00:00:00.000It should have been obvious from the beginning that Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberals were not going to be able to get a good trade deal with Donald Trump and the Americans, and not for any of the excuses that Liberals are using online saying that, well, Trump's too hard to deal with, he's erratic, you can't trust him.
00:00:17.700Carney promised that he was going to get a good deal and that he knows how to deal with Trump.
00:00:21.600So either he's lying or he sucks at his job.
00:01:03.440them. So the number that we all rightfully really didn't like during the 2025 federal election to
00:01:09.620the point it was the main federal election issue, Mark Carney is now celebrating getting us to the
00:01:17.360number that we all hated in the first place. Like what? There are so many liberals out there acting
00:01:22.620like other countries were fools for trying to negotiate so quickly with Trump after he dropped
00:01:27.460the tariffs in early 2025. Vietnam, Japan, France, other countries, they were stupid to be negotiating
00:01:34.820with Trump so quickly. They were being cowardly. It was short-sighted. And we were mocking them
00:01:39.800because they were negotiating deals where like 7% tariffs were going to still stay in place or 10%
00:01:45.380or whatever. And now we're going to try and polish up the turd that is 25% tariffs on steel and
00:01:52.240aluminum and apparently auto tariffs are going to drop from 25 to 15. now liberals will say hey look
00:01:58.180that's progress we reduce them no that is not good these companies the manufacturers and the unions
00:02:05.620were telling him you cannot leave in place a 15 auto tariff the only reason they were tolerating
00:02:11.880the 25 one and not shutting down immediately was in the hope the vain hope apparently that the
00:02:18.040tariff rates were going to go down to close to zero percent i believe there was always technically
00:02:23.600an auto tariff in place it was like six and a quarter or something like that if it was reduced
00:02:28.380to seven eight nine percent maybe they would tolerate it they told carny we can't survive
00:02:33.820with 15 unless you're going to subsidize us from from here until the end of time i want to bring
00:02:40.260you guys over to this video right here posted by rmc86 this guy i find has great uh compilation
00:02:47.380videos where he compiles a bunch of news clips in order to kind of tell a story there's no
00:02:52.700commentary he just puts news clip after news clip to make a point about how the liberals narrative
00:02:59.100has shifted over time here uh so it starts off with carney pitching himself as the man to solve
00:03:05.220the problem of 25 tariffs and then it ends with the liberals pretending like the current deal is
00:03:10.580fantastic good because i'm a good negotiator uh i have negotiated a number of situations in the
00:03:15.780past I know how to manage crises. 25% reciprocal tariffs on an additional 29.8 billion dollars of
00:03:25.860imports from the United States. Canada is reeling from a new round of U.S. tariffs on steel and
00:03:31.720aluminum. President Trump hiked tariffs to 50% last night. As America's largest supplier of both
00:03:38.020steel and aluminum, it is a major blow to Canadian exports. Much, much, much later. Yes, sectoral
00:03:45.020tariffs will go down but they did not know by how much or they couldn't say with certainty
00:03:50.820some Bloomberg for example is reporting they're going to be cut in half from 50 to 25 percent.
00:03:55.920I am Mark Carney I'm the best of them all I'm a great negotiator I have managed crisis in the
00:04:02.820past I would change the world trust me and it appears that it never happened. We're in a
00:04:10.780stronger position today than when the trade war began. This compilation, again, a great compilation
00:04:16.920made up by RMC86. I'll be linking it at the pinned comment below if you guys want to go
00:04:21.640watch it again and then give him a follow because he does a lot of these things.
00:04:25.560As an English Canadian, I feel like I underrate how great Yves Francois Blanchet is, you know,
00:04:30.560if I probably don't like his politics. And he's right. Carney just came in and he just generically
00:04:35.100declared that he's good at negotiating. I can manage this crisis because I've managed them
00:04:39.720before i've negotiated i can negotiate this thing because i've negotiated it before we should have
00:04:45.180probably realized the guy was an idiot back during the liberal leadership debates where when he was
00:04:50.760running to replace justin trudeau he would say on the stage when they said well what are you going
00:04:55.120to do with trump and his threat of tariffs and he said i'm going to use diplomacy i'm going to
00:05:00.440negotiate it's like wow really you're going to do that and you're not going to bite off and eat your
00:05:05.120own thumbs what an innovative approach it's almost like the substance to that diplomatic
00:05:11.280and negotiated strategy is really what matters i don't care that you're going to negotiate
00:05:17.220how you know anyone any idiot can negotiate what are you going to do to secure less than 25 percent
00:05:24.700tariffs because remember that was the original problem we all had and now we're going to memory
00:05:31.020hole that and pretend like carney's done a wicked job here because wow he signed something with
00:05:37.360trump like there's all these people acting like conservatives thought he'd never sign anything
00:05:41.380i was a little skeptical he'd sign something i never thought he was not going to sign something
00:05:46.200like it was just not a it was just a foregone conclusion nothing's ever going to be signed
00:05:50.040obviously we want to avoid new 50 percent tariffs on even more exports i assumed that there was a
00:05:55.900chance he would eventually sign something but whatever he signed was just not going to be good
00:05:59.980So we're going to put booze back on the shelves. We're apparently going to be slightly adjusting the supply management dairy quota, but in other areas, supply management's being fully kept intact. We're removing all of our reciprocal tariffs, all of our tariffs on their autos. Literally, I believe we're going to have 0% tariffs on their cars coming into Canada, while they are going to have a 15% tariff on our cars going into the United States, down from 25%.
00:06:26.380Apparently, that means it's good, even though the auto sector said they cannot survive with
00:06:31.320a 15% tariff, to the point the Unifor president, who just represents the workers, is fully
00:06:38.100linking arms with the actual corporations and saying, yes, 15%, way too much.
00:06:44.000We have been holding out hope to get to zero or close to zero.
00:06:47.060I believe the old tariff rate was like 6.25%.
00:06:49.900I'm not sure if I'm repeating myself, but some of these products did used to have tariffs
00:06:54.680on them all the time, but they were far lower.
00:06:56.380These companies can't survive with 15. They've already said if it stays at 15, we are going to, you know, continue manufacturing cars in the current models we're working on. And after that, we are going to find somewhere else to manufacture cars.
00:07:11.240But now I want to move on to some of the other stuff that we've seen come out of here.
00:07:14.780I want to jump over to Dominic LeBlanc, who was in the United States yesterday or two days ago, jumped back to Canada.
00:07:21.720Now he's back in the United States, trying to gloss the deal that they've been making, but of course, still providing absolutely no details.
00:07:30.080So we continue to do the important work that Canadians expect us to do.
00:07:36.220We had a long, detailed meeting with Ambassador Greer and his colleagues.
00:07:41.840You may notice Madame Charette remains in the building to continue that work.
00:07:47.600Canadians expect us to get a deal that's in the economic interest of Canada and Canadian workers.
00:07:53.740Wasn't that deal what a good deal is in the interests of Canadians and Canadian workers?
00:07:59.560That was always defined by, we're not going to leave a substantial tariff in place where there used to never be one.
00:08:05.680because back during the election, they would have fear-mongered that the conservatives are
00:08:09.640going to capitulate and they're going to leave most of the steel and aluminum tariffs in place
00:08:13.020because they're too Trump-friendly. That was a narrative going around from liberals, both in
00:08:18.440the legacy media and on social media. And now what is the liberals doing? They're not even
00:08:23.000denting the 25%. We're going back to default. Read Trump's book, Art of the Deal. This is
00:08:29.860basically what he does. He asks for 150% of what he wants, and then he pretends he's discounting
00:08:35.840you by saying, ah, just give me 100% of what I want. You will learn more useful information
00:08:40.780in this negotiation. Reading Trump's book than reading Mark Carney's book. Reading Mark Carney's
00:08:46.340book, what are you going to figure out? Finding out he's a pretentious rube? That's it. At least
00:08:51.460Trump's book tells you that he's aggressive, he pushes, he threatens in order to try and get as
00:08:57.220much as he wants. But it's like Carney acted like, I know how to work with Trump. I've done
00:09:01.560it before. I know how this guy operates. And then as soon as Trump started doing textbook Trump
00:09:07.100things, Carney like folded and started giving him concessions left and right for nothing in return.
00:09:11.320And now we're giving even more for an extremely disappointing, just flat out bad deal.
00:09:18.100But now I want to move on to another clip here or to some other headlines. This is from
00:09:23.900another Twitter user that I sometimes source stuff from, Mr. Crumsworth. He just posted this
00:09:30.260headline from the CBC back in early 2025. It says, Trump slapped 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum
00:09:37.180imports without exception. President said, I don't mind when asked about countries retaliating.
00:09:42.440This was February 10th, 2025, even before Mark Carney was the new prime minister. This was
00:09:49.780considered the crisis now apparently we could just rework this headline and it says slump trump
00:09:55.420lowers tariffs to 25 and liberals called a great victory even though again this used to be considered
00:10:01.460a crisis scenario but trump puts us in a crisis scenario he pushes the envelope even more and
00:10:07.640then he lowers it back down to that original crisis level and now we're going to pretend
00:10:10.840like this is somehow all hunky-dory it's not i i don't know what to how to tell this to liberals
00:10:16.760any other way. He promised the opposite of what is currently happening. Now, I want to jump over
00:10:22.300to Wab Kanu, the premier of Manitoba, who has been saying a lot of stupid things today, but
00:10:31.040did have to confirm that, of course, he's going to be having to take the tariffs, or he's going
00:10:37.100to have to put the American booze back on the shelves because Mark Carney told him to. He's
00:10:41.820to take some snide shots at donald trump here but he reveals something really important in terms of
00:10:47.580the quality of the deal based on what he said mark carney said i was told by the prime minister that
00:10:54.060he wants us to put the booze back on the shelves without giving you details they gave us some
00:10:58.700details and other stuff they said they're still nailing down so he was i wouldn't say that he was
00:11:05.100begging us but what is the step before baking so not pegging i get it from his perspective why does
00:11:13.420he want us to take the booze off the shelves he's the one who got on the phone with donald trump
00:11:18.700which you know i don't think any of us want to be on the phone with trump or in a photo with him
00:11:22.300but there you go somebody has to do it thank you mark carney for doing it and you can understand
00:11:27.420he got to a place where he can recommend the deal the canadians but i think for the rest of us okay
00:11:33.180Is the prime minister saying to the provinces, if you don't put the booze back on the shelves, we won't have a signed deal by the end of the week?
00:16:23.140What might we have when American elected representatives grow some backbone and stand
00:16:29.540up to a president who's raising the cost of living on their constituents?
00:16:32.540So again, I don't think, yeah, I don't think it's hard to see where I'm coming from. I'm skeptical. I'm not going to cheerlead things.
00:16:41.360yeah not not a happy camper as uh as uh cbc watcher had described i want to jump over to
00:16:50.060now this clip of uh lisa rate uh reacting to the lack of details of the agreement while she's on
00:16:55.400the cbc and i think that's been a major problem this entire time absolutely no details from our
00:17:01.400own side which again tells you what they think about their own deals it tells you what they think
00:17:06.040about how things are going when they don't tell you anything in terms of they don't want you to
00:17:10.680the details they just kind of want you to think things are going all right and when you ask for
00:17:15.480their work their homework they're like well it doesn't matter really does it uh look the premiers
00:17:20.600have been um briefed on this uh the cabinet has been briefed can i ask if you have yet been briefed
00:17:27.560we have not and that's okay no it is not she is literally on the advisory council on trade for the
00:17:36.040before the prime minister it's okay that the council hasn't even been told anything we have
00:17:41.480not and that's okay that's okay negotiations are ongoing i think what's the most important piece
00:17:47.320is to finalize whatever they need to finalize at the table but i would imagine david that there's
00:17:51.720a lot of discussion that has to happen not only with the premiers because they're the ones who
00:17:57.080are in charge of the booze ban across the country but as well with sector leaders and making sure
00:18:02.600that whatever agreement has been struck at the table regarding a general tariff, that that's
00:18:08.420something that Canadian industry can live with. They've already said they can't. The auto sector,
00:18:13.720the unions associated with the auto sector say 15% is way too high. They cannot live with that
00:18:18.600in the long run. 25% of aluminum and steel is ridiculous. And we don't even know what's going
00:18:24.180to happen with soft lumber at this point. But yeah, why is she okay with no details if she's
00:18:30.400the advisory council that's just ridiculous you can't do that and so i want to now jump over to
00:18:37.760this video of ashley capellas on the cbc also rightfully asking the question of what concessions
00:18:44.480have we had to make in order to get what we're getting here hi there there are three things
00:18:49.520when i think about the arrival at a deal still yet to be finalized but a deal between canada
00:18:55.040and united states that really stand out to me three remaining questions the first is
00:18:59.680very simple. What did we concede? The totality of what we ended up conceding to the United States,
00:19:05.360because if you look at the statements from US President Donald Trump last night,
00:19:08.880in conjunction with a statement from USTR Jameson Greer, one is very much focused on what we did to
00:19:14.800stave off the imposition of potential 338 tariffs, and that is counter tariffs on autos,
00:19:20.000booze back on the shelves. Again, take it for what it will, it's coming from President Trump.
00:19:25.040and the third is some augmentation of quotas when it comes to dairy. That's what came from
00:19:30.080the President. What came from the USTR was more, more access largely, he said broadly,
00:19:35.440for American products to the Canadian market, something called digital alignment. It just
00:19:39.200seemed more broad-based than what the President had explained. And conversely, we have very little
00:19:44.800to no information other than one statement from the Minister Dominic LeBlanc on the Canadian side
00:19:50.480of what they did agree to he talked about supply management how it will be retained the system as
00:19:55.440a whole will be retained but other than that provided no additional details so very much
00:19:59.760interested in and we should find out what exactly we conceded that way canadians can judge
00:20:05.520objectively whether the deal is a good one or not should it be finalized the second thing is what
00:20:10.080did we get in exchange and more more specifically to what degree are section 232 tariffs reduced
00:20:18.080A number of people I spoke to who had been briefed on negotiations up until yesterday said that what was on the table was a reduction for, for example, steel and aluminum tariffs and a reduction for auto tariffs.
00:20:30.240But is the reduction enough to be palatable to those industries and the premiers that represent provinces where the industries are most dominant?
00:20:39.040Now, I think, again, the reason that we're not going to see details is partly because of the by-elections coming up.
00:20:45.800I think that even if it gets signed, there's a chance that Carney basically slow walks showing anyone what's actually in the package, because that could end up hurting him in a bunch of these by-elections, and even if he still wins places like Beaches, East York, which he obviously will, it's a very default safe liberal riding, if he starts bleeding heavy to the NDP, that is not going to set him up well for the coming by-elections later or for a future general election.
00:21:11.400Because remember, the last election mainly was won by liberals because of the incompetence and collapse in support for the Jagmeet Singh NDP.
00:21:19.700So if Avi Lewis's NDP start doing better, in part because Mark Carney basically completely surrenders his elbows up position and the NDP inherits it,
00:21:28.260That could end up actually causing massive issues for liberals in GTA, major metropolitan-type area ridings, where when the liberals start splitting the vote with the NDP, that's when the conservatives start winning ridings that they wouldn't normally think would be in play for them.
00:21:46.860Now, I just want to go to one more thing, and it's Charlie Angus speaking on his own stupid Midas media show, because this is what represents a big problem for the liberals.
00:21:56.960This is where McCartney is going to get smacked by his own trade deal now that he is empowered the further left to basically attack him when previously they were actually being quite friendly to him and letting him basically do the negotiations, handle them any way he wanted.
00:22:12.780The booze boycott for Canadians is personal.
00:22:16.480For the prime minister to come and tell us to put down our guard, he's going to have to really prove it.
00:22:21.340I don't think it's going to change behavior.
00:22:23.220i think canadians recognize that as long as we have a demo an anti-democratic threat on our border
00:22:30.180uh that we will hold the line the boycott will remain strong and that'll piss donald trump off
00:22:34.980but um we know that what he says means nothing like ben as he was demanding this a 10th hour
00:22:41.780negotiation he was turning on the uk threatening them with 100 tariffs after they signed an
00:22:47.940agreement that gave donald trump everything he wanted so canadians are watching they will wait
00:22:52.820can see uh they'll listen to what the prime minister comes back on but you know donald trump's
00:22:58.100cheering and howling that he's secured the keystone excel pipeline we're like whatever
00:23:02.740take it dude if that's if that's the best it gets go for it if that's again he's he's coping hard
00:23:09.780there's no that's obviously not what he's getting that's not all that he's getting and by the way
00:23:14.900charlie angus is an opponent of the keystone excel and how he's acting like it's absolutely
00:23:18.580no big deal if it gets built, which really demonstrates that how elbows up has just become
00:23:22.760his personality. The U.S. clearly won in this situation. We are settling for the original
00:23:30.020tariff numbers because we failed to use our leverage and potential and use concessions
00:23:35.220in order to get a lower tariffs when they were originally set. If we did it back then,
00:23:41.000we'd have a far better deal. We would have had far more leverage. And by the way, you know,
00:23:46.460longer periods of time allowed for more pain to set in for canda it's not reversible once you
00:23:52.180actually get a better deal things get better but it doesn't reverse all the damage that that year
00:23:57.080and a half of indecisive action ended up causing but i just want to let you guys know so the way
00:24:02.220i'm going to roll out my three by-election polls is sort of this i'm going to be doing individual
00:24:07.580videos on each of the polls i'm not just trying to stretch the content it genuinely is each one
00:24:12.140of them is kind of meaty enough that i want to talk about north vancouver capilano beaches east
00:24:16.840york and chicotimi left fjord these are objective polls they're not just telling me what i want to
00:24:22.700hear one of the writings in fact i really don't like how badly the conservatives were doing
00:24:27.200in one of the writings but overall i would say that uh when you look when you look at the big
00:24:32.260picture it's not great for the liberals because the reasons why in one of the writings the
00:24:37.780conservatives aren't doing well has more to do with a regional riding specific effect whereas
00:24:43.280the liberals are bleeding support or failing to secure more support in the other two if not all
00:24:49.140three by-elections because of their actions on trade because of over promising and way under
00:24:54.900delivering to give you a bit of a taste for what i'm talking about in beaches east york the liberals
00:25:00.000have fallen 20 points of support in north vancouver capilano last election jonathan wilkinson the
00:25:07.340liberal incumbent, won it with a victory margin of 26.2%. And in this by-election, they actually
00:25:15.100may be lucky to have a victory margin above 10%. They could be below 10%. And in fact, Stephen
00:25:21.220Curran, the Conservative Party candidate, with really good turnout numbers, could potentially
00:25:26.000make it super close, if not just win it by a hair. It's not a big chance. But depending on
00:25:32.680how things go and especially depending on how people react to the trade deal you could see the
00:25:37.920liberals in deep trouble in a riding like that so what we do see though is once carney is not seen
00:25:44.500as the trump whisperer as the gladiator to beat trump because he gets a bad deal he's going to
00:25:49.960start being graded as like a normal prime minister would because he's the guy who surrendered so now
00:25:56.240let's look at his economic performance oh wait he sucks at this maybe i'm going to go vote
00:26:01.220conservative or I'm going to go vote MVP or green because he's not an environmentalist enough or
00:26:06.140he's not, you know, elbows up enough. That's the thing that's going to hit Mark Carney.
00:26:11.600Trying to mark yourself as like the political messiah of the country is often very dangerous
00:26:18.440because when it turns out not to be true, people backlash pretty hard. Anyways, so look forward to
00:26:25.140those videos. Make sure you're subscribed to the channel if you're not yet a subscriber,
00:26:28.240if you want to keep up with those by-election release videos that I'm going to be doing on
00:26:32.420the whiteboard. And other than that, make sure to like, share, subscribe. Of course,
00:26:37.440leave a comment on what you think about all this stuff, and I'll see you guys all next time.
