Ep. 878 - Terry McAuliffe Is A Traitor Insurrectionist

Summary

Glenn Youngkin has won in Virginia, and the Libs are not taking it well. Is it because he worshipped at the altar of Donald Trump on Fox News? Or because he didn t try to distance himself as much as possible from Trump?

00:00:37.700 The Republican, Glenn Youngkin, has won in Virginia.
00:00:43.180 And the libs are not taking it well.
00:00:46.300 I think we know the answer to some of this.
00:00:48.580 I watched Glenn Youngkin's interviews on Fox News, and he did nothing but Claire's.
00:00:52.480 He did not, I mean, he worshipped at the altar of Donald Trump on Fox News.
00:00:56.980 He flew an insurrection flag at his rallies.
00:00:59.920 He simply didn't, he played dumb about a Zoom rally.
00:01:04.620 He did not really put much distance between himself and Donald Trump on the big lie or the deadly insurrection in which police officers were maimed by flagpoles.
00:01:14.780 So I think that the real ominous thing is that critical race theory, which isn't real, turned the suburbs 15 points to the Trump insurrection endorsed Republican.
00:01:32.240 What do Democrats do about that?
00:01:34.100 So not a single thing that that woman said there is true.
00:01:39.840 Not a single thing, with one exception.
00:01:43.900 Critical race theory, dot, dot, dot, turns the suburbs, dot, dot, dot, 15 points to the dot, dot, dot Republican.
00:01:53.740 I'm Michael Knowles.
00:01:54.500 This is the Michael Knowles Show.
00:02:03.300 Welcome back to the show.
00:02:04.680 My favorite comment yesterday is from Eddie Gesch, who says,
00:02:08.300 Education is not supposed to be about making people feel comfortable in school.
00:02:12.600 It's about educating them.
00:02:13.680 Yes, this was the final campaign salvo from Terry McAuliffe, the now vanquished former governor of Virginia and former future governor of Virginia.
00:02:22.360 Terry McAuliffe said, we're going to fire white teachers because black people don't feel comfortable with white teachers, which I don't think is true to begin with.
00:02:30.180 But second of all, yes, you're right.
00:02:31.940 Education is not about feeling comfortable.
00:02:33.780 Or if it is, it's about comfort in the true meaning of that word, giving you strength.
00:02:38.420 You know, the idea of the bio tapestry, you got Bishop Odo smacking his own retreating men with a club, and it says, here, Bishop Odo comforts the boys.
00:02:46.200 That's, yeah, we got to give you strength.
00:02:47.880 And sometimes that is a little bit tough.
00:02:51.340 And we, I think we just taught a tough lesson to Democrats in Virginia.
00:02:54.760 You know, when you want to protect not just your state, your country, but your identity, I would recommend you check out LifeLock.
00:03:03.780 In the era of COVID-19, scams and hoaxes have really proliferated, haven't they?
00:03:09.640 Including tech support scams, which are surging to the top of the list of internet scam threats.
00:03:14.900 They're designed to trick you into believing something is wrong, and then they seek to steal your personal information, tap your bank account, or install dangerous software on your device.
00:03:24.360 It's very important to understand how cybercrime and identity theft are affecting our lives.
00:03:28.140 LifeLock helps detect a wide range of identity threats, such as your social security number for sale on the dark web.
00:03:35.420 If they detect your information, they will send you an alert.
00:03:38.820 No one can prevent all identity theft or monitor all transactions at all businesses, but you can keep what's yours with LifeLock Identity Theft Protection.

00:03:59.240 That woman from MSNBC, Nicole Wallace, she said that Glenn Youngkin, he worshipped at the altar of Trump.
00:04:07.660 That's not true.
00:04:08.420 He tried to distance himself as much as possible from Trump because he thought Trump was going to hurt him in the race.
00:04:13.260 He flew an insurrection flag at his rally.
00:04:16.380 He didn't, what insurrection?
00:04:17.400 Oh, she's referring to the Confederate flag.
00:04:20.620 Did Glenn Young?
00:04:21.120 I don't think Glenn Youngkin flew.
00:04:22.380 Oh, you're talking about the Democrat operative who we got on camera speaking into a little microphone,
00:04:27.700 who wore a brand new printed and ironed on Confederate flag right in front of the press and who didn't get away with the stunt.
00:04:36.400 Okay, so that part wasn't true as well.
00:04:38.960 What else did she say about him, that he played dumb about a tele-rally?
00:04:44.560 Oh, yeah, Donald Trump supported Glenn Youngkin in the race, but Glenn Youngkin didn't even show up to the tele-rally where Donald Trump called in,
00:04:52.280 where Glenn Youngkin supported a deadly insurrection.
00:04:56.520 Oh, you're talking about the January 6th thing that wasn't deadly.
00:04:59.300 That was a total lie from the New York Times and the Washington Post.
00:05:02.300 Even they had to admit it.
00:05:03.360 And by the way, I don't think Glenn Youngkin even supported the demonstration at the Capitol.
00:05:07.600 And critical race theory, which doesn't exist, while I think it does exist,
00:05:11.000 I think actually people on your own network have admitted that it exists.
00:05:13.980 And you've got to get your story straight because half the libs are saying CRT doesn't exist.
00:05:18.020 Half the libs are saying that CRT is awesome and totally should be taught in schools and is taught in schools.
00:05:23.120 So you've got to get your story straight here.
00:05:24.980 Either way, CRT flipped the suburbs.
00:05:29.020 I think that last part is probably fairly true.
00:05:31.160 Of course, Terry McAuliffe won't concede.
00:05:33.900 I was up yesterday.
00:05:35.560 I woke up very early to do my show yesterday in Nashville.
00:05:39.560 I then flew to Florida to speak at the National Conservatism Conference, which was terrific, by the way.
00:05:45.860 Then I flew back here to Nashville to do an election live stream.
00:05:50.240 And I did not want to go to bed.
00:05:52.560 I thought, look, we won the race.
00:05:54.280 We obviously won the race.
00:05:55.860 I don't want to go to bed before they declare victory.
00:05:58.100 But freaking Terry McAuliffe refused to concede.
00:06:03.840 Well, good evening, everybody.
00:06:07.340 What an honor to be here with you tonight.
00:06:09.400 Let me, first of all, thank you for coming out here tonight.
00:06:11.760 And I want to thank our great Governor Ralph Northam and Pam Northam for the great work that they have done.
00:06:18.420 So we still got a lot of votes to count.
00:06:22.600 We got about 18 percent of the vote out.
00:06:24.660 So we're going to continue to count the votes because every single Virginian deserves to have their vote counted.
00:06:31.420 So Terry McAuliffe is a crook.
00:06:34.040 I'm not saying that every Democrat politician is equally corrupt or crooked.
00:06:38.760 But Terry McAuliffe really is crooked.
00:06:40.760 His closest political allies are the Clintons.
00:06:43.160 He's just one of these slimy machine type politicians.
00:06:47.680 And so Terry McAuliffe was hoping that if he could stall long enough, they could discover enough votes in undisclosed boxes somewhere that just happened to have Terry McAuliffe's name written on them.
00:06:56.360 And unfortunately for him, the numbers were so strong for Glenn Youngkin that that would not work.
00:07:03.880 There was an announcement from the McAuliffe campaign.
00:07:07.560 The announcement was that the vote in Fairfax County was going to be delayed.
00:07:13.720 The count, oh, there was a problem with the count.
00:07:16.000 They had to pause the count.
00:07:16.880 We had flashbacks to 2020.
00:07:18.380 Oh, yeah, you're going to pause it until three in the morning.
00:07:21.100 You're going to find truckloads full of ballots, right?
00:07:23.540 And in McAuliffe's defense, it is very difficult to figure out how many ballots to stuff into the ballot box before you know what the numbers are in the other counties.
00:07:34.760 So in his defense, you know, he had to wait a little while.
00:07:36.680 It didn't matter.
00:07:37.940 And by the way, Terry McAuliffe never concedes.
00:07:40.440 Okay, don't forget that.
00:07:42.100 Terry McAuliffe, during this very campaign in the year of our Lord 2021, refused to admit that George W. Bush won the 2000 presidential election.
00:07:52.360 In this very campaign, in the year of our Lord 2021, Terry McAuliffe refused to acknowledge that Stacey Abrams legitimately lost the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election.
00:08:04.600 That's what happened.
00:08:05.540 So what did this election come down to?
00:08:06.920 This election came down to one moment that was repeated over and over.
00:08:12.400 McAuliffe kept making the same mistake.
00:08:13.840 The moment came during a question for McAuliffe on the issue of education.
00:08:22.580 Terry McAuliffe said parents need to butt out.
00:08:25.040 The parents had to write to veto bills, veto books, Glenn, not to be knowledgeable about it, also take them off the shelves.
00:08:32.560 And I'm not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decision.
00:08:38.220 You vetoed it.
00:08:39.140 So, yeah, I've stopped the bill that I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.
00:08:44.920 I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.
00:08:47.720 Now, don't forget, education is not just about your reading, writing, and arithmetic.
00:08:52.840 Education, broadly, is how a child is raised, right?
00:08:56.980 Education is not just about technical knowledge, not just about book learning.
00:09:01.060 It's about moral knowledge.
00:09:02.540 It's about socialization.
00:09:04.320 It's about how to be a citizen.
00:09:05.900 And so if your kid is going to a school for 12 years, 13 years with kindergarten, now what, 14, 15 years with the pre-K, now what, 16, 17, 18, 19 years with college, which is being pushed for everybody, or more, then what Terry McAuliffe is saying here is you have no right to raise your kid.
00:09:26.040 Some government employee has the right to raise your kid, but you do not have the right to raise your kid.
00:09:31.180 I think on this issue of education, the race came down to three things.
00:09:37.040 It came down to Chris Ruffo.
00:09:39.480 Chris Ruffo is the scholar at the Manhattan Institute and City Journal who has been exposing critical race theory and sort of setting the stage for critical race theory specifically and the kind of radical racial and sexual ideologies being taught in schools.
00:09:54.140 I don't think this race would have turned out the way it did without Chris Ruffo doing that.
00:09:59.040 Then there was the next level.
00:10:01.320 And, you know, I can say it without any pride or false modesty because though this involved friends of mine, it wasn't me directly, okay?
00:10:10.080 It comes down to the sweet baby game, okay?
00:10:12.940 And my colleague, Matt Walsh, going and pulling his stunt at the school board in Virginia and exposing the radical...
00:10:21.040 It's not just CRT.
00:10:22.920 It's CRT.
00:10:23.680 It's the crazy transgender stuff.
00:10:25.540 It's the masking.
00:10:26.940 It's the making the kids get the jab.
00:10:28.800 It's all of that, okay?
00:10:29.860 But it is kind of about the kids.
00:10:31.520 It is kind of about the future.
00:10:32.900 And then beyond that, even more specifically than Chris or Matt, it was this story from Luke Rosiak, the Daily Wire investigative journalist.
00:10:43.640 A specific news story about a rape of a young girl in a Virginia school that was covered up by that school district because the school district didn't want to have to answer for their insane transgender bathroom policy.
00:10:55.860 Okay, and that story to me is the pivotal story because all the rest is reacting to other things that were going on.
00:11:07.520 The Rosiak story, the transgender bathroom story, was a news story that was not coming out, okay?
00:11:16.800 The New York Times wasn't going to cover it.
00:11:18.120 The Washington Post wasn't going to cover it.
00:11:19.540 And usually what happens, because investigative journalism is expensive, is the left-wing outlets waste the money, spend the money that they're never going to make back, breaking the news.
00:11:29.180 And then conservative outlets have to take their biased accounts of those stories and then try to parse that fact from fiction.
00:11:35.740 And so we're always on the defensive.
00:11:36.980 And the stories that they don't want to cover, they just don't get covered.
00:11:39.400 So the fact that DW decided to invest in real investigative journalism, I think, played a decisive role here.
00:11:46.880 There were other things as well.
00:11:47.780 The COVID lockdowns, people didn't like it.
00:11:50.560 That went on and on and on.
00:11:51.900 The forced vaccine mandates, people didn't like it.
00:11:54.280 The fact that gas is going through the roof.
00:11:55.940 The fact that our grocery stores are closed.
00:11:57.280 I don't think it's simple enough to say that the race was all about education.
00:12:01.340 But just as the Tea Party was about taxes, debt, government spending, just as that was the last, even somewhat grassroots movement on the right,
00:12:13.000 so too, this is the latest grassroots movement on the right that I've seen.
00:12:17.780 Call it the CRT party.
00:12:20.140 You know, the Tea Party was all about money and it was all about financial and fiscal issues.
00:12:25.240 This one is about deeper issues, cultural issues, your family, who has the right to raise your kids, what the future of the country looks like.
00:12:33.580 But when you want to protect your family, by the way, I would strongly recommend you check out Ring.
00:12:37.440 This Christmas season, deck the halls, walls, windows, and doors with the best deals of the year on the award-winning Ring Alarm.
00:12:46.000 I am sure that we all know about the Ring video doorbell by now.
00:12:49.840 I've been talking about it for years and years and how incredible it is and how it makes everyone feel safe.
00:12:54.840 Did you know that Ring makes an award-winning alarm?
00:12:58.160 Ring Alarm is a powerful, affordable home security system that is so easy to install.
00:13:03.400 Even I can do it.
00:13:05.200 Gives you that same peace of mind, that same high-tech technology that you get at the Ring video doorbell.
00:13:11.200 It brings it to every corner of your house.
00:13:14.200 So this Christmas season, do it.
00:13:17.060 Deck the halls, the walls, the doors, the windows, every corner of your house with the best deals of the year on the award-winning Ring Alarm.
00:13:24.460 Go to ring.com slash Knowles to get a great deal on a Ring Alarm security kit today.
00:13:30.120 This is something that gives me peace of mind, especially when I'm traveling, you know, I'm away from home.
00:13:35.480 It gives you peace of mind when you're in your house, when you're at the office, when you're on a beach.
00:13:38.800 Makes a wonderful gift.
00:13:41.060 Ring.com slash Knowles.
00:13:43.680 So Terry McAuliffe in Virginia ended his campaign in a typically shameful way.
00:13:51.280 He ended that campaign with a lie about Glenn Youngkin, the now governor-elect of Virginia, and Donald Trump.
00:14:00.580 McAuliffe says, guess how Glenn Youngkin is finishing this campaign?
00:14:04.420 He's doing an event with Donald Trump here in Virginia where he brought the hatred divisiveness that Donald Trump brought to this country.
00:14:10.580 We're going to put an end to Donald Trump's future plans right here in Virginia.
00:14:12.980 So the McAuliffe campaign's strategy was to make the race all about Donald Trump, kind of like what happened with the recall in California.
00:14:21.620 The Youngkin campaign's strategy was to make the race all about education and kids.
00:14:27.580 Both of them might have been fair strategies.
00:14:29.560 Donald Trump is just not as popular in Virginia as he is, say, here in the studios of the Michael Knowles show.
00:14:35.640 You know, if McAuliffe had tried that strategy in the studios of the Michael Knowles show, it would have made me much more likely to vote for Glenn Youngkin, even than I already was.
00:14:43.580 But in Virginia, you know, Trump didn't do as well in Virginia.
00:14:47.440 The reason I mention this is because it shows you how willing Terry McAuliffe is to lie.
00:14:55.300 Not to bend the truth, not to focus on certain things to the exclusion of others, not to exaggerate, but to lie.
00:15:01.120 And the thing is, if you lie about the small things, you will lie about the big things too.
00:15:08.560 And that's not a winning strategy here, okay?
00:15:12.440 Because when the left has a complete monopoly over the media and the flow of information, then you can get away with lies.
00:15:21.640 But when the right breaks a story, when big tech doesn't intervene to shut down that story, when the truth gets out, you look like a jerk and you lose your race.
00:15:33.120 By the way, the Democrats did not exactly hesitate to try to cheat here.
00:15:38.340 There was a news report that came out yesterday afternoon that Virginia polling precincts were turning away maskless voters from casting their ballots.
00:15:47.760 So Matt Schlapp, who's the head of the American Conservative Union, he said he was rejected from voting.
00:15:52.840 He was turned away from a polling place because he wouldn't have his mask on.
00:15:56.380 This is obviously a suppression of the Republican vote.
00:15:59.380 Why?
00:15:59.840 Because all the people who don't wear masks are Republicans.
00:16:02.940 And all the sheep who do wear the masks on the 593rd day of 15 days to slow the spread are Democrats.
00:16:09.760 And so if you say, no, you have to wear a mask to vote, it'd be like the same as saying you need to wear a Terry McAuliffe for governor shirt to vote.
00:16:16.240 It's just a political symbol at this point.
00:16:18.660 Frankly, I think it sort of always was.
00:16:21.460 So they were trying to suppress the election day turnout.
00:16:25.440 Democrats rigged the election.
00:16:27.460 It ultimately didn't work, but they rigged the election by putting a huge emphasis on early voting, on mail-in voting, all of which redounds to the electoral benefit of Democrats.
00:16:37.140 So the election day voting was always going to tilt heavily in Republican favor.
00:16:41.560 So if you can, if you can suppress that election day voting through the mask or whatever other bogus reason you want, you're going to suppress the Republican vote.
00:16:48.180 Thankfully, they got a rule.
00:16:50.240 The Republicans got a ruling that said you can't do that.
00:16:52.240 So they sent a note out to all of their reporters saying stay in line.
00:16:55.100 Even if you don't have a mask, stay in line.
00:16:56.980 They can't turn you away.
00:16:59.280 And it obviously worked.
00:17:01.240 This was a big crack for the ruling class.
00:17:05.120 Okay, I said this on the show yesterday.
00:17:06.480 I said if Glenn Youngkin wins in Virginia, it will at least persuade Republicans to some degree that it's not a 100% rigged system.
00:17:20.320 That actually it does still matter if you go campaign, if you go vote.
00:17:23.220 This is going to have really important effects in 2022 and 2024.
00:17:26.660 And just for faith in the country.
00:17:28.140 You know, if Republicans felt they got gypped in this election, if they felt that this was stolen, that would pose a big problem.
00:17:37.260 Then you would have a great deal of the country thinking that this is just a tin pot dictatorship.
00:17:42.700 This is a banana republic where we can't trust our elections anymore.
00:17:45.820 Okay.
00:17:47.020 So it's a big crack for the ruling class.
00:17:49.420 You're seeing protests all around.
00:17:51.380 And there's a difference between the protests.
00:17:53.600 Okay, there are the protests at the school boards with the parents protesting CRT and the gender stuff and the vaccine mandates and all the rest of it.
00:18:02.800 And then there are the fake protests.
00:18:06.880 There are the astroturfed protests.
00:18:09.960 The court gesture protests.
00:18:12.140 That's what you saw at the big climate conference with Greta Thunberg.
00:18:17.500 Greta Thunberg began her career as a climate activist when she was a teenager, 15, 16.
00:18:24.080 She's now 18.
00:18:25.200 So you're not hearing from Greta Thunberg as much anymore because the left is going to find some new child to exploit.
00:18:30.780 It's not as interesting.
00:18:32.100 It doesn't make as big a news story when they're exploiting an 18 or 19 or 20 year old.
00:18:36.920 Remember what happened to the gun kids?
00:18:38.940 Remember the anti-gun kids?
00:18:40.720 Now I even forget the guy's name.
00:18:42.660 David Hogg.
00:18:44.120 David Hogg.
00:18:45.020 Right, you don't hear from him anymore because when he was a little kid, a little kid, he was 16, 17.
00:18:50.000 When he was a minor, the left exploited him for their political purposes.
00:18:54.660 Now that he's in college, he's no use to them.
00:18:56.380 So he kind of goes away.
00:18:57.720 So Greta Thunberg showed up to the climate conference and she gave her big rousing protest.
00:19:03.420 No more exploitation of people and nature and the planets.
00:19:08.360 No more exploitation.
00:19:10.380 No more blah, blah, blah.
00:19:12.240 No more whatever the f*** they're doing inside there.
00:19:15.020 No more blah, blah, blah.
00:19:19.340 No more blah, blah, blah.
00:19:21.380 No more blah, blah, blah.
00:19:23.460 No more blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:19:26.080 So what's strange, people are talking about how this was vulgar and how this was incoherent
00:19:31.980 and how this was a bad look for the climate activists out there.
00:19:35.440 To me, this sounds just like all of the other left-wing protests.
00:19:39.360 The blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:19:40.800 That's what they all sound like to me.
00:19:42.140 I'm like a character in Peanuts and the leftist protesters, they are the teacher.
00:19:47.700 It's just blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:19:49.980 So when they literally say that, there's really not much of a difference in terms of what I am hearing.
00:19:55.820 But what is interesting about this to me is not that the protest kind of fell flat or that it's vulgar and the vulgarity is really not a good look or that it was incoherent because all they were saying is blah, blah, blah.
00:20:08.440 It's that the whole thing was fake.
00:20:10.420 The whole thing is fake.
00:20:11.460 Who are Greta Thunberg and her followers protesting?
00:20:16.420 Who are these leftist activists protesting?
00:20:19.880 The leftists in the climate conference for the leftist issue that they all agree on?
00:20:26.340 There's no protest.
00:20:28.440 Everybody involved in this thing agrees.
00:20:31.500 They all want to harp on the climate issue.
00:20:34.760 They all want to use the climate issue to take away people's choices and way of life and traditions.
00:20:41.360 So it's just a, it's play acting.
00:20:44.960 Okay.
00:20:45.620 When parents show up to school boards and say, you've taken too much power, you're teaching my kids a bunch of crap, and we're going to kick you out and start educating our own kids.
00:20:55.760 That's a legitimate threat to the regime.
00:20:58.460 When environmentalists show up to the environmentalist conference and say the same things outside the conference that the people inside the conference are saying, that's, that's not a threat.
00:21:13.060 That actually bolsters the regime.
00:21:14.660 It's the appearance of political opposition when, in fact, all of them are on the same team.
00:21:19.060 During that climate conference, Joe Biden took a little bit of a nap.
00:21:25.300 So you can see Joe Biden's looking at some woman in front of him.
00:21:31.960 His eyes, though, they're kind of, they look a little heavy.
00:21:34.880 He's wearing his mask.
00:21:36.260 We're cutting off a little bit of oxygen to the head, what little oxygen he was getting.
00:21:41.220 You hear someone droning on in the background there.
00:21:43.820 Oh, there they go.
00:21:45.000 There go the eyes.
00:21:46.820 I'm just going to close them.
00:21:48.120 I'm just, I'm just going to rest my eyes for a little, huh?
00:21:52.440 Did someone, no, come on, Joe.
00:21:53.900 Joe, do you think anyone's noticing?
00:21:56.520 No.
00:21:56.880 You can just rest your eyes for what it'll be, just like a couple seconds.
00:22:02.180 You can see his chest goes up, down, just the sonorous, melodious sounds of this climate act.
00:22:11.540 Just a couple minutes of sleep.
00:22:13.540 People are attacking Joe Biden for this.
00:22:15.780 They're making fun of him.
00:22:16.540 They're criticizing him, especially on the right.
00:22:19.180 I think this is unfair.
00:22:20.080 No one criticizes Biden more than I do, but I try to be fair about it.
00:22:24.720 I completely defend Joe Biden here.
00:22:27.080 Any one of you listening right now, myself included, anyone behind the cameras here at
00:22:31.860 The Daily Wire, we all would have fallen asleep during that conference.
00:22:36.460 You don't have to be old.
00:22:37.520 You don't have to be senile.
00:22:38.760 You don't.
00:22:39.740 That conference was absolute chloroform through a microphone.
00:22:43.700 We all would have fallen asleep.
00:22:45.060 I do not blame Joe Biden.
00:22:46.920 What I do blame Joe Biden for is what he said at the conference.
00:22:51.700 Joe Biden managed to rouse himself from his nap long enough to apologize to the rest of
00:22:57.140 the world for America.
00:22:58.400 And I, I guess I shouldn't apologize, but I do apologize for the fact that the United
00:23:03.680 States, the last administration, pulled out of the Paris Accords and put us sort of behind
00:23:09.220 people.
00:23:11.420 The first thing I did when I elected, I see my friend nodding and said over there, because
00:23:15.920 we talked about this before while I was running.
00:23:18.620 No, we've got to, I've got to apologize.
00:23:20.540 I don't want to, I shouldn't apologize, but I'm going to apologize because we pulled out
00:23:25.360 of the Paris Climate Accord and not keeping up our end of the bargain.
00:23:28.320 So first of all, that, that just isn't true.
00:23:30.840 It's true.
00:23:31.200 We pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord, but it's not true that we therefore were polluting
00:23:35.080 the environment in this incredible way.
00:23:36.640 And we weren't keeping up with the other countries in that year that we pulled out of the Paris
00:23:40.320 Climate Accord, we led the world in carbon emissions.
00:23:45.060 I'm not even saying that's a good thing or something we should be bragging about.
00:23:47.680 I'm just saying we did better on the Paris Climate Goals than any of the countries
00:23:53.720 that actually remained signed on to the accord.
00:23:57.720 They all just kind of lied.
00:23:59.140 They made a big show about it.
00:24:00.020 They said that they were really interested in cutting their emissions and fought, but
00:24:04.320 they didn't do it.
00:24:05.840 We didn't say that we cared about that at all, but we actually did do it.
00:24:09.700 Because for the left, what you say is much more important than what you do.
00:24:15.560 Now, I'm much more interested in reality.
00:24:20.020 I'm much less interested in the fantasies and the narratives and the spin from the left.
00:24:25.860 And all of these reasons why the left-wing policies are supposed to be so good and why
00:24:30.060 theoretically they're so good.
00:24:31.420 I care about what's going on on the ground.
00:24:34.260 And the fact is right now gas is going through the roof, which is why you should check out

00:25:50.640 We'll be right back with a lot more.
00:26:04.440 Marjorie Taylor Greene.
00:26:06.120 You know Marjorie Taylor Greene.
00:26:07.580 And she's that Republican congressman, insurrectionist, terrorist, conspiracist, ist, ist, ism, and ist.
00:26:17.880 Whom the Democrats loathe.
00:26:20.180 They hate her.
00:26:21.560 And a lot of squish Republicans don't like her either because she's a little eccentric.
00:26:25.140 So they try to say, I'm a Republican, but I'm not that kind of Republican.
00:26:27.740 Don't let me in with that kind of Republican.
00:26:29.520 I'm no, I'm a good kind.
00:26:30.600 I'm the good kind of Republican.
00:26:31.920 Marjorie Taylor Greene has racked up about $50,000 in fines for not wearing her mask
00:26:39.380 in the House of Representatives.
00:26:42.140 I love that.
00:26:42.900 Nancy Pelosi decided she was going to impose a mask mandate.
00:26:46.720 Now, don't forget, the Senate, which shares a building with the House, shares a very famous
00:26:52.340 building.
00:26:52.600 The Senate does not have a mask mandate, even though the Democrats control the Senate, too.
00:26:57.360 So the senators don't, none of them need to wear their masks.
00:27:01.060 The House, Nancy Pelosi, has decided there is a mask mandate.
00:27:05.100 And so sensible people are not following that.
00:27:09.980 A lot of squishes are going along with it.
00:27:12.720 Sensible people are ignoring it.
00:27:15.240 And so Pelosi's fining people.
00:27:16.700 Marjorie Taylor Greene has racked up 50 G's in fines.
00:27:22.520 I was actually talking to Senator Cruz about this not so long ago.
00:27:25.740 And he said that the mask mandate is actually pretty useful because when you're walking around
00:27:30.200 at least the House side of things, you can instantly know who is a Democrat and who's
00:27:34.260 a Republican.
00:27:35.100 Among the staffers, among anyone.
00:27:37.660 He's out wearing a mask.
00:27:38.720 That is a Democrat.
00:27:41.280 Not wearing a mask.
00:27:42.260 That is a Republican.
00:27:43.840 She's been documented, Marjorie Taylor Greene has been documented nearly two dozen times
00:27:48.840 bucking the mandate and she's showing no signs of stopping.
00:27:55.060 I really love this.
00:27:56.820 I really get a great kick out of this.
00:27:58.820 It's wonderful.
00:28:00.760 I think the criticisms of Marjorie Taylor Greene miss the point.
00:28:04.360 They will say she's said cookie things.
00:28:05.900 She said she wrote something on Facebook that's a little weird.
00:28:09.160 She has had a colorful life.
00:28:11.100 Yeah, sure.
00:28:12.020 All of that's true.
00:28:12.640 I think it misses the point.
00:28:15.740 Marjorie Taylor Greene is bucking the system.
00:28:19.620 And if you want to buck the system, you have to be a little bit eccentric.
00:28:25.360 Okay?
00:28:26.140 I'm not excusing everything the woman said and done.
00:28:28.680 I don't really care, frankly.
00:28:31.660 The eccentricity is sort of the point.
00:28:33.940 Because what usually happens is you get Democrats elected into the House.
00:28:41.240 I forget, the House is about as low as it gets in terms of prominent national political
00:28:46.280 roles.
00:28:46.800 Okay?
00:28:47.100 They don't have a ton of power.
00:28:49.520 You've got to do a lot of team playing in order to get any prominence within the House
00:28:55.480 whatsoever.
00:28:56.680 So people get elected.
00:28:57.640 The Democrats get elected.
00:28:58.760 And what do they do?
00:28:59.500 They go along with the system.
00:29:00.400 They are the ruling class.
00:29:01.340 So that's not surprising.
00:29:03.300 Then some Republicans get elected.
00:29:05.180 And usually they just kind of go along to get along.
00:29:08.440 They know they've got to pay their dues.
00:29:10.300 They've got to keep their heads down.
00:29:11.540 Maybe after a few terms, maybe they can start sponsoring legislation.
00:29:14.180 Get on some important committees.
00:29:16.000 Get more of a leadership role.
00:29:18.820 And then you get the people who don't want to go along to get along.
00:29:22.200 Who actually want to mix things up.
00:29:23.720 And they've got to be a little bit eccentric.
00:29:25.980 And they're going to rack up $50,000 in fines.
00:29:28.540 And they're going to post some weird things on Facebook.
00:29:31.300 That's the cost of sending someone to the Congress who is going to shake things up a
00:29:39.120 little bit.
00:29:39.460 Fine by me.
00:29:40.000 I think it's well worth the money.
00:29:41.840 You need tough politicians.
00:29:43.300 All right?
00:29:43.420 And we're seeing one.
00:29:43.940 I was just in Florida yesterday.
00:29:45.160 I think that I haven't kept a real solid count.
00:29:48.260 I have been to Florida probably 15 times this year at least.
00:29:53.480 I mean, I've been to Florida twice in the last week.
00:29:57.000 I might have been to Florida more than 15 times this year.
00:29:59.700 And it's because all of the events are going on in Florida.
00:30:02.020 Because Florida opened up very early.
00:30:04.380 Because Florida has good Republican leadership in Ron DeSantis.
00:30:08.420 So Ron DeSantis came out.
00:30:10.560 And he was just speaking at a chamber of commerce.
00:30:14.520 And unfortunately, we don't have video of it.
00:30:16.180 But it is being reported in the newspapers, what he said.
00:30:18.660 Very important.
00:30:19.520 Take a listen.
00:30:20.020 He said, if you are using your power as a corporation and you are leveraging that to try to advance
00:30:26.760 any ideology, I think it's very dangerous for this country.
00:30:30.300 And I'm not just going to sit idly by.
00:30:32.660 Do you want to be more of a political actor or more of a business actor?
00:30:37.680 Then he gives them some political advice.
00:30:40.480 He says, don't ever think that caving to the mob is going to save your bacon.
00:30:43.900 That's just going to cause them to come back more.
00:30:46.300 Absolutely true.
00:30:47.060 And then, though he kind of alluded to this in the first part, then he gets to his direct threat.
00:30:52.420 He says, you know, if you do it, you are also going to come by some people on the other side,
00:30:57.240 like me, who are not going to say, well, who are going to say, rather, well, wait a minute.
00:31:01.520 If you're going to criticize what we're doing, I may criticize some of the things you are doing.
00:31:07.300 I may look under the hood and not like some things.
00:31:10.780 I got a podium.
00:31:12.260 I got cameras that will follow me around.
00:31:14.700 Maybe I'll go talk about that a little bit.
00:31:16.960 And so I think it's something that's very damaging.
00:31:22.640 Yup.
00:31:23.880 That's, that's it.
00:31:26.680 The squish Republican.
00:31:28.040 Republican, the Republican talking points of a decade ago, the kind of more libertarian type of Republican.
00:31:35.520 They would say, oh, how dare you, Governor DeSantis?
00:31:38.880 You, you can't threaten private, private businesses.
00:31:42.980 The job creators, the people who have every right to push whatever woke nonsense they want.
00:31:48.400 They can push abortion and transgenderism and up in marriage and CRT.
00:31:51.760 They can push all of that.
00:31:52.460 That's their right as Americans.
00:31:54.260 They can sell out the country and all of its traditions to China or wherever.
00:31:57.360 That's their right.
00:31:58.380 That's free enterprise.
00:31:59.940 How dare you, Governor?
00:32:01.600 You, you're just the person that the people elected.
00:32:04.120 You have no right to do anything.
00:32:06.240 You're just the person who the people using the constitutional means available to them came together
00:32:13.140 to elect, to represent them in our government.
00:32:17.800 You have no right.
00:32:18.920 No, I think you do have a right.
00:32:20.420 I think we do have political rights in this country.
00:32:22.720 And I think one of the big mistakes of the last several decades is that everyone privatized
00:32:28.280 everything.
00:32:29.960 They did.
00:32:30.800 The left privatized all of our social decisions, who you sleep with, who you get to kill as
00:32:36.800 long as he's in the womb, that sort of thing.
00:32:38.100 And the right privatized all of our economic decisions.
00:32:44.060 And therefore, a lot of our political decisions.
00:32:46.420 Because if you say that corporations can do whatever they want and we can never say
00:32:50.660 peep about it, well then, you've given them the ability to push a radical agenda.
00:32:56.160 You've given them the ability to control speech.
00:32:58.480 You've given them the ability to undermine our own national interest for corporations on
00:33:03.020 the other side of the world.
00:33:03.780 What DeSantis is asserting here is a deeply conservative principle.
00:33:08.720 We have political rights and we can express them through our duly elected representative.
00:33:13.900 By the way, what he says here, people are going to take issue.
00:33:15.800 They're going to say, if you push any ideology, we're going to do this to you.
00:33:19.280 And what he's really implying is if you push a leftist ideology, right?
00:33:23.280 If some corporation comes out and is pro-life, I don't think he's going to take issue with
00:33:26.340 them.
00:33:27.820 They're going to say, well, he's being disingenuous here.
00:33:29.420 No, what he's saying is literally true.
00:33:31.220 The ideology is a leftist phenomenon.
00:33:34.620 It is a left-wing phenomenon of liberal modernity.
00:33:39.400 Ideology is the, I'll use a, this is kind of a silly definition, or I mean, it's a very
00:33:45.700 good definition, but it sounds kind of flowery and abstract.
00:33:49.180 But Oakeshott calls ideology the formalized abridgment of the supposed substratum of rational
00:33:53.640 truth contained in the tradition.
00:33:54.980 To bring that down to earth, what that means is it's a, it's a five point rationalized
00:34:01.220 manifesto.
00:34:02.280 It's saying, hey, everything that matters in the entire world between heaven and earth,
00:34:05.700 everything in our whole society can be boiled down to these three points.
00:34:10.940 And as long as we do that, then we're going to have a good time on earth.
00:34:14.140 And that's just not true.
00:34:16.060 Life is complicated.
00:34:17.160 Life is rich.
00:34:17.680 This is why conservatives tend to reject ideology for deeper, more complex things.
00:34:22.580 Religion, tradition, local community, right?
00:34:30.120 This is why we're not so fast to revolutionize the whole world.
00:34:33.700 We say, slow down, hold on.
00:34:35.500 Why are you getting rid of that institution?
00:34:37.420 Why are you toppling that statue?
00:34:39.720 Why are you upending social order?
00:34:41.760 Slow down or maybe don't do it at all.
00:34:46.820 That is a much more conservative approach.
00:34:49.380 Now, one of the criticisms of this in modernity is that ideologies are really clear.
00:34:54.560 They are Marxism, libertarianism for that matter.
00:34:59.140 All the narrow ideologies, they're really clear.
00:35:01.400 But as my friend, Father George Rettler points out, shallows are clear.
00:35:04.300 Shallow thinking is clear.
00:35:06.220 Deep things are a little more murky.
00:35:07.920 They're a little, they're a little more complex.
00:35:10.300 They're a little more profound.
00:35:12.000 Speaking of ideology, Elon Musk, the eccentric billionaire, has decided he's going to found
00:35:19.760 a university.
00:35:21.600 He's at least thinking about it.
00:35:23.240 Elon Musk tweeted out a couple of days ago,
00:35:26.220 I'm thinking of starting a new university, Texas Institute of Technology and Science.
00:35:32.880 And my first reaction to this was, well, that's good.
00:35:35.480 We should start our own universities.
00:35:36.720 We should build up our own institutions.
00:35:38.260 And it's good to make sure we have tech and science.
00:35:41.700 But really, we should go further.
00:35:42.780 We need to focus on the humanities.
00:35:44.540 And we need to focus on the, you know, the English and history and all of these things
00:35:49.540 that really matter to preserving our culture.
00:35:51.940 And this is something that conservatives have ignored for too long.
00:35:54.120 And then I realized, wait a second, I think he's just making a boob joke.
00:35:59.140 If you look, the Texas, usually you'd say a science and technology, right?
00:36:03.740 That's what you hear in a lot of these schools.
00:36:05.600 So, but it's not Texas Institute of Science.
00:36:08.200 It's Texas Institute of Technology and Science.
00:36:15.720 I think it might just be a boob joke, but it's an important lesson nonetheless.
00:36:20.420 And it reminds us that sometimes even in jokes with a little bit of humor,
00:36:23.820 we can make a very important political point.
00:36:26.740 We should do.
00:36:27.240 I hope Elon does do that.
00:36:28.340 And I hope he keeps the name.
00:36:29.400 Speaking of universities though, very sad news from a Catholic university,
00:36:33.720 Loyola Marymount University.
00:36:35.000 I've spoken at Loyola Marymount.
00:36:36.980 Very left-wing place.
00:36:39.080 I spoke there with Drew Klavan a few years ago.
00:36:42.460 Loyola Marymount University is hosting a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood.
00:36:47.760 So there's this group on campus, LMU Women in Politics,
00:36:53.140 and they're hosting a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood.
00:36:55.600 And now there is a petition being sent out from a more conservative group,
00:36:59.420 Renew LMU, that is requesting that the fundraiser be canceled.
00:37:04.880 This is an important story.
00:37:06.480 You're not going to hear about this story in a lot of places.
00:37:08.220 It seems like just kind of a minor issue on some random campus somewhere.
00:37:12.140 This is a very important story because in this case,
00:37:14.780 it's a left-wing group that is trying to bring people to campus.
00:37:17.900 And it's the right-wing group that's trying to cancel those people from coming to campus.
00:37:21.180 And in recent years, and I've been, I guess, one of the main figures in this,
00:37:27.880 me and Ben and Candace and other people,
00:37:31.340 where we are brought to campuses to speak, we as conservatives,
00:37:35.360 and the left-wing campus tries to cancel us, and then everyone decries cancel culture.
00:37:40.600 Now, if you've been listening to this show or have read my recent book, Speechless,
00:37:45.000 you'll know that I don't decry cancel culture exactly.
00:37:48.940 I think cancel culture has a lot of good uses.
00:37:50.520 This would be one of them.
00:37:52.440 Okay, I think we all understand that an abortion factory has no role on a Catholic campus.
00:37:58.660 It is in direct contradiction of Catholic teaching.
00:38:03.860 It's in direct contradiction of all that is good and true and beautiful.
00:38:09.840 They're just trying to kill a bunch of babies.
00:38:12.080 The students have no right to bring this group to campus.
00:38:15.420 And so they should be canceled.
00:38:16.860 But the people who get hung up on this kind of libertarian,
00:38:19.500 and let's cancel cancel culture kind of talk,
00:38:21.420 they don't have a coherent way of addressing that.
00:38:27.020 Okay, so I think we've got to change the way we're talking about cancel culture and recognize,
00:38:31.980 no, some things are true and some things are false.
00:38:33.740 And we should exclude the things that are false.
00:38:35.300 And we can settle it and we can cancel people.
00:38:37.220 And if we're going to cancel anyone, it should be Planned Parenthood.
00:38:39.620 It's not just that Planned Parenthood should be canceled from the campus.
00:38:42.760 Planned Parenthood should be canceled, period.
00:38:44.520 And the people who work at Planned Parenthood should be anathematized.
00:38:47.940 And we should pass laws against this kind of stuff.
00:38:51.320 And anyone who violates those laws should go to jail.
00:38:53.520 At the very least, they should go to jail for a very long time.
00:38:57.520 Okay, that's cancel culture to the furthest extreme it can be.
00:39:00.740 And it's a very good thing.
00:39:02.560 And we need to grow a little spine and maybe a few other anatomical features
00:39:06.340 and be willing and confident to say those sorts of things.
00:39:09.860 Speaking of the Catholics, really unfortunate news from the Supreme Court.
00:39:18.080 A Catholic hospital has just been at the center of a case
00:39:23.060 that's gone all the way up to the Supreme Court.
00:39:25.060 The case has to do with whether or not a Catholic hospital
00:39:27.820 can be forced to perform a transgender surgery against its conscience
00:39:34.160 and frankly, against the most basic elements of medical ethics.
00:39:39.860 What happened here is a woman showed up to a Catholic hospital
00:39:43.360 and said, I want you to perform a hysterectomy.
00:39:45.880 I want you to remove my lady parts because I think that I'm a man.
00:39:50.780 And the Catholic hospital said, well, you're not a man.
00:39:53.760 And this is in violation of our faith and of medical ethics.
00:39:57.240 So we're not going to do that.
00:39:58.380 Goes up to the court.
00:40:00.260 The Supreme Court refuses to hear the case.
00:40:03.320 Meaning they're going to uphold a lower court's opinion.
00:40:05.180 They're going to establish the principle, at least,
00:40:09.300 that the Catholic hospital must perform this surgery.
00:40:13.300 How's this possible?
00:40:14.160 We have a 6-3 conservative majority here.
00:40:18.040 Well, it's possible because the conservatives on the court,
00:40:21.260 Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch.
00:40:24.740 Gorsuch is a little squishier, but Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch,
00:40:27.500 all three of them, sided with the Catholic hospital,
00:40:30.300 at least to hear the case.
00:40:31.480 But the squishes, Kavanaugh, Roberts, and Amy Barrett,
00:40:40.220 they sided with the court's liberals, and they won't hear the case.
00:40:44.440 Amy Barrett.
00:40:47.840 We fought so hard to get Amy Coney Barrett on the court.
00:40:52.280 That was going to be the big win.
00:40:53.520 Remember that?
00:40:54.420 And Amy Coney Barrett is a disaster.
00:40:56.880 She's a disaster.
00:40:59.720 She's not only, gosh, the court should have gone so much further here,
00:41:05.140 but they couldn't even give us the bare minimum
00:41:07.580 to stop radical activists from forcing Catholic hospitals to sterilize women.
00:41:15.680 Gosh.
00:41:17.720 Those sweltering summer nights that leave you tossing and turning,
00:41:20.400 desperately kicking off the covers, don't have to ruin your sleep.

00:41:45.680 Limited time only, exclusions do apply.
00:41:50.340 This big court case over the transgender surgery,
00:41:54.220 the court case that wasn't because the Supreme Court wouldn't even hear it,
00:41:56.940 and the courts alleged, a lot of the courts alleged conservatives
00:42:00.460 sided with the liberals here.
00:42:03.560 This shows you a big problem with the conservative legal movement.
00:42:06.320 First of all, not only should Catholic hospitals not be forced
00:42:09.560 to perform a transgender surgery,
00:42:11.580 transgender surgery should be illegal.
00:42:14.360 Okay, there are three positions here, right?
00:42:16.620 There's the leftist position, which is we should promote transgender surgery.
00:42:20.600 Frankly, we should trans the kids, right?
00:42:21.980 That's the left-wing position.
00:42:23.380 Then there's the squish libertarian position,
00:42:25.660 which is if you want transgender surgery, that's fine.
00:42:27.680 If you're a woman who wants to cut out her,
00:42:30.120 or a man who wants to cut off his perfectly healthy organs
00:42:32.940 to indulge in some delusion, that's totally fine.
00:42:35.340 That's a good thing.
00:42:36.800 Do whatever you want.
00:42:37.500 Just don't make me pay for it.
00:42:39.120 Do whatever you want.
00:42:39.860 Just don't force anyone else to.
00:42:41.460 And then there's the conservative position, which is no.
00:42:43.640 It is wrong.
00:42:44.960 It is not compassionate.
00:42:46.120 It's deeply cruel and unjust
00:42:47.520 to indulge the delusions of sick people
00:42:51.320 who believe that they are really women
00:42:54.580 when they're actually men, or vice versa,
00:42:57.120 and who are mutilating their bodies.
00:42:58.700 There's nothing right or good about that.
00:43:00.540 There's no political right to do that,
00:43:02.780 and we shouldn't do it.
00:43:04.200 It's a violation of medical ethics.
00:43:05.980 At first, do no harm.
00:43:10.620 But forget about that conversation.
00:43:13.460 We can't even now say that you can't force
00:43:15.340 a Catholic hospital to do it.
00:43:17.260 What this is showing is that
00:43:18.540 the conservative legal movement is a joke.
00:43:20.840 It's a joke.
00:43:23.080 How many times have we pushed
00:43:25.520 to get the conservative on the court
00:43:26.800 and then the conservative,
00:43:27.660 when push comes to shove, buckles?
00:43:31.200 It's a joke.
00:43:32.120 And it's too bad
00:43:32.860 because we've built up these institutions
00:43:34.540 in the conservative legal movement,
00:43:35.800 the federalist society, things like that.
00:43:37.680 And it hasn't worked.
00:43:38.940 It hasn't worked out.
00:43:40.400 We have lost almost every important court case,
00:43:43.640 some of which are society-defining court cases.
00:43:48.540 The radical new definition of marriage,
00:43:51.180 things like that.
00:43:54.360 We've lost almost all of them.
00:43:55.920 We need a new conservative legal movement.
00:44:00.340 Some people are working on this.
00:44:01.460 Adrian Vermeule at Harvard is working on this.
00:44:03.760 Josh Hammer, my friend who I saw yesterday
00:44:05.240 at the National Conservative Conference,
00:44:06.820 is working on this.
00:44:08.740 Status quo isn't working,
00:44:10.340 and we should not.
00:44:11.900 We're like Charlie Brown with the football.
00:44:14.300 We think the next time
00:44:15.660 Lucy's going to hold the football in place,
00:44:17.620 Lucy is not going to hold the football in place.
00:44:19.680 Now, there is another big case coming up
00:44:23.260 where I hope Barrett can redeem herself,
00:44:26.680 but I'm not sure I'm necessarily holding my breath.
00:44:30.280 This is an abortion case.
00:44:32.680 It's going to be the biggest court case
00:44:34.400 in a very long time
00:44:35.860 that could overturn Roe v. Wade
00:44:38.780 and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
00:44:39.980 But you look at the record here
00:44:44.120 for someone like a Kavanaugh
00:44:45.300 or someone like a Barrett,
00:44:46.760 certainly someone like a Roberts.
00:44:48.480 You really think
00:44:49.220 they're going to overturn Roe v. Wade?
00:44:51.000 You really think they have the integrity
00:44:53.300 and the courage to do that?
00:44:56.420 It doesn't seem like that to me.
00:44:57.780 I hope they prove me wrong.
00:44:58.780 I hope they prove me wrong.
00:45:00.040 Meanwhile, the abortion advocates
00:45:02.380 are getting more brazen.
00:45:04.380 There was a new law
00:45:07.360 that's just come up through Illinois.
00:45:08.720 that will repeal
00:45:11.940 an abortion parental notification law.
00:45:14.560 So the upshot of this
00:45:16.100 is that minors will be able to
00:45:18.660 kill their babies through abortion
00:45:20.820 without the parents ever finding out.
00:45:24.320 And all these perverts and sickos
00:45:26.100 in the Democratic Party in Illinois,
00:45:28.620 including the governor,
00:45:31.120 are thrilled about it.
00:45:33.000 They couldn't be happier.
00:45:34.660 Terribly sad stuff.
00:45:35.700 Obviously terribly sad for the babies
00:45:36.920 and for the girls
00:45:37.500 and for everyone involved.
00:45:39.460 It does bring up
00:45:40.640 this political question
00:45:42.060 that we keep coming back to.
00:45:44.200 It's the political question
00:45:45.680 that defines
00:45:46.880 the elections that we've just had.
00:45:52.380 Which is the basic unit of society?
00:45:54.560 So I said that the question
00:45:55.940 that mattered in Virginia
00:45:57.840 is who gets to raise your kids?
00:46:00.000 Some government employee or you?
00:46:02.380 Well, that question
00:46:03.360 is actually just part
00:46:05.120 of an even more basic question.
00:46:08.040 What is the basic unit of society?
00:46:11.800 The individual or the family?
00:46:15.900 And this is an...
00:46:16.420 I told you there are
00:46:16.960 these three groups in society.
00:46:18.160 There's the leftists,
00:46:18.980 there's the kind of libertarian squish types,
00:46:20.680 and then there are the conservatives.
00:46:22.500 And very often it's the conservatives
00:46:23.980 and the libertarians
00:46:24.740 who are on the same side
00:46:25.640 fighting against the leftists.
00:46:27.280 But on this question,
00:46:28.320 on this most basic political question,
00:46:30.140 it's the opposite.
00:46:31.040 It's the leftists
00:46:32.180 and the libertarians
00:46:33.060 fighting against the conservatives.
00:46:36.540 What is the most basic element of society?
00:46:39.280 The leftists
00:46:40.340 and the libertarians
00:46:42.360 would probably say the individual.
00:46:45.940 I'm simplifying a little bit,
00:46:47.340 but I think that's basically the answer.
00:46:49.320 They would say the individual.
00:46:50.800 The individual is the basic unit of society.
00:46:53.020 The entire purpose of government
00:46:53.960 is to protect individual rights.
00:46:56.180 Don't tread on me, the individual.
00:46:58.080 Forget me, the political community.
00:46:59.100 Just me, the individual.
00:47:01.040 And so if the individual
00:47:03.060 is the basic unit of society,
00:47:04.520 you can see the logic
00:47:08.080 or the illogic
00:47:09.420 behind a law like this in Illinois.
00:47:12.160 It's the individual.
00:47:12.920 If there is a right to an abortion,
00:47:15.380 then the individual has that right.
00:47:16.500 It's not about the family deciding that.
00:47:18.400 Now the conservatives believe
00:47:19.680 that the individual
00:47:20.740 is actually not the basic unit of society,
00:47:22.820 that it's the family.
00:47:25.020 Right?
00:47:25.360 If the individual
00:47:26.040 is the basic unit of society,
00:47:27.280 then the state has a claim
00:47:29.360 to the education of the child.
00:47:32.900 Has the primary claim
00:47:34.260 to the education of the child.
00:47:36.820 Right?
00:47:37.240 Because maybe the kid's got a bad family
00:47:39.360 and the state needs to come in
00:47:40.400 and protect that kid
00:47:41.400 from all the craziness
00:47:42.280 that the family's going to
00:47:43.440 fill his head with.
00:47:44.520 You know, craziness about like
00:47:45.840 religion and civics
00:47:48.140 and love of country
00:47:49.580 and morality
00:47:50.420 and all that.
00:47:51.440 But if the family
00:47:53.160 is the basic unit of society,
00:47:55.620 then before the state
00:47:56.880 can intervene,
00:47:58.460 the state needs to deal
00:47:59.480 with the family first.
00:48:01.880 And if there is a right
00:48:02.660 to an abortion,
00:48:03.320 before the kid
00:48:04.520 can get the abortion,
00:48:05.300 the kid needs to talk
00:48:05.900 to the family first.
00:48:08.540 This seems,
00:48:09.540 you go from this very specific issue
00:48:11.860 in Virginia,
00:48:12.980 this issue of the rape
00:48:14.080 in the school
00:48:14.620 or this issue of critical race theory
00:48:16.120 in the classroom,
00:48:16.860 to this much more abstract question,
00:48:19.860 what's the basic unit of society?
00:48:21.960 But that is really
00:48:23.120 what we are debating here.
00:48:24.680 And having just come
00:48:26.080 from the National Conservatism
00:48:27.400 Conference yesterday,
00:48:28.420 it seems to me pretty clear
00:48:29.560 that we're moving
00:48:31.080 in a much more
00:48:31.540 conservative direction,
00:48:32.740 that the right is waking up
00:48:34.000 and saying,
00:48:34.340 wait a second,
00:48:34.780 if we just keep
00:48:35.400 prattling on about
00:48:36.520 individual, individual, individual,
00:48:37.920 we're going to end up
00:48:38.620 exactly where the leftists did.
00:48:41.360 We need to defend
00:48:42.840 those institutions
00:48:43.600 that will actually
00:48:44.640 protect us against the state.
00:48:45.860 If we're all just
00:48:46.520 atomized individuals,
00:48:47.520 the state's going to clobber us.
00:48:48.780 We need to protect
00:48:49.440 those institutions
00:48:50.160 that actually defend us.
00:48:51.440 The family,
00:48:52.680 the local community,
00:48:54.780 the state against
00:48:56.620 the federal government.
00:48:57.640 That's what we've got
00:48:58.340 to protect.
00:48:59.300 That's what just won
00:49:00.200 in Virginia.
00:49:01.460 We'll see if we can
00:49:02.320 take that into 2022
00:49:03.340 and 2024
00:49:04.500 and further on out.

00:49:59.980 Today on The Matt Walsh Show,
00:50:00.820 Republican Glenn Youngkin
00:50:01.880 pulled out a stunning victory
00:50:02.920 last night.
00:50:03.400 We'll talk about the lessons
00:50:04.260 that can be learned from it
00:50:05.220 and we'll revel in the
00:50:06.220 hilarious media meltdown
00:50:07.480 that happened today as well.
00:50:08.340 Also,
00:50:08.620 the mother of the boy
00:50:09.320 who raped a girl
00:50:09.920 in Loudoun County
00:50:10.580 has finally spoken out.
00:50:11.980 Her comments are revealing,
00:50:13.240 but perhaps not in the way
00:50:14.200 she intends.
00:50:14.800 Plus,
00:50:15.300 the Kyle Rittenhouse trial
00:50:16.300 kicks off.
00:50:16.880 We'll discuss that.
00:50:17.480 And finally,
00:50:18.220 is it cruel and callous
00:50:19.500 for parents to kick
00:50:20.300 their adult children
00:50:21.100 out of their homes
00:50:21.960 and force them to live
00:50:23.120 on their own?
00:50:23.580 That's what many people
00:50:24.220 seem to think,
00:50:24.880 and we'll talk about that today
00:50:25.680 and so much more
00:50:26.340 on The Matt Walsh Show.
