00:00:32.900 if you want to be saved from your sin,

00:00:36.380 if you want to be declared righteous

00:00:44.520 you must have saving faith.

00:00:47.080 Saving faith is Christian faith.

00:00:49.060 And Christian faith has the Christian object

00:00:51.720 who is no one less than Christ Himself.

00:00:54.880 And so the faith that saves,

00:00:56.700 the type of faith, the kind, the nature of faith,

00:00:59.420 is a Christian faith. And what makes Christian faith Christian faith is that it has the Christian

00:01:05.360 object. It has Christ as the object of faith. The one that we are trusting in is the person and work

00:01:13.040 of Jesus. Now, that said, the degree of faith, the measure of faith that a person has, how strongly

00:01:20.120 they believe it matters greatly in the sight of God. But what is necessary, or we could say what

00:01:26.840 is sufficient in order for someone to be justified is not the degree of their faith, but rather the

00:01:33.200 kind, the nature of faith, which is determined by having the proper object. If you have Christ as

00:01:39.260 the object of your faith, then you have the kind of faith, the nature of faith that is Christian

00:01:44.720 faith. And Christian faith is, in fact, a saving faith. Now, Abraham, in his case, we find this

00:01:51.040 language, and we saw it last week, it's robust language that speaks to the degree, it speaks to

00:01:56.420 the strength of Abraham's faith. The language is that he did not waver, that no unbelief was able

00:02:02.740 to make him waver. Or against all hope, Abraham hoped. He had hope in the midst of no hope. Or

00:02:10.620 that Abraham was fully convinced. Have you ever had moments in your life where you wish that you

00:02:15.880 were fully convinced because in that moment you're not? Right? You're struggling with doubt. You're

00:02:20.900 wrestling through something with the Lord. You're doubting His promises. You're doubting His

00:02:25.920 character. You're doubting his power, right? That he's true, or that he's willing, or that he's able,

00:02:31.700 right? You're not fully convinced. You're not fully convinced. Well, the beauty is that in those

00:02:36.680 moments, Jesus himself says that the faith of a mustard seed has the power to move mountains,

00:02:42.520 right? Now, Jesus, to be fair, he is constantly chastising ye of little faith, and he is regularly

00:02:50.700 marveling, condoning, commending those who have great faith. But if we're speaking to the

00:02:58.540 efficacy of faith, or whether or not faith works, whether or not the faith is sufficient,

00:03:05.160 we must recognize that in biblical terms, mustard seed faith is sufficient. Mustard seed faith,

00:03:12.500 it is effective. It does, in fact, work. It is saving. Thanks so much for listening. But real
