Summary

BC United and the BC Conservatives have finally figured out who should be the main opposition party in British Columbia, and now David Eby is actually facing a real challenger. Is it the BC Liberals or the BC Tories?

Transcript

00:00:00.000 No doubt the most confused man in Canada this morning was British Columbia Premier David Eby, who had gotten very used to knowing that he wasn't even going to have to campaign for re-election in this next provincial election in British Columbia.
00:00:14.400 He got used to 21, 18, 28% leads over his opponents in the province, but this morning a new Main Street Research poll dropped showing that now the BC NDP are only leading the BC Conservatives by 6 points.
00:00:29.960 You can even see in the last Angus Reid poll they were up 21, in Research Co 21, and in Polara they were up all the way in front by 28 points.
00:00:39.360 That is an incredible lead, and now this is an incredibly fast shrink to their lead.
00:00:44.260 What's really going on here, and this is the poll more in detail, is that the BC Conservatives and the BC United have finally figured out who should be the main opposition party in British Columbia.
00:00:55.400 You see, if you don't know this, especially if you don't live in the province of British Columbia, for the longest time British Columbia was the province of social credit, just the way Alberta had been the province of social credit.
00:01:06.820 And because the social credit party was a big tent party that you really couldn't peg on a political spectrum, when it finally collapsed in the early 90s, basically nobody knew really where to go on the right.
00:01:19.860 And so what we had was all the people on the Conservative right just joining the BC Liberal Party, and the BC Liberal Party became a little bit more of a big tent party than the federal Liberals are.
00:01:31.020 There's room for effectively red Tories and moderate Conservatives within the BC Liberals.
00:01:36.760 But since the BC Liberals and Christy Clark got thrown out of the provincial government and John Horgan took over, and now David Abbey replacing John Horgan, the BC Liberals' brand is complete mud.
00:01:49.260 And that's not just their own fault. It's also the fault of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau making the BC Liberals' brand association look awful.
00:01:58.480 So that has led the BC Liberal Party to rebrand themselves now as the BC United, which is a horrible name.
00:02:06.720 Like, BC United immediately just feels limp. Like, nobody cares. Like, we aren't even trying anymore. We are BC United. We are the BC Apathy Party.
00:02:15.300 And now, because everyone kind of knows they're just another lefty party and there's no room left for Conservatives in that party,
00:02:22.680 the BC Conservative Party, which had been on life support since back when the Social Credit Party was around,
00:02:28.380 finally had a massive resurgence when John Rusted crossed the floor and joined it and actually became its leader,
00:02:34.800 who actually has a seat in the provincial legislature.
00:02:37.880 And since then, that happened a little bit more like than a year and a half ago or so.
00:02:41.900 Since then, there's been kind of a jockeying for position between the BC Cons and BC United.
00:02:47.420 Although the United has a lot more seats than the Cons, who only have two seats due to floor crossings,
00:02:52.900 right now the BC United is utterly collapsing because, well, if you're a lefty voter, you might as well go vote for the MVP.
00:03:00.080 And if you're on the right, you should go vote for the BC Conservatives.
00:03:03.140 And so they're looking a lot like the PC Party under Kim Campbell federally in 1993.
00:03:09.180 It's kind of the party for nobody.
00:03:11.480 And now, David Eby is actually going to have a real challenger.
00:03:15.420 And the bad thing for David Eby is that David Eby is completely unused to actually having a legitimate opponent.
00:03:21.480 He actually hasn't had to compete really against anybody.
00:03:23.960 And so he has passed just pants-on-head crazy laws over the past two years.
00:03:29.540 He has been pushing for more drug decriminalization, more safe supply, all of this crazy nonsense,
00:03:35.860 and defending his provincial carbon tax to the death.
00:03:39.540 Most provinces in Canada have the federal carbon tax because they refused as provinces to pass their own.
00:03:45.300 And so Justin Trudeau forced a carbon tax on them.
00:03:47.780 And now, BC Premier David Eby is now getting into fights with conservative federal leader Pierre Polyev
00:03:54.540 because Polyev obviously wants to get rid of the federal carbon tax and is putting pressure on David Eby
00:04:00.940 because it's just a smart political move, demanding that he remove the provincial carbon tax when the time comes.
00:04:07.440 David Eby thinks he can score points against Polyev.
00:04:11.540 And so he's been defending what is really an actual boat anchor on David Eby's popularity.
00:04:16.940 His own carbon tax, because he thinks that it will somehow help him to fight with Polyev.
00:04:23.080 Again, David Eby was never that popular.
00:04:25.360 Yes, you'll find BC, like the premier popularity polls showing he's one of the most popular in the country.
00:04:31.280 But again, that's because he had no opposition.
00:04:33.420 Now that John Rusted and the BC conservatives are becoming a real opposition,
00:04:37.860 now David Eby's in trouble because he's been embracing absolutely stupid policies.
00:04:42.560 He's been tying himself to a burning log and thinking that it didn't matter what he did,
00:04:47.540 the BC conservatives and United were going to fight each other and that it was just going to be a fight for second place.
00:04:52.880 Now it's a fight for first place and David Eby's having to own sky-high crime, sky-high drug death rates, and crazy high taxes.
00:05:00.600 Now, if he backs off, he's just going to give credence to the fact that the BC conservatives would be even better.
00:05:06.740 So now all he has left is doubling down and hoping that by just simply ignoring the problems,
00:05:12.200 he can convince people that it's actually much better in British Columbia than it really is.
00:05:16.880 British Columbia is a basket case when it comes to housing prices.
00:05:20.120 It's the worst in the country.
00:05:21.660 It's the worst in the country when it comes to drug addiction.
00:05:24.720 It is the worst in the country in a lot of ways when it comes to crime.
00:05:27.660 Look at Vancouver's east side.
00:05:30.020 All the BC conservatives have to do, and I encourage anyone watching this who's in British Columbia,
00:05:34.280 vote for the BC conservatives.
00:05:35.760 I don't care if, well, the United right now has a better chance in my area.
00:05:39.640 By election day, they will not.
00:05:41.160 Just back the conservatives, donate to them, support them, volunteer for them.
00:05:44.620 The BC conservatives should make their entire platform cutting drug use, cutting crime, and cutting taxes.
00:05:53.320 You can even simplify it.
00:05:54.620 Just cut crime, cut taxes.
00:05:56.300 That is it.
00:05:56.960 I don't like when conservatives try and, you know, tinker too much with their platform.
00:06:01.680 And the BC conservatives have.
00:06:02.800 They've actually been quite focused.
00:06:04.440 I don't like when you see conservative campaigns, especially when you have simply saying,
00:06:07.640 well, we're going to give you a little bit of a tax credit here,
00:06:09.880 and we'll do a community, a sort of reinvestment effort over here,
00:06:13.580 and we'll have some sort of subsidies for this industry,
00:06:16.640 but we'll act more fiscally conservative over here.
00:06:18.720 No, no, no.
00:06:19.600 Cut taxes, cut crime, and end gender theory in the classroom.
00:06:23.940 Those are the three things.
00:06:25.140 I just had that third one, and I just remembered it.
00:06:27.260 Those are the three things if you are running a party in British Columbia or even federally in Canada.
00:06:31.760 If you run on those three things in the current climate in Canada, you will win.
00:06:36.520 Do not overcomplicate it.
00:06:38.240 Kiss.
00:06:38.640 Keep it simple, sweetheart.
00:06:40.140 Just do that.
00:06:41.160 So I am happy to see David Eby is actually at risk of losing this next election,
00:06:45.820 and if you're in British Columbia, vote for the conservatives,
00:06:48.740 and make sure you keep everyone focused on the issue of crime, taxes, and gender theory.
00:06:54.380 David Eby will not have an easy time getting reelected if these three things become the referendum of the election,
00:07:01.100 the referendum issues.
00:07:02.760 Anyways, that should be it for me today.
00:07:05.060 Shameless plug.
00:07:05.920 I do not live in British Columbia, but I do live in Calgary, and I, Wyatt Claypool,
00:07:11.260 I'm running for the Calgary Signal Hill Federal Conservative Party nomination.
00:07:15.620 So if you live on the west side of Calgary, buy a Federal Conservative Party membership,
00:07:19.640 and check out my website, WyattClaypool.com.
00:07:22.560 If you're on the west side of Calgary, first make sure you actually live in the boundaries.
00:07:25.840 These are what the new boundaries of the riding will look like.
00:07:28.060 And also, you can donate to the legal fund for the National Telegraph,
00:07:33.140 and myself were being sued by a ridiculous billionaire developer from China for defamation.
00:07:38.980 Defamation he cannot prove, and his deposition went horrible
00:07:42.280 because he actually couldn't even prove that he threatened to sue the people
00:07:46.380 that we primarily referenced for every source that we had,
00:07:49.960 for all the things that we'd said about him.
00:07:51.660 We barely said anything about him.
00:07:52.860 We just hyperlinked to a Globe and Mail article,
00:07:54.840 and I guess that means we've defamed him because we referenced a year-and-a-half-old
00:07:59.060 Globe and Mail article that he apparently never was bothered enough by
00:08:02.760 to even send in a libel notice, or at least he hasn't proven to us yet
00:08:06.620 that he sent in a libel notice, and he was supposed to prove that since back in September.
00:08:11.260 Anyway, sorry, short little legal update for you guys if you watch the channel
00:08:14.480 and you want to know what's going on.
00:08:16.180 I've sent in my undertaking so they know all the additional information they want from me,
00:08:20.880 and that is pretty much it.
00:08:22.960 Have a good one, everyone. Bye.
