00:00:00.000Hey guys, I almost didn't find enough time to make a video today in the between all the campaigning I'm doing in British Columbia, but I have found a moment and I wanted to talk about Mark Carney's speech at the Forever Canada event in Calgary, stumping against independents.
00:00:18.200Now, I'm not an independent supporter, but the thing I found just so messed up about the event that I wanted to talk about more after I had seen sort of Danielle Smith's reaction at the Canada Strong and Free event on stage with Rick Bell is just how sort of unkind Mark Carney is over this entire thing with Danielle Smith.
00:00:38.240He's basically trying to do the same thing that Nahid Nenshi and Mayor Jeremy Farkas and Andrew Knack from Calgary and Edmonton respectively are doing.
00:00:48.200He's trying to make this a whole, why did Daniel Smith do to us, this to us type narrative.
00:00:53.860The whole idea is that you must now vote no to the nine.
00:00:57.800Vote no to all of the referendum questions, even though a bunch of them are policy questions.
00:01:03.820Do you think the Alberta government should handle, you know, immigration this way or insurance or other aspects that sort of touch on Alberta's provincial sovereignty?
00:01:12.740and should we be trying to wrest more control to the provincial level and away from the federal level.
00:01:18.900Now, this is not unique because so many of these things, provinces like Quebec and Ontario, have more control over,
00:01:24.760and so it's perfectly appropriate and, if anything, noble that Daniel Smith and the UCP government actually want to put this to a vote
00:01:33.220so they have a mandate to change these things rather than just doing it and then telling everyone to deal with it.
00:01:39.060But Mark Carney, Jeremy Farkas, Naheed Nenshi, Andrew Knack, they're all acting as if somehow she has wrong-footed not only Alberta but all of Canada by having these votes.
00:01:52.280Now, Mark Carney has never explicitly attacked her, but it's more so that he's acting as if simply having this referendum in the first place has been some sort of a negative thing.
00:02:03.740It's been an attack on Canada. That's why you must vote no to the nine, which is the slogan that has been basically pioneered to try and punish Danielle Smith, I guess would be the best way of putting it.
00:02:15.440The whole idea is that you shouldn't be taking any of the questions seriously simply because you don't like the independence question on the ballot, which is only there for democratic reasons.
00:02:26.580People got the signatures, it's on the ballot, of course it is.
00:02:30.180But all these opponents of Danielle Smith and the UCP have been pushing this whole line that, you know, she hasn't been defending Alberta and defending the idea of Canada enough by not cancelling the vote.
00:02:42.380okay so what kind of country do we live in if you're just going to cancel the vote
00:02:47.280if you don't like the movement behind it because by the way it's going to fail i'm not saying this
00:02:52.940in a dismissive way to the independence people there's lots of pro-independence people who watch
00:02:56.640the channel i appreciate all their perspectives but obviously just the polling isn't really there
00:03:02.280the support levels in suburban alberta are not there for independence but the the no side the
00:03:08.880people's side that is sort of represented by forever canada again i guess i'm against independence
00:03:14.760but i don't consider myself part of like the nay saying no side they have taken this idea that
00:03:20.740because danielle smith did not break her promise to have these citizen petitions allow to allow for
00:03:28.220referendum questions get on the ballot because she did not shut it down and stop the question
00:03:32.760from even going forward to a vote that she now must be punished in the next provincial election
00:03:37.660because that's what people like Jeremy Farkas are pushing for a man who barely became the mayor of
00:03:43.720Calgary pretending he was fiscally conservative he is now going to be jacking up taxes over the
00:03:49.460next four years and he wants you to be mad at Danielle Smith that she's having this referendum
00:03:54.860question put to voters because enough people signed the petitions for it both the forever
00:03:59.800Canada people as well as the Alberta Prosperity Project or I forget the exact group yeah it was
00:04:06.000forever Alberta or yeah forever Alberta or something like that not forever Alberta was
00:04:11.880something else but you guys get my point they're like two organizations got enough signatures to
00:04:16.400get this thing on the ballot and she was supposed to undemocratically shut it down to defend Canada
00:04:22.780I thought that Mark Carney in his own speech talked about how great Canada is because we allow
00:04:28.580for freedom of speech and freedom of religion and conscience and all this stuff and yet we are
00:04:36.180somehow we are pushing this idea that it's bad to even have this put to a vote and ergo you should
00:04:42.280vote against all nine questions on the ballot just to punish danielle smith danielle has been
00:04:49.320extremely gracious in working with mark carney working with his long timeline to get the pacific
00:04:55.300uplink pipeline done honestly it's still way too long the timeline he's put forward to getting the
00:05:01.280whole thing built it's saying it's going to be like eight to ten years to get the thing complete
00:05:05.600when in another country it'd be two to three danielle smith has been willing to smile along
00:05:10.300with the project move it downfield knowing that yes it's probably going to cost too much it's
00:05:15.400probably going to take too long but that's what the cost of working with the federal government
00:05:19.100is like and you need them to get it done she's been willing to go along and what does he do to
00:05:23.720goes to a Forever Canada event that is an anti-Daniel Smith front group and denounce all
00:05:29.520nine questions on the ballot after she has moved heaven and earth, taken the most political risks
00:05:34.760to partner with him and the federal liberal government on a pipeline. No good deed goes
00:05:40.580unpunished in Canadian politics. It's absolutely ridiculous just how, I guess, sleazy Mark Carney0.89
00:05:48.640has been in the midst of all this. He's aligning himself with Nahid Nenshi. I'm wondering if he
00:05:53.020wants Naheed to win the next provincial election just to throw another wrench in getting the
00:05:58.500pipeline built. Menchie pretends he wants to get the pipeline built, but he's always been very
00:06:02.180anti-oil and gas, anti-pipeline. The big city mayors in Alberta are lining up against Danielle
00:06:08.020Smith, and this is also why people who are part of the independence movement who are annoyed
00:06:13.540Danielle Smith did not do more for them, they need to get realistic. Guys, she even made sure
00:06:19.460to put the question on the ballot despite a judge trying to block it. The judge was going to block1.00
00:06:25.000it for so long that even though the challenge her decision was overturned it would have blocked it
00:06:30.560long enough it wouldn't have been legally able to get on the ballot. Danielle Smith made sure0.99
00:06:34.880something was on the ballot akin to what the independence people wanted despite the fact
00:06:40.040that the courts were moving against it. She has bent over backwards for the independence movement
00:06:44.520not because she's pro-independence but just because she has a commitment to democracy and
00:06:48.600making sure that you can have your democratic right to vote. Now, don't punish her next year0.97
00:06:54.280by then saying, well, I'm done with Danielle Smith, and I'm done with voting for the UCP,
00:06:58.660because, well, we didn't get the independence vote, so what's the point anymore? The point is
00:07:03.880to keep out the people in the NDP who hate your guts, who will never let your movement get off
00:07:09.760the ground, and who will also just make life worse in a variety of ways. This is not a British0.87
00:07:14.780columbia scenario where the bc conservatives are just genuinely so corrupt and so full of liberals0.68
00:07:21.480you can't vote for them the ucp generally does a pretty good job they're generally small c
00:07:26.100conservatives they have a lot of socially conservative values in the party pro-parental
00:07:30.000rights lowering taxes cutting regulations getting projects done and started they're doing a good job
00:07:37.340so the whole idea that we then would punish them because danielle smith didn't do even more for you0.98
00:07:44.660even though she was already out on a limb doing all the stuff, taking all these attacks from her0.78
00:07:49.440left flank, that is foolish and I think that it ends up becoming extremely ungrateful for all the0.94
00:07:55.840things that she has done. She takes a lot of slings and arrows on issues and to then have EDAs around0.99
00:08:01.940Alberta trying to move against her and trying to call for a new leadership review for some vague1.00
00:08:07.560idea that she's betrayed her own people, no guys. I am somebody who actually was very willing to
00:08:14.280criticized danielle smith and the ucp a few years ago and it didn't change once i wanted to run for
00:08:18.760a ucp nomination in curry the only reason i wanted to run for one is because the ucp after 2024
00:08:24.800started really getting stuff done in 2025 and it's continued since then they started lowering taxes
00:08:29.380getting the parental their parental rights bills out i thought it's all been quite good and that's
00:08:34.440why i moved back over but i'm my point is i'm saying all this is not somebody who says no no
00:08:39.780know never criticize parties always just stick to the establishment line i never do that i say
00:08:45.280whatever the heck i want and that's why i'm saying this today that people have to realize that there
00:08:50.180is a movement to destroy the ucp and smith and you will get premier naheed nenshi next year if the
00:08:56.960left can try and split the ucp in half over the independence issue that let's be clear is going
00:09:02.920to get like 25 support on october 19th and i really don't think that that is worth trying to
00:09:09.100tip over the apple cart over okay try it again in 10 years try and get more support the problem is
00:09:16.560the independence movement did not figure out what suburban voters wanted it basically almost kind of
00:09:21.580naysayed anyone who wasn't already on board some people had concerns about independence that were
00:09:26.380not realistic some people like myself i think have more realistic concerns it just didn't happen
00:09:31.140and i'm not trying to say like well now just forget about all those things and never talk about again
00:09:35.920you can talk about it you can keep funding uh like third-party advertisers that push the idea
00:09:41.200and try to educate people try it absolutely the thing is let's not then have that cannibalize
00:09:47.440the ucp and live in an even worse world where the ndp are in charge when the ucp are already
00:09:52.880doing things to increase alberta's sovereignty if you need 100 of what you want or else you're
00:09:58.080going to go home that's kind of a on you problem at that point anyways so just wanted to do this
00:10:04.800little check-in on the whole Mark Carney versus Danielle Smith issue again she's done so much for
00:10:11.880Mark Carney to even normalize him in Alberta not that that's her goal but treating him very nicely
00:10:17.780even though he's a liberal representing the government that's been stymieing Alberta for so
00:10:21.260long she's given him so many chances been so pliable on the pipeline issue putting up with
00:10:27.340his long timelines and the consultations and everything and then he comes to Alberta and
00:10:32.300then says no to the nine gets up on an anti-Daniel Smith platform in order to stump against
00:10:38.800independence in a way that makes it seem like it's a giant boogeyman that Daniel Smith has
00:10:43.480unleashed on us rather than it's a democratic movement who put something on the ballot and
00:10:48.140the votes are going to be the votes on the 19th and then we all move on anyways so with all that
00:10:53.620being said thank you guys for watching make sure to like share subscribe and I'll see you all later
