00:00:13.940 But she is very clear that her job in the American Congress is to lobby for Somalia.
00:00:20.280 Now, what you do not know is Ilhan Omar's comments are so much worse than you think they are.
00:00:26.020 And to break down why Ilhan Omar, I'm going to make the case, is basically Adolf Hitler.
00:00:32.060 She has the same motivations as Adolf Hitler and the Nazis.
00:00:35.840 She is what you would call a far-right ethnic nationalist.

00:00:40.100 In order to explain why we have to go to one of the most neglected places in the world,

00:00:50.520 So in order to get here, we need a bit of a background of what is she even talking about right now?

00:01:06.640 Now, ethnically, Somalians aren't perfectly contained within that little country that is Somalia.
00:01:14.220 There's people who are a part of different ethnic tribes of Somalia, and they exist all throughout East Africa.
00:01:19.120 So you'll see some in Kenya, some in Ethiopia here.
00:01:22.280 We also have Somali land, which we're going to do, and then beside that, Djibouti.
00:01:25.780 And you'll go to see that Ilhan Omar claims all this territory as Somalia based on ethnic bloodlines, right?

00:01:45.960 You know, this was the philosophy of pan-Arab nationalism, and, you know, Ilhan Omar has come out as a pan-Somali nationalist within East Africa through blood and violence.

00:01:56.420 So the current kerfuffle, let's say, is based off Somalia.
00:02:01.840 So Somalia, again, it sucks as a country.
00:02:04.620 It's a failed state.
00:02:05.240 And it's being terrorized by Al-Shabaab, an Islamist militant unit, which is the most powerful faction in the country.
00:02:10.660 Breaking off from this, there is a one of the tribes or a sort of region of Somalia.
00:02:14.760 You see up here, just up on the horn, is Somaliland.
00:02:20.020 And they want independence from Somalia because it's a failed state.
00:02:23.420 Now, they're being backed by Ethiopia.
00:02:25.720 If you look at Ethiopia, Ethiopia here is landlocked.
00:02:29.240 On top of it is Eritrea, which is a nation that's like Black North Korea.
00:02:34.560 And they hate Ethiopia.
00:02:35.560 They've been through civil wars.
00:02:36.700 There was one in 1990.
00:02:38.120 And since then, Eritrea has turned into one of the most corrupt authoritarian regimes in the world.
00:02:44.660 And one of the big things is hating Ethiopia.
00:02:46.620 So they closed off the ports.
00:02:48.100 And Ethiopia is landlocked.
00:02:49.420 They want to be able to get port access.
00:02:51.520 They've been staying for a while.
00:02:52.340 So with the entire world occupied on Israel-Palestine, the Ethiopians have made a play for a port.
00:02:58.080 And this is backing Somaliland independence with a memorandum of understanding that they would get access to the ports and have financial trade running through Somaliland.
00:03:06.500 And that way, Ethiopia can take the burden off of it being landlocked.
00:03:09.760 Somaliland can get independence and then form some sort of government to counter Al-Shabaab in the region.
00:03:15.900 This has set Ilhan Omar into a tizzy.
00:03:19.660 All right, so let's get into what Ilhan Omar is saying here.
00:03:24.600 So we have, you know, the famous, you know, okay, here she is.
00:03:28.340 I'll play it for you and we'll make some commentary as it goes on because it's in Somali, so I'll copy it, right?

00:03:36.180 You see, she speaks in Somali.
00:03:37.180 We love each other.
00:03:39.200 You know, there are areas of friction that lead us to kill each other.
00:03:41.540 Okay, she's just talking about the fact that Somali is run by tribal warfare and it's a failed state.
00:03:45.740 But we're actually a very organized society, brothers and sisters.

00:03:48.880 People have the same blood, right?
00:03:50.460 So this is the blood argument.
00:03:52.380 We know that people are Somali first, Muslims second, and to protect our countries, right, we'll go on and we'll fight for Islam in other countries, right?

00:04:02.100 Now, there's people who call themselves Somalis and they're Somaliland.
00:04:05.460 Again, so this ethnic tie to Somalia is great.
00:04:09.580 And everyone who is of Somali heritage as I see it or part of these Somali tribes is Somalian.
00:04:14.860 Well, except for these people of Somali heritage who want to break off from Somalia, which is a failed state because the real push of Somalia is not the benefit of Somalians.
00:04:23.600 It's a pan-ethnic Somali hodgepodge of whatever it is.

00:04:29.580 Right now, she's talking about this memorandum of understanding Ethiopia, which I just explained, right?

00:05:14.700 But you should argue it based on an American perspective, not building some pan-Somali homeland for Iwan Omar, right?

00:05:47.640 Now, to blame all this in Ethiopia, again, what she is talking about is Ethiopia getting port access in Somaliland, which wants to separate from Somalia because it's a failed state.
00:05:58.840 And if you notice, it's interesting that Ilhan Omar, who loves Somalia so much, has never had this type of passion for the al-Shabaab terrorists who have been brutalizing and murdering, you know, Somali civilians for decades.

00:06:14.120 It's really the fact that, oh, no, we cannot have Somaliland declare independence and then sign an agreement with Ethiopia to facilitate trade between the two of them.

00:08:45.280 She is a far-right ethnic nationalist who wants religious and ethnic conflict-based Africa to promote her own ethnic group supremacy.
00:08:53.860 This is, you know, hard-right, ethno-nationalism, expanationalism warfare to rule as an ethnic majority based on, you know, Islamic principles.

00:09:06.020 So, again, she's claiming that Ethiopia and Kenya have already stolen their lands.
00:09:13.040 No part of Ethiopia and Kenya were ever officially part of any Somalia.
00:09:17.140 For example, Ethiopia was, like, one of the last countries to be colonized.
00:09:19.960 It was only really colonized under fascist Italy when Mussolini took it over, which is superior air power.
00:09:26.460 But they resisted the Italians, like, 100 years earlier.
00:09:30.440 There are people within Ethiopia who come from certain tribes elsewhere, right?
00:09:35.080 This is part of human beings.
00:09:38.120 Like, this should make sense to anyone.
00:09:39.520 But she's claiming that because they're people of the current ethnic Somali heritage in India and in Kenya, and even though no Somali official government ever existed within those lands, because there are ethnic Somalis in those countries.
00:09:56.940 Again, even ethnic Somalis fight within each other.
00:09:59.160 Like, that's what we talked about at the beginning.
00:10:00.340 There's so much intertribal warfare.
00:10:01.400 But because there's some people that fall under some Somali umbrella in those countries, those lands are then stolen from Somalia, and they will be reclaimed through expansionist warfare to create a pan-Somali state.
00:10:14.860 Because the regular Somali state's doing so great.
00:10:16.920 So, all right, the history between Ethiopia and Somali can be summed up as this.
00:10:24.220 Back when Ethiopia had more pro-democratic government, like Haile Selassie type, there was a lot of Soviet shenanigans in East Africa.
00:10:33.240 The Soviets did much more, like, colonial shenanigans in East Africa, and the West kind of ignored it.
00:10:38.300 So, the Soviets were working to undermine Ethiopia and pushed up this ethnic Somali separatism, because the Somali tribes were more, were happy to sort of take money from the Soviets and kind of work together to undermine Western interests for their own tribal gains.
00:10:52.080 And they, but in the 70s, Ethiopia had a communist revolt and openly became communists, so the Soviets withdrew all their support for the Somalis, because they didn't need half communists when they had full communists, right?
00:11:02.520 This is where you then had Eritrea and, you know, members of the Tigray ethnicity fight against the communists to end the communist government.
00:11:10.060 Then you had the formation of Eritrea, which turned into an even worse government, and then they fought with Ethiopia in the early 90s in the Civil War, Djibouti gets involved.
00:11:18.380 Needless to say, that's sort of the background there.
00:11:21.620 And because Ethiopia is now a landmark because they lost Eritrea, they want port access.
00:11:25.660 And Somalia wants to break away, Somaliland wants to break away from Somalia, because Somalia is a failed state run by warring ethnic tribes who haven't been able to find any sort of basic coexistence at all.
00:11:38.320 And if you want to call me hypocritical, because I'll support Somaliland's independence, but not other separatist movements in nations like Iran or India, it's because the main problem with, you know, ethnic separatism is it can turn a country into Somalia.
00:11:52.200 Calistan will instantly become a failed state and will be a proxy for both Chinese and Pakistani interference, it will devolve into ethnic violence, great conflict.
00:11:59.920 That's the fear of ethnic separatism within somewhat functioning countries.
00:12:05.280 But Somalia is a failed state.
00:12:07.320 It is ethnic warfare.
00:12:08.460 It is that worst case scenario.
00:12:09.720 So if a country, if a region wants to break off, form an actual democracy, fight against the terrorists in Al-Shabaab, and form an alliance with Ethiopia, a regional neighbor for mutual prosperity, that the West doesn't have to get involved in.

00:12:28.560 And if Somaliland can become a viable state with the backing of Ethiopian trade, and Ethiopia can be an even more viable and prosperous state now that they afford access, and that's, they can get into a mutually symbiotic relationship with Somaliland, great, great.
