00:00:50.940 I often hear people say that the church has not become more political, but politics have become
00:00:56.680 more theological. And I think that's true. But what I'd like to clarify is that the church has 0.97
00:01:02.080 always been political. In fact, the gospel is about a king and a kingdom. It's literally the
00:01:08.480 good news of the king of kings and the kingdom of kingdoms. Revelation declares that at the
00:01:14.680 resurrection, Christ was elevated to the right hand of God. And in chapter 11, verse 15, it says,
00:01:19.740 The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign
00:01:26.860 forever and ever. End quote. This isn't speaking of some time in the distant future, but a kingdom
00:01:32.300 that has already been inaugurated through Christ's death and resurrection and ascension when he took
00:01:38.860 his throne and began reigning over the nations. Now, prior to the resurrection, the kingdoms of
00:01:44.660 the world were under the dominion of Satan. And that is why in the wilderness temptation,
00:01:50.440 Satan offers Jesus the subordination of all the kingdoms of the earth if he would only bow down
00:01:57.140 to him. Now, Jesus refused this political offer because although Satan has exercised this
00:02:01.800 influence over the fallen kingdoms of this world as its prince, the nations were never his by right.
00:02:08.320 They belonged to God. And through Adam's fall, we know that mankind came under the judgment
00:02:13.200 and the condemnation and the rule of sin and Satan, and it corrupted the dominion of God
00:02:18.320 that had originally been entrusted to man. Now, Christ, the second Adam, and the rightful heir to
00:02:23.640 all of the nations would not receive his inheritance through compromise or by bowing
00:02:29.460 down before a thief. Now, he would take them back legally as a man by the perfect obedience to the
00:02:36.220 law, by bearing the curse on the cross, by disarming the rulers and authorities, and by
00:02:40.840 being raised in his victory. Now it's why after the resurrection, Jesus says,
00:02:46.900 all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. See what he's doing is he's declaring
00:02:51.860 that he is now the King of Kings. The nations that were once under the power of sin and Satan
00:02:58.400 are now under the power of Christ. And this is why Christians were persecuted and killed in the 1.00
00:03:05.480 first century. They proclaimed a new king and a new Lord and a new kingdom. Caesar was no longer
00:03:10.940 the highest authority and his throne, just like every other earthly throne at this point, was
00:03:16.040 subordinate to the throne of Jesus Christ. Now the gospel was not merely good news about personal
00:03:23.100 salvation. It was the announcement that the old ruler, Satan, had been defeated by a new king
00:03:29.440 who had established his kingdom and that all the nations and all the rulers were now commanded
00:03:34.860 to submit to him. And the church was commissioned to declare this truth, not merely to individuals,
00:03:41.080 but to kings and to rulers and to judges and to lawmakers and to entire nations.
00:03:46.300 Now, the second part of the great commission in Matthew 28, you actually hear Jesus say
00:03:51.940 to the church to go baptize the nations and to teach them to obey all that Jesus commanded.
00:04:00.340 In other words, they were to declare the prophecy of Psalm 2 had been fulfilled.
00:04:05.700 It says, quote,
00:04:07.080 Now, therefore, O kings, be wise, be warned, O rulers of the earth, serve the Lord with
00:04:12.780 fear and rejoice with trembling.
00:04:15.420 Kiss the son, lest he be angry and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled.
00:04:22.120 Blessed are all those who take refuge in him, end quote.
00:04:25.940 I want you to notice the kings are not invited to remain neutral. They are commanded to submit.
00:04:34.300 And throughout Christian history, we see this. Rulers and nations ordered by societies according
00:04:39.180 to Christ. Kings professed allegiance to Christ. Laws upheld the righteousness of Christ. False
00:04:46.200 gods were rejected because of Christ. False religions were rejected because of Christ. 0.71
00:04:52.120 The church was society's gem to be protected. 0.94
00:04:56.320 The schools taught Christ.
00:04:58.460 The culture taught Christ.
00:05:00.180 The architecture testified of Christ.
00:05:03.320 The church was the conscience of the state, and the state was the protector of the church.
00:05:10.220 See, each of them possessed their own God-given spheres of authority, but neither was independent
00:05:16.240 of Christ.
00:05:17.640 And this is what modern Christians have largely forgotten.
00:05:20.240 Every political matter has a moral dimension and every moral question is ultimately a theological
00:05:27.320 or a religious question. So every law establishes a standard of right and wrong and every policy
00:05:34.300 reflects a moral judgment. Every war raises questions of justice and righteousness.
00:05:40.620 There is no such thing as a morally neutral government or morally neutral laws or morally
00:05:47.020 neutral politics. There's no such thing as a civilization free from religion. The question
00:05:53.180 is never whether a nation will be governed by religion, but which religion will govern it.
00:05:59.220 Now, we know that throughout history, these spheres of the church and the state have often
00:06:05.040 overstepped their God-given boundaries and descended into forms of tyranny. And at times,
00:06:10.580 the church acted like the state, exercising civil authority, punishing citizens, carrying out capital
00:06:16.960 sentences. And at other times, the state acted like the church, appointing bishops or controlling
00:06:23.140 ecclesiastical affairs or enforcing theological conformity. See, both of these are violations of
00:06:29.840 God's design for civilization. Now, these violations gave rise to the American principle 0.85
00:06:35.000 of separation of church and state. Now, but this separation was never intended to separate God
00:06:41.280 from government. Rather, it was intended to prevent the church from wielding the civil sword
00:06:47.080 and the state from dictating the doctrine of worship of the church. To this day,
00:06:53.000 our congressional gatherings begin with prayer to the God of the Bible. For many centuries,
00:06:58.420 the Ten Commandments and the Lord's Prayer were recited in our public schools and institutions.
00:07:03.740 Yet through liberal reinterpretation and revisionist history, the idea of a separation
00:07:09.780 of church and state has increasingly been understood to mean that Christianity should
00:07:14.280 have little or no influence over civil government or politics at all.
00:07:18.560 Now, unfortunately, the church has basically bought into that narrative and stepped back
00:07:23.460 from a Christianity that once ordered and influenced all of society, and now it's retreated
00:07:30.100 to an ecclesiocentric, a privatized, a politically disengaged existence.
00:07:36.240 Now, as I mentioned earlier, the question facing America is not whether it will be ruled by
00:07:40.960 religious politics. It will be. The question is which religious politics will dominate America.
00:07:46.800 Everyone understands this except for Christians. Jews, Hindus, Muslims are running for local
00:07:53.380 offices and they're capturing towns and cities and states. They strategically relocate families, 1.00
00:07:58.820 they cross oceans, they form voting blocks, all to advance their religious interests with
00:08:05.040 discipline and clarity. And they don't apologize for organizing around their people and their
00:08:09.500 religion and their future. They understand that power is not neutral. They understand
00:08:14.520 that the vacuum left by the Christian withdrawal will be filled by something else, by another 0.85
00:08:21.160 religion or another people. Now, I do believe that Americans have grown soft. We are kind of
00:08:26.260 like this old fighter who once had iron in our spine. And now we can't even throw a punch. Okay.
00:08:32.800 We wear the appearance of strength while our hands are actually shaking. Okay. We're apathetic.
00:08:38.960 We're suicidally comfortable. We're lulled by the ease while the entire house burns away.
00:08:46.460 Our nation is being politically stolen in plain sight. And we scroll and we shrug and we sleep.
00:08:52.980 And many of us calling ourselves Christians do this just without even opening our mouths.
00:08:59.000 We flinch at the word like racist, like it's some sort of death sentence.
00:09:03.520 So we stay silent while others take ground and steal our home.
00:09:08.180 And it's my opinion that we actually need trials.
00:09:11.020 We need resistance.
00:09:12.240 We need suffering.
00:09:13.080 We need something hard enough to wake us up from our slumber and from our death stare.
00:09:19.160 Now, the Bible is not a private devotional, okay? It is a book of nations and borders and laws and
00:09:28.180 policies. And from, you know, we have the table of nations in Genesis chapter nine to the conquest
00:09:33.120 of Canaan, from the statutes given to Israel for the commands issued to kings throughout the Psalms,
00:09:40.480 you know, scripture assumes that peoples are distinct, that land has boundaries, that rulers
00:09:46.360 make laws and that those laws will either honor God or defy him. There is no chapter in which the
00:09:52.920 nations disappear into this kind of borderless, multicultural, globalist mass. And there's like
00:09:59.720 no verses that are treating civil order as non-moral. Christians once understood all of 0.94
00:10:06.320 this, right? They built civilizations on it. We look back on historic America or European
00:10:13.080 Christendom, and we want the cathedrals, we want the ordered households, we want the public justice,
00:10:19.540 the national peace, the cultural confidence, but we are unwilling to believe what they believed
00:10:25.680 or to do what they did to create those civilizations. We have lost our appetite
00:10:30.920 for civilization, for politics, for power, for will in the Christian church. So in this season
00:10:39.740 of American glory, I intend to recover that appetite by looking squarely at American politics.
00:10:47.300 And I want to offer a biblical defense for Christian political engagement. I also want to
00:10:51.880 expose the folly of democracy as a system that basically flatters the mob and dilutes responsibility
00:10:58.340 among the citizens. I want to address the reality of Jewish subversion through Zionism and 0.99
00:11:04.360 dispensationalism and the networks of people that are advancing. I want to talk about nationalism 0.87
00:11:09.640 and why it's the only coherent path forward for any people that wishes to remain intact. 0.90
00:11:15.980 I want to talk about the moral case for a monarch or at least maybe a Christian dictator
00:11:20.240 when the alternatives essentially have fallen short. I also want to talk about repealing the 1.00
00:11:25.540 19th amendment. And I also want to mention how we must break the arm of the GOP rather than remain
00:11:33.780 it's captive. So join me on NXR or my personal YouTube channel or podcast for this season
00:11:41.060 of American Glory on American Politics.
00:12:03.780 pronged approach to winning America for Christ. On the ground, we have our local church where I
00:12:10.200 preach the Bible and administer word and sacrament. Here at NXR Studios, we focus on politics and
00:12:17.240 culture. But we have a third organization that I am the president of, Right Response Ministries,
00:12:23.580 that sits between the church and NXR Studios. Right Response Ministries puts out weekly written
00:12:30.320 and audio content focused on theology,
00:12:34.160 discipleship, and the church at large.
00:12:36.860 If you'd like to support what we do over there,
00:12:39.720 Right Response Ministries is a 501c3 charitable organization
00:12:44.200 and your donation of any amount is tax deductible.
00:12:48.700 If you'd like to donate,
00:12:49.940 you can simply go to rightresponseministries.com
00:12:53.700 forward slash donate.
00:12:55.460 Again, that's rightresponseministries.com forward slash donate.
00:13:01.180 Thank you very much.
