00:00:37.580
I really, really want to get to Lee and Chrissy Hicks, parents of Yulia Hicks,
00:00:45.160
this 14-year-old girl who needs the kidney transplant.
00:00:51.000
They are parents to 11 children, 8 biological children and 3 adopted children.
00:00:58.580
This is the family that I suspect we all aspire to.
00:01:09.100
And all they are asking is that the medical establishment give their daughter basic treatment.
00:01:19.320
And this medical center, this Duke University Children's Hospital, is behaving in a way that is simply evil.
00:01:28.340
It's just evil to say, yeah, oh, you like that kidney?
00:01:35.520
Take the shot that we lied to you about for two years.
00:01:38.220
Take the shot that has killed people, that has killed a lot of people, actually.
00:01:46.500
Even the medical establishment will admit it in some moments of candor.
00:01:53.600
And take the shot that has, I think, been shown to complicate things such as organ donation.
00:02:03.260
And if you don't do what we tell you to do, we're going to take your kid from you.
00:02:06.980
Lee, Chrissy, thank you for coming on the show.
00:02:12.740
Obviously, you've got my sympathy, and I'm sure it's sympathy for everybody out there.
00:02:17.920
Before we figure out how to fix it, what exactly has Duke been telling you?
00:02:23.980
Well, we've been seen by the Duke doctors for her dialysis for the last two years.
00:02:28.040
Once the COVID vaccine became, I guess, approved for children, I think that was in March last year,
00:02:34.480
they started saying, like, do you want to give her the shot?
00:02:37.000
We kept pushing back and saying, no, we're not going to do the shot.
00:02:40.480
And they would say, well, you're not going to get a transplant without it.
00:02:42.700
And I just kept telling them, well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
00:02:45.560
Let's just focus on doing, you know, dialysis with her.
00:02:58.000
So we've always been pushing back against the shot.
00:03:04.500
Because I remember when the shot first came out, the Fauci's of the world were insisting
00:03:09.380
that everybody get it and then everyone get the second one and everyone get the third one
00:03:12.480
because it was so effective that you had to get like five of them.
00:03:15.260
But then even medical doctors, even people from the big medical establishment institutions
00:03:21.480
came out and admitted, actually, COVID doesn't pose this huge risk to younger people.
00:03:27.780
Actually, some of the vaccines seem to pose a greater risk specifically to younger people
00:03:34.780
This is why the use of the vaccine has been banned places all over the world for people
00:03:43.440
So how do they even look at you with a straight face and say, you're a 14-year-old girl who faces
00:03:52.580
She has to take the shot or we won't give her a kidney.
00:03:58.060
They just tell us that that's where the CDC's recommendation changed in October.
00:04:02.520
And that's when they said, OK, now you're going to have to get the shot.
00:04:06.280
They say it's not a requirement, but it is because they say it's just highly recommended,
00:04:13.280
but you can't get the kidney without getting the vaccination.
00:04:19.340
And up until October, they were doing kidney transplants without the vaccine.
00:04:25.780
We have one of the guys reached out to us and told us he received a kidney without the
00:04:30.700
So it was up until October, this past October, they were doing that.
00:04:33.820
And now all of a sudden, they changed their tone and make it a requirement.
00:04:40.460
They said, you don't get the kidney if you don't get the vaccination.
00:04:45.360
They say it's a recommendation, but it's actually a requirement because the medical centers
00:04:51.560
say, well, we are going to force you to follow all the CDC recommendations.
00:04:55.200
So the CDC gets to get away with saying, no, no, we're not requiring it.
00:04:58.000
But in practice, this is required for everybody.
00:05:00.740
So what is your opposition to your daughter getting the vaccine?
00:05:10.860
I was going to say, can it be all of the above?
00:05:12.420
So we've always requested medical, I mean, religious exemptions for all the vaccines that
00:05:22.320
However, there's just so much evidence mounting about the dangers of this vaccine.
00:05:27.720
I mean, you really have to be blind or turning a blind eye if you don't see how much is happening
00:05:34.620
On top of that, we've done a lot of research on our own and found peer reviewer articles that
00:05:38.360
are showing that there is a higher risk of rejection with solid organ transplant if they've
00:05:44.580
So I guess I would have to say all of the above.
00:05:50.100
But as we were just discussing earlier today, there is now a major attack on religious liberty
00:05:56.480
coming from the Congress and coming from the White House.
00:05:59.220
I mean, this bill that they just signed, the Respect for Marriage Act, effectively prohibits
00:06:03.520
Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and ordinary agnostic people.
00:06:08.360
From refusing to participate in a so-called gay marriage in public life.
00:06:12.580
I mean, though the headline seems to be this is about marriage, it's ultimately really about
00:06:19.080
And that's true in many ways of the COVID vaccine.
00:06:21.780
There are very strong bioethical, religious, moral arguments for not taking this vaccine.
00:06:28.380
And in most areas of public life, you look at the military exemptions, you look at government
00:06:33.240
They try to do it even with private sector exemptions.
00:06:47.680
Well, so there are other children in hospitals in North Carolina that require the same thing
00:06:54.160
You cannot get the kidney transplant without the vaccination, which makes no sense to me.
00:06:57.980
But there are places in Texas and Florida that will do it without.
00:07:00.720
So it's being done in this country without, it's not like we're putting her life in danger
00:07:04.400
by not following the doctors that know how to do transplants.
00:07:10.380
In fact, Duke was doing it just three months ago.
00:07:12.700
They were giving transplants to unvaccinated patients.
00:07:15.560
And now suddenly we are being excluded from that.
00:07:19.260
And we have been finding this mandate other ways, too.
00:07:21.420
So we had to fight the mandate for our kids to go to college without getting the shot.
00:07:24.780
This isn't the first time we've had to fight the mandates.
00:07:31.320
We were the first company to bring this lawsuit that, mercifully, that one we won.
00:07:37.460
Some of the other lawsuits about the military exemptions and all the rest, those did not
00:07:45.020
And we did it because we said, well, what are we going to do?
00:07:47.940
If the government does come down and say, you as a business have to mandate this for
00:07:53.660
your employees, we would have to go along with it or close up shop.
00:07:59.020
There was no other option because the fees could end up being hundreds of thousands of
00:08:05.480
So they could bankrupt the business within two weeks.
00:08:12.540
If we don't have the freedom to choose what we've decided is conjected into our body,
00:08:23.040
Is that ultimately what you're going to have to do?
00:08:24.920
I mean, I can't imagine it's exactly cheap, especially if you've got 11 kids.
00:08:29.620
I can't imagine it's cheap to go post up a home in Texas for however long this process
00:08:37.880
You actually have to apply to these transplant centers.
00:08:39.740
So we're hoping to hear something really soon because we have a lot of donors that have
00:08:43.680
reached out or potential donors that want to be tested to see if they can be Yulia's
00:08:47.580
match, but we can't send them to a medical center.
00:08:52.700
So we have to get a medical center set up so that they can go there and be tested for
00:08:58.200
Yes, it will be very expensive for us to have split ops.
00:09:01.480
That's why we had a friend set up a give, send, go for us.
00:09:04.520
So that's give, send, go.com backslash kidney for Yulia.
00:09:12.060
And also, I just want to say too, that when we got the microphone, I don't know why we
00:09:16.540
got the microphone because there's a lot of people in the same situation, but we want
00:09:23.380
And so many families have reached out to us already.
00:09:25.700
We've been able to connect them, let them know which medical centers they need to reach
00:09:29.740
out to, to try to get their loved ones transplants as well.
00:09:32.520
So that's give, send, go.com slash kidney for Yulia with a Y, Y-U-L-I-A.
00:09:42.580
We also have a website, yuliagrace.com, and that's where people can contact us if they
00:09:47.080
want to be a potential donor or if they, you know, if there's other medical centers that
00:09:53.400
We are hoping this one in Florida works out, but we're still have to wait and see.
00:10:10.920
There's something else that I want to do, though, which is I want to punish Duke for what
00:10:14.600
I think, actually, it's not enough just to help the people who have clearly been victimized
00:10:19.580
here, but you need to make sure that this is not permitted to continue into the future.
00:10:23.360
We were talking earlier on the show about retribution, and I think Duke deserves some serious justice
00:10:32.840
And so from a political standpoint, how do we stop medical centers from doing this?
00:10:39.840
So we have retained a lawyer, Mike Yoder, and he is working that right now, punitive damages
00:10:49.320
So that's what we're trying to do right now to help to hold Duke accountable for this
00:10:55.820
But people can call Duke if they want to as well and let their opinions be known.
00:10:59.420
But we just ask that there's no foul language used or any death threats.
00:11:05.120
But for Duke to understand that we're not alone.
00:11:07.680
There's other people in this country that also agree with what we're doing.
00:11:12.940
You've got to make sure that when you engage in these political actions, you don't give
00:11:18.640
the leftists the opportunity to paint you as a terrorist or all the way that they ordinarily
00:11:26.140
Though conservatives don't really need to be told this.
00:11:28.580
I think conservatives generally know this, but it's always good to repeat.
00:11:32.180
Because I remember not that long ago here in Nashville, we discovered that Vanderbilt Children's
00:11:38.260
Hospital was performing transgender procedures on little kids.
00:11:46.860
And we discovered this and we found out people just didn't really know about it.
00:11:54.040
My colleague Matt Walsh has made the transgender issue something of a hobby horse of his and
00:11:59.740
So he just published a Twitter thread with the research that The Daily Wire had compiled.
00:12:04.200
And the moment we shed a light on this, like within days, the Vanderbilt University just
00:12:12.860
And I just suspect if people in North Carolina, taxpayers, donors even to Duke medical, politicians
00:12:20.100
who have a lot to say about the conduct here, if they just knew that this was happening,
00:12:25.500
I cannot imagine how it would be tolerated for much longer.
00:12:31.440
We have had a couple of legislators reach out to us, but we've heard no more from them.
00:12:36.040
I hope that something does happen that route as well.
00:12:39.200
How is your daughter doing through all of this?
00:12:43.260
She, I said on other interviews too, she's the most amazing little girl.
00:12:49.920
I mean, she's been through so much, but she just pushes through with a smile on her face.
00:12:54.820
She's always happy, always wanting to help, so involved with all the other kids in the family.
00:13:09.640
But, so the first family, I met them in Ukraine in 2018.
00:13:19.940
And there was another family that adopted them here in North Carolina.
00:13:25.640
They sent her to Arizona to another family to potentially adopt her.
00:13:30.740
So they were on a plane back to North Carolina.
00:13:33.400
And the family here that had recently adopted her was not able to go pick them up at the airport.
00:13:41.000
Because I knew who they were, her and her brother.
00:13:45.740
And we thought we were going to be keeping them for a weekend just to kind of figure out what we were going to, you know,
00:13:49.580
who was going to adopt them or what we were going to do in the next steps.
00:13:52.300
And we ended up being the family that they ended up going to.
00:14:05.980
I think as just a matter of biology, I'm not quite sure we could get up to eight biological children,
00:14:13.540
Now, your family size is unusual by today's standards.
00:14:18.580
But by modern liberal society standards, it certainly is.
00:14:22.460
What has impelled you to have such a large family?
00:14:30.960
But my husband was military, and we traveled around the world.
00:14:34.140
And our oldest son kept praying for a brother, and they just kept coming.
00:14:43.960
Like, our life is crazy and chaotic and amazing and beautiful.
00:14:49.000
And you mentioned your military service, so thank you for your service.
00:14:53.420
It even drives home the point further than it already was.
00:14:57.940
In political stories, sometimes the details are kind of complicated, and these are nuanced issues and questions.
00:15:05.720
And sometimes it's just pretty clear who the good guys are and the bad guys are.
00:15:12.600
And I mean, if you took this story to a Hollywood producer, and you said, hey, I got this story about a family, military veterans, you know, big loving family, adopted children, a poor little girl who needs a kidney transplant.
00:15:27.100
And then a bunch of doctors who, out of a vindictive, spiteful tyranny, are demanding that she inject herself with a dangerous drug or they won't give her her kidney.
00:15:42.740
You know what the Hollywood producer would say?
00:15:44.040
The producer would say, come on, it's a little too on the nose.
00:15:46.560
Come on, let's make it a little more realistic here, okay?
00:15:55.620
We joke with Julia all the time that she should write her autobiography.
00:16:02.180
She's a ferocious reader, and she does write books.
00:16:05.400
You mentioned other families who are in a similar position.
00:16:09.140
Have any of them reached out to you as a result of the publicity that you're going to do?
00:16:12.140
Yes, there's one little boy who's only two years old in South Carolina, and they will not give him a transplant either without the vaccine, which is unconscionable to me.
00:16:24.380
We were trying to get him to another medical institute, and he's trying to fight the tyranny down there in South Carolina as well.
00:16:30.400
I didn't even know the vaccine was approved for two-year-olds, much less that they would mandate it.
00:16:39.160
I think the CDC is now recommending down to six months old for this vaccine.
00:16:49.600
What's amazing about it, too, I mean, you say that, obviously, you're a religious family.
00:16:54.820
God is at the center of so much that has happened in your family.
00:17:05.780
And you would just think that after two years of the experts in the lab coats being proven wrong,
00:17:14.380
and in some cases being proven to have lied about and to have been negligent about this virus and this vaccine repeatedly,
00:17:26.060
time and time again, on the safety, on the efficacy, on the way that the technology would even work,
00:17:33.800
on what the virus is, on where the virus came from, on how to stop getting the virus,
00:17:42.220
They might have just a little bit of humility and loosen their grip and their demands just a little bit.
00:17:48.360
But it seems that it's only gone in the opposite direction.
00:17:50.540
It seems that they've only clamped down even further.
00:17:54.100
I really feel like it's a power struggle at this point.
00:17:56.680
Like, they want their way, and we're not going to do it.
00:18:00.220
So then they're going to withhold what we need.
00:18:01.860
Have you raised a significant amount of money yet to be able to afford going to Texas or Florida?
00:18:10.500
People have been very much, I mean, we're overwhelmed by the generosity of perfect strangers.
00:18:16.680
And the words of encouragement that have come to us, it's been amazing.
00:18:20.120
There have been some nasty comments, but I would say it's 10 to 1 in support of us.
00:18:23.980
Of course, I can't even imagine who the nasty comments are from.
00:18:26.560
Maybe it's just Dr. Fauci with his pseudonymous accounts or something, you know.
00:18:29.700
A lot of times they don't give their real email.
00:18:31.900
It's just like a made-up email, and there's a lot of foul language, you know.
00:18:40.480
I mean, I just think from the beginning, especially of this whole COVID operation,
00:18:45.920
there has been this concerted effort, not only to force people to comply with their absurd demands,
00:18:59.380
And, you know, that's so much about what you will comply, I think, ultimately came down to,
00:19:05.060
is that there were people who didn't, had religious objections to the vaccine,
00:19:08.860
who just knew because they had good guts and common sense that there was probably something
00:19:13.460
a little bit weird about this experimental drug that was concocted in five minutes
00:19:20.300
But because they, you know, they just didn't want to, they couldn't lose their job.
00:19:24.560
Some people, they just couldn't lose their job, or they couldn't say no,
00:19:26.760
or they were in the military, or they can't, for whatever reason, they just went,
00:19:35.100
Like, we really just are leading on God, and he's carrying us through this.
00:19:39.100
We joke that we never know what our life is going to be from day to day,
00:19:45.360
But we really feel like we are doing what is right and good, and we'll just keep clinging to that.
00:19:53.500
You, I'm pleased to see, have not been discouraged.
00:19:56.360
And your story is a great encouragement to a lot, a lot of other people,
00:20:01.020
because everyone's been up against some pressure during the COVID regime.
00:20:07.960
Very few people have been up against the kind of pressure that you were up against,
00:20:10.960
and you've stood firm, and people have come out to help, and people are standing with you.
00:20:15.120
So please, head on over if you are so inclined.
00:20:18.280
This is when people start, you know, writing checks anyway before New Year's Eve.
00:20:34.760
Lee, Chrissy, thank you both for coming on the show.
00:20:37.360
We'll keep you in our prayers and hope to see a happy outcome sooner rather than later.
00:20:43.420
Thank you so much, and thanks for telling our story.
