The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 839 - The American Taliban

00:00:00.000 After 130 years, a famous statue of Robert E. Lee has fallen in Richmond, Virginia.

00:00:06.980 The great general, one of the most important figures not only in the Civil War,

00:00:10.600 but also in bringing the country back together after the Union Army won,

00:00:15.080 will be hidden away in storage for the foreseeable future.

00:00:18.440 And while the Libs celebrate the demise of General Lee, we are left to ask ourselves a simple question.

00:00:24.260 Is America a better place now that the statue has been torn down?

00:00:28.900 Has any American's life improved?

00:00:32.320 Is it possible even that America is actually a worse place because of this desecration?

00:00:38.200 Is it possible that, I don't know, maybe there's a reason that we might all be missing right now

00:00:43.740 as to why the statue was put up in the first place?

00:00:45.880 No, it couldn't be.

00:00:47.360 Just like the Taliban, the Libs will tear down the historical monument and get ready to destroy the next one. 0.99

00:00:54.200 I'm Michael Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles Show.

00:00:58.100 Welcome back to the show.

00:01:04.320 My favorite comment yesterday is from the Scoundrels Cantina, who says,

00:01:08.200 A heartbeat on Earth is not life, but bacteria on Mars is.

00:01:13.720 So say the Democrats.

00:01:14.840 That's true.

00:01:15.260 They do say that because they were doing anything they can to deny that a life is a life.

00:01:20.140 So now they're denying that a heartbeat is a heartbeat.

00:01:21.740 They will go to any length to avoid seeing what is plainly in front of them.

00:01:27.880 Now, if you don't want other people to see what you're up to on the Internet,

00:01:30.680 I would strongly recommend you check out ExpressVPN.

00:01:33.240 The asymmetries of power between big tech and us are historic, okay?

00:01:39.720 This sort of thing has never been seen before in history.

00:01:42.620 It's so much worse than even you think it is.

00:01:45.800 To fight back against big tech's control of the Internet, I use ExpressVPN.

00:01:49.560 When you use ExpressVPN on your computer or on your phone,

00:01:53.160 you anonymize much of your online presence by hiding your IP address.

00:01:56.660 That makes your activity much more difficult to trace and sell to advertisers.

00:02:00.920 ExpressVPN encrypts 100% of your network data to protect you from eavesdroppers and cyber criminals.

00:02:07.160 It takes just one click to protect all of your devices.

00:02:11.400 That's why ExpressVPN is rated number one by CNET.

00:02:14.340 Now, I do not go online anymore without ExpressVPN.

00:02:19.040 It's so easy to use.

00:02:20.440 I don't really need to think about it.

00:02:22.040 And it just prevents people from snooping on you.

00:02:25.620 So let's stop allowing big tech companies to revoke our rights to free speech.

00:02:28.800 Why not revoke their right to your data instead?

00:02:30.740 Secure your Internet with the VPN I trust for online protection.

00:02:42.660 That's ExpressVPN.com slash Michael right now to learn more.

00:02:46.820 President Trump is being excoriated for his statement on the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue.

00:02:54.160 Oh, Robert, the historians are making fun of him.

00:02:57.740 Everyone's calling him a racist. 1.00

00:02:59.800 He's being called an idiot. 1.00

00:03:01.640 Well, here's what he said. 1.00

00:03:02.760 Just watched as a massive crane took down the magnificent and very famous statue of Robert E. Lee on his horse in Richmond.

00:03:08.300 It has long been recognized as a beautiful piece of bronze sculpture.

00:03:11.200 To add insult to injury, those who support this taking now plan to cut it into three pieces

00:03:16.000 and throw this work of art into storage prior to its complete desecration.

00:03:21.100 Robert E. Lee is considered by many generals to be the greatest strategist of all.

00:03:24.260 President Lincoln wanted him to command the North, in which case the war would have been over in one day.

00:03:29.500 I love this.

00:03:30.480 Just look, he's a great general. 0.98

00:03:31.860 Okay, folks, not like those other crappy generals. 0.76

00:03:34.180 Robert E. Lee instead chose the other side because of his great love of Virginia. 0.89

00:03:38.520 And except for Gettysburg, would have won the war.

00:03:40.480 He should be remembered as perhaps the greatest unifying force after the war was over.

00:03:44.340 Ardent in his resolve to bring the North and South together through many means of reconciliation

00:03:48.380 and imploring his soldiers to do their duty in becoming good citizens of this country.

00:03:52.900 This is a very important point.

00:03:55.100 And Trump is absolutely 100% correct here.

00:03:58.620 Okay, and of course he won't get credit for saying it, but it's very important.

00:04:03.220 Just like Chesterton's fence, people should be very careful about tearing down these Civil War monuments.

00:04:10.760 Chesterton's fence, this idea, I'm oversimplifying a little bit, but the idea that when a reformer

00:04:15.760 walks into the middle of a field and sees a fence there and he has no reason, no understanding

00:04:20.880 as to why the fence might be there, and he says, we're going to tear it down, the wise thing

00:04:24.820 to do is to say, no, no, no, you can't tear it down.

00:04:26.700 First, you have to understand why it was put up in the first place.

00:04:30.080 Then, and only then, should you consider whether or not you want to tear it down.

00:04:35.560 The same goes for these Civil War monuments.

00:04:37.460 Why are these being put up in the first place?

00:04:39.380 Is it just because Robert E. Lee is this great, wonderful American?

00:04:44.520 Well, in many ways, he was a wonderful American.

00:04:46.700 He was a very good general.

00:04:48.820 Lincoln did want him to fight for the North, but he didn't because he had this love of Virginia.

00:04:53.780 But that last point there, I think, might be the most important.

00:04:57.400 He was among the most important figures after the war to bring the North and South back together

00:05:05.320 and reform America.

00:05:07.540 He was very important for that.

00:05:08.840 And when President Lincoln called for malice toward none and charity for all, this is what

00:05:15.580 he's talking about.

00:05:16.560 The South, much to the left's consternation, is part of America.

00:05:23.360 I live in the South now.

00:05:24.660 I'm a good old Southern boy.

00:05:26.940 This is part of the country.

00:05:28.780 The left wishes it were not part of the country, but it is.

00:05:31.800 So either you're going to live together, you're going to love one another, you're going to

00:05:37.160 recognize that this is a fallen world and there are going to be bad things that happen in this

00:05:42.560 world, but we're just going to move on together and try to pursue the good and try to avoid evil.

00:05:46.500 Or you can tear down everything and tear down your fellow Americans and preen and stand on the 0.99

00:05:53.140 shoulders of giants and pretend that you're flying.

00:05:55.380 And that's what's going on here.

00:05:57.720 And it's not going to end with Robert E. Lee.

00:05:59.200 As Trump called it four years ago, he said, they're not just going after Robert E. Lee.

00:06:03.240 They're going to tear down Jefferson and Washington.

00:06:04.940 And everyone laughed at him.

00:06:05.780 And then two seconds later, they're tearing down Jefferson and Washington.

00:06:10.240 This is Taliban style stuff. 1.00

00:06:13.060 We whine and cry and rend our garments because the Taliban blow up Buddhist statues in Afghanistan.

00:06:19.140 They're doing the same thing here.

00:06:20.820 Not the Taliban, the American left. 0.71

00:06:22.460 They're tearing down our statues.

00:06:24.240 They're tearing down our monuments.

00:06:25.620 They're tearing down our history.

00:06:27.080 That's what's happening.

00:06:28.860 Speaking of the Taliban, you know, there's been a lot of talk because of this abortion law in

00:06:34.580 Texas about the Texas Taliban.

00:06:37.020 It's this is terrible to women there. 0.82

00:06:39.060 It's just what's the difference between Texas and Afghanistan?

00:06:42.120 The better comparison is to the libs.

00:06:44.580 OK, not just because the libs are tearing down all our statues and burning down the country 0.97

00:06:49.840 and committing vigilante terrorist violence, but also because they are very difficult to understand.

00:06:59.080 They're incoherent.

00:06:59.840 And Donald Trump was on Greg Gutfeld's show and he was describing his interactions with

00:07:05.200 the Taliban.

00:07:06.620 It's very difficult to deal with these people because they're they're pretty hard to understand.

00:07:12.060 OK, so I told you about Abdul.

00:07:13.520 Yeah, he's tough.

00:07:14.280 And when I first spoke to him by phone, I said, nice to speak to you by phone, Abdul.

00:07:19.900 And he goes, you know, they're ferocious people.

00:07:23.620 You know, like you go to Broadway shows, they fight.

00:07:26.060 They like to fight.

00:07:26.740 They've been fighting for about a thousand years.

00:07:28.460 Show me the lie.

00:07:31.240 Show me the lie.

00:07:32.300 There was a journalist, Aaron Rupar at Fox dot com, and he was very upset about this.

00:07:37.060 And he tweeted out, Trump suggests Taliban leaders communicate in primitive grunts and

00:07:43.500 groans.

00:07:44.820 I think instead of the word suggests, he meant to say observes this plain fact that's before

00:07:49.680 all of our eyes.

00:07:52.300 This is how to think about the Taliban.

00:07:54.500 Trump has got it right.

00:07:55.400 OK, because I've seen some wild reactions here.

00:08:01.660 Some people on the right, because of how awful our culture has gotten, some people have on

00:08:06.680 the right on the right have said, oh, you know, the Taliban, they're painting over the

00:08:10.220 George Floyd mural.

00:08:11.040 That's not so bad.

00:08:11.740 I mean, they get they get a few things right.

00:08:13.380 Not even a stop clock, right.

00:08:15.660 The libs are very conflicted about their feelings toward the Taliban because they hate America.

00:08:22.540 So they love America's enemies.

00:08:24.300 But the Taliban are this regressive, traditionalist Islamic culture. 0.99

00:08:30.780 So they don't know if they can quite like that.

00:08:34.240 What what Trump understands that the libs don't is that different peoples are different.

00:08:43.940 Different cultures are different.

00:08:46.320 With what the libs believe is that the Taliban are basically just sort of misunderstood or they

00:08:52.820 just they just don't have enough iPhones or, you know, which they actually do have iPhones

00:08:57.020 and they're posting memes to Twitter.

00:08:59.040 They just don't have enough jobs.

00:09:01.300 They don't have enough McDonald's.

00:09:04.080 If they had more McDonald's, then they would they would act just like us.

00:09:09.360 I mean, Barack Obama said this.

00:09:10.780 He said the reason that there are problems in the Middle East is they don't have enough

00:09:13.300 money and gadgets and gizmos and, you know, modern Western dress and movies.

00:09:19.060 That's not it.

00:09:20.400 It's not.

00:09:20.980 I know it's difficult for Western libs to understand this right now because they don't believe in

00:09:26.140 anything that all they're after is just making money and pleasuring themselves. 0.99

00:09:29.960 But people actually do have beliefs and they act on those beliefs.

00:09:34.400 And we in the West used to have that, too.

00:09:37.020 And we first really went up against the East and the Muslims when the Muslims tried to invade 0.98

00:09:42.380 Europe and we repelled them.

00:09:43.620 This is going back to 732 that the Battle of Poitiers, also called the Battle of Tours.

00:09:48.660 And then a few centuries later, you see this in the Crusades, a clash of two different

00:09:53.100 cultures, both of whom really believe in something, both of whom really are willing to die for

00:09:58.440 something, for a belief, for their understanding of God.

00:10:01.400 And now there's a lot of revisionist history that's trying to figure out any sort of reason

00:10:06.340 that the Crusaders might have gone to war, whether it was for money, whether it was for land,

00:10:11.800 other than the one that's obvious, that they actually believed in something.

00:10:16.100 But we can't understand that in the West anymore.

00:10:19.520 We can't understand that cultural difference.

00:10:21.480 Trump does.

00:10:22.620 He says, yeah, I talked to these guys.

00:10:23.940 It was like, whoa, whoa, whoa.

00:10:25.660 He's making fun of them.

00:10:27.240 He's describing them as a sort of savage type of person who is not civilized in the way that

00:10:32.440 the West is civilized.

00:10:33.520 He's right.

00:10:34.580 He's right.

00:10:35.460 As he often is, he's right.

00:10:36.840 Though there's not a ton of civility going on here in the West these days either.

00:10:40.620 As you may have noticed, Larry Elder is running for governor of California in the recall

00:10:45.120 election.

00:10:45.520 So he's walking through some neighborhood in California and a lady in a gorilla mask throws 1.00

00:10:52.940 an egg at him.

00:10:55.980 You see Larry walking down.

00:11:00.060 Larry's walking down.

00:11:01.140 There we go. 0.97

00:11:02.300 White lady in a gorilla mask throws an egg at him. 0.99

00:11:05.440 She's on a bike. 0.98

00:11:05.980 Then she punches one of Larry's body guys. 1.00

00:11:16.780 There's Newsom's California for you.

00:11:19.320 A beautiful place.

00:11:21.380 Then another kooky guy.

00:11:22.840 And then they're throwing more stuff.

00:11:23.920 So then they put, they put Larry in the car.

00:11:28.160 They drive away.

00:11:30.220 This is like a campaign commercial for Larry Elder.

00:11:32.940 Here, here's California under Newsom.

00:11:35.200 Elect literally anybody else.

00:12:47.940 A white lib. 0.86

00:12:49.600 She seemed white.

00:12:50.440 I don't know if she's white or Hispanic or so. 0.99

00:12:52.500 She seemed kind of fairer skinned. 0.96

00:12:55.120 A lib in a gorilla mask just threw an egg at Larry Elder. 0.99

00:13:00.460 Larry Elder, you see, is the black face of white supremacy. 0.96

00:13:04.760 That's the line from the LA Times. 0.82

00:13:07.960 And, you know, he's not just a sort of amiable libertarian black guy from South Central. 0.98

00:13:12.720 No, he's the far right, radical, white supremacist black guy. 0.99

00:13:18.320 And that's why political violence is justified to stop him. 0.99

00:13:22.160 That's what the left is implying.

00:13:24.220 And that's what they're perpetrating against him right now.

00:13:26.780 I'm not even going to say it.

00:13:28.200 You know what every reaction to this is?

00:13:31.180 Well, if the roles were reversed, if the situation were reversed.

00:13:35.120 Yeah, we all know that.

00:13:36.140 The problem here is that the hypothetical doesn't do us any good.

00:13:42.320 We know that there are different standards here.

00:13:44.840 I mean, they're willing to call Larry Elder a white supremacist.

00:13:48.520 The positive takeaway from this should be when they call you a racist, just who cares?

00:13:53.740 Who cares?

00:13:54.040 It doesn't mean anything.

00:13:55.340 Don't let it get to you, man. 1.00

00:13:57.060 Wear it as a badge of honor to be called a racist by some dishonest idiot lib. 1.00

00:14:01.640 It means you've won the argument. 1.00

00:14:03.200 It means they fear you and they fear Larry Elder.

00:14:07.960 Do you know other white supremacists I just found out about is Shapiro. 0.98

00:14:12.020 Ben is a white supremacist.

00:14:13.100 I didn't know that.

00:14:14.760 Last I checked, the white supremacists, not so hot on the chosen people, but there was

00:14:20.520 a meme that was going around listing Ben as a white supremacist.

00:14:24.560 I said, okay, this has got to be from some far left radical group, probably some group that

00:14:28.640 doesn't have any power, right?

00:14:30.540 It's the Center for Progress and Advancement and Antifa and, oh no, it's from Google.

00:14:36.620 It's from Google, the most powerful company on earth.

00:14:39.800 Google is holding a quote unquote anti-racist training for its employees and it claims that

00:14:44.500 there's a direct link between Ben Shapiro and mass murder.

00:14:50.260 There's a graphic, it's called the White Supremacy Pyramid.

00:14:56.080 It shows that at the bottom of the pyramid, this is the sort of broadest level of white 1.00

00:15:02.780 supremacy, is the phrase all lives matter.

00:15:06.300 That's white supremacy. 0.99

00:15:07.420 So if you say that white people shouldn't just be summarily executed, you're a white supremacist. 0.99

00:15:15.020 So all lives matter, you're beginning, then you move up to Ben. 0.95

00:15:20.940 Ben is right above that, that's on minimization.

00:15:24.220 That's the white supremacy thing and some other guys next to him whom I don't know.

00:15:27.740 Now, then two spots up, you see Trump and then, I don't know, some other people of violence 0.79

00:15:35.420 and then mass murder.

00:15:36.400 So Shapiro, I do, look, I'm not saying that Ben is totally innocent, okay?

00:15:42.280 He does have murder in his heart every time he looks at me, but otherwise, I don't think

00:15:46.840 he's a very violent guy.

00:15:48.240 He's a sort of mild-mannered Orthodox Jew, generally not welcomed by the skinheads.

00:15:54.280 This is what we're up against and we can, we're laughing about it, it's funny.

00:15:59.020 Google has more power than just about any institution in the country.

00:16:05.520 I would say the government sort of has more power, but Google and the government are not

00:16:09.240 so easily separated.

00:16:10.380 Google and the government own multiple properties together.

00:16:13.820 Google, in many ways, is part of the government.

00:16:16.860 They're the enforcement arm.

00:16:18.920 They're a proxy for the government to do the government's dirty work very often.

00:16:24.280 The, the disparities of power are unprecedented right now.

00:16:30.120 Google's power compared to the power of the American people is, is so radically greater.

00:16:37.120 I don't think there's any comparison in history.

00:16:39.580 They control our speech.

00:16:41.740 They control our behavior in some ways.

00:16:43.460 They know every single thing about us.

00:16:44.920 They know more about us than we know about ourselves.

00:16:46.540 And they run the government.

00:16:51.120 And they're calling some people mass murderers.

00:16:53.820 So what happens? 0.78

00:16:54.760 What happens if you are successfully labeled a white supremacist, a mass murderer, a genocidal 0.99

00:16:59.620 maniac? 0.98

00:17:00.640 You can very easily be censored, ostracized, or have violence committed against you.

00:17:05.940 That's the point.

00:17:07.560 It's, it would be defensive.

00:17:09.360 The implication here from the Google slide is that if you kill Ben Shapiro, it's self-defense

00:17:17.320 because Ben Shapiro's leading to mass murder.

00:17:20.820 It, it only followed, they, they won't come out and say it outright, but that's the inevitable

00:17:26.080 implication.

00:17:29.140 And Ben is a stand-in for you and me.

00:17:31.540 Ben is, he's pretty mainstream, right?

00:17:33.700 There, there are people who are to the right of Ben Shapiro, many of them, all of those people.

00:17:39.400 Absolutely not permitted in the public discourse.

00:17:44.180 Now, there is a little, you're getting a little bit of pushback.

00:17:47.240 The, the left is getting so aggressive that even people who are generally liberal, some

00:17:54.360 of them are beginning to feel a little uncomfortable.

00:17:55.760 I'm, I'm thinking in particular of the, a cardinal of the Archdiocese of Washington.

00:18:01.940 So this is Joe Biden's Catholic cardinal, cardinal, the guy who is sort of responsible for Washington,

00:18:09.660 DC, Cardinal Gregory.

00:18:11.900 Cardinal Gregory is pretty liberal as far as Catholic prelates go.

00:18:20.460 Cardinal Gregory famously, infamously attacked Donald Trump while he was president for going

00:18:27.860 to visit a Catholic shrine.

00:18:29.580 He was offended that, that Donald Trump went to visit the shrine of St. John Paul II.

00:18:36.560 That's, that's how liberal and left this cardinal is.

00:18:40.460 And yet even this cardinal has finally broken his silence on Joe Biden's formal heresy on

00:18:48.600 abortion.

00:18:49.300 Last week, President Biden said he did not agree that life begins at conception.

00:18:54.740 Were you surprised to hear that?

00:18:56.760 And can you clarify the church's teaching on when life begins?

00:19:02.860 The Catholic church teaches and has taught that life, human life begins at conception.

00:19:11.580 Uh, so the president is not demonstrating Catholic teaching.

00:19:16.660 Okay.

00:19:17.160 Um, now among the theologians, uh, there's all kinds of medical issues about when does conception

00:19:29.300 take place?

00:19:30.540 When is it at implantation?

00:19:33.160 Is it, uh, at some point when the sperm and the ovum come together and, and, and create a

00:19:42.300 new, uh, reality?

00:19:45.220 Uh, and, and, and theologians have debated that and continue to debate that.

00:19:49.780 Oh my goodness gracious. 0.97

00:19:51.440 As respectfully as I possibly can, I've got to point out here, Cardinal Gregory is doing

00:19:57.300 everything he can, everything he possibly can to defend Joe Biden's indefensible heresy.

00:20:03.660 So he's saying, well, Joe Biden is not demonstrating Catholic teaching.

00:20:11.780 You mean he's a heretic?

00:20:13.200 You mean he's, he's renouncing his faith?

00:20:16.820 He's not practicing his religion?

00:20:18.800 Well, yes, though there is debate over when conception takes place.

00:20:25.140 Even if that were the case, that's not what's at issue here.

00:20:29.680 We're talking about six week abortion laws.

00:20:32.700 We're talking about heartbeat bills.

00:20:34.620 Regardless of whether you want to parse the nuances of whether conception is when the, the

00:20:42.260 new baby implants, which it's not, or when the sperm and the ovum come together to create

00:20:48.480 a new reality, also known as a human life, uh, which it is.

00:20:53.520 Regardless of that, fine.

00:20:55.060 You have that debate.

00:20:55.960 That's fine by me.

00:20:56.480 That's completely irrelevant.

00:21:00.100 No one, no one is suggesting right now that, uh, we should permit abortion before implantation,

00:21:07.500 but, but not after implantation.

00:21:10.260 So you, after the, after the sperm and the egg come together, you can, no, none of that

00:21:14.480 is, is on the table.

00:21:15.880 We're talking about a heartbeat.

00:21:17.960 And what Joe Biden is saying is explicitly, he said, I do not believe that life begins

00:21:22.960 at the moment of conception.

00:21:24.840 So regardless of where you say the moment of conception is, it doesn't matter.

00:21:28.040 Biden is regardless engaging in formal heresy, but he doesn't want to do it.

00:21:31.980 The new reality, it's a euphemism to me.

00:21:34.000 It's a human being.

00:21:34.880 It's a human being.

00:21:35.540 And even, I don't mean to go after Cardinal Gregory too much here.

00:21:38.400 I'm glad that he is articulating the church's plain teaching on this to our heretic president,

00:21:43.160 the second man who at least pretends to be a Catholic, even though he's not a practicing

00:21:47.420 Catholic, but I wish he were clearer about it.

00:21:51.600 I wish he weren't even giving Joe Biden that much wiggle room.

00:21:54.240 It's, he doesn't deserve that much wiggle room.

00:21:55.880 It's not true.

00:21:57.000 It's not just.

00:21:59.640 And if the church cannot speak out clearly on life, it can't speak out on anything at

00:22:04.960 all.

00:22:05.180 That's why Cardinal Gregory is saying, yes, Biden is not, not going along with Catholic teaching

00:22:10.040 here.

00:22:10.740 Right.

00:22:11.140 So let's try to change that.

00:22:14.080 Let's, let's not beat around the bush.

00:22:16.100 Okay.

00:22:16.520 Now, among all of these various debates, does it begin at the fertilization?

00:22:22.840 The implantation is, where does it begin?

00:22:25.780 All of the people who are debating this are still less confused than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

00:22:33.800 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is demonstrating the most delightful tension of this abortion debate. 0.99

00:22:42.140 Namely, the left pretends that men can get pregnant, but the left also demagogues abortion

00:22:48.860 as a women's issue and pro-life as an example of the patriarchy, which can't exist because 1.00

00:22:54.160 men and women are no longer to be distinguished, except when it's convenient for the left.

00:22:58.520 Are you confused?

00:22:59.200 Me too.

00:22:59.540 Now, if you want to be able to sleep a little bit better, be able to think a little more

00:23:05.240 clearly, wrap your head around these things with a good night's sleep, I strongly recommend

00:23:08.880 you check out BioOptimizers.

00:23:13.020 Okay.

00:23:13.280 Come into my bedroom because I sleep like a baby.

00:23:17.500 You, you might not sleep like a baby.

00:23:19.640 You might be having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep.

00:23:22.500 Well, one of the best things you can possibly do to start getting enough sleep is to start

00:23:27.360 getting enough magnesium.

00:23:28.920 Unfortunately, most magnesium supplements use only the two cheapest synthetic forms.

00:23:33.600 Since they're not full spectrum, they will not fix your magnesium deficiency or help

00:23:37.240 you sleep better, which is why I recommend Magnesium Breakthrough by BioOptimizers.

00:23:42.480 Simply take two capsules before you go to bed.

00:25:22.380 You can get it on Amazon.

00:25:36.600 You can order it.

00:25:37.700 I appreciate everyone who has done that.

00:25:39.440 I'm glad that we're bringing Bill Buckley back to being a bestseller 70 years later.

00:25:43.600 We'll be right back with a lot more.

00:25:53.240 This pro-life bill in Texas is anti-woman. 0.99

00:26:00.620 It's a bunch of men saying that women can't kill their children.

00:26:05.400 And so it's anti-woman, except for the men who can get pregnant, because they can, and 0.96

00:26:16.140 the women who are men.

00:26:21.860 AOC, can you explain, please?

00:26:24.780 None of this is about supporting life.

00:26:26.600 What this is about is controlling women's bodies and controlling people who are not 1.00

00:26:34.820 cisgender men. 0.52

00:26:36.160 This is about making sure that someone like me, as a woman, or any menstruating person

00:26:42.020 in this country cannot make decisions over their own body.

00:26:46.120 And people like Governor Abbott and Mitch McConnell want to have more control over a woman's body 1.00

00:26:52.040 than that woman or that person has over themselves.

00:26:54.820 Hold on, wait, is it a woman's body or a menstruating person's body? 0.98

00:26:58.580 Or it's a woman or a person, and it's the men who, first of all, in the spirit of reconciliation

00:27:03.220 and compromise, I'm willing to make a deal right now with AOC.

00:27:08.440 Any menstruating person who wants to get an abortion, I'm fine with that. 1.00

00:27:13.140 That's fine.

00:27:13.540 If you are a person right now who is menstruating and you want to get an abortion, that's fine. 0.98

00:27:19.340 That's fine by me.

00:27:20.600 That's fine.

00:27:21.000 So, you know, generally speaking, people who are menstruating are not pregnant.

00:27:28.000 I don't, you know, AOC, I thought she would know the fundamentals of biology here, at least

00:27:32.660 the real, but apparently not that even.

00:27:35.320 But I can, I'm happy to enlighten people.

00:27:37.500 When you are pregnant, you stop menstruating.

00:27:39.740 That's how it goes.

00:27:40.520 So that's fine.

00:27:41.120 There we go.

00:27:41.540 There's my carve out.

00:27:42.900 Okay.

00:27:43.480 Menstruating people can have abortions. 0.98

00:27:44.780 Also, menstruating person seems a little sexist to me, doesn't it? 1.00

00:27:48.420 Men-struating per sons?

00:27:51.800 How about women-stru- 1.00

00:27:53.340 Actually, better than women-struating. 0.96

00:27:55.020 How about woke-person-stru-

00:27:58.380 How about son?

00:28:00.440 How about woke-

00:28:01.440 How about whopper-daughter-struating per daughters?

00:28:04.980 Hmm?

00:28:05.580 How about that, AOC?

00:28:06.540 I see your woke language, and I raise you a whopper-daughter-struating per daughters. 0.91

00:28:13.680 Hmm.

00:28:15.020 Take that. 0.98

00:28:16.580 A very, very silly, crazy stuff. 0.96

00:28:19.340 And Anderson Cooper has to pretend that this is serious, by the way. 0.68

00:28:23.040 Now, the, what's funny about it, of course, is that you have these two ideas that are in

00:28:29.760 conflict with one another.

00:28:30.680 The idea that men and women are not different at all, that men can become women, women can

00:28:37.020 become men.

00:28:37.480 There's no difference.

00:28:38.080 A woman needs a man like a fish, needs a bicycle. 1.00

00:28:39.740 And the idea that women are this special class of victims, and they're oppressed by men, and

00:28:44.320 you've got the oppressor and the oppressed, and you can't change that, and it's just an

00:28:47.200 eternal fact of society.

00:28:49.020 And people notice that these things are in conflict.

00:28:51.480 You see the same type of conflict in the debate between homosexuality and transgenderism.

00:28:57.640 Homosexuality says that men are men, and women are women, and some boys like 0.99

00:29:00.560 other boys, and some girls like other girls, and you're born this way, and there's nothing 0.94

00:29:03.820 you can change about it.

00:29:05.060 And transgenderism says, actually, there's not even any such thing as boys and girls.

00:29:08.420 Boys can be girls, and girls can be boys, and men can be women.

00:29:11.720 And so, if you were to apply the logic of transgenderism to homosexuality, then you would 0.93

00:29:18.780 lose the idea that you're born this way, and you can't change it.

00:29:21.580 Because not only can you change your sexual desires, but you can change your sex itself. 0.70

00:29:24.960 So, the solution then to homosexuality, and the question that used to be asked, which

00:29:28.640 is, who would choose this?

00:29:29.420 Who would choose to be born this way?

00:29:31.040 Would be, oh, well, just change it.

00:29:32.540 You're a boy who likes other boys, well, now just, you know, be a boy that likes girls,

00:29:36.920 or be a girl that likes boys.

00:29:38.440 But you can just change it, because it's all fluid, right?

00:29:41.400 Or, if you were to apply the logic of homosexuality to transgenderism, you would lose the entire 0.87

00:29:46.040 concept of transgenderism.

00:29:47.340 People are pointing this out as, maybe this will be the moment that the left comes undone

00:29:51.320 by its own illogic.

00:29:52.400 It won't, it won't.

00:29:54.960 Because it actually, it all kind of goes back to second wave feminism. 1.00

00:29:59.820 When second wave feminism says a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle, there's 1.00

00:30:02.800 no difference between men and women. 0.76

00:30:04.300 The only difference is some people have long hair or something.

00:30:08.060 Some people wear skirts.

00:30:09.760 What they're saying is that man equals woman.

00:30:13.620 They are exactly the same, indiscernible.

00:30:16.960 So, if man equals woman, that leads naturally to the homosexual rights movement, and even 0.95

00:30:24.760 to gay marriage, because if there's no difference between men and women, then, of course, men

00:30:28.440 should marry men, and women should marry women. 0.99

00:30:30.540 The word marriage would be redefined just by that very premise.

00:30:33.840 And if there's no difference between men and women, then, of course, a man can become 0.96

00:30:36.560 a woman, and a woman can become a man, because those categories don't mean anything. 0.54

00:30:40.720 So, unfortunately, it actually does sort of make sense.

00:30:43.900 The reason that when you listen to AOC, she's getting a little tongue-tied, and she sounds 0.98

00:30:49.800 a little bit like the Taliban, doesn't she? 0.92

00:30:51.200 Oh, and the person, and the woman, and the...

00:30:54.660 The reason she's doing that is because her argument doesn't have logic to it.

00:30:59.940 It's just grunts.

00:31:01.180 It's just interest.

00:31:02.820 It's just desire.

00:31:04.300 It's not anything logical.

00:31:07.360 But that's our politics these days.

00:31:10.760 Unfortunately, some so-called conservatives are a little confused on sex and gender and

00:31:17.280 abortion as well.

00:31:18.860 Notably, Bruce Jenner, who is now running...

00:31:21.200 I guess he's still running for governor of California.

00:31:24.620 And Mr. Jenner goes on CNN, and he's asked about his opinion on abortion.

00:31:29.200 And he talks out of both sides of his mouth.

00:31:35.060 I am for a woman's right to choose. 0.90

00:31:37.900 I am also for a state having the ability to make their own laws.

00:31:43.480 And so I support Texas in that decision.

00:31:48.400 That's their decision.

00:31:50.560 I'm OK with that.

00:31:52.520 But as far as being a woman's right to choose, I don't see any changes in our laws in California 0.55

00:31:58.920 in the future.

00:32:00.380 But you're fine with the Texas law, even though you say that you support abortion rights.

00:32:05.180 You are fine with a law that essentially outlaws abortion.

00:32:08.240 I think they have the right in their state to do what they want to do.

00:32:14.320 Now, do I agree with the decision or not?

00:32:16.880 No, to be honest with you, I actually probably do not agree with the decision.

00:32:20.780 But I agree with they have the right to make their own decision.

00:32:24.880 Now, I actually like this answer.

00:32:27.800 I don't agree with this answer, but I like this answer.

00:32:30.120 Because what Jenner has done here is flip the usual Democrat mealy-mouthed answer on its 0.98

00:32:36.600 head. 0.57

00:32:36.920 The Democrat mealy-mouthed abortion answer from putative fake Catholics like Mario Cuomo

00:32:44.040 or Joe Biden, at least in previous years, is, listen, I personally do not support abortion.

00:32:53.420 But I would not force my opinion on the people.

00:32:56.820 So politically, I support abortion.

00:32:59.060 But personally, I do not support abortion.

00:33:01.800 And what Jenner has done here, it's actually quite clever, is he says,

00:33:05.820 personally, I do support abortion.

00:33:09.060 But I would never force my views on the people of Texas.

00:33:11.840 I support democracy.

00:33:12.940 I support their right to make their own laws.

00:33:14.880 I love it.

00:33:15.440 It's a clever little argument.

00:33:17.180 Now, much like the Democrats' argument, ultimately, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

00:33:22.200 It makes enough sense in that Jenner is a Californian, and she's talking,

00:33:25.680 you see how difficult this is?

00:33:27.960 He's talking about people in Texas.

00:33:30.280 But what he's also pointing to here is federalism, is subsidiarity, is the idea that it's not

00:33:38.620 only that the government, the federal government has rights, and it's not only that the people

00:33:42.020 have rights, but the states have rights too.

00:33:44.420 And we forget that a lot, especially as we tear down statues of Robert E. Lee.

00:33:48.220 We'd certainly forget that a lot, that the states do have, they don't have unlimited rights.

00:33:52.960 They don't have the rights to do anything they want, but they do have some rights.

00:33:56.280 And it seems to me the people of Texas have the right to pass their own laws on abortion.

00:33:59.940 And it seems the same to Bruce Jenner.

00:34:02.000 It seems the same to me, someone who opposes abortion, and to Jenner, who supports abortion.

00:34:07.980 That's a big tent.

00:34:09.780 That's about as big tent a party as I can see.

00:34:12.060 Some other putative conservatives, mainstream conservatives, seem to be confused.

00:34:19.140 The View always has some, at least nominal conservative on the panel.

00:34:24.340 The View is that gaggle of liberal women, and they have one woman, at least, who's at least 1.00

00:34:29.180 sort of kind of conservative.

00:34:31.320 And so Meghan McCain was filling that spot for a while. 1.00

00:34:34.160 Meghan left the show.

00:34:35.420 Now they're bringing in new people.

00:34:37.040 So Mia Love, who was being talked up in recent years as a major Republican figure, 0.79

00:34:42.820 oh gosh, she could run for president, that sort of thing. 1.00

00:34:45.100 She goes on The View, and she offers up what I'm sure The View producers consider to be

00:34:52.700 the arch-conservative position on abortion and life and the sexual revolution.

00:35:00.560 Namely, just pump women full of birth control. 1.00

00:35:03.480 I think it's false choices.

00:35:05.900 They're giving women false choices. 1.00

00:35:08.080 This is what frustrates me about government.

00:35:10.320 Instead of actually taking care of the story from the beginning, they're trying to pick

00:35:14.720 up broken pieces, and they're making it worse.

00:35:16.980 Why not try and empower women? 1.00

00:35:18.840 Why not giving them more options when it comes to their reproductive health? 1.00

00:35:23.300 Like providing over-the-counter contraceptives, birth control pills, instead of condoms, and

00:35:28.680 plan B. I mean, I am pro-life.

00:35:33.560 I've always been pro-life with the exception of rape, incest, and the life of a mother.

00:35:38.040 I don't think government should be going into families when it comes to making a decision

00:35:42.600 about such important issues and personal issues that are damaging to women.

00:35:48.980 So here's what I think.

00:35:50.620 Why not treat women like assets that can be developed instead of liabilities that need 1.00

00:35:55.820 to be managed?

00:35:57.120 Not sure I understood all of that word salad, but I think she's right in the first part, 0.82

00:36:01.980 which is this is about false choices.

00:36:04.460 I think this is exactly about false choices.

00:36:06.720 I think The View is giving its audience false choices here between liberals and people who

00:36:15.340 sort of pretend to be conservative.

00:36:16.860 I don't think the conservative view on abortion is that we need to pump women full of contraception

00:36:24.640 and only kill 1% of babies.

00:36:28.100 I think the conservative view on abortion is, and forgive my radicalism here, that we shouldn't

00:36:37.480 kill any of the babies and we should encourage life and the openness to life and stable relationships

00:36:44.640 and marriage and monogamy and a stable society with the stable fundamental political element 1.00

00:36:54.380 of the society, which is the family.

00:36:55.980 I think, I think that would be the conservative argument, not what we're getting from The View.

00:37:03.960 But this, it just reminds me, anytime I tune into a show like The View, it reminds me that

00:37:11.520 so much of our politics is just fake.

00:37:15.480 It's just a show.

00:37:16.480 It's just pretend.

00:37:19.200 It is a liberal regime with a few court jesters, the court jester conservatives whose job it is

00:37:28.060 to provide the appearance of opposition when in fact what they do is they serve to legitimize

00:37:34.940 the liberal regime.

00:37:36.140 Phyllis Schlafly, a great American conservative woman, famously called in the 20th century for a 1.00

00:37:42.440 choice, not an echo.

00:37:45.360 I'm pro-choice in that regard.

00:37:47.620 I want there to be a choice between liberals and conservatives, not just between liberals

00:37:52.200 and slightly less liberals.

00:37:54.140 Okay?

00:37:54.460 I want an actual choice here.

00:37:57.900 And when The View presents this argument as the wide choice between a liberal and a conservative,

00:38:05.500 when actually they have the same premises, the same basic ideas about life, about the sexual

00:38:11.640 revolution, about the family, about individual autonomy, they agree on everything basically.

00:38:16.060 They just agree, they just disagree on how many babies should be killed and they disagree

00:38:20.900 on how much we should promote contraceptives. 0.66

00:38:26.960 No one is suggesting we promote life, really, just some saying, well, maybe we should kill fewer

00:38:32.200 people.

00:38:33.240 That's not a choice.

00:38:34.740 And that's, there was an interesting character, Curtis Yarvin, went on Tucker Carlson's show,

00:38:39.840 on his Fox Nation show yesterday, and Curtis Yarvin is a more radical right-wing thinker.

00:38:46.420 I've read a bit of his stuff, and he makes the same point, actually, that so much of our

00:38:51.760 politics is just kind of fake.

00:38:53.540 We think that the real battle of our government is between Trump and Biden, when in fact, the

00:39:00.020 president himself has relatively very little power, even compared to presidents 100 years

00:39:05.480 ago, that the actual political fights are sort of hidden, and they don't really change.

00:39:11.340 That actually, actually, the fight, the political battles that we're seeing on The View, that's

00:39:16.780 not, that's not really what's going on, because they're all within the dominant regime.

00:39:22.580 Speaking of squishy conservatives, President Trump is set to endorse the opponent of Liz Cheney

00:39:28.320 in the next congressional election.

00:39:32.560 No surprise here, there's no love lost between Trump and Cheney, and so he's, I think he's

00:39:38.480 going to endorse Harriet Hageman, who's a Wyoming attorney.

00:39:43.020 She's going to primary Cheney.

00:39:45.200 It brings me to a point that people brought up.

00:39:47.200 I mentioned it, too, when Cheney was being ousted from leadership.

00:39:50.880 People pointed out that Liz Cheney actually has a relatively conservative voting record 1.00

00:39:59.740 in Congress.

00:40:00.840 Not perfect, but she was relatively conservative.

00:40:03.280 We would, we would generally agree with her voting record in Congress, more so even than

00:40:08.260 the woman who replaced her in Republican leadership, which is a little bit of a problem. 1.00

00:40:12.760 But on this decision to primary Liz Cheney or to support the primary challenger, what we're

00:40:18.720 really talking about here is not your opinion on tax cuts, not even your opinion on abortion,

00:40:23.160 you know, or your opinion on immigration.

00:40:26.140 It's about whether you're a real conservative in practice, in effect.

00:40:32.560 Are you, at the crucial moments, going to stand up for half the country, for the, for traditional

00:40:40.240 Americans, or at the crucial moments, are you going to cave?

00:40:45.700 And are you going to defend Nancy Pelosi?

00:40:47.620 And are you going to be her prop and clown for, for instance, the January 6th commission?

00:40:52.940 That the problem with Liz Cheney, like Romney and others, is at the crucial moment, they 0.77

00:40:57.600 cave.

00:40:58.360 They're good 90% of the time, but at the crucial moment, well, the crucial moment is when we

00:41:02.720 need you.

00:41:06.540 Speaking of Republicans who sometimes go a little squishy, there's some good news out of the GOP

00:41:13.120 up in South Dakota.

00:41:14.980 Republican Governor Kristi Noem has just signed an excellent executive order on abortion.

00:41:21.340 Now, Kristi Noem hit the national circuit during the coronavirus lockdowns because she wouldn't 1.00

00:41:26.960 lock down her state.

00:41:27.820 So everyone really liked her and she is an attractive woman and she's articulate.

00:41:32.340 And so people started talking about her as a potential presidential candidate. 0.99

00:41:36.080 I know now you're not allowed to mention that Kristi Noem is attractive. 0.99

00:41:39.060 Matt Walsh did that and she like yelled at him for it and called him a sexist.

00:41:42.260 But it's true, she is attractive and that's one of the reasons people talked her up. 0.97

00:41:46.540 Then she started to go a little squishy.

00:41:48.660 There was a transgender bill that went before her desk.

00:41:51.900 It was a simple bill that said, don't let men compete in women's sports.

00:41:55.260 Seems simple to me.

00:41:56.660 And she wouldn't sign it.

00:41:57.900 She wouldn't sign it, presumably because her corporate donors called and threatened her

00:42:01.020 and she caved.

00:42:02.260 I don't know that for a fact, but that seems to be what happens.

00:42:04.940 A similar thing happened to Asa Hutchinson down in Arkansas, Republican Governor there.

00:42:08.580 Okay, so that's too bad.

00:42:09.540 That really makes me doubt that she could be a strong national leader.

00:42:13.140 Then when she went after Walsh in this very lib way of saying, you're a sexist. 0.94

00:42:18.160 Look, my eyes are up here. 0.99

00:42:19.380 You know, I just thought, okay, that's pathetic. 0.96

00:42:20.860 You know, give me a break. 0.97

00:42:22.460 So now I think Noem realizes that she's losing her conservative support.

00:42:28.260 The whole thing that brought her up to become a national figure.

00:42:32.780 She's lost that because she's presumably caving to special interests in South Dakota.

00:42:37.920 So now she's going right wing again. 0.93

00:42:39.720 She just signed an executive order banning telemedicine abortions in South Dakota. 0.93

00:42:45.380 The order directs the South Dakota Department of Health, quote, to establish rules preventing

00:42:49.380 telemedicine abortions in South Dakota.

00:42:51.400 It restricts chemical abortions in the state.

00:42:53.720 It says that abortion drugs can only be prescribed or dispensed by a physician after an in-person

00:42:59.960 examination from a physician licensed in South Dakota.

00:43:02.900 It blocks receiving abortion drugs in the mail.

00:43:07.800 It prevents abortion drugs from being dispensed in schools or on state grounds.

00:43:11.660 And it reiterates that licensed physicians must ensure informed consent laws.

00:43:17.940 Okay, this is good stuff.

00:43:19.520 I like it.

00:43:20.320 I know, you know, sometimes conservatives, they spend more time attacking each other than

00:43:26.000 they do attacking the left.

00:43:27.240 And I get it, especially when conservatives are out of power.

00:43:29.180 There's some jockeying.

00:43:29.880 There's a question of what is the vision here that it has to be done.

00:43:33.360 But something we really admire about the left or that we're impressed by, at least, is that

00:43:38.000 the left knows how to circle the wagons.

00:43:39.520 The left knows how to come together at the crucial moment and do things.

00:43:42.180 And the right doesn't do that as well.

00:43:44.720 So to this, I say, good job, Kristi Noem.

00:43:47.600 This is good.

00:43:48.040 I like it.

00:43:48.440 Good stuff.

00:43:48.960 Other governors should follow suit.

00:43:50.560 Glad to see it.

00:43:51.760 If Kristi Noem went a little squish for a while, the pressure was tough, you know, okay,

00:43:55.000 that's too bad.

00:43:55.900 Let's move on.

00:43:56.820 Let's get better.

00:43:57.360 And don't do that again.

00:43:58.020 And maybe let's just be more conservative.

00:44:00.820 She sees what side the bread is buttered on, okay?

00:44:03.100 And let's keep more of this.

00:44:05.060 I love it.

00:44:05.720 Other governors should copy what Governor Noem did here.

00:44:10.640 Now, speaking of murder in various states in the northern part of America, Kamala Harris,

00:44:17.740 you'll recall, during the George Floyd riots, not only encouraged people to riot in the streets,

00:44:22.920 not only gave spiritual and political support to these rioters and arsonists and looters

00:44:30.000 and killers, but she gave financial support as well.

00:44:33.000 She posted around the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which is a fund to bail out violent people who

00:44:39.300 were arrested for rioting.

00:44:41.540 And she posted this around.

00:44:42.620 Joe Biden's staff members did the same thing.

00:44:44.180 Okay.

00:44:46.340 The Minnesota Freedom Fund just posted bail, posts bail for a lot of criminals, not just

00:44:52.160 the ones associated with the George Floyd riots, including 47-year-old George Howard,

00:44:56.340 who was being held on domestic assault charges.

00:44:58.760 Okay.

00:44:58.900 So, Kamala Harris says, support this jailbreak fund.

00:45:03.780 The jailbreak fund bails out this wife beater, George Howard.

00:45:08.180 Now, according to Minneapolis police, George Howard has just shot and killed 38-year-old

00:45:14.480 Luis Damian Martinez-Ortiz during a road rage incident in Minneapolis.

00:45:19.540 Surveillance video shows Ortiz and Howard getting into an altercation on an on-ramp.

00:45:23.480 And then this guy that Kamala Harris bailed out just killed this other guy, 38 years old,

00:45:28.940 had his whole life in front of him.

00:45:31.540 That, she's not going to get any pushback for it and no mainstream outlets, I suspect,

00:45:36.680 are going to report on it or very, very few, but you'll hear it here.

00:45:41.500 Someone is dead today because of these jailbreak movements.

00:45:49.180 Jailbreak movements that are not only supported in general by Democrat politicians, some Republican

00:45:53.340 politicians too, I'm sorry to say, but that are supported specifically by them.

00:46:00.120 This is how Democrats stop crime. 0.75

00:46:02.440 They break out wife beaters so that the wife beaters can go shoot people on the street. 1.00

00:46:06.700 In San Francisco right now, they've got a new method to try to reduce crime because crime

00:46:10.780 is through the roof in San Francisco.

00:46:12.560 You thought it was bad that some Californian threw an egg at Larry Elder.

00:46:15.800 Stuff is really bad in San Francisco.

00:46:17.840 So the new attempt to reduce crime is not my, now look, I'm not an expert on criminology,

00:46:25.200 but my suggestion would be arrest the criminals and keep them in jail for a long time and for 0.99

00:46:30.180 the ones who commit capital offenses, kill them. 1.00

00:46:32.420 That's my suggestion. 1.00

00:46:33.860 Okay, maybe I'm, maybe I'm a little thick. 1.00

00:46:36.560 I'm a little stupid. 0.98

00:46:37.160 I don't, I don't, I, I'm not such a genius that I could pursue what they're doing in San 1.00

00:46:42.120 Francisco, which is to pay the criminals.

00:46:46.780 San Francisco, they're going to pay criminals $300 a month not to shoot people.

00:46:53.780 If you don't, if you don't shoot people in San Francisco, you can make $300 a month.

00:47:00.180 I, I promise not to shoot anyone in San Francisco, not just now, but ever.

00:47:06.640 Okay, I promised.

00:47:07.760 Where is my check?

00:47:09.500 Am I going to get my check?

00:47:11.740 I don't think this is going to work.

00:47:14.620 One, I don't think it's going to work for me to get the check.

00:47:16.420 And two, I don't think this is going to work to reduce crime.

00:47:19.300 I think that the left is getting this just totally, totally backwards here.

00:47:24.780 And I think that crime is going to shoot through the roof and we're now subsidizing

00:47:29.760 criminals apparently.

00:47:31.120 I think statues are going to be torn down.

00:47:33.280 I think our elections are not going to be considered fair.

00:47:37.000 Neither side has faith in the elections right now.

00:47:41.160 We talk about the mean old Taliban over there in Afghanistan. 0.96

00:47:46.960 That worries me.

00:47:48.400 It worries me more to see these kinds of things going on here.

00:47:51.660 The sheer control, the capriciousness, the whims of the regime.

00:47:57.700 And we, what, what do we have to fight back against it?

00:48:01.420 I think we still have a little bit of time, but not so much.

00:48:03.780 It's running out.

00:48:04.200 I'm Michael Knowles.
