00:02:32.800God is holy and each of us have fallen short of his glory.
00:02:37.200All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
00:02:39.360However, for the Christian, the one who has been born again and received perfect finished forgiveness on account of Christ Jesus, for the Christian, we are able to look at the law of God and not merely see condemnation, but rather knowing that through faith, not by works so that no man can boast, but by the gift of God, by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, we have received Christ's righteousness.
00:03:06.040we've been clothed in Christ's righteousness and therefore the law no longer condemns us
00:03:11.560there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus but the law as Connor just preached
00:03:17.200a moment ago it guides us so we no longer look to the law in its first use and stand condemned
00:03:25.080we do see the law as a mirror revealing our sin and our continual need for Christ and his
00:03:30.040forgiveness. But we don't see in the law of God a reflection of us standing as condemned sinners
00:03:37.360before a holy God. We know that we have been forgiven. We have been washed. We have been
00:03:42.820reconciled to God by the blood of Christ's cross. And so for the Christian, we look to the law of
00:03:49.840God as a reminder of how we've fallen short, but how Christ has bridged the gap. It's a reminder
00:03:56.740of the beauty and the majesty of the gospel. It's a reminder of God's forgiveness. It's a reminder
00:04:03.320of love, which covers a multitude of sins. And that's in its first use of the law of God. But
00:04:10.760in its third use, the law of God is also a lamp unto our feet. It's a light unto our path. It's
00:04:16.720a compass. It's a guide. It shows us the way in which we should walk. And therefore we can say,
00:04:22.240as David says, I delight in the law of God. So I don't like the language of, you know, there's good
00:04:29.300news and bad news. You know, part of the scripture is bad news, part of it's good news. No, for the
00:04:34.600Christian, it's all good news. The law of God is something that the Christian delights in. It shows
00:04:40.640us how to live in the world. It shows us how to walk through various trials, what decisions, what
00:04:47.720wisdom we should apply in various situations. The law of God is good, holy, and righteous. And so
00:04:55.440we rejoice in the law of God. So law gospel hermeneutic or imperative indicative hermeneutic,
00:05:03.560not just rooted relative to the hearer, the person, but actually rooted in the text itself.
00:05:09.620Yes, I would agree with that basic premise that there actually is a law gospel paradigm in the
00:05:16.720text. But that is not, that should not be truncated into saying there is therefore a bad news, good
00:05:23.540news hermeneutic in the text. Law gospel in the text, yes. But I would call that good news, good
00:05:30.740news hermeneutic in the text. They're both good. The law of God is good. It is only truly bad news
00:05:37.120for the person who does not have faith in Jesus. And that's one of the things that we're going to
00:05:41.640see in our text today. So the first point is I want us to focus on the gospel. I want us to see
00:05:47.060the voice of affirmation that we receive for those who are in Christ Jesus through faith. The blood
00:05:52.740of Christ that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. But later we'll see as I've already began
00:05:57.880to espouse we'll see that good news is in the ear of the hearer at least to an extent. At least to
00:06:05.300an extent the person who is in Christ is able to hear certain truths of the scripture as good news0.99
00:06:12.300as good news whereas the unbeliever who presently according to scripture stands underneath the just
00:06:20.020wrath of God stands underneath God's condemnation by their continual rejection of God's son Jesus0.98
00:06:26.360Christ and his finished work for the elect that person the unbeliever is going to hear certain
00:06:32.080things as bad news. They're going to be turned off by certain things, whereas the Christian0.97
00:06:37.000is able to look at those same truths and rejoice. The Christian is able to look at those same things0.93
00:06:42.540and rejoice. Can I be frank with you for just a second right here at the end? Look, some of you
00:06:48.640guys, you're financially supporting this ministry, and from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you.
00:06:54.200I cannot thank you enough. However, some of you, you just, you can't afford it. In fact, some of
00:07:01.680you shouldn't afford it. Let's be honest. I mean, we're living in Joe Biden's ridiculous economy.
00:07:08.520Our nation and our totalitarian political elites lost their minds over the last three years0.91
00:07:16.660due to COVID. We have written checks that we simply cannot cash. It doesn't matter if people
00:07:23.600change the definition of a recession. We are living in a recession right now, regardless.
00:07:30.420Some of you are struggling to afford a carton of eggs at the grocery store.
00:07:35.040You cannot support financially this ministry at this time, nor should you, but you could
