00:29:38.480 are busily lecturing ordinary Americans about how to live, what to drive, and even what to eat,

00:29:45.100 all while flying in on private jets and being chauffeured around town in gas-guzzling SUVs.

00:29:50.920 I threw in the gas-guzzling myself. As they pontificate from podiums and plush panels about

00:29:56.120 reducing carbon footprints, they conveniently ignore their own outsized ones. Climate Week is

00:30:02.120 rehashing the same tired, failed schemes of the climate movement, branded this year with an age

00:30:07.860 of urgency, perhaps in recognition that their ideas still don't work. Despite the ramped up

00:30:14.540 doomsday rhetoric, our environment is thriving, and this is the best time in human history to

00:30:19.280 be alive, except for, you know, them. If you're looking for someone to blame for inflation,

00:30:25.740 start with the devotees of Climate Week. Their anti-fossil fuel proposals have resulted in higher

00:30:32.160 energy prices, which increase the cost of, well, everything. Add to that the tax burden of the

00:30:38.140 hundreds of billions spent on renewable energy subsidies, which have barely moved the needle on

00:30:42.480 our energy landscape, and pressure from the ESG movement, which bullies businesses into adopting

00:30:48.580 climate initiatives or risk debanking. Yes, that's right, debanking. Yet for all that investment,

00:30:54.900 and all that cost increase wind and solar power still represent just five percent of the nation's

00:31:01.060 energy production. Despite the left's best efforts, wind and solar are largely failed

00:31:06.760 technologies. They work all right when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining, but

00:31:10.860 weather conditions are notoriously difficult to predict and rarely track

00:31:14.920 with electricity needs. No matter how many industrial wind farms and solar panels we build,

00:31:20.720 those systems rely on fossil fuels to keep the lights on. Imagine for a moment that climate

00:31:26.600 activists achieved their goal and somehow managed to delete every drop of oil and gas and vanish

00:31:32.220 every lump of coal nationwide. First, of course, it would destroy society and send us back to the

00:31:39.280 Middle Ages, as Venezuelans found out firsthand when week-long blackouts struck their once

00:31:44.480 prosperous nation after their oil industry collapsed. But what would happen to our dangerously

00:31:50.840 warming climate? Nothing. According to the same data models, climate radicals misused to claim

00:31:58.660 the sky is falling. A total U.S. ban on fossil fuels would shift global temperatures by a few

00:32:03.500 hundredths of a degree at most. These models have significantly overestimated warming every time,

00:32:10.060 so even that may be a stretch.

00:32:13.200 Even if the whole world participated in the disappearance of fossil fuels,
