The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 385 - The Party of Jussie Smollett

00:00:00.000 As the left embraces another hate hoax, all other distinctions fade away.

00:00:05.160 This is not the party of AOC or the party of Nancy Pelosi.

00:00:08.380 Democrats have become the party of Jesse Smollett.

00:00:11.720 We will examine the live action role play of the left.

00:00:15.160 Then Republicans cheer on AOC's new Republican challenger.

00:00:19.140 But is the fresher, facer conservative in New York's 14th congressional district

00:00:23.440 just a wolf in sheep's clothing?

00:00:26.120 We will examine her current statements and her old tweets.

00:00:28.640 Finally, a new report shows Trump hasn't built any wall.

00:00:32.420 And a woman marries her chandelier.

00:00:35.040 Love wins.

00:00:35.680 All that and more.

00:00:36.380 I'm Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:00:45.640 Have we got a packed show today?

00:00:47.720 Let's jump right in.

00:00:48.980 A Georgia state representative claimed on Sunday

00:00:52.540 that she was verbally assaulted by a man in a grocery store by a white man.

00:00:57.320 And do you know what he told her?

00:00:58.380 Allegedly, he told her to go back to where she came from.

00:01:02.840 That sounds very familiar, doesn't it?

00:01:05.380 Sounds like the chant that briefly some people at a Trump rally were chanting about Ilhan Omar.

00:01:10.160 And more importantly, it sounds like the line that the mainstream media were trying to use

00:01:15.820 against all conservatives everywhere to smear us as bigots and xenophobes and nativists and racists

00:01:22.180 and whatever isst you want to use.

00:01:24.800 When she mentioned this story, this state representative,

00:01:28.540 I did not believe it for even one second.

00:01:32.280 I just want to go on the record.

00:01:33.380 Not for one nanosecond did I believe that a man in a grocery store started yelling at this woman

00:01:39.380 to go back where she came from, a white man probably wearing a MAGA hat.

00:01:43.600 I knew from the first second that this was Jussie Smollett, the Jussie Smollett of the Georgia State Assembly.

00:01:51.100 And guess what?

00:01:51.900 Turns out I was right.

00:01:53.420 The left believed this.

00:01:54.620 The left believed this immediately.

00:01:55.760 They bought it hook, line, and sinker.

00:01:57.300 Why did they believe it and why did I not believe it?

00:01:59.640 It's because of different premises about America.

00:02:02.000 The left believes that America is hopelessly racist and bigoted. 0.94

00:02:06.460 And so therefore, of course, some black state representative would be told to go back to where she came from, 1.00

00:02:12.140 go back to Africa in a grocery store. 0.99

00:02:14.820 I don't believe that America is hopelessly racist and bigoted.

00:02:17.800 I actually think that America is the most racially tolerant country in the history of the world.

00:02:22.820 We are this multiracial experiment, this completely novel idea, this experiment in mixing different ethnicities and cultures together,

00:02:37.380 all underneath a sort of unified American culture and American national identity, though not a racial identity.

00:02:45.100 And so I just never thought this would happen.

00:02:46.700 Turns out I was right.

00:02:48.420 The Democrats believe this stuff.

00:02:49.920 And to their credit, actually, she put on a pretty good performance.

00:02:54.520 Her lawyer, first red flag, her lawyer tweets out this video after the alleged event happened.

00:03:04.880 You know what I decided?

00:03:07.240 I decided to go live because I'm very upset because people are getting really out of control with this.

00:03:18.040 With this white privilege stuff, I'm at the grocery store and I'm in the 10 out, the out that says 10 items or less.

00:03:31.680 Yes, I have 15 items, but I'm not much pregnant and I can't stand up for long. 1.00

00:03:36.880 And this white man comes up to me and says, you lazy son of a bitch. 1.00

00:03:49.760 He says, you lazy son of a bitch. 1.00

00:03:52.840 You need to go back where you came from. 1.00

00:03:55.500 And he says that.

00:03:59.820 I said, sir, you don't even know me.

00:04:01.700 I'm not lazy.

00:04:03.280 I'm not much pregnant. 1.00

00:04:05.240 He says, you're ignorant. 1.00

00:04:08.000 Okay. 0.99

00:04:08.980 So she, look, she put on a good performance.

00:04:10.880 She's crying.

00:04:12.660 She, now she's an elected politician. 1.00

00:04:14.900 Elected politicians are all actors.

00:04:17.180 They're all performers.

00:04:18.180 So you gotta, you gotta remember that as well.

00:04:20.900 But what happened?

00:04:21.800 I don't know what happened in the grocery store.

00:04:23.720 Maybe the guy called her some mean name.

00:04:25.560 Maybe the guy was rude.

00:04:26.540 Maybe he was out of line.

00:04:27.860 Maybe he wasn't.

00:04:28.840 I don't know what happened.

00:04:30.780 But what I am certain of is that he did not tell her to go back to where she came from.

00:04:35.840 To go back to Africa where her ancestors came from or something like that. 0.56

00:04:40.600 It's just too perfect a political line for Democrats right now.

00:04:46.140 Right after they made a whole hullabaloo about this Ilhan Omar thing.

00:04:49.760 I just know that that didn't happen.

00:04:53.420 And it looks like I was right.

00:04:54.880 Because almost immediately, this representative, Erica Thomas, showed her cards.

00:05:00.540 She kind of admitted that the story that she was telling on camera wasn't quite true.

00:05:05.600 We'll get to that in a second.

00:05:06.560 But first, cell phone plans and bills are notoriously confusing.

00:05:10.260 More than confusing.

00:05:11.300 They're just, they're overly expensive.

00:05:14.340 You sign up for one thing and then you get charged so much more.

00:05:17.100 It's impossible to know what you're actually paying for with all these hidden fees and all these little fees that, you know, it adds up over time.

00:05:24.540 And all of a sudden they become huge costs.

00:05:27.120 No more.

00:06:50.540 So this Georgia State Representative, Erica Thomas, admits almost immediately,

00:06:56.040 once she got off her lawyer's cell phone footage that she tweeted out,

00:07:00.320 once she's doing an interview with the media,

00:07:02.300 they say, so he, hold on, you're telling me that this white man in the grocery store said,

00:07:07.900 go back to where you come from?

00:07:10.220 Did that really happen, Representative Thomas?

00:07:12.640 Here's what she says.

00:07:13.700 He said, go back, you know, those types of words.

00:07:16.180 I don't want to say, he said, go back to your country or go back to where he came from,

00:07:20.200 but he was making those types of references is what I remember.

00:07:23.060 Hold on, wait, wait, wait.

00:07:24.520 Those types of words?

00:07:26.140 What do you mean types of words?

00:07:27.720 He either said, go back to where you came from or go back to your country or go back to Africa

00:07:33.120 or go back, or he didn't.

00:07:35.480 What do you mean types of words?

00:07:36.500 What's a word that's a type of word like go?

00:07:39.780 How about toaster?

00:07:41.160 They've got, they both have O, are they the similar types of words?

00:07:44.240 What do you mean types of words?

00:07:45.160 Very vague, right?

00:07:46.280 And then she, he backs off it even further.

00:07:48.380 She goes, I'm not going to say that he said go back.

00:07:52.040 You just said it.

00:07:52.960 You said it in a teary eyed video that your lawyer shot that you tweeted out, obviously

00:07:56.820 for a political game.

00:07:58.140 So she backs off it, right?

00:07:59.600 Because it, it just seems like it was too good to be true.

00:08:02.320 This shows why we should all treat these claims of, of hate experiences and hate speech and

00:08:09.980 hate this and hate that with a grain of salt.

00:08:12.620 Then incredibly CBS 46, the local CBS affiliate in this area gets both of these people, the man

00:08:21.160 who allegedly told her to go back home and this representative, Erica Thomas, gets them 0.94

00:08:26.860 together in a parking lot to hash out what really happened.

00:08:30.260 And what it turns out is the guy actually isn't white at all and he's not a Trump supporter

00:08:35.220 and he's not a Republican.

00:08:36.760 He's actually a Hispanic liberal Democrat and he contradicts her narrative, her first narrative

00:08:44.300 events, I guess not her second narrative of events.

00:08:46.560 He gives what he says is the real story on camera with Erica Thomas.

00:08:51.980 Here's what he says.

00:08:53.660 Every black, brown and any woman that's out there, that's nine months pregnant and a white 1.00

00:08:58.780 man comes up to you and calls you a son of, I don't care what you are. 0.95

00:09:02.740 Yes, you are. 0.70

00:09:03.420 I'm not white. 0.93

00:09:04.040 Anybody comes up to you and calls you a son of an, I am facing the man that degraded me 0.89

00:09:08.420 and berated me and I'm not crying.

00:09:10.120 No, I'm not.

00:09:10.900 I'm standing right in front of you.

00:09:12.400 And if you know how you made me feel yesterday, I'm Hispanic, I don't care what she thinks.

00:09:18.280 She's doing it for political purposes, period. 1.00

00:09:20.980 Like I said earlier, I'm a Democrat.

00:09:23.560 I will vote Democrat the rest of my life.

00:09:26.420 Okay.

00:09:27.020 So to call me what she wants to believe for her political purposes, to make it black, 0.75

00:09:33.240 white, brown or whatever, it's so untrue.

00:09:36.540 So I looked into this a little bit because look, the guy could be lying.

00:09:39.840 Maybe he's lying about being Hispanic. 1.00

00:09:41.380 He certainly could pass as a white guy, but he could also, he looks kind of Hispanic too.

00:09:46.060 I don't, who knows?

00:09:47.660 Maybe he's lying about being a Democrat.

00:09:49.500 Maybe.

00:09:49.800 Turns out, no.

00:09:50.640 If you look at his social media history, he's a Democrat.

00:09:53.780 Just last week, he was defending the squad, AOC, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar and Rashida

00:10:00.520 Tlaib.

00:10:01.040 He was actually defending Omar and Omar is at the center of this, this whole non-traversy because

00:10:06.880 Omar was the, the object of the go back home chance. 1.00

00:10:11.380 Send her back chance. 1.00

00:10:14.080 The narrative explodes here.

00:10:17.220 She is the Jussie Smollett of this week.

00:10:20.280 There's going to be another Jussie Smollett next week. 1.00

00:10:21.940 There's going to be another Jussie Smollett after that because the left is living in a 1.00

00:10:25.700 hoax fantasy land.

00:10:27.220 This guy, whatever he said to her, he might've called her a lot of names, but what he, it

00:10:31.740 seems like he didn't say go back home.

00:10:33.200 He's a liberal Democrat.

00:10:35.040 He's Hispanic.

00:10:36.580 And the best part of it all, Twitter is forever.

00:10:41.360 The internet is forever.

00:10:42.660 Four years ago now, Erica Thomas, this representative tweeted out, quote, going downtown Atlanta for

00:10:49.360 an event.

00:10:49.860 I hope I magically bump into Jussie Smollett, hashtag biggest fan.

00:10:56.780 You don't say representative Thomas.

00:10:59.140 If this were a Hollywood script, if someone just turned this events, these, these events

00:11:03.740 into a Hollywood movie, the studio would reject it.

00:11:06.580 They'd say it's too obvious.

00:11:08.000 It's too on the nose.

00:11:09.020 You can't have her say at the end of it that she's a huge fan of Jussie Smollett, the most

00:11:12.920 famous race hoaxer in the country.

00:11:16.300 But that's actually what happened because we're living in the simulation, because this is the

00:11:20.800 matrix, because it's just too perfect.

00:11:24.700 In the face of a hate hoax like this, all of the other distinctions among Democrats and

00:11:30.000 on the left fade away.

00:11:31.700 This is not the party of AOC or the party of Nancy Pelosi.

00:11:35.580 That's not what unites all of them.

00:11:37.760 What unites all of them are these hate hoaxes.

00:11:42.240 What unites all of them is that they see Nazis everywhere.

00:11:45.720 They see concentration camps everywhere.

00:11:47.920 They see racial bigotry everywhere.

00:11:50.200 They're the party of Jussie Smollett.

00:11:53.140 It's a party of LARPers, live action role play.

00:11:55.860 They're playing out of fantasy on the media.

00:11:58.380 They're playing out of fantasy in the halls of Congress.

00:12:00.320 It isn't true.

00:12:01.580 They want to pretend that they're fighting the great civil rights battles that were already

00:12:05.500 fought and finished 50 years ago or more, 100 years ago or more, 150 years ago.

00:12:12.180 They're playing that because right now, basically in the grand scheme of things, we don't have

00:12:17.320 any problems.

00:12:18.600 We don't have real problems.

00:12:19.860 So we have to invent fake verbal attacks, fake racial hate hoaxes at grocery stores.

00:12:28.120 We have to invent white Trump supporters out of Hispanic liberal Democrats, out of Hispanic 0.98

00:12:34.080 liberal Democrats who defend Ilhan Omar.

00:12:36.720 It's a fantasy.

00:12:37.880 And as long as the Democrats, by the way, are living in a fantasy, the GOP is going to have

00:12:42.340 a strong electoral advantage.

00:12:43.680 This is, I think, a lot of how Trump won in 2016 and why he's looking good for 2020 is

00:12:49.780 because you had the left living in this fantasy world of evil racists. 0.98

00:12:53.820 Half the country are deplorable, irredeemable bigots. 0.94

00:12:56.820 And we looked around and we said, that isn't true. 0.95

00:12:59.760 We're the most racially tolerant country in the history of the world.

00:13:02.460 But it's cut through that BS.

00:13:07.000 If you campaign on fantasy, you're probably not going to win.

00:13:10.040 If you campaign on reality, you have a better chance of winning.

00:13:12.940 This is why AOC in New York's 14th congressional district is facing a new challenger.

00:13:18.280 Although there is something a little wrong, I think, with this challenger campaign.

00:13:22.640 And I want to get into it because I don't want conservatives and Republicans to be taken

00:13:29.000 in by a wolf in sheep's clothing, if that's what she is. 1.00

00:13:31.520 So moving from Georgia to New York's 14th over in Queens and the Bronx,

00:13:37.240 the socialist darling, who's really from Northern Westchester,

00:13:40.660 but she pretends she's Jenny from the block.

00:13:42.440 AOC has a new GOP challenger, Shiri Murray.

00:13:46.680 And everyone on the right is really excited about this because she's a woman,

00:13:51.860 because she's an ethnic minority, because she's an immigrant from Jamaica,

00:13:55.980 because she just checks all these boxes.

00:13:58.740 Like we fall into it too on the right.

00:14:01.520 The left focuses on all identity politics.

00:14:04.440 The left focuses on all of the intersectional boxes. 0.99

00:14:07.760 And we rightly say that that's stupid, that politics isn't about those superficial characteristics. 0.99

00:14:12.240 It's about ideas and it's about the country. 1.00

00:14:14.820 And it's about may the best person win regardless of their skin color or their genitals.

00:14:20.740 But we fall into it too because we think, hmm, AOC's campaigning on all those identity politics.

00:14:26.960 Maybe if we campaign on that, we can win. 0.90

00:14:29.060 I think it's kind of silly.

00:14:30.740 But sometimes, look, I understand why it's effective to us because it shuts down most of AOC's arguments.

00:14:37.240 Sometimes in our excitement, I think we don't do our due diligence here.

00:14:42.380 So this woman, Shiri Murray, has been doing the rounds on Fox News and doing the rounds on social media. 0.73

00:14:49.260 Here is Murray explaining her campaign on Hannity. 0.92

00:14:52.560 Well, it's disgusting.

00:14:53.780 I think the narrative on the national level needs to be dialed back.

00:14:57.520 And that's why I'm in the race.

00:14:58.860 I'd like to represent the constituents in Queens and the Bronx.

00:15:03.500 And we see AOC, from the time she's been elected, she put out policy like the job-killing Green New Deal. 1.00

00:15:11.460 She then went on to kill the Amazon deal in New York, which would have put some 25,000 jobs in Queens. 0.99

00:15:20.600 And so these are some of the reasons, along with kitchen table issues, that I do believe that AOC has neglected in her limelight bid to focus on in the congressional district.

00:15:34.880 So this is a little bit vague, isn't it?

00:15:38.380 She's saying she doesn't like the job-killing Green New Deal and she doesn't like the job-killing Amazon deal.

00:15:44.640 That AOC shut down the Amazon deal and took away about 25,000 jobs from around her district.

00:15:51.180 It's a little vague.

00:15:52.400 The problem with the Green New Deal isn't just that it kills jobs.

00:15:55.540 It's that it costs $93 trillion.

00:15:58.160 It's that it won't really do anything to help the environment.

00:16:00.720 It's that it knocks down all of our buildings.

00:16:02.160 It's that it outlaws cars and airplanes and cows and it takes away our personal choice.

00:16:08.440 And it's that it becomes a transfer program for federal funds to people based on their race or their sex or all these strange characteristics.

00:16:19.200 It's that it's profoundly un-American and that it's socialist.

00:16:22.480 And the problem isn't just the jobs.

00:16:25.100 You'll notice when politicians, when all they talk about is job-killing and they're really vague on cultural questions, usually it means they don't agree with you on culture and they're trying to hide something about their political views.

00:16:38.260 Whereas President Trump talked about jobs a lot, but he always couched it in culture.

00:16:42.840 He said, we're going to love America.

00:16:44.020 We're going to stop criminals from coming into this country. 1.00

00:16:46.140 We're going to kill terrorists. 1.00

00:16:47.460 We're going to stop socialism. 0.97

00:16:49.000 You know, he used pretty specific language, sometimes a little too specific probably when it comes to President Trump.

00:16:55.720 But at least he was telling you where he came from.

00:16:58.300 So it's a bit vague.

00:17:00.100 Hannity asks her to get a bit more specific and she fails to do that.

00:17:05.700 How would you describe yourself politically and how do you feel about President Trump in the two plus years or two and a half years he's been in office?

00:17:14.220 Well, I migrated here from Jamaica and I know firsthand what it is to not just be an immigrant, but to go through the process, right?

00:17:23.880 And so what do I think about what the president is doing?

00:17:27.380 I think that the president is delivering on his promises when he got elected.

00:17:34.020 Huh? Come again?

00:17:36.680 He said, please describe your politics.

00:17:39.700 Please tell us what you think of the president.

00:17:41.240 And she said, I think President Trump is delivering on his promises when he got elected.

00:17:47.400 That's largely true, but it doesn't answer either of the questions that Hannity asked.

00:17:52.040 She never describes herself politically.

00:17:53.800 She never explains what she thinks about Donald Trump delivering on his promises.

00:17:59.500 Okay, this kind of confirmed my suspicions when I saw it.

00:18:02.760 But then we found out some really bad news.

00:18:05.800 Murray celebrated when AOC won her primary election last year.

00:18:11.240 She celebrated when AOC beat Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary, not 10 years ago, not five years ago, one year ago.

00:18:19.140 She tweeted out an article.

00:18:20.640 The article was titled, A 28-year-old Democratic Socialist Just Ousted a Powerful Ten-Term Congressman in New York.

00:18:27.140 And this woman, Sherry Murray, the GOP candidate for Congress, tweeted out, quote,

00:18:34.580 Congratulations, Alexandria.

00:18:36.500 Queens is headed in a new direction, and it's time for new leadership.

00:18:40.160 Hashtag yes.

00:18:43.080 All right, that's not great.

00:18:44.840 I guess there are some possible explanations for this.

00:18:47.440 It could be that she wanted to shake up the Democratic establishment. 0.99

00:18:52.820 Okay, that's fair enough.

00:18:54.280 This would be like a kind of accelerationist idea.

00:18:57.480 You want the most radical people in your opponent's party to come out because it'll show how crazy they are, and then Republicans are more likely to win.

00:19:06.920 Now, I don't know.

00:19:07.480 I mean, she said Queens is headed in a new direction.

00:19:09.340 It was obviously headed to AOC.

00:19:11.180 So it was headed in the direction of socialism.

00:19:13.820 That's probably not great.

00:19:14.700 Hashtag yes.

00:19:15.380 That's not great.

00:19:16.280 The only other explanation is that she didn't know that AOC was a radical socialist, but that one falls apart because the article she tweeted out identified AOC as a socialist.

00:19:27.480 Now, how is Sherry Murray going to answer this?

00:19:30.340 The answer she gives is pretty weak sauce.

00:19:32.920 She gave this classic answer that politicians who either don't believe in anything or who don't want you to know what they believe gives.

00:19:41.320 The answer she gave was a tweet, quote, I was hopeful when AOC won.

00:19:46.300 She took on a Democratic political machine and won, but nothing has changed since.

00:19:51.160 Why?

00:19:51.760 Because she's only been focused on fame and politics of division and hate.

00:19:54.920 We deserve and expected better.

00:19:56.680 That's why I'm running.

00:19:57.540 Join us.

00:19:59.400 You were hopeful when a socialist won the primary?

00:20:02.260 You were hopeful when a radical socialist beat a relatively more moderate Democrat?

00:20:08.240 What about that made you hopeful?

00:20:11.120 What were you hoping for?

00:20:12.880 I mean, this is the classic answer.

00:20:14.720 It's a smart answer in the sense that some people who are centrist politically or more moderate who don't pay attention to politics,

00:20:21.940 you could see them saying, look, I was hopeful when Obama won that he would be good, but then he was bad.

00:20:28.440 I know actually a number of people who are now Trump supporters who said that.

00:20:31.480 I was hopeful when Obama won, but he wasn't good, and so now I'm more conservative.

00:20:36.720 Part of the reason it's plausible with Obama is Obama only spoke in vague terms, hope and change.

00:20:43.440 You know, kind of like the terms that Sherry Murray is talking in.

00:20:46.560 But AOC didn't speak in vague terms.

00:20:48.700 She said, I'm a socialist and I want socialism.

00:20:51.160 That's what she campaigned on.

00:20:52.200 So what were you hopeful for?

00:20:54.280 You were hopeful that she would be socialist, right?

00:20:57.380 And then she wasn't?

00:20:58.820 I mean, what do you mean you were hopeful that something would happen and then nothing has changed?

00:21:02.740 The only thing that AOC would change is that she would make the country more socialist. 0.99

00:21:07.500 Change in itself isn't good.

00:21:09.400 You change in one direction or the other.

00:21:11.060 If she made the country more American, more conservative, made us more economically competitive, 0.96

00:21:16.700 made us love our country more, that would be a good thing.

00:21:21.100 But if she did the things she said she was going to do, which you said you were hoping for,

00:21:27.040 then that would make the country much worse.

00:21:28.880 That change would be terrible.

00:21:31.400 Doesn't make a lot of sense.

00:21:32.560 Last year, she celebrated a socialist winning an election, but now she knows better.

00:21:36.400 Is that what she's saying? 0.90

00:21:37.120 Either she's still a left winger or just 12 months ago, she exhibited egregious judgment and ignorance.

00:21:47.100 Either way, this is a bad sign.

00:21:49.240 Now, I'm interested in this race because AOC and I grew up in exactly the same place.

00:21:54.480 We grew up one town apart from each other at exactly the same time.

00:21:57.100 We're the same age and we've had similar life experiences.

00:22:00.260 So I'm curious about it.

00:22:02.000 I'm also curious about it because AOC and I have spent about the same amount of time in her current congressional district.

00:22:07.120 And I'm interested in it because this is, she is the leader of the Democratic Party, right?

00:22:11.660 I mean, she is the fresh face.

00:22:13.620 DNC Chairman Tom Perez said she's the future of the party.

00:22:16.480 She gets all the media attention. 0.98

00:22:17.940 So this is going to be an important race.

00:22:20.200 And I just don't want conservatives and Republicans to get hoodwinked by a fraud.

00:22:25.220 I'm not saying that Murray is definitely a fraud.

00:22:27.240 I'm saying there are a lot of questions about her.

00:22:28.920 So if Ms. Murray wants to come on the show and talk about it, I'd be happy to have her on.

00:22:34.420 But she's got a lot of answers to give.

00:22:37.800 She's got a lot of explaining to do. 1.00

00:22:39.180 There are other Republicans in this race.

00:22:41.600 And I just don't want conservatives to fall into that trap of saying,

00:22:45.640 oh, look, she checks all of the intersectional boxes.

00:22:48.300 She'll be really good to run against AOC. 0.99

00:22:50.280 When in fact, she may be quite left-wing herself, much more left-wing than other people in the race.

00:22:56.200 We'll just have to follow it.

00:22:57.480 And if Ms. Murray wants to come on the show, she's more than welcome.

00:23:00.960 In even crazier news than AOC, I know it's hard to imagine anything crazier than AOC,

00:23:05.680 but in the realm of news that is crazier than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,

00:23:12.800 a woman is marrying her 91-year-old chandelier.

00:23:17.120 That's that.

00:23:17.840 I almost could end the show right there.

00:23:19.380 But no, let's look into it.

00:23:20.400 It's a bit of a May-December relationship, obviously.

00:23:22.940 The chandelier is much older than the 35-year-old woman. 0.59

00:23:25.960 But love is love.

00:23:28.600 You know, hashtag.

00:23:30.040 And love wins.

00:23:32.120 Hashtag, hashtag.

00:23:33.460 And this woman obviously has a right to marry her love. 0.76

00:23:39.220 Right?

00:23:40.400 Here she is explaining her nuptials.

00:23:43.000 Just like anybody who falls in love with somebody else,

00:23:47.020 they want to be close to them.

00:23:48.600 And so I enjoy being close to my chandeliers.

00:23:53.120 I've admired them for years.

00:23:55.920 I've loved the way that they've looked.

00:23:58.520 I've loved the way that the light catches on the little crystals.

00:24:02.860 And I've just loved them in general.

00:24:05.400 I think they're beautiful things.

00:24:06.920 I think it's good in the world to have a bit of variety

00:24:09.920 and have different types of people.

00:24:12.320 If we're all the same, the world would be a really boring place.

00:24:16.820 All right.

00:24:17.840 That's Amanda Liberty. 1.00

00:24:19.920 Her name is Amanda Liberty.

00:24:21.360 It used to be Amanda Whitaker. 1.00

00:24:23.520 But she changed her name to Amanda Liberty a number of years ago

00:24:27.940 when she entered into a different romantic relationship.

00:24:31.740 She entered into a long-distance relationship with...

00:24:34.640 I'll give you five seconds to guess.

00:24:37.500 Her name is Amanda Liberty.

00:24:39.360 Who was she in a long-distance relationship with?

00:24:41.220 She was in a long-distance relationship with the Statue of Liberty.

00:24:46.140 Here she is then.

00:24:47.220 When I met Lady Liberty, the flags already knew 0.80

00:24:51.420 and had a friendship with Lady Liberty.

00:24:53.480 They were already friends.

00:24:55.140 So it didn't feel like I was cheating on anybody.

00:24:58.640 The first part of Libby that I fell in love with was her crown 0.80

00:25:02.220 and her torch as well.

00:25:04.260 But it was a crown that initially got me attracted to her.

00:25:10.100 I just want to be able to tell people that I love her

00:25:13.360 because I am proud of loving her.

00:25:16.000 I am really proud to have her.

00:25:18.180 I'm really proud that she's part of my life.

00:25:21.060 She's proud.

00:25:22.820 Didn't we just celebrate Pride?

00:25:24.780 Pride Month?

00:25:25.520 Didn't we just celebrate all the different sorts of sexual identity

00:25:29.700 and gender identity and sexual attraction?

00:25:32.180 This woman actually does have a sexual orientation that is recognized, 1.00

00:25:37.040 which is the sexual orientation toward inanimate objects. 0.99

00:25:42.760 Obviously, she seems a little crazy. 1.00

00:25:44.600 Maybe that's hate speech if I say that she seems a little crazy. 1.00

00:25:47.200 Maybe I'll get kicked off of YouTube if I say she seems a little crazy. 1.00

00:25:49.820 We will examine the similarities and differences

00:25:55.680 between Chris Whitaker Liberty or Amanda Liberty's attraction

00:26:01.100 to famous statues and 91-year-old chandeliers

00:26:05.360 and the rest of our sexual morality.

00:26:07.520 We'll explain why this is the logical or illogical, I guess,

00:26:10.820 conclusion of so much of the left's view on sex.

00:26:13.740 Then we will explain the greatest irony of the 2020 race, 0.96

00:26:18.080 and it has to do with Bernie Sanders' campaign.

00:26:20.680 And then finally, a masterstroke from President Trump on Twitter,

00:26:24.340 which the mainstream media obviously are ignoring.

00:26:27.220 A lot of the conservative media are ignoring it.

00:26:29.520 I think to the conservative movement's peril,

00:26:32.520 we'll explain why President Trump is so interested

00:26:35.400 in an ASAP Rocky dollar sign rapper.

00:26:38.960 We'll get to that in a second.

00:26:39.820 But first, you've got to go to dailywire.com.

00:26:41.980 $10 per month.

00:26:43.560 $100 for an annual membership.

00:26:45.520 What do you get?

00:26:46.320 What don't you get?

00:26:48.020 You get me.

00:26:49.160 You get the Andrew Klavan show.

00:26:50.200 You get the Ben Shapiro show.

00:26:51.120 You get the Matt Wall show.

00:26:52.000 You get to ask questions in the mailbag coming up on Thursday.

00:26:54.880 You get to ask questions backstage.

00:26:57.220 You get another kingdom.

00:26:59.080 You get all of it.

00:26:59.620 And you get the Leftist Tears Tumblr.

00:27:01.820 This is really...

00:27:02.600 That's really good.

00:27:06.480 It tastes like exposing their hate hoaxes. 0.99

00:27:11.060 It tastes like the feeling of exposing their ridiculous, divisive narratives. 0.97

00:27:17.620 Like, for instance, if I were walking in South Central Chicago 0.95

00:27:22.180 in the middle of the night, you know,

00:27:24.000 and I were walking there and I had some people in MAGA hats come up to me

00:27:27.700 and tell me this is MAGA country and beat me up, 0.73

00:27:29.580 I would not drop my Leftist Tears Tumblr.

00:27:31.880 I couldn't because when those hoaxes are exposed,

00:27:34.320 I got to catch those tears or I will drown.

00:27:36.620 Go to dailywire.com.

00:27:37.820 We've got a lot more.

00:27:39.120 We'll be right back.

00:27:39.580 This woman, Amanda Liberty,

00:27:53.760 I wonder if she'll change her name to The Chandelier.

00:27:56.480 The Chandelier's name is Lumiere, like in the movie Beauty and the Beast.

00:28:00.040 So maybe she'll become Amanda Lumiere after this. 0.91

00:28:04.540 She says that she's really proud of her attraction to inanimate objects,

00:28:09.740 to Lady Liberty and to The Chandelier.

00:28:11.500 She has an open relationship with The Chandelier.

00:28:13.440 She sleeps with different chandeliers in her bed every night.

00:28:15.620 That's not a joke.

00:28:16.340 She actually does that. 0.98

00:28:19.200 I don't mean to make fun of a crazy woman. 0.99

00:28:21.940 She's obviously very mentally unbalanced. 0.96

00:28:24.980 It's probably not good for these journalists in the UK to go into her house and film her 1.00

00:28:28.820 because she's a crazy person. 1.00

00:28:29.960 However, it's instructive for our culture because this is a devastating report for the love is love 0.98

00:28:37.540 sexuality, for the love is love view of sexual morality.

00:28:41.940 Hashtag love wins.

00:28:42.940 This woman describes her marriage to a chandelier in precisely the same way in which the left

00:28:52.360 describes the evolving definitions of sex and gender, right down to the emphasis on the word

00:28:58.320 pride.

00:28:59.480 I'm so proud of it.

00:29:01.140 She says, quote,

00:29:02.920 I'm determined to have this commitment ceremony to prove that I'm here for Lumiere and that my love

00:29:09.140 is going to last.

00:29:09.980 I know a lot of people think my attraction to chandeliers is strange, but I'm not crazy. 0.86

00:29:15.740 Obviously, she's crazy, but she's no crazier than a man who says he's a woman. 0.99

00:29:22.320 She's no crazier than a man who feels in some metaphysical way that he wants to be a woman. 0.99

00:29:29.740 And I'm not even using crazy as a pejorative term. 0.92

00:29:32.200 I'm saying he's got something wrong in his psychology and he should be treated for it

00:29:35.120 and we should treat this woman for it and we should be compassionate toward her,

00:29:38.160 but we shouldn't indulge her fantasy that she's married to a 91 chandelier any more than we

00:29:42.380 should indulge the fantasy that a man, a grown man, is secretly a six-year-old girl

00:29:47.140 and therefore should go into the little girl's changing room or the girl's bathroom because 0.96

00:29:51.740 that isn't true.

00:29:52.660 As far as I can tell, there are three main premises of the new concept of sexual morality.

00:29:59.920 We've discarded traditional sexual morality, theology of the body, traditional sexual mores.

00:30:06.680 We threw that away in the 1960s.

00:30:08.280 That's gone for most of the pop culture.

00:30:11.100 So what is the new sexual morality?

00:30:12.900 I think it's got three premises.

00:30:14.320 One, other than pedophilia and bestiality, all sexual desires are good.

00:30:21.500 This is the love is love idea.

00:30:23.700 For some reason, pedophilia and bestiality are excluded,

00:30:26.040 but everything else, love is love.

00:30:28.100 Every other sexual desire is not only not bad, not only neutral, it's actually positively good.

00:30:36.680 Why is that?

00:30:38.200 Well, it's because of the second premise.

00:30:40.040 No sexual desire other than pedophilia and bestiality should ever be repressed.

00:30:45.120 You should never, if you have some sexual desire, whether it's to sleep with another person

00:30:49.340 who isn't your wife or whether it's to, I don't know, do whatever you want to do, 0.78

00:30:53.760 it should never be repressed.

00:30:56.040 This is the love wins idea of sexual morality.

00:30:59.600 And then the third premise is, if it doesn't hurt anyone else and it feels good, do it.

00:31:06.860 And actually, you've got to even sort of modify that third premise because you can hurt each other.

00:31:13.560 I mean, people embrace Fifty Shades of Grey, BDSM, sadomasochism.

00:31:18.160 So really what you would say is, if it doesn't hurt anyone else without his or her consent and it feels good, do it.

00:31:27.380 And there are still these, the left still looks down on pedophilia and bestiality.

00:31:34.140 Although you're seeing in kind of these far left academic conferences, a movement afoot to normalize pedophilia as well.

00:31:41.300 And obviously you've got pedophilia in the news because of the Jeffrey Epstein underage sex trafficking scandal

00:31:46.660 that is apparently ensnared Bill Clinton who flew on Jeffrey Epstein's jet 27 times,

00:31:52.220 even though the jet was nicknamed the Lolita Express.

00:31:55.860 Those are the three premises though, okay?

00:31:57.800 This woman is embracing all of those premises.

00:32:02.400 She says, quote,

00:32:03.180 People often can't understand that this is just a natural orientation for me.

00:32:08.300 Look at those words, natural orientation.

00:32:10.220 I was born this way.

00:32:11.340 It's my orientation.

00:32:12.400 It's not my desire.

00:32:13.180 It's not my preference.

00:32:14.180 It's my orientation.

00:32:15.700 I'm fundamentally oriented to want to sleep with a 91-year-old chandelier.

00:32:21.020 Well, if you're fundamentally oriented that way, you can't change it.

00:32:24.380 She goes on,

00:32:25.180 Okay, she's finding this beauty.

00:32:31.220 How dare you frown on beauty?

00:32:33.520 She senses their energy.

00:32:34.880 Maybe you can't sense their energy, but she can. 0.97

00:32:37.220 Don't erase her lived experience.

00:32:39.020 Don't deny her truth.

00:32:40.940 She goes on,

00:32:41.820 I'm not hurting anyone by entering into a relationship with them.

00:32:45.160 I am simply just following my heart.

00:32:47.340 Here it is.

00:32:47.600 I'm not hurting anyone.

00:32:48.520 If she's not hurting anyone, what's it to you?

00:32:50.960 Who are you to say that this is harmful?

00:32:55.460 Look, there are plenty of normal relationships that are really harmful.

00:32:59.020 They're probably a lot worse than her relationship to the chandelier.

00:33:01.620 Why not just let her alone?

00:33:03.500 She's not hurting anyone else.

00:33:04.740 She might be hurting herself.

00:33:06.460 She might be living in a fantasy and deluding herself, but she's not hurting anyone else.

00:33:10.640 So who cares?

00:33:12.160 Using the current sexual morality.

00:33:14.040 Can you explain why that's wrong?

00:33:17.440 What she said?

00:33:19.300 I'm not saying using traditional views of sexual morality.

00:33:21.960 I'm saying using the current popular view.

00:33:25.280 You can't say she's wrong.

00:33:27.840 So that leaves two options.

00:33:31.740 Either you can conclude that what she's doing, marrying a chandelier, is not wrong.

00:33:36.580 Or you can conclude that the current sexual morality is somehow lacking.

00:33:41.580 The current sexual morality is insufficient to describe reality.

00:33:44.360 I have a feeling that as a culture, what we're going to do is just say, you know, there's

00:33:49.020 nothing really wrong with marrying a chandelier because that's easier and you don't have to

00:33:52.480 tell someone that their desires ought to be repressed or that their desires are wrong.

00:33:56.360 In order to speak about this in a serious way, in a way that has something to do with the truth,

00:34:02.520 in the way that we all know on a base level that you shouldn't marry a 91-year-old chandelier,

00:34:06.360 that actually there's no such thing as marrying a 91-year-old chandelier.

00:34:09.620 In order to speak about this, you need to be able to speak about ordered and disordered desires.

00:34:15.340 Not every one of my desires is good.

00:34:17.940 Some of them are bad.

00:34:18.920 Many of them are bad.

00:34:20.140 That means that we need to be able to speak about purpose.

00:34:22.880 What your love is made for.

00:34:24.600 What your love is ordered toward.

00:34:26.360 Your love is not made for 91-year-old chandeliers.

00:34:30.180 Your sexual desires are not made for the Lady Liberty statue.

00:34:34.260 That means that we need to be able to speak about objective truth.

00:34:37.460 You can't marry a chandelier.

00:34:38.840 Whatever the definition of marriage is, it's never involved chandeliers.

00:34:45.640 All we have left in our culture is sentimentality.

00:34:49.420 We have Hallmark card culture.

00:34:51.940 I love this.

00:34:53.520 I sense the beauty of this.

00:34:55.080 I sense the energy of this.

00:34:56.940 I'm not hurting anyone.

00:34:58.020 Love is love.

00:34:58.740 Love wins.

00:35:00.180 If we can't come up with an answer,

00:35:04.000 if we can't be mature and discuss serious things,

00:35:10.840 love, joy, purpose, telos, the good, religion, culture,

00:35:16.460 if we can't talk about those things like adults,

00:35:19.280 then we're all going to start marrying chandeliers.

00:35:22.400 We'll at least be in a culture where people are marrying chandeliers. 1.00

00:35:25.460 You know, what this woman is saying is the sort of thing that a three-year-old would say.

00:35:28.700 Say, I love my teddy bear.

00:35:29.720 I want to marry my teddy bear.

00:35:31.400 Say, oh, that's cute.

00:35:32.120 It's cute when a two-year-old or three-year-old says that.

00:35:34.600 It's not so cute when a 35-year-old says that.

00:35:37.180 But our culture, because we are largely uneducated and largely uncultured,

00:35:43.920 and this is not a knock on anybody.

00:35:45.660 This is true throughout society.

00:35:47.720 In many ways, the so-called elites are the least educated people among us.

00:35:51.160 We're all behaving like overgrown children.

00:35:54.380 We're living in a very childish culture,

00:35:56.320 and you're going to see a lot more chandelier weddings.

00:35:59.920 On the realm of actual hard real politics of people trying to behave like adults,

00:36:05.760 but maybe it doesn't quite happen,

00:36:07.540 let's turn to a serious, hardcore, urgent, immediate political problem,

00:36:12.960 the problem on our southern border.

00:36:14.800 It turns out, according to a report now from U.S. Customs and Border Protection,

00:36:18.220 question, President Trump has not built a single mile of new fencing since he's been in office.

00:36:27.320 That's according, maybe there's another report that will contradict that,

00:36:29.980 but according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection,

00:36:32.520 all the fencing that has been built since Trump was elected

00:36:35.740 has been built in place of dilapidated designs.

00:36:39.160 51 miles have been built with the money set aside in 2017 and 2018.

00:36:45.280 This has only replaced outdated walls.

00:36:47.520 Since Trump took office, they've built 1.7 miles on average per month,

00:36:51.920 none in areas that previously lacked fencing.

00:36:55.400 205 miles of new and replacement wall has been funded since Trump took office.

00:37:00.700 Now, in their defense, why have they only focused on replacing walls rather than building new walls?

00:37:05.520 It's because it's way easier to replace the walls.

00:37:08.260 Not just the Democrats in Congress obstructing it,

00:37:10.780 but the environmental laws, the regulations from the EPA,

00:37:13.620 the regulations from the bureaucracy, what we call the deep state.

00:37:17.140 It's much easier to get the environmental and zoning permits in the areas that already have walls

00:37:21.680 than to get them elsewhere, even five feet of new fencing.

00:37:26.820 This shows the immense difficulty of building the wall.

00:37:30.680 Nevertheless, President Trump needs to come up with a plan here,

00:37:34.260 and he needs to build that wall.

00:37:36.140 He has to do it.

00:37:36.940 He keeps insisting that he's built a lot of the wall.

00:37:39.320 Here's President Trump back in February.

00:37:48.920 Now, you really mean finish that wall because we've built a lot of them.

00:37:56.180 It's a good line.

00:37:59.660 I wish it were true, but it isn't true.

00:38:01.820 He's rebuilt portions of the wall, but he has not built new wall.

00:38:06.520 And eventually, people are going to notice that there's no new wall.

00:38:09.780 Maybe now.

00:38:10.340 Maybe it's happening right now.

00:38:12.080 Trump has been very good at fulfilling campaign promises,

00:38:14.660 but this was a key promise of his campaign, and he hasn't done it.

00:38:18.160 And it's going to be a glaring weakness in 2020 unless he comes up with an answer to it,

00:38:22.940 unless he starts breaking ground on new wall, unless he can reframe this issue.

00:38:27.100 It's really depressing news, but it's why you don't want to over-promise and under-deliver.

00:38:35.940 It's fine to make big promises.

00:38:37.900 You've got to fulfill them.

00:38:39.600 This is not one of those issues where Trump is going to be able to get away with it,

00:38:43.380 where he's going to be able to say, well, we really meant rebuilding old walls.

00:38:46.800 No, you have to build new wall.

00:38:49.200 I know it's hard.

00:38:50.500 The White House has my sympathy.

00:38:53.860 Yeah, it's hard to be the president.

00:38:55.240 It's hard, and when you make those promises, you've got to fulfill them.

00:38:59.180 People are going to be chanting, build the wall, finish the wall.

00:39:02.420 If there's no wall, we're all going to look like we have egg on our face.

00:39:06.520 Bad position to be in.

00:39:08.180 The White House needs to put some focus on this.

00:39:11.640 Now, this is not to recommend any of the left-wing presidential campaigns

00:39:16.080 or the Democrat presidential campaigns.

00:39:17.860 They are almost all falling apart, and the best story, the best one of all,

00:39:22.060 is in the Bernie Sanders campaign.

00:39:23.400 There is a new report out that shows that Bernie Sanders, the socialist,

00:39:28.520 he wants $15 minimum wage for everyone, pay everybody as much money as we can.

00:39:33.020 He is not paying his own campaign staffers very much.

00:39:37.040 He's paying them less than he wants the minimum wage to be. 1.00

00:39:39.940 What a hypocrite. 0.99

00:39:42.040 Now, look, when I saw the report that he's not paying his staffers much, 1.00

00:39:45.460 that's not a big deal.

00:39:46.760 First of all, campaign work is often very basic work.

00:39:50.020 It's not worth $15 an hour if you're just passing out pamphlets

00:39:54.140 or putting up yard signs or something.

00:39:56.420 It's very basic work that virtually anyone can do if they're motivated to do it.

00:40:00.800 A lot of people on campaigns volunteer because they actually care about it, right?

00:40:04.080 Campaigns are not motivated by making a profit, or they shouldn't be at least.

00:40:08.940 They're supposed to be nonprofit organizations.

00:40:11.240 They're supposed to be motivated by activism rather than money.

00:40:14.880 Campaigns don't have much money to begin with.

00:40:16.520 They want to use it carefully.

00:40:17.440 They want to use it mostly on media buys.

00:40:19.420 My first campaign that I ever worked on, I made, on average, 75 cents per hour.

00:40:24.260 And that was about right.

00:40:25.200 That's what they should have paid.

00:40:26.840 Because campaigns have to run lean.

00:40:28.440 The trouble is the hypocrisy.

00:40:30.060 The trouble is Bernie is running on a $15 minimum wage,

00:40:33.020 and he won't extend that courtesy to his own employees.

00:40:35.600 So last Thursday night, his staff leaks this story to the press,

00:40:38.980 that they've unionized and they're fighting for the $15 minimum wage,

00:40:42.140 and Bernie, the fake union champion, is fighting them on it.

00:40:45.600 He's trying to crush their union.

00:40:47.920 So after this leaks to the press, it gets even better because the Bernie campaign responds and says,

00:40:55.080 it is disrespectful to the bargaining unit that put so much work into this process

00:40:59.360 that someone would take their concerns and go to the press.

00:41:01.860 Whatever happened to democracy dies in darkness?

00:41:04.680 Whatever happened to transparency?

00:41:06.380 Get it all out there.

00:41:07.420 Very different when it affects a left-wing campaign.

00:41:10.140 Now, that's not even the best part of the story,

00:41:12.700 that Bernie doesn't practice what he preached, 1.00

00:41:14.960 that like all socialists, that he's a total hypocrite. 1.00

00:41:17.140 The best part of the story is, 0.99

00:41:18.800 now that this has come to the press's attention and the public's attention,

00:41:22.660 Bernie has to give them $15

00:41:24.400 if he's not going to look like a total fraud.

00:41:28.960 But there's only so much money.

00:41:31.060 So how is he going to do this?

00:41:32.700 He's promised he'll pay his workers $15 an hour and cut their hours.

00:41:37.080 He's doing, he's showing you what happens under socialism.

00:41:42.480 He's showing you what happens when you raise the minimum wage.

00:41:45.120 There's only one true minimum wage.

00:41:46.720 It's $0 an hour.

00:41:48.120 You're not entitled to a job at a company or on a campaign.

00:41:52.540 He's saying, okay, we'll give you $15 an hour,

00:41:54.740 but that's not magically going to make more money appear.

00:41:57.960 So we're just going to have to cut your hours.

00:42:00.620 Big win for labor, right?

00:42:01.800 No, it's actually a big loss for labor because they're losing.

00:42:04.240 He's not paying them any more money.

00:42:05.600 He's just taking away their opportunities to work.

00:42:08.680 And by the way, the purpose of working on a campaign is not to make money.

00:42:11.680 There are a lot easier ways to make money.

00:42:13.080 It's to get experience.

00:42:13.980 It's to network.

00:42:15.220 It's to push forward your ideas.

00:42:18.920 He says, quote,

00:42:19.900 I'm very proud to be the first presidential candidate to recognize a union

00:42:22.820 and negotiate a union contract.

00:42:25.000 Well, it turns out Bernie's learning about socialism for the first time, right?

00:42:28.760 He talks about socialism his whole life.

00:42:30.720 The reason he's never learned about socialism is because he has always failed to implement his ideas.

00:42:36.800 He's been in the government for about 50 years.

00:42:39.500 He's never implemented any of his ideas, right?

00:42:42.120 He's transformed ideologically the Democratic Party.

00:42:45.520 It's now ideologically his party.

00:42:47.700 But he's never actually affected any of his ideas.

00:42:49.920 So he's never dealt with the consequences of them.

00:42:52.340 Now he's learning in real time that his ideas don't work.

00:42:57.040 Money doesn't just come from the sky.

00:42:59.180 That you can't just raise the minimum wage without any consequence.

00:43:04.840 And that actually raising the so-called minimum wage often, if not always, hurts the people that it's intended to help.

00:43:13.260 Before we go, I have to talk about this ASAP Rocky tweet.

00:43:15.880 President Trump sent out a tweet over the weekend that is his most popular tweet of all time.

00:43:23.740 I sometimes wonder if dead loved ones came back to life and I had to explain to them all the craziness that's happened since they've been gone.

00:43:30.380 What I would tell them first.

00:43:32.480 I would read them this tweet.

00:43:33.860 That's how I would explain all of it.

00:43:35.080 This is from President Trump.

00:43:36.880 Quote,

00:43:37.000 Just spoke to Kanye West about his friend ASAP Rocky's incarceration.

00:43:42.120 I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping ASAP Rocky.

00:43:47.420 So many people would like to see this quickly resolved.

00:43:49.880 It's a stunning tweet.

00:43:51.700 I mean, so many people.

00:43:52.660 I don't even know who ASAP Rocky is.

00:43:54.820 I barely know who Kanye West is.

00:43:57.160 This is Trump's most popular tweet of all time.

00:43:59.560 209,000 retweets, 729,000 likes.

00:44:02.600 I mean, in a very technical way, this is by far the most popular tweet he's ever sent.

00:44:08.200 And it shows you Trump's superpower, which is the culture.

00:44:12.160 So ASAP Rocky got, or he was arrested in Sweden because his team got into a fight with some guys who looked like they had been harassing ASAP Rocky.

00:44:20.260 And Trump gets involved in this.

00:44:22.080 He is the most pop culture aware president since Reagan, and even more than Reagan.

00:44:26.400 Because when Reagan was in the White House, he was palling around with Sinatra and Jimmy Stewart.

00:44:30.840 He was palling around with stores of an earlier era.

00:44:33.620 Trump is palling around with Kanye West and calling about ASAP Rocky.

00:44:37.940 He is so in the culture.

00:44:40.880 And it shows you, look, I don't know ASAP Rocky.

00:44:44.280 I don't listen to his music.

00:44:45.320 I don't know anything he's ever sang.

00:44:47.220 I barely listen to any Kanye West.

00:44:49.900 This is true of most people who spend their life in politics.

00:44:53.560 Because you're just focused on politics all the time, and you're not, especially conservatives, you're not listening to hip-hop a lot or rap.

00:45:00.840 But we have to be aware of something.

00:45:03.580 We have to be aware of our blindness.

00:45:05.460 Most people don't care about Kamala Harris' health care plan. 1.00

00:45:09.100 Most people have no idea what it is and have never thought about it for two seconds.

00:45:13.040 But most people in the pop culture know who ASAP Rocky is.

00:45:16.220 Most people care a lot more that a guy named ASAP Rocky is in a Swedish prison than that Kamala Harris might abolish private health insurance.

00:45:23.500 Justin Bieber is now talking about Tyga.

00:45:27.320 All these different guys in pop culture are boycotting Sweden to help their friend ASAP Rocky.

00:45:32.100 And this goes down through the culture.

00:45:33.760 Trump is the proof of the Breitbart, Andrew Breitbart slogan.

00:45:37.720 Politics is downstream of culture.

00:45:39.580 He is the culture.

00:45:41.360 And for those conservatives especially who say, oh, Trump, stop tweeting about ASAP Rocky and Kanye.

00:45:48.800 Forget about Kanye.

00:45:49.840 Who cares?

00:45:50.640 You are missing politics.

00:45:52.900 Politics is the art of inclusion.

00:45:55.120 Politics is the art of popularity.

00:45:57.580 And this tweet about ASAP Rocky and Kanye West is the most popular thing the president has ever tweeted.

00:46:03.240 He gets it.

00:46:04.620 Maybe this guy.

00:46:05.720 I know it's so hard for those of us to believe.

00:46:08.500 Those of us who talk about politics all the time.

00:46:11.860 This guy, maybe he knows what he's doing.

00:46:14.760 Maybe President Trump knows how to bring people together.

00:46:17.140 Maybe he knows how to talk to a whole group of Americans.

00:46:20.920 Maybe the majority of Americans.

00:46:23.520 In a way that is obviously political.

00:46:26.920 But in a way that isn't just harping on the same old dry, wonky, think tank luncheon kind of topics.

00:46:35.560 That have led other conservatives to fail at elections.

00:46:39.980 You know, people knock Trump for watching Fox News too much.

00:46:42.700 Not going to enough luncheons at think tanks.

00:46:44.940 They knock him for getting all his news from Fox and Friends or wherever.

00:46:49.180 Between a luncheon at a think tank and Fox and Friends, between reading the latest dissertation in some intellectual political journal and listening to ASAP Rocky and talking to Kanye West, guess which gives you the better pulse on politics?

00:47:08.080 We talked about the difference between fantasy world and reality.

00:47:12.660 This affects conservatives in politics too because I think we have this fantasy world of politics where everything that matters is about intellectual dissertations in political journals, journals of political philosophy. 0.81

00:47:25.380 The Democrat fantasy world is that it's this awful racial, bigoted, maniac place, you know, Nazis everywhere.

00:47:31.200 The reality of it is a lot closer to we love our country, we like our flag, and a lot of Americans like ASAP Rocky.

00:47:39.220 President Trump is tapping into that.

00:47:41.100 It's a little weird for those of us who don't care about the pop culture that much, who don't care about hip hop.

00:47:47.260 But maybe the guy is on to something.

00:47:50.800 Maybe Andrew Breitbart was on to something too.

00:47:53.260 That's our show.

00:47:54.680 Tune in tomorrow.

00:47:55.300 We got a lot more to get to.

00:47:56.140 We'll have to do it tomorrow.

00:47:56.880 In the meantime, I'm Michael Knowles.

00:47:58.320 This is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:47:59.200 I'll see you then.

00:48:29.200 Hey, guys, over on The Matt Wall Show, a Democratic lawmaker claims that she was the victim of a racist verbal assault at the grocery store.
