Summary

Summaries generated with gmurro/bart-large-finetuned-filtered-spotify-podcast-summ .

Part of the problem with modern, New Testament, 21st century Christianity is that we have so divorced the spiritual from the physical, the eternal from the temporal, that we are not even faithful to what the Scripture teaches any longer. Again, not heresy, but unbiblical nonetheless.

00:00:00.000 In less than a year, our podcast has gone from an average of 10,000 downloads a month
00:00:04.300 to 50,000 downloads. What made the difference? You leaving us a five-star review. The more
00:00:10.260 positive reviews, the more the algorithm picks us up, and more people are confronted by the law
00:00:16.360 and gospel of Jesus Christ. Help us press forward the crown rights of King Jesus by leaving us a
00:00:23.480 five-star review on your favorite podcast platform. Thanks.
00:00:30.000 Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

00:00:39.400 Part of the problem with modern, New Testament, 21st century Christianity 0.78
00:00:47.640 is that we have so divorced the spiritual from the physical, 0.89
00:00:53.600 the eternal from the temporal,
00:00:57.060 that we're not even faithful to what the Scripture teaches.
00:01:00.000 any longer. Again, not heresy, but unbiblical nonetheless. I would argue, I know that this
00:01:09.500 is controversial, but I think it matters. I'm not just trying to make a statement to
00:01:13.800 shock and all. I think it matters. Dispensationalism, I believe, will not kill you like poison in 15
00:01:24.020 minutes, but like jack-in-the-box three times a day, it will kill you over 30 years. And if it's
00:01:32.820 jack-in-the-box three times a day, let's be honest, maybe 10, 15. Not minutes, still years, but still
00:01:39.660 dead. And I believe that not only can it do this, I believe that we can prove from Western history,
00:01:49.200 recent history, that it has done this. That from Darby and Schofield over the past 150 years
00:01:58.240 in the West, that the church has lost its potency. That the church has in large part become,
00:02:08.260 in the truest sense, pietistic. Piety, that is private practices of holiness like prayer and
00:02:16.740 fasting and scripture reading and study and generosity and alms to the poor. Piety, true
00:02:23.340 piety is wonderful and biblical, commendable and commanded actually for all those who claim to
00:02:31.860 follow Christ. But pietism, unlike piety, is a cancer. It may not be heretical poison that 0.93
00:02:41.620 will destroy within 15 minutes, but it has been able to take down entire societies in
00:02:49.260 the West over 150 years.
00:02:53.140 It has done this.
00:02:57.440 The Puritans would be disappointed, to say the very least, in much of American evangelical
00:03:07.880 theology today.
00:03:11.620 And the reason why I'm attempting to draw the correlation
00:03:14.300 is because I want Christians to understand
00:03:18.300 that what we believe spiritually
00:03:21.300 absolutely impacts our lives tangibly.
00:03:28.040 And to say anything otherwise is pietistic.
00:03:34.820 It is to pretend as though we're living on this higher plane,
00:03:40.200 but that none of our beliefs and none of our practices
00:03:44.700 have any effect in the real world whatsoever.
00:03:49.020 It is to render the gospel of Jesus Christ impotent.
00:03:53.820 It is to take all the commands and the principles of Scripture
00:03:57.920 and make them weak and watered down.
