Transcript

00:00:00.000 Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the Wyatt Claypool Show.
00:00:04.340 To put it mildly, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in a very tough position.
00:00:09.340 Deservedly so. The Atlantic Liberal Caucus wants him to resign.
00:00:13.600 Reportedly, the Quebec Liberal Caucus also wants him to resign.
00:00:17.460 And many individual Liberal MPs and Liberal influencers have been calling on Trudeau to step down
00:00:23.100 and be replaced by Chrystia Freeland as the new Liberal Prime Minister going into the 2025 federal election,
00:00:30.600 which just feels like a repeat of Brian Mulroney stepping down and being replaced by Kim Campbell.
00:00:35.660 Let's be honest. Chrystia Freeland is the living embodiment of the color beige,
00:00:40.280 so I don't know why the Liberals think that this would be a big improvement,
00:00:43.760 but at least they are convinced it would somehow help them in the polling by replacing Trudeau with Freeland.
00:00:49.280 Anyways, Trudeau is not surrounded by a lot of allies at this point,
00:00:54.980 but he still has one ally left that he is running to to try and recover some of his popularity,
00:01:00.580 that being the Canadian legacy media, because he pays them.
00:01:04.420 Let's be honest. He pays them, so they're friendly with him.
00:01:06.720 They give him softball interviews.
00:01:08.440 But Trudeau, the other day, just did a very embarrassing interview with This Hour is 22 Minutes.
00:01:14.260 Maybe he thought by doing an interview on a comedy show, he'd come off as light and he can be self-effacing and all this stuff.
00:01:22.220 He can still be funny.
00:01:23.940 The problem is Trudeau isn't funny.
00:01:26.020 He's not self-effacing.
00:01:27.240 He doesn't have the ability to be light, because at all times, he thinks he's better than you.
00:01:32.900 So he always comes off as sanctimonious and unable to actually play into the joke.
00:01:38.280 I'm going to show you this interview.
00:01:39.480 We'll watch the full four and a half minutes.
00:01:41.980 And just, you know, let me know what you think in the comments below.
00:01:45.080 Remember, subscribe to this channel if you like me and you don't have, you know, you haven't yet subscribed.
00:01:49.880 Come on, what are you guys doing?
00:01:51.280 Like this video, all that other stuff.
00:01:53.200 But here is this 22 Minutes interview.
00:01:55.900 Suffer through it with me.
00:01:57.740 Happy New Year, Prime Minister.
00:01:59.080 Happy New Year, Mark.
00:01:59.780 Oh, 2024, what a garbage year, hey?
00:02:04.420 We've all had a horrible 2024, but nobody's had a harder 2024 than you.
00:02:08.560 I mean, down and up holes, inflation, tariffs.
00:02:11.860 Pierre Palliev called you a wacko.
00:02:14.100 I mean, just a garbage year.
00:02:15.940 And for Canadians, it's been a great comfort that no matter how bad 2024 got, we could always say, you know what?
00:02:22.180 At least we're not Justin Trudeau.
00:02:24.460 You had a hard year.
00:02:25.960 You went through, I don't want to get personal, but you went through a devastating breakup.
00:02:31.380 Of course, I mean Jagmeet Singh.
00:02:34.400 How's your heart?
00:02:35.360 Look, these are actually decently funny lines from Mark.
00:02:38.680 But you'll notice that as the thing goes on, Trudeau's just unable to actually, like, I guess, vibe with him at all.
00:02:45.020 And he just comes off like he wants to do a serious interview this whole time.
00:02:48.140 Because I know he was the only one who supplied you with confidence.
00:02:50.600 You know, we got good things done together as progressives, and we're going to still try to bring them along on the more progressive things we're doing.
00:02:58.700 That's a good attitude.
00:03:00.300 You know, and there's a lot of fishing to see.
00:03:02.340 I mean, you still got the Bloc Québécois and the green part.
00:03:05.020 You should have put a ring on it.
00:03:06.860 Then, of course, you had the low point of the year for you.
00:03:10.980 Kind of embarrassed all Canadians when you were caught on tape dancing to Taylor Swift.
00:03:16.640 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Toronto attending a...
00:03:19.040 Obviously, they're not actually going to be asking Trudeau serious questions in this.
00:03:23.160 But even this, when it goes back to Trudeau, Trudeau cannot pass the ball.
00:03:27.520 Every time Mark tries to set him up for, like, something to be funny about, Trudeau immediately just, like, starts talking about, well, you know, that's how politics works.
00:03:35.140 Taylor Swift concert with his family.
00:03:36.520 I was in the mood.
00:03:37.260 I was going on.
00:03:38.100 You're wearing your Swiftie bracelet.
00:03:39.840 I still have it.
00:03:40.300 How old are you?
00:03:40.980 Well, you have to remember, you know, you can't really dance like no one is watching.
00:03:44.860 You have to dance like someone is filming you on your phone.
00:03:47.220 Well, that's just the era we're in right now.
00:03:50.200 Well, if anybody needs to shake it off.
00:03:52.100 Okay.
00:03:52.360 There you can see.
00:03:53.000 I know the note.
00:03:53.840 Can anyone notice the amount of editing in this interview so far?
00:03:58.500 Every time, again, Mark tries desperately to pass the ball to Trudeau.
00:04:02.720 Trudeau's, like, fumbling it because he doesn't have the ability to be light or funny.
00:04:07.220 Even though Trudeau in 2015 could be charismatic, I didn't like him back in 2015, but there's a reason he won a majority government.
00:04:14.300 Here, he's, like, wanting Mark to make all the jokes, and then every time he goes over to Trudeau, he's like, oh, yes, I like Taylor Swift.
00:04:21.260 You know, I'm going to go with you.
00:04:22.260 And then, like all good Quebecers, when it got cold, you frigged off down to Florida.
00:04:27.160 You went to Mar-a-Lago.
00:04:28.520 How exciting.
00:04:29.540 How was the food?
00:04:30.300 Was it as plastic as the people in the surgery?
00:04:32.660 Actually, it was a really good steak.
00:04:34.460 When you were there, Donald Trump said, quite frankly, Canada should become the 51st state, and he'd let you stay on as the governor, which is the best offer you've had in a while.
00:04:44.320 Now, should Canada become the 51st state?
00:04:47.140 And I'm not against it because at least then we have a chance to win the Stanley Cup again.
00:04:51.440 Yeah, there was a lot discussed during those three hours.
00:04:54.700 That was an offhand jocular moment.
00:04:59.040 I don't think it was serious, even from him.
00:05:01.760 And then he tweeted a picture of him standing with a Canadian flag, looking out at a mountain range, but that was actually Switzerland.
00:05:08.420 Oh, my goodness.
00:05:09.760 And then even Mark is screwing this up because, like, at a moment where you could actually make jokes at Trudeau's expense and then maybe Trudeau can try and be light and kind of bounce off you a bit, everything goes back to trying to make fun of Trump.
00:05:24.700 And, oh, you know, he posted a picture, an AI picture, and it's actually the Swiss Alps, not Canada, that he's looking over with the Canadian flag.
00:05:30.720 What is this?
00:05:31.500 And, again, throughout this, we're halfway through, basically, and Trudeau still just seems like he's just, like, he is the stiffest interview I've ever seen.
00:05:41.220 Mark is trying to be funny, and, like, Trudeau just keeps giving him, like, neutral answers to everything.
00:05:46.000 That's the Matterhorn, wasn't it?
00:05:47.120 Yeah.
00:05:47.440 Is that our greatest defense?
00:05:49.040 Is that Americans are really bad at geography?
00:05:51.220 I think our greatest defense is that we do things together across the border, and anything they do that will hurt us will also hurt them, and that's something that he doesn't want to do.
00:06:01.980 Trump wants you to secure the border.
00:06:03.620 You know who should get to do that?
00:06:06.400 The Freedom Convoy people.
00:06:08.040 You just line up all those trucks along the border, and, you know, they love to barricade things.
00:06:12.840 There's no drugs getting past them.
00:06:14.400 And you don't even have to pay him or feed him because Pierre Polyevich is going to go back and forth all day giving him Timbits.
00:06:18.660 And so we have American jokes, we have jokes at the Freedom Convoy and conservatives, but it's like, okay, he actually had some good lines off at the start with Trudeau, but, like, you're on the interview with Trudeau.
00:06:30.760 Did, like, Trudeau request that you don't make fun of him too much?
00:06:34.780 Because this is just boring now, because obviously Trudeau's giving him nothing to work with at all.
00:06:39.480 Trudeau's just staring into his soul, trying to make his poll numbers go up by, like, I don't know, making Mark tell people to vote liberal.
00:06:46.780 Went down there, he liked that.
00:06:47.820 That kind of likes to be flattered.
00:06:49.160 Would you consider inviting him up to Canada for a state visit like you did for President Biden?
00:06:54.620 Yes.
00:06:55.220 That would be nice.
00:06:56.260 He'd like that.
00:06:57.660 No, if you strengthen the border, he can't get in because he's a convicted felon.
00:07:02.160 We'll see how.
00:07:03.600 Yeah.
00:07:04.240 Oh, my goodness, Mark, you're not funny.
00:07:06.780 You had one good joke at the start about Jagmeet.
00:07:09.620 And we know that 40 years ago, your father famously took a walk in the snow when the Conservatives were up in the polls and decided it was time to give it up.
00:07:20.500 It's snowing out there now.
00:07:21.840 When my father was my age, he still had a dozen years of prime ministering ahead of him.
00:07:30.300 Oh, my God.
00:07:32.700 Another dozen years?
00:07:34.260 Good God, no.
00:07:34.940 I think Pierre Polyev is at 99% in the polls.
00:07:39.280 Do you think you can do this?
00:07:41.660 Yes.
00:07:42.460 Why?
00:07:43.040 Right now, we're in a moment where everything is difficult.
00:07:46.540 And Pierre Polyev is trying to...
00:07:48.000 The answer is he's delusional.
00:07:50.160 He's delusional.
00:07:51.360 Convince Canadians not to believe in themselves, not to believe in the CBC, not to believe in climate change, not believe in gun control, not believe in women's rights.
00:07:58.840 I believe Canadians rise to the occasion.
00:08:01.380 And I am certainly not going to stop fighting at this moment where it's so important.
00:08:06.760 That's beautiful.
00:08:08.240 You know who you remind me of?
00:08:10.120 Mike Tyson.
00:08:11.260 I can't.
00:08:13.120 Oh, my goodness.
00:08:14.500 Just absolutely taking the joke behind the barn and just kicking it to death.
00:08:18.280 Just executing the joke gangland style.
00:08:22.940 Young Mike Tyson.
00:08:23.780 Politics right now is full of vitriol and hate and things are getting crazy.
00:08:29.000 And we need to take the temperature down.
00:08:32.020 So I want to wish you a great 2025.
00:08:35.000 And I have a little gift that I hope will help do that.
00:08:38.640 I look forward to your gifts every year.
00:08:41.860 Oh, what's it going to be?
00:08:43.420 Oh, come on.
00:08:44.600 Oh, no.
00:08:45.160 Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:08:48.000 Good luck.
00:08:51.480 More of these flags everywhere, please.
00:08:53.480 Good luck in 2025 because you're going to need it.
00:08:57.860 That was just horrible.
00:08:59.880 Man.
00:09:01.060 Oh, if you didn't have a reason to give up on life, that was a good one.
00:09:04.980 Again, why did Trudeau gain out of any of this?
00:09:09.580 It only ended up showing all of his actual flaws as a politician.
00:09:14.040 That when he's great, this is actually the thing that probably a great way of describing Trudeau.
00:09:19.480 He's great when he's up.
00:09:21.120 But when he's down, he's terrible.
00:09:23.300 Justin Trudeau does not have the ability to recover.
00:09:25.540 You'll even remember, after SNC-Lavalin, his poll numbers sort of trailed off enough that in 2019, he couldn't win a majority.
00:09:32.620 And then after that, trailed off a little bit more.
00:09:34.620 As Trudeau goes down, he only slides into all of his negatives.
00:09:38.780 And so he continues to be sanctimonious.
00:09:40.720 Here's another video from him.
00:09:42.620 You think they would try and do something slightly self-aware at this moment.
00:09:45.820 But no, they're going to try and happy talk their way through everything because Trudeau can only ever project his dominance, that he's on top, that he's doing good things.
00:09:55.700 He says, only our liberal team is fighting for you to make life more affordable and build a strong economy.
00:10:02.700 I'm going to go.
00:10:03.520 I want to show you this video.
00:10:04.840 And then I want to show you Jagmeet's video because it's very ironic that both of them are the exact same, despite Jagmeet pretending that they're like completely different politicians with different priorities.
00:10:12.960 2024 was a year of delivering progress.
00:10:16.180 Together, we made investments to build nearly 4 million homes and protect renters.
00:10:20.980 It's still literally a fantasy plan.
00:10:23.240 That is, I could make declarations from my basement here and it will have more of an impact than Trudeau saying we're going to build 4 million homes because there's no mechanism to let them build those homes.
00:10:35.140 And in fact, all their housing plans keep driving down the amount of housing being built.
00:10:39.220 My goodness.
00:10:39.680 We delivered dental care and more $10 a day child care spaces.
00:10:44.340 We started a national school food program and moved forward on national universal pharma care.
00:10:50.240 Our liberal team is...
00:10:51.200 Why is it that people are so poor that they can't afford school lunch, dental care, or their pharmaceuticals?
00:10:57.740 People could afford them at least more easily under Harper.
00:11:00.760 And we didn't have the programs, by the way.
00:11:02.420 It's fighting for you to make life more affordable and build a stronger economy.
00:11:07.160 Only with your support can we keep building a better future for everyone.
00:11:12.400 It's horrible.
00:11:17.380 It's bad.
00:11:18.440 But we will swiftly move along to Jagmeet Singh.
00:11:21.760 And a reminder, again, if you guys are not yet subscribed, make sure to subscribe.
00:11:24.920 We're almost at 30,000 subscribers.
00:11:27.500 I am well on the way to getting to the 100,000 I plan to be at by December of this year.
00:11:32.120 But here's Jagmeet Singh, who supposedly is against Trudeau, going to make a video that is basically Trudeau, like Trudeau's video from the NDP's perspective, despite the fact that supposedly the liberals are super corporate.
00:11:45.920 The truth is the NDP are very corporate, too.
00:11:48.380 They just pretend not to be.
00:11:49.480 Because the thing is that big government people tend to create a lot of corporations to manage things.
00:11:55.060 They just don't like private corporations, even though for grocery store chains, as much as Jagmeet Singh attacks them, higher regulations and taxes have been boxing out their competition.
00:12:04.160 So even though their profit margins have been going down, their competition has also been going away.
00:12:09.060 2024 was a battle.
00:12:10.740 Let me give you a bit of the year in review.
00:12:12.500 Three of the biggest fights that we fought.
00:12:14.060 First off, 1.2 million people across the country received dental care because of the NDP dental care program.
00:12:22.540 Yeah, it was the NDP dental care program, the supplementary part of the government.
00:12:27.320 The bloc voted for it, too.
00:12:29.360 It doesn't mean anything.
00:12:30.660 It would have passed regardless.
00:12:32.260 And again, why is it that he keeps saying that Trudeau betrayed us, even though all these accomplishments that the NDP did were with the help of the liberals?
00:12:41.220 Like, these are stupid programs.
00:12:42.600 No, 1.2 million people did not get helped by the dental care program because the dental care program basically applies to everybody.
00:12:50.180 Every time someone goes get dental care, the liberal government can say, and now the NDP can say,
00:12:55.900 oh, look, 1.2 million people who qualify for the universal dental care program went to go get dental care.
00:13:01.520 Show me the chart of people who have never received dental care in the past 10 years who have finally gotten it.
00:13:06.020 No doubt some.
00:13:07.120 But the problem is the program's flawed and bloated, so it's going to cost a lot of money to get very few people some minor dental care.
00:13:14.280 Plus, there's still deductibles attached to it.
00:13:16.080 You still have to pay some.
00:13:17.500 That has changed the lives of so many people.
00:13:19.740 An incredible fight.
00:13:20.500 Secondly, pharmacare.
00:13:22.040 We passed the law starting with diabetes medication and devices and free birth control.
00:13:27.120 We're going to expand and include more, but this was a big fight, and we were able to secure that for people.
00:13:31.460 And finally, in the long run, we are going to have less, like, a stricter access to diabetes medication, insulin devices.
00:13:40.220 But, guys, free condoms.
00:13:42.020 Free condoms, guys.
00:13:43.220 Free.
00:13:44.140 With no charge.
00:13:45.380 Except your taxes.
00:13:46.600 A school food program across the country.
00:13:48.960 This is to help kids get a nutritious meal at school, help alleviate some of the pressure on the shoulders of families that are struggling with a high cost of groceries.
00:13:56.980 But this was a battle.
00:13:58.120 Liberals and conservatives.
00:13:59.120 Such a battle.
00:14:01.020 He's like.
00:14:01.940 Fought back, but we didn't give up because we had people on our side.
00:14:05.780 Oh, yeah, no doubt you were in Justin Trudeau's office, like, Brazilian jiu-jitsu wrestling him down and forcing his hand with a pen in it to sign the bill to put forward, like, the lunches for kids.
00:14:19.460 These are all things the Liberals literally ran on in the 2021 platform, and he's pretending that he's the one getting it to happen.
00:14:26.340 Now we know that working and middle-class families need so much more hope and relief.
00:14:31.520 So in 2025, we're going to change everything.
00:14:33.960 Like, oh, he's going to change.
00:14:35.680 Guys, he's going to change everything.
00:14:38.320 What's with the weird saxophone in the background of that video, too?
00:14:42.020 There's this kind of, like, weirdly, like, you know, softcore romantic kind of, like, saxophone beat going on in the background.
00:14:50.300 Like, boop, boop, boop, boop.
00:14:52.360 I don't know.
00:14:53.540 It's bad.
00:14:54.460 The Liberals and the NDP.
00:14:55.760 Those two videos are the same video, except somehow the NDP is against the Liberals.
00:14:59.960 But they literally advertise themselves the complete same.
00:15:02.760 The parties definitely are different.
00:15:05.200 But the thing is, the things that they value are pretty much the same, except that the NDP wants way more of it than the Liberals do.
00:15:11.900 And so we're supposed to assume that all these things were only passed because the NDP were there, or at least the extent of the program wouldn't have been as big unless the NDP were there.
00:15:21.560 Guys, the programs suck.
00:15:24.200 Nobody likes the programs.
00:15:25.840 Everyone thinks that they're bloated and terrible.
00:15:27.960 There's a reason why 65% of Canadians think we spend too much money, which is, like, a cataclysmic event in Canada.
00:15:36.020 Usually Canadians will just say, yeah, I think we should spend more because it sounds compassionate.
00:15:40.240 These days, to a man, basically, everyone's like, yeah, we spend too much.
00:15:43.940 Because even with that 65% statistic, it still has, like, 18% who are, like, don't know, who probably are going to side with the majority over time.
00:15:52.300 Anyways, that's it for me today, guys.
