00:00:00.320It's clear that Canadians need to see the trade deal that Prime Minister Mark Carney walked away
00:00:05.560from a couple of days ago. All last week, I was led to believe that the deal sounded bad based
00:00:11.440on the media leaks about what was in it. But now, I don't know what to think because US Trade
00:00:17.460Representative Jameson Greer, when talking to the New York Times, laid out tariff rates that
00:00:22.680frankly sound pretty reasonable to me. Obviously, I would like a zero tariff rate on all of our
00:00:28.900goods but what he had told to the new york times sounded at least acceptable in the medium term and
00:00:34.980we can try and lower them more later so if what jameson greer said was accurate then mark carney0.64
00:00:41.600is a complete fool for walking away from an agreement in favor of keeping bill c11 bill c18
00:00:47.740and trading more with communist china because that's what mark carney made it sound like he0.98
00:00:53.300walked away for if Jameson Greer is correct about the tariff rates. But first, I want to refresh you
00:00:59.500guys with what was being said right after Mark Carney walked away. Because remember, Carney and
00:01:05.160the liberals had been going around saying that this was a good deal. Was it a good deal because
00:01:10.160of the tariff rates that Jameson Greer was laying out? And it only became apparently bad because
00:01:16.460America wanted us to get rid of the two stupid censorship bills, Bill C-11 and Bill C-18. C-180.98
00:01:23.900is the reason I can't even access TNT's Facebook page anymore because the liberals are effectively
00:01:29.040trying to extort platforms like Facebook to give money to CBC or else no news is allowed to be
00:01:34.880displayed on them. So check out this clip from CTV News and I want to make it very clear this clip is
00:01:41.300from ctv news and if ctv news tries and copyright claims my video because i'm trying to show a clip
00:01:47.780up from their station to make a point i will sue them they tried to copyright claim one of my
00:01:53.720previous videos and if they keep doing it i will sue them and they will owe me a lot of money for
00:01:58.520copyright trolling me so here is a video from ctv news with vashi capella skipping an update right
00:02:04.740after Mark Carney walked away from the trade deal.
00:02:07.600Of course, we're on a fashion show now, Vashti, no deal and an escalation, clearly.
00:02:11.980What else do we hear from the American side tonight?
00:02:14.960Well, I'll take a beat, Graham, and just say this isn't a stunning development, not just
00:02:20.540because of that clip you just played, where hours ago the President of the United States
00:02:24.600was indicating talks were going in a positive direction, but because of the trajectory of
00:02:29.320the entire week, behind the scenes, not only were people associated with the Prime Minister
00:02:33.860briefing reporters and saying this was a good deal selling it as a good deal but so was ambassador
00:02:40.020wiseman again mere hours ago speaking to the prime minister's advisory council the prime minister a
00:02:46.340few days ago to the premiers all of them saying that the deal they had arrived at the framework
00:02:51.140of one at least was a good deal for canada so things clearly at the last minute fell apart
00:02:58.100so there's two things going on here or actually three things going on here the first thing let's
00:03:02.900let's just say, is Mark Carney has been dragging his feet far too much when it comes to negotiating
00:03:07.300with the United States. The fact that after a year and a half, we are about to either sign
00:03:13.160bad deals or good deals, and we're just walking away from the table at the last second,
00:03:18.660is just maddening. We've been waiting so long for apparently the master negotiator to negotiate
00:03:24.280something, and the best he can do apparently is walk away from bad deals, which means he's not
00:03:30.260that good negotiating, anyone could have been doing this. But my real two points are, so either
00:03:35.380it was a bad deal all along, and these idiots don't know what a good deal is, and eventually0.99
00:03:40.200people from the public got to the Prime Minister's office and said, oh my goodness, do not sign this1.00
00:03:44.640thing. It has 15% auto tariffs in it, 25% steel and aluminum tariffs. It has softwood tariffs still
00:03:50.680left in it. What the heck are we doing? And then Mark Carney pulled the plug and made some excuses
00:03:55.280for, oh, there was last minute things that made me pull out. Or conversely, which sounds more
00:04:01.160logical because I don't think the prime minister and the people in his staff are so stupid to think0.99
00:04:06.580that 15% auto tariffs and 25% steel and aluminum tariffs is a good deal. What sounds like was the0.99
00:04:13.200deal may have actually been good on the tariff side of things, but because they know that Mark
00:04:19.340Carney is going to lose the elbows up base if they sign it, they basically use the excuse that
00:04:24.440the americans were telling us who we could and could not negotiate with as well as they're trying
00:04:28.660to threaten our language and our culture as being a reason to leave at the last moment if that's true
00:04:34.720that's absolutely insane nobody even likes c11 nobody likes c18 except for the legacy media and
00:04:42.720liberal insiders and again when they when mark carney came out yesterday in his press conference
00:04:47.360and when he was mentioning the the the changes at the last minute which he didn't even say there
00:04:52.020changes at the last minute the closest he got so we're saying there was last minute uh clarifications
00:04:56.820or last minute precisions which just sounds like he was pretending like he didn't understand what
00:05:01.380the deal meant at the very end then said oh wait you when you said this it means that right and
00:05:06.740they're like yeah they're like oh i don't want that and then he left but like he never actually
00:05:11.540came up with any coherent reason why there was no like why like there's no he didn't his language
00:05:17.860did not indicate actual last-minute changes took place but when he mentioned that the u.s was
00:05:22.740telling us who we can trade with and who we can't trade with that sounded more like he's talking
00:05:29.220about china than a western country by the way this is already a stipulation that's in kuzma and the
00:05:35.620usmca that partners in that agreement can do mexico and the united states will tell each other when
00:05:42.020we are engaging in trade agreements with other countries it's just keeping each other in the
00:05:46.820loop because the point of that trade agreement is that we're going to try and be each other's
00:05:52.240customers first and other people's customers after that. Not a big deal. I know some people
00:05:57.760are saying the U.S. can't push us around. They can't tell us who to trade with and who we can't
00:06:02.080trade with. It depends. Guys, a negotiation is telling the other side that you want them to do
00:06:09.220things for you that they may otherwise not want to do. You don't need a negotiation if we're just
00:06:14.040only saying things that are agreeable to one another. And if you're that worried about dumping
00:06:20.840your China EV deal and you won't sign an American trade deal because of it, you're incompetent.0.77
00:06:27.660You should not be prime minister. You probably shouldn't even be cleaning bathrooms if you think0.98
00:06:32.820that that is a sticking point that prevents us from having close to free trade with the United
00:06:38.460States. We're going to play a little bit more of this clip, but then there's some other things I
00:06:41.720want to move on to talk about. We need to know is what the reason for that is. And both sides are
00:06:47.080saying it's the other one, essentially making last minute demands, but neither side has specified
00:06:52.340exactly what those demands are. So it is a stunning development and a hugely consequential
00:06:57.740one. It may be in line with public opinion, but the economic impacts, particularly now as we embark
00:07:02.880on this trade war, as Mike stipulated, are going to be felt for a long time. So the thing that she
00:07:08.320said there that doesn't make any sense, is that both sides are accusing each other of making
00:07:13.640last-minute demands that ended up scuttling the agreement. It sounds like it was probably
00:07:19.600the Canadian side that did it. I'm a Canadian. I'm a patriotic Canadian. That doesn't mean that
00:07:24.400I have to always assume bad intent and bad actions on the U.S.'s part. Does it make more sense that
00:07:30.440the U.S. asked for things at the last minute or that Canada did? Because in a certain sense,
00:07:36.160I think probably neither side asked for things at the last minute. Carney just said that,
00:07:39.980and then he pulled out the agreement. If one side asked for some things at the last minute,
00:07:44.480what you would do is just say, hey, let's take another seven days. Let's just extend
00:07:48.920the deadline for the new 50% tariffs on 5% more of our exports, and let's talk this out if you
00:07:55.500want to change it. Pulling out of the agreement means you want the discussion to end. Carney
00:08:00.140want the discussion to end because, as I'm going to show you in polls tomorrow, pre-trade agreement,
00:08:06.860the Liberals have been starting to fall in some of their strongholds. That doesn't mean they're
00:08:11.100going to lose them in the by-elections, but that means in places like Beaches, East York,
00:08:15.100they're taking a big haircut from where they used to be and ceding a lot of ground to the NDP.
00:08:20.960Same thing in North Vancouver, Kaplan. They're losing some votes towards the Conservatives,
00:08:25.620but they're especially losing votes to the NDP and the Greens. Carney is no longer the special boy
00:08:31.560if he doesn't get to fight with Donald Trump. And so if he signs an agreement, and it's actually
00:08:36.520kind of a good agreement, yeah, you get some credit for a little bit, but that's not going
00:08:40.220to be good enough for the elbows-up liberals. I made this point on social media a bit ago.
00:08:45.180These people don't want Canada to win, the elbows-up liberals. They want America to lose,
00:08:50.740which is a very, very different situation. They don't actually want Canadians to be better off
00:08:56.340and for us to be prosperous. They simply want Trump to be gnashing his teeth and angry at
00:09:01.400whatever America did or whatever Canada did, which is delusional. What? We're going to base
00:09:08.380our trade on the feelings of Donald Trump? All these people who supposedly hate Donald Trump
00:09:13.960really think they care about what he thinks because all of them are basically bending our
00:09:18.600trade deal to the breaking point in order to try and make Trump mad rather than actually save
00:09:25.360Canadian jobs. So Table Salt here was reporting on what was in the New York Times interview with
00:09:31.720Jameson Greer, the U.S. trade representative. This was from yesterday. He says, Justin,
00:09:36.940Greer reveals to the New York Times the details of the trade deal Mark Carney rejected.
00:09:42.000Canada was offered the most preferential treatment in the world. Reduce tariffs on
00:09:47.080steel and aluminum and autos to 7%, the elimination of 10% lumber tariffs, no comment from Carney.
00:09:55.060And when they say the elimination of 10% lumber tariffs, not taking 10 points off the tariffs,
00:09:59.600no tariffs on lumber apparently was the deal. 7% on tariffs on steel, aluminum, and autos?
00:10:06.300If that's true, Mark Carney is like a traitor to the country for not taking that. Yes, I would
00:10:14.380rather it be zero know what we can do cut their taxes give a seven percent tax break to all of0.63
00:10:21.080the sectors who are currently experiencing those tariffs it's so dumb we already had auto tariffs
00:10:26.220in kuzma that were at 6.25 percent or something like that so it went up by 0.75 percent and all0.93
00:10:32.520we had to do was stop talking to communist china the country carny called our biggest national0.90
00:10:38.160security threat we had to get rid of bill c11 that just jams terrible government-funded canadian0.99
00:10:43.820content onto streaming services and bill c18 that blocks canadian news from platforms like instagram
00:10:50.300and facebook i'm sorry what did we not like about this thing if that's true that is ridiculous that
00:10:57.820we didn't take it and i think that the conservatives are taking the right stance by going after carney
00:11:03.660to release the details this is from a conservative critic on canada u.s relations shavloy majumdar
00:11:11.420He released this statement here, and we'll just read through a little bit of it.
00:11:15.360It says, Dear Minister LeBlanc, I write to you as the official opposition shadow minister for Canada-U.S. state relations in the wake of the recent collapse of trade negotiations with the United States.
00:11:27.460As my leader, Pierre Polyev, said yesterday, all Canadians must stand united as we face this challenge as a country.
00:11:33.100We want to continue the fight for free trade with our biggest customer.
00:11:36.320In that effort, the government has the support of His Majesty's loyal opposition.
00:11:40.920Conservatives also agree that Canada cannot accept a bad deal or one-sided tariffs that would cause permanent harm to our industries and de-industrialize our country.
00:11:48.480The collapse of negotiations and the application of new tariffs on both sides of the border will have serious consequences for our economy.
00:11:56.480Canadians deserve to know all facts to judge and hold accountable all the decisions that are made which affect their lives.
00:12:02.420That's why I am requesting that your government release the full details of the proposed deal from which you chose to walk away on Friday evening.
00:12:09.940If there was a draft text of any agreement that both governments have seen, please release it.
00:12:15.000The U.S. administration has seen it. Your government has seen it.
00:12:19.380Even after addressing Canadians and the media, the public and members of Parliament still remain in the dark on your government's demands in negotiations with the Trump administration.
00:12:28.700They remain in the dark on the circumstances in which tariffs would have been lifted on Canadian exports, on which millions of jobs depend.
00:12:36.500And it goes on, there's a second page to this, but I think you can forgive me for not wanting to read the second page. It's not because Shavloy Majumdar and his team are bad writers. I think that he's one of the best people in Pure Polly of Shadow Cabinet. But he's absolutely right. We just don't need to go on from there.
00:13:29.140It's one of those little persnickety things about me that I don't just arbitrarily hate the Americans because Donald Trump exists.
00:13:37.180I simply want Canada to get the best deal.
00:13:40.360And that requires members of the public who judge the government and advocate for the policies that would be best for their lives.
00:13:47.740We need to be able to see what's going on here.
00:13:50.260Again, I think that one of the best, most clear-eyed people on this issue, who doesn't even like Trump, is J.J. McCullough.
00:13:56.760I think that he does a really good job of pointing out the hypocrisy and just the obvious rhetorical tricks that are being used by the liberal government right now.
00:14:06.180The press should listen to what Carney actually said about pulling out of the trade talks.
00:14:10.920He cited unfair auto tariffs and external trade deals, but he also said the real poison pill was the U.S. asks involving Canada's weird and unpopular media and language policies.
00:14:24.280And then he goes on to say, if we take Carney at his word, he was prepared to accept a deal with the auto tariffs and the limitations on external trade deals, but he was absolutely not willing to accept scaling back some of Ottawa's media subsidies, streaming quotas, or bilingual packaging. Crazy logic. And J.J. McCullough is absolutely right about this.
00:14:46.180I remember showing you guys the tape yesterday of Mark Carney for two and a half minutes trying
00:14:51.280to come up with a reason why he pulled out of the deal at the last second. The things he said
00:14:55.300were auto tariffs. He said the U.S. trying to dictate who we trade with. And then he said,
00:15:04.420but most importantly, we need to defend our culture and defend our language and stuff like
00:15:09.900that. He basically acted like that was the biggest of red lines. Now, the auto thing he said
00:15:15.620was that, well, the auto tariffs were also going to apply on medium and heavy trucks, not just
00:15:22.160small cars. Okay, that would be really bad if the tariff rate was going to be 15%. Now, maybe when
00:15:30.560Jameson Greer claims that it's only 7%, maybe it's 7% for the first 100,000 cars, and then after
00:15:36.400that jumps to 15, maybe we can cope with that. Again, there are certain governmental mechanisms
00:15:41.880that we can use on our side of the border to lower taxes to make our companies more competitive.
00:15:47.040The thing I've been saying that the poly of conservatives need to embrace, 20% across the
00:15:51.700board, income tax cuts, corporate tax cuts, and well as one point off the GST, because why not
00:15:57.280just for fun? That is the best policy to combat remaining small-scale tariffs. But Carney didn't
00:16:04.160say that the tariffs were going to be 15% on all those things. He just said, well, I didn't realize
00:16:08.860they were going to apply to heavy trucks too. If it's only 7%, I think we can deal with that. I
00:16:13.720think we'll figure out a way of coping with that. And even then, he didn't say that was a last
00:16:18.160minute change that was going to apply to medium and large trucks. What he said was there was a
00:16:23.200last minute clarification, a last minute precision. Just say you're lying. Come on. It wasn't a last
00:16:31.220minute change. You were pretending to be dumb. And then like I did earlier, you're like, wait,1.00
00:16:35.500this also applies to heavy trucks too oh i didn't know that and then he like pulls out
00:16:41.260or again the second thing is oh they want to dictate who canada was trading with again that's
00:16:45.900already part of kuzma even they tell us when they're going to start a new trade relationship
00:16:49.660with other people or they should be and if they haven't been boo on them and we should have been
00:16:53.580asking them to but he never specified what countries the u.s had a problem with because
00:16:59.740i really doubt they care if we're trading with papa new guinea i really doubt they care if we're
00:17:04.060we're trading more with Japan or with the UK or with Nigeria or with name any country you want.
00:17:09.700Well, let's just name the countries that they have a problem with. Russia, who we were never
00:17:13.100trading with that much in the first place. Iran as well. And of course, the People's Republic of
00:17:18.820China. Those were probably the countries they have a problem with. What country out of those
00:17:23.600three has Mark Carney been giving a bear hug to? Oh, it's Xi Jinping's China. So when he says
00:17:30.060they're telling us who we can and can't trade with. I'm sorry that Donald Trump told you that
00:17:35.280you can't talk to the drug dealer down the street anymore, but maybe we should sacrifice that to get
00:17:40.900a good deal. I'm just saying, maybe we don't need to talk to, like, if they said, hey, don't trade
00:17:47.960with Equatorial Guinea, or don't trade with Turkmenistan, or don't trade with North Korea,
00:17:53.280would that ruffle our feathers too much? You can't trade with the African oil and gas dictatorship.0.98
00:17:59.020you can't trade with the the weirdo uh like you know turkman cult you can't trade with the juci0.98
00:18:05.780communist hermit state would those be bad oh but they can't tell us if we can trade with the prc0.75
00:18:11.760or not i saw some people saying like oh well they trade with china too yeah but they also flip
00:18:16.600everyone's national security bill so they have a little bit more skin in the game and making sure
00:18:21.580security measures are intact while they trade with china well where it was whereas with other
00:18:27.100countries, they probably want to limit how much people trade with China, since they're not putting
00:18:31.200in the cash to try and stop Chinese interference. We don't even stop Chinese interference in our
00:18:35.940own country. My goodness, one of our own Canadian interns, one of our own Chinese Canadian interns,0.92
00:18:41.500when they were at NATO, was caught spying for China. I think we should have a little more
00:18:46.560humility on the China file on this one, just as the United States has some exposures of their own,
00:18:52.280where they maybe need to, you know, pump the brakes a little bit in terms of trying to
00:18:56.580flex their pride. But, yeah, this isn't really looking too great based on how things are shaping
00:19:04.440up. You think, as soon as Jameson Greer said that, the Canadian government would just throw
00:19:08.060something on the table and prove that he's lying. And we've got nothing. But I want to get to this
00:19:12.740other J.J. McCullough tweet because J.J. is great. YouTube has been, like, abusing his YouTube
00:19:17.720channel recently he makes like he always makes the joke of a he you know of all his all his
00:19:22.780videos are award-winning but when you watch them they're genuinely like very very polished
00:19:27.240JJ's great he's come on the channel before uh and some of his videos he'll do like an hour-long
00:19:32.020video on uh different magazines uh America 215 issues and the interesting sort of things that
00:19:38.180were in each of them he does really good cultural videos and that video has like 50,000 views after
00:19:42.480a few days and it's like what the heck that was a classic video and YouTube just does not distribute
00:19:46.740his stuff. So when I sometimes say that the algorithms mean to me, dude, the algorithm is
00:19:51.560like putting J.J. McCullough in a concentration camp these days, despite the fact that he's only
00:19:56.340trying to make people happy. But J.J. here says, Prime Minister Carney has to explain what precisely
00:20:03.240what was offered and why he turned it down. The deal is rejected, so there's no more secret C
00:20:08.380defense. And I'm tired of all this vague trust me bro language. That's specifically why I said the
00:20:13.520trust me bro line earlier i was remembering it from jj's tweet the thing is too even secrecy
00:20:19.720doesn't even help trade negotiations i've said if i was involved in the trade negotiations
00:20:24.580i think there's a sort of a there's sort of a usefulness in basically keeping the trade
00:20:31.740negotiations public i want the american people to know what can is willing to give up and what
00:20:37.120the trump administration is giving us or not giving us in return because his own voters if
00:20:42.280they saw that trump was basically offering us garbage and we were trying to give them some
00:20:46.760stuff and the americans were like they know the tariffs affect them too the the whole idea is a
00:20:51.560lot of especially republican americans will trust trump to a certain extent thinking that these
00:20:56.280tariffs will get them a better deal through some short-term pain and pressure on canada0.93
00:21:01.960now on the canadian side we would say we're not just going to break to pressure for garbage
00:21:07.000if you're going if you're going to get something from us then we are going to at least get the
00:21:12.040trade back to the level that we had before or close to it okay fair enough you've been paying
00:21:16.760for a lot of our defense over the years we can give you that one but there's no need to hurt
00:21:21.000the relationship now so we'll give you c11 c18 we'll give you the dst streaming tax we'll rip
00:21:26.760up the china deal and let's get to tariff free trade but that's the funny thing the carny
00:21:31.400government wouldn't put so many things on the table that you think would be easy c11 c18 china
00:21:38.360supply management and then we burned a bunch of our concessions for nothing in the past which
00:21:44.200goodness i thought this guy was a master negotiator and he seems to just burn cards for no reason
00:21:49.180whatsoever it's not even to ingratiate himself because he slaps trump one day and then begs him
00:21:53.460for forgiveness and gives him a concession i don't get it and this has been my thing the entire time
00:21:59.320Pick a lane. Stop bouncing around between different trade strategies and never coming to something coherent.
00:22:08.040I posted this fairly long thread just a little bit ago.
00:22:12.420I always read through these and they're like very long when I write these up.
00:22:15.480And then I realized I had like a spelling or grammar mistake, like one right in the middle.
00:22:18.880And then I want to like, you know, end it all after that.
00:22:22.160But this is at least the one part I want to like repeat right here.
00:22:27.220I said, you have to learn a way of winning while also allowing Trump to win in his own way as well.
00:22:37.420I know this goes against what many elbows-up Canadians want, but it comes down to whether you want to win or you just want Trump to lose.
00:22:46.240Canada could come out of the negotiations better than ever, but you may not get the satisfaction of Trump gnashing his teeth and being angered by how you have defeated him in some way.
00:25:24.240Actually, you can get to the point where you both win, even if it started out like a situation where it felt like for one side to win, the other has to lose.
00:25:33.540We could have gotten to a win-win by now, but Mark Carney is too invested in anti-American,
00:25:38.840anti-Trump politics to actually sign a good deal. So this is my problem. I don't think he knows what
00:25:44.420a good deal is, because in his mind, a good deal props up the Liberal Party. And the problem here
00:25:50.100is that he's put himself in a situation where his own base wants Trump to lose. They don't want a
00:25:56.160good deal. They want Trump to lose. And so Carney believes a good deal is what makes him look tough.
00:26:01.220and the thing is getting rid of c11 and c18 in in part in front of the the base that he's partly
00:26:07.100made delusional that would be considered not tough so he can't sign that so we are in a situation
00:26:11.860where we could have had seven percent tariffs which is pretty low and we can get them lowered
00:26:16.160with the next administration but we can't accept that apparently if that was true apparently us0.99
00:26:22.280not trading more with china and us not getting rid of these stupid cultural policies would have0.99
00:26:28.880the deal breaker, because Mark Carney is not playing the game where he's trying to make0.99
00:26:33.300Canadians better off. He's trying to play the game to get Trump mad so that his base, you know,
00:26:38.840claps for him. It's ridiculous. But anyways, with all that being said, thank you guys for0.99
00:26:43.980watching this video. Make sure to like, share, subscribe. I recommend you guys check out the
00:26:50.040recent video from Northern Perspective where they lay out the CTV News copyright trolling issue.
00:26:55.900They copyright claimed one of my videos for showing a very brief clip of one of their broadcasts that I was critiquing that I needed for some context on my show.
00:27:05.320And they've done the same thing to Northern Perspective, even though CTV News, as Ryan and Tanya lay out, they have played Northern Perspective's interview clips with Pierre Polyev on 17 separate occasions.
00:27:18.060And yet they are trying to steal money from myself and Northern Perspective because we had the gall to use their clips in our shows, which is fair. That's how fair use or fair dealing in Canada works.
00:27:34.640I'm not obscuring that it's a CTV News clip.
