The Podcast of the Lotus Eaters - The Boomer Question

00:00:00.000 Hi folks, welcome to another one of Dan and I's political chats.

00:00:03.600 Today we're going to be talking about the Boomer-Zoomer divide, particularly on the right,

00:00:09.300 particularly as it pertains to Restore Britain.

00:00:11.580 Now, before we begin, I want to make it very clear, this is not going to be an anti-Boomer tirade. 0.58

00:00:16.960 The purpose of this is to analyse the world into which the Boomers were born and grew up

00:00:21.980 and how it is different to today. 0.98

00:00:24.480 And this explains, I think, why the Boomers are struggling to understand the Zoomers.

00:00:29.340 and i don't just mean in practical immediate economic terms i mean metaphysically i mean 0.97

00:00:36.140 ontologically i mean in the the expectations of what life is what can be gotten out of it

00:00:41.320 and why the zoomers do not share this with essentially the assumptions which they base 0.94

00:00:46.160 their politics and worldview on yes were rational for the time because it was coming off a legacy

00:00:52.100 of um a different cultural inheritance that no longer applies it is simply a different reality 0.57

00:00:59.860 that young people are faced with and of course there are going to be base boomers um who understand

00:01:05.380 this but generally the the generation can be characterized this way and we see this behavioral

00:01:10.500 pattern all the time especially in voting yes and so what we are not saying is that boomers are bad

00:01:15.560 people unworthy or anything of the sort they haven't done anything wrong and it's understandable

00:01:20.580 that they would have the attitudes and mores of their time but these things are not eternal

00:01:26.440 they are not something that is written into the stars in the fabric of the universe and what made 0.98

00:01:32.020 sense in the 1960s is suicidal in 2026 which is why the zoomers are looking at them as if they're 0.96

00:01:40.300 mad quite like there's no way we can be like you because the world we live in is just too different 0.98

00:01:46.320 so before we get into it if you like what we're doing here support us by going over to

00:01:50.440 lotuses.com subscribe for five pound a month and we will be doing a round table discussing 0.82

00:01:55.040 lindsey clancy because of course if we there's not enough sacred cows for us to slaughter

00:01:59.020 apparently we're boomers now women so we'll be we'll be discussing that on the website classics

00:02:03.580 yeah tomorrow well probably today when you're watching this uh so go over and support us five

00:02:07.800 pound a month now so the boomer generation is between 1946 and 1964 traditionally

00:02:15.720 and as you can see 1946 is when we held our victory celebrations over the defeat of nazi

00:02:25.280 germany so the boomers are now excuse me

00:02:28.500 between 65 and 80 yeah so essentially by definition you you you you weren't around in the war if you

00:02:38.700 were boomer yeah absolutely so if you're silent generation you were probably a kid maybe you got

00:02:44.700 shipped off to the countryside if you're greatest generation you were on the front line you actually

00:02:48.900 fought in it yeah um so the boomers are yeah between like uh 65 and sort of early 80s mid

00:02:55.560 80s and they grew up in the shadow of one of the most cataclysmic events that ever happened to this

00:03:03.140 country and we happen to be at least putatively on the winning side of that war so for them

00:03:10.680 they avoided the terror and were indoctrinated into an appreciation of what the generation

00:03:20.460 their parents and grandparents had done uh to make sure that they could live in the post-world

00:03:25.160 war ii era you've got to you've got to remember coming off the war by the end of the war the

00:03:29.960 propaganda machine as a necessary function of the war would have been at its absolute zenith

00:03:36.120 um when it ended and that that doesn't just switch off it's not like a christmas tree you don't just

00:03:42.460 you don't just flip a switch and the propaganda goes away everything about it then continues and

00:03:47.860 feeds into the set of assumptions which follow you know nationalism bad liberalism good all of

00:03:53.460 that stuff and it permeates out into the people who set up the institutions which live under today

00:03:58.420 and i haven't included a section on this but another point that you've just raised there is

00:04:03.160 worth thinking about is the fact that as you say the propaganda organ of the state as in the bbc

00:04:11.880 is still to this day one of the most influential pieces of propaganda machinery that has ever

00:04:18.740 existed yes it is not normal for a government to have access to the ability to message the

00:04:25.940 entire population anytime they want right all throughout human history that was just not

00:04:31.040 possible and and and with a with a unified message i mean you know for bear in mind for most of their

00:04:36.120 lives they would have had two tv channels then then then it became three and four and eventually 0.97

00:04:40.060 I remember when Channel 5 came around, and that was a big deal because it was crap.

00:04:44.820 Yeah, a 20% increase in the number of TV channels you had. 0.76

00:04:48.020 It was a big deal.

00:04:50.060 But, you know, and also the mainstream media as well, the press.

00:04:53.960 You know, there was a single doctrinal worldview that could be put across.

00:04:58.780 So, I mean, to go back to your earlier point about we're not just bashing on boomers, 0.81

00:05:02.280 you know, Zoomers have to remember, if you grew up in the 1960s, 0.78

00:05:07.540 you would think like a boomer too. 0.99

00:05:09.220 Yes.

00:05:09.400 Because you didn't have the option.

00:05:11.100 First of all, I'm sure we get into the whole cultural capital thing

00:05:13.660 that they had as well, but also the propaganda.

00:05:16.060 If you took a modern-day right-wing Zoomer

00:05:18.560 and sent him back in time 50 years

00:05:21.240 and he started talking about the things that they talk about now...

00:05:23.580 They'd call him a Nazi.

00:05:24.600 Well, I don't even know if they'd know how to respond to him

00:05:27.340 because they would never have encountered the sort of ideas.

00:05:31.140 It simply wasn't discussed.

00:05:34.280 Also, they don't make sense in the context either.

00:05:36.480 No.

00:05:37.700 We'll come on to that.

00:05:38.580 It's only so much more recently when, well, people like you started popping up

00:05:42.680 that other opinions, apart from the BBC opinion, started to get expressed.

00:05:46.980 Well, yeah, I mean, what the internet has actually done

00:05:49.400 is returned public discourse to something similar to prior to, like, 1870.

00:05:58.400 Something like that, right?

00:05:59.340 The pamphlets.

00:06:00.220 So you have newspapers and pamphleteers.

00:06:02.760 So, yeah, literally, you know, going back to, like, the 17th century

00:06:05.680 with John Lilburn pamphleteering from Holland

00:06:07.860 because he's been banned by the king or whatever um you the the youtube video is a lot more similar

00:06:13.860 to that so actually you have an era of mass media that is not under one centralized control

00:06:19.720 yes uh that is unusual and like you say because of the war all the newspapers had to get on message

00:06:25.840 as well so even though the fact that we did have an active newspaper uh economy they had to for

00:06:33.440 reasons of patriotism stay on mass stay on message stay on brand and this meant that there was a

00:06:39.620 shocking moral unity yeah of the country after world war ii i mean and you can imagine just how

00:06:46.520 much the british in these celebrations felt like no we are a nation yeah and we have done this

00:06:54.140 together because it was a total war the entire country was involved everyone was doing their

00:06:59.360 part and it's a really admirable thing it's a really admirable thing and so it's not wrong with

00:07:03.800 the boomers to say oh no our parents generation earned their stripes like they earned the

00:07:08.540 admiration that we have for them right they absolutely did and so it's not a surprise that

00:07:13.700 so for example boomers love churchill right yeah absolutely love churchill 76 percent of boomers

00:07:20.080 have a favorable opinion of churchill compared with 55 percent of millennials and even fewer

00:07:26.900 gen z's well what's the reason well it's because it they're so close to these cataclysmic events

00:07:32.300 and their parents are like no no we all went through this we all went through this i mean i

00:07:36.120 remember my you know one of my favorite memories of being a kid was when i went to visit my nan

00:07:40.540 and granddad on my mom's side and me and my nan would both wake up at like six in the morning

00:07:44.980 before anyone else awake and so we would come downstairs she'd make me some breakfast and then

00:07:49.040 she would just tell me about stories from her childhood and when she was like six or seven

00:07:52.840 they had to go to the country to avoid the bombs and stuff like that right okay and she would tell

00:07:56.760 me all these stories i was like wow that's amazing and so that's you know third hand for me it must

00:08:02.580 have been you know she lived through it and got to know about the war from her parents so like you

00:08:08.180 can see why this is such a big deal for the boomers it's not wrong that it would be and as you say for 0.96

00:08:12.900 the zoomers if you would lived at this time it would be the same for you too yeah right this is 0.99

00:08:16.660 your lived reality and it is reality and you get like you know boomers writing like churchill songs 0.97

00:08:21.420 like thank you mr churchill from peter frampton and stuff like this is a completely normal 0.54

00:08:25.920 completely commonsensical and this is why nigel farage has this kind of just boomer affectation

00:08:34.160 he doesn't know how to think differently it it would seem unpatriotic for him to think differently 0.81

00:08:40.140 yep right that's how he feels right uh and of course the boomers love the monarchy everyone 0.75

00:08:45.860 else is a bit about them but 77 are like yeah no we think it's brilliant because what are they

00:08:51.020 picturing they're picturing queen elizabeth helping fix engines or whatever it was she did

00:08:54.840 during world war ii you know in fact i don't even know they don't have a picture in here but anyway

00:08:59.040 that's what she was doing right she was actually when she was princess i think she was at the time

00:09:02.740 but um yeah we're all in this together yeah exactly everyone did their part and and to be

00:09:08.280 honest with you what an envious place to be right you're you you're after the war but you can see

00:09:15.540 all of the evidence you know you've got all the pictures all the videos and everyone was like yeah

00:09:19.360 know this is exactly what we went through and so right we won the war and so the field is wide

00:09:24.540 open for us what a brilliant place to be in yes right i mean genuinely we will talk about how

00:09:29.520 basically a gilded generation um but from the position of international politics and national

00:09:37.460 morale couldn't have asked for better yeah couldn't ask so you come to something like 1960

00:09:44.120 and okay yes most of the boomers would have been children at that time um you know uh you know

00:09:50.300 about to go for their life so the decade of the 1960s but but what are they growing up in they're

00:09:55.820 growing up in a world which has um maxed out community because it had to be um institutions

00:10:04.120 the church um you know um a a country which is pulling together uh a sort of a mission

00:10:12.560 in that sort of environment

00:10:14.880 where the cultural

00:10:16.400 effectively right-wing

00:10:19.300 capital is so

00:10:21.140 high

00:10:21.720 being liberal is

00:10:25.020 costless in that environment

00:10:26.300 a little bit of liberalism doesn't cost you

00:10:29.220 anything and this is the old 4chan joke of

00:10:31.060 John Cleese being

00:10:32.600 laughing at the fuddy 1.00

00:10:35.080 duddies as they all laugh along with him 1.00

00:10:36.840 wondering where have all these fuddy duddies gone 1.00

00:10:39.040 and I think to John Cleese's credit I think he's 0.99

00:10:41.060 worked out oh i'm the fuddy-duddy oh right i have to be the guy who enforces the the social barriers

00:10:46.980 the cultural barriers the the the the walls of the civilization i'm that man now and so the the

00:10:52.700 boomers have to understand you're those men now too yeah um boomers also love the commonwealth

00:10:58.760 again overwhelmingly uh there's a good article on it uh by marrying harrington uh they love

00:11:05.060 the commonwealth because to them the empire was dissolving and rightfully so so the british

00:11:11.060 empire was a sacrifice on the altar of history for the defeat of the nazis right because remember

00:11:17.100 the british empire was a racial supremacist project it was completely anti-egalitarian

00:11:22.300 it was the english asserting themselves on the world yes i hate to say it in those sorts of

00:11:31.220 terms because that sounds like the kind of terms that a left winger would use but that is the

00:11:35.740 reality of what the british empire was it was ours and we imposed it on everyone else yeah yes we

00:11:41.260 thought it was a good thing well it was a good thing it was of course yes obvious it was a good

00:11:45.960 thing yes and i say that because i'm english yes you say that because you're english well and the

00:11:50.300 boomers whether they realize it or not say it because they're they're british and english as

00:11:53.500 well right yeah i mean i mean you've said this many times liberalism is essentially the universal

00:11:58.440 acid yes everything has to be dissolved all these bonds have to be sold the empire has to

00:12:03.540 and and and honestly did the empire i mean which way around does this go going back to the war

00:12:09.180 propaganda churchill essentially got us into a war because he couldn't afford to live um he couldn't

00:12:19.260 afford to pay for the lifestyle that he wanted he got in debt to the wrong people um you know

00:12:24.620 we get a lot of people angry at you for this kind of character yeah i know but you know we we got

00:12:28.900 into a war and we sold the empire um as the empire is being sold off if the state has got this

00:12:34.880 universalizing media apparatus what's it going to do is it going to say this is a bad thing or

00:12:39.800 actually no this is a good thing whatever the british state is doing at the time it is going

00:12:43.620 to push out as a good thing but it's also um it's also a part of the zeitgeist of the times right

00:12:49.680 so europe the old traditional ethnic empires that were all predicated on ethnic domination

00:12:57.460 had flayed itself during world war one and world war two and afterwards the the real power in the

00:13:07.740 world had moved to ideological empires the united states and the soviet union now these ideological

00:13:14.160 empires are literally built on a series of ideas they are propositional empires as the americans

00:13:20.320 still proudly say that they are the american left anyway we're a propositional nation and of course

00:13:25.020 the soviet rumors army sorry and vivek ramaswamy yeah exactly he said the american left yeah we

00:13:31.800 believe that actually human life is propositional well the communists in the soviet union believe

00:13:35.680 the same thing this is a propositional nation we're here to bring about the real communism

00:13:39.780 that will spark a proletarian revolution worldwide

00:13:41.820 and communism will win the competition of the Enlightenment.

00:13:45.780 And this is why Julius Savola was like,

00:13:46.880 oh, right, so Europe is in a pincer movement.

00:13:49.640 On the one side, you've got the Americans who are saying,

00:13:51.400 no, we're going to get freedom through capitalism

00:13:52.940 and liberation through capitalism.

00:13:55.500 And on the other side, you've got the communists saying,

00:13:57.220 no, we'll get liberation through communism, right?

00:13:59.200 Okay, but what happened to the traditional ethnic empires of Europe? 0.96

00:14:02.200 Well, they got dismembered, happily, gleefully dismembered 0.85

00:14:05.240 because ideologically the Americans and the Soviets 0.57

00:14:07.940 were both against this kind of immutable illiberal um world of you know ethnic domination right

00:14:18.980 that's what they were against yeah i mean the european model clearly doesn't work for them

00:14:21.760 they're going to become global empires because it's based on hereditary and you know lineage

00:14:26.620 and all of these exactly and so they the the the moment of empire passed right in the common mind

00:14:34.680 of people and this is why the boomers love the commonwealth because yeah they're they're the

00:14:39.220 inheritors of a collapsing empire disintegrating empire it's like the nice version of an empire 0.93

00:14:43.140 yeah and yeah don't get me wrong the yeah it is the british empire was by far the best on

00:14:49.060 its own terms but on anyone else's terms you know as it's the best empire that's ever existed we

00:14:55.160 went to places we conquered them and then we built them bridges and schools and we stopped

00:14:58.440 them from burning their widows yeah that's why their population's expanded show me any other

00:15:04.900 empire before or since that has a record like that we we can be phenomenally proud and yeah

00:15:09.960 and slavery is an incredible accomplishment um but these are all our prejudices because we're

00:15:14.720 english um anyway so the empire is dissolving and became the family of nations that is the

00:15:20.320 commonwealth now this this speaks well to the um emerging liberal paradigm in which uh we go

00:15:27.760 into a sort of more Westphalian national sovereignty mode of things,

00:15:31.640 which is highly supported by the Americans

00:15:33.600 and, of course, undermined by the Soviets. 0.80

00:15:35.820 They want to bring everything into the great orbit of the Soviet Empire, right? 1.00

00:15:38.720 So this is a new way that the boomers had 0.86

00:15:42.600 of understanding Britain's domination around the world. 0.56

00:15:45.740 Actually, we were presenting liberalism to these people

00:15:47.860 so they can have human rights and they can have material success,

00:15:51.360 and therefore, actually, the British Empire retroactively

00:15:54.820 wasn't really about Britain's power across the world.

00:15:57.260 it was really about an ideological mission spread liberalism everywhere which it never was i mean a

00:16:01.960 great example of this is the popular fiction of the time which would be um star trek both the

00:16:06.480 original star trek and star trek the next generation where basically you turn up somewhere

00:16:10.600 everybody looks funny you explain your liberal value system to them and they're like oh wow

00:16:16.160 that's really good yeah we're going to give up all the other nonsense we've been doing we're

00:16:19.700 going to stop trying to kill you and we're going to join this liberal project i mean why wouldn't 0.82

00:16:23.400 were you i mean and that that is exactly what the boomers thought about the commonwealth

00:16:26.780 they actually thought it really works like that yeah they they looked at the commonwealth like

00:16:32.100 the star trek federation yes and it's like look there are a lot of people in this that have deep

00:16:37.060 ethnic resentment against the british or having the hand over them for so many yes you know they

00:16:43.000 we aren't all just right okay we switch off from the past now and everything's a brand new slate

00:16:48.180 i mean it's one thing when the british empire put a certain class of people in charge and then when

00:16:54.100 we're doing all this liberalism their children yeah they still quite like us yeah but what comes

00:16:58.380 after that but what about the rest of them yes yes those people who didn't they they were 0.97

00:17:02.380 revolutionaries and hated us yes um anyway anyway right so the point being the boomers lived in a 0.60

00:17:08.020 very specific point in time yes very specific point in time where there were a series of

00:17:13.000 confluence of forces that happened to be quite fortuitous for those people in that generation

00:17:18.620 and so they looked around and they loved the britain they'd inherited yeah it has its problems

00:17:22.560 where it wasn't liberal enough and they would liberalize it but they inherited very high

00:17:27.440 cultural capital oh my god the the highest cultural capital remember all all through the

00:17:32.900 19th century britain accruing all these resources i mean tucker carlson had a great way of putting

00:17:37.660 it was like look the victorians took their responsibility of the the as the world empire

00:17:42.460 very seriously they made themselves very culturally conservative they had incredible personal

00:17:47.340 standards their education was part the best education humanity has ever had by producing

00:17:54.060 the quality of person right not necessarily the scientific advancements of course were not as high

00:17:59.640 but the character of the people could not have been high which is why when you read something

00:18:04.120 from 100 years ago now you realize you're reading something you personally couldn't emulate yes that

00:18:09.760 person is is better than you educationally morally and in the way that they're able to express

00:18:16.380 themselves well yeah i mean you you go back to the victorian era and pick up a local newspaper

00:18:21.940 that is discussing um you know expansions to the sewer works and the way that they write you look

00:18:28.380 at it and you think my god it's incredible and i just think why would we ever have let this go

00:18:32.620 but we did oh well egalitarianism is why um but i mean just quickly on your point of the victorians

00:18:38.440 yeah i mean it it wasn't costless in order to get that sort of society you try being a victorian

00:18:44.560 middle-class family and not going to church yeah but oh yeah that will be noted and and you will

00:18:49.940 you will be um that will be very much addressed everybody goes to church everybody does these

00:18:55.340 certain things there's certain codes of behavior that everybody does and you can understand why

00:19:00.800 when it gets to the gets to the boomer generation they're looking at this extraordinarily high

00:19:05.100 cultural capital but it's also very restrictive and and they ask the question okay well does it

00:19:11.000 really matter if i skip church you know every other week maybe not immediately yeah and maybe

00:19:17.360 maybe every other maybe every other week i go and wash my voxel cortina instead let's put a pin in

00:19:21.640 that because we'll come back to okay um so you are right and the cultural capital of britain at the

00:19:29.680 time it was just the best nation in the world at basically everything yes science it's technology

00:19:36.460 it's military expertise it's the educational system it's our governance right we are literally

00:19:42.640 because we were the greatest empire in human history we're the best at everything and the 0.64

00:19:45.680 boomers were handed this on the platter and so you can see where they say well do i have to uphold

00:19:49.200 the standards um what does it hurt well and especially as ideologically and paradigmatically

00:19:57.240 we're going into this new paradigm where we think we're at the end of history i mean francis

00:20:01.520 fukuyama is a boomer yeah he literally wrote you know the end of history in the last man

00:20:05.500 because that's where the ideas of boomers the boomer generation end up you are freeing yourself

00:20:11.800 from the inheritance and obligations of the past so we can all be unique individuals frolicking

00:20:18.080 with history is something that happened in the past when you're starting from up here

00:20:23.780 a little bit of liberalism around the edges fine you can afford it doesn't change much what the

00:20:30.460 problem is is that that trajectory just carries on yes the acid continues eating yes and okay yeah

00:20:37.980 it didn't didn't get very far when you were you know in your 30s but now how's it looking right 0.85

00:20:43.860 so the next thing to talk about is capitalism the boomers are an ideologically capitalist

00:20:49.400 generation because they're of course ideologically liberal yeah and that's fine when again you're

00:20:57.000 like free free markets are for the imperial hegemon right that's that that's the prime

00:21:02.060 beneficiary of free markets um we aren't the liberal hegemon anymore no no exactly i'm going

00:21:08.080 to do a brokonomics on this i'll record it um in the next couple of days and we'll go out next week

00:21:12.180 on uh on tuesday you guys sign up for a premium subscription it's only five pounds a month and

00:21:16.780 you get loads of premium stuff and you're going to be talking about that i mean that we got we

00:21:20.200 currently got a bit of a debt crisis going on in in the uk and it's because there was a whole load

00:21:24.940 of assumptions built into our financial system and these assumptions will sort of things like i

00:21:29.120 mean yes the debt was going to be low blah blah blah general population size was rising another

00:21:33.540 key one to what you're talking about is we assumed that globalization could go on forever meaning

00:21:38.800 that we assumed there was always going to be somewhere cheaper to get your stuff manufactured

00:21:44.500 and you could just endlessly

00:21:46.760 dismantle your manufacturing here

00:21:48.740 send it over there and they

00:21:50.780 would make stuff ever cheaper

00:21:52.320 oh and then after they'd finished making it and had

00:21:54.720 a bit of money what would they do with it? Oh they'd buy your

00:21:56.660 bonds. Yeah

00:21:58.640 none of that works. It also assumes

00:22:00.880 that your trading partners

00:22:02.560 are not geopolitical rivals

00:22:04.980 Well like China. Yes

00:22:06.620 and I mean America has done that

00:22:08.620 of course, I mean it's the whole

00:22:09.920 this disease that you're describing is the entire

00:22:12.780 western world the americans are now looking at this and thinking oh hang on a minute we might 0.88

00:22:16.220 want to go to war with china but we don't trump non-stop china china china china we might we might 0.97

00:22:20.620 want to go to war with china but we can't fire a missile at china without using china to make the 0.99

00:22:24.980 missile first and it's like a missile factory that we fired at them with yeah no no you're 0.99

00:22:30.040 absolutely right but this at the time wouldn't have necessarily been known because as as we've

00:22:35.000 oh at the time you you would have looked mad in fact there was a guy james goldsmith the founder

00:22:39.740 of the referendum party he did this thing and he was like the one guy who saw it he did this tv

00:22:44.980 interview where he said look if you do this globalization and he basically laid out everything 0.66

00:22:49.680 that was going to happen for the next 30 years and at the time everybody thought you're bonkers

00:22:54.180 why wouldn't we want to get cheaper stuff made overseas it's much easier as far as we have more

00:22:58.980 we have more don't you understand we have more and now do the young people feel that they have more

00:23:06.220 they do not absolutely they do not no because it turns out when you ship the factory overseas the

00:23:10.820 people who ultimately benefit the people at the factory and this is this is the issue the 1960s

00:23:15.440 were a golden age for capitalism right you know there were there were loads of um convenient

00:23:20.820 technological advances in the household in society in production like everything was going really

00:23:27.240 well and so jobs were ten a penny and this is why you get the the the boomer saying well i mean you

00:23:32.140 you told me a story about this just before we came on didn't you oh what was the story the guy

00:23:36.200 going into finance because he met the guy in the firm handshake it is so funny speaking to boomers

00:23:43.840 about how they got their job so this yeah there's one guy i knew and uh yeah i mean he had a top

00:23:49.540 career in investment banking or something and he told me the story of how he got it and it was it

00:23:54.520 was just comical basically he just met somebody a friend of a friend whose dad was there and he

00:24:01.840 gave him and it was literally they gave him the firm handshake thing and he got chatting to this

00:24:06.140 guy and he was like i need somebody in investment banking you seem like a good sort you want to come

00:24:10.460 and work for me and like and that was it but these days you try getting into investment banking with

00:24:15.200 anything less than a double first from cambridge and seven years as an unpaid intern and family

00:24:20.660 connect you know you're not doing it you're certainly not doing it by a chance encounter

00:24:24.680 and a firm bloody handshake the point being there were lots more opportunities yes in the 1960s for

00:24:30.760 young boomers coming of age you know you're 18 19 20 going to the workforce and of course we were 0.97

00:24:35.880 in a position we're in a time then where um you didn't need a degree for every goddamn job that 0.88

00:24:41.180 existed you didn't need to have higher education what they needed was workers and there was

00:24:45.900 opportunity there it's not quite the same now and so this leads into in britain the kind of

00:24:51.720 depression in the 1970s because of labor but that was self-inflicted right labor's effect on britain's

00:24:58.000 economy was completely self-inflicted and resulted in margaret thatcher and the year after ronald

00:25:03.820 reagan i mean there was i mean in the 70s there was there was a couple of factors a bit of oil

00:25:07.640 nonsense and uh printing money and that kind of stuff and that also just moved out yeah but the

00:25:12.320 labor governments like yeah they certainly didn't help three-day working weeks and all this nonsense

00:25:17.380 the unions and whatnot yes that's like that's our own fault yes and the point being though this 0.78

00:25:24.480 results in margaret thatcher and ronald reagan now when thatcher was elected the boomers were

00:25:28.700 between about 18 and 35 so very much a youth focused sort of um thing and reagan was elected

00:25:37.120 the year afterwards so this is a kind of youth movement that has captured policy no we're bright

00:25:42.260 we're optimistic we want a future that is open well how is this possible well it's because of

00:25:46.600 generation sizes right so the greatest generation was huge actually 26 million 27 million nearly

00:25:53.660 the silent generation was 13 million and the baby boomers were nearly 17 million generation x only

00:25:59.100 13 million now this is a really interesting thing because this meant that there were lots of young

00:26:04.340 baby boomers coming into the market they had a particular sort of that and there was a particular

00:26:11.000 kind of cult of youth in the 1960s as well that was i find very peculiar because i mean like have

00:26:16.700 met young people um well as i've grown older i've become a cult of age um so you've got this

00:26:25.300 tremendous optimistic energy in a paradigm shift where it's like no we're the newer generation

00:26:30.460 we're not like your old traditional fuddy duddies because we have a brilliant uh kick like having

00:26:36.760 incredible lives and there are loads of us because i mean like both of my parents come from six person

00:26:42.200 households right yes so my my my i can't remember the greatest or silent generation grandparents

00:26:48.380 um i probably silent generation i suspect much smaller generation the boomers right had they

00:26:55.460 they had six kids each you know each of these families every single one of my boomer aunts and

00:27:01.700 uncles had two to three children so family size halved so say grandparents generation you know

00:27:10.240 very large you know my my parents are both from large families and the next generation instantly

00:27:15.760 drops down to like yeah two kids because what did the boomers get access to birth control yes

00:27:20.480 came out in the 1960s never a thing before that and and and okay this is an interesting

00:27:26.340 paradox of economics you might think should you should you if you could choose should be you be

00:27:32.100 born into a small generation or a large generation and you might think the small because there's less

00:27:36.940 competition for going on actually it's completely the opposite round you want to be part of a large

00:27:40.940 generation because you kind of create this it's like a it's like a football going through a snake 0.97

00:27:46.980 you know you you distort it the whole way through so the boomer generation they came into work for

00:27:52.480 the first time they all went out bought a car a suit a house it buoyed up the economy and then

00:27:56.920 that wave kind of traveled with them the whole way and and the other thing go back to your point

00:28:00.580 about fatta and reagan is that they basically got the politics they wanted at every stage because

00:28:06.460 they were the largest generation when they were young they got youth orientated politics they got 0.85

00:28:13.360 what basically the zoomers want now yes when they were middle-aged they got middle-age orientated 0.99

00:28:18.280 politics when they were old as they are now they're getting old age even reform is committed 0.98

00:28:24.260 to the triple lock pensions and all the rest of it do you think if if the if the boomers if the

00:28:29.300 boomers were 20 you'd be getting triple lock no you wouldn't you wouldn't be getting any of that 0.97

00:28:33.660 shit what you'll be getting is everything the zoomers want now the zoomers are too small 0.98

00:28:38.660 compared to the boomer generation they've just had their that and again i'm not blaming them for 0.97

00:28:43.520 even now there are 13 million boomers alive in britain right yes there aren't even 12 million

00:28:49.620 gen z's yeah like their generation is still by absolute numbers yes more than the gen z's well

00:28:57.520 and i can tell you why it's the case with gen z is because in the uk for every two children that

00:29:01.760 get born one gets aborted so actually if you add 50 onto that it would be much bigger it'd be very

00:29:06.960 similar in fact yeah but that's just not the case right again abortion becomes liberalized in the 0.64

00:29:12.960 1960s anyway so this is why the boomers are able to basically capture a political paradigm and it

00:29:21.140 also gave them something to do because the boomers of course grew up and grew old during the cold

00:29:28.460 war also grown to middle age during the cold how long has it been since we've had a president a

00:29:33.200 u.s president who wasn't a boomer i mean i think technically the answer is joe biden because he

00:29:38.180 was silent generation by about a week but basically from clinton or is it from jordan yeah from

00:29:43.720 clinton onwards it's only been my president was born in 1947 and the next president born in 1947

00:29:50.680 seven and the next yeah it's remarkable it's it's it's just the eternal boomer yes it's yeah 0.93

00:29:57.900 who can say um but the point is the boomers had their great crusade right they the fall of the

00:30:05.940 berlin war was the triumph of the boomers liberal paradigm of the communist paradigm again the

00:30:10.980 russian boomers and just by the way like callum went to russia and he's obsessed with russian

00:30:15.480 history yeah and also north korea and or north korea he's obsessed with like the soviet blocs

00:30:19.860 and all that but he's like no they have their own like boomers over there who are i mean like putin 0.86

00:30:25.580 when he said right we're invading ukraine why because of nazis we need to denazify ukraine

00:30:29.680 it's like okay i mean the azov battalion exists but it's like 2 000 people it's like 2 000 men

00:30:35.520 it's not like you know it's not a nazi regime in ukraine ukraine has other flaws right but the

00:30:41.060 the russians have their own boomer truth post to be fair i think the russians have got a slightly 0.94

00:30:47.000 more cause to be nazi phobic yeah i'm not saying i'm not saying they shouldn't be like they bomb 0.94

00:30:53.440 the crap out of our big cities like you know like well yeah like there's there's no reason that like

00:30:57.940 you know we both got understand that we don't want to see organized germanism ever on the horizon 0.98

00:31:03.700 again right um the germans are not getting organized in our lifetime from the looks of it 1.00

00:31:08.440 well they are but to well to prostrate themselves yeah foreigners of the world but the point is the 0.99

00:31:14.600 the boomers had a great civilizational mission yes that we do not now have right we want 0.96

00:31:20.660 capitalism to win because we're looking around everyone's doing great everyone's making loads 0.52

00:31:23.960 of money reagan's deregulated everything we've got this massive free market we can just you know

00:31:28.980 we've got jobs coming out of the wazoo uh well but how do you participate in the cold war it's not

00:31:34.980 it's not by going off to a field in belgium yeah exactly exactly it's consumerism like the great

00:31:40.280 boomer crusade involved very little fighting on their own behalf yes lots more buying washing

00:31:45.820 machines tumble dryers believing the right thing espousing the right opinion and buying

00:31:49.920 drinking coca-cola yes that's what that's what toppled the soviet union yes like that westerners

00:31:54.600 it's not eating spam out out of a out of a tin in a trench in in a belgian winter yes exactly and

00:32:01.740 don't get me wrong i'm not and again this isn't a criticism at all no it's just it's just the

00:32:06.500 reality of their generation yeah and it's it's fine and i'm glad we won the cold war obviously

00:32:10.420 you know i don't want communism or anything like that i'm a business owner why would i want

00:32:14.040 communism um but this has made the boomers the wealthiest generation in human history yes right

00:32:20.400 now this this this is good right this is good that we we have lots of wealth in the west obviously

00:32:28.480 we want a wealthy country um but what this does is distorts the perspective of this generation

00:32:35.540 because it has it started with a cultural headwind of yep we've just won the war of history yeah like

00:32:44.000 we've just won all of history now we live in the post-historical world where everyone is a unique

00:32:48.640 atomic individual and we just happen to have the the land of milk and honey which is jobs everywhere

00:32:54.000 money everywhere you know everything's going great and every time we vote we get what we want

00:32:58.040 exactly yeah right every time we vote we get what we want and so you understand from their

00:33:01.800 perspective why they think that young people are mad because from their perspective you know you

00:33:07.140 go and do the firm handshake you get a job you become wealthy you own two houses and a couple

00:33:11.340 of rentals right you vote and then the politicians do what you want yes and you know you and and i'll

00:33:18.640 quickly address this the wealthiest generation a lot of a lot of people will push back on that

00:33:23.180 and assume oh well of course we're the wealthiest because we're the oldest we've had the longest

00:33:27.160 time to accumulate assets no it doesn't actually work like that the boomers are genuinely at every

00:33:34.040 stage of their life were the wealthiest cohort um compared to any other generation at that same 0.54

00:33:41.340 point in the cohort because by that logic it would have to be the silent and greatest generations 0.52

00:33:45.580 were wealthier than the boomers but of course they weren't okay and and the perfect example of this

00:33:50.020 is that the reason why we have really high pensions in this country 0.95

00:33:55.680 is because when the boomers were young people

00:33:58.920 and the greatest generation were old people,

00:34:02.600 at that time, old and poor were basically synonymous.

00:34:07.760 Yes.

00:34:07.980 It was one and the same thing.

00:34:09.560 If you wanted to do a government programme for poor people,

00:34:13.820 well, you don't need to make it complicated. 0.93

00:34:16.220 You just age-gate it. 0.87

00:34:17.620 you just say oh yeah um we're going to give money but only to old people because because young people

00:34:22.860 them were wealthy and old people were poor i mean yes there were some old rich people but basically

00:34:29.500 if you were old you were poor and that's how we got into this situation with pensions in the first

00:34:34.220 place that because the because the overlap between old and poor was so high well we just jack up

00:34:39.680 those pensions now those pensions went in on the assumption that everybody was going to have

00:34:45.400 children at the rate that the greatest generation silent generation did but the boomers didn't do 0.56

00:34:50.200 that because of birth control so what they should have then done is said okay well now we've done

00:34:54.220 this we're going to scrap all of those pensions but of course that didn't happen because it's

00:34:59.000 like well i've paid in now well the largest generation isn't going to vote for their own

00:35:03.020 immiseration right yes they're the ones in control of politics because they've got the

00:35:07.120 demographic voting power so of course they're not voting for that and that's we're seeing this with 0.78

00:35:11.320 conservatives and reform now like the boomers are still like oh yeah we're voting conservative

00:35:16.520 reform because they're promising to protect our pensions yes great that's great yeah anyway so

00:35:21.820 the point being is the boomers are the most liberal generation thus far they're the wealthiest

00:35:27.320 generation and they live in a period of actually surprising stability and a lot of them genuinely

00:35:34.240 don't understand why young people don't just do the same thing as them they can't it doesn't work

00:35:39.220 like that it's not set up like that yes and when they were voting right wing as far as they were

00:35:43.780 concerned right wing meant reagan and thatcher yeah reagan and thatcher are both liberals yes

00:35:50.180 hardcore committed liberals and we call them neo-liberals yes because of the extent of their

00:35:55.700 free marketeering right they are philosophically liberal to the court i mean reagan is the person

00:36:01.900 who turned california blue by saying oh no we're just gonna have a mass amnesty for illegals and

00:36:06.260 Reagan has got a speech where he's saying,

00:36:08.340 well, I believe an American can come from anywhere.

00:36:10.280 They can't go to Spain and be Spanish.

00:36:11.980 Then come here and be an American.

00:36:13.420 They're just sensible liberalism as opposed to insane liberalism,

00:36:16.580 which was the other option that you had at the time.

00:36:18.820 Precisely.

00:36:19.400 And if given those two choices of options,

00:36:21.280 yeah, I would have voted for Reagan and Thatcher too.

00:36:23.120 And also, I mean, just I'll quickly say,

00:36:25.280 towards the later part of their reign,

00:36:27.560 the reason why they're remembered so fondly,

00:36:29.140 I mean, yes, they were by far the most sensible option

00:36:31.840 of the options that you had at the time.

00:36:33.700 but also um they had peak um um workforce participation because of this large boomer

00:36:40.380 generation entering the workforce they were now out of school they're now working peak workforce

00:36:45.080 participation a monkey in a suit could have had a strong economy when these two were in power so

00:36:50.680 yes it's partly them but actually both of them put up spending yes um it's actually the this

00:36:56.600 the underlying demographics is what made them so successful yes and i mean thatcher credited

00:37:03.200 uh herself with tony blair she said he's my greatest legacy i've turned the labor party

00:37:08.080 capitalist i was like okay great yeah under a set of liberal assumptions yeah under a set of like

00:37:14.520 especially the extreme neoliberal assumptions and this this was always the complaint about the um

00:37:19.860 the gordon geckos of the world right i mean you've seen the film they live um the oh yeah

00:37:25.880 john carpenter the guy who made that yes he's like no no everyone's like saying oh this is a

00:37:29.360 no no no this is these are um extreme capitalists right they they view everyone as an interchangeable

00:37:37.760 fungible person and therefore you can see how mass immigration becomes as bernie sanders put it

00:37:42.300 a capitalist plot right and then we will just bring in people because if it's people that are

00:37:46.440 just making the thing work well we can have more people and therefore the thing works better yes

00:37:51.180 that's do you mean wall street or they live uh they live well yeah both actually right both 0.97

00:37:56.060 anyway so um let's get on to the uh social traditions that the boomers inherited right 0.76

00:38:01.800 because another another part of the boomer puzzle is the world they came out of now for a long time

00:38:10.240 england has been a really quite free place and this this meant that people took a lot of

00:38:17.440 responsibility for themselves which is of course a good thing and in his study on the origins of 0.96

00:38:22.680 English individualism, Alan McFarlane has gone through the records that we have from the Middle

00:38:27.920 Ages, and it is not nearly what you would think in England. Now, elsewhere, it is what you think,

00:38:35.720 right? So, for example, in the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the sort of Slavic East,

00:38:40.880 we have peasant societies. Peasant marriages occur in your teens, right? So, young women get 0.91

00:38:47.740 married off to young men, and then they get put on their family farm, and they work forever, 0.78

00:38:51.560 right they have a bunch of kids not true in england right so in england we didn't have uh serfs we

00:38:57.600 didn't have um peasants we had yeomen we had free men and that meant we developed a culture of

00:39:03.780 service so what it would actually be common to do is because we had individual ownership of land

00:39:09.960 which is really really rare in say the 1500s or the 1400s um we would have we would we would

00:39:18.460 literally outsource our children as servants in other people's houses right so they would pay for

00:39:24.760 them and this is where you get the victorian like uh massive sort of manor houses where it's like

00:39:29.140 the the servants live on the bottom layer and then the family lives on the top layer right

00:39:32.640 you know the sort of stratified households and this is why you know if you watch blackadder now

00:39:36.860 and the and the very nature of the relationship between frodo and sam is being captured in this

00:39:42.360 in lord of the rings right they're not personally related they're economically related but also

00:39:46.920 morally related like fredo's like oh i'm the lord so i have an obligation to these guys below me

00:39:51.740 but they are free to go like sam doesn't have to go with fredo yes but there's a set of obligation

00:39:56.160 it's a moral it's a moral connection they have to each other um but yeah so we we would we would

00:40:00.720 essentially outsource our children and they would just go and live with this other family and work

00:40:04.980 as a servant or whatever and so they're hired help they're not enslaved or anything but they're

00:40:09.400 being paid to be there and then they get married surprisingly late so on average in the middle

00:40:15.200 ages in england men would marry at 26 good law women would marry 24 that's almost a decade after

00:40:21.960 their mediterranean counterparts and their eastern counterparts right okay and also we had um market

00:40:28.780 towns so these were just markets right because you had loads and loads of uh private property

00:40:34.720 all throughout england people could make a living not on the land right you could sell goods and

00:40:40.140 services rather than just being a farmer right yes you could become an artisan and then when

00:40:44.580 somebody invents a bit of coal power you could take that skill set and become an industrialist

00:40:48.220 exactly and this was all set up but what this meant was that english uh i mean this this was

00:40:54.080 a consequence of the early centralization of england right england was centralized under the

00:40:58.300 king in was it 960 or something like that you know a really really early time um and this made

00:41:05.400 the country moderately homogenous when it came to law right so the laws of all of england that

00:41:10.640 for all of england you can go from one village to another and it's just completely normal and so

00:41:15.980 uh alan mcfarlane finds that um in each village only about a third of the population is there for

00:41:22.000 more than three generations so actually moving between villages is really common in england in

00:41:27.900 the medieval and people just marry in their mid-20s right so interesting this is very unusual

00:41:34.320 but what what this what this does is of course gives us a kind of independence of mind but as

00:41:39.760 i'm sure that every economist is aware marriage is just really good for your own economic prospects

00:41:44.940 the quicker you get married the longer you're married for the more capital you accrue right

00:41:49.720 well this is really interesting because the boomers jumped uh bucked a bunch of trends now

00:41:55.660 this is not like an insult or anything like this this is actually entirely to their credit it's in

00:42:00.260 here somewhere i'll just quote from the notes i've got in 1940 the average age of men was 24.3 when

00:42:07.600 they first got married the average age of women was 20.5 and from 1950 until the late 70s so the

00:42:14.940 boomers in their heyday the average ages of men and women getting married dipped to 23 and 20

00:42:20.880 respectively so they were getting married really early why were they doing that well the economic

00:42:26.560 conditions facilitated it right the the reason that you would um as a man get married in your

00:42:32.700 mid-twenties is because you'd have spent a decade working and saving up money to be able to get

00:42:38.320 married to be able to buy a house to be able to buy a bit of property whatever it was to support

00:42:42.440 a family boomers could support a family earlier in their lives great buying a house was a lot less

00:42:48.780 of a challenge as well but yeah exactly getting a job buying a house you know buying property

00:42:52.520 whatever it was that's that's great and that increases the amount of capital you can build

00:42:57.920 up over yeah i mean if you if you if you walked into the wrong room and accidentally gave two

00:43:01.680 firm a handshake and all of a sudden you're an investment banker you know you've got all this

00:43:06.380 money to spend you've got a house to have you know you want to have children but you can't manage it

00:43:09.860 all yourself because you're now working you know maybe 25 hours a week um you know out of some

00:43:16.220 london office you you're going to need to build that family unit and get on with it exactly so

00:43:20.040 the and i think you know in all of english history this is the youngest age that they got married at

00:43:25.940 right now that again that's good that is a very good thing but you know but the point is the

00:43:32.040 economic infrastructure had to be there to facilitate this otherwise you wouldn't um and

00:43:36.800 it turned out that 80 percent of boomers got married that's really really high so you got

00:43:42.400 married young and you you um state you got and almost all of you got married it was completely

00:43:48.640 normal like you know i can remember being a kid and literally every one of my parents age that

00:43:55.260 i was just even aware of had been married forever oh yeah i mean i well because we're old enough to

00:43:59.820 remember that sort of era because we would have been children at the time yeah i remember looking 0.98

00:44:03.500 back now even the gay guys are married they just married ugly women everybody literally everybody 0.93

00:44:07.660 got married yeah now this this has changed so 75 of gen x our age are married 65 of millennials 0.96

00:44:14.380 and on present trends only 50 of the zoomers will marry in their lifetime right that's that's a 0.95

00:44:20.700 massive collapse but what so what what are we looking at here right we're looking at the boomers 0.96

00:44:26.140 inherited strong conservative social norms and they are by the expression of their behavior

00:44:33.740 the most conservative generation that ever existed what what did they do they got married young and

00:44:39.180 they stayed married and they built up a lot of capital and and it's in that environment that

00:44:43.760 liberalism seems costless so one of the things i wanted from their political capital was

00:44:50.480 well sometimes this doesn't work out and therefore we want no-fault divorce and so

00:44:55.200 reagan and was it thatcher gave them gave them no-fault divorce i i would have to look it up

00:45:00.000 i know it was reagan i can't remember who it was on our side presumably it was thatcher

00:45:03.600 they got their no-fault divorce and because they're starting from this position of very

00:45:08.540 high social capital it doesn't actually matter because well actually i mean the boomers are

00:45:13.840 kind of famous for getting divorced a lot of them a lot of them did do that but because they were

00:45:18.100 starting from a position of the set of assumptions that everybody got married in the first place

00:45:22.520 you know even if they did get divorced they'd probably end up getting remarried like five or

00:45:26.020 six times they'd also yeah they would but they'd also have houses and assets yes right so a divorce

00:45:31.480 was normally something that impoverished you on both sides yes it was costly you lost money doing

00:45:36.520 on both sides it wasn't worth doing it in any other period of history yes right but now okay

00:45:41.680 it's not a problem because actually we're the wealthiest generation that's ever existed yes

00:45:45.520 we can afford divorce divorce is something that rich people do and it's just this whole trend of

00:45:50.940 well starting from here why don't we do a bit of liberalism yeah it makes perfect sense and

00:45:57.800 what happens if we take that trend and then run it forward 40 years think of the homogeneity of

00:46:02.600 the boomers right 80 of them are married in their 20s yeah well probably not 80 in their 20s but

00:46:07.700 you know overall 80 of them married okay you've got 20 of the society that is like marginal

00:46:12.320 okay they can't do anything they can't express any kind of voting power yeah they're not you

00:46:18.040 know 80 of us whatever we vote for we get which is why when we were kids all the mcdonald's were

00:46:23.280 child-friendly because the boomers wanted them child-friendly but now 57 of people are married

00:46:28.300 or will marry so most of them are not married but theoretically will marry you go to mcdonald's now 0.74

00:46:33.640 yeah it looks like it's out of a bloody dystopian fiction yeah exactly because you're not taking

00:46:38.200 kids in there because you don't have any kids because you're not married because the economic

00:46:42.440 circumstances don't permit you to get married you know what are you gonna do buy a house

00:46:46.460 like good luck you know so it's just the situation is so radically different for young people and 0.60

00:46:54.360 boomers had the the like this this culturally conservative inheritance that they were quite

00:46:59.400 happy to just go along with they didn't think well yeah of course i'm just gonna get married

00:47:01.800 and they got married really young and now now we're building up all this capital the society

00:47:06.020 is geared towards us as young families and everything's going our way it's like yeah okay

00:47:12.360 that needs to be passed on right and so the decline of um all things is inherent in the

00:47:22.480 60s onwards like for example the comprehensive schools right boomers went to good schools

00:47:27.840 right they had stratified education systems grammar schools based on what was actually

00:47:33.520 good for people like it's highly traditional and it was exclusionary if you weren't smart you didn't

00:47:38.700 go to a grammar school the state didn't which benefited everybody because if you were genuinely

00:47:42.940 smart you went down one track you went to the uh what was not comprehensive the grammar school

00:47:50.280 you went to that you went to the grammar schools and you had a professional career and that suited

00:47:54.740 you if that wasn't your thing if you're not you got a job in the trades yeah and you did great

00:47:59.600 yes and you had a better life because of it you learned real skills you were doing something which

00:48:04.740 you were much you had a much greater aptitude towards and you probably really prospered yeah

00:48:11.980 well we know they did they become the richest generation in history yeah but we know they

00:48:15.340 prospered yeah but i mean i know i i i i don't know how many you know perhaps now retired poor

00:48:23.160 boomer plumbers or builders there were who had their own business no it the it worked for them

00:48:29.820 but but this was like the original racism yeah well that no no that's a great point because the

00:48:34.640 the comprehensives were the labor drive towards egalitarianism we've got to make everybody equal

00:48:39.800 yeah and you see this even in kirstarmer now saying oh i hate those i hate those private schools

00:48:44.840 private schools are the engine of inequality yeah they are good i want inequality because that means

00:48:50.660 that good people can work really hard and if they're very smart they can get prestigious

00:48:54.340 places in society everyone should be normal you know it's fine if i found myself in a parallel

00:49:00.280 universe where the the means of success was not necessarily being smart it was i don't know being

00:49:07.380 really tall and being able to dunk basketballs and everybody else in that society was um eight

00:49:13.520 foot tall yeah i'm not going to be bent i'm not going to benefit a mere six foot two of being

00:49:18.700 forced into that system where i have to compete with people who eight foot tall to dunk basketball

00:49:22.960 what i want to do is i want to go to a special school which does another thing which perhaps

00:49:28.140 isn't as high prestige as jumping high but i can actually prosper at welcome to the comprehensive

00:49:33.400 school yes now everyone's going to be trying to dunk basketballs yes even though they're not eight

00:49:38.280 feet tall yes um yeah that that's what the comprehensive work and this this is general

00:49:41.920 revolution education that i'm not going to talk about now because it's going to take too long 0.69

00:49:45.360 but the point is that's not something the boomers had to go through right the boomers were leaving

00:49:50.160 school when this was done we went through it which is why we're retarded this is you know we 0.79

00:49:57.220 got terrible education yes compared to what was i i can't spell i don't have any idea how grammar 0.81

00:50:03.300 works i i didn't read the classics i got given proto-woke nonsense i mean just my education was

00:50:10.900 shit absolutely and i had to read all of those classics in my adulthood yes on my own out of my

00:50:16.520 own initiative yeah none of it was you know anyway the point being the education system changed 0.98

00:50:22.400 everything changed right yeah after the boomers had left school so now people of our generation 0.89

00:50:27.440 and younger the consequence of this education system and it's crap it's again a very much 0.61

00:50:31.860 homogenized proto woke as you say but and probably openly woke now egalitarian education system 0.90

00:50:38.380 because this egalitarian liberalism was the moral standard of the boomers so let's talk about the

00:50:43.240 church right now the boomers are not necessarily an atheist generation although lots of boomers

00:50:49.720 are atheists but they definitely began leaving the church now the church has an important feature

00:50:56.420 in society as you said earlier that um restrictive authoritarian side of society but also community

00:51:04.140 glue exactly right let me so this is um professor abby day she wrote a book called why baby boom

00:51:10.920 boomers turn from religion now i haven't had time to read the book or anything but she's got this

00:51:14.860 blog here in which she explains in summary what she found a key finding was in the words of so

00:51:20.100 many expressed to me that the boomers childhood church experience was a social thing largely

00:51:24.180 confined sunday school with nothing reinforced at home so it's a failure of the silent and

00:51:28.660 greater generations as well um it was as one boomer told me more social than actually believing

00:51:33.860 they were not heavily indoctrinated into christianity their parents it seems were already

00:51:38.060 having second thoughts as a boomer said i do not recall any religious behavior at home maybe little

00:51:42.820 pictures of jesus on the wall but i think that was a souvenir from new york rather than leaving

00:51:47.140 the church in a sudden act of defiance most boomers simply drifted away it seems there was

00:51:52.040 nothing very much to anchor them there in the first place this reflects larger societal turns

00:51:56.360 in the 1950s towards a less authoritarian way of thinking reinforced by the media and every

00:52:01.200 the influence of every parent's pediatrician as well as the ubiquitous and liberal dr spock

00:52:06.280 so again getting getting the benefits but but not passing on the legacy and 0.99

00:52:10.140 you know we talked about the high marriage rate for the boomers um it it would have been bloody

00:52:16.640 difficult not to meet a girl because you're either going to meet one at church or you're going to

00:52:20.820 meet them at the young conservative club or your dad's going to introduce because he's down being

00:52:24.860 in the Labour Club

00:52:25.700 and spoken to this other guy

00:52:27.860 and he's like,

00:52:28.200 oh, you've got a son,

00:52:28.780 I've got a daughter,

00:52:29.360 we should introduce him.

00:52:30.200 But remember, 0.99

00:52:30.620 the boomers are a highly

00:52:31.400 social generation

00:52:32.220 on their own terms.

00:52:33.240 Boomers loved going to the pub.

00:52:34.860 Yes. 1.00

00:52:35.160 Loved going to the pub. 0.96

00:52:36.260 Like all my boomer aunts

00:52:37.680 and aunts.

00:52:38.000 Yes.

00:52:38.660 When they meet up,

00:52:39.320 they always go to the pub.

00:52:39.980 I don't go to the pub that much.

00:52:41.800 No, that's true.

00:52:42.820 I'm busy, you know,

00:52:43.860 I'm busy doing stuff,

00:52:45.100 but I don't go to the pub.

00:52:45.900 But they used to,

00:52:46.440 every Friday,

00:52:47.100 every Saturday,

00:52:47.960 straight down the pub.

00:52:48.540 But for whatever proportion

00:52:51.000 would have met their partner

00:52:52.240 down the church,

00:52:53.240 a previous generation might have said okay well you know i've i've got something out of it now

00:53:00.440 i've got my i've got my immediate nuclear family compact but i need to preserve this for the next

00:53:06.640 generation and and that thinking was really slipping with this generation it's like okay well

00:53:11.640 okay now i've had my teens in the church and i met somebody or whatever it is or i've got my

00:53:16.120 sense of community i've met people and i can now go to the pub with them whatever i'll just go to

00:53:20.820 the problem with them instead and we don't need to do that thing because and and and this is a

00:53:25.560 weird thing and i suspect this probably happened to you as well it's like my parents are actually

00:53:30.260 religious but they didn't pass it on to me my parents are atheists okay just just not religious

00:53:35.780 at all and they didn't even get me baptized and they you know it was very again sort of like very

00:53:40.420 time of their era where they're like oh you can choose to do that yourself it's like well

00:53:43.380 so that was my parents in liberal modernity why would i do that that was my parents thinking is

00:53:48.920 is like and and this must have been a cultural trend at the time you'll come to it yourself

00:53:53.500 no you bloody won't it's like being raised in the woods as a little boy if you don't speak by the

00:53:58.680 time you're 13 you're never going to learn it oh no if you don't speak by the time you're like four 0.95

00:54:02.060 or five oh okay it's really young i looked into this um it's it's really young that the brain

00:54:07.200 forms in such a way that requires stimulus of people speaking to you if you don't speak by

00:54:12.620 the time you're like five or six you will never speak right it's really that simple and i feel

00:54:18.060 the same way and look you said this before about um religion like if i i wasn't taken to church as

00:54:23.740 a kid so it didn't germinate within me to have a religious impulse and this i i i i've said this

00:54:30.080 before i've told the story before but when i took my kids to get baptized i saw my parents really

00:54:35.140 enjoying the service they were singing all the hymns because they knew what to do they'd been

00:54:39.260 there before i didn't know any of the hymns and i was just like oh this is nostalgia for them

00:54:44.180 yes they remember being 10 years old and being forced to go to church on sundays but for them 0.98

00:54:49.680 now this is something a pleasant memory i don't have those and you know this is what the boomers 0.88

00:54:56.540 kind of liberating themselves from christianity of which means the church has been taken over by

00:55:01.780 the worst elements i mean today the leadership of the church of england is basically a but it's 0.77

00:55:06.400 basically a power fantasy for lesbians yeah it's it's pretty bad yeah um another academic article 0.89

00:55:13.040 here from oxford academic has another good take on it the vast 1960s turn towards higher education 0.80

00:55:19.420 often involved moving away from home appearing to cement the boomers growing withdrawal from

00:55:24.660 church and religion more broadly any boomers described this as inevitable given they had

00:55:28.520 already experienced and facilitated religious decline which seemed only to have been accelerated

00:55:32.580 by their leaving home it is not the variable of education that explained their growing atheism

00:55:37.300 but that leaving home and experiencing other ways of believing and belonging apart from university

00:55:42.100 they also experienced travel the workplace and other culture exposures two different ways of

00:55:46.280 being believing and belonging reflecting trends of pluralism and weakening the plausibility

00:55:51.140 structures that had already began to unravel as the young boomers did not have a strong spiritual

00:55:55.120 sense of god or any other deity there was no torment or wrench in leaving something that had

00:55:59.260 so little in emotional or relational connection and this is again like the the creation of the

00:56:04.560 airplane and holidays abroad right all of my boomer aunts and uncles go on holidays abroad

00:56:10.620 i actually don't like going to holiday abroad you know i i prefer i mean me and my wife take

00:56:16.000 the kids to the seaside in britain actually you know i actually like doing that um yeah we do that 1.00

00:56:21.220 yeah you know uh so anyway so the boomers are now the least church-going demographic in our country

00:56:29.140 really yeah weirdly enough uh sorry in america this is um but weirdly enough the the the gen z's 0.74

00:56:37.260 millennials and gen x's go to church more often than the boomers race gen z absolutely good for

00:56:43.880 them good for them um so the boomers tended to identify as christian but stopped acting 0.90

00:56:50.140 overtly religiously right they essentially left the church although in their personal lives they

00:56:55.620 acted very much like the christians that their parents had been because because because their

00:57:00.180 cultural assumptions were they didn't really know how to behave otherwise yeah and so society became

00:57:04.320 more liberal now there are some consequences to this and this might seem like um a bit of a

00:57:09.940 segue but actually as society became less religious and more liberal there have been

00:57:15.300 consequences in particular for women if i'm find the graph here right so the number of rapes reported

00:57:20.540 per year to the police in england and wales from 1898 and this graph goes up to 2014 right

00:57:27.360 less than 500 reported until about 1942 also for the country for the country

00:57:35.580 500 rapes for the entire country now there will be people saying yeah well um there are going to

00:57:42.280 have been uh women who didn't feel that they could come forward and say that this had happened

00:57:46.660 to them and that's true you know it's much more shameful and yeah sure let's assume it's 10 times

00:57:51.520 as many five thousand i mean what we would give for five thousand rapes a day today exactly uh

00:57:57.440 yeah no yeah yeah exactly for the year if we have only five thousand rapes yeah like that that would

00:58:03.320 be and as you can see well i can't read it was that bit where it ticks up is that uh that's in

00:58:09.240 the late 90s um so that's 1990 is here but it's already ticking up right it's already taking up

00:58:14.760 so the more liberal we become the more women end up getting sexually well i mean there's there's

00:58:21.060 another factor that happens there is there is indeed liberalism another factor so now we are

00:58:25.240 at the point where in 20 last year this was uh 74 000 in a year right used to be fewer than 500

00:58:32.880 again if you think about the very super socially conservative society yes well yeah there's not

00:58:39.540 much freedom for women but that also means women are very much protected yes i mean i mean also in

00:58:45.360 the late 90s the liberalism resulted in the opening of a certain border yes it did yeah um

00:58:51.940 yeah and i mean that yeah the the immigration into england correlates very strongly with

00:58:57.860 rape in fact when when does it very first start to tick up what's that no the one before that oh

00:59:04.060 um so in the well uh well i mean actually it's around the sort of wind rush era

00:59:08.420 oh where interestingly but uh but as interesting yeah so there's definitely a correlation okay

00:59:14.880 anyway so let's talk about the moral framework of the boomers which is anti-racism

00:59:21.100 yep this is based in the civil rights movement this is the moral foundation of boomer liberalism

00:59:28.620 mlk's i have a dream is a statement of individual liberation from unchosen inheritances i want to

00:59:36.080 be judged as myself in all circumstances and not as a member of a group as if somehow my moral

00:59:44.140 standards and my character as an individual are not shaped by the wider society in which i'm

00:59:49.640 born and raised right so my morals are nothing like all of the other people who are just like me

00:59:54.560 who grew up in my civilization in my village in my local area who believe my religion who believe

00:59:59.400 who've gone through the similar life experience similar schooling similar jobs similar educational

01:00:04.040 program somehow i'm different to all them yes unique atomized individual is the religion

01:00:09.760 it is of liberal it is the religion of liberalism that is the fundamental um moral axiom of boomer

01:00:17.620 ideology um you are a self-authored individual yeah which you are not you're of course the

01:00:24.200 product of your circumstances as well as your own personal they call it tabula rasa blank slate

01:00:29.360 yes that that was a thinking study to become incredibly popular yes and this this was very

01:00:33.840 apparent in liberal boomer culture which of course is heavily influenced by california

01:00:39.220 it's california that became the kind of mecca of boomers in the 1960s think of the summer of love

01:00:47.320 now as you can see for the concurrent period of race riots actually there were you know awful

01:00:54.640 riots all across america based on race in 1967 right but this didn't penetrate the boomer mindset

01:01:00.960 no they're too busy having fun no but this is the ascent of american culture in the west right so

01:01:06.240 america is really the country that won world war ii i mean to be fair most of the boomers would

01:01:10.800 have been fairly young children at this point but nevertheless this would have been a cultural

01:01:14.680 moment they would have grown up well the boomers the boomers were about 20 or younger

01:01:18.760 so the oldest boomers would be about well yeah about 1920 uh and the youngest would be old

01:01:26.240 enough to watch their older siblings go after these things these things would have been on tv

01:01:30.000 and it would have been the cool thing right word of mouth would have spread oh yeah this is the

01:01:33.960 cool thing we're all doing look you know our oldest older siblings are going to oh i'm 16 can

01:01:38.200 i go yeah go on you can break it no one's gonna check you know so this was the kind of um the

01:01:44.620 thing that the boomers were looking at as like the the sort of the new culture right the new

01:01:50.180 youth culture that was um spreading peace and love around the world right and of course this

01:01:56.480 is i think best typified in john lennon's imagine which is released in 1971 yeah so the boomers now

01:02:03.040 are 10 to 25 or maybe maybe a bit older um so the boomers like i forgot the lyrics to have the

01:02:10.920 lyrics here i thought they'd have the lyrics in it some nonsense about imagining well that it could

01:02:16.080 be liberal assumption came true is i mean lyrics encourage listeners to imagine a world of peace

01:02:23.060 beginning with living without religion and its concepts without economic materialism

01:02:26.200 without borders separating nations so imagine all the people living hand in hand i can't remember 0.97

01:02:31.000 the exact lyrics but it's just the most ridiculous wishy-washy libtard nonsense yes you have ever 0.89

01:02:39.620 heard and this is the moral summary right of this entire nevertheless i'll take him at his word and 0.93

01:02:46.260 i'll close my eyes and imagine it okay i'm doing it and now i open my eyes and i see that the world

01:02:51.400 is actually nothing like that at all yeah but that's why he had to say imagine it yes imagine

01:02:56.260 this thing yeah but that's that's bollocks john bollocks it's it's and again you didn't grow up

01:03:02.520 in a world like that you think you're a good person yeah and john i was like yeah i'm a good

01:03:05.700 person well then why would you think that world could have done all sorts of fantasies when things

01:03:09.160 are going really well yeah and so this this this attitude this this morality is the moral bedrock

01:03:16.860 of the boomers it's liberal civil rights views yes great war is the ideological war against

01:03:22.120 communism not because communism itself is wrong metaphysically but it is wrong practically yes

01:03:28.400 not get us to the end of history capitalism gets us to the end of it let me quickly clarify that

01:03:33.680 statement i made just a second ago because i because i i sense that we haven't given a

01:03:37.860 disclaimer for long enough now that we will be getting boomers in the comments typing furiously

01:03:41.720 saying you know we're just boomer bashing we're not to be clear what what i'm saying is is not

01:03:47.320 that the boomers had it easy what i'm saying is a unit of effort for a boomer produced a greater

01:03:53.700 share of um generational return yes than a a zoomer gets i'm not saying that boomers didn't

01:04:01.000 work hard they definitely worked hard i witnessed my parents and the people i know i witnessed them

01:04:06.280 work hard but as you say the returns on that if if the return on effort was higher exactly if one 0.92

01:04:11.400 hour of hard work produces 10 units of return for the zoomers it's three units of return yes that

01:04:16.600 you know what i mean it's it's so much worse and so yes but the boomers so the boomers so far 0.98

01:04:22.440 they've got they've got they're in such a good and frankly lucky position where they have um

01:04:29.960 a very strong economic base they have an ideological enemy and an ideological enemy

01:04:36.420 is a great enemy to have because you can change his mind well because you you can disprove him

01:04:40.400 right it's not they just hate you for intrinsic and you don't have to sit in a trench getting

01:04:44.400 shot at and of course it was a not hot war yeah so you're you're the winning war is just go and

01:04:49.580 get and cultural capital is still high even though you know liberal acid is all over this

01:04:56.420 cultural capital it's actually still there because there's quite a lot of it yes and this is the

01:05:00.440 idealistic aspect of liberalism right it's a very idealistic generation oh well imagine all the 0.81

01:05:05.720 people living hand in hand it's like what the rapists in afghanistan yeah i don't want to live 0.78

01:05:11.520 hand in hand anyway it's easy when you look around and like 98 of your neighbors are white well yeah 0.90

01:05:18.360 let's talk about oh okay there we go that's good exactly exactly right so there's there's a certain

01:05:23.280 demographic infrastructure that the boomers benefited from now oh i'm sorry i said 98 i

01:05:30.040 should have said 1998.5 yes now that that's an assumed number right because ethnicity just wasn't

01:05:37.740 asked on the census prior to 1991 because the number of non-white british people in the country

01:05:44.600 was so negligible that almost nobody had any contact with them now imagine and the ones you

01:05:51.920 did meet were really good because they were the wealthiest best and brightest of their country

01:05:56.520 and so if you know hang on not even that why were they here they were here because they worked for

01:06:02.640 the british empire yes they'd earned the right to have citizenship yeah they they passed a very

01:06:08.540 high bar or you know i i remember going to london in the in the late 80s and early 90s

01:06:13.980 and what even london was basically a white city back then oh yeah in 2011 it was 70 percent white

01:06:20.140 yeah 20 2001 i think it was and and you'd be going through particularly circus or something

01:06:25.040 and you'd see, like, you know, a wealthy Arab or something.

01:06:28.460 But, you know... 1.00

01:06:29.080 Like some Jamaicans or something, whatever. 1.00

01:06:30.440 Yeah, there is something fundamentally different 0.96

01:06:32.400 about meeting the 17th wealthiest man from Morocco in London.

01:06:36.840 You know, he's probably not going to mug you.

01:06:38.760 He's probably not going to harass your daughter.

01:06:40.680 He's going to go to St. James and pick up a high-end tart or something. 1.00

01:06:43.640 It's very different to meeting the 17th poorest guy from Morocco 1.00

01:06:47.560 who's now come over today. 1.00

01:06:48.920 There is a qualitative difference between the immigrants that we got then

01:06:52.980 and the immigrants we get now.

01:06:54.340 yeah now again like the white british percentage 98.5 percent that that is

01:07:00.640 unbelievable to zoomers yeah unbelievable so as you can see there the 2021 census would have us

01:07:08.860 74.4 percent now that's not correct right just to be clear um if you i mean like we know for a 0.96

01:07:18.760 start that's definitely not correct because of course the number of illegals in britain has

01:07:23.740 been estimated to be between one and two million for the last decade plus yeah yeah exactly well

01:07:30.240 i'll give you an example right um that there are 90 million active phone contracts in the uk yes

01:07:36.360 right so okay let's assume a certain proportion of people have a second phone for i know how much

01:07:42.280 that is i look this i looked this up the other day it's 12 okay um i mean and i i i'm not smart

01:07:50.780 enough to do the maths in my head taking off all the children right no you got to take off the

01:07:54.760 children and so on well well with active let's assume that children don't have active phones

01:08:01.260 12 that's 10 nearly 11 million people have a second phone for work okay right so if we took

01:08:08.140 that off that's still 88 uh 78 million people who are just they've got one phone yeah and so we can

01:08:14.780 assume that children don't have phones and a lot of old people won't have a mobile phone a lot of

01:08:19.120 them do have phones right but maybe over the age of 11 or something but sure sure um point is the

01:08:26.600 population is not what the government is telling us yes it's it's definitely higher it's at least

01:08:31.760 85 million i would i would be i mean the government's own official fix is 69 million

01:08:36.640 but even if we went by the okay it's 12 who have a second phone for work uh we're still looking at

01:08:43.780 78 million which is way higher than what we're being told but like you said well what about

01:08:50.480 children and things like this yeah so the population is definitely way higher than we're

01:08:54.440 being told right but anyway even if we just go on these numbers right this is still a survey from

01:09:01.480 2020 right that was published in 2021 so it's 74.4 percent the pre-borist wave then pre-borist wave

01:09:09.140 right so theoretically the white british in britain are three quarters of the population

01:09:13.420 doesn't feel like it when you walk around does it it doesn't feel like it and that's because

01:09:17.520 the boris wave was somewhere in the region of 5.6 million people allowed into this country

01:09:22.680 and if you let's say there are only 2 million illegals in the country which again i don't 0.62

01:09:27.300 believe for a second way yeah i don't believe for a second right that drops the white british

01:09:33.060 proportion to 66.7 we are only two-thirds of the country by an optimistic under reading of the

01:09:41.260 numbers so the infrastructure of the nation demographically is radically different to how

01:09:49.820 it was in 1961 radically different yeah we're not asking at this point if you're going to go to

01:09:55.920 church we're asking if your church is going to get burnt down or if it's going to be turned into a

01:09:59.660 mosque yes right is it just it is so insanely different and so we we just we have this scarred

01:10:07.560 country now right and again this is from 2021 but just look at it right leicester london birmingham 0.93

01:10:13.620 manchester and bradford all of these were majority white british cities that are in six years ago 0.99

01:10:20.560 before the boris wave now minority cities like this is just insane and something that the boomer 0.98

01:10:28.920 mind obviously cannot properly comprehend yeah it's just and again it's it's this map is well 0.95

01:10:35.820 out of date well i'll tell you why it's because um if you know if you're a well-off boomer what

01:10:41.360 you do is you end up doing what i do which is is you move down to you know anywhere yeah here we

01:10:48.120 go where's where's winchester uh there uh it's down south oh no hang on i'm looking in the wrong

01:10:55.420 place yeah no there you're just the right just the right there we go there we go right so yeah

01:11:00.440 88.1 so but all of england used to look like this right i mean you would like winchester's

01:11:07.520 getting a little bit diversity but it would look like you know areas like this yeah but you've just

01:11:11.920 got villages where it's just like there is not a foreigner living here so i mean if if you've if 0.88

01:11:18.580 you're wealthy enough if you can afford a house in a lib dem constituency even now you can avoid it 1.00

01:11:24.140 Absolutely.

01:11:24.640 So that explains why, you know, we can understand... 1.00

01:11:28.720 Richest generation in history. 1.00

01:11:30.160 Like, what's the problem with immigration?

01:11:31.620 You can understand how they continue to believe this stuff

01:11:34.080 because when they walk outside their front door,

01:11:35.800 they don't see what you see if you're 22 years old

01:11:39.100 and you're trying to make a go of it in life

01:11:41.880 and you move to a big city to get a job in some firm somewhere.

01:11:44.920 I mean, just imagine, like, living in these sorts of areas.

01:11:48.880 Again, it's just insane, right?

01:11:50.840 so every boomer assumption assumes an infrastructure to the world that no longer exists right the

01:11:58.260 economy is not great the social cohesion is terrible and of course the demographic integrity

01:12:04.340 of the british people has been shattered yes so bragging about being a boomer is basically

01:12:12.840 like bragging your parents bought you a lamborghini it's like okay great but it assumed that your 0.66

01:12:19.360 parents who had all of these resources to be able to do it because the world the boomers were born

01:12:23.700 into no longer exists and so if you were not born as a boomer you were born any time after i mean 1.00

01:12:30.960 for you know leave us out of it millennials and the zoomers it is not surprising that they are 0.96

01:12:36.020 looking back at what the boomers had and what they don't have and they are angry especially the 0.99

01:12:41.500 really angry so the millennials at least remember prior to the boris wave of mass immigration right

01:12:47.920 like when when it began under Tony Blair it was still only like 300,000 a year okay that's a lot 1.00

01:12:53.160 but that's not that much compared to like it is now I think the only reason the zoomers aren't a 1.00

01:12:57.360 hell of a lot more angry than they are is because they don't remember like we do what the country 0.99

01:13:01.600 was like at you know during the end of the boomer boomer legacy period I remember walking around

01:13:08.780 this country and and seeing how it functioned how people interacted how communities worked 0.98

01:13:14.660 if if if the if the zoomers could remember what i remember they would be they would be 10 times as 0.99

01:13:21.760 furious as they are now i mean like the 80s and 90s just such a golden era oh yeah it was like 0.98

01:13:26.900 again and in 1991 i think england was 92 percent white english white british um so even then you

01:13:37.340 know like there were a couple of you know non-english kids around okay so what there was

01:13:41.740 just no demographic pressure they had to conform and so we accepted them perfectly well obviously 1.00

01:13:46.600 because you know what are those what are we supposed to just be mean to something you know

01:13:49.600 like it doesn't make sense and i've seen like zoom is saying oh you have the national front

01:13:53.240 the british national party and you did nothing with them it's like yeah but it didn't make sense

01:13:57.260 to do anything with them in terms of having them i mean it was a thing somewhere that

01:14:03.240 yeah but your average person didn't feel demographic pressure

01:14:06.800 in the 60s or 70s you didn't meet the national front in most cases no i'd never you could live

01:14:12.080 a perfectly reasonable english life in any one of dozens of locations and never meet anyone even 0.88

01:14:17.420 vaguely connected to it i mean it was but then you never meet an immigrant either yeah so the point

01:14:21.560 is the the the clash of civilizations is going on it doesn't make sense to some boomer who's just

01:14:27.100 living you know like this they're 17 years old and they live in wiltshire or somerset or i mean

01:14:32.200 like even in all of these areas that are starting to go darker a lighter blue now like none of the

01:14:36.500 none of this would have made any sense to anyone around saying oh well you know you didn't worry

01:14:41.760 about the demographics no they didn't worry about the demographics they couldn't see it changing 0.84

01:14:45.140 it's the issue yeah exactly what's the issue right um so anyway the boomers got very lucky

01:14:51.000 historically is what i'm saying right it's bragging about being a boomer is like bragging that my

01:14:56.360 parents bought me a lamborghini it's like okay good for you right great for you i'm glad your

01:15:00.840 parents i'm glad your parents won the war against the nazis and you happen to be perfectly situated 0.82

01:15:06.680 and and again we're not saying that there is anything morally defective about the boomers 0.92

01:15:12.040 we're saying that they are a product of their time and if you were to if you were to pluck 0.73

01:15:17.020 a zoomer out of the cradle and take him back to you know 1959 he would be the same 0.98

01:15:22.440 exactly no great existential war no great depression a world unpoisoned by the social

01:15:29.460 liberalism you got to enjoy a world safe designed for you and which you own the unchallengeable

01:15:35.500 demographic like it's just incredible so anyway i i had a bit of a discussion with henry on this

01:15:42.760 and uh so i said look right rupert lowe has made previous statements about not being a self-centered

01:15:48.180 generation and thinking about the plight of younger generations how do you expect them to

01:15:51.440 win them over like this and he carries on um with a bit of an argument and i ended up making the

01:15:57.080 point that i made here well boomers boomers are actually the wealthiest most privileged generation

01:16:00.600 to ever existed in human history and grew up in 98% white england and uh and he ended up he did

01:16:07.560 end up replying to that at some point um but basically we had a bit of back and forth on this

01:16:11.260 there we go and uh he oh what are you just making generalized attack boomers bad zoomers good no i'm

01:16:17.200 not saying that at all i've met far too many zoomers to just say zoom is good uh just just

01:16:22.540 kidding lads um many of them are very annoying and i mean i i had the privilege of not being 0.99

01:16:31.120 polluted by the internet when i was a child right yes and that's again another thing that boomers 0.86

01:16:35.640 don't realize is how much the internet has done to the zoomers right it's awful right and this is 0.99

01:16:41.900 why so many of them are so socially conservative yeah it's like no i don't want porn like they 0.98

01:16:46.960 don't want porn in their movies why because it saturates everything they do is porn on the

01:16:51.680 internet on tap yeah they're sick of it by the time they're right just every time they go online

01:16:55.660 exactly the boomers have no idea what this is like right anyway so it's not about boomers bad

01:17:00.780 zoomers good it's about you do not understand their life circumstances you don't understand

01:17:05.760 why they are like what they are like right now this probably wouldn't matter so much if the um 1.00

01:17:10.720 the the the we'll get to that one in a bit if the zoomers weren't making their voices heard on 1.00

01:17:16.040 social media towards the older generations and saying well look we're not happy about this now 0.60

01:17:20.660 orla had made the mistake of saying um actually uh female genital mutilation is bad and it's our 1.00

01:17:28.240 responsibility to stop it happening in migrant communities in britain now in a way she's right 1.00

01:17:34.580 if they're going to be here yes we have to stop female genital mutilation in their communities 1.00

01:17:38.660 the easy way to get to get rid of the immigrants the question is why are they here yeah why why 1.00

01:17:43.480 is this something we have to deal with why are these third world pathologies manifesting in our 1.00

01:17:47.780 country and it's because we've been betrayed over and over by our government now all uh again she

01:17:52.740 wasn't wrong or anything like that and i'm definitely not having a go over this but it did

01:17:57.240 provoke the ire because as soon as you start saying things like that you're saying actually

01:18:01.520 those people matter more actually those people matter more and that's it's just not what the

01:18:08.080 zoomers want to hear and it's not acceptable to them to be honest and i i don't disagree 0.86

01:18:12.800 right i don't disagree that the zoomers need our help right so orla is the women and girls 1.00

01:18:19.880 spokesman for restore britain spoke woman sorry for restore britain uh then you get howard cox 1.00

01:18:24.180 replied now he is the restore britain transport spokesman so okay he says all of these people 0.99

01:18:30.500 they are not people they are jealous scumbags pathetic amoebas who need to get off behind 0.99

01:18:35.960 their keyboards yes they're zoomers they are jealous of you that's 100 true right howard they 1.00

01:18:43.340 didn't grow up in a 98 british britain that's what they're jealous of i bet they're not even

01:18:49.420 that bothered i was on holiday this week when all of this was going on and i came back to hear there

01:18:54.120 was a bit of a hoo-ha this is yeah this is the yeah right and so howard is right yeah they are

01:19:01.120 jealous but that's not exactly um something a stick with which to beat them right i mean and

01:19:08.580 the jealous is specifically they want what you took for granted yes that's all they want they

01:19:14.240 just want the world you grew up in they want to be to get married have a house and a job yes

01:19:18.140 they want britain to be full of british people that's all they want yeah that's all they want

01:19:23.440 and so saying they're not people i don't think actually dehumanizing our i mean they're they're

01:19:30.860 your grandchildren howard they're your grandchildren you are demonizing so the reason i mentioned why

01:19:35.680 i was away last night uh last week and missed most of this is because i mean i've met howard

01:19:40.420 cox he's very good on the transport stuff and i completely understand why he got selected as

01:19:45.380 a transport spokesman for restore because he he spent years and he's very good on that

01:19:50.460 particular subject he's very personable in person um but i don't know he's a lovely guy that's the 1.00

01:19:58.420 thing we're not saying boomers are bad people they're not bad people it's just they're blind 0.98

01:20:02.000 to the problems of the zoomers yeah and as you know they're not people that jealous come as well 1.00

01:20:07.280 we've just had a bit of breaking news as we're recording this apparently all has decided to 0.74

01:20:11.100 resign as the spokeswoman for women and girls at restore britain which i'm not you know i'm not

01:20:15.980 happy to have i mean i appreciate everything that she did because she went out and she was making

01:20:19.540 the argument about the rape gangs and all the sort of stuff so it's all good but the problem

01:20:23.820 is there's a disconnect between the sort of boomer ideology of the 20th century and the 0.76

01:20:29.440 zoomer ideology oh yeah it is driving right-wing politics in britain right and this disconnect 0.57

01:20:35.800 if if you can't understand why the zoomers are saying the things they're saying you can't be a 0.99

01:20:41.320 spokesperson right because this is true what they are living through is true yeah it is true that 0.93

01:20:47.320 they are i mean we are looking now at the moment right now 40 of all young people in britain

01:20:53.780 are not white british right and we are looking at by 2060 the british people being an absolute 0.57

01:21:00.580 minority in britain yeah if you can't see that the zoom is like holy shit we have to do something 0.96

01:21:07.000 right now right now and none of this bloody woke boomer oh i'm not a racist anti-racism stuff 0.98

01:21:12.340 that's not going to cut it if you can't see why that's not going to cut it what good are you

01:21:16.680 right that's why they're so angry and i agree with them yeah but you got you got to remember

01:21:21.620 this this is a generation that has been taught their entire lives that that race doesn't matter

01:21:28.480 yes um why are you talking about skin color that's so irrational we'll get back to that in a minute 0.63

01:21:33.340 in fact in fact you're completely right the next thing i was going to go on to is the boomers are

01:21:36.980 furious at the zoom of vanguard who are most concerned about demography because it's the most

01:21:41.540 uncomfortable place for the boomers to go because the entire moral worldview as opposed to it yes

01:21:46.260 john lennon imagine we're not people we're not borders i'm an individual judged by my character

01:21:50.480 and nothing intrinsic the entire way that you signal goodness it it's it's how anti-racist am

01:21:57.780 i yes and and you know for years i watched the conservative party do this as well they all do

01:22:02.960 it it's why they have kemi baden yes yes it's the reason she is the leader is because she's an

01:22:07.700 african woman right so anyway all has resigned and uh you've got henry bolton blocking people

01:22:13.360 away and this is like no these are our foot soldiers these are our zuma activists who are

01:22:17.420 making the big noise about restore britain and he's just like no i hate all of these people blah

01:22:21.380 blah blah right you had him tweet this and this is this is the perfect example of the miscommunication

01:22:27.300 between the boomers and the zoomers right because from the boomer commonwealth appreciator yeah this

01:22:33.260 is a very noble post yeah this looks like this guy has come here and he's exemplifying the best 0.52

01:22:39.760 of our traditions this is good imitation is the sincerest form of flattery yes couldn't integrate

01:22:45.420 more right and if he was the only seek in the village yes makes perfect sense yeah if yeah if

01:22:51.540 if you're living in a village somewhere and one guy turns up and he fits in perfectly and he

01:22:57.220 plays the cricket he does all the things and and he becomes one of you why not exactly that's

01:23:04.720 literally what happened to my grandfather yes right my grandfather came over to britain during

01:23:08.480 world war ii to help with the war effort loved england loved cricket i remember one of my earliest

01:23:13.440 memories of my granddad is being dragged out to the yeovil cricket field and having been forced

01:23:17.640 to watch cricket i hated cricket but my granddad loved it so i had no choice right we had to go

01:23:23.000 and do it but that was exactly my granddad's experience he was like the one you know black

01:23:27.560 guy it was like not black but like you know foreign i don't know you anyway long question

01:23:32.580 but he's the one you're taking the view that if you're foreign you're black it's it's fine

01:23:35.720 he's the one foreign guy in the village and so he completely agree so that's what henry bolton

01:23:41.760 here is like yes splendid constable sund i can't suki singsonger of the vancouver police pipe band

01:23:50.320 a seek drum major in the vancouver so what's he doing he's signaling i'm an anti-racist i think

01:23:55.820 all of the peoples of the commonwealth are british really and what are the zoomers hearing

01:24:01.000 to the zoomers what they're hearing on what they're seeing is this guy is going to replace 0.79

01:24:05.540 you skin suiting their own culture while he replaces it lands very differently when your 0.95

01:24:11.660 mental model is 98 british and the occasional guy comes over and he honors your culture by

01:24:18.540 emulating it lands wildly different when you're about to become a minority when you go to school

01:24:24.200 and you and you look around and it's like there were seven white kids in my class

01:24:27.900 yeah out of 30 yeah and that's literally my kids experience in the states yeah that's why i put

01:24:32.360 was one of the reasons i put them the boomers approving their anti-racist liberal civil rights 0.89

01:24:38.880 credentials but what are the zoomers hearing right the zoomers are they're hearing you obsolete 0.77

01:24:44.420 and they're also looking around right so for example in canada at the last census in canada 0.92

01:24:50.640 2021 but it's worse now right there were a quarter of the population were foreign born

01:24:56.060 not just second generation third generation non-european ethnic stock canadians first

01:25:01.360 generation first generation foreign born now that's probably about 30 35 their version of

01:25:06.540 the tory party must have a real difficulty trying to pick which one of them is going to be leader 0.98

01:25:10.320 well it's all sikhs if you look it's really funny there's a meme going around where it's like here's 1.00

01:25:16.040 the liberals here's the conservatives here's the greens it's just all these sikhs right right but 0.78

01:25:20.420 anyway but the point i think sikhs are only like two percent of india yeah still two percent of 0.98

01:25:25.060 india is enough it's still enough to flood yeah canada yeah there's only like 500 000 sikhs in

01:25:30.280 britain and like something like 25 million sikhs worldwide right and yes yeah exactly yeah um and 0.98

01:25:35.760 nothing wrong with the sikhs i like the sikhs i've met loads of sikhs i like the sikhs right

01:25:40.700 they were some of our strongest soldiers right in the british empire they they've they've done

01:25:45.820 good service to britain i don't want to make people think oh they were one of the few um native

01:25:50.900 armies that we considered a peer army yes and we don't give that distinction out lightly no we don't

01:25:57.340 They're one of our few martial races.

01:25:59.100 Yes.

01:26:00.020 And there are many, many races we did not give that kind of respect to.

01:26:02.920 No.

01:26:03.220 So I'm not trying to in any way say there's anything wrong with the Sikhs. 0.55

01:26:07.040 It's about the numbers, right?

01:26:08.620 Yes. 0.97

01:26:08.820 Because when a third of your country is non-European, right, 1.00

01:26:15.180 when one Sikh is doing it, it makes perfect sense. 1.00

01:26:18.320 It's a very noble thing to say, 1.00

01:26:19.480 yeah, no, I will recognize him as a team player, a friend, one of us,

01:26:23.720 because he's here, he's put the effort in, and we'll accept him in. 1.00

01:26:27.140 he's integrated right that makes sense but the zoomers interpret this from their position of

01:26:32.240 demographic insecurity as the boomers giving away their cultural inheritance to foreigners

01:26:37.560 to the boomer and the zoomer perceive this very differently and this is why henry and the rest of 0.90

01:26:45.340 them need to think about this it looks like the boomers are glad they're being replaced yeah the

01:26:52.160 but the boomer thinks that this is a celebration of britishness being well this is vancouver but

01:26:59.500 you know what i'm a british descendant this is a celebration of british ideals to the point where

01:27:04.820 everybody wants to do it aren't we great yes and and yeah the the zoom is just seeing replacement

01:27:10.480 right here yes everything has been destroyed like you've you've given away the economy you're giving 0.77

01:27:14.980 away the housing market you're giving away my country itself the idea of being the majority

01:27:19.260 in my country is on on the horizon disappearing and you're here praising some seek guy i mean

01:27:25.220 you're absolutely right this is that thing that went around on twitter a while ago the dress that

01:27:29.940 some people saw as blue and some people saw as gold yes that's exactly what's happening here

01:27:34.320 and so this this this mindset is intrinsic to the boomer so you have howard cox who used to be

01:27:43.120 an advanced uk spokesman now he is a restore britain spokesman um in fact he is uh the

01:27:51.240 restore transport spokesman he's jumped from advanced to here now advanced was explicitly

01:27:55.760 a kind of boomer anti-racist party run by ben habib britain restore britain is a nativist party

01:28:02.380 it's a party for the british people and it has staked itself out on those terms so having him go

01:28:07.720 well i mean this was back in march this year before advanced fold and what's he saying in

01:28:13.240 this one he's saying rupert lowe is surrounded by people who are close to being racist

01:28:17.180 i'm not saying restore britain's a racist party but it's close to being racist oh no that's the

01:28:23.960 high treason of boomerism yes right if someone is a boomer the worst thing that you can be is a

01:28:29.980 racist because being a racist is being hitler right that's what it is that's that's the fundamental

01:28:36.060 premise upon which the entire liberal axiom revolves right and so i tweeted out this right

01:28:41.680 because you remember this pripyada gopal woman right she um was saying well if you believe in

01:28:48.420 the existence of biological racial differences you're a racist how is it we've got different

01:28:52.520 races then because well that's the point clearly clearly that is true but that's the point right

01:28:57.240 this is the liberal term that it all boils down to this if you think that differences in skin

01:29:04.400 color or biological you were a racist that's merely one aspect of it well that yeah but that

01:29:12.060 that's what it all boils down to if i can accidentally click back where i was um

01:29:17.320 right yeah so group differences do the kenya or whatever i think it's kenya put out a hell of a

01:29:25.780 lot of exemplary long distance runners yes um russians put out a lot of exemplary novelists

01:29:32.520 I mean all the power lifters in northwestern european and all this sort of stuff but the

01:29:36.820 but the point is that if your liberal assumption is that everyone is the same yeah and a proto

01:29:46.040 a pre-social man yes it exists as a blank slate before his interaction with society

01:29:54.280 and that everyone is actually an interchangeable unique self-authoring individual yeah then to

01:30:00.480 recognize distinctions between kinds of people is what racism boils down to at its most fundamental

01:30:06.480 level yeah to recognize different kinds of human yes is racist and i remember when i was 12 actually

01:30:14.460 because this this stuff got bombarded into us when we were at school and i remember when i was 12

01:30:19.960 actually believing it and thinking and i remember hearing a story at the time about how the then

01:30:26.220 tech firms which would have been microsoft and aol and stuff like that were struggling to find

01:30:30.180 highly qualified people and i thought oh why don't they just set up a load of schools in africa where

01:30:35.620 it's really cheap and they could train up a whole bunch of people and then just just get the work

01:30:39.560 done there because it sends some aid to africa yeah how many trillions anyway then i got older

01:30:45.660 and thought about it a bit more and realized yeah that's not going to work maybe people are different

01:30:49.920 around the world yes nothing wrong with that you know and i'm not saying in which kinds of ways

01:30:54.400 they're different there's all kinds we're not even saying which one is better yeah but but you're

01:30:58.780 suited for your environment but the but the liberal principle of racism boils down to the

01:31:05.820 mere distinguishing between different kinds of people it's not having a negative attitude it's

01:31:10.240 not attitudes of superiority or hatred it's noticing this on any level whatsoever exactly

01:31:15.100 right and the worst example of this that i think is currently going on and this happened only in

01:31:20.260 the last couple of days and this is what has inspired this it's peter hitchens ah right now

01:31:25.560 for anyone who doesn't know peter hitchens as you can see from his books uh a short short uh

01:31:31.520 things to mordor revolution betrayed unconventional wisdom the phony victory of the world war ii

01:31:36.740 the war against drugs that we never fought the rage against god the delusion of david cameron

01:31:41.700 liberalizing the conservative party the abolition of british liberty and finally the abolition of

01:31:46.840 britain even the most right-wing conservative man that is conceivable to have yeah is a liberal

01:31:53.620 because he's a boomer and and before we go on to say whatever we're going to say about peter

01:31:58.460 hitchens can i just say these books are bloody great they're incredible in particular the

01:32:03.340 abolition of britain and the cameron delusion just just read go you can go anyone can do this right

01:32:07.760 do it now well watch us first go to amazon and you can you can what read the first like 20 pages

01:32:14.360 read the first 20 pages of the cameron delusion i mean it is just chef's kiss every sentence and

01:32:20.480 The Abolition of Britain was just such a good book.

01:32:23.420 I love his central heating.

01:32:25.580 Damage the family.

01:32:26.720 That's a great point.

01:32:27.860 And you don't think about it.

01:32:28.420 Yeah, because everyone had to be in the same room to be warm.

01:32:30.740 So you had to get along with one another.

01:32:32.420 It builds the social bonds.

01:32:33.860 These sound silly, but these are all things that are real.

01:32:38.620 And he has correctly identified almost everything that has gone wrong.

01:32:44.280 Yes.

01:32:45.060 And he was saying it long before it was popular to say it as well.

01:32:48.780 Yes.

01:32:48.980 but god forbid you listen to peter hitchens and then you actually try and do anything about it

01:32:54.000 which is basically because you cannot get out of a problem that liberalism created

01:32:59.100 by doing more liberalism but he won't he won't tolerate you doing anything apart from liberalism

01:33:05.820 well let me go through this right all these books are about how the country that the boomers 0.72

01:33:10.360 inherited have been eroded by the liberal values the boomers yes right uh degraded and then

01:33:16.760 eventually abolished yes and he's right he's right he's right every time 100 right this went around 0.79

01:33:23.180 twitter the other day journalist and philosopher peter hitchens has endorsed restored britain

01:33:27.040 i mean do you believe that for a second i really no right obviously not obviously not right it

01:33:34.900 doesn't seem like the type no he's not obviously he says restored britain was the last hope this

01:33:39.400 country has left and winston rupert lowe reminds me of winston churchill and that sounds like a

01:33:43.680 boomerism but that's absolutely not he was furious furious this tweet is a shameful lie

01:33:50.200 i would rather eat a raw sea urchin in warm pondweed sauce than so much as meat rupert

01:33:56.380 low yeah that sounds that sounds more like him yeah i would never under any circumstances

01:34:00.740 endorse his frightful nasty faction but i mean don the don the fox is a liberal as well because

01:34:07.640 he he assumes that being compared to winston churchill was a good thing maybe he just knows

01:34:12.200 all the things like young young zoomers are not you're not going to think that yeah but uh but

01:34:17.000 anyway pete hitchens was furious right yeah um and this began a dialogue so charlie downs responded 0.59

01:34:23.880 to this saying well hang on a second your work has inspired every member of that frightful nasty

01:34:29.480 faction forgive us if we're not prepared to give up on the britain on britain as you have peter how

01:34:35.020 do you think we came to these opinions in the first place it's because we read you

01:34:38.320 like the abolition of britain like so for me right my personal journey about 2018 i realized

01:34:46.100 i was gonna have to do a lot of work right and so in sort of 2019 uh 2020 to 2023 that sort of time

01:34:52.600 that's when i did my philosophy degree and i started reading right-wing authors and i

01:34:57.200 specifically like as a liberal i'd never even thought i'd need to give them the time of day

01:35:00.720 right and reading uh edmund burke um uh uh what's the michael oakeshaw and peter hitchens

01:35:09.480 right the abolition of britain i was just like and it was like your first line of crack it's like

01:35:13.920 he's that's good it was it was more just like it's been here all along and he's right and so

01:35:20.700 charlie down's exactly the same right and so to have peter hitchens be like no no no this nasty

01:35:24.840 faction okay right uh harrison pitt replies as well to that thing saying on replacement migration

01:35:30.980 the issue of our time peter hitchens is still a loyal soldier of the cultural revolution

01:35:34.960 what is the point of spending half a lifetime in recovery from devotion to leon trotsky if you

01:35:39.440 remain in old age to his left on demographics peter replies well this is also bilge how

01:35:45.360 how is it bilge peter hitchens does it whenever a discussion gets a bit into it he stops explaining

01:35:53.560 and starts putting out the most ambiguous possible statements.

01:35:57.560 So, a bit slippery.

01:35:59.320 And in fact, I asked James Stellingpole years ago

01:36:02.000 why he's never debated or hadn't at the time,

01:36:06.440 because he was in a debate with Peter Hitchens about something.

01:36:08.220 I said, well, why don't you just debate him?

01:36:09.300 And he just looked at me and said, because he's so slippery.

01:36:13.020 And this is what it means.

01:36:14.160 He won't give you anything to cling on to.

01:36:17.180 He will just become...

01:36:18.780 Of all these Peter Hitchens...

01:36:20.540 Yes.

01:36:20.980 Right.

01:36:21.220 And we're going to carry on.

01:36:21.860 they are going to get more and more ambiguous and slippery as we go along prediction not that much

01:36:28.240 i'm not that ambiguous so he replies to charlie downs is you inspire us peter saying we 60s

01:36:34.920 veterans remember the u.s officer who destroyed a village in vietnam in order to save it i doubt

01:36:39.080 you have any clue what your ideas would mean in practice few teenagers do you get your way others

01:36:43.760 will need to forgive you for quite a lot really i think it's the other round given this discussion 1.00

01:36:48.700 we've just had about the boomers the the second half of that is like yeah the zoomers will never 0.79

01:36:55.940 forgive you if you don't change if you don't understand why the demographic security you 1.00

01:37:01.840 enjoyed in your youth is such a it's such a point of prominence in the zoomer mindset 1.00

01:37:07.700 they will never forgive you what we are asking for it will damn your memory by the way all boomers 1.00

01:37:14.020 will have their memories damned forever by the zoomers every zoomer historian and everyone that 0.97

01:37:18.920 comes after the zoomers will look at the boomers and say most evil selfish generation in all of 0.99

01:37:23.080 human history and and what we're asking for is the same demographics that you had when you were 1.00

01:37:30.020 growing up asking for your money we're not asking for you to give anything up you just have to say

01:37:35.780 yeah maybe give up the triple lock but yeah well maybe uh but that exactly right and i know i just

01:37:42.340 because a lot of them do this they look at restore britain and and when they hear demographic

01:37:49.760 security what they seem to imagine is that we want to go house to house ripping up the floorboards

01:37:55.440 to find anyone who hasn't got sufficiently blonde hair and blue eyes yeah and then put them in a

01:38:00.360 cannon and fire them off the cliffs of dover yeah but that that is not what he is suggesting here

01:38:05.020 death camps yeah well and and look you and you can see it with the lotus eaters right because 0.80

01:38:09.920 we've got a couple of foreigners we've got fraz and stelios no the way it works is we are setting 0.94

01:38:15.700 a bar and if you clear the bar well you're fine with us even if you do have the disadvantage of

01:38:22.140 being not an englishman right but we want a bar and and basically our experiences growing up was 0.87

01:38:28.400 there used to be a bar and and a handful of people got over it and and so when you met a foreigner

01:38:34.120 well apart from maybe some of the wind rush and some of the inner city ones and maybe maybe i

01:38:38.540 i never met them when i was a kid maybe the miriporeans who came over and then yeah but okay

01:38:43.120 the ones that you met in the in the nice bits of the country it was a guy came over and was a gp or

01:38:48.520 something they're very decent fellows yeah and and and basically there was a bar and you had to

01:38:52.940 clear it to get over apart from every so often labor came in and then just put a whole boatload

01:38:57.440 of people in or something like that but but generally the natural immigration that occurred

01:39:00.800 it was clearing a bar and if we had that all of this would not be be a non-issue the problem is

01:39:07.400 is we've lowered the bar to the point where it is literally on the floor and anyone can step over

01:39:12.400 it no do you not remember jack straw and tony blair they they gordon brown they they they sent

01:39:17.340 out teams of the third world to find people to drag here yes right it's not even there's a bar we 0.76

01:39:22.560 made them come here and we're currently paying started using the bar to herd them yeah exactly 0.96

01:39:27.720 and we're paying billions of years for them to sit on welfare in this country so anyway charlie

01:39:31.940 as you can see here said look right rather than resorting to insults and innuendo he's just

01:39:35.920 calling charlie a nazi yet really uh why don't you just state precisely what it is about our

01:39:39.980 ideas oh he's not going to do that i tell you i have heard them before somewhere charlie downs

01:39:44.260 so i so have you i think you're a nazi that's what he's saying he and you've replied to this

01:39:51.060 in fact you know trying to find a boomer who doesn't seal politics through the prism of world

01:39:54.200 war ii he's he's calling charlie a nazi right and the thing is though he he didn't actually

01:40:01.160 say nazi though did he so if you know so if charlie had replied and said so you're calling me a nazi

01:40:07.680 he would have replied where did i say that i didn't say that yes you're being disingenuous

01:40:13.620 he replied to august prompt here um because he says well man bermoses the state of britain for

01:40:17.660 20 years especially the deleterious effects mass immigration and on society telling young people

01:40:21.760 to leave the country as it's over man has his wasp nest in his house tries for years to get 1.00

01:40:26.400 it removed nobody succeeds the new firm arrives proposing to get rid of it by burning his house

01:40:30.640 down i know sorry why would no no that no that's not the analogy what we know what happened is

01:40:37.160 is we've had people bringing wasp nests into our house and telling us it's a good thing

01:40:41.920 and then and then we're the guys sat in the corner saying yeah maybe we should get rid of

01:40:45.880 those wasp nests and it's instantly nazi exactly right distinguishing between yourself and the

01:40:51.880 wasps is burning the house down right remember the principle of discrimination yes is what he

01:40:58.300 is hinging this on now if you say the wasp and the family that lives in the house are different

01:41:05.020 yeah then that's the whole thing destroyed it's like working what were you creating in the first

01:41:08.860 place right and of course he's like you know well no no i've been i've been trying to get

01:41:12.680 intelligent and practical political change and receive no support okay i don't see recalling

01:41:17.160 seeing you around at the time no that's because i mean charles maybe not but like most of the

01:41:20.980 people he's talking to were just too young or weren't even born when this was going on well

01:41:26.520 his go-to is did you did you not vote for the conservatives in 2010 and if you and if you

01:41:32.380 didn't not vote for them well sorry you brought this on yourself and and the zoom is quite

01:41:36.500 reasonably reply yeah but i was for how could i have done yeah exactly anyway so uh this it is

01:41:43.100 also very much class-based you can see this is about peter hitchens own ego i would never believe

01:41:48.020 that a decent sane intelligent man like hitchens would ever endorse a neanderthal like low oh yeah

01:41:52.620 as if rupert lowe's just a savage like what have you met the guy he's a lovely chap anyway um so

01:41:59.480 people are like well hang on a second uh don't you find demographic change a concern can we read

01:42:05.060 or listen to you on the subject of replacement migration of the british becoming a minority

01:42:08.620 and petitions gets to the final point which is just well you can read about in the same place

01:42:14.660 where you hear my thoughts on flying saucers poltergeists or the lockdown sponsor it's not

01:42:18.220 real yeah it's not real it's not happening and it's like peter he's just like oh no i can't

01:42:24.380 believe you don't find this concern well i worry about not lock nest monster a lot in the boomer

01:42:28.860 mind is england is 98 english yeah he can't believe that actually the english are going to

01:42:35.580 become a minority well and to your earlier map the places that most of them live that have these

01:42:41.480 sort of opinions it actually is yeah he he can't believe this is going to happen but it is going

01:42:50.520 to happen it is happening it's it's already it's there's just dense cluster in the cities which is

01:42:58.720 masking it is if it was spread out evenly across the countryside they would suddenly see it but

01:43:04.380 there's these dense clusters in the city and and look when they become the majority it will just

01:43:10.420 it will just fan out over the entire thing it's not like we get to keep the countryside forever

01:43:15.000 and yeah exactly i mean literally the government is currently trying to diversify the shires

01:43:19.860 actively it is actively putting foreigners in the shires and yet peter's just like no it's not

01:43:24.960 happening and it's not that nothing can be done right we all know things can be done is that

01:43:30.440 nothing may be done yeah you may not distinguish between the wasp and the family live in the house

01:43:36.680 or you burn the entire house down it's like no well isn't isn't i've never done this but the

01:43:41.440 the alcoholonomics thing alcoholics anonymous isn't isn't like the first thing admitting that

01:43:46.380 you've got a problem well that's the first step on any solution that i mean they still admit there's

01:43:52.180 a problem we're not at that we're not admitting that there is a problem exactly he doesn't believe

01:43:56.620 it is possible it is a ludicrous thing like the lost loch ness monster or flying saucers

01:44:02.160 right is ludicrous to think that the english are going to be suffering uh demographic insecurity

01:44:07.720 or become a minority in their own country right and the thing is again with all of these things

01:44:12.800 right peter hitchens the most right wing of the boomers right even he is the same as the rest

01:44:19.980 look at this interview he did with peter whittle in this was in 2025 this article is published i

01:44:27.680 don't know when the interview was oh the interview was done in 2024 right so it's two years ago

01:44:32.160 right? When people make the claim that the country will be minority white British by the

01:44:35.760 2060s, how do you feel about that? Hitchens. Well, I'm afraid my, as I've said before,

01:44:40.380 gall rises in me when you start using terms like white. I'm very much from the generation which 0.97

01:44:45.700 remembers the great Martin Luther King speech, so someone should be judged by the content of

01:44:50.180 his character, not the color of his skin, and I reject all classification of skin color instinctively.

01:44:54.780 I'm still very much a one race, the human race person. I've still, I've not in any way shaken

01:45:00.720 off that aspect of my left-wing youth i hope i never shall it happens to be based on the christian

01:45:05.500 gospels as well even peter hitchens is an mlk liberal boomer yeah like this it's just incredible

01:45:14.540 isn't it like of all the things he could have said then of all of the things he could have said

01:45:20.680 he's like no i am still a liberal yeah it's like okay well okay i mean

01:45:28.140 and and and when somebody who has written so perfectly so eloquently and so brilliantly

01:45:36.220 about the list of problems that british has can't see this and just doesn't care about the

01:45:43.040 and and doesn't and doesn't acknowledge that it would be an issue regardless he seems to accept

01:45:49.040 to the the the demographic predictions are true but but can't recognize it as a problem i mean

01:45:54.520 You can see why there was such...

01:45:56.060 It's not that he can't recognise it.

01:45:57.240 He definitely does recognise it,

01:45:58.660 which is why he's so upset

01:45:59.580 by the allegation

01:46:00.460 that he supports Russell Britain, right?

01:46:01.680 He recognised it.

01:46:02.700 It's morally impermissible.

01:46:05.500 It's not that something can be done.

01:46:07.160 Something may not be done

01:46:08.460 or else you, Charlie Downs, 0.65

01:46:09.980 are a Nazi, right? 0.51

01:46:11.220 That's what the Nazis did. 0.89

01:46:12.360 The Nazis recognised 0.60

01:46:13.320 there were different kinds of people 1.00

01:46:14.380 and therefore anyone who does that

01:46:16.620 is themselves a Nazi.

01:46:18.140 Even Peter Hitchens is there. 0.64

01:46:19.560 But look, this does give us

01:46:20.960 a genuine problem, right?

01:46:23.360 Because...

01:46:23.800 Yes.

01:46:24.520 yeah restore britain exists to win elections yes you're not winning an election anytime soon 0.97

01:46:29.840 without the boomers and but there is a a genuine mismatch between the people who are the activists

01:46:38.720 of restore are doing it essentially for a a new generational settlement and that is just

01:46:46.260 incompatible with the majority of boomers now i've you know we have got rupert lowe and i've

01:46:51.060 called him before boomer jesus because he kind of he kind of gets this he put out a video the

01:46:56.240 other day saying no we need to secure the demographics of the white british yes yes

01:46:59.960 absolutely and and and even in that first launch video he talked about the the demographic unfairness

01:47:04.720 he he's very much on top of this um but trying to attract boomers i mean we i mean you've had

01:47:14.100 a couple of examples up already well this is why it's oil and water this this is why we're making

01:47:19.840 this video yeah it's because the beliefs of the boomer generation are anachronistic they're out

01:47:26.400 of time they don't make sense now right the the kids in the schools now and i know this from my 0.73

01:47:32.120 own kids yeah are racialists right yeah the kids recognize those are the arrow of the the muslims

01:47:38.940 those are the blacks those are the chinese and we are the whites that's how the kids in school

01:47:44.320 right now it sounds like a u.s prison yeah it is and the world has changed yeah the one i'm still

01:47:52.240 very much of the one race the human race person that's just been proven not to be the truth and

01:47:56.900 whether it's biological or cultural or whatever it doesn't matter the fact is in reality in practice

01:48:02.780 people self-organize based on ethnicity yes so you can act like this isn't something that's 1.00

01:48:10.620 happening but it has happened and the zoomers are the ones screeching you please at least recognize 0.99

01:48:15.420 our reality and that's all they're saying and what's peter hitchens say flee 0.96

01:48:21.160 right flee for your lives so he's he's not against people leaving the country but he just

01:48:28.660 wants them to be british people remigration but for british people right if you're a young british 0.96

01:48:33.560 person the british youth that should emigrate who shouldn't be emigrated the foreigners we can't do 1.00

01:48:38.720 anything about them they're here forever they're the inheritors of britain so so what if if we want 1.00

01:48:44.400 to continue as a people we have to become a dysporia for 2 000 years traveling the world

01:48:49.020 getting persecuted and then eventually at some point we can get our own country 1.00

01:48:52.160 what why do we just keep the one we've already got great question because the the boomer libtard 0.80

01:48:57.500 mind believes in martin luther king a an american communist an open race activist for black people 0.62

01:49:04.480 who's like oh i've he had one line in one speech and it one-shotted the lot of them yeah mlk was

01:49:10.300 a communist he's he's got loads of other writings propped up by the u.s government for yeah where

01:49:16.080 he talks about radical um race redistribution and all this sort of stuff he's not like some 0.95

01:49:22.080 libtard who's like yeah we should forget the past and then just be one people he doesn't think like 0.95

01:49:25.860 this this is what i need to say to you right now in order to get you to give me your stuff and 0.95

01:49:29.900 that's exactly what that speech but what do we do about this carl because well just before we go on

01:49:36.180 um so who is actually to hitchens right um john cleese yeah yeah generation x yeah silent

01:49:45.820 generation and the greatest generation do you remember this hundred year old war veteran

01:49:51.280 who oh yeah he went on they shut him up quick didn't they bloody well did

01:49:55.540 where he said you know world war ii wasn't worth it yeah because the state of the country today he

01:50:00.160 was thinking in terms that we're thinking john cleese has come out as rupert lowe's strongest

01:50:05.060 bloody soldier he's silent generation he is silent generation he's he's older than the booths and

01:50:12.260 he's come out far to the right of peter bloody hitchens but peter hitchens no no no no i've got 0.58

01:50:19.300 my i've got my liberal ideals of the boomers and nothing can be done flee the country yeah no fix 0.70

01:50:24.660 denethor yeah it's literally the boomers who have to and the reason we're doing all of this

01:50:28.560 is the boomers just have to understand that recognizing some people are different to other

01:50:34.180 people does not mean death camps yeah it doesn't mean nazism it doesn't mean we're just it doesn't

01:50:39.480 mean we're gonna like turn the the foreigners and slaves or anything less it just means we

01:50:44.660 understand that there have to be limits to the amount of immigration we can have and if boris 0.65

01:50:48.660 johnson betrays us setting a bar if boris johnson betrays us all by bringing in an infinite number 0.72

01:50:54.240 of foreigners it's okay to tell those people who've been here for five minutes no you've got

01:50:58.900 to go home now you weren't supposed to be here this was undemocratic you we can't have you 1.00

01:51:03.440 ruining the prospects of our children through mass immigration and i'm sure they'll be like well to 1.00

01:51:07.520 be honest i wouldn't want that in my country i think like four days ago pakistan just ejected 1.00

01:51:12.400 a vast amount of afghans yes they had two million it can it was about last year i think okay but 1.00

01:51:17.080 i think they've done another try they're doing more yeah yeah it began last year you can see

01:51:22.040 you can just do this yeah i mean it's happened to the british happened to the british and indian

01:51:25.840 through the 20th century yes mass population transfers like i said we're not suggesting

01:51:29.660 anything horrible happening to them yes i'm happy to pay for whatever you need to pay for but when

01:51:34.900 but when you perceive absolutely every political question through the prism of world war ii

01:51:41.700 you think oh it must be it must be a gas chamber then it's the only thing that it could be because

01:51:47.220 that was the thing that happened in world war ii and therefore that is the total range of permissible

01:51:51.800 ways to think about it no no we're just we're just we're just going to do what every other

01:51:56.180 country's done and has done for centuries exactly and just to be clear we're as aware of world war 1.00

01:52:00.060 two as you are as well it's just that the situation has changed and the zoomers are 1.00

01:52:05.860 justified in their objections and the cultural capital has been dissolved 1.00
