00:00:32.620 Every church is going to have disgruntled people

00:00:34.780 who get mad at the leaders,

00:00:36.620 and then the leaders are going to have to do something about it.

00:00:40.040 And if they can't win them over and get them to stop gossiping,

00:00:43.660 you know, and causing divisions, all those kinds of things,

00:00:46.740 then the leaders are going to somehow remove them.

00:00:50.620 So the question is, are they going to remove them biblically

00:00:56.920 or are they going to remove them the way that a casino

00:02:19.940 Now, again, you might say my attendance is enough for me

00:02:25.500 for the last four months, I'm not a member, but I attend somewhat frequently. I come, you know,

00:02:30.840 two or three times a month. Maybe you come four for four, which if that's the case, kudos, you're

00:02:35.160 beating the vast majority of our members. You know that, I mean, four for four is pretty good.

00:02:39.440 But even then, you're able to say, well, I'm coming, and by my mere attendance, without ever

00:02:44.120 becoming a formal church member, I am able to look to you, Joel, and say, you are my leader.

00:02:49.640 So I'm able to discern who my leaders are. I can look at you, and I can look at your website and

00:02:54.160 see who the other elders are. You guys are my leaders. So I'm able to obey my leaders without

00:02:58.200 becoming a formal church member, simply by attending. Well, if that's the counter, here's

00:03:02.560 the counter counter. No, you can't on two accounts, all right? Number one, the reason why that doesn't

00:03:08.500 work is because you're saying, well, I'm able to discern who my leaders are just by attending,

00:03:12.560 and therefore I'm able to obey them. Well, if you're attending this church, you don't want to

00:03:16.680 be a member, but you're attending this church, and you're saying, Joe, I have deemed that you

00:03:20.740 are my leader. And so I'm able to see you and obey you without becoming a member. I'm telling you

00:03:26.780 right now to become a member, so you're disobeying. See how that works? So it doesn't actually, it just

00:03:33.460 doesn't work out for you. You're not obeying your leader. So you're saying, I'm attending the church

00:03:36.820 and I'm saying, you're my leader. And I'm saying, okay, great. Obey me. I'm telling you to become a

00:03:41.600 member of the church by biblical standards. And you're saying, no, then you're not obeying your

00:03:46.880 leaders. Now, and you may say, all right, so here's another counter. Well, then I'll just find

00:03:50.440 basically what, I mean, you won't call it this because you're going to have to justify,

00:03:54.200 self-justify, but what it's actually going to be is I'm just going to have to find a more

00:03:58.080 compromised church. I'm going to have to find a church that's still good and still conservative

00:04:01.980 and still biblical, but a little less biblical, right? Where the leaders there won't command me

00:04:07.100 to become a member. That way I won't be found when I refuse to become a member disobedient.

00:04:11.940 So I can still go to that church now, detect them by my attendance that they are my leaders,

00:04:16.440 and I just got to find leaders who won't ever love me enough

00:04:19.080 to tell me to become a member in the church for my benefit, for my good.

00:04:22.600 That way, I'll never be found to be rebelling and disobeying those leaders.
