00:00:17.020 of Jesus Christ. Help us press forward the crown rights of King Jesus by leaving us a

00:00:23.440 five-star review on your favorite podcast platform. Thanks.

00:00:30.000 Jesus said, man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the

00:00:36.520 mouth of God.

00:00:37.640 You're listening to Daily Truth.

00:00:41.740 So the question is this, so does the current rebellion in our nation, in America, represent

00:00:47.980 the righteous judgment of God towards the wicked or the loving discipline of the Heavenly

00:00:54.060 Father towards the church?

00:00:56.520 And I believe that the answer is both.

00:01:00.000 that the two things can be simultaneously true. That's the beauty of the manifold wisdom of God,

00:01:06.700 his sovereignty in the ends that he brings about, but also the means by which he brings those ends

00:01:13.200 about, that God is meticulously sovereign over all things, and he is infinitely powerful and

00:01:18.880 infinitely wise. And as such, God can be doing two things at once, with one rod, with one act,

00:01:27.680 as it were god can be judging the wicked and disciplining the righteous i believe that right

00:01:36.280 now god is judging the wicked in our nation by handing us over further and further to higher

00:01:44.540 degrees of a further progression of sin from wrong belief to wrong worship that is idolatry

00:01:51.560 to perversion attached to that idolatry and to the societal approval of that perversion. 0.78

00:01:57.880 And to the wicked, that is those who are not in Christ, to the unbeliever, that is a sign of God's 0.84

00:02:03.940 judgment on the wicked. But for the church, it's a sign of his discipline. Well, why would we need

00:02:11.280 to be disciplined? Because it happened on our watch. We're not being eternally judged. We're

00:02:18.640 not going to hell but we are being disciplined we now have to live in such a society

00:02:25.060 we have to experience the harmful effects we now have to to be more careful and more guarded with

00:02:34.560 our children more vigilant more determined we now have have the the scope of shame directed

00:02:42.500 in targeting us for being Christians

00:02:45.900 and being followers of Christ.

00:02:48.620 We're enduring negative penalties

00:02:50.820 for society being handed over to their sin.

00:02:55.760 And that is God's judgment for the wicked,

00:02:58.440 but it's God's discipline for the righteous.

00:03:01.680 And what we should do by God's grace

00:03:04.560 as his children,

00:03:06.780 adopted by grace through faith in Christ alone,

00:03:09.180 is that we should respond rightly to that discipline.

00:03:13.660 Receive the rod of correction and say,

00:03:16.860 hey, we need to correct this.

00:03:20.900 We need to stand for righteousness.

00:03:23.180 We need to stand for the truth.

00:03:24.820 We need to repent.

00:03:27.880 God has called us out in our sin. 1.00

00:03:31.860 Perversion to the unbeliever, 0.97

00:03:33.640 but apathy, sinful tolerance, 0.83

00:03:37.560 misguided compassion warped empathy abdication of our role our responsibility for the christian

00:03:46.600 that's our sin that's our failure and the lord has drawn this out by handing us over

00:03:53.680 further and further to what we want

00:03:57.140 the question is will we respond rightly to the rod of the lord to the discipline of a heavenly

00:04:07.100 father who loves his church will we say father you're right we failed will we repent will repentance

00:04:16.320 begin with the house of god will we work by grace not knowing if we'll be successful in this

00:04:23.580 generation in our lifetime but but consistently and faithfully and diligently nonetheless will

00:04:29.320 we work to set the ship right to repent of the church's failure first and then also address

00:04:36.440 the failure in society? Will we say that God's law is good and that every society has laws

00:04:43.020 and that laws are always inherently moral? The question is not whether, but which. By what

00:04:49.380 standard? Or will we be apathetic? Will we be pietistic? Not piety, love for God and spiritual

00:04:58.440 practices and worship, but pietistic, meaning will we be uninvolved? Will we inwardly retreat?

00:05:06.440 will we just look at the writing on the wall and say this is the way it's got to be 0.72

00:05:11.480 or will we look and say hey you know what Assyria they were destroyed the Canaanite tribes they were

00:05:19.940 destroyed but you know what there's another little story in the bible what about Nineveh

00:05:25.240 sometimes a society is wicked but God raises up prophets even reluctant prophets that disobeyed

00:05:33.860 for a while. They were pietists for a while. They ran and hid for a while, but eventually 0.91

00:05:38.820 by God's grace respond. They go and preach the message that they were called to. And sometimes

00:05:45.180 the wicked nation listens. All right, hold up. You're not going to want to miss this. I'm going

00:05:50.400 to tell you exactly how our spring 2024 conference is going to go down. Here's the title of the

00:07:05.560 a Man. The topic is going to be all about biblical patriarchy. We're going to specifically be parsing

00:07:11.580 out, distinguishing the biblical doctrinal differences between patriarchy and complementarianism.

00:07:18.140 Again, that's Friday, March 1st, the first day of the conference, a live Theology Applied podcast

00:07:23.560 on biblical patriarchy. Then we're going to have the next day, that's Saturday, March 2nd,

00:07:39.560 We're going to be talking about what creatures currently are living underneath the surface of

00:07:43.880 the earth and chasms of the deep. It's going to be wacky. It's going to be weird, but it will also

00:07:48.600 be thoroughly biblical and incredibly unhinged. So you're not going to want to miss these two live 0.76

00:07:53.960 podcasts, Theology Applied, on Friday, March 1st, the first day of the conference on biblical

00:08:00.220 patriarchy with Doug Wilson, Michael Foster, Eric Kahn, and myself. And then the next day of the
