The Toronto Star cartoonist Theo Medakis has a new take on Canada's decline, and it's not a good one. In fact, it's one of the most reactionary take-aways from a Canadian political cartoon I've seen in a while.
00:00:00.000I find that sometimes things like art and comics give you far better insight into the way the Canadian political left thinks than even their own words do.
00:00:08.340And that's why today I want to talk about a comic from cartoonist Theo Medakis who works for the Toronto Star.
00:00:15.320I assume that you've seen his style before. It's posted all over social media whenever he releases a new one.
00:00:20.500He does put out anti-liberal stuff, but it's always from the idea that the liberals aren't far left enough and he thinks the conservatives are thieves and people who are misinformation machines and whatnot.
00:00:29.400That's very, very left-wing, probably a socialist. I don't know.
00:00:32.980But he put out this cartoon, which he thought was a big victory because so many conservatives talk about it and supposedly triggered.
00:00:38.420I think he's mixing up people being triggered and just mocking him because his cartoon has such a reactionary view about politics that I think it demonstrates the way that many liberal and NDP politicians actually think about politics.
00:00:52.960As long as they're just opposing conservatives, they're doing a good job.
00:00:57.360You know, things can be really bad in Canada and as long as they're not as bad as maybe a conservative politician says, it's actually going fantastic.
00:01:05.420That is the sort of like pro-losing message I find that many Canadian left-wing politicians have.
00:01:12.720That as long as the decline that they are imposing onto Canada is at least not as steep as conservatives might be saying in the messaging that they put out, well, actually that's a victory and we're going to dunk on the conservatives because actually things are ever so slightly better than how Polyev portrays it in his speeches.
00:01:30.780I think it probably is as bad as Polyev portrays it.
00:01:34.120And this cartoon is pure cope right here.
00:01:37.460So with a personified version of Canada, Theoma Dacus in this cartoon has Canada saying, sure, it's been a rough year, but let's remember one thing as we head into 2024.
00:02:39.100Is this what you dedicate your time to saying that, hey, guys, I know it's supposed to be a hopeful message.
00:02:44.600How is it hopeful saying things are bad, but they could be worse?
00:02:48.000That's not hopeful because things can always be worse.
00:02:50.520You can always say things could be worse.
00:02:52.520Yeah, sure, but this really demonstrates, I find, the reactionary way that the liberals and the NDP type of supporters and activists see Canada's condition.
00:03:02.940Things are bad, but in order to oppose, to own the conservatives, we'll just take pride in the fact that it's not worse.
00:03:12.160This is the exact type of message you'd put out if you want Canadians to react to you very negatively.
00:03:17.220Theo Madakis might be triggering conservatives, but you're also going to trigger a lot of moderate Canadians who don't usually care about politics, seeing you as being an avatar for how checked out and out to lunch the liberals are when it comes to the condition of the country.
00:03:32.900Just because maybe whatever polio says about the country is maybe 10% too hyperbolic about how bad Canada is right now is not an own if you just point that out.
00:03:44.160What would be an own is if the liberals actually tried to make the country better off, try to reduce inflation, try to make it so that people's small businesses wouldn't fail without government grants and subsidies because of just how subsidy-heavy our economy has become, how subsidy-reliant we've become.
00:04:07.280The fact that you're okay with the current condition of the country shows me that you're actually just kind of a dweeb who thinks that, well, as long as I can find an angle where the conservatives are in the wrong, I'm happy with how things are going.
00:04:20.200If I can disagree with conservative messaging, well, then I'm okay with the current status quo.
00:04:25.740Now, most Canadians aren't, and they shouldn't be.
00:04:27.980Anyways, if you want to donate to my legal fund, I have it linked in the description of this video below.
00:04:32.760Being sued by a billionaire, currently winning the case.
00:04:34.820It's just a stupid slap suit in Alberta.
00:04:36.920He filed it in Alberta against me specifically because he knows that if he filed in Ontario, it would get immediately anti-slapped and it would be thrown out of court.
00:05:17.520We need more real conservatives in caucus because there's a lot of red Tories trying to sneak into the party,
00:05:22.680which I believe will only hold back a poly of government from getting the things it needs to get done done.
00:05:28.300But other than that, I hope everyone has a great day and, you know, great next year, I guess it is.
00:05:33.500I don't really care about the New Year's.
00:05:34.760It's one of those things where I never do anything on New Year's, but now I'm just talking about random stuff and delaying the end of the video.
00:05:40.480So, I'm just going to end it right here.
