00:09:25.060 the cbc here an rcmp officer i'm going to skim through this because this story is not necessarily

00:09:35.160 the story that i'm about to drop on you but this just gives some background to these two guys

00:09:39.820 an rcmp officer and a retired vancouver cop say not even police are safe from high-tech spyware

00:09:47.040 The Paraledge RCMP used phone hacking technology on them as witnesses in this ongoing foreign interference case.

00:09:56.060 So let's scroll down here.

00:09:59.940 There's retired Vancouver police officer Paul McNamara.

00:10:03.760 So Paul McNamara was out with his family in August of 2023 when he had a phone conversation with a friend, Ontario RCMP officer Pete Merrifield.

00:10:15.820 As he talked, he noticed his phone became unusually hot, like it was about to melt down.

00:10:21.140 At the time, McNamara, who retired from the Vancouver Police Department in 2016,

00:10:25.600 was on vacation in Montreal.

00:10:28.180 When he tried to order an Uber, he says his phone was locked due to too many password attempts.

00:10:34.840 He found it odd, but brushed it off as a glitch.

00:10:37.580 Then that fall, he learned the National Police Force had used controversial spyware called an on-device investigative tool, an ODIT, to remotely hack into his and Merrifield's phones.

00:10:52.360 This was revealed thanks to evidence in an ongoing court case involving another former RCMP officer where McNamara and Merrifield were witnesses.

00:11:00.600 McNamara says audits allow police to read messages on a person's phone in real time,

00:11:06.220 even on encrypted apps like Signal.

00:11:08.780 But two-step authentication can still otherwise block access to data on certain apps

00:11:13.660 that would require police to know the person's password.

00:11:16.880 Well, concerns from privacy advocates and human rights groups have focused on these tools being used

00:11:22.100 to spy on journalists and other citizens.

00:11:25.060 In this case, spyware was used on a current and former police officer

00:11:28.820 who say they were only ever told they were witnesses, not suspects, in a foreign interference case.

00:22:20.920 with Mr. Tanike. So it was the story about these buttons that were circulating at this conference.

00:22:25.860 So here's a picture here. And there was ones that said, stop the steal, make Canada great again,

00:22:33.300 free Alberta. There was these buttons that were circulating and they made it into mainstream news

00:22:39.220 articles like the Globe and Mail, like I just quoted. So it was this narrative that was coming

00:22:44.660 out that all of a sudden, you know, Pierre Polyev is doing like American style politics. But guess

00:22:50.860 That's what just happened, guys, because Pierre Poliev has been putting Canada first with

00:22:55.420 a Canada first plan, right?

01:14:39.200 U-boats that were then sent to Argentina.

01:14:41.620 In other words, Hitler lived for nearly two decades more in Argentina

01:14:47.080 Well, now Argentinian President Javier Millier has just ordered the release of all remaining documents on all of those Nazis who fled Germany and moved to Argentina after World War II.
