The Gordie Howe Bridge deal is a bridge across the Hudson River between Toronto and Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It was supposed to be a revenue sharing deal between Canada and the United States, but it appears that's not the case at all.

00:00:00.000 In Canadian politics, I always find whenever the Liberals are in trouble, the legacy media's coverage of the story becomes a story in and of itself,
00:00:10.040 because they refuse to lay blame at the feet of Prime Minister Mark Carney, even when he is absolutely blameworthy,
00:00:18.220 because they're funded by the Liberal federal government, and they're not going to bite the hand that feeds them.
00:00:24.160 I know I talked about this in my previous video, but that was a fairly brief segment of the video.
00:00:30.000 I want to extend this out just to marvel at just how twisted the headlines are
00:00:35.280 when it comes to the Gordie Howe Bridge situation,
00:00:37.740 and then I want to move into some CBC coverage regarding just general trade issues with the United States.
00:00:44.620 I posted this on X just a little bit ago, just a montage of a bunch of the headlines on Google right now,
00:00:51.860 but I want to take you through a few specific ones to make my point.
00:00:55.880 Here's one.
00:00:57.240 How does the new Gordie Howe Bridge deal compare to the original one?
00:01:01.440 Next one.
00:01:02.900 Gordie Howe Bridge revenue sharing agreement appears to contradict Carney.
00:01:07.200 Another one.
00:01:08.580 Gordie Howe Bridge deal released as conservatives accused Carney of lying.
00:01:14.360 I'm sorry, what?
00:01:16.700 That's not the story.
00:01:18.020 None of these headlines are the story.
00:01:20.740 No, Mark Carney did lie.
00:01:23.680 There's no way around this.
00:01:25.520 He lied.
00:01:26.500 He said something, and the truth was the opposite of what he said.
00:01:31.800 As I talked about in the previous video, people like Liberal MP Mark Gerritsen were going around accusing Pierre Polyev and the Conservatives of both spreading misinformation and disinformation.
00:01:44.320 Accusing the Conservatives of knowingly lying about what was in the deal, when in fact the reverse was true.
00:01:50.480 Mark Carney and Mark Gerritsen were lying about what was in the deal, despite having access to the deal.
00:01:56.500 despite being the ones who helped craft and sign the deal.
00:02:01.220 And yet we have these media outlets saying,
00:02:03.200 oh, the conservatives are accusing them of lying,
00:02:05.600 which invites liberal audience members to assume
00:02:08.300 that the conservatives must be just making up things.
00:02:11.640 It's just hyperbole.
00:02:13.100 They're trying to catch Mark Carney out on a small technicality
00:02:16.720 and they're accusing him of lying.
00:02:17.960 That is what that headline ends up fostering
00:02:21.100 in default liberal viewers of the story.
00:02:23.720 With the global news one, Gordie Howe Bridge Revenue Sharing Agreement appears to contradict Carney. No, it does contradict Carney. And it contradicts him because he was lying. He was saying the opposite of what the deal actually said.
00:02:40.580 He claimed profit sharing when the deal was revenue sharing.
00:02:45.220 He claimed that we were going to be able to take not only maintenance costs out of the revenues before they were split,
00:02:50.880 but also operating costs as well as the interest costs for the bridge and other things to do with the construction costs.
00:02:58.460 That's not true.
00:02:59.660 The only things included in the deal are maintenance and snow removal,
00:03:04.820 the two lowest cost aspects of the bridge in the opening few years.
00:03:10.580 Snow removal doesn't cost all that much.
00:03:12.700 You know, yes, for a bridge that big, it's going to cost more than your driveway.
00:03:15.860 But in the grand scheme of things, it's a fairly minor cost.
00:03:18.620 And maintenance costs for a brand new piece of infrastructure is also going to be far lower than what it would be in, let's say, like 50 years.
00:03:26.860 And now let's get to the last one before I move into what I originally said in my post.
00:03:31.060 This one was quite funny.
00:03:32.960 How does this new Gordie Howe bridge deal compare to the original one?
00:03:36.200 wow that makes you want to take some melatonin and fall asleep you're really burying the lead
00:03:43.640 here the prime minister of the country lied about the deal he was running away from reporters the
00:03:49.500 previous day for asking questions what he said is the direct opposite of what he claimed and the
00:03:56.600 opposite of his elbows up brand can all what claw machine did all these people get their journalism
00:04:04.060 degrees from. It's maddening that they can get away with this. We need a media czar who basically
00:04:12.600 oversees any legacy media that gets money from the government because they should be forced to
00:04:18.540 change their headlines if it's just obviously obfuscating what the truth is because they know
00:04:24.020 a lot of people will see the headline pop up on their phone and they'll assume that that and the
00:04:28.580 subheader and maybe the summation that their AI gives them on their phone of what the story said.
00:04:33.000 that's probably what it was rather than going down sometimes four, five, six lines into the story
00:04:39.680 when it finally says Carney said it was profit sharing, Buddy lied, and it's basically full
00:04:44.220 revenue share, and pretty much President Donald Trump is eating his lunch. But this is what I said
00:04:49.080 in my original post. The Canadian media is incapable of admitting that Prime Minister
00:04:54.760 Mark Carney lied about the Goree Howe bridge deal. Let's say Hasbro said batteries included
00:05:00.320 in a product when batteries were not included when you go and buy the product. We would not say,
00:05:05.900 quote, battery situation seems to contradict Hasbro, unquote, or, quote, new product releases
00:05:12.380 as rival Mattel accuses Hasbro of lying, or, quote, how does Hasbro's new product compare to
00:05:19.040 the original marketing material? We would just say they lied. And, you know, shock gasp, I agree
00:05:24.440 with myself there, but I'm trying to be a bit quippy about it because we would never put up
00:05:29.320 with this in any other situation. If Kiripolyev, if Danielle Smith, if any conservative had claimed
00:05:36.580 one thing that the liberals had done, and then it was the opposite, there would be headlines all
00:05:42.680 over the place saying that the conservatives had lied. If the deal came out and Mark Carney was
00:05:46.360 absolutely telling the truth, there would be headlines saying that the conservatives were
00:05:50.040 liars. Even though the conservatives never accused him of lying until today when it was proven,
00:05:55.220 And they were just saying, we want to see the deal because based on the conflicting sort of statements they're making and the very confusing way they're wording this net profit sharing kind of like agreement when the before the deal was released, they're saying, we want to see the real thing.
00:06:09.360 We feel like this sounds a bit dishonest. Can you give us some transparency? But the media would have absolutely skewered them, even though they hadn't actually done anything wrong.
00:06:18.580 But Carney does something objectively wrong. And the media is like nowhere to be seen. They're like looking at their shoes. They're like focusing in on like the parts of the agreement that don't matter whatsoever. And now I need to bring you to some CBC coverage that is absolutely wild on the situation. Because this video that I believe was from a segment from today, just says Ottawa calls off bridge opening ceremony with the United States.
00:06:45.700 Now, let's watch this.
00:06:47.080 We're not going to watch the full three minutes and 44 seconds,
00:06:49.560 but watch this setup and notice how they never actually mention anything to do
00:06:55.080 with the Gordie Howe Bridge deals, details coming out, and Mark Carney lying.
00:06:59.800 Ottawa has called off a joint Canada-U.S. celebration
00:07:02.860 to open the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
00:07:05.500 The new link between Windsor and Detroit is still set to open Monday,
00:07:09.600 but a special event will, for now anyway,
00:07:11.780 be held only on this side of the border on Friday.
00:07:16.060 Looking back, the bridge was not only meant to improve the trade link
00:07:19.340 between the U.S. and Canada and bolster both economies,
00:07:22.000 it was hailed as a symbol of friendship and partnership.
00:07:25.520 The CBC's Aaron Wary has been looking into that,
00:07:28.360 and he joins me live from Ottawa.
00:07:30.060 So, Aaron, can you take us through how this project was viewed
00:07:33.080 when it was first proposed versus where it is now
00:07:36.820 with a cancelled party celebrating its opening,
00:07:39.720 or at least not inviting the Americans.
00:07:42.960 Yeah. 0.78
00:07:44.240 Now, notice what they did there.
00:07:46.900 They made this issue kind of implying that the issue is about Trump,
00:07:51.280 about how the Americans have been mean to us recently with the new terror threats,
00:07:54.900 and that's the implied reason why the bridge isn't going to be opened
00:07:58.540 in a joint ribbon cutting between the Canadians and the Americans.
00:08:02.660 No, it was probably cancelled because it's an embarrassing situation for Carney
00:08:07.460 because he lied about the deal and he is getting absolutely fleeced on a bridge that Canada paid
00:08:13.300 for 100%. That's why he doesn't want to be in the same. That's why he doesn't want a bridge
00:08:18.560 opening where he and Trump are at it or even just representatives of the US and Canada are at it
00:08:23.140 because it will remind people of the thing he lied about. Because let's say if you were canceling
00:08:29.800 this because of the trade situation, you're stupid. Why wouldn't you want that to be used 1.00
00:08:34.840 as an opportunity to make a statement about how we're better together and we should be doing more
00:08:39.320 together rather than tariffing each other. You could use it as a great platform to speak out
00:08:44.340 against tariffs and propose some ways of coming together and basically going guns down on both
00:08:50.160 sides and having fewer tariffs. You could easily do that. They're not doing that. That's not why
00:08:55.140 they're walking away from doing a joint bridge unveiling. Because really, it's about him being
00:09:01.480 embarrassed on the deal he made with Donald Trump, giving him 50% of the revenues on a bridge that
00:09:06.140 the Americans didn't put a penny into. And as I've been using the analogy throughout this week now,
00:09:12.620 and I think it's a good one, Mark Carney is a broken vending machine and Donald Trump will
00:09:17.980 keep kicking it because he gets free sodas every time he does it. If you got a free can of Coke,
00:09:22.800 every time you kicked a vending machine, you'd keep kicking it. Now, I think morally speaking,
00:09:28.040 I think we're all against stealing, and we wouldn't all do that. But in a very morally
00:09:32.220 gray world where we're just trying to get by, you'd keep kicking it to get a free bag of chips
00:09:37.500 or a can of Coke. That is why Donald Trump is going after us, but not the Mexicans. Because 0.96
00:09:43.420 the Mexicans are not a broken vending machine that gets you free products for slapping at it. 0.88
00:09:47.580 Mark Carney is. And now I want to jump over to this other segment on the CBC with our favorite
00:09:53.900 host, Mr. David Cochran, who, of course, has this whole segment where we talk about the trade deal
00:10:01.400 issue from the perspective of Trump's bad. Trump sucks. And really, all of this, that's all you 1.00
00:10:09.320 need to know, is that Trump's bad. We shouldn't never analyze, not for a second, that Mark Carney's
00:10:14.800 incompetent. Now, check out this part of the interview where he asks Tim Powers a question,
00:10:19.580 And I think Tim Powers does a good job of summing up the default CBC liberal position on trade, all of the dumb excuse making that will be made for the next month or Mark Carney until he either caves on the trade agreement and actually sign something or we end up having even more tariffs applied to us.
00:10:39.840 The five percent. So, Tim, like the other tariffs, the one 10 percent tariff is going to probably go away Friday.
00:10:47.140 Others will come on stream. They might be the 308.
00:10:49.780 I don't know if I'm getting my legislation or my ammunition mixed up. 0.96
00:10:54.760 But what are your thoughts on what Greer had to say and sort of what this all tells us about where the Kuzma stuff is?
00:11:01.580 months. No, to give you some context, Jameson Greer had kind of repeated Trump talking points
00:11:08.240 about how Canada's been unfair to America on trade and this and that. And we're just doing
00:11:13.100 this to try and rectify trade imbalances. Now, I don't agree with Trump and Jameson Greer on that
00:11:18.840 issue. It is a lot of just kind of noise in order to justify what they're doing. At the end of the
00:11:24.060 day, really doesn't matter. They're doing it. Now, what are we going to do? But they constantly
00:11:29.080 keep harping on, oh, well, they're wrong. It's like, oh, wow, have we considered going down
00:11:34.680 to Washington and telling Trump he's wrong? Wow, yeah, that's going to clear up things in five
00:11:39.080 seconds. Three at seven, you should know that. And thank you for not saying I'm 100 years old,
00:11:45.200 being the oldest person here. Look, I was implying it. I got that. I'm sure most of the audience did
00:11:50.680 as well. But look, Friday, before all this, we had Friday was the fires, right? Last Friday was
00:11:57.580 the fires it was there's been a steady uh stream of things when he hasn't moved off the fires and
00:12:04.300 by the way americans if you're watching dm me i got a basement full of hockey sticks i can get to
00:12:08.940 you before august 19th i mean it it all seems to be about distraction it's hard not to suggest that
00:12:18.180 it is that i agree with jordan i agree with amanda on that um it doesn't seem that they're
00:12:25.900 having the desired impact that they want to divide and conquer yet you're in pei you're talking to
00:12:32.360 these premiers well there might be you know some frustration from doug ford that he feels he's
00:12:36.880 doing more than other premiers this isn't the beginning of all of this which you will well
00:12:41.620 recall when daniel smith was on one side and doug ford was on another then what does she mean what
00:12:48.180 what does tim powers mean that when they used to be on separate sides no daniel smith was never on
00:12:53.980 like a pro-Trump side, and then Doug Ford was on the pro-Canada side. Danielle Smith has always
00:12:59.220 been pro-Canada, and she did something really smart when she headed down to Mar-a-Lago before
00:13:03.560 Trump was inaugurated in January 2025. Danielle Smith was being proactive, trying to defend her
00:13:11.080 province from incoming tariffs. And the whole idea that, well, what Trump's doing here is it's
00:13:17.640 a distraction. He's trying to divide us and all this stuff. Never actually getting to a point
00:13:23.500 here of like okay what is the net effect what are you talking about this is liberal slop tv
00:13:31.460 programming basically trying to keep people in like the minority port report like like swimming
00:13:39.580 pool with the helmet on just like saying like yes trump's bad he's trying to divide us united we're
00:13:44.620 strong. We need to link arms and fight for Canada. It's like, guys, okay, sure. Now what?
00:13:54.320 Now what? Now what? Now what are we going to do? I've been watching so many clips from the CBC
00:14:02.020 over the last couple of days. At no point did they actually say, yes, Mark Carney should be
00:14:06.100 doing this. Because if they say what Mark Carney should be doing, it would reveal the fact that
00:14:09.480 he's been sucking at his job and he hasn't been doing anything. He, in fact, is not defending
00:14:14.640 the country. As conservatives have been pointing out, they have no leverage. We have no leverage
00:14:19.800 on the Americans because our domestic economic policy sucks. All the trade diversification has
00:14:24.440 basically been doing a complete hill of beans at this point. Us cozying up with the Chinese doesn't 1.00
00:14:29.200 make us look good at the negotiating table and is probably going to be undermining further 0.94
00:14:33.200 our economic and national security when it comes to the threats of the CCP. And we've been making
00:14:39.000 concessions all the long, all along to the Americans at the same time. So we're not even
00:14:43.700 consistent in trying to be like tough elbows up type, you know, political actors. We are just
00:14:49.060 all over the place. And so we just keep talking about Trump. What about him? Okay, he did the
00:14:55.620 thing. Now, what are we going to do? What thing are we doing in response to his thing?
00:14:59.380 The facts seem tighter on all of this. I'm listening to Premier Lance today. I noted again,
00:15:06.960 You know, he was asked a question about potatoes and would they be impacted?
00:15:10.140 And he said, we've had maybe 1% of the impact of the tariffs has been on us.
00:15:14.200 Others have suffered more.
00:15:15.840 That unity of purpose, if it's doing anything, it's making Mark Carney stronger at home.
00:15:21.620 And there's a lot of public data to suggest that.
00:15:24.780 Nobody is saying capitulate.
00:15:26.820 Nobody is saying, no, run away from all of this.
00:15:31.100 Yes, there's frustration that there's not a deal.
00:15:33.300 but there's more people saying look at the abacus poll from yesterday's over 60 no no don't do a
00:15:39.920 deal don't concede and as long as the prime minister has that he can politically wait the
00:15:46.540 question is what the economic damage is going to be over time particularly if you're in the autos
00:15:51.040 or the steel sector um do you realize what they're doing here as they're all nodding along to just
00:15:57.520 this troglodytic like political analysis well you know that this could be actually good for
00:16:04.620 mark carney because people are going to like rally around him and did you look at the new
00:16:08.760 abacus data poll where people are saying they don't want a deal made it's like oh my good sorry
00:16:15.140 but why are we citing polls saying that basically a bunch of economic luddites want us to not trade
00:16:22.560 with the U.S. and in fact all the elbows up crowd are suddenly like the guys who voted for Carney to
00:16:27.920 make a deal are like no no don't make a deal it's like oh my goodness people sorry like we're not
00:16:33.300 even talking about anything here we're basically just saying guys the the second quarter third
00:16:39.300 quarter liberal projections are in and we're still on top it's like this isn't any analysis at all
00:16:44.940 we're making we're making excuses for for Mark Carney by just saying well you know this is just
00:16:50.560 Trump making a distraction and trying to divide us with the implication that the response that
00:16:55.740 Canadians should have to this is just being more blindly unified pro-Canada. Not that I want people
00:17:00.460 to be pro-America, but if you're an actual patriot, you should look at what Carney and the Liberals
00:17:05.080 are doing, adding in the fact that they failed on the Gordie Howe Bridge, and say, hey, this team 1.00
00:17:10.960 sucks. We should have a better team that represents us. But no, no, no, guys. Tim Powers is also here 0.95
00:17:16.460 to say, but did you know that Mark Carney's still quite popular? In that same Abacus data poll,
00:17:21.520 they were falling in the polls. They went from being plus 12 in May to being plus 6 now.
00:17:26.840 That is what we call statistically significant. That is very statistically significant. And that
00:17:32.500 poll was conducted before the Gordie Howe Bridge thing came in. Citing sub-national polls in terms
00:17:41.400 of it's not the national numbers we're saying well his popularity is still high okay and does that
00:17:47.160 does that affect the fact that he's failing on trade does that affect the fact that he is not
00:17:52.240 performing as well as the Mexican president or any other world leader on getting a deal
00:17:55.940 now I want to jump over to Lisa Raitt on David Cochran's show as well I thought she had a good
00:18:02.340 summation of the situation here just cutting through and actually talking about hey well
00:18:08.960 what should Carney be doing here? Is, you know, any of this his fault? Should we actually be
00:18:14.220 looking inward as so often the liberals suggest to the conservatives? Okay, so Lisa, that's Premier
00:18:20.520 Frechette there. Daniel Smith earlier said, we don't want our energy use as leverage. Scott Moe,
00:18:25.240 we've got an interview coming up with him. He says the same thing about energy and potash.
00:18:29.760 So if the key leverage points that have been identified aren't available to the Prime Minister
00:18:34.440 without enormous domestic blowback.
00:18:36.880 How do you do it?
00:18:38.420 So you see what David Cochran did there.
00:18:40.320 Basically, he's saying, well,
00:18:41.480 the only way we can get out of the situation
00:18:44.940 is using our areas of economic leverage to fight back.
00:18:47.820 Say, we're not going to send you our oil and gas products
00:18:50.660 or our potash or other things
00:18:52.480 to get the Americans to make a deal with us. 1.00
00:18:55.420 It's this stupid, singular factor analysis 1.00
00:18:59.340 saying this is the only way to do it. 1.00
00:19:00.980 And guess what?
00:19:01.740 Carney can't do it
00:19:02.700 his hands are tied by domestic risks of domestic blowback. No, those are not his only options and
00:19:08.940 Lisa Wright does a good job of tearing into that. You go back to the table like they were prior to
00:19:14.940 October of last year and exchanging proposals on what we want to accomplish in a comprehensive
00:19:21.420 trade deal. It's not a case where we're threatening one another consistently. First principles David,
00:19:27.740 the United States has made it clear to the world that they are renegotiating every trade deal that
00:19:31.900 they're part of and that part of their toolkit is to have a tariff the question is how much of a
00:19:36.620 tariff does canada want to pay we're not going to be able to get what we had expected in terms of
00:19:41.500 customer to have free trade on absolutely everything what's the number going to be that
00:19:45.980 is the negotiation that we should be having at this point in time and i think that's the negotiation
00:19:51.500 that janice charette and that dominic are seized with quite frankly let's not let these 29 days
00:19:57.820 go to waste because we're trying to figure out whether or not our premiers are going to have a
00:20:02.220 fun fight at the end i don't like this line of discussion whatsoever let's focus and those small
00:20:08.860 and medium companies they're not going to hang around waiting to figure out whether or not we
00:20:13.420 can hold you see nathan cullen here uh the bald man who looks like it looks like a melon baller
00:20:18.620 there rolling his eyes at what lisa wright saying she's absolutely right trying to make this about
00:20:24.380 Well, is Danielle Smith going to screw her economy for the benefit of Mark Carney?
00:20:29.200 That's not a real discussion.
00:20:31.240 How are we going to get a trade deal?
00:20:33.220 Because Lisa Wright's actually bringing us back to the real topic at hand.
00:20:37.200 What's Carney going to do on the main thing that we're supposedly caring about? 0.98
00:20:41.280 In fact, it's now becoming this retarded patriotism question. 0.90
00:20:45.400 Is Alberta going to blow itself up to benefit Mark Carney? 0.71
00:20:49.680 Are you going to throw yourself on the barbed wire so that Mark Carney can walk over you in doing nothing?
00:20:58.180 We wouldn't even get anything if we did that.
00:21:00.120 But it's going to be like, are you going to are you going to eat your own thumbs to prove that you're fealty towards the Liberal Party and Mark Carney?
00:21:06.460 And then Nathan Collins rolls his eyes at the idea that maybe we shouldn't bankrupt small and medium-sized business owners just so that Mark Carney doesn't have to bruise his ego in actually signing a deal with Donald Trump.
00:21:21.180 And it's not like we're asking Mark Carney to humiliate himself.
00:21:24.740 It's just his own ego that feels humiliated in having to sign a deal with Trump.
00:21:29.420 Claudia Scheinbaum does not seem like she lacks luster in trying to sign a deal with Trump.
00:21:33.840 If anything, she sounds very formidable as a human being.
00:21:38.040 She doesn't seem like she's going hat in hand.
00:21:40.200 She's going powerfully to negotiate a trade deal.
00:21:42.900 Mark Carney's only going to go hat in hand because he thinks he's too sophisticated to have to talk to Donald Trump.
00:21:48.680 So apparently, we're going to set your small business on fire so that he doesn't have to do that.
00:21:54.500 Anyways, that should be it for this video, guys.
00:21:57.560 They're all turning into rants these days, but that's just how it goes down in the street sometimes.
00:22:02.580 Anyways, with all that being said, if you like the channel, make sure to leave a like on the video.
