00:00:00.040 Hi everybody, this is Gadsad. It has been three weeks and one day since this beauty
00:00:10.560 was released into the world on May 10th and the reception so far has been
00:00:17.160 absolutely incredible. It was instant number one on Audible. It was instant
00:00:26.520 number one the Globe and Mail both categories hardcover and combined category meaning hardcover
00:00:33.400 and ebooks at Globe and Mail which is super woke in Canada number one Toronto Star instant number
00:00:39.600 one Publishers Weekly instant and perhaps most prestigiously instant number one New York Times
00:00:48.940 bestseller both in the hardcover non-fiction category and the combined non-fiction category
00:00:56.420 and last week it remained on all of the bestseller lists and now we'll see this week what happens
00:01:02.360 but all indications are that the same pattern will repeat so globally from from any possible
00:01:09.320 perspective any metric it's about as good as it could be number one in everything everywhere
00:01:15.300 and that's great i've received tons of wonderful emails from people and so on but today what i'd
00:01:21.400 like to do which maybe I shouldn't be doing is spend some time on some of the unhinged vitriol
00:01:27.860 that I have received oftentimes from coming from sources in academia because now this is something
00:01:36.640 that they simply can't bear to stomach right because that which they certainly can't do right 0.69
00:01:44.100 As long as they can write in their peer review journal to six people and engage in the proverbial, I don't like the term, but circle jerk, then everything is good.
00:01:55.760 But now when this guy that doesn't meet their style of liberal progressive lisp, I don't cross my legs in the effeminate way that they do, that really triggers their ire.
00:02:12.580 And so I've been seeing some unbelievable nastiness coming my way, but I have to say, while I've tried to stay classy about it and not shove it in their face, the importance of getting that instant number one New York Times bestseller was truly powerful.
00:02:36.200 because after 32 years fighting against all of the current that was against me right I mean
00:02:45.300 when I first started to try to incorporate evolutionary psychology within the behavioral
00:02:52.060 sciences in general and in consumer behavior in particular in the business school everybody said
00:02:56.600 that's a that's that's a suicide of your career nobody does biology that what is that don't do
00:03:02.700 it. You're going to fail. I said, I don't care. I'm going to do it. And then I published all of
00:03:08.760 the pioneering papers and the pioneering books. This one right here, the first academic book
00:03:13.820 in the field that I founded, Evolutionary Consumption. Then this was the first edited
00:03:20.720 book linking evolutionary psychology in the business sciences. Then this one right here,
00:03:27.160 Consuming Instinct was the first, you know, popular book that really laid the foundation
00:03:35.260 to a trade audience, to a trade book audience, to a general audience, the field of evolutionary
00:03:40.180 consumption, then of course, Parasitic Mind, then the Happiness book, now the Suicidal Empathy,
00:03:45.820 and of course, all of the other academic papers. My point is that I really feel like
00:03:53.140 vindicated at this point not so much because i needed the approval of data boy from new york
00:04:00.160 times because now you you just you you couldn't have cooked it you couldn't have kept me off it
00:04:06.260 the the the the the size of the sales and the the virality of uh the book was so powerful globally
00:04:16.960 that it debuted as an instant number one New York Times bestseller.
00:04:22.140 Thank you to all those who've been talking about my book,
00:04:25.960 who've been posting reviews, who've been writing stuff about it.
00:04:31.420 It really does help.
00:04:32.840 And again, I urge you, it really is important to keep the momentum going.
00:04:37.700 This is not about making the money.
00:04:39.340 It's about really trying to spread the ideas that are going to inoculate people against the parasitic suicidal empathy that has gripped the West.
00:04:52.640 So please consider purchasing one or more copies if you haven't done so already.
00:04:58.000 Post Amazon reviews, share information about the book, discuss it with others, and let's keep the momentum going.
00:05:06.480 Thank you all, and until next time, I'll talk to you soon.
00:05:09.900 Cheers.
