00:00:00.000 Hey guys, real quick, before we get started, I have a small request.
00:00:03.360 If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show,
00:00:06.440 would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five-star review?
00:00:09.760 This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do
00:00:12.880 to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible. Thanks.
00:00:19.700 Jesus said, man cannot live on bread alone,
00:00:22.440 but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
00:00:25.320 You're listening to Daily Truth.
00:00:27.260 the late great R.C. Sproul said this when he was speaking with unbelievers he would debate the 0.72
00:00:34.940 reliability of the bible he would talk about the proof of the resurrection he would talk about the
00:00:38.840 the nature of the triune god all these different things but eventually it would boil down to one
00:00:43.260 question what do you do with your guilt the way I see it there's only three options you convince
00:00:49.160 yourself that you have no guilt because you have no sin you do what many in our culture do today
00:00:54.340 especially in California, especially Hollywood, especially the media,
00:00:58.160 you reinterpret all of your past through a new narrative.
00:01:01.900 And it turns out you actually never did anything wrong.
00:01:05.600 It turns out all of your worst mistakes were actually just really reasonable 0.95
00:01:11.460 and justified reactions to the reality of living around a bunch of wretched people. 0.92
00:01:16.820 You're not bad. 0.97
00:01:18.320 It's just everybody else in your life is bad.
00:01:20.300 And you've actually never done anything wrong.
00:01:21.980 and innately, deep down inside,
00:01:23.240 you're actually a really good person.
00:01:24.780 And if God, you know,
00:01:25.900 he'll take intentions into account.
00:01:27.920 And although your actions might've looked wrong,
00:01:30.000 they're really reasonable given the circumstances,
00:01:32.260 given the lay of the land, 0.99
00:01:33.320 all the ridiculous people in your life. 0.99
00:01:35.640 You've always been a victim. 0.99
00:01:37.060 You've always been innocent
00:01:38.280 and everything you've done is justified.
00:01:40.640 That's one way to deal with your guilt.
00:01:44.040 But at the end of the day,
00:01:44.960 you know you're still guilty.
00:01:46.820 And even if you don't,
00:01:48.080 that's not the mercy,
00:01:49.000 but rather the judgment of God,
00:01:50.200 that he would allow you to so deceive yourself
00:01:52.560 that you would feel guilt-free
00:01:54.200 and then one day stand before him
00:01:56.080 and your guilt comes rushing back in.
00:01:58.560 Second thing you can do with your guilt
00:02:00.160 is you can sit underneath it
00:02:01.800 and be crushed by the weight of your guilt.
00:02:05.180 And for those of you who fit this category,
00:02:06.960 I feel for you.
00:02:08.040 This whole week, I have been praying for you.
00:02:11.020 Some of you, you're not trying to pretend
00:02:13.000 that you're innocent.
00:02:13.540 You know your guilt.
00:02:14.860 And for years, you felt condemnation.
00:02:17.600 For years, you felt depression.
00:02:20.200 and anxiety. You know, you don't measure up. You know, you made mistakes in parenting. You know,
00:02:25.240 you messed up your kid's life and all that you feel guilty for all these things. I have so much
00:02:32.960 by God's grace and by his spirit. I have pastoral concern and care for you. I have very little for
00:02:39.240 that first category. I have far less concern for those who are lying about God by saying they're
00:02:44.380 not guilty. God says you're guilty. You say you're not, you're making God out to be a liar. So I have
00:02:48.940 less concern for the blasphemer and the person who's calling God a liar. I have much concern
00:02:53.960 for those who acknowledge and have given assent. See, the problem is that you haven't yet implicitly
00:03:00.000 trusted Jesus to be the guilt bearer for you. The first option, you tell yourself you have no guilt.
00:03:06.320 The second option, you sit crushed underneath your guilt. The third option, you're saved by grace
00:03:11.920 through faith in Christ. Thanks so much for listening. But real quick, before you go,
00:03:17.300 do us a small favor, take a moment, and leave us a five-star review if you enjoyed the show.
00:03:22.840 This is undoubtedly the best way that you can help us get this biblically faithful content
00:03:28.080 to as many people as possible. Thanks so much.
