00:00:30.000 As they're traveling from Kirjath-Jerim to the city of Jerusalem,

00:01:19.460 is angry because in his heart he's probably thinking what you and I might be tempted to

00:01:24.040 think. He's thinking, why would God kill a man whose intentions seemingly were good? He was

00:01:29.900 trying to protect the Ark of the Covenant from falling into the dirt. Now, the answer for why

00:01:36.080 God would do that, of course, is this, that although Uzzah's intentions may have been good,

00:01:41.680 he was presumptuous and arrogant because what he presupposed is this. He presupposed that it would

00:01:48.780 be an improvement for the presence of God to touch the hand of a man than the dirt.

00:01:58.160 See, brothers and sisters, dirt has never defied the living God. Dirt has never risen up to rebel

00:02:05.460 against Yahweh. Dirt has not sinned against God and fallen short of his glory. Dirt, ever since

00:02:13.540 it was made has only done what it was commanded by God to do. There's no piece of God's earthly

00:02:20.780 creation, but humanity that has ever had the gall, the audacity, the unbridled arrogance to rebel

00:02:29.060 against its creator. Dirt would have been a massive improvement from the hand of Uzzah.

00:02:36.120 he was foolish and david realizes this he realizes it's not just the anger of god that burns against

00:02:44.640 uzah that he is terrified of you know what terrifies david ultimately what we see that

00:02:51.080 strikes terror in his heart and in the hearts of the people of israel it's not just the wrath of

00:02:57.160 god the wrath of god is the result of the holiness of god there is nothing more terrifying for sinful
