In this episode, Pastor Ken teaches us that there is no such thing as a pure, unadulterated Bible. All Scripture, when we are reading it, seeking to understand it, and certainly to apply it to our lives and the lives of others in the local church, is to interpret Scripture. There are two options. One is to submit to the interpretations of Scripture by men, and the other is to choose or select or submit to Scripture itself.

00:00:30.000 Some of us, maybe we haven't verbalized this, maybe it's not something that is conscious in our minds,

00:00:35.220 but at least, at minimum, subconsciously, we act as though there is this dichotomy.

00:00:43.080 One of them is to submit to the interpretations of Scripture by men,

00:00:47.960 and then the other is to choose or select or submit to the pure, unadulterated Scripture in and of itself.

00:00:56.680 Now, if those are the two options, then certainly, ten times out of ten, I would choose the latter.

00:01:02.220 Certainly, I would want to choose the pure, unadulterated Word of God over the interpretations of man.

00:01:31.120 Scripture. The options that we have set before us is not merely to choose or submit or recognize

00:01:38.400 the interpretation of Scripture by men or to choose the unadulterated Scripture itself. Rather,

00:01:45.460 the option is to submit to the interpretations throughout the witness of 2,000 years of church

00:01:50.300 history as the church led by the Holy Spirit has been interpreting scripture for two millennia

00:01:55.660 or to submit to our own personal interpretation of scripture. See, when a pastor gets up and

00:02:02.280 preaches and says, I'm not going to use Calvin and I'm not going to use so-and-so and I'm not

00:02:06.840 going to use this or that or he or she, I'm going to give you the pure unadulterated Bible. Well,

00:02:13.340 unless he merely quotes the scripture and then prays and sits down, he did not give you the pure

00:02:19.460 unadulterated Bible. He gave you an interpretation of Scripture, but rather than giving you a faithful

00:02:25.180 interpretation of Scripture offered by several people, millions of people, in fact, over 2,000
