00:02:25.900 The Empire strikes back.
00:02:29.580 The hoaxers strike back.
00:02:30.980 Jussie Smollett walks free.
00:02:34.420 A true miscarriage of justice.
00:02:36.620 I gotta tell you something, folks.
00:02:38.660 I'm starting to have a little hunch that maybe Chicago is corrupt.
00:02:44.740 I don't want to be telling tales out of school.
00:02:47.020 I don't want to be running my mouth if that isn't true.
00:02:49.180 But I'm just, I don't know what it is.
00:02:51.500 Something about Chicago just doesn't seem quite right.
00:02:54.300 And so now Cook County prosecutors over there have dropped all charges against friend of the Obamas, Jussie Smollett.
00:03:03.960 Guy who smiles in photos with the Obamas, Jussie Smollett, who also come from Chicago.
00:03:08.580 Now, what are the terms of this?
00:03:10.880 He has to surrender his bond.
00:03:12.920 So when he was arrested, he posted, posts $10,000 bond.
00:03:16.820 And he has to do 16 hours of community service.
00:03:20.980 So less than one day of community service.
00:03:24.300 And he surrenders his bond, and then he goes free.
00:03:26.640 This is what the state attorney said.
00:03:28.160 Quote,
00:03:28.460 We looked at all the facts and circumstances of the case, the resources that we have,
00:03:33.660 our priority of addressing violent crime, Smollett's criminal background,
00:03:38.940 his lack of criminal background.
00:03:40.940 He didn't have any felonies or violent felonies in his background.
00:03:43.880 Based on all those facts and circumstances, this was a just outcome in the case.
00:03:49.860 Here's what Jussie Smollett says about it.
00:03:51.880 First of all, I want to thank my family, my friends, the incredible people of Chicago and all over the country and the world who have prayed for me,
00:04:00.420 who have supported me, who have shown me so much love.
00:04:03.060 No one will ever know how much that has meant to me, and I will forever be grateful.
00:04:08.280 I want you to know that not for a moment was it in vain.
00:04:14.180 I have been truthful and consistent on every single level since day one.
00:04:18.240 I would not be my mother's son if I was capable of one drop of what I have been accused of.
00:04:22.780 This has been an incredibly difficult time, honestly, one of the worst of my entire life.
00:04:29.280 But I am a man of faith, and I am a man that has knowledge of my history,
00:04:33.240 and I would not bring my family, our lives, or the movement through a fire like this.
00:04:37.840 I just wouldn't.
00:04:39.580 So I want to thank my legal counsel from the bottom of my heart.
00:04:43.680 And I would also like to thank the state of Illinois for attempting to do what's right.
00:04:48.420 Now, I'd like nothing more than to just get back to work and move on with my life.
00:04:55.820 But make no mistakes.
00:04:56.980 I will always continue to fight for the justice, equality, and betterment of marginalized people everywhere.
00:05:01.820 So again, thank you for all the support.
00:05:04.180 Thank you for faith, and thank you to God.
00:05:06.360 Bless y'all. Thank you very much.
00:05:08.520 Where to begin?
00:05:11.300 He says he's been truthful since day one of this whole ordeal.
00:05:16.340 If he's been truthful, why does he have to surrender his $10,000 bond and do community service?
00:05:24.100 If he's done nothing wrong, why does he still have to be punished?
00:05:30.200 I mean, look, there are so many reasons here why it's obvious that the guy did it.
00:05:35.580 But just in the first place, if he actually were innocent,
00:05:40.360 I mean, if he actually were innocent, you wouldn't have signed checks from him paying off the people who attacked him.
00:05:44.920 You wouldn't have him getting caught in obvious lies.
00:05:47.040 You wouldn't have had any of this.
00:05:49.260 But even if that were the—let's say he actually were innocent,
00:05:53.040 then he would go out there and say, this is a miscarriage of justice.
00:05:55.960 I'm not surrendering my $10,000 bond.
00:05:58.120 I'm not doing community service because I did nothing wrong.
00:06:00.980 And I'm going to fight hard.
00:06:02.620 Of course he doesn't do that.
00:06:04.460 Because this was a crooked deal.
00:06:05.760 And he got let off the hook because he's a famous rich guy,
00:06:09.900 because Chicago is super-duper corrupt,
00:06:12.300 and because he plays the racial and sexual victim.
00:06:15.980 And so he gets let off the hook.
00:06:18.040 And it's just the arrogance.
00:06:19.940 It's just the fact—I mean, he's—I guess he's pretty good on that show, Empire,
00:06:24.400 but he's giving a terrible performance here.
00:06:26.360 And he gave a terrible performance on TV when he was first being interviewed about the attack.
00:06:31.400 He says, I would never—I would never do this.
00:06:33.960 I would not be my mother's son.
00:06:35.360 Well, I—I don't know.
00:06:36.720 I guess it's a wise man knows his own parents or something,
00:06:38.880 because this guy obviously did it.
00:06:42.800 And then I would never let the movement down like that.
00:06:45.780 What movement?
00:06:47.680 What movement are you letting—what?
00:06:50.000 The—I don't even know.
00:06:52.680 I don't know.
00:06:53.400 Because he plays the victim as a gay guy.
00:06:55.100 He plays the victim as a black guy.
00:06:57.220 He plays the victim probably as an actor,
00:06:59.240 the most oppressed group of people of all.
00:07:02.680 And yet he did it.
00:07:03.920 He's obviously guilty.
00:07:05.520 And what's so awful about this is the—the state attorney's office,
00:07:10.700 while forcing him to take this punishment,
00:07:13.580 is in a sense forcing him to acknowledge guilt.
00:07:16.980 But they're not explicitly forcing him to acknowledge guilt.
00:07:20.120 So he gets to go out there and say, I'm perfectly innocent.
00:07:22.700 Shh, here's my $10,000.
00:07:24.240 Yeah, I'll do community service for some corrupt organization.
00:07:26.600 But okay, there you go.
00:07:27.780 There you go.
00:07:29.240 Doesn't even have to acknowledge it.
00:07:31.520 You know this is bad because even left-wing former chief of staff to Barack Obama,
00:07:39.340 mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, is coming out strong against these actions.
00:07:45.140 Where is the accountability in the system?
00:07:48.080 You cannot have, because of a person's position,
00:07:50.660 one set of rules apply to them.
00:07:54.940 And another set of rules apply to everybody else.
00:07:58.280 In another way, you're seeing this play out in the universities,
00:08:02.120 where people pay extra to get their kids a special position in universities.
00:08:07.000 Now you have a person, because of their position and background,
00:08:10.160 who's getting treated in a way that nobody else would ever, sorry about that,
00:08:13.860 would, don't get near, I'm doing near my sermon here,
00:08:16.960 that would ever get close to this type of treatment.
00:08:20.560 He makes a good point.
00:08:22.380 But you don't, what he is doing is relating this to the injustice in that university scandal.
00:08:28.620 Saying there's one set of rules for rich, famous people,
00:08:31.080 and there's another set of rules for everybody else.
00:08:33.800 But you even see this in the relation to the Russia hoax.
00:08:38.320 Because the hoaxers are unrepentant.
00:08:41.120 This is the problem.
00:08:41.960 I mean, this is why conservatives, once we finish celebrating that this two-year narrative
00:08:47.900 from Democrats completely fell apart over the weekend,
00:08:50.560 now we're a little bit angry.
00:08:53.880 Because you've got people who have been pushing this lie for two years,
00:08:57.940 they're unrepentant.
00:08:59.720 Say, no, yeah, no, never mind.
00:09:01.340 La, la, la, don't care about reality.
00:09:03.060 La, la, la, I didn't do it.
00:09:04.640 I would never do this.
00:09:05.660 La, la, two giant Nigerian anti-black racists that I'm friends with
00:09:09.880 and that I paid thousands of dollars to attack me because I'm a black gay guy.
00:09:13.040 La, la, la, la, la, la, la.
00:09:14.160 That's what they're doing.
00:09:16.060 It's Russian collusion all over again.
00:09:19.020 And the question is, how is this going to be remembered?
00:09:22.120 At least Rahm Emanuel comes out there.
00:09:24.160 At least Rahm Emanuel says this is a miscarriage of justice.
00:09:26.660 But how is already this is being spun by CNN, by people who watch CNN,
00:09:33.300 which I guess is just sort of people walking through airports,
00:09:35.820 but by people who read the New York Times,
00:09:37.400 by people who pay attention to the mainstream media,
00:09:39.280 by people who are listening to gossip mills on social media,
00:09:43.300 they're saying, gosh, well, I guess Jussie didn't do it.
00:09:46.040 They let him off the hook.
00:09:46.920 I guess he didn't do it.
00:09:47.840 Even Wolf Blitzer on CNN is saying, well, come on.
00:09:51.400 I mean, maybe he didn't do it.
00:09:52.720 And Rahm Emanuel goes on CNN just so that no one thinks he's mincing words
00:09:57.560 and lays it out in excellent detail.
00:10:00.380 Let me ask you this, Mayor.
00:10:01.780 Was the full picture painted by the evidence
00:10:06.040 perhaps not as compelling as what was presented to the grand jury?
00:10:10.900 It was compelling enough.
00:10:13.000 Well, wait a second.
00:10:13.900 The evidence presented to the grand jury is what brought the charges.
00:10:16.220 But did new questions arise in the subsequent weeks from more evidence that might be out there?
00:10:21.640 That's not what the state's attorney just said today.
00:10:24.860 They said, in fact, the police did a good job and the evidence holds up.
00:10:28.300 And he actually did commit the hoax.
00:10:30.420 They're saying $10,000 and two days of community service is good enough.
00:10:35.560 And I don't believe, not only is it not good enough, especially when he's walking around
00:10:39.860 thinking that he is actually innocent, not guilty,
00:10:44.580 and B, he's innocent not only legally and a criminal justice sense,
00:10:50.220 he is also guilty, in my view, of a moral crime,
00:10:54.160 which is to use the hate crimes to advance his own career for selfish reasons.
00:10:58.860 And that, to me, is where there's a moral violation and a rip.
00:11:03.440 Because he went out and spoke on ABC to the country.
00:11:08.580 As an African-American and a gay man about being a victim of a crime.
00:11:13.020 And then what comes forward and what we actually now know to be the case,
00:11:16.680 and even the state's attorney today acknowledged,
00:11:18.920 is the fact that that was all a hoax.
00:11:21.200 He says it very well.
00:11:22.400 Rahm Emanuel, a smart guy.
00:11:23.980 He's a partisan.
00:11:24.760 He's a Democrat.
00:11:25.340 He is what he is, but he's making a clear point here.
00:11:29.440 And so you have to ask yourself, why is Rahm doing this?
00:11:33.420 I mean, Rahm is as much a party man as anybody else.
00:11:36.980 He worked for the Clintons.
00:11:37.980 He worked for Obama.
00:11:38.980 He's the mayor of Chicago, the most corrupt Democrat city in the country.
00:11:42.060 So why is he coming out so strongly against this intersectional example of politics?
00:11:48.060 Why is he coming out so strongly against this hoax?
00:11:50.180 He's doing it because it's so absurd.
00:11:53.500 He's doing it because it's indefensible.
00:11:56.880 If it were defensible and it would help him, he would probably defend it.
00:12:00.140 But it's indefensible.
00:12:01.500 It's pure corruption.
00:12:03.160 And Rahm Emanuel doesn't want to be lumped in with this.
00:12:05.560 If the Cook County prosecutors want to debase themselves,
00:12:09.020 I mean, I don't know if it's possible even to do that
00:12:11.280 to people who are so degraded as Cook County prosecutors.
00:12:16.000 But he doesn't want to be lumped in with them.
00:12:18.780 He has national ambitions.
00:12:20.140 This guy wants to run for president.
00:12:21.500 He doesn't want to be a part of this.
00:12:23.580 Even the Chicago Tribune says that this is indefensible.
00:12:27.440 They write, quote,
00:12:28.360 It's an indefensible decision, a deal hashed out in secret with,
00:12:33.460 this is outrageous, Smollett not even required to take ownership of his apparent hoax.
00:12:41.720 It is outrageous.
00:12:42.940 We know that.
00:12:43.400 But why else?
00:12:44.220 Why else are these people coming out against it?
00:12:46.880 Why else is maybe this not over?
00:12:48.860 You've got the empire actor strikes back.
00:12:51.900 You've got the fantasy striking back against reality.
00:12:55.120 But Jesse Smollett might still face federal charges.
00:13:00.020 Because actually, the more serious crime than faking this 3 a.m. during a polar vortex,
00:13:07.440 carrying a subway salad, getting attacked by anti-black Nigerians,
00:13:10.960 wearing MAGA hats or whatever nonsense he pretended happened, hoax.
00:13:15.280 More egregious than that is that he sent a hate letter to himself and reported this as a hate crime and as a threat.
00:13:23.640 That's a federal matter.
00:13:25.700 That's not up to Cook County prosecutors.
00:13:28.320 That's not up to Chicago.
00:13:30.100 That's not up to whatever corrupt machine Jesse Smollett has access to.
00:13:35.320 That's up to the feds.
00:13:36.580 Something tells me that the federal government is not going to take too kindly to this.
00:13:42.840 They might take a harsher approach than these crooked prosecutors.
00:13:48.920 Something tells me Jussie Smollett, we have not heard the last of him.
00:13:52.820 And so now the question is, is he going to go back to Empire?
00:13:55.220 Empire, of course, wants him back.
00:13:57.940 They've got this plausibility in defending him now.
00:14:02.360 He's gotten a lot of attention.
00:14:04.240 The ratings will increase, so they kind of want him back.
00:14:07.120 Apparently, the cast is split on this.
00:14:09.420 Half of them think that he did it, and half of them are idiots.
00:14:13.340 I guess that's the breakdown.
00:14:15.320 And so they're kind of split.
00:14:16.860 They don't know what's going to happen.
00:14:18.640 Empire would be very unwise to take this guy back.
00:14:21.640 They would be wise in the short term because they'll get better ratings.
00:14:25.880 They'd be very unwise in the long term because this federal matter isn't over.
00:14:29.880 And doing 16 hours of community service for some fake, bogus, crooked organization in Chicago
00:14:36.300 and surrendering a $10,000 bond ain't going to cut it there.
00:14:40.380 And the hoax is going to reassert itself.
00:14:42.560 We've got to get to the Green New Deal, speaking of hoaxes.
00:14:44.700 But first, let's make a little money, honey, with Bull and Branch.
00:14:48.520 Bull and Branch.
00:14:49.800 Oh, you know, I've been on the road a lot over the last few weeks going to do campus speeches.
00:14:54.780 And all I dream about when I'm able to fall asleep on the road is just getting back to my Bull and Branch sheets.
00:15:01.260 Oh, how I love them.
00:15:02.500 They feel so much better than everything that I had slept on for my previous bachelor days.
00:15:08.540 You don't need to take sleeping pills.
00:15:11.480 You don't need, if you want a good night's sleep, you just need to change your sheets.
00:15:14.640 That's why you should check out Bull and Branch.
00:15:16.460 Everything they make from bedding to blankets is made from pure 100% organic cotton,
00:15:20.660 which means they start out super soft and they get even softer over time.
00:15:23.680 You can buy directly from them, so you're essentially paying wholesale prices.
00:15:27.380 Luxury sheets can cost up to $1,000 in the store, but Bull and Branch sheets, just a couple hundred bucks.
00:15:32.420 Everyone who tries Bull and Branch sheets loves them.
00:15:34.360 That's why they have thousands of five-star reviews.
00:15:36.440 Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Fast Company are all talking about them.
00:15:39.420 Even three U.S. presidents sleep on Bull and Branch sheets.
00:15:43.360 Shipping is free.
00:15:44.020 You can try them for 30 nights.
00:15:45.280 If you don't love them, send them back for a refund.

00:16:10.140 We got another hoax.
00:16:11.540 Not just Jussie Smollett.
00:16:12.840 We've got the Green New Deal hoax.
00:16:14.760 So, you know, Cocaine Mitch, master of the Senate, comes back and schedules a vote for
00:16:22.380 the Green New Deal yesterday.
00:16:24.100 He schedules this vote and AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, wrote the draft legislation.
00:16:33.980 All of the Democrats in the Senate who are running for president didn't just endorse it.
00:16:39.260 They co-sponsored that legislation.
00:16:42.180 They co-sponsored this Green New Deal.
00:16:45.540 So Mitch McConnell said, okay, let's vote on it.
00:16:48.220 You're all co-sponsoring it.
00:16:49.860 Let's vote on the Green New Deal.
00:16:52.020 And they went nuts.
00:16:55.880 Do you know how many Democrats voted for it?
00:16:58.660 Zero.
00:17:00.020 Zero Democrats vote.
00:17:01.240 Now, they couldn't vote no on it either because then they would be totally exposed as hypocrites
00:17:06.160 and frauds.
00:17:06.700 So instead, what they did, at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's encouragement, is they voted present.
00:17:14.780 They didn't vote for the legislation that she wrote and they all co-sponsored.
00:17:20.620 Here is Maisie Hirono, senator from Hawaii, senatrix from Hawaii, on the Judiciary Committee,
00:17:28.640 trying to explain this bewildering action to MSNBC.
00:17:33.060 On the Green New Deal, there was a procedural motion today.
00:17:38.140 Why did so many Democrats vote present on it instead of voting yes for it?
00:17:43.100 Because this was just a sham so-called debate by Mitch McConnell.
00:17:47.860 He wanted to divide the Democrats.
00:17:50.500 And the bottom line is that the Green New Deal is an aspirational document that says we recognize
00:17:56.640 the science behind climate change, unlike Trump and the Republicans and all of the climate
00:18:01.340 deniers who want to stick their heads in the sand.
00:18:03.960 Well, and this and that.
00:18:05.560 Look, is that a butterfly?
00:18:06.540 And hey, look over there, right?
00:18:07.640 It's just a Maisie Hirono-shaped hole in the wall.
00:18:09.980 She's trying to change the subject so much.
00:18:11.700 Just to clear up, though, what she said is she was supposed to answer the question,
00:18:16.880 why did you not vote for this?
00:18:19.240 What happened yesterday in the Senate was there was a vote for the legislation.
00:18:23.640 And Maisie Hirono said, this is a sham.
00:18:26.240 This is not a debate.
00:18:28.380 Right, it's not a debate.
00:18:30.560 That lady on MSNBC didn't ask you about a debate because there wasn't a debate yesterday.
00:18:34.380 It was a vote.
00:18:36.160 Why do you want a debate?
00:18:37.760 The reason that you have a debate, AOC said this too.
00:18:42.000 She said there were no committees.
00:18:43.080 There were no debates.
00:18:43.820 The reason you would have a debate is if someone proposes legislation and then someone objects to voting on that legislation.
00:18:54.820 You need the objection there to have the debate.
00:18:59.460 It would be like me saying, I go up to the candy shop and I say, okay, I want a piece of fudge.
00:19:04.720 I want a piece of taffy and I want a bar of chocolate.
00:19:06.860 And the person says, okay, here you go.
00:19:09.460 I say, what, you're not even going to debate me?
00:19:12.440 No, sir, you asked for those things and now I'm giving them to you.
00:19:16.040 Yeah, but you're not even going to have a committee to debate?
00:19:19.500 Come on, that's a sham.
00:19:21.420 Sir, you asked me very explicitly for something.
00:19:23.880 You told me exactly what you wanted and now I'm offering it to you.
00:19:26.680 Why won't you take it?
00:19:27.500 Because I want a debate and a committee.
00:19:30.500 That's the sham.
00:19:31.080 Obviously, that's the sham.
00:19:32.880 This was Mitch McConnell's brilliance.
00:19:34.520 Because, of course, for so much in the Senate, you know, one side wants something.
00:19:39.620 The other side says, no, I won't give you that.
00:19:42.100 And then they get into a negotiation and they try to come to some compromise.
00:19:45.180 But on this, the Green New Deal is so absurd on its face.
00:19:48.400 It's so impossible.
00:19:49.580 $93 trillion.
00:19:51.120 Destroys every building in the entire country within 10 years and then rebuilds all of them.
00:19:55.180 Eliminates 88% of the American energy industry.
00:19:57.760 Gets rid of planes, trains, and automobiles.
00:19:59.820 Totally upends.
00:20:01.120 Gets rid of most of our political liberty.
00:20:03.100 Institutes socialized medicine.
00:20:04.800 100% institutes a universal basic income.
00:20:07.820 It's all of these crazy things.
00:20:09.720 It's such a joke that the Democrats propose it.
00:20:13.400 They co-sponsor it.
00:20:14.520 They say, we're in 100%.
00:20:16.420 And then Mitch McConnell says, cool.
00:20:20.300 Aren't you going to debate me?
00:20:21.820 Nope.
00:20:22.920 No, let's just vote on it.
00:20:25.120 But we need committees.
00:20:26.180 No, we don't.
00:20:27.340 No, you, okay, you made your case.
00:20:29.380 We will not oppose what you're doing.
00:20:33.340 We won't call for a debate.
00:20:34.820 There you go.
00:20:35.360 You're the dog that caught the car.
00:20:37.380 You're going to vote for it?
00:20:39.160 And then they don't.
00:20:40.040 Because they don't mean it.
00:20:40.880 Because they're hoaxers.
00:20:41.640 So now Maisie Hirono has to answer for the indefensible.
00:20:46.560 And she just tries to change the subject.
00:20:49.440 And make believe that climate change is not happening.
00:20:52.600 And all of the growing number of natural disasters that are taking people's lives and costing our cities, our businesses, our people, billions of dollars.
00:21:03.800 Which, by the way, even as we speak, we are going to be dealing with the disaster relief package because of all of these many, many disasters, natural disasters that are hitting us more frequently and with greater impact.
00:21:19.740 Okay, so your thesis is we're having all of these natural disasters that are happening really, really frequently.
00:21:27.500 We'll examine whether that's true or not in a little bit.
00:21:30.220 And all of these natural disasters are being caused by global warming.
00:21:34.280 We'll examine that in a little bit.
00:21:35.920 But, okay, those are your premises.
00:21:38.200 And therefore, we're not going to vote to stop global warming.
00:21:43.720 That's it.
00:21:45.000 Everything's going horribly because of global warming.
00:21:47.620 Therefore, we're not going to vote to stop global warming.
00:21:49.880 And then she starts talking about a disaster relief package, which is a different piece of legislation.
00:21:54.300 But we're not asking you about that piece of legislation.
00:21:56.700 We're asking you about the central piece of legislation that all of you guys are co-sponsoring that you then didn't vote for.
00:22:03.280 Very difficult to defend that.
00:22:05.940 The other point she's making here, though, is she's saying we're having all of these natural disasters because of climate change.
00:22:13.000 Now, it's so funny because when Amy Klobuchar goes out and announces her presidential campaign and she says,
00:22:19.560 the central pillar of my campaign is going to be global warming and fighting global warming.
00:22:23.640 And she's standing in five feet of snow and she's got snow pouring down all over her head.
00:22:27.840 And then Donald Trump points out, he says, it's kind of funny to be talking about global warming while you're covered up to your head in snow.
00:22:34.360 What does the left say?
00:22:35.400 The left says, but weather isn't climate.
00:22:38.340 You can't point to weather events and say that they're evidence of climate change or not evidence of climate change.
00:22:45.220 OK, all right.
00:22:46.780 OK, I accept that premise.
00:22:49.760 Except you only do that when it's convenient for you.
00:22:53.580 The minute that you can point to some disaster, you say that was caused by global warming.
00:22:59.840 Amy Klobuchar getting covered in snow while she is declaring her president.
00:23:02.860 That's not global warming, but that is global warming.
00:23:05.180 Everything that's convenient for me is global warming and everything that's inconvenient for me is not global warming.
00:23:10.160 Weather is not climate except when it's convenient for Democrats.
00:23:13.260 And then, you know, honestly, MSNBC is being honest for a little bit.
00:23:22.160 I never use the words honestly and MSNBC in the same sentence, but they are being slightly honest here.
00:23:27.020 They are pushing her.
00:23:28.780 They're saying, why?
00:23:30.080 Why wouldn't you vote for it, though?
00:23:32.020 And she stammers and stammers.
00:23:33.740 But it's not an argument that you just made to vote yes for it.
00:23:37.280 I mean, McConnell may be trying to make it a show vote.
00:23:39.460 But if you signed on to this, you're one of the co-authors of it.
00:23:42.700 But if you believe that this is something that even if it's aspirational that needs to get done, why not take a stand and vote yes for it?
00:23:50.560 And here's what the Democrats stand for.
00:23:53.080 We don't care that it's a show vote.
00:23:54.740 It seems like you're trying to have it both ways, not be hung by it politically, but also not say that you don't support it.
00:24:01.160 I disagree with you, Katie, that why should we engage in the kind of sham shenanigans that Mitch McConnell is really good at?
00:24:08.620 He's really good at offering to let everyone vote on the thing that you guys wrote and co-sponsored?
00:24:15.740 That's the—this is like what happens.
00:24:18.280 I mean, good on her.
00:24:19.040 Good on this MSNBC lady for actually trying to be somewhat honest and consistent here.
00:24:24.040 And obviously Maisie Hirono has no answer to that.
00:24:27.080 But this is like when you—I was in Michigan the other day, and I was talking to some of the protesters at Ben's speech.
00:24:34.840 And they were all talking about how we have to all accept transgenderist ideology.
00:24:39.780 And I said, okay, but don't you think that this creates a problem because it ultimately erases the category of women?
00:24:49.560 If men can be women and men can define femininity and men can be the arbiters of what is or what is not womanhood,
00:24:57.480 then don't you diminish, if not outright eliminate, women's agency?
00:25:02.800 And they said, yeah, that's a bad faith question.
00:25:05.580 You're not arguing in good faith.
00:25:07.560 That's a gotcha question.
00:25:09.780 I said, I'm asking a perfectly logical question that follows from your premises.
00:25:17.120 I'm just—what else could I say that you would say is in good faith?
00:25:22.280 Here we have a clearer example of this in the Senate.
00:25:25.820 They all say, we want to vote on this.
00:25:27.840 We want to vote.
00:25:28.300 We want to co-sponsor this.
00:25:29.600 We wrote this.
00:25:30.980 And Mitch McConnell says, okay.
00:25:33.100 And they say, you're—you're—these are dirty tricks.
00:25:35.900 The dirty tricks of letting you do what you say you want to do?
00:25:39.300 That's a dirty trick?
00:25:41.180 Then who's the dirty trickster?
00:25:42.620 You are.
00:25:44.160 She then goes on.
00:25:45.820 You have to hear the end of this.
00:25:47.140 You have to hear as she—and then you've got to hear the best, the piece de la resistance,
00:25:51.500 the best part of yesterday, which is that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had to argue against her own legislation.
00:25:58.600 But first, we've got to say goodbye to Facebook and YouTube.
00:26:02.860 Go over to dailywire.com.
00:26:04.200 Ten bucks a month, $100 for an annual membership.
00:26:06.540 You get me.

00:26:11.080 Get them in.

00:26:13.220 Coming up tomorrow.
00:26:13.920 7 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. Pacific.
00:26:17.900 Our next episode of Daily Wire backstage, Daily Wire God King Jeremy Boring, little old me,
00:26:22.200 Ben Shapiro, Andrew Klavan will be sipping whiskey, smoking stogies, and laughing our
00:26:26.440 way through politics and pop culture.
00:26:28.760 As always, only Daily Wire subscribers get to ask the questions.
00:26:32.380 So make sure to subscribe today because, of course, you get this.
00:26:35.980 And you talk about extreme weather events that keep happening because of global warming.
00:26:39.600 I think the extreme weather events are happening because of the total breakdown of the leftist
00:26:43.560 narrative.
00:26:44.040 And that's why you're seeing waves and waves of salty tsunamis.
00:26:47.680 The only way to survive them is to get your leftist tears tumbler.
00:26:50.860 Go to dailywire.com.
00:26:51.960 We'll be back with a lot more.
00:27:03.180 So she keeps changing the subject.
00:27:07.360 She keeps saying, they say, why didn't you just vote for it, though?
00:27:11.180 Okay, you're saying Mitch McConnell wasn't going to vote for it.
00:27:13.600 It wasn't going to pass.
00:27:14.540 Okay, but why wouldn't you vote for it?
00:27:18.740 Okay, maybe Mitch McConnell isn't doing it because he thinks the Green New Deal is good
00:27:23.320 or serious or going to pass the Senate.
00:27:27.600 But you guys co-sponsored it.
00:27:30.460 You guys wrote it.
00:27:33.320 Isn't it, doesn't it just prove Mitch McConnell's point?
00:27:37.360 If you don't vote for it, why not vote for it?
00:27:42.020 And this, finally, is the best she can muster.
00:27:44.600 So he's going to keep doing this kind of thing that his goal in life is to try and divide
00:27:49.420 the Democrats.
00:27:50.240 He said that.
00:27:51.220 Meantime, he's just shoving as many of the totally ideologically driven judges through
00:27:58.440 court packing that he can.
00:27:59.940 He's already said that, too.
00:28:01.400 What?
00:28:02.720 First of all, he's not court packing.
00:28:04.940 The Democrats are the ones advocating court packing.
00:28:07.540 Multiple presidential candidates for the Democrats are now entertaining the idea of and endorsing
00:28:15.120 the idea of adding justices to the Supreme Court.
00:28:18.380 That's not what Mitch McConnell's doing.
00:28:19.920 Mitch McConnell is just bringing up judges for positions that already exist, as is his job
00:28:25.420 and as is the president's job.
00:28:26.720 What does court packing have to do with this?
00:28:30.420 What are you actually, if Maisie Hirono is saying that Mitch McConnell's agenda in the
00:28:35.980 Senate is so awful, if he's able to, I mean, she's using stupid language that isn't true,
00:28:40.480 which she uses the language of court packing.
00:28:42.320 But even to say he's bringing up all of these judicial nominees for confirmation votes and
00:28:47.860 that's really bad and that's terrible for the country, then shouldn't you hamper his
00:28:52.680 agenda by voting for a legislation that you ostensibly want?
00:28:57.740 If she is right, if she says, I don't want to allow Mitch McConnell to enact his agenda.
00:29:03.020 Oh, good.
00:29:03.340 Then try to enact your agenda.
00:29:04.840 He's giving you the opportunity.
00:29:06.500 It's probably the only time he's going to give you the opportunity.
00:29:09.200 Shouldn't you all vote for it and then tie up the Senate and debates and committee hearings
00:29:14.000 and negotiations, the president, isn't that what you should do?
00:29:17.540 No, because you don't believe in it, because obviously you don't believe in it.
00:29:22.440 He's offering you what you want and you don't really believe in it.
00:29:27.940 He called their bluff and they don't want it.
00:29:30.140 Here is the best that the author of the Green New Deal, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, here's the
00:29:37.440 best that she could muster on the subject of this vote.
00:29:41.080 Science should not be partisan.
00:29:42.860 Listen, we are facing a national crisis.
00:29:48.060 And if we do not ascend to that crisis, if we do not ascend to the levels in which we
00:29:55.260 were threatened at the Great Depression, when we were threatened in World War II, if we do
00:29:59.920 not ascend to those levels, if we tell the American public that we are more willing to
00:30:05.140 invest and bail out big banks than we are willing to invest in our farmers and our urban families,
00:30:11.400 then I don't know what we're here doing.
00:30:14.080 I don't know what we're here doing.
00:30:15.920 Ma'am, do you know what the word ascend means?
00:30:20.200 Yes.
00:30:20.680 Congresswoman, what does the word ascend mean?
00:30:28.920 Some people say it means an old, old wooden ship.
00:30:35.500 No, ma'am, that's a line from Anchorman.
00:30:38.660 That's not what the word ascend.
00:30:40.560 I don't know what the word ascend means.
00:30:42.820 It sounded really good.
00:30:44.040 I don't, beyond her lack of familiarity with the English language, beyond her lack of facility
00:30:53.820 with the English language, she also is making a point that doesn't make a lot of sense, which
00:30:58.820 is that she has told us the world will end in 12 years if we don't pass the Green New
00:31:07.640 Deal.
00:31:08.080 Not just if we don't pass environmentalist legislation.
00:31:10.820 Not just if we don't cap carbon emissions or stop producing certain vehicles or whatever.
00:31:17.460 She says the world will end in 12 years.
00:31:21.020 All of life on earth will be dead if we do not pass her Green New Deal, a radical revolution,
00:31:28.600 all of society, all of our political system, a mobilization, nothing short of what we saw
00:31:34.140 for World War II.
00:31:35.160 Those are her words.
00:31:36.160 And then Cocaine Mitch says, okay, let's vote on it.
00:31:43.360 And what does she do?
00:31:44.100 She encourages all of those senators who co-sponsored her bill to vote present.
00:31:51.880 I've been saying this for weeks.
00:31:54.160 I gave this speech last night at the University of Redlands.
00:31:57.460 The Green New Deal has nothing to do with environmentalism.
00:32:02.640 None of these people really believes that the world will end in 12 years.
00:32:06.340 None of the people co-sponsoring the bill.
00:32:08.240 None of the people writing the bill.
00:32:09.880 None of the people talking about the bill with weird language like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
00:32:14.360 None of them really believes that the world will end in 12 years.
00:32:18.280 Because the Green New Deal is not about the natural environment.
00:32:21.540 The Green New Deal is about socialism.
00:32:25.700 It's about bringing about socialism through the back door.
00:32:29.160 It's about enacting the progressive agenda that the left has wanted for 100 years.
00:32:36.440 Socialist health care, universal income, universal job guarantees,
00:32:41.140 massive redistribution of wealth along racial and sexual lines.
00:32:44.920 A massive grab of political and economic liberty from the people to the bureaucrats,
00:32:51.700 to committees that can pass any other program that they want to, according to the Green New Deal.
00:32:56.860 That's what it's all about.
00:32:58.600 Nothing to do with the environment.
00:33:00.180 And they know that it's a political loser for them to do it now.
00:33:02.800 So they don't think we're going to die in 12 years, or I guess now, what, 11 years and 11 months since she said that.
00:33:10.340 They're just going to wait and try to affect their horrific and poisonous agenda.
00:33:14.920 Another way.
00:33:16.460 But the premise is dead.
00:33:17.640 The premise was a hoax.
00:33:19.520 There is no way to more clearly demonstrate that they don't believe the nonsense that they're spewing
00:33:26.820 than this Green New Deal vote.
00:33:28.840 It was a political masterstroke by Mitch McConnell, and he won, and the greatest week ever continues.
00:33:35.480 Speaking of fakes, frauds, and hoaxers,
00:33:39.180 is there anybody less genuine on planet Earth than Joe Biden?
00:33:43.360 Is there anybody more disingenuous and unctuous than Joe Biden?
00:33:48.840 Joe Biden thinks he's going to run for president.
00:33:51.720 He tried it in 1988, and he was a faker.
00:33:54.640 He was a plagiarist.
00:33:55.500 He had to drop out of that race.
00:33:57.020 Tried it again in 2008.
00:33:58.480 The only reason he got vice president is because Barack Obama hated Hillary Clinton so much.
00:34:03.780 So he managed to worm his way into VP.
00:34:06.700 And now he thinks he's going to run again.
00:34:10.440 Here is how he's decided to launch his campaign.
00:34:13.420 The question is, is he going to run as a centrist, or is he going to run as a far leftist?
00:34:17.820 I think we've got our answer.
00:34:19.600 It's that we see it do something.
00:34:23.080 It's also because 28 years ago, I chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee.
00:34:27.120 In a hearing, the first of its kind, the Clarence Thomas hearing.
00:34:31.480 The appointment of a lifetime appointment at the Supreme Court.
00:34:34.020 And a brave lawyer, a really notable woman, Anita Hill, a professor, showed the courage of a lifetime,
00:34:43.840 talking about her experience being harassed by Clarence Thomas.
00:34:48.040 We knew a lot less about the extent of harassment back then, over 30 years ago.
00:34:53.980 But she paid a terrible price.
00:34:56.600 She was abused through the hearing.
00:34:58.720 She was taken advantage of.
00:35:00.740 Her reputation was attacked.
00:35:02.340 I wish I could have done something.
00:35:04.500 I opposed Clarence Thomas' nomination.
00:35:06.600 I voted against him.
00:35:08.520 But I also realized there was a real and perceived problem the committee faced.
00:35:13.480 There were a bunch of white guys.
00:35:16.180 No, I mean it sincerely.
00:35:17.280 A bunch of white guys.
00:35:19.040 Hearing.
00:35:20.140 Hearing this testimony.
00:35:21.760 On the Senate Judiciary Committee.
00:35:23.600 So when Anita Hill.
00:35:25.000 When Anita Hill came to testify, she faced a committee.
00:35:27.640 That didn't fully understand what the hell it was all about.
00:35:32.360 So I think the one thing that Uncle Joe might have forgotten in his old age is that if the problem is that there was a committee of white guys who couldn't possibly understand what black people and women are going through,
00:35:48.500 And therefore it was unfair for black and black people and women to go before a panel of white guys.
00:35:57.940 Clarence Thomas is a black guy.
00:36:00.120 You dolt.
00:36:01.940 The argument you've just made is that Anita Hill didn't have a fair hearing when she baselessly accused Clarence Thomas of improper behavior because she's a black woman.
00:36:15.180 Clarence Thomas is a black man.
00:36:16.580 So he got an unfair hearing too.
00:36:19.340 Where's that?
00:36:20.200 Where's that about?
00:36:21.120 So Joe Biden.
00:36:22.560 I've never thought Joe Biden is going anywhere.
00:36:25.180 I think it's a joke that he's running in 2016 or 2020 rather.
00:36:29.120 What you hear is, oh, Joe, he's going to be the threat to Trump.
00:36:32.260 Joe.
00:36:32.860 Joe Biden is nothing.
00:36:35.220 Joe Biden is a joke.
00:36:36.520 He's a punchline.
00:36:38.000 That guy is going nowhere.
00:36:41.620 I could always be proven wrong.
00:36:43.320 I'm just looking at the track record.
00:36:45.820 1988 to present.
00:36:47.640 He ain't going anywhere.
00:36:48.520 And so he thinks his best hope is to downplay the moderate, downplay the centrism, downplay good old Uncle Joe from the Rust Belt or whatever he thinks he can affect.
00:37:00.120 And he is going to run to the intersectional left.
00:37:02.580 He thinks that's going to work for an old white guy.
00:37:05.140 And it doesn't just stop there.
00:37:06.740 It doesn't just stop with Anita Hill, which was another huge hoax and miscarriage of justice.
00:37:11.920 And luckily, Clarence Thomas was able to get through.
00:37:14.260 But it was awful what they did to him.
00:37:15.860 It was a high-tech lynching that Joe Biden presided over.
00:37:18.720 And I can't wait.
00:37:20.520 I can't wait until Joe Biden runs for president to bring that up.
00:37:24.000 That he conducted a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deigned to think for themselves.
00:37:29.480 And he made it clear that if you don't kowtow to an old order, you will be mocked, humiliated, and caricatured before a committee of the U.S. Senate rather than hung from a tree.
00:37:39.900 Clarence Thomas's words, not mine.
00:37:41.800 But then he goes more radical.
00:37:43.280 He gets way more extreme.
00:37:44.620 He questions the Anglo-American system of justice itself.
00:37:51.860 This is English jurisprudential culture.
00:37:55.120 A white man's culture.
00:37:58.380 It's got to change.
00:38:01.300 It's got to change.
00:38:03.700 English jurisprudential culture equals a white man's culture.
00:38:10.760 That's his claim.
00:38:12.480 English jurisprudential culture.
00:38:14.380 And he doesn't just mean English.
00:38:15.700 He means Anglo-American because we take our system of justice and jurisprudence from the English.
00:38:22.560 And he's saying our criminal justice system is fundamentally racist and sexist.
00:38:30.760 It is fundamentally bigoted.
00:38:33.780 It is fundamentally illegitimate.
00:38:36.360 And we need to get rid of our entire system of jurisprudence.
00:38:41.820 That's the most radical statement that any potential 2020 presidential candidate has made.
00:38:48.940 That's probably the most radical statement that any presidential candidate has made in my lifetime.
00:38:53.320 Now, the thing about Joe Biden is that he frequently says stupid things and then he contradicts them later on.
00:38:59.020 So probably that's what's happening here.
00:39:02.020 Also, he frequently makes outrageous race hustling claims.
00:39:08.000 He did this in 2012.
00:39:09.260 Do you remember when Mitt Romney was running?
00:39:11.220 And he said, Mitt Romney, he wants to put you all back in chains before an entirely black audience or a mostly black audience.
00:39:16.980 What is English jurisprudential culture?
00:39:21.220 It's equality before the law.
00:39:23.900 It's the presumption of innocence.
00:39:26.220 It's due process.
00:39:28.680 It is the most just jurisprudential culture in the history of the world.
00:39:36.400 It's the only reason that we even have a sense in our legal system of non-discrimination, fairness, equality.
00:39:48.740 That's why.
00:39:49.440 Because of English jurisprudential culture.
00:39:51.620 He says that's got to change.
00:39:54.480 And he's saying that in a calculated way because the left does want that to change.
00:39:58.180 The left hates the presumption of innocence.
00:40:00.440 The left hates that Clarence Thomas, that there wasn't evidence against him and that he got to go to the Supreme Court
00:40:05.960 and they couldn't just lynch him.
00:40:07.640 The left hates that certain groups aren't given special privileges.
00:40:15.320 The left hates that Brett Kavanaugh couldn't just be smeared with constantly changing, contradictory nonsense accusations.
00:40:24.100 They hate that.
00:40:25.620 They want to see special privileges for favored racial and sexual groups.
00:40:29.780 They want Jussie Smollett to get off the hook because he's a well-connected, famous black gay guy.
00:40:35.040 That's what they want.
00:40:37.040 So what does this mean for 2020?
00:40:39.580 This means Joe Biden is not going to run as a moderate.
00:40:45.480 What this also means is that Joe Biden, who has been plotting his presidential run since, I don't know, 1988, certainly, 1987, 1986,
00:40:55.500 and he's been plotting this next run since he was vice president.
00:40:59.520 He felt that he couldn't take on Hillary in 2016, so now he thinks he can take on the field.
00:41:04.460 This means he thinks he can't run as a moderate.
00:41:08.800 He thinks it ain't going to work.
00:41:10.660 And he's probably right.
00:41:12.860 The only reason I think he's probably making the wrong bet here is, let's say there's a 97% chance that the Democrat nominee is some far leftist,
00:41:21.480 which is why virtually all of the candidates are jumping over themselves to prove themselves the most radical leftist.
00:41:29.020 They're all co-sponsoring the Green New Deal, even though they don't vote for it.
00:41:32.920 Let's say they're all trying to jump.
00:41:34.880 We want reparations for slavery.
00:41:36.480 We want $107 trillion worth of new social programs.
00:41:39.320 We want all these things.
00:41:40.200 There are certain polls that show that Democrat voters think they've gone too far,
00:41:46.800 that maybe they want more of a moderate, more of a centrist, not the loudest voices, not even maybe the donors,
00:41:52.840 but the majority of the country, especially in states that they want to win.
00:41:56.940 And Joe Biden is not going to be the most far left candidate.
00:42:00.420 He simply can't be because inherent in this radical leftism is the sort of identity, racial and sexual identity politics that Joe Biden is trying to embrace here.
00:42:14.280 But he can't embrace it because he's an old white guy who's been in Congress and who's been in the Senate since he was what?
00:42:20.500 Since the 70s.
00:42:22.140 This guy's been in the government for most of his life.
00:42:26.800 It ain't going to work.
00:42:28.160 He cannot do it.
00:42:29.380 The only chance he has is to run for that 3% centrist, moderate, can relate to the Rust Belt kind of vote.
00:42:36.980 And he seems not to be doing that because while it might be his best chance, he doesn't think it's the best chance to get the nomination,
00:42:44.280 which means he's probably going nowhere, which means the best week ever continues.
00:42:48.620 We'll get to David Brooks and Cardi B tomorrow.
00:42:53.220 I know, talk about a cliffhanger.

00:43:31.280 You know, Chicago has a reputation as a corrupt Democrat machine town because it's a corrupt Democrat machine town.
00:43:37.220 We saw that yesterday in the Jussie Smollett case.
00:43:39.540 We saw it for eight years during the Obama administration.
00:43:42.820 It's not a question of Al Capone.
00:43:44.400 Where Democrats gather, it's Al Capone.
