00:00:27.260 A group of congressmen have floated a proposal to create an America First Caucus in the House of Representatives.
00:00:34.960 The caucus got the platform right here.
00:00:37.760 A fairly modest endeavor to defend the American nation, to defend the, quote,
00:00:42.800 Anglo-Saxon political tradition, and notably to oppose ugly architecture in federal buildings.
00:00:48.960 Sounds great to me. Sign me up, right?
00:00:50.920 Well, you understand, some liberals have called it racist.
00:00:55.200 Now, I know this will come as a shock to you.
00:00:57.740 They never do that sort of thing.
00:00:59.100 And I know this is going to come as a shock to you as well.
00:01:01.740 Republican leadership went squishy, caved.
00:01:05.800 They're running away from it as fast as they can.
00:01:08.320 But you know what?
00:01:09.220 The Anglo-Saxon political tradition is a wonderful thing.
00:01:12.640 And ugly architecture is a very bad thing.
00:01:15.420 And we will get into all of the America First Caucus policy platform,
00:01:20.560 even if the squishes won't.
00:01:22.200 I'm Michael Knowles.
00:01:23.340 This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:01:24.080 Welcome back to the show.
00:01:33.380 My favorite comment from Friday is from Top10Guy1, who says he is now channeling Dr. Fauci.
00:01:40.540 He says, Americans will get their freedoms back once I am no longer able to keep moving the gold
00:01:46.920 posts.
00:01:47.840 Right.
00:01:48.300 I think that's an insightful read of Dr. Fauci.
00:01:52.220 The problem is he seems always to be able to move the goalposts.
00:01:57.300 He's now even wading into political matters that have not even the most tenuous relationship
00:02:03.180 to so-called public health.
00:02:05.660 We will certainly get into all of that.
00:02:07.380 But I would say if you're if you're hoping for for the Fauci public health dictatorship to let up
00:02:12.480 anytime soon, I would not hold my breath.
00:02:15.320 I think it's far wiser to be prepared.

00:03:26.880 The America First Caucus Policy Platform.
00:03:31.260 Here it is.
00:03:31.660 I have this document.
00:03:33.040 Am I even allowed to possess this now?
00:03:34.620 Because I'm told it's racist, bigoted, nativist.
00:03:39.520 That's a, that's a fun word.
00:03:41.060 Nativist, awful, terrible.
00:03:42.480 Okay.
00:03:42.880 First of all, we begin with the name, America First.
00:03:46.520 Lots of confusion about this name, America First.
00:03:49.020 They say this refers to white supremacists or something.
00:03:52.260 The term America First has existed in US politics for a very, very long time.
00:03:58.980 And sure, sometimes the phrase has been uttered by unsavory characters, but much more often
00:04:03.820 it's been uttered by very savory characters.
00:04:07.040 I don't know.
00:04:07.320 That seems strange to call people savory.
00:04:08.660 The most famous iteration of America First was the America First Committee, which all
00:04:14.740 the libs say was terrible and racist and thisist and thatist.
00:04:18.020 The America First Committee going back, you know, I guess almost a century now, 80 years,
00:04:23.320 included William F. Buckley Jr., included John F. Kennedy, included Gerald Ford, two presidents.
00:04:29.880 Well, that's, can't be that bad, huh?
00:04:31.600 Potter Stewart, the Supreme Court Justice, Frank Lloyd Wright, speaking of architecture.
00:04:35.960 Lots and lots of people.
00:04:39.120 This was a broadly isolationist group in the United States, but as you can tell, it cut
00:04:44.200 across party lines and it was isolationist given a particular time period.
00:04:50.280 The phrase was then next made famous again by President Donald Trump.
00:04:54.740 You know, he said, America First, that's going to be our credo.
00:04:58.220 That's going to be our rallying cry.
00:05:00.080 All right.
00:05:00.600 So what does the platform actually say?
00:05:04.100 I'll, you know, it's like an eight or nine page platform.
00:05:06.280 I recommend you go check it out yourselves, but here are the main points.
00:05:09.920 Election fraud is bad and Republicans and Democrats have pointed out for years that there
00:05:16.540 are vulnerabilities to the election process.
00:05:18.780 So we want to implement a national voter ID.
00:05:22.140 This is extremely popular across all Americans, including every demographic group.
00:05:26.320 They want to look into curtailing mail-in voting.
00:05:30.660 Yep.
00:05:30.860 They want to look into fraud allegations from 2020, such as, just to give an example, the
00:05:37.120 least controversial example, the state of Pennsylvania violating its own state constitution
00:05:42.520 because the election officials wanted to give an advantage to Democrats.
00:05:45.300 Okay.
00:05:45.560 Makes perfect sense.
00:05:46.740 Next bullet point, sovereignty.
00:05:49.160 America was founded on the basis of individual and state sovereignty.
00:05:52.680 Yep.
00:05:52.940 At the federal level, it means we need to expose deep state actors, shrink the regulatory state,
00:05:57.280 and eliminate thousands of regulations and indeed entire bureaucracies.
00:06:00.200 That's just basically conservative boilerplate.
00:06:03.320 Nothing controversial there.
00:06:04.600 Big tech.
00:06:05.300 Big tech firms have become the most powerful arbiters of information in history, and we've
00:06:09.140 got to be able to do something about that, starting with section 230.
00:06:12.420 Yep.
00:06:12.740 We've been talking about that for years at this point.
00:06:15.620 Immigration.
00:06:16.060 The American First Caucus recognizes that our country is more than a mass of consumers
00:06:21.720 or a series of abstract ideas.
00:06:23.480 It's a nation with a border and a culture.
00:06:25.320 Yep.
00:06:25.620 And here's the line that got them in trouble.
00:06:27.620 With a common respect for uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions.
00:06:34.580 Yeah, that's all true.
00:06:35.600 That's all true.
00:06:36.080 And we'll get into this Anglo-Saxon term that the libs and the squishes are trying to make
00:06:39.980 a big deal over.
00:06:40.840 But of course, everyone agrees with that point on immigration.
00:06:43.300 Every conservative agrees with that point.
00:06:44.680 But infrastructure, they say they want beautiful architecture, not hideous architecture.
00:06:49.280 Yup.
00:06:49.640 Sign me up.
00:06:50.140 If that were the only plank, I would sign up to join this caucus.
00:06:53.780 Foreign aid, they're generally opposed to foreign aid, but they're not even saying we
00:07:00.760 need a total end to it.
00:07:02.760 They're just saying, quote, American tax dollars should not go toward teaching gender studies
00:07:06.600 in Pakistan.
00:07:07.940 I agree with that.
00:07:09.320 Yup.
00:07:10.400 So yeah, they're basically against foreign aid, but there's a little nuance there.
00:07:13.500 National security, they oppose the liberal imperialists, the sort of Wilsonian neoconservative.
00:07:19.820 Yup.
00:07:20.040 A lot of conservatives agree with that.
00:07:21.620 Coronavirus, that this has been a big power grab.
00:07:25.020 Yup.
00:07:25.600 Trade, we need to get fairer trade.
00:07:27.200 Yup.
00:07:27.480 Totally makes sense.
00:07:28.360 Environment.
00:07:29.540 We want to protect our environment, but we don't want to make an idol out of it.
00:07:35.880 Yup.
00:07:36.080 Makes sense.
00:07:36.720 Energy.
00:07:37.100 The, I mean, this is all, the Chinese Communist Party is bad.
00:07:42.440 American education should not be geared toward hating America.
00:07:45.100 It's like totally common sense stuff.
00:07:48.600 No conservative could, could disagree with very much of this platform.
00:07:53.240 Okay.
00:07:55.460 But let's get to the most controversial point.
00:07:58.180 The Anglo-Saxon political tradition.
00:08:00.260 When I read that, I didn't bat an eye, of course, of course America has an Anglo-Saxon
00:08:06.100 political tradition.
00:08:07.900 I say this as someone who derives from the Italians.
00:08:12.020 The Italian people did not found Plymouth Colony.
00:08:15.100 The Italian people did not make up the Continental Congress.
00:08:19.100 Okay.
00:08:19.280 There's obviously an English political tradition here, but this term Anglo-Saxon, it's elicited
00:08:25.260 lots of, this is the dog whistle.
00:08:27.040 Kevin McCarthy, the, the leader of the house, the, the Republican leader in the house says
00:08:33.520 it's a nativist dog whistle.
00:08:36.400 Let's turn to an actual conservative, Antonin Scalia, who not that long ago, about 15 years
00:08:42.280 ago, was, was asked about the American political tradition.
00:08:46.680 He used exactly the same words.
00:08:48.520 I want to bring you the brilliance, the wit of Antonin Scalia in full.
00:08:54.280 Well, diversity alone is, is, is not what makes a great nation.
00:08:59.560 I mean, diversity alone makes some of the tribal societies of the world that, that never quite
00:09:07.380 make it, such as some of the places in the Middle East where we're trying to establish
00:09:14.160 nationhood.
00:09:15.380 And, um, as I said earlier, it's, it's part of our tradition that everybody can be an American,
00:09:21.140 but there has been a common, uh, a common culture.
00:09:26.400 Yeah.
00:09:26.560 You don't have to belong to it, but there has been that.
00:09:29.180 What is it?
00:09:29.720 What is it?
00:09:30.380 What is it?
00:09:30.860 Okay.
00:09:31.400 You, you want to know what it is?
00:09:32.840 Number one.
00:09:33.600 Is there a bond?
00:09:34.420 Is there a common culture?
00:09:35.500 I think, well, let me tell you a story.
00:09:38.860 My junior year college, I studied in Switzerland, and I used to get really annoyed when the, uh,
00:09:45.320 the French Swiss professors I had would refer constantly to les pays anglo-sax, the Anglo-Saxon
00:09:54.440 countries, uh, meaning England, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, okay, Canada.
00:10:02.440 And I said, you know, hey, my name is Scalia, and I'm as American as anybody.
00:10:07.420 Look at this face.
00:10:08.160 Is this an Anglo-Saxon face?
00:10:12.200 I had never been in England, but at the end of my year, I went to England, and I felt at
00:10:18.800 my home, there is, there is no doubt that American culture, American common culture, which nobody
00:10:26.180 has to belong to, originates with English culture, and that includes Shakespeare, it
00:10:33.440 includes nursery rhymes that we all know, and that we use as examples, that's our common
00:10:39.500 culture.
00:10:39.880 And I think the framers recognized that, uh, and, uh, diversity's fine, but diversity does
00:10:47.740 not make a nation.
00:10:49.720 Diversity does not make a nation.
00:10:53.580 Unity makes a nation.
00:10:56.400 Not saying that it's only one particular type of people, Scalia makes this point.
00:11:01.320 I could make the very same point.
00:11:03.200 We, we look a little swarthy, don't we, for the Anglo-Saxon people, and yet this political
00:11:08.920 tradition that we have is Anglo-Saxon.
00:11:12.260 That's just the way that it is.
00:11:13.580 People now are quibbling over all these sorts of little terms, and they're saying it's,
00:11:19.400 that, that this is a pagan reference.
00:11:21.800 I actually heard someone say that it was, the Anglo-Saxons refer to pagans, and, uh,
00:11:26.120 St. Ethelbert would, would firmly disagree with you, I think, because he was the king of
00:11:30.980 the Anglo-Saxons converted to Christianity in the year 601, 400 years, more than 400 years
00:11:35.860 before the Norman conquest.
00:11:36.820 It's all, I think, disingenuous stuff.
00:11:40.180 It's all disingenuous stuff to deny the real political tradition in this country, which
00:11:46.200 really does come from a specific place, from England.
00:11:51.160 And we want to pretend that it doesn't, and we want to pretend that, oh, it's just all
00:11:55.060 universal, and it's all just an idea floating in outer space.
00:11:58.320 And, you know, America could just as easily have come from, from the Timbuktu political
00:12:02.880 tradition as it did from the United Kingdom, and that just simply is not true.
00:12:09.060 Moreover, we have an America First caucus here, which is explicitly not a racial identitarian
00:12:16.040 group, and it's being accused of being a racial identitarian group.
00:12:20.720 These, the congressmen who are pushing it, Paul Gosar, or some of the other people.
00:12:25.400 But we do have racial identitarian congressional caucuses.
00:12:29.000 We have the Congressional Black Caucus.
00:12:30.400 Congressional Black Caucus, exclusively racial, supports leftist policies, totally okay.
00:12:36.900 Congressional Hispanic Caucus, exclusively racial, supports leftist policies, okay.
00:12:43.140 America First Caucus, racially inclusive, likes the actual American political tradition,
00:12:50.580 and hates ugly architecture, bigoted, racist, terrible, you got to get rid of it.
00:12:53.580 It's so disingenuous.
00:12:55.200 I, I just can't even take it anymore.
00:12:57.140 I don't, I oppose racial hatred, because that's an offense against human dignity.
00:13:06.360 That's it.
00:13:07.440 So if I know that, then I don't need to worry about some disingenuous leftists calling me
00:13:11.780 a racist.
00:13:12.640 It just doesn't bother me.
00:13:14.040 But so many Republican leaders, it's like this magical incantation.
00:13:18.640 The minute you even suggest, Ray, the minute they'll run, they'll say, I'll give you whatever
00:13:23.920 you want, please, I'm Kevin McCarthy, please, I'll disavow the entire American political tradition.
00:13:29.460 Totally pathetic.
00:13:31.900 If you want to protect yourself against all sorts of terrible things, you got to check
00:13:38.160 out Ring.
00:13:38.820 So much is going on at our front doors these days.
00:13:41.280 That is something that has only gotten crazier for me because of my cute little bundle of
00:13:45.060 joy, my newborn son.
00:13:46.260 So you got people coming and they're delivering all sorts of stuff, right?
00:13:49.260 They're delivering food.
00:13:50.180 That's great.
00:13:50.740 You know, and they're delivering toys and clothing and that's great.
00:13:54.060 And then they're delivering people.
00:13:55.940 You know, sometimes some friends and family, okay.
00:13:59.000 And then maybe some in-laws and you think maybe I want to keep that door closed.
00:14:02.940 All I'm saying is, if you have a ring, you can know who is outside your door before you
00:14:07.680 open that door.
00:14:08.800 You can be in your bedroom.
00:14:10.120 You can be at the office.
00:14:10.940 You can be on a beach on the other side of the world.
00:14:13.100 With a ring, you'll be able to know who is at your doorstep.
00:14:15.540 Even if they don't ring the doorbell, with motion detection, you'll get a notification.
00:14:18.900 Go check it out today.
00:14:20.900 This really makes me feel safe when I travel.
00:14:23.280 I know that sweet little Elise and cute little June are all safe.
00:14:26.580 It also makes a great housewarming present.

00:14:41.140 By the standards of today's Republican Party, Antonin Scalia is a far right, fascist, nativist.
00:14:50.480 I don't know.
00:14:52.800 I have to get to the Kevin McCarthy line.
00:14:55.240 He says, quote, the Republican Party is the party of Lincoln and the party of more opportunity
00:15:01.400 for all Americans, not nativist dog whistles.
00:15:04.040 What does nativist mean?
00:15:09.820 We hear that term a lot.
00:15:11.180 What does nativist mean?
00:15:13.260 It means that you have, I suppose, an inclination or a preference or you have the interests of the
00:15:20.860 people born in this country over the people who are not born in this country who want to come in here.
00:15:28.620 Nativist, I guess, it's not a racial thing, right?
00:15:30.460 We have people of all sorts of races in America who are born here, who are native to America.
00:15:36.200 It means that you think maybe we should reduce immigration a little bit.
00:15:41.000 It means maybe you think we should not have a totally open border.
00:15:44.540 It means maybe you think that if we take 2 million foreigners in every single year,
00:15:49.440 way, way, way, way more than anywhere else in the world,
00:15:54.440 way, way, way more than most Americans want.
00:15:56.400 But polls show that the majority of Americans want to dramatically reduce
00:16:00.500 not just illegal immigration, but legal immigration too.
00:16:03.620 If you think that, if you are one of the majority of Americans of all races and different political
00:16:08.420 stripes, then you're a nativist, according not to some radical leftist, according to Kevin McCarthy,
00:16:14.460 the leader of the Republican Party.
00:16:15.940 With Republicans like this, who needs Democrats?
00:16:18.900 Who needs Democrats?
00:16:19.800 Democrats.
00:16:21.200 It's absolutely pathetic.
00:16:24.980 Gotta stop letting the left dictate the terms of this conversation.
00:16:30.820 There is nothing wrong with advocating a lower level of immigration.
00:16:34.180 As Antonin Scalia says very well, diversity is a fine thing, but it does not make a nation.
00:16:42.440 Unity makes a nation.
00:16:44.520 And if you want to bring other people in, I suppose that's fine.
00:16:48.520 Nations have immigration.
00:16:50.260 Generally, Western nations have way more immigration than non-Western nations.
00:16:53.680 And America has the most immigration of all.
00:16:55.880 Fine, you want to bring some people in, that's great.
00:16:58.140 But if you can't assimilate them, then immigration is weakening your nation.
00:17:04.060 And that's that.
00:17:05.000 That's all there is to it.
00:17:07.440 What is that common bond?
00:17:08.820 It's what Scalia and all those guys were debating.
00:17:11.040 The common thread that holds America together, they say, well, it's not a people.
00:17:14.920 It's not a, is it a faith?
00:17:16.360 Is it a, is it a language?
00:17:18.200 I don't know, increasing, we don't even speak the same language.
00:17:21.640 If we have nothing holding us together, then we're not a nation.
00:17:24.520 Now we're not even allowed to acknowledge our actual political tradition.
00:17:28.280 They are denying the, the, the actual history of the United States and of England for that matter.
00:17:35.940 Bad situation.
00:17:37.100 It's a crisis, you might call it.
00:17:38.500 Even Joe Biden might call it a crisis.
00:17:40.460 Joe Biden has assiduously avoided speaking to reporters really at all.
00:17:46.880 But specifically on this issue of immigration, he's avoided the word crisis.
00:17:51.020 He's now slipped.
00:17:52.880 A Freudian slip for Uncle Joe is when he accidentally says what he means.
00:17:56.560 Joe referred to the crisis at the southern border.
00:17:59.220 So he's walking to his car.
00:18:10.880 Kind of hard to hear him with that mask.
00:18:13.120 There it is though, crisis.
00:18:15.620 Working on that crisis.
00:18:17.480 This is probably why Joe loves the mask so much is so that people can't hear all of the nonsense that he spouts.
00:18:22.260 I heard crisis, sorry.
00:18:25.840 Sorry, Buster.
00:18:26.580 Of course it's a crisis at the southern border.
00:18:29.000 Nobody thinks that's a good thing.
00:18:30.500 It's bad for America.
00:18:31.460 Frankly, it's bad for the people who are trying to pour over here.
00:18:34.020 It's totally lawless.
00:18:35.360 It's anti-democratic.
00:18:36.660 You're violating the laws that were democratically enacted.
00:18:40.100 It's wrong.
00:18:41.580 It's wrong to do that sort of thing.
00:18:43.180 But if you say that, I guess you're a nativist.
00:18:45.780 Isn't that terrible to be a nativist?
00:18:48.000 Just these words, these words that people just use, that they throw around, that I don't think really have much meaning at all anymore.
00:18:57.360 And yet we live in such fear of them.
00:19:01.180 We're still, we're a country that lives in neurotic fear.
00:19:04.000 That's why we're all wearing these stupid masks even a year later, more than a year after 15 days to slow the spread.
00:19:10.860 After we flattened the curve, after we found a cure, after most people have gotten the vaccine.
00:19:15.840 Virtually everyone has access to it.
00:19:18.660 Ron DeSantis made this point the other day in Florida.
00:19:22.720 He was not wearing a mask.
00:19:24.400 His staffers around him were not wearing a mask.
00:19:26.920 He was asked about the lockdown rules and the masks.
00:19:30.540 He had a great answer.
00:19:31.620 If you get immunized, you ought to act immunized.
00:19:33.960 My view is, is, you know, if you get a vaccine, the vaccines are effective.
00:19:38.720 You're immune.
00:19:39.540 And so act immune.
00:19:40.780 If you tell people the opposite, then gee, you know, why, if it's not effective for them and it's not going to change anything, then what's the point of going through it?
00:19:51.640 Doesn't make much sense, does it?
00:19:54.620 No.
00:19:55.040 And Ron DeSantis, you've got to give this guy credit.
00:19:57.140 He has opened up his state for a year now or something.
00:20:02.340 He opened it up basically before anybody else and stuck to his guns on this.
00:20:07.340 And the state's done very well.
00:20:08.500 It's done a lot better than California, though DeSantis was not the first Republican leader to make this point.
00:20:16.120 Actually, Senator Cruz just was two or three weeks ago.
00:20:19.760 He did not wear a mask to this press conference.
00:20:21.920 And a lot of people around him were wearing those masks.
00:20:23.920 A lot of Republicans around him were wearing those masks.
00:20:25.980 And the reporter said, you need to wear your mask.
00:20:28.260 And he said, I don't think so.
00:20:29.500 I took the shot.
00:20:30.280 Yeah, when I'm talking to the TV camera, I'm not going to wear a mask.
00:20:35.680 And all of us have been immunized.
00:20:37.640 So you're welcome to step away if you like.
00:20:43.880 The whole point of a vaccine, CDC guidance is what we're following.
00:20:48.940 Yeah, you're welcome to step away if you want.
00:20:52.120 But I've been immunized.
00:20:53.900 And so I'm not going to wear that dumb mask.
00:20:55.600 And now Senator Cruz just isn't wearing it anywhere on Capitol Hill.
00:20:58.800 And I think that's absolutely terrific.
00:21:02.980 Where are the rest of the Republican leaders on this?
00:21:05.940 I just, I don't get it.
00:21:08.500 I don't get why the GOP would spend its time sniping right and calling anybody who wants to reduce immigration and have beautiful architecture and acknowledge our political tradition.
00:21:22.340 Call them nativists, insinuate that they're bigots.
00:21:27.180 When you've got the left running roughshod over our political tradition, over our liberties, over our way of life, that it's the wheat from the chaff.
00:21:35.120 You got guys like Cruz.
00:21:36.500 You got guys like DeSantis who stand firm.
00:21:39.100 And then you've got people like Kevin McCarthy.
00:21:41.420 I hope that guy changes his tune real fast because it's pathetic.
00:21:46.740 And he, you know, in the, in the last squish battle, you had Kevin McCarthy versus Liz Cheney, who is probably the worst of the worst in the House of Representatives.
00:21:55.620 And Kevin McCarthy took the more conservative position, defended President Trump, didn't snipe right all the time against Liz Cheney.
00:22:03.660 But now McCarthy seems to be running away.
00:22:05.660 Don't do it, man.
00:22:06.720 It's not too late.
00:22:08.240 Come on.
00:22:08.680 You can grab your spine and stand with the conservatives.
00:22:12.580 It's not too late.
00:22:13.740 I'm not saying we've got to cast Kevin McCarthy into outer darkness, but just come on.
00:22:18.720 You know, we talk a lot about various gender reassignment surgery here and affixing different appendages.
00:22:24.580 Do it.
00:22:25.640 You know, it would be one good use of those sort of, sort of surgeries.
00:22:29.200 The public health dictatorship is not going anywhere.
00:22:35.360 It's not, Dr. Fauci is, is totally honest about this.
00:22:38.240 I rarely would say Dr. Fauci is honest, but he is being honest at least about his, his desire to maintain power.
00:22:48.180 Dr. Fauci goes on TV, people are getting the vaccine, they have access to the vaccine.
00:22:52.760 And he's asked, how long do we have to keep the masks on?
00:22:55.460 And he says, well, you know, just a little while longer.
00:22:57.820 Why does a vaccinated person have to wear a mask?
00:23:03.480 Okay, this is something that as we get more information, it's going to be pulling back that you won't have to.
00:23:09.100 But currently the reason is that when you get vaccinated, you are clearly diminishing dramatically your risk of getting infected.
00:23:18.060 That's one of the things we've got to make sure everybody understands.
00:23:21.440 You dramatically diminish it.
00:23:22.980 However, what happens is that you might get infected and get absolutely no symptoms, not know you're infected,
00:23:31.220 and then inadvertently go into a situation with vulnerable people.
00:23:35.300 And if you don't have a mask, you might inadvertently infect them.
00:23:39.540 Now, there's a small risk of that, but it's there.
00:23:42.620 There's a small risk of that, but it could happen.
00:23:45.660 And so wear the mask, sheep.
00:23:47.840 That's just what he keeps coming back to.
00:23:50.140 He is making it as clear as a dishonest, disingenuous bureaucrat can make it, that they're just not going to let up.
00:23:59.020 They're just going to impose their whims on you forever, forever.
00:24:07.100 Because the principle that we have granted to Dr. Fauci and the other high priests of progressivism
00:24:12.000 wearing the cassock of the lab coat is that, look, our constitutional liberties, our American political tradition,
00:24:20.580 that's all well and good until a cough breaks out.
00:24:23.660 And then all of a sudden, we have to give all of our power to Fauci.
00:24:26.800 So even when Fauci says, okay, you can let up a little bit on the masks,
00:24:31.740 we're still acknowledging that he has the power to impose whatever rules he wants,
00:24:35.260 because he, in his wisdom, recognizes that the most important thing in life is not getting a cough.
00:24:43.280 That is a political revolution.
00:24:45.800 Ben Shapiro is going to be talking about political revolutions today on the real insurrection going on.

00:25:25.520 Be sure to leave a five-star review.
00:25:27.580 If you like what you hear, we'll be back with a lot more.
00:25:42.960 Dr. Fauci says even if you've been vaccinated, you've got to keep your mask on
00:25:48.620 because there's a very, very infinitesimally small chance
00:25:52.820 that even though you're immune to coronavirus, you could carry it and infect somebody else.
00:25:59.040 Do you see the problem though with his logic here?
00:26:02.340 The vaccine is available to just about everybody.
00:26:07.260 We can all get the vaccine.
00:26:09.160 I have not gotten the vaccine.
00:26:11.220 Many of my friends have gotten the vaccine.
00:26:15.080 It's not that I have not gotten the vaccine because it's not available to me.
00:26:18.820 It is available to me.
00:26:20.560 I've made a calculation of my risk from the coronavirus.
00:26:25.260 The data and the science show I'm not particularly at risk.
00:26:29.080 So I just don't see any need to get it.
00:26:31.020 I don't get the flu shot either.
00:26:32.620 Just I don't, I don't worry about that kind of thing too much.
00:26:36.360 Not, it's not at the top of my priority list.
00:26:38.760 Okay.
00:26:39.000 So Dr. Fauci is now telling people that even if they've gotten the vaccine, they need to wear a mask
00:26:46.000 to protect me because I haven't received the vaccine.
00:26:49.520 So I could still be infected if they're carrying it.
00:26:52.640 But I'm here to tell you, Dr. Fauci, don't do it on my account.
00:26:57.180 Don't do it for me, buddy.
00:26:59.380 Obviously, I don't worry too much about that.
00:27:02.500 That's why I haven't gotten the vaccine.
00:27:03.980 So if the vaccine is available to everybody, this excuse that we've got to continue to mask
00:27:09.860 and lock down and, and upend our whole culture for the poor people who, who might be infected by
00:27:15.900 it, it falls apart.
00:27:18.340 The vaccine is available, but he doesn't want to let up on this because he doesn't really care
00:27:23.560 about our political traditions and our political liberties, as he told Joy Reid on MSNBC the other
00:27:28.300 night.
00:27:29.080 Congressman Jordan mentioned the people of Ohio.
00:27:32.820 I care very much for the people of Ohio.
00:27:34.860 I don't want to see them get sick or die because we have 560,000 Americans that have
00:27:40.560 died so far.
00:27:41.400 So we're looking at it from different perspectives.
00:27:44.020 I'm looking at it from a public health perspective.
00:27:46.560 And he was talking about the infringement upon liberties.
00:27:49.780 Right now, what we need to do is get this pandemic behind us.
00:27:53.400 And we will do that.
00:27:54.540 And it will not be an indefinite period of time.
00:27:58.580 It will not be an indefinite.
00:28:00.320 It'll be two weeks to slow this, bro.
00:28:02.460 Whoops.
00:28:03.260 Oh, I forgot.
00:28:04.500 I forgot it's been a year.
00:28:07.060 Give me a break.
00:28:08.600 It won't be indefinite.
00:28:10.000 It'll just be however long I want it to be, says Dr. Fauci.
00:28:14.920 I love, too, the way he poses this.
00:28:17.120 He says, look, it's just two different perspectives.
00:28:21.240 Jim Jordan, he's looking at it from the perspective of our, of the law and civil liberties and our
00:28:27.120 political tradition and our whole culture.
00:28:28.480 But I'm looking at it from the perspective of public health.
00:28:32.220 And it's such a demagogic way to put it.
00:28:35.620 But what he's, what he's really saying, Fauci, the reason he's confident enough to say this
00:28:39.240 is that he knows that the American political tradition and our liberties are politically
00:28:46.060 incorrect now and that the cult of public health is the ascendant religion in America, the cult
00:28:52.120 of secular progressivism, where bureaucrats make all the rules for us, like eggheads such
00:28:57.460 as Dr. Fauci make all the rules for us.
00:28:59.540 So he knows that he's going to win that if it's really just a battle between those competing
00:29:03.920 values.
00:29:05.100 But I don't think these are irreconcilable values.
00:29:08.300 I think that everything we do in life involves some kind of risk.
00:29:11.880 And the risk now from coronavirus with a vaccine out there, the risk now is, you could not find
00:29:18.240 that risk with the smallest, most high powered microscope in the entire world.
00:29:22.960 That is how infinitesimally small that risk is compared to plenty of other things that we
00:29:26.420 do all day long.
00:29:27.060 We get in our cars, we walk across the street.
00:29:30.140 And so in that prudential judgment, that risk calculation you've got to make, it's not even
00:29:36.440 close.
00:29:37.840 But Dr. Fauci doesn't want to bring words like prudence into this, or he doesn't want to
00:29:41.640 acknowledge the legitimacy of our political rights in this country to govern ourselves
00:29:45.760 because look, he's just trying to keep us all safe.
00:29:48.220 Just trying to keep us all safe.
00:29:49.580 Come on, man.
00:29:51.960 It's not going to be indefinite.
00:29:53.380 You know, I got to tell you, I'm looking around, not just in our country, but countries around
00:29:57.900 the world.
00:29:58.260 It, it kind of looks like it's going to be indefinite.
00:30:01.340 I'm looking up in Canada right now.
00:30:03.700 Canada has essentially declared a public health regime that will suspend all political rights
00:30:12.320 that in any way contradict the caprices and whims of the experts.
00:30:18.540 We have implemented the strictest measures in all of North America.
00:30:24.500 And the difficult truth is, every public health measure we have left comes with a massive
00:30:31.760 cost to people and their lives.
00:30:35.740 But we have never shied away from doing what's necessary.
00:30:39.220 We have made the deliberate decision to temporarily enhance police officers' authority
00:30:44.720 for the duration of the stay-at-home order.
00:30:47.620 Moving forward, police will have the authority to require any individual who is not in a place
00:30:53.560 of residence to first provide their purpose for not being at home and provide their home address.
00:31:01.200 Police will also have the authority to stop a vehicle, to inquire about an individual's reason
00:31:06.700 for leaving their residence.
00:31:08.180 And our inspectors will also be ensuring that those who absolutely must come to work
00:31:13.160 are strictly following the public health measures.
00:31:16.720 For our employers and employees, take note.
00:31:20.580 This is your last warning.
00:31:23.060 This is the vision of the future.
00:31:27.340 Eggheads sitting in ill-fitting suits with their glasses on, perfectly straight face saying,
00:31:36.700 hey, listen, society, this is your last warning.
00:31:41.680 Stay imprisoned in your home or we will arrest you because of the cough that we said was only
00:31:49.720 going to be a worry for two weeks, a year ago.
00:31:52.000 If you do not comply with our every whim, your life will be ruined and your political order
00:31:59.580 has already been ruined because we now run the show.
00:32:03.280 You think that can't happen here?
00:32:04.720 It requires such an ignorance of not just ancient history, but really the last 12 months to believe
00:32:18.200 that what's going on in Canada right now cannot or even likely will not come to the United States.
00:32:24.960 Every political measure that we have been promised, two weeks to slow the spread,
00:32:34.300 just got to flatten that curve, just got to find the cure.
00:32:37.880 Every single promise that these people have made to us, they have broken.
00:32:42.940 Every timeline they have given us has failed.
00:32:46.680 It has only gotten more intense, more draconian.
00:32:53.940 Looking around at the Anglo-Saxon peoples, you know, England, Australia, New Zealand, Canada,
00:33:03.540 United States, look what our friends around the Anglosphere are doing.
00:33:08.240 You don't think that's going to come here?
00:33:10.340 The only way it doesn't come here is if we fight back very hard.
00:33:14.780 If we exert all the political leverage that we have, it's already coming here.
00:33:20.960 It's actually already coming here.
00:33:22.580 Did you see what's coming out of Oregon right now?
00:33:25.600 Oregon is instituting a permanent mask order.
00:33:30.180 Michael Wood, who is the administrator of the state's Department of Occupational Safety and Health,
00:33:36.600 said that it is necessary to make a permanent, quote, permanent mask rule
00:33:43.020 to keep current restrictions from expiring.
00:33:48.020 And Michael Wood said, we're not out of the woods yet.
00:33:52.420 Michael Wood says that it's like, it's so on the nose.
00:33:55.260 It's so cartoonish.
00:33:58.280 And yet that's what we're getting.
00:33:59.800 Oregon won't be, won't be the last state to try something like this.
00:34:02.940 They might be the last state to succeed, but they might not be the last.
00:34:05.880 They very likely won't be the last state to try something.
00:34:07.840 I have spoken to putatively conservative public health officials who have, I've said, hey,
00:34:15.000 are we ever going to get rid of these dumb masks, these filthy, undignified masks?
00:34:20.620 And they'll tell me, well, you know, Michael, look, coronavirus, that'll go away at a certain
00:34:24.280 point.
00:34:24.680 But, you know, look, it's kind of gross.
00:34:27.020 Can you imagine we were all flying on airplanes in the past without masks?
00:34:31.700 I can't imagine that.
00:34:33.140 I do that every time the stewardesses aren't looking.
00:34:35.180 I take the mask down.
00:34:35.880 And yes, I can imagine that because I'm a human being and I don't want to muzzle myself
00:34:40.100 because I have some modicum of self-respect or at least respect for our civilization.
00:34:48.420 But you guys don't.
00:34:50.280 They surely don't have any, any respect for us.
00:34:54.560 So the left is going to keep this up and try to make this permanent.
00:34:57.520 But don't, don't think that that is going to impose order on society.
00:35:02.480 Don't think that just because they're going to exert a lot of control and lock everybody
00:35:06.780 down.
00:35:07.260 And in Canada, they're going to threaten to arrest people if they leave their homes.
00:35:09.800 Don't think that's going to make a more orderly society.
00:35:11.880 It's going to make a more chaotic society because while the left locks down law abiding
00:35:16.880 Americans who respect our political tradition, the left is also going to be permitting and
00:35:21.980 even encouraging radicals and terrorists to go out in the streets and commit political
00:35:27.720 violence.
00:35:28.120 That's exactly what Maxine Waters just did.
00:35:30.820 She instructed her followers to riot if Derek Chauvin, the cop in Minneapolis, is not convicted
00:35:40.440 of murder, which is a very difficult case to make.
00:35:44.280 There's really no evidence he committed murder.
00:35:47.200 And if he is not convicted, Maxine Waters says, burn the country down.
00:35:52.160 We have been fighting for so many years for reform, reform, reform.
00:35:57.580 And so, yes, I would like to see the bill in Congress pass on police reform.
00:36:03.940 But I know that the right wing, the racists are opposed to it.
00:36:08.900 And I don't know what's going to happen to it.
00:36:11.160 But I know this.
00:36:12.500 We've got to stay in the street.
00:36:14.140 And we've got to, we've got to demand justice.
00:36:17.180 We're looking for a guilty verdict.
00:36:20.580 We've got to stay on the street.
00:36:22.240 And we've got to get more active.
00:36:24.900 We've got to get more confrontational.
00:36:27.380 We've got to make sure that they know that we need business.
00:36:31.620 There it is.
00:36:32.680 There's that confrontational.
00:36:35.460 So Maxine Waters has already in the past gotten in trouble for saying, she hasn't gotten in
00:36:40.520 real trouble.
00:36:41.300 She's just gotten a few bad headlines, but she never has actually held to consequence.
00:36:44.280 She says, when you see Republicans, when you see people in this administration, you get
00:36:48.800 in their face, you mob on them, you get up on, you go to their homes, right?
00:36:52.180 So she's already saying that.
00:36:53.640 What happened last year?
00:36:56.800 People who tend to support Maxine Waters burned down the country, burned down private businesses,
00:37:03.180 burned down government buildings, coast to coast.
00:37:06.940 And now Maxine Waters is saying, we need to get more confrontational.
00:37:11.960 More confrontational?
00:37:13.160 What, what is more confrontational than that?
00:37:16.540 Are you going to start releasing biological weapons?
00:37:18.860 Are you going to start detonating nukes?
00:37:20.520 Hard to get more confrontational than burning the country down.
00:37:23.560 But that's what Maxine Waters is going to call for.
00:37:26.480 And it's okay.
00:37:27.420 Coronavirus isn't going to spread during those riots.
00:37:29.700 Remember, that is what the liberal establishment told us last year.
00:37:32.680 At the height of the coronavirus panic, at the height of the hysteria, a bunch of radical
00:37:39.280 leftists led by Black Lives Matter and Antifa went out into the streets and we were told,
00:37:45.820 no, that's fine.
00:37:46.420 That doesn't spread coronavirus.
00:37:48.780 Actually, it's good.
00:37:49.740 There was a letter signed by over a thousand public, public health officials, whatever that
00:37:54.440 means, saying that, that if you went out to protest white supremacy, that was actually helping
00:38:02.240 the coronavirus mitigation effort because you see white supremacy is a lethal public health threat.
00:38:08.880 Meaningless words that are merely used as instruments to exert one's will, totally unreasonable will.
00:38:20.040 The Anglo-Saxon political tradition tends to frown on street violence.
00:38:26.640 The Anglo-Saxon tradition from which we get our political tradition, it tends to not look so kindly
00:38:32.920 on criminals running roughshod over the law in the streets.
00:38:37.160 Maxine Waters loves criminals and street violence.
00:38:41.580 She loves it.
00:38:42.000 She's encouraging it.
00:38:42.840 And she's been encouraging it for a long time.
00:38:45.620 Which way are you going to go, America?
00:38:47.580 Those, those are the two choices.
00:38:50.560 And it's, it's not even enough that the street criminal side of the political question is winning.
00:39:00.000 It's that even the putatively conservative Republican leaders are giving cover to the street violence
00:39:08.840 people and attacking their own side.
00:39:11.360 That they'll, you know, they'll fight back a little bit.
00:39:14.060 They'll try to against the street violence people.
00:39:17.300 But really, they spend most of their energy going after the people who want to conserve that
00:39:22.320 political tradition.
00:39:24.700 The left is not even content overthrowing the, the whole political order.
00:39:31.860 Obviously, they want to do that.
00:39:33.040 They've wanted to do that for a long time.
00:39:34.240 They've written extensively about that.
00:39:36.600 The left wants to overthrow nature itself.
00:39:40.240 There's a line that Kennedy used to quote, John F. Kennedy.
00:39:44.040 He would say, this is supposed to be a great inspiration.
00:39:46.060 He'd say, some people see things that are and say, why?
00:39:49.420 I dream things that never were and say, why not?
00:39:53.220 And he acknowledged he got this line from George Bernard Shaw.
00:39:55.580 What he didn't know is that the, the line from Shaw comes from this play cycle back to
00:40:00.700 Methuselah.
00:40:01.320 And the line actually comes from the mouth of the serpent tempting Eve in the Garden of Eden.
00:40:05.540 The line that, that Shaw is giving here that Kennedy is quoting, and a lot of Democrats
00:40:10.300 have quoted since then, is the, the language of the devil.
00:40:13.940 We need total delusion.
00:40:16.860 We need to embrace delusion.
00:40:18.180 Well, that is what the left is doing in human nature, not just among consenting adults, but
00:40:22.860 even among children in a really disturbing case out of Texas.
00:40:29.500 There's a 10 year old boy in Texas.
00:40:32.060 He just spoke before the Texas state Senate.
00:40:37.240 He spoke to them regarding bill 1646.
00:40:40.540 This is a bill that acknowledges that it is child abuse to chemically castrate children
00:40:46.380 and give them trans sex hormones and mutilate their bodies to make little boys look more
00:40:51.060 like little girls.
00:40:53.000 So this little boy testifies before the committee.
00:40:58.620 I hesitated even to play this clip, but it's, it's really out there.
00:41:04.460 It's obviously very, very public already.
00:41:06.320 I'm going to, I'm going to blur the kid's face and I'm not going to refer to the kid's
00:41:10.120 name because his mother is obviously abusing him.
00:41:17.080 Listen to his testimony to see how far the country's gotten.
00:41:22.400 Hello, my name is, um, I love ballet, math, science, and geology.
00:41:28.840 I spend my free time with my cats, chickens, FaceTiming my friends, and dreaming of when
00:41:34.300 I will finally meet Dolly Parton.
00:41:37.120 I do not like spending my free time asking adults to make good choices.
00:41:42.460 I've been having to explain myself since I was three or four years old.
00:41:49.120 Texas legislators have been attacking me since pre-K.
00:41:51.760 Okay, I am in fourth grade now.
00:41:55.640 When it comes to bills that target trans youth, I immediately feel angry.
00:42:01.000 It's been very scary and overwhelming.
00:42:04.920 It just, it makes me sad that some politicians use trans kids like me to get votes from people
00:42:11.660 who hate me just because I exist.
00:42:13.860 God made me, God loves me for who I am, and God does not make mistakes.
00:42:21.220 My mom has been giving everything she has to stand up for me.
00:42:24.520 Wow, there, and there it is.
00:42:26.060 You can listen to the, you can listen to the rest of this if you want to.
00:42:30.000 I suspect you don't.
00:42:31.700 But you hear that line, my mom has been so wonderful, and there, there it is.
00:42:36.640 If you didn't already know from the first part of this, that this poor little boy is being
00:42:42.060 horrifically abused by his mother, you get it there.
00:42:45.660 I don't believe that the boy came up with these lines on his own.
00:42:49.600 Of course he didn't.
00:42:51.460 And this rehearsed sort of caricature of what a woman is that he is performing,
00:42:59.820 I don't think this was an invention of his own.
00:43:03.100 I think this was put into his head, obviously.
00:43:04.900 The idea that he's been trying to convince adults of, of reality since he was three years
00:43:10.960 old is obviously not true.
00:43:12.640 Three-year-olds don't convince anybody of anything because three-year-olds don't know
00:43:15.360 anything because they're, they're very little, does that, does that still count as a toddler?
00:43:20.300 I don't know.
00:43:20.720 I don't, I'm not really familiar with all the various designations.
00:43:23.780 You're a very, very little kid when you're three years old.
00:43:25.840 And this kid's pervert mother decided that she wanted to have a little daughter instead
00:43:31.840 of a little son.
00:43:33.160 And so she dressed him up like a little daughter and now, and now she has him trotted out protesting
00:43:40.040 a law that would prevent him from being mutilated and castrated.
00:43:44.580 That woman should be in prison.
00:43:47.940 She should not be permitted around children ever.
00:43:50.240 However, a just society would, would acknowledge that and codify that into law.
00:43:58.120 But we no longer have the ability to do that because on the left, you've got them actively
00:44:05.280 pushing for this stuff to trans the kids and cast straight little boys.
00:44:10.280 And on the right, the, the best that we can muster is, well, you know, not until he's 18.
00:44:17.100 Well, you know, look, I might not agree with it, but you know, look, it's freedom, you know,
00:44:22.360 well, you know, that's the, that's basically the best that I'm not talking about you people
00:44:27.660 who listen to this show.
00:44:29.040 I'm not talking about our friends here who obviously have a more sophisticated view of
00:44:33.520 this, but I'm talking about the Republican leadership.
00:44:36.860 Broadly speaking, they don't want to get into it.
00:44:39.160 They just want to let the left run roughshod over the culture, even if it means mutilating
00:44:42.700 little boys.
00:44:44.900 Freedom.
00:44:45.180 We would have a freer country if that kid's mother were in prison and people like her.
00:44:52.860 We would have a freer country if we recognized limits to vice and licentiousness and evil,
00:45:00.460 evil acts like castrating little kids.
00:45:02.820 If we, if we took freedom, if we took the, the ability of these people to do these sorts
00:45:08.780 of things away from them, we would have a freer country because liberty of course requires
00:45:15.060 limitations and licentiousness and liberty are not synonyms, but we're not, not allowed
00:45:19.220 to acknowledge limits anymore.
00:45:21.080 George W. Bush, former president George W. Bush just came out.
00:45:25.880 He's got a new book out about immigrants and he painted all these pictures of immigrants
00:45:29.020 and he said, America, we've got to be nicer to immigrants.
00:45:31.620 Do you want to be involved in the immigration discussion?
00:45:34.340 Yeah, I do in a way, in a way.
00:45:35.660 I don't want to be prescriptive.
00:45:36.980 I don't want to, you know, tell Congress how to do this or that.
00:45:39.180 I do want to say to Congress, please put aside all the harsh rhetoric about immigration.
00:45:44.180 Please put aside trying to score political points on either side.
00:45:47.360 And I hope I can help set a tone that is more respectful about the immigrant, which may lead
00:45:55.440 to reform of the system.
00:45:57.780 That's it, you know, and at this point, the host cuts in and says, you know, you, President
00:46:02.760 Bush, you'll remember what you used to say, all these wonderful things on immigration.
00:46:07.080 She plays the clip.
00:46:08.240 You gave an Oval Office address on immigration.
00:46:11.400 I did.
00:46:12.260 These are not contradictory goals.
00:46:14.220 Because America can be a lawful society and a welcoming society at the same time.
00:46:20.680 There it is.
00:46:21.480 And so there, there is the line, right?
00:46:23.040 And he says, that's right, I did.
00:46:24.520 That's right.
00:46:25.160 You got me.
00:46:26.780 The meaning of that, of course, is that if you can be a lawful society and a welcoming
00:46:32.580 society, what he's really saying is we can, through the law, massively expand our immigration
00:46:37.820 system.
00:46:38.560 Yes, of course, that's what Democrats want to do.
00:46:40.220 And that's what liberal Republicans want to do.
00:46:42.220 But my question is, can we be a lawful society and be a little bit less welcoming?
00:46:48.560 That's what, that's what the immigration restrictionists want to do.
00:46:52.120 Because right now we take in about 2 million people a year, way, way, way, way more than
00:46:56.340 any other country on earth, way, way, way more than we can handle.
00:46:59.320 You can see the culture crumbling all around us because of these problems of diversity without
00:47:04.040 any unity, diversity without any assimilation.
00:47:06.980 So can we just maybe cool it down a little bit like the majority of Americans want to
00:47:11.120 do?
00:47:11.940 Are we allowed to do that?
00:47:13.540 And the answer, of course, according to these guys, according to George Bush and according
00:47:17.540 to the Democrats, is no.
00:47:19.300 Some, some Democrats now are trying to pass this around saying, look, even George W. Bush
00:47:22.940 holds a liberal position.
00:47:24.460 Yes, the Bush family has represented the liberal wing of the Republican Party since 1952.
00:47:29.500 You have Jeb, who says illegal immigration is an act of love.
00:47:33.020 You have George W. Bush, who says he's a compassionate conservative, more compassionate than whom?
00:47:36.900 George H. W. Bush says he wants a kinder, gentler conservatism.
00:47:40.140 Kindler, gentler than whom?
00:47:41.880 Ronald Reagan was the implication.
00:47:43.420 And Prescott Bush, the, the grandfather is a former U.S. senator who was the first treasurer
00:47:49.160 of Planned Parenthood.
00:47:50.120 They've always represented the liberal wing.
00:47:52.720 Can we have a conservative voice anywhere, anywhere, the GOP, anywhere?
00:47:56.660 This new caucus that some congressmen were going to make.
00:47:59.800 Can we have it anywhere in this country?
00:48:01.880 I hope so.
00:48:02.620 I think we can take our political rights back in our political tradition, which derives
00:48:06.840 from an Anglo-Saxon tradition.
00:48:09.040 I don't think that it is inevitable that we be governed by sort of neoliberal progressive
00:48:15.160 Republicans like George W. Bush or by progressive technocrats like Dr. Fauci.
00:48:20.740 I think there is a chance that we can take our political rights back, apply reason and govern
00:48:26.580 ourselves.
00:48:28.300 But who's going to support us in that effort?
00:48:30.240 Or are we perhaps going to have to do it ourselves?
00:48:32.580 I'm Michael Knowles.
