00:16:46.560And what Kirk says about the jobs, he says,
00:16:48.480the worst part of Canada's 42,000 job loss in August
00:16:51.700is that they were mostly full-time jobs.
00:16:54.320Full-time jobs is a sign of stability,
00:16:56.240but it's remaining hard to find one across Canada.
00:16:59.04073,000 out of 173,000 full-time jobs created in Canada
00:17:03.160over the past year were created in Alberta,
00:17:05.920which is another funny thing about Canada right now
00:17:09.000is that everything that Carney tries to brag about
00:17:12.220is really him just trying to steal an achievement from Danielle Smith and the Alberta government,
00:17:18.580because Alberta has created a good environment to create jobs, despite the fact that we still
00:17:22.920have to follow federal regulations and we have to pay federal taxes. Everything else in Alberta
00:17:28.460is quite good, so nearly half of the jobs being created so far this year have mostly been in
00:17:34.180Alberta. But the problem overall, although I think a lot of the jobs in Alberta will be more
00:17:39.700permanent and are more leaning on the full-time side, as was mentioned there. The problem with
00:17:45.180the job creation across Canada this year so far is a lot of it is hollow. A lot of it is vapor.
00:17:52.420What we have done is created temporary jobs or seasonal jobs that are going to go away.
00:17:59.000Every time someone mentions, oh, why, but seasonal adjustment, but seasonal adjustment,
00:18:03.540these aren't seasonal jobs or just temporary jobs because we seasonally adjust those out.
00:18:08.160No, we don't. If you actually know how seasonal adjustments work, you know that seasonal adjustments of job numbers barely dents the numbers at all, because what a seasonal job is, in its technical definition, is so narrow that you can absolutely be working a seasonal job that only exists during the summer in landscaping or retail or hospitality or in food services, but it won't be counted as a seasonal job,
00:18:36.840because that job and that person taking the job is not reoccurring every single year.
00:19:28.600And the thing is, we haven't really even seen the seasonal job drop off yet.
00:19:32.300A lot of those jobs are going to be showing up in September job numbers because they kind of carry into this month.
00:19:38.320Like, you know, people doing landscaping work, you stay doing it until maybe the end of September or so.
00:19:44.140Many of the other jobs around festivals and stuff like that, end of September, you're going to see the big drop off.
00:19:50.320The funny thing is, the vast majority of the jobs that we've lost were full time and also in areas where Carney's trying to pretend to be tough in.
00:20:29.960the dog days of the initial shock of tariffs that caused a big drop-off in employment,
00:20:34.920but we still haven't seen the seasonal job drop-off that we're going to be experiencing
00:20:40.920in the next month or two because last summer we didn't have a lot of employment because the
00:20:44.840tariffs kind of freaked people out so they weren't really employing many people at the time. But
00:20:49.640going on, he says, full-time jobs have decreased by 35,900, part-time decreased by 5,800. Employment
00:20:58.840declined in business, building and support services, 20,000, public administration, 8.8
00:21:04.600thousand, natural resources, 7.7 thousand, and utilities, 5.6 thousand. So building and support
00:21:10.840services are down 20,000 jobs. Half of the jobs that we lost were in building and support services.
00:21:19.160I thought we were having a big building sector boom. I thought that we were going to build more
00:21:24.640with Canadian resources. Canadian steel, aluminum, and wood are going to be used to build up more
00:21:29.700Canadian jobs, to build more buildings in our country. And it's like, no, no, not really. In
00:21:34.800fact, it's a big loss sector. Manufacturing jobs increased by 22,000. Quebec lost 19,000 jobs.
00:21:42.220Ontario lost 18,000 jobs. Youth employment down 19,000 jobs. Core age lost 19,000 jobs. Yeah,
00:21:49.960So it's not good. Manufacturing increased $22,000, but that is the area where Carney is dumping a lot of subsidy money into basically to recover jobs that we had been losing in the first half of the year. But again, all these haven't been in the retail, food services, and other things yet. In September, end of September, we are going to see a jobs report that's probably going to have another tens of thousands of numbers, job number decline going on.
00:22:16.800But again, the media kept acting like these were permanent and we're going to soar into the stars because of the economic policies of Mark Carney. No. He lives in economic reality with the rest of us. Subsidizing jobs does not grow an economy.
00:22:32.320In fact, when you use taxpayer money like they're going to use with $20 billion of taxpayer money to subsidize manufacturing jobs, what you're going to end up doing is having jobs pop out on the other side of the economy because the inflation and taxes are going to make it untenable to keep people employed in those areas.
00:22:50.160So we are subsidizing jobs in one area, and we're going to lose them in other areas.
00:22:55.500At the same time, I always think about this from the perspective of we could just cut taxes.
00:23:02.260Reduce the tariff rates on aluminum, steel, and autos.
00:23:05.720And whatever remains, if it's 15% to 10% tariffs on steel and aluminum, we can live with that for a couple of years until we get a new administration to negotiate with.
00:23:14.540What we would then do is just cut the taxes of those industries a little bit to make up for the losses that they have on product that they send to the United States.
00:23:24.000But no, we're going to subsidize our way out of it, which has never worked at any point ever for any country.
00:23:31.680No country has ever subsidized themselves into prosperity.
