00:00:00.000 Prime Minister Mark Carney is once again playing political games.
00:00:04.600 This morning, he announced six new federal by-elections that will be taking place on December 7th.
00:00:10.760 At the same time, he also announced,
00:00:13.100 Hey, I just had a phone call with President Donald Trump,
00:00:16.360 and a potential trade deal with the United States is back on the table.
00:00:20.680 He's saying this because over the past few months, he has not had any real wins,
00:00:25.340 and in fact, Canada has been experiencing negative job growth,
00:00:28.880 and our overall GDP growth for the year has been heavily ratcheted down.
00:00:34.120 And so he needs to pretend that there might be light on the other end of that tunnel
00:00:38.420 by suddenly saying, hey, I had a call with President Trump
00:00:41.360 and maybe I am the guy to get a trade deal with the United States
00:00:44.240 because remember, this is what was really his main thing he ran on
00:00:48.100 during the 2025 federal election.
00:00:50.460 I can get a good deal with the Americans and I've dealt with Donald Trump before.
00:00:54.100 He also happens to be trying to cover up his really bad Politico interview
00:00:57.960 from a few days ago when he had said effectively he was willing to wait until trump is no longer
00:01:03.560 president and then he'll maybe try and get a trade deal if you're a business liberal who voted for
00:01:09.080 the federal liberals in the last election you don't want to hear that you might be a default
00:01:14.360 liberal voter but if carney's not serious about getting a trade deal your investments are going
00:01:19.080 like this right now in canada and you may actually go and vote for the conservatives since carney
00:01:24.200 seems to not actually take this job very seriously if he's completely abandoned his main promise he
00:01:30.280 made in the last federal election campaign. But in just a second here, I want to go through the
00:01:35.240 six by-election writings with you guys, talk about Mark Carney's announcement that he's talking to
00:01:40.440 Donald Trump again, and then also talk about the way the media is already trying to cover the
00:01:45.560 by-elections in an anti-conservative way. But before we get into it, I just want to remind you
00:01:51.020 guys. If you like the show, make sure to leave a like on the video. Subscribe if you are not yet
00:01:56.300 a subscriber. I'm trying to get to 100,000 subscribers before the end of the year. So
00:02:01.000 check if you're subscribed. And if you're not, please hit that subscribe button. And if you
00:02:05.300 want to help the channel more, you can also hit the join button if you want to contribute a few
00:02:09.280 dollars a month to make the channel more sustainable for me. But now, without further
00:02:13.360 ado, let's get to the very short announcement that came out this morning that the Prime Minister
00:02:18.040 is calling these by-elections for December 7th.
00:02:21.280 So it says here,
00:02:22.600 Today the Prime Minister, Mark Carney,
00:02:25.120 announced that by-elections will be held
00:02:26.900 on December 7th, 2026
00:02:28.900 in the following electoral districts.
00:02:31.980 Brantford, Brant South,
00:02:33.680 Laurier, St. Marie,
00:02:35.320 Rosemont, La Petite Petrie,
00:02:38.280 St.
00:02:39.020 I can't actually pronounce this one at all.
00:02:41.720 I even looked up how to pronounce it
00:02:42.900 and it was just mystifying to me.
00:02:44.360 But that was a Bloc Quebecois held riding
00:02:46.300 before the guy resigned.
00:02:48.040 Scarborough North, and Yorkton-Melville. So let us talk about the least interesting ridings and
00:02:56.580 then we will be talking about the most interesting ridings. I'll just zoom in here so you can see the
00:03:00.960 names a little bit better. Yorkton-Melville is not interesting at all. It was the riding of
00:03:06.580 Kathy Wagenthal in Saskatchewan, a very good pro-life conservative MP. This is going to go
00:03:13.260 conservative. There's no way that this one goes liberal. It's conservative farmland. None of
00:03:19.720 these people culturally will ever consider voting conservative. The guy who apparently is the
00:03:25.000 conservative candidate riding is also very good, a pro-life conservative. So a great replacement
00:03:30.120 for Kathy Wagenthal. Next, Scarborough North. Liberal held riding. It was, I think, that Sean
00:03:37.840 Chen guy who pretended he had such a bad back injury, he had to step out of office, and then
00:03:43.040 he ran for council for some reason. I'm not sure if he won or anything, but it's Scarborough. It's
00:03:47.460 going liberal. It's just the voting culture around there. It's not going to change anytime soon.
00:03:52.860 This Saint-something-something-bagot-acton riding, that riding is Bloc Québécois held before the MP
00:04:01.100 stepped down. Last election, the Bloc won it by about 10%. I think they're probably going to
00:04:07.180 recapture it considering the PQ did so well in the provincial election and PSPP is now the new
00:04:14.740 premier of Quebec. That's probably going to result in the Bloc Québécois being able to hold that.
00:04:19.880 Rosemont-Le Petit Petrie, this was actually an NDP held riding in Quebec, the only NDP held
00:04:27.440 riding in Quebec after the 2025 federal election. Now, the MP who ended up stepping down in order
00:04:34.640 to run in the provincial election in Quebec got elected under the banner of Quebec Solidaire.
00:04:40.800 That's Quebec's orange-colored party.
00:04:42.860 That's actually even to the left of the NDP.
00:04:45.480 If the Quebec Solidaire-type voters come out for the replacement for the outgoing NDP MP,
00:04:55.560 they'll potentially be able to capture that riding again,
00:04:58.340 but it's a riding that could get pulled in a few different directions.
00:05:01.220 I actually assume that they will be able to hold the area because the Liberals are kind of on a bit of a downstroke nationally, but especially in Quebec, and if the riding was already occupied by a non-Liberal option, I suspect the voters are mostly just going to stick with that party, just as I think they're also going to stick with the Bloc Quebecois in the other riding.
00:05:24.000 But now we are getting into some of the more interesting ridings, Laurier St. Marie. You will know this riding as the Montreal riding that was previously held by Stephen Guibault. Now, the Liberals are actually putting up a former Desjardins CEO as their candidate, something Hormier. I don't remember the man's name. It's probably a good candidate overall, you know, someone with high business pedigree.
00:05:50.680 I'm wondering, though, with the more left-wing culture of that riding, running a CEO of an insurance company is not actually going to be the best possible choice.
00:06:01.500 It'll be interesting to see what happens now that Guibo left because the party was not being green enough,
00:06:08.000 and if that's going to hurt them and bleed support over to both the MVP as well as the Bloc Quebecois,
00:06:14.720 who in fact is a very greeny party overall too, despite the fact that they're also nationalistic.
00:06:21.140 The Bloc Quebecois makes so little sense in many ways.
00:06:23.600 But the main event in the by-elections is Brantford-Brant-South.
00:06:29.360 This writing was held by the Conservatives, and their MP up until recently was Larry Brock.
00:06:36.720 Now, there has been internal drama over the fact the party appointed a candidate.
00:06:41.260 He was, I believe, the former mayor of Brantford or Brant or whatever, I don't know.
00:06:47.300 Apparently, a lot of people were upset that he was appointed over another candidate who I believe is actually running as an independent in this election.
00:06:55.160 A lot of people are saying that it's kind of the leadership test riding of Pierre Polyev.
00:07:01.860 If the conservatives can hold this riding, it can stay blue, then he can stay on his leader.
00:07:07.620 If it goes liberal, then Pierre Polyev may get ousted by the caucus.
00:07:13.140 Is that fair? Is it not fair?
00:07:15.440 I don't really know. At the end of the day, perception is reality.
00:07:18.460 If people perceive it to be a leadership test of Pierre Polyev,
00:07:21.560 the conservatives really have to rip the hinges off all the doors and make sure the conservative
00:07:26.880 candidate gets across the finish line. Now, I don't really want to get into the drama of
00:07:31.240 who they appointed and who they ended up upsetting with it. I'm not the biggest fan of appointments.
00:07:36.420 I think you should always hold a nomination race if available. Again, I'm not usually one who likes
00:07:42.160 appointments or, you know, when nominations get skewed as I was actually kicked out of a federal
00:07:47.280 nomination at one point in my life at the end of the day though um i'm not really going to get into
00:07:52.820 all that but if the conservatives don't hold on to it then they might actually have to do some
00:07:58.160 searching about what's turning people off about the party right now what's causing them to lack
00:08:03.360 momentum and so polyev cannot take this writing for granted and should be campaigning hard to
00:08:09.100 ensure that the conservatives are able to hold on to it and that the media perception the public
00:08:13.700 perception that the conservatives are on shaky ground right now doesn't end up sinking him and
00:08:18.840 his leadership. But anyways, now we need to move on to talking about Mark Carney's phone call with
00:08:25.420 Donald Trump. This was so suspicious that he came out with this because, again, yesterday we had the
00:08:31.900 Politico interview drop where he said that he was willing to wait until Donald Trump was no longer
00:08:37.380 president in order to get a trade deal signed, which is, as you may remember, not at all what
00:08:42.940 he campaigned on during the 2025 federal election. He was the guy to get a trade deal real quick,
00:08:48.520 it's going to be a great trade deal, and you know I can get it because I know how to negotiate and
00:08:52.660 use diplomacy or whatever, and I've dealt with Donald Trump before. Well, that's been proven to
00:08:57.580 not be true at all, and even if he gets a good deal in the next little bit here, he probably
00:09:02.720 could have gotten something better a year and a half ago. It's been so much waiting and so much
00:09:06.700 damage to the Canadian economy, watching this guy fart around pretending like he's some negotiating
00:09:11.900 guru to not have gotten anything done. So even if he gets something done, I'm wondering how much
00:09:17.220 damage could have been mitigated if he just moved faster last year. But now let's get into what he
00:09:23.400 says here. But obviously, that Politico interview that dropped yesterday was probably filmed a day
00:09:29.200 or two or three before it dropped yesterday. And I think that what Carney is doing here is trying
00:09:36.540 to save himself from the consequences of what he said in that Politico interview, because he made
00:09:42.620 it sound so nonchalant, like he doesn't even care about getting a trade deal. Who cares? I'll just
00:09:47.380 wait until Trump's gone in two more years. And if you lose your job, tough toenails. I just don't
00:09:52.240 want to talk to him. And then suddenly he talks to him after there's a bunch of backlash for him
00:09:57.060 being so, I guess, just so flippant about not having, not prioritizing getting this trade deal.
00:10:03.280 So Carney here says,
00:10:04.800 Good conversation with President Donald Trump on the future of Canada-U.S. trade.
00:10:08.680 This builds on our recent constructive discussions on the outlines of a mutually beneficial trade deal that would create jobs for our workers,
00:10:16.400 boost affordability for families, and fully respect Canada's languages, culture, and sovereignty.
00:10:22.320 Our teams will be now working in the coming weeks to deliver that outcome.
00:10:27.020 Which is still very vague.
00:10:28.860 He doesn't even really use the term trade deal here.
00:10:31.880 We're going to try and negotiate to get towards the outcome, the outcome being, you know, affordability and respect for languages and culture and sovereignty and whatnot.
00:10:42.500 This is just some red meat so that the media can pretend that maybe he's got Trump right where he wants him and that Carney's elbows up approach to trade policy is just about to pay off.
00:10:52.900 So everyone in the by-elections definitely, definitely cast a vote for the liberals.
00:10:57.600 Definitely vote for them because Carney put out a tweet saying he's talking to Trump again,
00:11:01.940 even though the last few times that he did this, he ended up being the one to walk away from the table
00:11:06.680 and get absolutely nothing done, give a bunch of concessions for nothing in return. 0.98
00:11:11.840 At the same time, he's getting into stupid bun fights with the U.S. administration. 0.96
00:11:16.640 This is also what's probably currently sinking his EU associate member dream.
00:11:21.460 Why, even though they're not pro-Trump countries by any stretch of the imagination, why would the Germans, the Italians, the Greeks, and all the other EU countries who have a problem with the Canadian associate EU membership want Canada to suddenly join them at a time when those countries are trying to keep a diplomatically good relationship with the US?
00:11:42.900 You don't want to partner with Carney, who has beef with Donald Trump.
00:11:46.720 You don't even trade a lot with Canada.
00:11:48.940 So ignore him.
00:11:50.020 Don't let him join the club so you can focus on repairing and growing your relationship with the U.S.
00:11:55.680 That's obviously what a lot of the European leaders are thinking.
00:11:58.600 Doesn't matter if they like Trump or not.
00:12:00.200 Apparently, even Emmanuel Macron doesn't really want Canada to join.
00:12:04.080 Not because he's a big Trump fan, but because you don't want to look like you're co-signing on Mark Carney's tit-for-tat fight with Donald Trump.
00:12:11.740 Did Donald Trump start it by putting the tariffs in place? Sure. But Carney is not dealing with it very well. And when there's a powerful economic force fighting a less powerful economic force, if you're Europe and you don't really have any skin in the emotional battle, you're just going to go with the bigger country, which is America.
00:12:30.600 So I'm wondering if this is trying to achieve a few goals at once. Carney is trying to make himself look a little bit more diplomatic to the EU when it comes to dealing with the Americans. He's also trying to go to the business liberals in his base, which are the biggest portion of voters in the country.
00:12:46.280 Not like 40%, but, you know, if we were to kind of break up each type of voter into a fraction of the electorate, you know, you get your public sector union voters, you get your right-wing populists, you get your, you know, socially conservative yet fiscally liberal maritime voters.
00:13:08.000 Business liberals are probably like a good chunk, like a good quarter of the entire country.
00:13:12.480 People who on social issues are kind of agnostic, if not slightly socially liberal, but they mainly vote in order to kind of shore up their economic position.
00:13:23.600 Those people, when they saw Carney basically acting like it was no big deal, just waiting two more years to get a different president to get a trade deal with,
00:13:32.140 they probably had hit the bug lights and said, Carney, get on the phone, talk to him.
00:13:37.840 You being, for some reason, scared of talking to Donald Trump makes us wonder if we need the conservatives in.
00:13:43.800 And I wonder if that is now causing Carney to say, OK, I'll get on the phone.
00:13:47.680 I'll tweet about it. I'll make it look like we have some progress to keep the coalition together.
00:13:51.960 Now, he can't be too warm because he could lose the Charlie Angus, Laura Babcock, you know, elbows up liberal voter.
00:13:59.680 That's the kind of strange tightrope that Carney's having to walk right now.
00:14:03.340 He has to pretend he wants a trade deal.
00:14:05.200 At the same time, he has to make it seem unlikely we're ever going to work with the Americans, because they're so awful, to keep both the business liberals and elbows-up liberals on the same team. 0.86
00:14:15.340 But now, let's move on to another video I want to talk about, and that is this just stupid clip from a press conference today where the media is trying to make the by-elections about liberal fundraising against conservative fundraising. 0.78
00:14:33.360 Polyev did this press conference with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation in Ottawa, 0.89
00:14:39.580 talking about cutting wasteful spending and trying to get Canada's economy back on the right track.
00:14:45.380 The same day the by-elections were announced, this was probably scheduled in advance, obviously,
00:14:49.360 and the media asks him, what do you think about Carney's Liberals out-fundraising you in the last quarter?
00:14:55.980 than your party in the last quarter.
00:14:59.080 Liberals raised more money than your party in the last quarter.
00:15:02.880 That's the first time that's happened with fundraising in a long time.
00:15:06.240 What does that tell you?
00:15:07.800 It tells me that Mark Carney is using the corporate power brokers
00:15:11.020 that he's paying off with countless billions of your tax dollars.
00:15:16.020 You know, he is taking more money from waitresses and welders,
00:15:20.720 seniors, single moms, and small business people,
00:15:23.120 and giving an unprecedented gusher of gifts to his corporate friends
00:15:30.220 through subsidies and handouts.
00:15:32.840 And then I noticed the biggest sum of the money he raised
00:15:35.020 was at his investment summit where he brought in a million dollars.
00:15:38.600 And it would be nice if the media would do a little bit of scrutinizing
00:15:41.920 about the quid pro quo that is going on
00:15:45.640 between him and his close corporate cronies.
00:15:49.860 And by the way, what I also want to cut in and mention,
00:15:52.680 before I go back to Polyev, is that the conservative movement in Canada was dealing
00:15:57.360 with the referendum in Alberta. There was the BC provincial election where there is no actual
00:16:03.480 liberal party, although the BC conservatives are kind of a liberal party when you actually look at
00:16:07.960 many of their candidates, but that's another topic for another day. There was also the Quebec
00:16:12.100 provincial election. It was just not a great fundraising time for the conservatives in
00:16:17.500 general. And then again, when you look at where the liberals were actually gaining their money,
00:16:22.960 it was all around the investment summit. So that's a little hanky, not that the donations
00:16:28.560 are illegal, but obviously the donations are somewhat financially motivated by people who
00:16:34.820 are trying to have a good relationship with the liberal government. But the journalist just comes
00:16:38.640 out here and just says, so you fell behind in fundraising this last quarter. That's kind of
00:16:44.560 bad, isn't it? What does that say about you? The implication being he's a bad leader. He's
00:16:50.120 unpopular because Carney and the liberals out-fundraised the conservatives in a single
00:16:55.200 quarter. Have they ever gone to Carney and asked, hey, the conservatives over the past
00:17:00.460 six or seven quarters since you became prime minister have out-fundraised you? What does
00:17:05.820 that say about you? They never do that. But whenever it happens to one time in favor of
00:17:11.320 liberals suddenly it's an anti-Poliev story and we need to talk about is Polyev's leadership at
00:17:16.280 risk here? You know I've never seen an example of a prime minister use the public trough for to
00:17:23.620 enrich his corporate friends so flagrantly as this guy does. He sets up a program for heat pumps
00:17:32.280 two billion dollars that will cost you more on your taxes but it goes to companies like the one
00:17:38.640 that Brookfield owns that will ultimately benefit from those subsidies.
00:17:45.120 He keeps his assets in tax havens, protects those tax havens.
00:17:50.720 He set up a new Invest Canada corporate welfare office
00:17:54.920 headed up by Dominic Barton, one of the other big corporate power brokers.
00:17:59.860 So it is no surprise that those people that he is paying off with your tax dollars,
00:18:06.300 driving up your gas, grocery, and housing costs, we'll be paying back the favor to the Liberal
00:18:12.540 Party and Mark Carney. Overall, I've actually been fairly happy with seeing how the conservative
00:18:18.240 messaging has turned over the past month, because previously I was, my impression was that the
00:18:25.260 conservatives were being overly cautious with how they approached issues, and I like that now that
00:18:30.980 they're trying to be a more explicitly small C conservative party, calling for cuts in wasteful
00:18:37.520 spending. You know, right here, you can see that their list of demands listed in one, two, and
00:18:42.900 three, cut wasteful inflationary spending, keep his promises to reduce debt and deficits, and
00:18:48.380 scrap the fuel taxes to lower the cost of gas, groceries, and everything else. Now, I do still
00:18:53.760 want them to eventually have that turn where they run on a blanket across the board 20% income tax
00:19:00.880 cut and also include corporate taxes as well maybe take one point off the gst because canada is
00:19:07.520 drowning in taxes and i think it would be very easily marketable for pure baliap you could even
00:19:12.880 say if we cut taxes and this is absolutely true if we cut taxes across all brackets by 20 within a
00:19:20.320 few years we'll actually probably have higher tax revenues because we're kicking so much business
00:19:25.760 out of the country by keeping our tax rates at this level. Eventually, businesses just cannot
00:19:31.100 turn a profit anymore, drowned by taxes and regulations in Canada, and they move to the
00:19:36.180 United States. So by actually lowering our taxes, not only do we prevent people from wanting to
00:19:41.580 leave, but we actually attract more capital into our country. Carney's big idea is his mega
00:19:48.000 deduction, which isn't necessarily a bad idea, but it doesn't help when your taxes are still
00:19:54.240 extremely high. It's just saying you can write off 100% of the cost of a capital asset for your
00:20:00.260 business in one year, rather than writing it off over the lifetime of that asset. So if an asset
00:20:05.960 takes, you know, you think you're going to use it for about 12 years, you get to write off a 12th
00:20:10.180 of it every year up to that point. So with Carney's mega deduction for a limited amount of
00:20:14.960 time, companies can just write things off all that year. Okay, still doesn't actually affect
00:20:21.120 the overall tax rates and regulations but i guess that's kind of nice but it doesn't change the
00:20:26.560 fundamental problems in the economy businesses that are operate at scale they know that they
00:20:32.960 can write these things off over 10 years and letting them writing it off over a single year
00:20:36.720 is i guess nice but it doesn't really change anything for them they're still only going to
00:20:41.920 invest in as profitable as the market is that doesn't make the market more profitable it just
00:20:46.560 means that you get to write things off faster you just you get you save the same amount of tax
00:20:50.800 dollars sooner so if the conservatives run on a big tax cut that's actually changing the conversation
00:20:57.280 and you have a you have an argument that i'm saving you money and i'm actually going to grow
00:21:02.880 government revenues very soon by bringing uh investment into the country but but polyev on
00:21:09.520 a lot of other issues i think has been stiffening his neck properly like on immigration not just
00:21:14.160 simply saying that we need immigration to not be higher we need to keep immigration rates you know
00:21:20.240 at where they are he is explicitly calling for immigration to be lower and people overstaying
00:21:25.600 visas to be removed from the country people who are abusing welfare also need to be cracked down
00:21:31.040 on because that's a major money sink for the canadian taxpayer throwing money at fake refugees
00:21:36.560 throwing money at people who came here on false pretenses of wanting to work and then they
00:21:40.800 basically just sit on government programs to sustain them. Polly have also said this about
00:21:45.380 the by-elections here. He said, in the upcoming by-elections, Canadians face a clear choice.
00:21:50.420 More of the same from the Kearney Liberals, higher costs, more crime, and out-of-control immigration,
00:21:54.680 or the Conservatives plan to save you money, save Canadian jobs, keep you safe, fix immigration,
00:21:58.980 and restore the promise of Canada. Choose to put Canada first. Now, obviously, this is campaign
00:22:03.360 rhetoric. I'm not saying, oh, this is some profound statement, but I do like that the anti-immigration 1.00
00:22:08.540 element is actually starting to make it into standardized messaging. Fixed immigration is a
00:22:14.020 great way of saying it, but I do think that there needs to be other ways of explicitly saying
00:22:18.040 lower. We need net negative immigration for quite a while. If we're going to cut the amount of new 0.93
00:22:24.380 TFWs, we also cannot be mass renewing everyone because even though Carney has actually about
00:22:30.640 half the amount of TFWs entering the country every year, they've also massively jacked up
00:22:35.760 the renewals, so we actually have more TFWs in the country than ever before, because the people
00:22:40.880 who would normally be leaving after three years are getting another three-year extension.
00:22:45.560 It's the same problem, just being effectively fomented in a slightly different way. Trudeau
00:22:51.620 jacked up TFW rates massively, but people would technically leave after a few years.
00:22:56.900 The inflow was insane. Now the inflow is less, but nobody ever leaves, which is still a problem.
00:23:02.560 I'm not even sure if it's better or worse. I think it's basically just a lateral move at this
00:23:08.320 point. Anyways, so with all that being said, no doubt I will be following these by-elections as
00:23:15.500 they happen. I'll be trying to make sure that people sign up for lawn signs for the conservatives
00:23:19.560 in these different ridings. We really need the conservatives not to slide in another by-election.
00:23:26.060 This is the time the conservatives do need to stabilize their stance. I would say I want
00:23:30.500 Polyev to stay on as leader. Because here's the thing. Am I some sort of, like, Polyev fanboy?
00:23:36.760 No. Do I think that he does some things really well? Yes. Do I even have criticism for him?
00:23:42.140 Yes. I think that it's actually been bad for the conservative movement to constantly be changing
00:23:48.040 leaders. I think Andrew Scheer should have probably actually gotten a second kick at the can.
00:23:52.700 Aaron O'Toole, no, because he was terrible. But Polyev should absolutely get a second chance, 0.90
00:23:57.380 because I think the Conservative Party right now is at risk of actually learning a lesson.
00:24:02.920 Because sometimes when a leader messes up and doesn't win a general election, we kick
00:24:08.000 them out, we then bring in a guy who's going to make all the same mistakes rather than
00:24:12.580 having the past guy still in who's made the mistakes and at least knows not to repeat
00:24:18.160 them again.
00:24:18.980 And I think that is the position Polyev is currently in, and we're seeing positive movement
00:24:23.300 when it comes to his policies as well as his campaign strategy.
00:24:27.380 anyways so with all that being said thank you guys for watching make sure to like
