Many of you are unable to financially support this ministry because you're spending your
00:00:05.900
cash and your lives on raising young children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
00:00:19.000
And one major way that you can help to expand the reach and effectiveness of this ministry
00:00:24.160
that doesn't cost you a dime is by spending just a few moments leaving us a five-star
00:00:29.980
review. Also, perhaps even more effective than that, you can share our podcast with a friend.
00:00:36.560
We hope you'll take the time to do so. Thank you so much. God bless.

Jesus said, man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of
00:00:47.420
God. You're listening to Daily Truth. Gnosticism is the idea that the body is of little account,
00:00:56.240
that the physical world is trivial, that it doesn't have real value. The Gnostics in the
00:01:03.780
first century, that the apostles were combating, the Gnostics in their false heretical teaching,
00:01:09.800
what they were continuing to say again and again is that, you know, the body is just a prison.
00:01:15.500
It's this fleshly, carnal, unvaluable, trivial prison for the soul. And the soul is really a
00:01:24.400
value. Now, the word Gnostic comes from Gnosis. Gnosis means secret knowledge. So that's another
00:01:29.380
element of Gnosticism is this idea that there's this hidden, secret, elite, spiritual knowledge.
00:01:38.340
It's a mystery. It's a secret. It's something that you can't see. You can't ascertain. And so what
00:01:44.960
do you need? Well, you need to be inducted into the Cool Kids Club. The only way to find out this
00:01:52.900
really meaningful, true, the truest truth that's ever been trued in the whole true world, the only
00:01:57.920
way to figure that out is you have to have one of these elite guys tell you about it. Because it's
00:02:05.180
invisible. It's hidden. You'll never find it on your own. And so there's this elitist mentality,
00:02:10.760
this secret mentality. But the other element, the other aspect of Gnosticism, is that it's all
00:02:16.660
spiritual. It's not something that can be reasoned to. It's not something physical in the world.
00:02:22.260
it's not rational it's something that you would never be able to ascertain on your own and sadly
00:02:29.960
that that is a false doctrine that was combated by the apostles in the first century christian
00:02:34.760
church but sadly that is something that that the western church and the last few i would say
00:02:41.520
i don't know 150 maybe 300 years has really embraced in large part because of the enlightenment
00:02:47.600
and the embrace of gnosticism and now pietism real briefly pietism is this idea well to sum it
00:02:55.200
up in a phrase the old phrase uh that guy is so heavenly bound or heavenly focus that he's no
00:03:02.640
earthly good have you ever heard that phrase before he's so heavenly minded he's no earthly
00:03:07.700
good right that he's just thinking about floating on a cloud as a disembodied spirit with jesus for
00:03:14.380
eternity. But he's not really engaged in the physical world at all. He's not really caring
00:03:21.840
about practical matters, physical matters, earthly matters at all. Surely we should be heavenly
00:03:27.220
minded. But being heavenly minded in a true biblical sense immediately calls us right back
00:03:33.540
to earth. Just as Connor was saying, true saving faith, trusting the Lord Jesus, longing for
00:03:40.340
for eternal union with him there's there's fullness of joy in his presence there in his
00:03:46.720
right hand there are pleasures forevermore and the christian longs for these things but in longing
00:03:51.360
for christ and a longing for for a spiritual eternal reality with christ longing for heaven
00:03:58.240
for the christian immediately calls us back to earth because if we love christ jesus said if you
00:04:03.780
love me you will obey me and when we look to the commands of christ they all have physical tangible
00:04:10.180
earthly application. So Christ said, you love me and you long to be with me always. Great work and
00:04:16.140
feed your kids. Oh, okay. You love me and you long to be with me in heaven. Great. Love your wife as
00:04:24.520
I've loved the church. See the spiritual marriage, eternal marriage, Christ in the church. See how I
00:04:29.940
love her. I wash her. I gave myself up for her. Okay, you go do that in physical, tangible, earthly
00:04:36.780
ways here now with a woman in front of your face that you can see not just this ethereal universal
00:04:42.940
invisible sense but in a real sense don't be a pietist piety is a good thing piety is the the
00:04:53.640
puritans often spoke of piety is simply it's the spiritual disciplines it's study of scripture
00:05:00.120
it's fasting it's prayer it's longing to be further sanctified and and conformed into the
00:05:05.200
image of Christ. It's the desire for progressive holiness. Progressive, not positional. You are
00:05:11.620
positionally, perfectly righteous the moment you believe. Because positional, perfect righteousness
00:05:17.080
is the righteousness of Christ, which is received not progressively and gradually through obedience,
00:05:22.900
but rather immediately and fully through grace and faith alone. Okay? But the desire for
00:05:30.460
progressive righteousness, progressive holiness, sanctification. This is piety. Piety, good.
00:05:37.420
Pietism, bad. Piety, good. But being a pietist, in the sense that I'm using the word, is a bad
00:05:47.060
thing. It's the person who doesn't really care about the world. And the thing that's so wrong
0.99
00:06:02.820
God so loved the world that he sent his only son.
00:06:12.500
And we don't want to be pietist, just sitting, right?
0.82
00:06:26.740
Can I be frank with you for just a second, right here at the end?
00:06:30.280
Look, some of you guys, you're financially supporting this ministry, and from the bottom
00:06:39.300
However, some of you, you just, you can't afford it.
00:06:47.440
I mean, we're living in Joe Biden's ridiculous economy.
0.97
00:06:50.920
Our nation and our totalitarian political elites lost their minds over the last three years
0.91
00:06:59.060
due to COVID. We have written checks that we simply cannot cash. It doesn't matter if people
00:07:05.980
change the definition of a recession. We are living in a recession right now regardless.
00:07:12.820
Some of you are struggling to afford a carton of eggs at the grocery store. You cannot support
00:07:19.200
financially this ministry at this time, nor should you, but you could still help us tremendously.
00:07:26.080
I am asking you, please, if you're willing to do so, take one minute of your time. Leave us a
00:07:33.100
five-star review on your favorite podcast platform, iTunes, Spotify, whatever that might be.
00:07:39.840
This is the way the system works. We want to be innocent as doves, but shrewd as vipers.
00:07:48.000
You leave us a five-star review, and our podcast shows up for more people.
