00:00:37.920 Two weirdos had a viral meltdown in Central Park, and now one of their lives is ruined.

00:00:44.480 Then, for the first time ever, Twitter fact-checks President Trump on voter fraud,

00:00:49.260 and for the seven zillionth time, what Trump said turns out to be true, and the fact-check turns out to be a lie.

00:00:56.220 The mainstream media get caught in more coronavirus hypocrisy, and in Washington state,

00:01:01.940 gunshot victims get added to the COVID death toll.

00:01:06.120 All that and more.

00:01:06.920 I'm Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:01:15.920 You saw the video.

00:01:17.600 There was no way to miss the video going around the internet yesterday.

00:01:20.980 If you did miss it, we will play it for you.

00:01:23.120 It was this interaction in Central Park between the woman who was walking her dog and the guy who starts filming her,

00:01:30.760 and then the woman has a meltdown, but the guy also kind of has a meltdown.

00:01:34.340 Both of these people are being called Karens.

00:01:36.440 You know the term Karen?

00:01:37.700 Initially, it meant a middle-aged white woman who's very nosy and tells you your business and gets involved in your affairs. 1.00

00:01:43.680 Now it transcends race and sex.

00:01:45.860 It refers basically to everybody which of the Karens was in the right, which of them was in the wrong. 0.99

00:01:53.840 We will get to that in one second because I think most people are getting this completely wrong,

00:01:59.680 and I was pretty shocked and appalled by that video.

00:02:02.820 But first, I got to thank our friends over at Ring.

00:02:05.280 You know, it's very hard to even remember what life was like before Ring.

00:02:46.380 You know, I give Ring out as a housewarming gift to friends of mine.

00:02:51.400 Unfortunately, there was one friend of mine that I had not yet given Ring to.

00:02:55.460 Guess what happened to him the other day?

00:02:56.600 He got his laptop stolen right out of his apartment.

00:02:58.380 I should have given him Ring earlier, and I'm certainly telling him to go get it now.

00:03:02.420 Get a special offer on the Ring Welcome Kit when you go to ring.com slash Knowles.

00:03:06.300 The Welcome Kit includes Ring Video Doorbell 3 and Chime Pro.

00:03:10.180 It's all you need to start building custom security for your home today.

00:03:13.440 Go to ring.com slash Knowles.

00:03:15.640 That's ring.com slash Knowles.

00:03:18.340 I'll set the scene for you in Central Park.

00:03:23.960 There's a woman walking her dog.

00:03:26.580 There is a man who is bird watching, but he's really people watching because he starts getting

00:03:32.000 involved in this woman's business.

00:03:34.160 I will refer to her as Ms. Karen.

00:03:37.660 I will refer to him as Mr. Karen.

00:03:40.900 So, Ms. Karen is walking her dog, and she's got the dog without a leash. 0.95

00:03:48.200 So, Mr. Karen decides to get very nosy and tell Ms. Karen to put a leash on her dog.

00:03:56.080 Ms. Karen then says she doesn't want to put the leash on her dog. 0.99

00:04:02.080 So, Mr. Karen, like a creep, says, okay, well, then I'm going to do something that you're not

00:04:08.020 going to like very much, reaches into his bag, pulls out doggy treats, doggy treats that this

00:04:13.340 guy only had so that he could lure other people's dogs away because he was so irritated when the

00:04:19.280 dogs didn't have leashes.

00:04:20.580 So, Mr. Karen pulls out doggy treats to lure Ms. Karen's dog away. 0.80

00:04:25.140 Ms. And I think the exact words that Mr. Karen said, according to him, were, I'm going to do what

00:04:31.060 I'm going to do, and you're not going to like it, which is, that's a pretty weird thing to say

00:04:35.940 when you're isolated with somebody in a park, especially if you're a man and she's a woman.

00:04:40.380 Then Ms. Karen loses her mind. I have caught you up. We have set the scene. Now take a listen to

00:04:48.960 what ensues. Would you please stop? Sir, I'm asking you to stop. Please don't come close to me.

00:04:55.540 Sir, I'm asking you to stop recording me. Please don't come close to me. Please take your phone off.

00:04:59.120 Please don't come close to me. And I'm taking a picture of calling the cops. Please,

00:05:01.740 please call the cops. Please call the cops. I'm going to tell them there's an African-American 1.00

00:05:06.560 threatening my life. Please tell them whatever you like. Excuse me. 0.99

00:05:23.920 I'm sorry. I'm in a ramble and there is a man, African-American. He has a bicycle helmet.

00:05:27.840 He is recording me and threatening me and my dog. There is an African-American man. I am in Central

00:05:35.560 Park. He is recording me and threatening myself and my dog. I'm sorry. I can't hear you either.

00:05:45.900 I'm being threatened by a man in the ramble. Please send the cops immediately.

00:05:49.660 I'm in Central Park in the ramble. I don't know. Thank you. Okay. So obviously this woman behaving 1.00

00:05:59.520 absolutely hysterically, but the guy was behaving hysterically too. They are both Karen. This is

00:06:08.120 Mr. and Ms. Karen. I think they should get married. They should live unhappily ever after.

00:06:14.360 Everyone is focusing on how wrong this woman was and they're calling her all sorts of things. 0.98

00:06:18.480 She's a racist. She's terrible. She's got to have her life ruined. And no one's focusing on what a 1.00

00:06:24.420 weirdo, creepy dude this guy is. This guy, Mr. Karen, is much more in the wrong than this lady, 0.81

00:06:32.540 Ms. Karen. Much more in the wrong. Men should not behave like that. Men should not go up to women 1.00

00:06:39.060 in the middle of parks and start chatting with them if they don't want to be chatted with and,

00:06:45.380 you know, stick around there if they don't want to be stuck around with.

00:06:48.480 And then start feeding treats to their dogs that you're trying to lure away, treats that you only

00:06:54.420 have to lure people's dogs away, and then start filming them. That's weird behavior. People shouldn't

00:06:59.420 do that. Also, men should not humiliate women. They should not humiliate women privately. They

00:07:05.900 should not humiliate women publicly by filming them and putting that video all over the internet.

00:07:10.320 And then subsequently, or consequently rather, ruining her life. That's not very chivalrous

00:07:16.260 behavior. That is the behavior of a society that has lost the sense of manliness and gentlemanliness.

00:07:22.380 And then let's not forget, most of all, he started it. This guy started it because he had to start

00:07:29.700 Karen-ing around her business and making a big fuss because she didn't have her dog on a leash in the 1.00

00:07:36.480 park. Okay. Now what people are trying to do, what race hustling, mostly white liberal social justice

00:07:43.920 warriors are trying to do is make this a whole racial issue. I guarantee you if the case was flipped,

00:07:49.640 and this woman was walking around and this guy didn't have his dog on a leash, they would be making a big 0.99

00:07:57.060 deal about that. They would be saying, oh, it's not a big deal to have your dog on a leash. They would,

00:08:01.900 this is obviously a very opportunistic case for people to push a leftist narrative. It's the same

00:08:07.960 narrative that we see constantly, you know, all over the political left. The New York Times is pushing

00:08:14.380 this precise narrative. Listen to this. They describe him, Mr. Cooper, 57, a Harvard graduate who

00:08:20.180 works in communications. Is hearing that he's a Harvard graduate supposed to make me think

00:08:26.240 he's a more respectable fellow. That is not the way to convince somebody that, that this guy is

00:08:31.240 respectable. Hart, I don't think so. He's long been a prominent birder in the city and is on the board of

00:08:38.220 the New York City Audubon Society. A prominent birder? What is a prominent birder? Oh yes, Mr.

00:08:44.580 Cooper, that well-known birder that, oh yes, I see him birding about. Oh, what is birding? I guess he,

00:08:50.880 he looks at birds. That's what that means. He's a bird watcher. That there are no prominent bird

00:08:56.600 watchers. Okay. He's a guy. Here's what they're saying. Mr. Cooper, who 35 years ago went to a

00:09:03.240 college in Boston, uh, looks at birds and enjoys looking at birds. Okay, fine. Maybe he's a,

00:09:10.880 an otherwise nice guy. He doesn't seem like a nice guy from this video, but sure.

00:09:15.020 Then the New York times admits what he did. This is directly from the New York times quoting Mr.

00:09:21.180 Cooper. Look, if you're going to do what you want, I'm going to do what I want, but you're not going

00:09:25.480 to like it. He told her before he pulled out the treats and began filming. According to his post,

00:09:30.000 Mr. Cooper then produced dog treats and said, he said, I pull out the dog treats I carry for just

00:09:36.040 such intransigence. He wrote, he's admitting he carries the treats to get weird with other people's

00:09:42.780 dogs. That's when I started video recording with my iPhone. And when her inner Karen fully emerged 0.99

00:09:48.400 and took a dark turn, he said, using the name that has become slang for an entitled white woman. 0.82

00:09:53.560 So first of all, the people who are trying to make this a racial thing should at least admit off the

00:09:58.980 top, this guy is using a racist term. The New York times is calling it a racist term. Now it would

00:10:04.960 appear that the word Karen has transcended race and sex mostly because of this guy. But from the very

00:10:10.840 beginning, if they're saying that this woman is a racist, surely this guy is a racist too. He's using

00:10:15.580 the term that the times admits is racist. What's the end result? She loses her job and she loses her

00:10:21.300 dog. I'm not joking. She got fired from her investment management firm and they took her dog away

00:10:27.460 for what? Cause she had this hysterical meltdown in the park because some hysterical guy goaded her

00:10:34.500 into it. And now she's being smeared as a racist. Is this woman a racist? I don't know. Maybe she is, 1.00

00:10:40.740 but from the video, I can't conclude that she's a racist. Why? They're saying that the two pieces of

00:10:45.780 evidence that this woman is a racist are that she behaved hysterically on the phone with the cops

00:10:52.700 and that she noted several times that he is an African American man. Well, she was behaving 0.90

00:10:59.420 hysterically before she ever called the cops from the very beginning of the video. She says, hi, hi,

00:11:05.000 I'm going to get away from me, please stop it. And she's be, I mean, she's behaving in a ridiculous 1.00

00:11:09.000 way, but it's not as though her behavior changed in any significant way. When she called the cops, 0.83

00:11:15.000 she was already behaving hysterically. So that was not performative. And the implication here is that

00:11:20.240 she was performing this hysteria for the cops because she wanted to get the cops there to kill the man 0.97

00:11:25.160 because, you know, there's an epidemic in America of racist cops killing innocent black men, which is 0.97

00:11:32.200 not true. There are incidents that are sensationalized that try to craft this narrative that there is an

00:11:38.620 epidemic of racist cops slaughtering innocent black men, but that isn't the case. The reason that the

00:11:44.600 stories become so sensational when they happen is precisely because they are so rare. It is very easy

00:11:52.780 to be emotionally manipulated, particularly by the mainstream media on issues like this, but the

00:11:57.080 statistics do not bear it out. So there's that first part gone. What about the second one? She kept

00:12:02.320 noting that he's an African American man. Again, maybe she's a racist. Maybe she's not a racist. 0.99

00:12:08.160 Maybe the definition of racism keeps changing because the left exploits it so much. I mean, now we're told

00:12:12.880 that, that only certain races can be racist, but other races can't be racist. I'm not joking.

00:12:18.940 That's what the left tells you. So again, I don't even know what definition we're working with anymore,

00:12:23.340 but let's just look at that piece of evidence. She keeps saying on the phone, he's an African

00:12:27.060 American man. She also notes that he's wearing a bike helmet, right? When you call, if you are going

00:12:33.080 to call and make a police report, which was a ridiculous thing for this woman to do in this case, 0.96

00:12:39.180 but both of these people were behaving in a ridiculous manner. So she calls and makes a police 0.65

00:12:44.140 report. When you make a police report, you describe the person that you're making the police report on.

00:12:48.940 Right? You don't say, well, he's, uh, yeah, he's, uh, wearing a blue shirt. Okay. Can you tell us

00:12:54.620 anything else about him? No, I'm not allowed to say anything else about him because if I do,

00:12:58.420 I'll be smeared as a racist and lose my job. So she mentions his race. She also mentions that he's

00:13:03.340 wearing a bicycle helmet. Is she a cyclophobe? Does she have a deep seated hatred of bicycles or

00:13:11.000 something like that? I don't know. Why did she include that detail? That would seem to be evidence to me

00:13:15.800 that she's including descriptors so that hopefully the police can come and arrest this man for the

00:13:21.540 high crime of being a weirdo with dog treats. Conservatives need to stop playing into this

00:13:28.640 nonsense. They have to. Both of these people behaved badly. Both of them behaved in a shameful way,

00:13:37.140 an embarrassing way. Now only Mr. Karen filmed Ms. Karen and ruined her life, but they both behaved

00:13:44.560 in a, in a silly way. The woman apparently, according to reports is a, is a liberal. So I 0.80

00:13:50.900 don't exactly have a political dog in this fight, but I'm just so offended by this guy's behavior.

00:13:57.780 It's so unchivalrous. It's so unmanly. It's just so, it's just ugly behavior. Okay. And I think some

00:14:04.980 conservatives want to prove that they're not racists to the left, which by the way is not

00:14:10.140 possible because the left doesn't care whether you're a racist or not. They just want to smear

00:14:13.800 you. You know, who's going to know if, if you're a racist or not you, that's a, do you hate people

00:14:19.220 of other races and you, do you judge them unfairly based on their race? No. Okay, good. You're not a

00:14:24.700 racist. Good. Don't worry. Doesn't matter what the left says about you. If you know it, it's good

00:14:29.660 enough. Okay. Defending this creep does not make you Rosa Parks. All right. Ruining this woman's life 1.00

00:14:37.320 does not make you Martin Luther King. Does anyone really believe that this woman should have her 1.00

00:14:42.660 life ruined over this thing because she was walking her dog and some creep tried to lure the dog away 1.00

00:14:48.220 and then filmed her and humiliated her nationally? No, nobody thinks that. I don't think the guy,

00:14:55.420 this weirdo birdwatcher should have his life ruined either. I don't think either of these people

00:14:59.140 should have their lives ruined. I think they should both take a good long think, sit down,

00:15:04.360 have a good long stew session on how their lives came to this point and maybe what's, what's wrong

00:15:10.140 with the way they see the world. But I don't think either of them should have their lives ruined for

00:15:15.100 this. A society that gets pleasure out of ruining people's lives like this for ideological fantasies

00:15:23.980 is sick and ugly. I tweeted out, I said, Hey, Twitter mob, do y'all feel good now that you 0.85

00:15:29.740 ruined this woman's life? And a lot of people responded, mostly white liberals. It's always the 0.92

00:15:36.560 white liberals. That's like that, that, that tends to be the first wave of meanness and nastiness when 0.99

00:15:44.140 it comes to this kind of ideology. But you know, other people too. Some people responded and said,

00:15:50.760 yeah, I feel great. I feel awesome. I feel so happy that this woman's life is ruined. 1.00

00:15:55.280 That is a sick and ugly society. And we should not want any part of that sort of thing. 0.98

00:16:00.800 They're not the only Karens in New York though. Mr. and Ms. Karen, who will go and live unhappily

00:16:05.220 ever after are not the only ones. There was a big Karen session in Staten Island. We'll get to that 0.54

00:16:09.320 in one second. First though, I've got to thank our friends over at Bambi. You know, having a good

00:17:15.860 today. We're moving from Central Park. We're moving all the way down Manhattan Island. We are now crossing

00:17:23.380 over the water, getting into Staten Island, the forgotten borough in New York in a grocery store.

00:17:31.700 Another one, another example of men behaving abominably to women. It's funny. Everyone thinks 1.00

00:17:37.060 that the, the, this story is about race, these kind of Karen stories. It's not about race. Frankly,

00:17:42.700 it's much more about sex than it is about race because some woman doesn't wear a mask 1.00

00:17:46.700 and the Staten Islanders in this supermarket lose their mind, start screaming obscenities

00:17:54.180 to kick this person out of the supermarket.

00:17:56.900 What do you want to do? 1.00

00:18:01.500 Get the f*** out of here. 1.00

00:18:03.500 Get out. 1.00

00:18:08.060 Get out. 1.00

00:18:11.700 Yeah, don't ask women to act like a dirty f*** kid. 1.00

00:18:15.060 What do you think? 1.00

00:18:17.580 That's normal behavior. That's a normal society, right? Somebody walks in to a supermarket,

00:18:23.320 does not have a mask on. You know, that thing that we all did up until three months ago,

00:18:28.600 doesn't have a mask on. You know, the thing that we were told not to wear because they don't do

00:18:33.860 anything actually because it would hurt the healthcare workers. They said, if we wore masks,

00:18:38.320 someone does that. And, uh, it would be as though this guy walked in totally naked,

00:18:47.700 screaming obscenities, firing off pistols. That's the kind of reaction that he got because it was a,

00:18:54.860 he, I actually couldn't tell from the video if it was a he or a she, regardless, whoever the person is.

00:19:00.180 I think it was a she, it looked like a woman, but you know, who can tell with these kinds of things. 1.00

00:19:05.460 Regardless, this is the kind of reaction that that person gets.

00:19:09.240 Something has gone a little bit off in society. People are a little bit too on edge and it's not

00:19:15.860 just the pandemic. And I don't think, I don't think that this epidemic really helps people in,

00:19:22.480 in how on edge they are. But I think we were already on edge. I think that the phenomenon of

00:19:27.780 the Twitter mob, the phenomenon of the gotcha video, the phenomenon of I'm going to ruin this

00:19:32.820 person's life because they said something that I don't like. That is indicative of a deeper edginess

00:19:38.600 in the culture. We're just really angry at each other. We just really, we just want,

00:19:45.100 we just want to get some revenge for something, for I don't know what, because we got a chip on

00:19:49.340 our shoulder because people are very miserable. I'm sure that these two things are connected.

00:19:52.960 There've been a lot of social scientific surveys in recent years that show that people are really

00:19:57.260 miserable. They're lonely. They're angry. Their lives haven't panned out the way that they think

00:20:02.200 that they should. And I think a big cause of that is because of the disconnect because

00:20:06.600 between ideology and reality, the ideological vision that we've all been sold, that nothing

00:20:13.280 really matters. There's no God. There's no love. There's no joy. There's no nobility. There's no

00:20:19.460 point in serving our country or each other. It's all just a farce. We're all going to turn to worm

00:20:24.560 food in the end. We need to just pursue our pleasure ruthlessly and live for ourselves. That's the thing

00:20:30.840 we've been told on the left and the right. And the reality that all of those things will make us

00:20:34.980 miserable. I think that's, that's the disconnect. That's got us all a little bit on edge. Well,

00:20:39.480 guess what? I don't think that you will feel any better by taking that sort of anger out on other

00:20:45.240 people. The only way you will feel any better is if you look in at yourself, take a gander in the

00:20:50.780 mirror and fix your own life. The masks also are just really dumb. Okay. They're dumb. I'm not saying 1.00

00:21:01.180 they don't work sometimes. I'm not saying there's not a place for masks. I'm not saying that in all

00:21:05.820 circumstances you shouldn't wear masks, but the masks generally are dumb and nobody seriously 0.97

00:21:11.280 believes that they're going to save them. Least of all the mainstream media, the news media who are 0.92

00:21:17.080 telling people to wear them. How do I know this? Because MSNBC sent a reporter out into the field

00:21:23.000 to shame people for not wearing masks. But the segment didn't go that well when one of the people

00:21:27.820 that the reporter was shaming decided to point out that the cameraman himself was not wearing

00:21:33.680 a mask. Are the people there just not worried about it, Cal? Are they not worried about their

00:21:37.880 own personal safety? I haven't met anybody who is. I met some folks actually from Lake Geneva who

00:21:44.400 lived in the area. They were staying a few miles outside of town where I were. And they said they're

00:21:48.060 worried about it. They're worried about that second spike. They're worried about folks coming in from

00:21:51.260 Chicago, but they'll quickly add at the same time, this is a place that relies on that business. I think

00:21:56.460 people here want a little bit more funding when it comes to these programs so that they could stay

00:22:00.800 close. But again, I think people felt like the Supreme Court made the decision here in Wisconsin

00:22:04.520 that it was time to open up. But you can see here, just around, nobody's wearing them. Nobody's,

00:22:09.940 there you go, including the cameraman. Yeah. Katie? 1.00

00:22:15.720 Striking images, Cal Perry.

00:22:17.920 Oh, they just can't, they don't. I guess these reporters never took an improv class.

00:22:23.160 So they've got their narrative, right? Here's the narrative. Masks are really important and helpful.

00:22:28.940 And these irresponsible people, probably Trump voters, if you ask me, they're not wearing masks.

00:22:35.000 So they're the bad people. And we need to shame them on national television. Maybe they'll lose

00:22:39.380 their job. Maybe they'll lose their dogs. I don't know. But they're really bad people. And then one

00:22:42.780 of the really bad people points out, he goes, hey, hey buddy, if masks are so important, why is your

00:22:47.580 cameraman not wearing one? And, and the reporter doesn't know how to respond to that because he's just got his

00:22:52.780 narrative. He doesn't know how to improvise when he gets thrown off his obviously fictitious

00:22:57.500 script. So he goes, yeah. And including the cameraman. Okay. Yep. Just completely undercut my argument.

00:23:02.900 Yeah. I have no credibility whatsoever. I'm a hack. I'm a liar on television. Back to you, Katie.

00:23:08.940 And Katie goes, yep, that's right. Pretty crazy images out there. Next time we'll have to make sure

00:23:14.760 that all those people telling the truth are kept far from the camera. They don't, neither of those

00:23:21.560 journalists react to the reality, which is that even MSNBC doesn't think these masks matter that

00:23:29.600 much at all. It's just fake. It's just, it's just a performance. It's every bit the performance that

00:23:37.840 those two people on MSNBC were putting on. That's not me saying that. That's them saying that, right?

00:23:44.040 They're the ones not wearing the mask. All I can do is observe. And what I am observing is the very

00:23:52.160 people telling us that the masks matter are the people not wearing masks. You saw this in the

00:23:58.060 White House briefing the other day. All the reporter very, I think it was a, who was it? It was one of

00:24:01.860 the CNN reporters wearing a mask for all the questions on camera. The minute she thought the

00:24:06.200 cameras went off, she takes the mask off. She doesn't think the mask matters. It's just a political 0.98

00:24:10.640 cudgel. It's just a way to signal her virtue to all of her followers and to make Trump look like a

00:24:16.020 mean, terrible bad guy. The masks don't look that good. Joe Biden wore a mask. Didn't go well. Mayor

00:24:23.980 Garcetti wore a mask in the middle of an empty baseball stadium. Didn't go that well. And the

00:24:28.200 surgeon general told us not to wear masks right before he told us we had to wear masks. We'll get

00:24:31.680 to all that in one second. There is a whole lot more to get to, especially, frankly, probably the

00:24:36.440 biggest story of the day, which is that Twitter is now fact-checking Trump, even though Twitter's

00:24:40.880 wrong and Trump is right. We'll get to that in one second. First, though, I got to thank our friends

00:26:15.820 out in public. He looked like Bane from Batman. He looked like a really lame, unintimidating,

00:26:22.920 doddering Bane from Batman. This is why Trump doesn't wear the mask. Statesmen cannot wear 0.83

00:26:31.420 the masks. I know, but what if the masks help? Okay, yeah, maybe the masks do help. Then even

00:26:37.800 if that were true, the president needs to situate himself in such a way that he doesn't have to wear

00:26:42.080 the mask. Because just as a matter of optics, as a matter of images, and images matter a whole lot

00:26:47.380 in politics, the masks don't look good. And frankly, Biden looked good compared to Eric Garcetti,

00:26:54.860 the mayor of Los Angeles, who was giving an address in the middle of Dodger Stadium.

00:27:00.680 This is a completely empty baseball stadium. Mayor Garcetti is standing in the center of the

00:27:06.380 completely empty baseball stadium with a mask on. What does he think is going to happen?

00:27:12.740 Does he think somebody is going to send a heat-seeking guided coronavirus missile right

00:27:19.520 at him? And so he's going to have the mask and the mask is going to protect him? No,

00:27:23.000 it's obviously signaling his virtue in a very ridiculous way. I'm noticing a pattern here. 0.92

00:27:28.880 I'm noticing a theme. People signaling their virtue and making themselves look ridiculous 0.99

00:27:33.300 in the meantime. Let us not forget the Surgeon General. Surgeon General of the United States, 0.96

00:27:39.980 February 29th. Seriously, people, stop buying masks, all caps, exclamation point. They are not

00:27:46.760 all caps effective in preventing general public from catching coronavirus. But if healthcare

00:27:53.080 providers can't get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk.

00:27:58.280 This original tweet didn't make any sense in the first place because what he's saying is stop buying

00:28:03.440 masks. They're not effective at helping you, but they are effective at helping other people.

00:28:08.040 Why is that? How's that? Is there something different about me? Is it that when you graduate

00:28:14.060 from medical school, all of a sudden your immune system completely changes? No, I don't think so.

00:28:18.820 Didn't make sense in the first place, but don't forget the experts in the lab coats,

00:28:22.200 the political authorities, right? The top guy told us don't buy masks, February 29th. Then May 23rd,

00:28:28.660 quote, as our communities reopen, wearing a face covering is something we all can and should do

00:28:36.800 to protect each other. So no matter how you're spending Memorial Day weekend, wear a face mask

00:28:41.180 covering when out in public. Comment with a selfie and encourage others to do so too.

00:28:46.160 Which one do we believe? Well, you would say we got to believe the most recent one because that's the

00:28:53.860 newest one based on the science. Science hasn't changed. The science, I know you think, well,

00:29:00.260 you don't think. If you're listening to this show, you probably have a decent grasp on this,

00:29:03.520 but many people think that science is like something that changes with total precision day by day. Now we

00:29:09.400 know. Everything that ever came before today was wrong, but now we know for certain the eternal

00:29:14.260 scientific truths of the universe. That's not how it works. They're going to change their mind on

00:29:19.620 masks again. They're going to change their mind on a whole lot of things again. You cannot

00:29:25.800 simultaneously say that we can export, outsource all of our politics to the scientific lab coat

00:29:33.960 experts because they are so invariably correct. And also they contradict themselves on a daily basis.

00:29:40.960 You can't have those at the same time. Perhaps the more reasonable thing to do,

00:29:44.260 would be take the advice of scientific experts and other sorts of advisors. Take that advice and then

00:29:51.540 engage in the process of politics, which is what we're all doing in self-government, debating what kind

00:29:58.200 of society we want to live in, what kind of risks we want to assume, how we want to get along together.

00:30:02.580 That's probably what I would do. That's how politics is really supposed to be engaged in.

00:30:08.260 But people are trying to cut that off left and right, including a Twitter, which is now trying to cut off

00:30:12.800 the political process by declaring, unprecedented, declaring that President Trump is wrong.

00:30:20.000 And ironically, they're saying he's wrong about things that he's actually right about and they're wrong about.

00:30:23.620 We'll get to that in a second. First, though, I've got to tell you about Backstage, which is happening

00:30:27.400 4 p.m. Pacific, 7 p.m. Eastern. That's coming up tonight. So get excited for that. Also, don't forget,

00:31:20.960 This is a big deal. President Trump is being fact-checked on Twitter. But as you know,

00:31:27.920 fact-checking is a relatively recent political phenomenon. I mean, actual fact-checking has been

00:31:35.500 going on for a long time. But this journalistic phenomenon of fact-checking is probably at this

00:31:41.200 point about 10 years old. And what fact-checks really mean is they are left-wing opinion columns

00:31:47.660 that pretend that they are objectively, indisputably true. And so that's the fact-check

00:31:54.980 that refutes right-wing opinion columns or opinion pieces. You see this in the Washington Post. They

00:32:02.080 never call it the counterpoint. They never call it the left-wing point. They always call it the fact

00:32:05.720 check, even though the fact-check is nothing more than a left-wing piece. So they're doing this now

00:32:11.320 on Twitter. President Trump sends out a tweet, says, quote, there is no way, zero, that mail-in ballots

00:32:16.600 will be anything less than substantially fraudulent. Mailboxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged,

00:32:22.680 and even illegally printed out and fraudulently signed. The governor of California is sending

00:32:27.500 ballots to millions of people. Anyone living in the state, no matter who they are or how they got

00:32:32.380 there, will get one. That will be followed up with professionals telling all of these people,

00:32:38.220 many of whom have never even thought of voting before, how and for whom to vote. This will be a

00:32:42.640 rigged election, no way. So what Trump has just made is not, he hasn't even made a statement

00:32:49.000 about what is currently happening or what has happened in the past, primarily. He's making a

00:32:54.280 statement predicting what will happen in the future if there is an unprecedented policy that people are

00:33:00.860 trying to push as the unprecedented response to the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, right?

00:33:06.720 There would be no way, if we're talking about mail-in voting across the country, there would be no way

00:33:12.300 to gauge how, how that works out because it's never happened before. We've never had something of that

00:33:19.480 scale. So he makes this prediction. Twitter decides to ding him with a fact check. And it's a, it's just

00:33:26.620 a little blurb underneath. It says, get the real facts, get the facts about mail-in ballots with an

00:33:31.260 exclamation point. You got to pay attention to this. Then you click on it and says, Trump makes

00:33:34.820 unsubstantiated claims. And you know, this is basically, they're saying this is BS. Don't believe it.

00:33:40.580 Except, and I, something tells me that the White House just has to know about this. They have to

00:33:46.100 time these things because they know how the news is going to play out. The very same day that Trump

00:33:50.900 makes this point that there will be voter fraud, which there will be having to do with mail-in ballots.

00:33:56.640 We get a story out of West Virginia. Thomas Cooper, mail carrier in Pendleton County,

00:34:01.520 was charged yesterday in a criminal complaint with attempted election fraud, according to U.S.

00:34:08.720 Attorney Bill Powell. Cooper, 47 years old, is charged with attempts to defraud the residents

00:34:14.120 of West Virginia of a fair election. This is based on the fact that in April, the clerk of Pendleton

00:34:21.440 County received a 2020 primary election COVID-19 mail-in absentee requests from eight voters on

00:34:28.260 which the voters' party ballot request appeared to have been altered. So they see, they get a bunch of

00:34:34.520 these ballots where it looks like something changed. And now it turns out that this mail carrier,

00:34:39.220 Thomas Cooper, was trying to commit election fraud. Just one guy on just one day that happens to be the

00:34:46.860 day that President Trump tweets this and Twitter fact checks it. Sure looks like Trump's claims are

00:34:52.800 substantiated to me. And don't forget, we're just talking about election fraud having to do with the mail

00:34:59.980 system. There are other types of election fraud too. Non-citizens voting, lack of voter ID, people

00:35:06.040 voting multiple times, bussing in from other counties and other states. All this sort of stuff has

00:35:10.760 happened. Okay, all this sort of stuff happens regularly. We have many cases, well over a thousand

00:35:17.400 documented cases in recent years. But even if we did, this is kind of the problem with voter fraud is

00:35:22.880 you don't get a lot of documents on what actually happens. So we do have a lot of evidence that's

00:35:28.300 happened. And presumably the problem is much, much larger than that. This is a big issue that

00:35:34.220 Twitter is fact checking Trump. Because Twitter and Facebook and Google, right, and all these places

00:35:39.360 have a monopoly over the flow of information on the internet. I'm not saying they have a monopoly over

00:35:46.940 information per se, meaning there are still conservatives who are on Twitter, right? Trump is still on Twitter.

00:35:53.140 So he can say his point of view. But they have a monopoly over the flow of the information.

00:35:59.380 Because whenever Trump gives his point of view, they can smack a fact check here and say, nope,

00:36:04.280 really, that's not true. Even if it is true. That's a very bad situation. We should not permit

00:36:14.500 these decidedly left-wing big tech monopolists to control our flow of information and our elections. 1.00

00:36:24.140 We haven't allowed that to happen in other ways that we communicate. We shouldn't allow it to happen

00:36:28.380 here. You know I'm as skeptical of the government as anybody. But I am more skeptical of big tech.

00:36:36.160 Because at least the government has some slight accountability to me. And there is no reason in

00:36:41.380 the name of, I don't know, in the name of any kind of slogan, the free market that we need to allow

00:36:47.740 Twitter and Google and Facebook to control our elections. It's not even, you wouldn't even make

00:36:53.580 a free market argument for that. But some people have suggested that sort of thing. No, no way,

00:36:58.140 Buster. I'm not letting some Silicon Valley weirdos control my politics because of some misguided

00:37:05.080 interpretation of a principle that I actually hold. Speaking of misinformation, turning to

00:37:12.820 Washington state, not too far from Silicon Valley, we are now looking at the coronavirus death tally.

00:37:21.280 And you know, certain things are a little bit wrong. Like for instance, the New York Times yesterday

00:37:25.540 published this piece with virtually all of the victims of coronavirus. Then you look down the list

00:37:30.920 and you see the sixth name on the list did not die from coronavirus. He was murdered and left in the

00:37:37.560 woods in New Jersey. Okay. Well, that's not coronavirus. I wonder how many other issues there

00:37:43.140 are here. Well, we got one out of Washington state. Washington state's department of health

00:37:48.180 has now confirmed that among the coronavirus death tally, they've included people who died from other

00:37:53.900 causes, including gunshot injuries, which means I guess the virus is now picking up guns and we should

00:38:00.800 all really be afraid. That certainly would terrify me if this Chinese virus decided to arm itself 0.99

00:38:06.640 with, with firearms. The Freedom Foundation, which uncovered this, reported in remarks made during a

00:38:13.220 telephone briefing, the DOH officials acknowledged knowingly, including knowingly, including multiple

00:38:19.200 deaths caused by gunshot wounds in the state's COVID-19 fatality account. A reporter asked the Washington

00:38:25.760 governor and failed presidential candidate Jay Inslee about it. And Jay went on the defensive.

00:38:30.800 What sort of criteria are being used to mark these fatalities?

00:38:35.260 Well, it's from the official documents, the best information we have from the local health

00:38:39.860 officials. That's the best information we have. I'm not sure the relevance of what that group,

00:38:46.740 I guess they're saying that that would make it 887 dead. That's okay. And we should not

00:38:55.380 act responsibly if there's only 887 people instead of a thousand people. I'm not sure I understand that

00:39:03.540 logic. I don't think anybody does understand it who knows any of these families who've lost a loved

00:39:11.080 one. So, uh, I don't think that's a particularly persuasive argument, even if it was true.

00:39:18.220 Yeah, that's not a persuasive argument because that's not the argument that anybody's making.

00:39:22.220 That's the straw man that you're making because you got caught lying. He's saying what? So people

00:39:28.480 are saying because we got the numbers wrong pretty significantly by double, double digit percentages

00:39:33.940 that, uh, what, that we shouldn't take the virus seriously. I don't think that's a good argument.

00:39:39.780 Yeah, of course it's not a good argument. That's why nobody's making that argument.

00:39:42.200 We're just pointing out that you got the numbers wrong and you got them very wrong and you did 0.52

00:39:48.580 something extraordinarily dumb, which is include gunshot victims as coronavirus deaths. And it's 0.76

00:39:56.060 making us question, question your credibility on everything else having to do with this virus.

00:40:00.640 Also because you guys have been wrong about this from day one. You've been wrong about the models.

00:40:07.960 You've been wrong about the predictions. You've been wrong about the efficacy of masks.

00:40:10.880 You've been wrong about putting sick people into nursing homes. You've just been wrong about

00:40:14.200 everything basically. So yeah, we question your credibility here. And of course, Jay Inslee goes

00:40:23.060 on the defensive. He, he fights this straw man. Then he attacks the people who are, who did the actual

00:40:33.460 research, who did the investigation and who had their suspicions confirmed by the department of

00:40:40.100 health, right? So it's the Washington state department of health is confirming that this

00:40:44.060 mistake happened. And Jay Inslee writes it all off. It's a crazy conspiracy theory.

00:40:49.280 The conspiracy theories that are fanning people's efforts to go out and do what this group did and

00:40:57.480 argue that 887 dead is just not something to be worried about is really disappointing to me.

00:41:03.640 I've heard people things say things that are from a different planet. And it's very unfortunate that

00:41:12.100 some folks in public life have fanned the flames of misinformation in that regard because it's

00:41:18.660 dangerous. It's dangerous to people's health. I have no reason to doubt the fatality numbers that we're

00:41:23.900 using in the state of Washington right now. The problem is you got some people out there who are

00:41:29.280 fanning these conspiracy claims from the planet Pluto. And it's just disgusting what they're trying

00:41:35.660 to say of all these crazy deep state malarkey who are kind of suggest that this is not a problem in

00:41:43.260 our state. I find that hard to accept with the number of dead in our state. So that's a problem and I hope

00:41:50.280 it gets resolved. So nothing he just said is true. Not one single thing. Where's the fact check?

00:41:55.760 Hey, Twitter, Twitter, where's your fact check on this demagogue and liar Jay Inslee?

00:42:03.300 He said that people think that 887 dead is nothing to worry about. Nobody said that. Not a single

00:42:08.840 person has said that. You said Jay Inslee is the only guy who said that. Nobody thinks that 887 dead is

00:42:15.740 not something to worry about. We think that you Jay Inslee are something to worry about because you've

00:42:20.660 lied about this and you've gotten everything wrong. And then you're smearing your constituents who

00:42:27.340 showed that you got something wrong as some kind of crazy conspiracy theorists.

00:42:33.060 Your own department of health admitted that the so-called conspiracy theorists were right and that

00:42:39.280 you were wrong. But there's no humility here. And this is something you've got to pay close attention

00:42:45.160 to this around the country. None of these politicians are going to admit that they got this

00:42:50.460 wrong. They can't do it. They are dispositionally incapable of that kind of humility, of that kind

00:42:58.840 of self-awareness. Narcissism is a professional risk of politics. And at the high levels, it's nearly

00:43:08.440 a requirement. They're not going to admit they got it wrong. They're going to double down and they're

00:43:13.280 going to get nasty. And they're going to get vindictive. And they're going to try to ruin

00:43:16.840 people's lives. And they're going to try to smear all of their critics as conspiracy theorists,

00:43:22.640 even when the state health departments admit that the conspiracy theorists were correct.

00:43:27.000 This is what the left does all the time. You see it on Wikipedia now. Over the past couple of years,

00:43:31.560 one thing that they've managed to do is for a huge number of prominent conservatives start,

00:43:38.300 they've included this phrase conspiracy theorists on their Wikipedia page. They never put conspiracy

00:43:45.720 theorists on James Comey's Wikipedia page because after James Comey said that there might be a Moscow

00:43:52.540 prostitute urine tape with Donald Trump in it based on nothing, that's conspiracy theory.

00:43:57.780 They never put a conspiracy theory mark on any of the left-wing journalists' Facebook pages,

00:44:04.780 Jake Tapper, Jim Acosta, any of them who peddled the Russia lie and hoax for three years. They never

00:44:11.540 do that. But they will put conspiracy theorists on right-wingers just to convince people not to

00:44:17.380 listen to them. That's why they're going to put fact checks when President Trump says things which

00:44:21.200 actually are true, so-called fact checks. It's just a way to signal don't believe this person,

00:44:26.680 don't listen to this person. It's going to get very vindictive. The only way that we're going to be

00:44:32.120 able to get back to anything even resembling normal society as we once knew it in the way

00:44:37.800 back ago days of three or four months ago is by pushing fearlessly, not afraid of what they're

00:44:43.420 going to call us, not afraid of the consequences, which can be dire, not afraid of the digital

00:44:47.880 consequences, which can be dire. They won't just change your wiki. They won't just fact check your

00:44:52.200 Twitter. They'll put videos of you all over the internet just like that creepy Karen in Central Park

00:44:56.400 did to Ms. Karen in Central Park, right? That is the kind of vitriol that we're talking about.

00:45:01.400 We are in an election year. This is all geared toward the election. The ridiculous responses

00:45:07.200 from governors, the day-by-day more ridiculous responses of governors on lockdowns that no longer 0.94

00:45:15.700 have a scientific justification, the fact checks from Twitter, the rhetoric, the vicious rhetoric coming

00:45:23.820 from guys like Jay Inslee about citizen groups that are trying to correct the record.

00:45:27.900 It's all the focus on certain highly charged, emotionally manipulative incidents in this country

00:45:34.620 to divide people on issues like race and sex. It is all geared toward November. That is only going to

00:45:41.880 get more intense. Don't let them fool you. Don't let them whip you up into that frenzy. Do not become

00:45:48.260 either of those two crazy people in Central Park and don't get pleasure out of ruining people's lives. 0.89

00:45:53.220 That's the trap. That's the trick. Don't let them dupe you. All right, that's our show. Got a lot more 0.97

00:45:57.860 to get to. We'll do it tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm Michael Knowles. This is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:47:15.140 on The Andrew Klavan Show. I'm Andrew Klavan.
