36.360 a flip

00:40:36.700 side to

00:40:37.060 this,

00:40:37.420 because I

00:40:37.720 will grant

00:40:38.340 the reason

00:40:38.940 that we're

00:40:39.200 talking about

00:40:39.800 this

00:40:40.040 media

00:40:40.620 matters

00:40:40.980 thing,

00:40:41.200 the reason

00:40:41.500 that their

00:40:41.800 attack

00:40:42.100 worked,

00:40:42.840 is because

00:40:43.280 in politics

00:40:44.120 or political

00:40:44.760 media,

00:40:45.940 your

00:40:46.340 language

00:40:47.260 is your

00:40:48.220 instrument,

00:40:48.960 your words,

00:40:49.740 or the

00:40:50.240 instrument

00:40:50.740 of

00:40:51.380 politics.

00:40:52.380 Politics

00:40:52.700 is just

00:40:53.100 meaningful

00:40:53.460 speech.

00:40:55.020 Tucker

00:40:55.240 knows

00:40:55.540 this.

00:40:56.660 So when

00:40:57.000 he goes

00:40:57.200 on the

00:40:57.420 shock

00:40:57.620 jock

00:40:57.820 show,

00:40:58.020 he talks

00:40:58.260 like a

00:40:58.500 shock

00:40:58.700 jock.

00:41:00.380 It'd

00:41:00.900 be like,

00:41:02.560 let's

00:41:03.520 say that

00:41:03.860 you're a

00:41:04.260 classically

00:41:04.740 trained

00:41:05.100 violinist

00:41:05.660 and you

00:41:05.900 love to

00:41:06.240 play

00:41:06.420 Brahms.

00:41:07.780 You

00:41:08.300 don't

00:41:08.660 join a

00:41:09.220 rock

00:41:09.500 band

00:41:09.940 to play

00:41:10.620 Brahms.

00:41:11.440 You

00:41:11.560 don't

00:41:11.760 show up

00:41:12.100 to the

00:41:12.340 rock

00:41:12.600 band

00:41:13.060 rehearsal

00:41:13.740 and

00:41:14.440 start

00:41:14.680 playing

00:41:15.180 the

00:41:15.480 Brandenburg

00:41:16.020 Concerto

00:41:16.540 or

00:41:16.980 something,

00:41:18.040 or the

00:41:18.320 Mass in B

00:41:18.920 minor.

00:41:20.500 You

00:41:20.900 don't

00:41:21.120 do

00:41:21.260 that.

00:41:23.480 You

00:41:23.880 play the

00:41:24.340 rock music

00:41:24.900 or you

00:41:25.400 don't

00:41:25.640 join the

00:41:26.020 rock

00:41:26.240 band.

00:41:28.380 So this

00:41:28.980 is why

00:41:29.420 the fair

00:41:30.500 criticism is

00:41:31.120 Tucker

00:41:31.540 shouldn't

00:41:31.840 have gone

00:41:32.080 on this

00:41:32.380 show.

00:41:32.940 I don't

00:41:33.360 think I

00:41:33.640 would go

00:41:33.900 on a

00:41:34.120 show like

00:41:34.440 that.

00:41:34.880 Probably

00:41:35.220 not.

00:41:35.440 If I

00:41:35.660 did,

00:41:35.960 maybe I'd

00:41:36.240 try to

00:41:36.580 be a

00:41:37.460 little

00:41:37.560 less

00:41:37.920 salty.

00:41:39.360 But who

00:41:39.660 knows?

00:41:40.020 People go

00:41:40.780 through

00:41:40.920 different

00:41:41.160 phases in

00:41:41.660 their

00:41:41.780 careers and

00:41:42.780 in their

00:41:43.000 life and

00:41:43.360 their

00:41:43.500 personalities.

00:41:43.980 This

00:41:45.200 is why

00:41:45.540 people have

00:41:45.980 to be

00:41:46.180 very careful

00:41:46.720 with words

00:41:47.360 in this

00:41:47.680 day and

00:41:47.980 age.

00:41:48.260 It's

00:41:48.320 because

00:41:48.480 everything

00:41:48.800 you say

00:41:49.200 is recorded

00:41:49.740 forever.

00:41:51.300 But what

00:41:51.700 really matters?

00:41:52.640 Okay,

00:41:52.900 I'm willing to

00:41:53.400 grant that.

00:41:53.900 Speech really

00:41:54.320 matters.

00:41:55.660 Speech

00:41:56.140 matters in

00:41:57.240 politics.

00:41:58.020 But what

00:41:58.300 really matters

00:41:58.960 at this

00:41:59.500 moment,

00:42:00.100 in this

00:42:00.520 context,

00:42:01.440 listen to

00:42:01.840 Chris Cuomo's

00:42:02.440 take.

00:42:03.100 This BS is

00:42:03.880 currency for

00:42:04.580 them.

00:42:04.860 They get

00:42:05.160 paid for

00:42:05.740 this.

00:42:06.440 The base

00:42:06.980 likes their

00:42:07.860 heroes to

00:42:08.580 be base.

00:42:09.720 They've seen

00:42:10.320 this president

00:42:10.860 make it to

00:42:11.420 the White

00:42:11.780 House in

00:42:12.220 part by

00:42:12.580 doing the

00:42:13.020 same thing.

00:42:14.120 Now,

00:42:14.400 a lot of

00:42:14.680 this stuff

00:42:15.060 that's coming

00:42:15.500 up,

00:42:15.740 at least

00:42:15.960 about

00:42:16.220 Carlson,

00:42:16.680 is from

00:42:16.920 years ago

00:42:17.480 when he

00:42:18.260 was desperate

00:42:18.940 for attention.

00:42:20.200 Here's the

00:42:20.580 test.

00:42:21.480 Would he

00:42:21.780 say the

00:42:22.220 same things

00:42:22.740 today?

00:42:23.820 No,

00:42:24.300 no,

00:42:24.540 he's too

00:42:24.860 busy playing

00:42:25.400 the victim.

00:42:26.480 He'd only

00:42:26.920 say that he

00:42:27.520 was naughty.

00:42:29.140 But he

00:42:29.560 wouldn't repeat

00:42:30.140 them tonight.

00:42:30.740 Why not?

00:42:32.300 Come on,

00:42:32.760 big man.

00:42:33.760 Read the

00:42:34.240 list of

00:42:34.720 all the

00:42:35.140 things that

00:42:35.600 you said

00:42:36.140 and do

00:42:36.720 it again

00:42:37.160 and show

00:42:37.560 that you

00:42:37.880 mean it.

00:42:39.740 Come on.

00:42:40.800 You're not

00:42:41.080 more about

00:42:41.540 the money

00:42:42.060 now than

00:42:42.580 you are

00:42:42.860 about the

00:42:43.280 truth,

00:42:43.720 are you?

00:42:44.980 He says

00:42:45.540 apologizing

00:42:46.520 to the

00:42:46.940 mob

00:42:47.380 costs

00:42:47.840 people

00:42:48.260 their jobs.

00:42:49.500 What a 1.00

00:42:49.840 coward. 1.00

00:42:50.960 Why don't 1.00

00:42:51.220 you repeat

00:42:51.600 what you

00:42:51.900 said if

00:42:52.260 it's not

00:42:52.580 such a

00:42:52.880 big deal?

00:42:53.620 You're

00:42:53.760 not going

00:42:54.000 to

00:42:54.120 apologize.

00:42:55.780 He's

00:42:55.960 being

00:42:56.220 treated

00:42:56.680 unfairly

00:42:57.440 by those

00:42:57.860 criticizing

00:42:58.520 the same.

00:42:59.080 Give me

00:42:59.240 a break.

00:42:59.720 See this

00:43:00.880 guy and

00:43:01.340 the others

00:43:01.740 for what

00:43:02.160 they are.

00:43:03.200 If you

00:43:03.400 mean it,

00:43:04.200 own it.

00:43:04.880 Don't just

00:43:05.220 protect your

00:43:05.740 money and

00:43:06.100 your fame or

00:43:06.780 infamy in

00:43:07.320 your case.

00:43:08.840 Apologize if

00:43:09.460 you want,

00:43:09.800 but that takes

00:43:10.260 character.

00:43:11.040 That is

00:43:11.380 strength.

00:43:12.080 That is

00:43:12.440 integrity.

00:43:13.340 Own that

00:43:13.720 you did

00:43:14.060 something wrong.

00:43:15.620 Character.

00:43:17.280 Integrity.

00:43:18.640 Own that

00:43:19.140 you do

00:43:19.460 something wrong.

00:43:20.220 The

00:43:22.380 mainstream media

00:43:23.260 along with

00:43:24.980 media matters

00:43:25.720 think that

00:43:26.700 Tucker is

00:43:27.940 dangerous to

00:43:28.680 their agenda.

00:43:29.320 And what's

00:43:29.560 the agenda?

00:43:30.180 Well,

00:43:30.400 here's just

00:43:30.700 one example.

00:43:31.620 Chris Cuomo's

00:43:32.400 brother,

00:43:32.840 Andrew Cuomo,

00:43:33.880 just legalized

00:43:34.640 the killing

00:43:35.080 of babies 0.56

00:43:35.680 as they're

00:43:36.220 being born

00:43:36.740 in the

00:43:37.000 state of

00:43:37.280 New York

00:43:37.660 and he

00:43:38.180 took away

00:43:38.540 the protections

00:43:39.140 where if

00:43:40.380 their mother

00:43:40.740 is killed,

00:43:42.380 that would

00:43:43.260 be counted

00:43:43.660 as double

00:43:44.280 murder.

00:43:45.060 Now,

00:43:45.440 that's not

00:43:45.780 counted as

00:43:46.200 double murder

00:43:46.640 even if she's

00:43:47.200 nine months

00:43:47.600 pregnant.

00:43:48.740 And then

00:43:49.000 he cheered

00:43:49.480 it on and

00:43:49.940 then he

00:43:50.120 said God

00:43:50.540 bless you

00:43:51.020 to all

00:43:51.360 of the

00:43:51.560 infanticidal 0.99

00:43:52.260 maniacs 0.99

00:43:52.960 who were

00:43:53.440 there

00:43:53.620 clamoring 1.00

00:43:54.160 to kill 1.00

00:43:54.520 babies 1.00

00:43:54.860 as they're

00:43:55.140 being born.

00:43:56.660 That's

00:43:57.000 Chris Cuomo's

00:43:57.620 brother.

00:43:59.080 That's one,

00:43:59.600 okay,

00:43:59.900 that's one

00:44:00.240 thing to

00:44:00.540 consider.

00:44:01.740 And Tucker

00:44:02.400 Carlson,

00:44:02.920 13 years

00:44:03.440 ago,

00:44:03.720 told offensive

00:44:04.200 jokes on

00:44:04.620 a shock

00:44:04.920 jock show.

00:44:06.380 What matters

00:44:07.240 here?

00:44:08.420 The reason

00:44:09.200 they're

00:44:09.460 connected,

00:44:10.500 the reason

00:44:10.860 this isn't

00:44:11.440 the left

00:44:12.900 likes to

00:44:13.320 accuse us

00:44:13.760 of what

00:44:14.160 about-ism,

00:44:15.220 the reason

00:44:15.700 this isn't

00:44:16.140 what about-ism

00:44:16.840 is that

00:44:17.780 the left

00:44:19.460 isn't actually

00:44:20.480 upset about

00:44:21.260 the salty

00:44:21.680 language.

00:44:22.240 The left

00:44:22.440 uses plenty

00:44:22.960 of salty

00:44:23.320 language

00:44:23.700 themselves.

00:44:24.640 What the

00:44:24.880 left is

00:44:25.220 upset about

00:44:25.840 is that

00:44:26.520 Tucker Carlson

00:44:27.220 is having

00:44:27.580 an impact

00:44:28.180 on our

00:44:28.800 politics,

00:44:29.500 is influencing

00:44:30.140 people to

00:44:30.640 oppose their

00:44:31.120 agenda.

00:44:31.540 And what

00:44:31.700 is their

00:44:31.940 agenda? 0.94

00:44:32.440 Killing 1.00

00:44:32.700 babies as 1.00

00:44:33.200 they're

00:44:33.320 being born.

00:44:33.960 Whose

00:44:34.120 agenda

00:44:34.440 is it?

00:44:34.880 Not

00:44:35.140 just the

00:44:35.480 left

00:44:35.660 broadly,

00:44:36.200 not just

00:44:36.520 some 0.97

00:44:36.700 wacko

00:44:37.060 in

00:44:37.200 Virginia,

00:44:37.880 Chris Cuomo's

00:44:38.560 brother,

00:44:39.160 Chris Cuomo,

00:44:39.700 Fredo Cuomo,

00:44:42.100 now I sound

00:44:42.520 like Chris Cuomo,

00:44:43.380 Chris Cuomo's

00:44:44.160 brother.

00:44:45.060 He talks about

00:44:45.820 integrity,

00:44:46.280 about character.

00:44:48.700 I'll take the

00:44:49.720 man who uses

00:44:50.360 salty offensive

00:44:51.140 language any

00:44:51.980 day over the

00:44:52.560 one who kills

00:44:53.000 a baby as

00:44:53.460 he's being

00:44:53.760 born.

00:44:55.940 Context really,

00:44:56.840 really matters

00:44:57.340 here.

00:44:57.920 Which is more

00:44:58.480 important?

00:44:59.440 By the way,

00:45:00.140 media matters,

00:45:00.760 they'll do it to

00:45:01.220 every one of us.

00:45:02.120 They will do it

00:45:02.640 to every single

00:45:03.640 one of us,

00:45:04.420 anyone that they

00:45:05.160 deem a threat.

00:45:06.960 They'll find

00:45:07.780 something we

00:45:08.460 said, you know,

00:45:10.360 at, I don't

00:45:11.520 know, Howard

00:45:12.040 Stern's bar

00:45:12.720 mitzvah in

00:45:13.300 1981 or

00:45:14.160 something, and

00:45:14.660 they will use

00:45:15.680 it.

00:45:16.280 They will

00:45:16.940 use it to

00:45:17.400 try to

00:45:17.700 shut you 0.76

00:45:18.080 up. 0.97

00:45:18.300 It has

00:45:18.460 nothing to

00:45:19.080 do with

00:45:19.360 what they

00:45:19.660 said.

00:45:20.200 We are

00:45:20.420 not

00:45:20.620 debating

00:45:21.060 what

00:45:22.160 Tucker

00:45:22.420 Carlson

00:45:22.820 said.

00:45:23.240 What

00:45:23.440 Tucker

00:45:23.680 Carlson

00:45:24.040 said is

00:45:24.400 meaningless.

00:45:25.100 It doesn't

00:45:25.540 matter at

00:45:26.160 all.

00:45:27.460 It is just

00:45:28.380 an excuse

00:45:28.840 to fight an

00:45:29.420 actual battle

00:45:30.140 over policies,

00:45:32.300 over which

00:45:32.900 direction this

00:45:33.460 country is

00:45:33.840 going to go

00:45:34.200 in.

00:45:35.520 So much

00:45:36.140 more to

00:45:36.420 get to.

00:45:36.820 We've

00:45:36.960 got to

00:45:37.120 talk about

00:45:37.640 why it

00:45:39.080 is that

00:45:39.840 it always

00:45:40.680 seems like

00:45:41.500 big people

00:45:42.820 on the

00:45:43.140 left move

00:45:43.840 over to

00:45:44.160 the right,

00:45:44.500 but big

00:45:44.840 people on

00:45:45.180 the right

00:45:45.440 don't move

00:45:45.800 over to

00:45:46.080 the left.

00:45:46.740 Talk about

00:45:47.120 that with

00:45:47.400 regard to

00:45:47.780 Greenpeace

00:45:48.200 and impeachment,

00:45:49.060 but ran

00:45:50.320 out of time.

00:45:51.380 I will be

00:45:52.000 back in the

00:45:52.460 studio tomorrow,

00:45:53.320 so I guess

00:45:53.660 we'll see you

00:45:54.060 then.

00:45:54.220 We'll have to

00:45:54.520 talk about it

00:45:55.120 tomorrow.

00:45:55.800 In the meantime,

00:45:56.240 I'm Michael

00:45:56.580 Knowles.

00:45:56.860 this is the

00:45:57.280 Michael Knowles

00:46:28.980 responds to

00:46:29.680 his detractors

00:46:30.460 and YouTube

00:46:30.980 talks about

00:46:31.640 censoring

00:46:32.000 conservatives.

00:46:32.700 That's today

00:46:33.080 on the Ben
