Transcript

00:00:00.000 Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here. I was just looking at this post from the Liberal Party of Canada late last night, and it got me going down a rabbit hole figuring out what the Liberal Party is even trying to run on in this federal election.
00:00:15.700 As you can see in this post, they say, Mark Carney has a plan to make Canada safer for you and your family. And they clip a CBC headline that says, Carney announces sweeping plan to crack down on crime and strengthen the border.
00:00:30.000 Well, doesn't that sound great? And there's another post here that kind of details out what he wants to do to make us all safer.
00:00:37.440 One, he has actually criticized Pierre Polyev for actually wanting to lock up repeat offenders, so he doesn't want to do that.
00:00:43.680 Well, let's see what Carney wants to do. So it says, Mark Carney is ready to build safer communities. Hashtag Canada strong.
00:00:51.980 And then it says, Mark Carney will fight crime, protect Canadians, and build safer communities.
00:00:57.460 And he wants to recruit 2,000 new RCMP and CBSA officers, which is honestly not that big when you consider the size of this country.
00:01:05.020 Crack down on illegal drugs and guns coming from the United States.
00:01:08.920 Okay, I don't know how he's going to do that because he's been belittling the problem on the border because I guess he has to oppose Donald Trump.
00:01:15.220 Third one, he says, more funding to prosecute violent criminal gangs.
00:01:20.100 Okay, well, are you actually going to lock them up? Because that seems like a bit of a problem.
00:01:24.120 You can't prosecute people harder if you're not actually going to sentence them harder.
00:01:27.720 And it says, stricter bail laws for home invasion and car theft.
00:01:31.240 Not violent crime, apparently, not other sorts of crimes.
00:01:35.480 But if someone invades your home or steals your car and they do find the guy, they might consider not releasing him as fast.
00:01:43.580 Do I actually think he's going to do that?
00:01:45.420 Well, no, because Mark Carney has not announced that he's going to get rid of Bill C-75, Bill C-5,
00:01:51.440 any of the soft on crime bills that reduce sentences for carrying illegal handguns.
00:01:56.580 And not, like, banned handguns from law-abiding gun owners.
00:02:00.980 No, no, no, the liberals back a couple years ago literally reduced the sentence for carrying a smuggled handgun from the United States.
00:02:09.600 So if, like, a gang member in Toronto gets caught with a firearm, they might not even serve a day in prison.
00:02:15.840 That's how bad it is.
00:02:16.960 And obviously he's not going to deal with this stuff.
00:02:18.700 So this all got me thinking, well, I want to read the liberals, you know, anti-crime agenda on their website.
00:02:26.780 I want to see what they say in detail about their policy.
00:02:30.760 I have a background in policy.
00:02:33.040 My bachelor degree is in policy studies.
00:02:35.620 I have a master in public policy.
00:02:37.260 That doesn't make me the most qualified person to speak on every subject, obviously.
00:02:41.300 But, you know, I can read a policy document and sort of evaluate whether or not this seems realistic,
00:02:47.320 whether it's going to fix the problems I know exist, especially because I do a lot of research in crime.
00:02:52.580 That's my entire research paper.
00:02:54.500 And for my master's degree was studying crime in Toronto.
00:02:58.220 And so I went to the liberal website.
00:03:01.440 And what was on the liberal website?
00:03:03.060 Well, let's explore it together.
00:03:05.120 Because I was blown away by how little is here.
00:03:10.200 Truly, Mark Carney and the liberals are running on nothing.
00:03:13.300 There is nothing here.
00:03:14.460 So I'm a bit of a spoiler alert here.
00:03:16.760 But we will attempt our darndest to find anything on the current liberal website.
00:03:22.340 This is not an old website.
00:03:23.720 Carney's face is right there.
00:03:25.040 This is the current one.
00:03:26.520 And we will try and find literally anything about crime on this website.
00:03:30.960 Before we get into this section, guys, I just want to remind you,
00:03:34.260 if you really like my federal election coverage and you want to keep up to date with it,
00:03:38.680 make sure to subscribe to the channel.
00:03:40.260 I'm trying to get to 100,000 subscribers by mid-December so I don't actually have to buy my friends dinner
00:03:46.860 because I have made the dumbest bet on the planet that if I do not get to 100,000 subscribers,
00:03:51.840 I owe all five of them dinner, whereas if I win, they just owe me dinner.
00:03:56.740 Anyways, so without further ado, let's get into this website.
00:04:00.540 Okay, so here we are on the landing page.
00:04:05.540 And right away, we have chip in.
00:04:07.240 Donate.
00:04:08.080 Donate up here.
00:04:08.940 Register volunteer.
00:04:09.920 Okay, fair enough.
00:04:10.820 Every party has this stuff.
00:04:12.460 And let's go, you know, sign up for the email thing.
00:04:16.260 We have some of the ads that they've been running.
00:04:18.640 It's just the videos.
00:04:20.020 And then you go down, they're asking for money again, the different victory funds,
00:04:23.380 the little things that they're doing to, you know, get people involved,
00:04:26.120 giving per month for specific functions of the party.
00:04:29.920 So let's go back up to the top.
00:04:31.900 We have Mark Carney here.
00:04:33.660 So what does this say?
00:04:34.360 So Mark Carney is the leader of the Liberal Party.
00:04:37.300 Mark Carney was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, and raised in Edmonton, Alberta.
00:04:42.160 Both of his parents were teachers.
00:04:43.500 Growing up, he played blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:04:45.860 And banker, you know, governor of the Bank of Canada.
00:04:48.660 It's honestly not that big.
00:04:50.220 He's basically governor of the Bank of Canada, governor of the Bank of England.
00:04:53.080 They really don't mention any Brookfield stuff on here because obviously that is extremely sketchy.
00:04:58.560 I don't even think they mentioned Goldman Sachs here.
00:05:01.040 They really wanted to downplay his work in the private sector for some reason.
00:05:05.920 Maybe it's because the Liberal Party has become so left-wing.
00:05:09.200 Doing anything in the private sector is considered a big red flag.
00:05:12.620 This stuff we don't need to see.
00:05:14.000 But this is all the things that they've been releasing on social media.
00:05:17.260 That, you know, here, Polyev's a mean, nasty man because something, something, Trump.
00:05:22.020 Let's go to the latest, guys.
00:05:25.160 The latest.
00:05:26.160 What you would assume to be the latest stuff they've done.
00:05:29.560 So let's go to blog here.
00:05:32.380 A tax break for all Canadians.
00:05:33.760 Looks like on the most recent one.
00:05:36.700 When was this published?
00:05:37.980 December 13, 2024.
00:05:39.640 So the latest thing that the Liberal Party of Canada has put on its website detailing something it is doing or something it wants to do was published by Justin Trudeau's team on December 13, 2024.
00:05:55.840 Around the same time, by the way, that Mark Carney was moving Brookfield Asset Management from Toronto to New York City, by the way.
00:06:02.260 So everything else here is literally just older crap.
00:06:07.720 It's just Justin Trudeau stuff.
00:06:09.740 Okay, well, let's try and find a platform.
00:06:12.640 Be part of it.
00:06:13.980 Commit to vote.
00:06:15.000 Join the movement.
00:06:16.020 Donate.
00:06:16.460 Events volunteer training shop.
00:06:18.060 Okay?
00:06:18.960 That doesn't help.
00:06:20.000 We have videos.
00:06:20.820 Are these the new videos?
00:06:22.360 Okay, some of these are actually newer videos.
00:06:24.460 I believe so.
00:06:25.600 Well, actually, let's check if these are even newer videos.
00:06:27.800 Okay, that's actually a newer video, but that was from when Mark Carney won the leadership of the Liberal Party.
00:06:36.880 Okay, well, about LPC?
00:06:40.220 Okay, there's literally nothing even about the LPC.
00:06:43.440 You can't even find anything about them.
00:06:47.980 Commissions, territorial boards, careers.
00:06:50.620 Okay.
00:06:53.540 Documents?
00:06:54.780 Do we have a platform here?
00:06:57.800 We don't even have policy resolutions passed since 2023 to read.
00:07:03.640 There is nothing here.
00:07:04.720 Okay.
00:07:05.980 I hope that...
00:07:06.720 I know this is boring, guys, but that's kind of the point.
00:07:09.980 There is literally nothing here for me to talk about.
00:07:13.280 We have the candidates.
00:07:15.840 This literally doesn't mean anything because we go to Armajit Sohi here, and what's it going to be?
00:07:21.440 Show your support.
00:07:22.700 Okay.
00:07:22.980 And it just says he's a local champion, good guy, and he's like the mayor of Edmonton or whatever.
00:07:28.040 Okay.
00:07:29.260 Platform.
00:07:30.120 Platform, platform, platform.
00:07:31.380 Can we find a platform here?
00:07:33.860 Find your riding.
00:07:34.760 Meteor releases.
00:07:35.660 Okay.
00:07:36.000 Well, what do we have here?
00:07:36.780 Meteor releases.
00:07:40.760 Okay.
00:07:41.120 I guess Mark Carney of Liberals announced New Canada Strong Pass?
00:07:44.440 Okay.
00:07:44.620 What does this do?
00:07:45.260 So April 12th is from today.
00:07:47.260 What's here?
00:07:47.760 Ottawa, Ontario.
00:07:50.380 With President Trump threatening our economy and sovereignty, Canada's are uniting to find new ways to discover and celebrate our beautiful country.
00:07:58.380 So many Canadians are cutting back vacations to the United States and instead making memories here at home, showing our Canadian pride.
00:08:04.400 And today, Mark Carney's Liberals announced New Canada Strong Pass so kids and young families can better discover and celebrate over the summer.
00:08:12.440 This builds our announcement to connect families with nature by making access to national parks and historic sites for free for everyone this summer.
00:08:19.960 Okay.
00:08:21.500 Who cares?
00:08:22.480 Okay.
00:08:22.680 I guess that's technically a policy.
00:08:25.200 Fighting crime?
00:08:26.240 Let's look at this one.
00:08:27.160 Okay.
00:08:29.680 This is literally just the thing before.
00:08:31.780 We're just going to be putting 1,000 RCMP and CBSI officers.
00:08:36.460 Increased funding to public prosecution.
00:08:38.920 There's no detail.
00:08:41.380 Toughen the criminal code and make bail law stricter for violent organized crime, home invasion, car stealing, and human trafficking, including for repeat offenders.
00:08:51.500 Okay.
00:08:51.800 Well, how are they going to do that?
00:08:54.020 They have to repeal their own laws, but it doesn't say they're going to do that here.
00:08:57.760 Invest in our first responders.
00:09:00.080 Aggressively pursue actions to protect children from online crimes.
00:09:03.340 Fight the horrifying rise in hate and protect our community.
00:09:06.700 So they're still going to push forward that bill C-36 or whatever.
00:09:11.480 Yeah.
00:09:13.300 There's nothing.
00:09:14.200 There's literally no platform.
00:09:15.780 There's like no solid platform.
00:09:17.360 They have some minor announcements here about, you know, giving the CBC money and some bullet points about how we're going to make Canadians healthier and happier.
00:09:25.180 And we're going to sing Kumbaya and kids are going to be able to go to national parks or whatever.
00:09:29.300 Other than maybe like reducing taxes by 1% for people under $50,000 in terms of income.
00:09:37.780 There's nothing, there's no, been no detail released by Mark Carney and the liberals whatsoever.
00:09:43.740 And the obnoxious thing is I keep hearing from liberal cheerleaders online that it's actually the conservatives who are just very, very shallow and all they do is sloganeer.
00:09:53.560 I have had people who go to Mark Carney, like events, rallies, and have reported on the fact that for the first 20 minutes of the rally, it's basically just Mark Carney repeating slogans.
00:10:07.120 Like, Canada should be strong.
00:10:09.400 We should stand up for Canadian workers.
00:10:12.400 We are not America.
00:10:14.240 We are not the 51st state.
00:10:15.660 And that is it.
00:10:16.360 And then he will go into platitudes about how we need safer communities.
00:10:20.200 So we are going to hire more police officers.
00:10:22.360 We are going to grow the economy by investing in Canada.
00:10:27.900 There's nothing going on here.
00:10:29.600 And yet the media, people who know better because they have policy backgrounds, let them get away with it.
00:10:35.620 Here is a big tell that the debate is probably not going to go very well for Mark Carney.
00:10:41.000 We already have liberal talking heads online trying to downplay the importance of the debate.
00:10:47.760 We have Chantal Hubert here saying, pretty much sums up how I also feel.
00:10:52.420 James Moore, why leader debates don't matter.
00:10:56.580 They do matter, especially in this election.
00:11:00.420 Do people remember the 1984 election where the whole thing really hinged on Brian Mulroney absolutely destroying John Turner in the debate?
00:11:10.220 John Turner being the other man who was the prime minister without actually being elected?
00:11:15.460 This stuff has happened before.
00:11:17.280 In fact, I would even say in the last few elections, big moments have occurred at the debates.
00:11:23.180 I don't think that, or I think that Andrew Scheer didn't beat Justin Trudeau in part because he had a bit of a lackluster debate performance.
00:11:31.300 Him turning to Trudeau and saying, you're unfit for office, you're unqualified, you're, you know, corrupt or whatever.
00:11:37.000 It was weak.
00:11:38.080 There wasn't really any good punches.
00:11:39.260 It was too mechanical.
00:11:40.220 And if he just did it better, it would have actually swung the vote harder.
00:11:43.880 And that was an election where if the conservatives gained like one, one and a half percent more of the vote on the national level, they'd be across the finish line.
00:11:52.500 They would have won.
00:11:54.400 So, yeah, I am enjoying seeing them basically like disassociate themselves from the whole idea, the concept of debating.
00:12:03.200 It's going to obviously be a big deal.
00:12:06.200 I actually was just talking to somebody on the phone a little bit ago and they pointed out the French debate is going to be horrific because even Jagmeet Singh will have far better French than Mark Carney does.
00:12:16.860 Again, Mark Carney keeps taking time off the campaign trail every time he hits a speed bump on the road.
00:12:24.760 The fact that he cannot stand up to very friendly media questions.
00:12:29.100 Yeah, they have to ask him about some liberal candidate scandals and they have to ask him an unkind question here and there because obviously if they didn't, they would look like super big propagandists.
00:12:39.620 And he can't even stand up to those questions.
00:12:42.620 It will be questions like about Paul Chang.
00:12:45.860 Those were really tough questions that Mark Carney was given.
00:12:48.740 It wasn't like it was the toughness of the question that defeated him.
00:12:52.160 It was his own lack of moral fiber that defeated him because he wouldn't disassociate from Paul Chang until way later that day when it was so obvious the previous days that they should have dropped him as a candidate.
00:13:04.120 By the way, they've replaced him with this Yun guy in Markham Unionville who also is connected to the CCP, maybe even in more dramatic fashions than Paul Chang because he attended a military parade in Beijing with the Chinese and the Russians, basically sat there pretending that he is a very important person because Xi Jinping's people had invited him out.
00:13:25.320 They are scandal plagued and every time that Mark Carney gets asked a question, he fumbles the ball and then needs to take a break.
00:13:32.160 He's not going to be able to do that on the 16th and the 17th when he has to do back-to-back French and then English debates, or I think English then French.
00:13:40.420 It's not going to work out.
00:13:42.180 Anyways, though, that should be it for me today, guys.
00:13:45.620 The liberals are truly not running on anything.
00:13:47.960 I would say that if you have any friends voting liberal because they think that Mark Carney has a plan, point them to the Liberal Party website and ask them to find you an actual concrete platform with detail.
00:14:00.540 Not bullet points saying we're going to make people happy, healthier, and smile more.
00:14:05.500 Find me the thing saying why, how we're going to fix crime.
00:14:09.000 Which bills, which bail reform bills are we going to get rid of to tighten up our laws prosecuting criminals?
00:14:16.520 You can't find it.
00:14:17.480 Other than a little bit of detail saying we're going to hire some more police officers and cut taxes a little bit, it's actually Polyev, the man constantly accused of only using platitudes, who has been the one giving very, very clear and consistent detail about what he wants to do, where he wants to cut spending, how much he wants to cut taxes, which laws he will repeal, and what he will replace them with.
00:14:41.140 It is not just saying we're going to tighten up the laws.
00:14:44.380 He will say how he will tighten up the laws.
00:14:47.220 Anyway, so that's it for me today, guys.
00:14:49.460 Like the video, subscribe to the channel, leave a comment, do all that great stuff, and I'll see you all later.
