00:07:37.000 States. Dr. Peter Navarro received his PhD in economics from Harvard University and is a

00:07:44.520 professor emeritus of economics and public policy at the University of California, Irvine. He was

00:07:51.140 an economic and trade advisor for President Donald J. Trump during the 2016 presidential

00:07:56.000 campaign and joined the White House staff on Inauguration Day. At the White House, Dr. Navarro

00:08:00.740 is the director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, an office established

00:08:04.860 by President Trump to defend and serve American workers and domestic manufacturers. Okay, so

00:08:10.320 he's, I mean, we could go on with this. There's a lot behind this guy's name. He's got a very

00:08:17.840 long resume. He's very knowledgeable in the world of economics and trade. He was not directly

00:08:23.820 involved in the latest round of talks between the U.S. and Canada, but he was involved very,

00:08:30.300 very closely advising Ambassador Jamison Greer, the U.S. trade representative,

00:08:36.320 right alongside Howard Lutnick and all of the other Americans who were involved in the

00:08:40.720 negotiations he sat down with cnbc today i think that's what why don't cnbc cnbc let me see are we

00:08:48.900 in a trade war with c-span he sat down with c-span today and this is seven minutes and i don't

00:08:58.360 usually play clips as long as this but you guys need to hear every single bit of this interview

00:09:05.640 He pretty much spills the beans on everything that happened and what Carney and his minions are doing to try to gain political points, at the same time helping, you know, the new world order.

00:09:48.020 Because back when President Trump won the election in November, I was tasked with Wilbur

00:09:54.740 Ross, who would become the Commerce Secretary, of renegotiating NAFTA, which would eventually

00:10:08.500 The negotiators for Canada were essentially just backstabbing, double-dealing people that

00:10:30.920 when we negotiated NAFTA with the Canadians, they just ran circles around us. They played

00:10:37.760 chess, we played checkers. They built in a number of really strong provisions that really

00:10:43.640 harmed America and I think from that point they've always believed that

00:10:49.880 they're better negotiators smarter negotiators this deal blew up for only

00:10:57.240 one reason politics across our border we gave them a deal which which I'll be

00:11:05.300 honest made me uncomfortable because it was it was a good deal it was it was as

00:11:11.720 good a deal as Canada was going to get.

00:11:15.440 We negotiated a very good deal, but it was like, there's no way economically they should

00:11:23.120 have turned it down, but Carney's rule here, Mark Carney, who leads Canada into the toilet

00:11:30.400 as it were, Carney's rule seems to be that for every additional political point he can

00:11:37.380 rise in the polls, trashing Donald Trump, his economy goes down by several more points.

00:11:44.660 And that's the ugly problem we're in.

00:11:48.480 And then he's got his like German shepherd kind of egging him on in Doug Ford.

00:11:55.540 And both of these gentlemen don't understand they've got a glass jaw.

00:11:59.520 I mean, our economy is so much bigger than Canada's that they need us more than we need them.

00:12:24.140 So, the whole issue arose from what's called a Section 338 action against Canada.

00:12:37.600 338 gives the United States Trade Representative the power to impose tariffs where another

00:12:45.260 country discriminates against the United States with respect to how it treats us.

00:12:51.260 In other words, if Canada is doing something to everybody in the rest of the world, 338

00:12:57.180 doesn't apply, but if it's just singling us out.

00:13:00.720 So in the case of the 338, we've clearly got a major dairy problem with Canada.

00:13:10.320 They've got triple digit tariffs on our dairy folks and try as we might, dating back to

00:13:17.360 the first Trump term. They just are unrepentant. They just stick it, stick it to us. So that's

00:13:24.180 number one. Number two, they've completely cut off alcoholic beverages for sale in their

00:13:31.340 stores, which is, which is unbelievable. You can't go into a store in the provinces and

00:13:37.580 buy a Kentucky bourbon. It just, they're doing that. And what's, what's so interesting about

00:13:43.120 that and what they do on autos, is as they're kind of screwing us, they're getting into bed 0.94

00:13:49.460 with the Europeans, the Japanese, the Koreans, and particularly the Chinese, and giving them

00:13:54.720 much more favorable terms. So this was untenable for President Trump. We are the party and the

00:14:03.820 people of protecting American jobs for blue-collar factory workers and our farmers and ranchers.

00:14:10.980 And so that's how this got started. So negotiations ensued. There was a there was a pretty big omnibus deal that was going to give them really favorable terms in terms of aluminum and steel, which we have another Section 232 on.

00:14:28.860 And that's like our bread and butter here. And I just want folks listening here at C-SPAN to understand that this is not a partisan issue here in this country. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue.

00:14:42.740 This is simply an issue of protecting our workers, our ranchers, and our farmers.

00:14:49.600 And Canada has really been exploiting us, exploiting USMCA, not negotiating in good faith.

00:14:58.680 And Carney, I mean, the worst thing that ever happened to Canada was when Carney made a come-from-behind victory.

00:15:07.120 He was down, I don't know, 30 points, and then he started his Trump derangement syndrome rhetoric.

00:15:12.200 and surge to win and somehow every time Carney dumps on Trump the Canadian people reward him

00:15:20.240 with political support. I've said this repeatedly I'm speaking right around to the Canadian people

00:15:26.260 I know a lot of them watch these band you can't you can't encourage Carney and especially Doug

00:15:33.640 Ford to dump on the United States when we are trying our best to have a fair deal with you all

00:15:41.700 And you're just playing politics with somebody in a country which is far stronger economically than you are.

00:18:36.160 interesting that Breitbart News put out today. And they say Democrats appear to be colluding

00:18:42.280 with Canada's anti-Trump government. So I'm not sure if this is a directive from the Trump White

00:18:47.240 House to get this narrative going in the United States. Maybe it is, maybe it's not,

00:18:51.800 because we heard the same kind of thing last night from the guy from the blaze there, Glenn Beck.

00:18:57.520 Mark Carney, and he's talking, and a lot of them are talking too, Promethean Updates are talking

00:19:03.340 about this as well. Mark Carney appointed a longtime Democrat political operative to a

00:19:08.620 newly created senior position in his government, the latest in a long history between prominent

00:19:14.480 Democrats colluding with the country's leader to oppose the Trump administration. The two

00:19:19.360 countries are now embroiled in intense back and forth years in the making that threatens American

00:19:23.820 interests on trade and national security. In mid-July, Carney appointed Maya Johnson

00:19:29.460 as chief operating officer of the prime minister's office. The position is the equivalent to White

00:19:35.620 House chief of staff, and she's the first person to hold the title in the Canadian government. In

00:19:40.880 other words, Carney created this position to bring this person in. Johnson also concurrently

00:19:47.840 serves as senior special advisor for United States stakeholder strategy. Stakeholder strategy?

00:19:54.380 What does that even mean? A post she was hired to in February of this year. What makes the

00:20:01.780 arrangement unusual is as an American citizen, Johnson is forbidden from top secret security

00:20:07.240 clearance. As Carney's top deputy, it's unclear what access Johnson receives to classified or

00:20:13.240 secure materials. So the Carney liberals yelling and screaming at Pierre Polly, get your clearance,

00:20:19.760 get your clearance. But Carney's own chief of staff is American. And by virtue of that,

00:20:25.820 she can't have one. Whoa. And I'll tell you what, the chief of staff is very involved in

00:20:33.720 the prime minister's agenda on all things, not just an office administrator. That's insane.

00:20:43.240 What makes the arrangement unusual?

00:20:45.420 She's an American citizen.

00:20:47.000 As Carney's top deputy, it's unclear what access Johnson receives to classified or secure

00:21:31.540 though, contribute to the campaign via Act Blue. Johnson's ties to Bloomberg serve as a throughway

00:21:39.520 to Carney and the web of Democrats who enjoy access to the prime minister. As UN Special Envoy

00:21:45.240 on Climate Action and Finance, Carney focused on developing tools, guidance and products for

00:21:50.220 investors that will combine positive social and environmental outcomes with strong risk adjusted

00:21:55.640 returns, according to a biography from the World Bank. Carney served in the position beginning in

00:22:01.280 2019 following stints as the governor of bank of england and the governor of the bank of canada

00:22:06.240 in his un role carney co-chaired the glasgow financial alliance for net zero g fonts and

00:22:12.520 johnson provided him with research and support the g fonts was founded in 2020 with bloomberg

00:22:18.300 as co-chair the former new york city mayor now serves as its chairman when johnson joined the

00:22:25.220 canadian government her portfolio focused as u.s stakeholder strategy and canadian u.s relations

00:22:31.660 Carney and Canada's Liberal Party has hosted a number of establishment Democrats.

00:22:36.400 Alex Soros has made visits to Canada twice, just this year,

00:22:40.160 while former President Barack Obama gave a speech at the Canada 2020 Gala in Toronto

00:22:45.740 showing Carney's success bringing them to Canada to strategize against President Trump.

00:22:51.820 Another connection between Washington Democrats and Carney is Gerald Butts.

00:22:56.260 the former political advisor and strategist to justin trudeau he is well known in canada as the

00:23:03.080 architect of liberals climate and net zero policies making him a natural ally of carney

00:23:09.220 butts presently works with prime minister carney's wife diana fox carney at eurasia group where they

00:23:15.220 both hold titles of senior advisor according to public records eurasia group received multiple

00:23:20.800 consulting contracts from the Canadian government between 2011 and 2024. Carney and Butts also

00:23:27.860 hold significant ties to John Podesta, the longtime Democrat power broker dating back

00:23:36.100 to the Clinton administration, where he served as White House chief of staff. Podesta chaired

00:23:40.220 the Hillary campaign in 2016 and would later serve in multiple climate-related roles in the

00:23:46.700 Biden administration, also wrapped up in Pizzagate, if you'll recall.

00:23:51.820 Hillary Clinton was a featured speaker at the Canada 2020 conference in 2014, an event

00:23:56.960 that also served as a fundraiser for the Liberal Party of Canada.

00:24:01.400 In 2017, another Canada 2020 conference reportedly doubled as a fundraiser for Trudeau and featured

00:24:09.820 Matt Tobe, a former speechwriter for Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, told the New

00:24:25.960 facilitate a private meeting involving Carney, Obama, and Soros at the former president's

00:24:36.800 in Nova Scotia. That meeting included federal industry minister Melanie Jolie, Soros, and his

00:24:42.100 wife, Huma Abedin, a longtime Hillary Clinton loyalist, and Frank McKenna, who currently serves

00:24:48.220 as deputy chair of TD Bank Group and chair of Brookfield Asset Management.

00:26:11.680 not anymore. They feel entitled and yet we don't need Canada. They need us. They do 95% of their

00:26:19.920 business with the US, with us, the exact opposite. Now it's not 95, it's 75. The Canadian government's

00:26:27.400 intransigence has major implications for the November midterms. At minimum, the prime minister's

00:26:33.220 office must be forthcoming with Johnson's role and what meetings Carney is taking with Democrats

00:26:38.440 in attempts to weaken President Trump's negotiating power, in effect, subverting

00:26:43.240 the federal government. Whoa, that's crazy. Anthony Housefather is a liberal MP. Let me see
