Summary

Summaries generated with gmurro/bart-large-finetuned-filtered-spotify-podcast-summ .

We are creatures that even if Adam had never broken the covenant of works, even if he sinned against god, he was still finite. He would not have died physically, living forever, but he would still be finite. And even when our fallenness is done away with, when this life ends, we breathe our last and we go to be with Christ, we will still have to learn as creatures.

00:00:00.000 All right, listen, guys, I get it.
00:00:01.900 Many of you are unable to financially support this ministry because you're spending your
00:00:05.900 cash and your lives on raising young children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
00:00:10.740 Praise God for you and that endeavor.
00:00:13.860 However, algorithms are a thing.
00:00:16.380 Shadow banning, sadly, is a thing.
00:00:19.000 And one major way that you can help to expand the reach and effectiveness of this ministry
00:00:24.160 that doesn't cost you a dime is by spending just a few moments leaving us a five-star review.
00:00:31.320 Also, perhaps even more effective than that, you can share our podcast with a friend.
00:00:36.560 We hope you'll take the time to do so.
00:00:38.480 Thank you so much.
00:00:39.760 God bless.
00:00:42.320 Jesus said, man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the
00:00:47.040 mouth of God.
00:00:47.980 You're listening to Daily Truth.
00:00:49.940 we are creatures that even if adam had never broken the covenant of works even if he had never
00:00:58.320 sinned against god he was still finite he would not have died physically he would have gone on
00:01:05.060 physically living forever but he would still be finite he would never be omniscient you and i
00:01:11.300 even in the life to come even with our glorified bodies that will never grow tired that will never
00:01:17.440 get sick, that we'll never die. And even when our fallenness is done away with, as 1 John says,
00:01:23.920 when this life ends, we breathe our last and we go to be with Christ. Paul says to be absent from
00:01:30.780 the body is to be present with the Lord. So on that day where we go to be present with the Lord,
00:01:36.000 because we have died physically in this life, 1 John says that when we see him, we will be like
00:01:41.900 him for we shall see him as he is that is to say that we will be sinless so the category of our
00:01:48.040 fallenness will be done away with and yet even in our glorified heavenly existence with God
00:01:54.380 being done away completely done away with sin even then we will no longer be fallen but still
00:02:01.200 finite and what I mean by that just one example is that we will never be omniscient that is all
00:02:09.120 knowing that even 10,000 years into heaven, we will not know everything. We will still have to
00:02:17.300 learn as creatures. Now, I believe that there will be a quick head start making up the gap in an
00:02:24.920 instant when we die and go to be with the Lord. I think that we will quickly come up to speed in
00:02:31.940 many regards. I think that merely just as a practical effect of our sanctification having
00:02:37.600 been complete at that time. In being fully sanctified in our heavenly existence, there are
00:02:44.340 certain knowledgeable aspects that will come with that. We will know certain things and believe and
00:02:49.820 trust certain things that we struggle to know or are lacking in our knowledge and lacking in our
00:02:55.880 faith here in this life today. So we'll quickly be caught up to speed, but even then, even then we
00:03:03.400 will not be omniscient. And I believe that someone who has been in heaven for 6,000 years, such as
00:03:09.680 Adam, will be more knowledgeable of God and the things of God than somebody who enters heaven
00:03:16.280 on day one. Again, this is not fallenness category. This is creaturely finitude category,
00:03:24.120 that we will never be omniscient and we will always be in a process as creatures of learning.
00:03:31.160 And this, I believe, is what God had in mind.
00:03:34.540 Both aspects.
00:03:35.960 This is what Matthew Henry is getting at
00:03:38.220 in his commentary on Joshua,
00:03:40.980 the Lord through Joshua,
00:03:42.340 commanding one man from each of the 12 tribes of Israel
00:03:45.900 to go and fetch a stone out of the midst of the Jordan
00:03:49.960 where the water had receded,
00:03:51.780 been held back and laid up in a heap.
00:03:54.520 They were to go into the bed of the river
00:03:56.940 to gather 12 stones and to erect a monument.
00:04:00.540 And what Matthew Henry is getting at
00:04:03.020 is he's saying that both in regards to man's fallenness
00:04:06.800 and in regards to his creaturely finitude,
00:04:10.520 that we need practical, visible reminders.
00:04:15.840 Man is quick and prone to forgetfulness.
00:04:20.920 And that has not changed. 0.99
00:04:22.520 Whether it be Israel according to the flesh
00:04:24.960 under the old covenant,
00:04:26.380 or whether it be true Israel,
00:04:28.440 you and I today,
00:04:29.400 for those of us who have faith in Jesus according to the promise.
00:04:33.420 Still, in both instances, there is a propensity towards forgetting.
00:04:39.460 Forgetting the nature and character of God,
00:04:41.980 forgetting the covenant and promises of God,
00:04:44.980 this still remains our tendency.
00:04:47.880 Because we are sinful, but also because we are finite,
00:04:53.420 both fallen and finite.
00:04:55.680 Because of these things, we are prone to forget,
00:04:58.820 and the Lord is merciful.
00:05:01.440 I love that Connor, in our liturgy,
00:05:04.640 we didn't plan this, but it's very fitting
00:05:06.880 in the providence of God that he referenced
00:05:09.340 the scripture in the Old Testament that says
00:05:12.000 that the Lord remembers our frame, that we are dust.
00:05:17.320 That is actually not a reference to God being mindful
00:05:21.180 that we are fallen and sinful beings,
00:05:24.720 but that's actually the Lord in his compassion and mercy
00:05:28.520 towards us being finite creaturely beings he remembers it doesn't say he remembers that we
00:05:35.680 are sinful or he remembers that we are rebels no he remembers our frame that we are dust that even
00:05:45.080 the most sanctified among us are still finite adam was made from the dust and to dust we will
00:05:53.000 return. And God, who is infinite, omnipotent, omniscient, he is also compassionate. He is
00:06:03.600 compassionate and merciful. He remembers our frame. That is, he takes account of the fact that we are
00:06:10.720 not only fallen, but that we are finite, that we are made of dust, that we are weak, and that we
00:06:16.340 are prone to forgetfulness and so therefore it is in God's mercy not him laying upon us a heavy
00:06:24.640 burden an extra commandment just for the fun of it but no rather in his kindness compassion and
00:06:32.000 mercy God commanded Israel that they should erect a memorial a monument to help them in their
00:06:39.760 fallenness and finitude not to forget his covenant faithfulness to past generations and so too it's
00:06:48.620 worth noting that God has done that for us true Israel under the new covenant today we have been
00:06:56.520 given memorials we have been given signs and seals visible memorials to remind us of God's covenant
00:07:06.140 who he is, what he has done on our behalf, and what he promises to all those who trust
00:07:12.580 in him. Namely, bread, wine, and water. Bread, wine, and water. Fight by flight,
00:07:23.940 why leaving godless places is loving godless places. I've had a lot of people tell me recently,
00:07:30.140 pastor joel you're post-millennial you claim to believe that jesus is king of every square inch
00:07:36.940 but apparently you don't think he's king of california because i've heard your personal
00:07:41.160 story that you used to be a pastor there and that you left for the state of texas notice the title
00:07:47.800 not fight or flight but fight by flight think of the prodigal son he comes to the end of his rope
00:07:55.940 he's longing to be fed with the pods given to the pigs and the parable says no one gave him
00:08:02.700 anything no member of the father's house tracked him down to give him a handout he was hurting 0.91
00:08:09.640 he had to lie in the bed that he had made for himself by his foolish choices you know what
00:08:16.600 the next words in that parable are no one gave him anything and he came to his senses he began to
00:08:23.940 repent. There are 10 million professing Christians currently living in the state of California.
00:08:30.460 What if they're fighting, but at the same time, while well-intentioned, they're also funding? 0.71
00:08:37.180 What if California could be brought to its knees simply by the faithful not fighting there,
00:08:43.300 but leaving there and forcing Gavin Newsom and other tyrants like him to actually have to
00:08:50.160 take a spoonful of their own medicine the book has been forwarded by douglas wilson it's been
00:08:57.240 endorsed by michael foster it's good to be a man also meg basham the daily wire and steve days
00:09:03.700 from the blaze network it's available on amazon as well as a cheaper copy that can be purchased
00:09:11.280 right from our website which is right response ministries.com check it out today can i be frank
00:09:17.800 with you for just a second right here at the end. Look, some of you guys, you're financially
00:09:22.320 supporting this ministry. And from the bottom of my heart, I say, thank you. I cannot thank you
00:09:28.200 enough. However, some of you, you just, you can't afford it. In fact, some of you, you shouldn't
00:09:35.100 afford it. Let's be honest. I mean, we're living in Joe Biden's ridiculous economy. Our nation
00:09:42.060 and our totalitarian political elites lost their minds over the last three years due to COVID.
00:09:50.800 We have written checks that we simply cannot cash. It doesn't matter if people change the
00:09:56.840 definition of a recession. We are living in a recession right now regardless. Some of you are
00:10:03.820 struggling to afford a carton of eggs at the grocery store. You cannot support financially
00:10:10.100 this ministry at this time, nor should you, but you could still help us tremendously. I am asking
00:10:17.300 you, please, if you're willing to do so, take one minute of your time. Leave us a five-star review
00:10:24.280 on your favorite podcast platform, iTunes, Spotify, whatever that might be. This is the way the system
00:10:31.320 works. We want to be innocent as doves, but shrewd as vipers. We need to be strategic. You leave us a
00:10:38.780 five-star review, and our podcast shows up for more people. And the Word of God and courageous
00:10:45.360 theology applied in practical ways to every realm of life gets out there.
00:10:51.940 Help us get it out there. Thanks for tuning in.
