00:00:00.000 Prime Minister Mark Carney has a very high approval rating right now, and the federal liberals have a significant polling lead over the pure poly of conservatives. 0.92
00:00:09.900 But they look like they're going to throw all that away now for dumb internal corruption.
00:00:15.620 The Carney liberals are in a very awkward position right now. They probably don't know it yet, but they are. 0.96
00:00:21.480 Over the past several months, the only obvious policy win they have is the pipeline with Alberta,
00:00:27.620 but most people don't really care all that much about it,
00:00:30.220 because the pipeline isn't set to be complete for, like, a decade.
00:00:34.200 And other than that, can you really name anything that people would point to
00:00:37.640 as something they're really happy with that Carney has done?
00:00:40.740 Yes, the liberal base likes him fighting with Trump,
00:00:43.640 but other than that, there's really nothing tangible that people can point to
00:00:48.380 as something that will make people's lives better.
00:00:50.480 At the same time, Canada's being hit with really bad economic data.
00:00:55.360 We have jobs falling, the GDP growth is being evaluated down right now by the PBO,
00:01:01.440 and now there's all these corruption issues.
00:01:04.600 Now, a government can ride over corruption if they can argue they're doing a good job in other areas,
00:01:10.140 but right now the Carney liberals really can't do that.
00:01:12.880 So when Carney's liberal government gives $1.2 billion to his wife to study oceans,
00:01:19.180 it hits a little bit differently when people are also losing their jobs at the exact same time.
00:01:25.940 We're going to get into this in just a second here. I want to go through some clips from
00:01:29.720 committee meetings as well as QP related to different corruption issues, and then we're
00:01:35.020 going to analyze what I think this is probably going to do to the Liberals before the end of
00:01:39.100 the year in terms of their polling. But before we get into it, I just want to remind you guys,
00:01:43.760 if you like the show, make sure to leave a like on the video. Subscribe if you are not yet a
00:01:48.040 subscriber. I am still trying to hit 100,000 subscribers on this channel, and we are getting
00:01:52.800 very, very close. And of course, if you also want to help the channel more, you can always hit the
00:01:58.100 join button and become a monthly contributing member of the channel. But now, without further
00:02:03.380 ado, let's jump into this first clip from QP from a couple days ago, posted by John Broussard,
00:02:09.120 a Conservative MP going after the Liberals for employing Mark Carney's wife
00:02:16.900 with a $1.2 billion budget to be an oceans envoy and study things about the ocean.
00:02:27.360 Yesterday at the Fisheries and Oceans Committee, Liberals blocked a motion
00:02:31.120 to have the Prime Minister's wife, Diana Fox Carney, appear to explain her appointment
00:02:35.220 as Canada's new ocean envoy.
00:02:37.260 the request was straightforward explain her mandate priorities and how she plans to oversee
00:02:42.380 more than 1.2 billion dollars in taxpayer funding tied to the role created by her husband the prime
00:02:48.460 minister if there's nothing to hide why are the liberals preventing mrs carney from appearing
00:02:53.020 before the committee responsible for fisheries and oceans and being accountable to canadians
00:02:57.900 for this appointment and the taxpayer funds associated by the way too sometimes mps don't
00:03:06.540 actually include the response of the government. They just want to show they asked a question.
00:03:11.100 John Broussard here has included what the minister responsible has to say in response because you
00:03:18.040 know it was not good at all. If you're Diana Fox Carney or Mark Carney, honestly just have her
00:03:24.820 testify, say some generic things about how this is good and will create economic growth in some
00:03:30.120 vague way. The fact that you won't even appear means that you know that she's going to fall
00:03:35.300 apart when actually pressed by MPs for answers of what she's doing, you know you're doing something
00:03:40.820 wrong. And this is what ticks people off. This is an example a little bit off base. I'm going to get
00:03:46.160 to the back of the clip in a second. Doug Ford is a terrible Premier of Ontario, super liberal
00:03:51.760 despite being a progressive conservative, broke tons of election promises, but got re-elected
00:03:56.900 three separate times. But the thing that finally turned people on him was the gravy plane. The fact
00:04:03.560 the Ontario government was going to invest in a plane for government officials to be able to go
00:04:08.140 around and do their work, which I'm not even necessarily against. Like, probably the governor
00:04:12.420 of Rhode Island and Connecticut have their own plane. I don't really care if the Ontario government
00:04:17.880 has a plane, too. But while people are struggling, symbolically, it just looks terrible. But this is
00:04:23.600 even worse. The plane in Ontario was going to cost like $50 million or whatever planes cost,
00:04:29.440 But she, to be the ocean's envoy, gets $1.2 billion, and they will not answer any questions about it.
00:04:36.620 Oh, and by the way, over the past two months, 110,000 Canadians lost their jobs.
00:04:41.280 ...secretary to the Minister of Fishers and Oceans.
00:04:45.760 Mr. Speaker, Madam Carney is an expert in climate policy,
00:04:52.180 and we thank her for stepping forward as Canada's ocean envoy.
00:04:58.060 The Conservatives are trying to score cheap political points, but we are focused on the work.
00:05:04.680 Our Liberal government will protect Canada's oceans and build our coastal economy.
00:05:11.820 Can I also just say, before we get back to John Proussard's response,
00:05:16.600 look at this ensemble here, guys.
00:05:18.960 What is he wearing? Did he get mugged by a librarian and they switched clothes?
00:05:22.800 I don't know what this guy's wearing, but apparently he is our Fisheries and Oceans or whatever minister.
00:05:29.140 Fair enough.
00:05:30.300 She is an expert on climate.
00:05:33.820 No, she's not.
00:05:35.860 No, she's not.
00:05:37.360 I don't care where her PhD is.
00:05:39.480 You don't get $1.2 billion to occupy a made-up position as Oceans envoy because you have a PhD in something climate-related.
00:05:49.380 She has no experience in how to actually use that money for anything useful. 0.91
00:05:53.600 It's going to be used for performative garbage. 0.82
00:05:56.300 And it's like such an obviously bad look. 0.96
00:05:59.800 It wasn't even like you gave it to a friend of the government.
00:06:02.280 We're going to get into some friends of the government getting money here in a second.
00:06:05.220 It wasn't even a friend of the government. 1.00
00:06:06.680 It's the wife of the prime minister who gets to play with an absurd amount of money. 1.00
00:06:11.000 If she was given $50 million to be Ocean's envoy, 1.00
00:06:15.820 I'm not even going to say fair enough.
00:06:17.000 That would still be bad.
00:06:17.940 but that's like at least a trivial amount of money that's a gravy plane amount of money
00:06:22.420 but you can't you couldn't make it a reasonable amount of money you had to make it 1.2 billion 0.87
00:06:28.920 dollars out of the oceans and fishery ministry budget for her to do who knows what with
00:06:34.460 economy the honorable member for barry south dennisville diana fox carney has been given an
00:06:42.540 official government role that her husband the prime minister created and she's been given more
00:06:46.700 than 1.2 billion tax dollars to work with the government is not a family-run business it's not
00:06:53.340 the sopranos but it's looking more and more like well-connected liberal insiders are taking care
00:06:58.780 of themselves while the people they govern over are suffering if that's not the case why not allow 1.00
00:07:05.340 mrs carney to come to the committee responsible for fisheries and oceans to explain her role 0.92
00:07:10.700 and be accountable to canadians
00:07:19.260 whenever you have to swap out the minister who had made the first response with somebody else
00:07:25.260 especially steve mckinnon my goodness it's because they had no answer even though they should you
00:07:30.540 know they're batting back the same quite basically john pissard for good reason he asked the same
00:07:34.860 question effectively over again because the answer was so bad the reason the other guy who looks like
00:07:40.620 if a couch came to life and became a minister of oceans and fisheries that the fact that that guy
00:07:46.140 wouldn't stand up again means that they know that they're stuck on this one so they're going to have
00:07:49.900 steve mckinnon here come and wait up the clock spurious attack coming from the office canada is
00:07:57.340 a world leader in oceans protection and ocean conservation we have multiple departments multiple
00:08:05.580 ministers and multiple initiatives including on our west coast where we are working very very hard
00:08:11.420 on the southern resident killer whale population we will continue to be world leaders in oceans
00:08:17.420 protection and we thank the prime minister's wife for volunteering to spearhead our
00:08:27.500 oh volunteering even if she's not given a salary it doesn't matter obviously her and
00:08:32.460 and Mark Carney are very rich individuals. The thing is that you're giving her $1.2 billion
00:08:38.400 to play with, which I don't doubt comes with an expense account so she can go do whatever work 1.00
00:08:43.560 she's doing. But at the end of the day, guys, you can't just deflect and say, Canada has a well
00:08:50.860 respected history in ocean conservation and blah, blah, blah. How does that have anything to do with
00:08:58.460 why we're giving her money again imagine if alberta premier danielle smith said well alberta
00:09:06.280 has always had a well-respected oil and gas industry and we're one of the best at uh you
00:09:11.500 know at basically cleaning up orphaned wells on this planet or blah blah blah it doesn't matter
00:09:16.320 and then she gives her husband 500 million dollars to go around being an oil and gas envoy
00:09:23.040 that would look a little bad except honestly that would probably be more productive i don't know what
00:09:28.380 ocean envoy is going to do in terms of drumming up business or improving the world. At least
00:09:33.460 somebody involved in oil and gas could actually probably find productive things for themselves to 0.94
00:09:37.980 do, but that would obviously be corrupt if Daniel Smith just gave her husband a massive expense 0.75
00:09:42.640 account and budget to just fool around. That's what Mark Carney has done, because can they define
00:09:47.880 what her job is? If you can't define it and you won't show up to committee to talk about it,
00:09:51.840 you should probably just give the money back. We could take 1.2 billion dollars off the deficit
00:09:56.720 right now over like two percent of the deficit right now by just scrapping this gunk this just 0.94
00:10:05.400 dumb liberal climate activist slop spending but now we got to jump over to some other stuff so
00:10:12.780 that was already a bad enough look uh now let's jump over to actually i need to highlight this 0.96
00:10:19.280 first from my friend daniel boardman because he's in ottawa right now speaking of wasted government
00:10:24.780 money my friend daniel here says i am in ottawa for some very serious meetings thankfully there
00:10:31.060 are enough free tampons in the men's bathrooms to get me through the next few days thank you
00:10:34.940 canadian taxpayer and there is him with the the free napkin and tampon dispenser in the men's
00:10:40.800 bathrooms in the capital of ottawa amazing we got so much great spending going on in our federal
00:10:47.160 government right now uh now we need to jump over to some conflict of interest stuff going on inside
00:10:54.020 of the federal liberal government because a friend of Mark Carney, he was basically given
00:11:01.200 a government contract or some sort of grant that many other people had been trying to compete for
00:11:06.800 and he just happens to be part of the same running club and a bunch of other sort of circles with
00:11:11.940 Mark Carney giving massive amounts of government money and the ethics commissioner here I believe
00:11:18.460 or whoever this is refuses to even like engage on what a friend of mark carney means they're just 0.93
00:11:25.160 kind of acting stupid about this whole thing that we shouldn't be looking in to uh we shouldn't be
00:11:30.780 looking into the conflicts of interest here because well what really is a conflict of interest 0.95
00:11:35.660 anyways uh mp jamil giovanni here says conflict of interest law isn't being applied to the prime
00:11:42.060 Minister's friends. Carney's longtime friend, Dan Goldberg, runs Telsat, which just got a $2.3
00:11:49.280 billion federal contract. I asked the Ethics Commissioner why. I didn't get an answer.
00:11:55.460 I'd like to get your understanding of what a helpful way of defining friend in the context
00:12:01.960 of the act is. How would you explain when a friend becomes relevant for a potential screen
00:12:06.900 for conflict of interest or where a friend is not relevant?
00:12:09.920 We go and have a drink periodically, you know, we belong to the same club, etc.
00:12:16.280 You have to look at the context.
00:12:18.000 There's a friend of the Prime Minister's who is part of a running club and book club with him.
00:12:23.240 There's a friend of the Prime Minister's who was at his very exclusive swearing-in ceremony at Rideau Hall.
00:12:28.840 There's a friend of the Prime Minister's where you can find pictures in the media of the two of them,
00:12:33.420 arm in arm, having a great time together.
00:12:35.940 That individual is the CEO of Telesat.
00:12:39.760 dave goldberg dave goldberg is not mentioned by name as a friend that would be warranted for
00:12:46.960 a conflict of interest screen and my question to you is why is that
00:12:54.160 well just a second a second where where the list of friends of the prime minister that's a great
00:13:00.880 question why aren't his friends listed in the conflict of interest screen this is this is
00:13:05.440 precisely the issue which is that if you have a definition which sounds quite reasonable sir
00:13:10.400 i'm curious as to why no one met that definition enough to be included in the conflict of interest
00:13:15.840 screen so what jamil javani is getting at which you probably not lost on any of you here the the
00:13:20.960 ethics commissioner even vocalized well what would a friend be well you know somebody that you
00:13:25.920 periodically get drinks with and you hang out with you maybe you know go to events with them
00:13:30.800 you know go to dinner go on a vacation whatever you have a close relationship you hang out for
00:13:37.140 reasons other than you used to be business partners or something like that and that absolutely
00:13:42.980 describes not only dave goldberg but many other individuals that carney's government has given
00:13:48.360 money to and yet none of this is being disclosed as a potential conflict of interest and he's going
00:13:53.480 to go into here saying well we don't know if the prime minister uh maintained a proper ethics
00:13:58.960 screening when the decision was made on these grants and contracts. And, you know, so we don't
00:14:04.520 know if there's anything untoward yet. And what Jamil's point is, we don't even know if anything
00:14:09.480 untoward happened, or we'll never know, because apparently this isn't even something considered
00:14:13.460 by the ethics commissioner to look into whether or not just close buddies are getting these
00:14:19.140 massively bloated contracts. And you could say, well, you don't know if they're bloated, Wyatt.
00:14:24.080 It's the liberal government, guys. There's going to be billions of dollars or hundreds of millions
00:14:28.360 attached these contracts that probably did not need to be paid in order for the you know for
00:14:34.440 the services to be properly rendered and why dave goldberg in particular would not be listed
00:14:40.520 first of all there's no obligation to under the act to mention your friends or
00:14:45.840 who they are secondly yeah that sounds like a problem dude maybe we should probably need
00:14:54.440 What is this? What's this man's name? I need to see it. Conrad W. Von Frickenstein, which is a fantastic name, by the way. No shots there. Just a great name. Obviously, that's a problem. If you can technically give money to a bunch of your friends and you have no obligation to disclose if you're friends with these people despite having tons of photos with you just hanging out with them all the time, that's kind of a giant ethical loophole that you could just shovel money out the door to friends' companies and you just never have to say that they're friends.
00:15:23.440 oh i've hung up with him before oh i think i've been at that cocktail soiree or 70 with him but
00:15:28.560 that doesn't mean anything like it kind of does it's kind of only slightly less bad than you
00:15:34.280 giving 1.2 billion dollars to your wife for a fake made-up position is there a conflict is mr
00:15:40.580 connor is mr goldberg dealing with the prime minister is he making decisions that affect
00:15:46.460 mr goldberg and if he's so if question that you've asked and and it is in fact there's
00:15:52.140 quite a lot of alarming evidence that the prime minister's government is making decisions that
00:15:56.940 have enriched let me finish please that have enriched dave goldberg and telesat so the average
00:16:02.700 canadian who sees that would naturally have questions as to is the prime minister in a
00:16:07.740 conflict of interest being able to as the global mail has said skyrocket the value of shares for
00:16:13.580 telesat by giving them public dollars so if an average canadian sees that and has a question
00:16:18.940 about whether there is a conflict of interest here why wouldn't that be in a screen so that
00:16:23.500 we know because that's that's ultimately what we would like is the information to know is there a
00:16:27.900 conflict of interest or not a couple of things here you you said the government has made decision
00:16:35.020 i have no idea whether what decision it is and whether the pm was involved how is this man the
00:16:41.900 ethics commissioner he has no clue if the government made its decision on if there would be a conflict
00:16:47.020 of interest here they made a decision a 2.3 billion dollar contract that has skyrocketed the
00:16:53.740 stock value of telsat yes a decision has been made and it is a governmental decision you know
00:17:00.380 mark carney that guy he's part of the government in fact the prime minister is part of the liberal
00:17:05.260 government the decision or not it may have been a decision where he where the screen was applied
00:17:12.780 and he was it did not was not involved if if that's the case it will appear in the next next
00:17:19.260 when it won't appear in the next report he's going to say it's gonna it's going to be part
00:17:24.780 of the next report that comes out but if we don't screen for who your friends are and you can just
00:17:29.420 never disclose if you're friends with somebody or not that's kind of a problem if it only ever
00:17:34.380 screens out family members that's not that many individuals and money can always find its way
00:17:39.340 back to you if you can shovel it out to close friends of yours in the form of bloated government
00:17:44.480 contracts because you would never actually need to disclose that you're friends with this person
00:17:47.880 even if there's just photos online of you two rubbing bellies together at some cocktail party
00:17:52.760 and going on vacations with the Maldives together obviously that's a problem but he's saying well
00:17:58.400 it'll come up if he put it applied an ethical screening or not later on it's like no it won't
00:18:03.300 because he doesn't have to declare it as a conflict of interest in the next report from
00:18:07.820 from the PCO. If you suggest that in effect the Prime Minister was involved and the decision
00:18:16.820 enriched the company, and you're saying by implication it also enriched Mr. Goldberg?
00:18:26.820 It's not just by implication. I mean, he's the CEO of the company. He owns stock in the
00:18:30.820 company. The Globe and Mail has reported that the value of that stock has skyrocketed. Not
00:18:34.820 Not only that, sir, but the Prime Minister appeared with this gentleman at an event in Muskoka this past summer, called by the Globe and Mail, Davos on the Dock.
00:18:45.460 I mean, what a name, huh?
00:18:46.880 Where wealthy CEOs pitched the government on opportunities for foreign investment.
00:18:52.080 Like, I mean, it seems to, I think, the average Canadian that there would be natural questions that deserve answers.
00:18:57.780 And I can appreciate you might not be in a position to provide a conclusion or a full answer, but I think those questions deserve some attention.
00:19:03.820 Thank you.
00:19:04.820 people feel like you etc they write to me and give me the details and i then will make a decision
00:19:12.020 so i thought that was a great performance by jamil giovanni there and now we're going to move
00:19:19.720 on to another great performance by another conservative mp because there's a lot more
00:19:24.300 bad stuff going on when it comes to another conflict of interest this time not involving
00:19:29.280 a friend of the prime minister or the prime minister's wife but involving a sitting liberal
00:19:33.800 MP, although some of these ethical issues go back to when they were an NDP MP, but why is it suddenly
00:19:40.800 that when they're sitting as a liberal, all these ethical issues can be swept under the rug and
00:19:45.680 nobody's punished? It's almost like this person, Lori Idlaut, may have been incentivized to cross
00:19:52.680 the floor because they weren't going to actually be punished for literally buying their own product
00:19:59.300 with their office budget. Like, it's actually absurd. So let's jump over to here. It's Aaron
00:20:03.480 Gunn going after the Liberals on this one. Because I'm confused by, I mean, you answered
00:20:08.660 the first question that you believe there should be consequences or that it's reasonable for
00:20:12.040 Canadians to expect that there are. And yet when there was an instance where there were no sanctions
00:20:17.300 and no consequences placed on a Liberal MP, Laurie Idlow, who was found by your office to have
00:20:23.220 violated Section 8 of the Conflict of Interest Code on five separate occasions using her taxpayer
00:20:29.180 funded constituency office budget to purchase more than two thousand dollars in artwork and
00:20:34.860 trinkets from her own business and there was also documented evidence from your office that she
00:20:40.460 explicitly knew about this provision and her compliance advisor recording in writing all the
00:20:46.140 way back in 2022 quote i also advised her she could not purchase gifts from the indigenous art
00:20:52.140 gallery she owns with her members office budget she was very much aware of this end quote so why
00:20:58.140 were there no sanctions and no consequences with this abuse of taxpayer money first of all the
00:21:05.180 amount is as you quite rightly said it was two thousand that's the purchase value of the goods
00:21:13.980 the profit to her or the expenses etc would be minimal because of what i have no idea what the
00:21:19.820 profit element of it was a violation of repeated violation one the profit doesn't really matter
00:21:26.860 as the principal, and by the way, it's art. It's not like someone's investing, like, it's not like
00:21:32.280 it's like only a $50 value to her to purchase $2,000 of artwork and trinkets. This would be
00:21:39.740 probably a significant portion of profit for her because it's art. You're not building, like,
00:21:45.220 a computer or whatever where the margins on how much the person's going to make on each chip that
00:21:50.340 they sell or on each piece of furniture that they create is going to be, like, a fraction of the
00:21:55.980 cost of building it because it takes some you know fairly expensive materials in order to do it this
00:22:01.260 is like paintings it could have been like random wood carvings or like necklaces this is not stuff
00:22:06.940 that's extremely expensive to produce usually you're paying a premium for the skill or for
00:22:13.500 the rarity of the pieces and she's buying it from herself that's kind of a problem when she already
00:22:20.620 had warnings of it and this is like with all due uh respect uh when canadians vote for their
00:22:26.380 elected officials they're placing an enormous amount of trust in us to manage their taxpayer
00:22:30.780 money ethically and judiciously and i think with that trust comes an enormous amount of
00:22:35.100 responsibility so i just couldn't understand like talking to canadians in my riding um they
00:22:40.780 certainly think that the conflict of the interest code is very important they believe you're a very
00:22:44.300 important part of our parliamentary democracy and i think they struggle to understand when someone
00:22:48.940 repeatedly violates that code after being warned not to and is found to have done that by your
00:22:53.980 office and the and the judicious work that you did how there could possibly be no sanctions and
00:22:59.100 no consequences as i keep telling you the act that provides for exposure that has been exposed i mean
00:23:09.740 my report is a public document it's on it so yes you have the power to provide sanctions
00:23:15.820 the elect no i do not this would be the speaker who would impose the sanctions i cannot impose
00:23:22.700 anything except for you recommend you recommended no sanctions you recommend any sense and i have
00:23:28.940 specifically under the act of discretion to to decide whether under the circumstances sanctions
00:23:35.980 are appropriate or not or whether these arrows they were worthy why did you think it was appropriate
00:23:41.740 for no sanctions to be placed on a Liberal MP who was found to have repeatedly violated Section 8
00:23:48.540 of the Code, even with forewarning from your office? And would you apply that same standard
00:23:53.980 if the Prime Minister, at some point in the future, is found to have violated the Conflict
00:23:58.380 of Interests Act for furthering his own privacy interests? Can you guarantee that you would
00:24:02.060 recommend sanctions in that case, or might he just get off with a stern warning?
00:24:06.940 i tried to explain when you interrupted me to say that it's a very minimal amount that was of
00:24:12.460 benefit to her she immediately violated it repeat so how many times does someone have to violate it
00:24:19.980 yeah like i think he's gonna get in there and say well she's paid the money back or something like
00:24:24.220 that it's like it doesn't matter because the problem is the person was told this is a violation
00:24:30.940 did it anyways violated the act five separate times and you're saying because the money wasn't
00:24:36.620 too much doesn't really matter well what's the line how much money if you're caught with it are
00:24:40.860 they just going to put a slap on the not even a slap on the wrist just say yeah pay it back and
00:24:44.280 we won't we won't go after you like that's kind of a problem because now you're telling mps if you
00:24:51.240 can get away with it if people don't know it's your business or that that person's giving you
00:24:55.200 a kickback you can basically you know spend as much money as you want from your office in a way
00:25:00.840 that benefits you. And if we only catch you at $3,000, $4,000, we'll probably just say water
00:25:06.980 under the bridge, pay it back or whatever. And you may have only caught a little bit of that
00:25:11.020 person's own unethical spending. How do we know that Lori Idlet hasn't been doing this in other 0.61
00:25:15.600 ways, paying a friend for services that she doesn't really need. And then she's getting a 0.99
00:25:19.720 few thousand dollars back on the back end. We don't know. All we know is that she's very shameless
00:25:24.800 in violating the act to the point where even when she's being told you cannot do this in an area 0.82
00:25:29.580 where it was extremely obvious and egregious she went for it anyways be a sanction how much money
00:25:35.260 does someone have to borderline embezzle from the federal government from taxpayers for you to
00:25:40.560 recommend a sanction mr gunn if you don't let me finish my sentence okay so how much money what's
00:25:45.620 causing me no one a new question after another before i even answered the first one so i mean
00:25:51.360 we're not having a discussion here how much money does somebody have to to borderline embezzle
00:25:55.980 tell you that it depends on the circumstance of the case this was a case which you call minimal
00:26:02.840 amount of benefit to her if she immediately admitted everything she repaid every single
00:26:09.200 penny of it she can i had admitted that's that's the time we're uh but it's even worse than oh she
00:26:17.200 admitted it once she was caught she already knew she was doing something wrong before she was caught
00:26:20.920 because she was told by her own person you cannot do this like what are we doing guys but it's going
00:26:27.480 to go on and on from here remember the alto high-speed rail line that we're going to be
00:26:32.060 spending 90 million not my goodness Wyatt no not 90 million 90 billion dollars building and it could
00:26:39.840 balloon to 200 billion dollars according to the Bloc Québécois own analysis of things that could
00:26:45.840 overrun all the costs that could overrun and delays that could happen that got funded fully
00:26:52.120 after the after finance minister francois philippe champagne's life partner or whatever
00:26:58.740 you know just his wife said he's not married to or whatever the situation there is she just
00:27:03.700 happened to be made the environment the vice president of environment for alto two months
00:27:10.580 before, he helped hammer through $90 billion in funding for the project. A project that has
00:27:18.220 already had more than $270 million spent on studying it, no track laid down, no plans fully
00:27:27.020 formed, just studying it, doing qualitative and quantitative studies, sitting around boardrooms
00:27:32.700 eating donuts. We have already spent over a quarter billion dollars on nothing. And it just
00:27:39.100 so happens to involve a life partner of a minister in the liberal government and this is going to go
00:27:46.300 on and on and on there are other major projects that are getting fast-tracked way more than others
00:27:51.420 that just so happen to have a lot of Brookfield connections at some point is the media going to
00:27:57.280 cover this in depth because it's startling the amount of conflicts in this federal liberal
00:28:02.920 government how is Carney able to get away with not selling off any of his Brookfield stock like
00:28:08.320 what he should have done is gone to government, sell all the stock, put in a blind trust, and that
00:28:12.740 person can invest it in whatever, diversify it out a massive amount, so he can't really do anything
00:28:18.340 to enrich himself. But instead, everything circles back to Brookfield. Like, guys, the airport sell-off
00:28:25.020 that might happen, where we're going to quote-unquote privatize a bunch of airports, which
00:28:28.360 I'm not even necessarily against, but five major airports may get privatized by selling it to both
00:28:36.180 the invest canada fund which mark carney created to a bunch of pension funds which are heavily
00:28:41.640 invested in brookfield as well as a bunch of money is just going to be shoveled out the door
00:28:46.760 to a bunch of first nation band councils which no doubt are probably going to be
00:28:51.700 led by very pro-liberal individuals like the musqueam reserve in vancouver led by chief wayne
00:28:58.380 sparrow who's a major ally of a bunch of liberal mps and mdp politicians isn't that funny that a
00:29:05.160 bunch of First Nation bands are just going to get a free cut of money on all these, a free
00:29:08.880 ownership share, a bunch of airports, and a bunch of Brookfield, a bunch of heavily invested Brookfield
00:29:15.520 pension funds are also going to buy up the airports. Nothing to see here, guys. Anyways,
00:29:22.260 was there anything else I had to say on all this? Oh, no, I have to, I need to bring this up.
00:29:27.920 Corey Hogan, the conservative, the liberal MP from Confederation, has been absolutely taking
00:29:34.620 it on the chin these days. He's trying to defend Mark Carney's words around Canada having the
00:29:40.760 strongest position inside of the G7. We have the lowest debt inside the G7. We have the strongest
00:29:47.080 growth. He's been just going wild trying to defend this. Corey Hogan here says, Canada has the lowest
00:29:53.880 net debt in the G7, the strongest credit rating and debt servicing costs well below historical
00:29:59.160 levels. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be careful with public money. It means we have choices.
00:30:03.320 In a trade war and an uncertain world, having choices matters.
00:30:06.520 And they always bring up the trade war.
00:30:08.160 And check out the community note on this one.
00:30:10.640 It wasn't even a partisan community note.
00:30:13.460 The AI detector added a community note. 1.00
00:30:16.500 It was so obviously dumb. 0.57
00:30:18.420 It says here, Canada's, quote, lowest net debt in the G7, unquote, 0.97
00:30:23.580 uses IMF, general government measures,
00:30:26.520 subtracting CPP and QPP pension assets unavailable from other debt.
00:30:31.640 gross debt ranks mid or mid higher in g7 credit rating tops uh top tier but shared uh with germany
00:30:40.220 so yeah we have a generally good credit rating overall that's fine although our interest costs
00:30:45.940 are having to go up because of just the massive amounts of money being spent by the liberal
00:30:49.620 government uh but on the on the lowest net debt in the g7 the only way they get to that is by
00:30:57.040 playing silly bonkers with the numbers and basically adding in the CPP and the Quebec
00:31:02.920 Pension Fund into net assets. But obviously, the government doesn't actually have access to just
00:31:10.760 ripping money out of the pension fund to pay off debt. It's money that is only supposed to go
00:31:16.600 to pensioners. You can't add that in and pretend you have low debt as if that's an asset the
00:31:21.980 government can liquidate at any time if it needs to pay the debt you should be taking pension funds
00:31:27.880 out of it because that's obviously not ever going to be put towards paying off the debt or the debt
00:31:33.380 interest when you remove those stuff and use more normal uh measures of of government public debt
00:31:40.140 our public debt is like only like is only slightly better than places like america but in the united
00:31:47.440 States, they have a much more powerful economy and can kind of carry a bigger debt burden.
00:31:51.960 We have a fairly weak economy and a pretty moderate to high debt burden, which is a far
00:31:57.380 worse position to be in than the United States. Anyways, with all that being said, thank you guys
00:32:03.680 for watching this episode of the show. I might be back later today or tomorrow with a video
00:32:07.940 I've been wanting to make on the Alberta NDP and Nahid Nenshi whining about redistricting that's
00:32:14.540 going to go on for the Alberta general election. Apparently, it's gerrymandering to un-gerrymander
00:32:20.360 the map from how the NDP had it from after the 2015 election because they, in fact, were trying
00:32:27.040 to gerrymander their way back into office for the 2019 election, but they were so unpopular that
00:32:32.480 didn't work. So that will be coming soon. And also, if you do happen to live in the provincial
00:32:38.540 riding of Calgary-Curry, go to my website, WyattClaypool.com, if you want to sign up because
00:32:44.220 I am running for the UCP nomination for that riding. I'll try and give people a call who have
00:32:49.800 signed up within the riding boundaries, tell you what I'm doing, what my strategy is, as well as
00:32:54.560 the dynamics I think that are at play right now for Alberta provincial politics. Anyways, so with
00:33:00.660 all that being said, thank you guys for watching. Like, share, subscribe, and I'll see you all next time.
