00:00:39.340 being as i just described non-christians no let me say it again no not in that literal one-to-one

00:00:49.400 sense let me explain what i mean by that the bible does not teach the universal fatherhood of god

00:00:56.420 He is only the father of those who've been united to him

00:01:23.600 so that it is not true if you are in Christ to say that all human beings are your brothers or

00:01:31.420 sisters. They are only your brothers or sisters if they believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ.

00:01:38.240 But that being said, the Bible does teach universal neighborhood. So who is my neighbor?

00:01:45.940 everyone everyone non-christians and christians alike and what does the bible tell us what does

00:01:54.800 christ our lord himself tell us in regards to how we should feel and treat our neighbor

00:02:01.820 love your neighbor as yourself so as it relates to our disposition our relationship with

00:02:09.980 unbelievers, what are we called to do? You can answer, love them. That's right. Okay, so I want

00:02:16.720 to be very clear about that. However, at the same time, here's the nuance, in a different sense,

00:02:22.480 all right, so this isn't breaking the laws of non-contradiction. In a different sense now,

00:02:28.540 Jesus also tells us very clearly that Christians are not to love the world, and that there is a

00:02:35.380 very real sense in which we, as followers of Christ, are called to hate the world. Jesus is

00:02:41.540 very clear. Do not love the world. Do not love the world. Do not love the world. But then he's also

00:02:48.080 clear, let me remind you of my earlier point, love your neighbor. Love your neighbor. So what's the

00:02:53.820 distinction here? We have to be careful, right? The job of a theologian is all day long, not

00:02:58.860 separations, right? You separate the three persons of the Trinity, and you're a heretic. But you

00:03:03.960 distinguish them and you're solid. All right. And so to distinguish the nuance here is we are called

00:03:09.940 to hate the world as the way the gospel of John and first John uses it over and over and over again,

00:03:15.420 not as it relates to individual unbelievers, but as it relates to this organized demonic system

00:03:22.400 under the domain and rule of Satan that stands in stark opposition and enmity against the things of

00:03:29.060 God and against the people of God. So there is a way of hating abortion without hating the woman

00:03:35.540 who is committed an abortion. There's a way of hating the LGBT agenda that wants to take your

00:03:43.140 children. I'll never forget this tweet I saw right after the election in 2016. There's a liberal

00:03:50.300 woman, very popular, thousands, tens of thousands of followers. And she said, if you're really angry

00:03:55.660 about what happened. What you should do is move to a red state like Texas and become a teacher.

00:04:06.500 If you really want to make a difference, that's what you should do. Move to a conservative state.

00:04:12.380 Don't go and picket the White House and say he's not my, but you really want to make a difference?

00:04:17.240 Go to a conservative state and become a teacher and indoctrinate while they're young. Do that.

00:04:27.040 I remember seeing that.

00:04:27.840 I was like, oh my goodness.

00:04:30.460 Olive wasn't even born yet.

00:04:32.340 And you know what I felt?

00:04:34.460 Hatred.

00:04:44.060 Because I'm a sinner.

00:04:48.380 That's oversimplifying.

00:04:49.660 That's throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

00:04:51.860 There is a righteous indignation towards the world, again, as the word world relates to the evil organized system under Satan's domain that enslaves people in darkness and stands in stark opposition and hatred towards God and his glory.

00:05:09.000 In that sense, if you don't hate the world in that sense, I don't know if you love God.

00:05:17.520 Because if we're honest, hatred is not a primary emotion.

00:05:21.160 it is the result of what it looks like to love when you love this and then that is trying to
