00:13:19.420email or group. Let's get this ball rolling. Welcome to the show, Benita Peterson in West
00:13:26.260Lock, Alberta. Benita, thank you for coming on tonight. I know you had a couple of other
00:13:30.560places to be tonight or could have been, but you chose to come on my show and talk to the
00:13:35.020people. So thank you very much. And I want to talk obviously about the campaign that
00:13:40.440you were one of the people who spearheaded the big plebiscite in West Lock a couple of
00:13:45.160weeks ago the neutrality bylaw as they're calling it but i wanted to ask you there's a troll in our
00:13:51.280comments tonight do you know this person what's the name i missed it uh doty or something or other
00:13:58.120i mean somebody was criticizing you on on the on the promotion post i put up on facebook this
00:14:03.400afternoon yeah that was a gabby and i don't know gabby either somebody was saying that uh that you
00:14:10.980made kids wear masks a few years ago during a christmas thing with santa claus what happened
00:14:16.860with that well actually in late 2020 we were still under the covet rules in my town of westlock
00:14:25.700alberta and what i sensed was a lot of pain in the kids like the kids were hurting because we
00:14:31.460weren't having those socializing activities and i love kids i have a background as an entertainer
00:14:37.080So I organized Santa photos in December of 2020, as well as a whole bunch of other wonderful
00:14:43.160community activities. And yet I obeyed the COVID rules. So I figured out ways to obey the COVID
00:14:49.020rules yet have fun. And sometimes I was making fun of the COVID rules. And so I made a promotion
00:14:54.920about the Santa photos. And in it, I did say, make sure you wear your masks. So I did say that in
00:15:00.740December 2020 during the promotion. But when the people actually showed up to the photos,
00:15:06.400if they were not wearing a mask i did not hassle them at all okay so this is interesting because
00:15:13.320you told me a little bit earlier this afternoon that at that point you weren't fully awake yet
00:15:19.880what what happened there what what was the transition from that particular you were
00:15:24.460following the rules what happened between then and the time you woke up because i do remember
00:15:28.820you being at the Freedom Convoy? Yes, I woke up in January of 2021. And January 2021 was actually
00:15:37.420a really, really rough time for me. Waking up was very painful. Because previous to that,
00:15:43.840in the fall of 2020, I basically had it in my mindset that we just have to get through this
00:15:49.900till it ends, right? Like we just have to figure out how to get through this till it ends. And
00:15:53.980there were all these unreasonable restrictions. And yet I figured out how to have fun with kids
00:15:59.340at Halloween. I figured out how to have a good Remembrance Day service, even though we weren't
00:16:04.700allowed to have the regular Remembrance Day service. I brought my sound system out and I
00:16:10.740froze my fingers so I can amplify an outdoor Remembrance Day service and people could listen
00:16:15.280to the service from their cards. I figured out Christmas. We had a reverse parade at Christmas
00:16:20.160and a town-wide light up and we had dancing mascots for kids at multiple events. So I figured
00:16:25.340out all kinds of ways to raise spirit and yet obey the COVID restrictions. And in my head,
00:16:30.800I was saying to myself, we just got to get through this till it ends. We got to get through this till
00:16:34.620it ends. We got to weather this, right? Keep our spirits up. We can do this. So January 2021 is when
00:16:40.080I woke up and it was like hitting a wall. Like I actually went through a period of depression
00:16:46.120in January 2021 because I realized it's not ending it is not ending and all these restrictions that
00:16:52.580keep piling them on and it felt overwhelming and unstoppable and it just it felt like this
00:16:59.020juggernaut that's coming at us and it's unstoppable so I hit the wall in January 2021 and my energy
00:17:04.920went just like that believe it or not but then I learned about a wonderful lady in southern Alberta
00:17:12.820with a barber shop and i learned about a gentleman in mirror alberta with a coffee shop and i realized
00:17:19.300hey these people are pushing back against the restrictions i can push back too and so the end
00:17:24.640of january early february is when i like in a sense had my full wake up as in i realized there's
00:17:30.940things we the people can do to push back so february 4th 2021 is when i'm dedicated to the
00:17:37.100freedom movement so you you woke up because you saw other people pushing back and that's cool
00:17:42.780But did you see flaws in what the government was doing and the things they were saying to us, all these ridiculous scientists going on television saying, oh, you know, you got to get the vaccine.
00:17:53.020You got it six feet apart. And, you know, for me, it was like when I first heard those people saying this, the first thing for me that made me laugh was two weeks to flatten the curve.
00:18:02.080Like, what are you even talking about? Two weeks to flat? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
01:04:02.080When we do have these rainbow crosswalks and all of these ridiculous flags flying everywhere you look,
01:04:08.880I mean, it's basically a campaign to silence anybody who doesn't agree with them.
01:04:15.020And that is divisive. That's not inclusive.
01:04:18.660If everything were inclusive, then we wouldn't need the flags.
01:04:23.640Then we wouldn't need the sidewalks, the crosswalks, and all of that stuff.
01:04:28.160it would just be hey man if you want to wear a dress and identify as a woman that's fine but
01:04:33.940don't force me to call you ma'am because i know better than that and i'm not going to bow down
01:04:39.540to your psychosis and also stay away from my children other than that go and enjoy your life
01:04:46.160buddy have yourself a great time i don't care it just doesn't matter and that's the way i've always
01:04:52.540been with it and i think most people are kind of like that too look man float your boat whatever
01:04:57.120I don't care. It's your life. Just don't make me pay for your ridiculous surgery that never will
01:05:02.360work and the medications you're going to need for the rest of your life. Stay away from my kids and1.00
01:05:07.320keep the rainbows off the sidewalks. Is that unreasonable? Really? Does that make me a hateful
01:05:13.960bigot? Well, I'm mostly in agree with you, Shadow. I mostly agree. But I guess where I come from is
01:05:21.420i'm an entertainer and no matter what audience that i would do music for i love them all right
01:05:28.760even the typical people even the quirky people and so i hosted karaoke once where someone who's
01:05:35.160clearly a man uh is wearing lipstick and a dress and he signs up as rose and he proceeds to attempt
01:05:41.580to sing girl songs and so i just allowed it i'm like everybody here's rose yeah and that's fine
01:05:48.340as long as rose isn't walking into the women's bathroom later on if my girlfriend or wife is in
01:05:53.600there right i mean that that's just to me that's a bridge too far and i have i have a problem with
01:05:59.680it yeah right so what i'm trying to say like and i learned this actually from stephanie baker and
01:06:04.380the neutrality team is if like i understand where you're coming from and i understand everybody
01:06:08.860who's got these very strong views like i get it i get it but what i'm sensing is that the the
01:06:15.040trans it's here to stay okay and so we my preference would be we figure out how to um
01:06:26.720how to live in peace without having them impose their agenda on us but without us necessarily
01:06:33.840imposing on them like some way of just allowing everybody to coexist so does that mean every
01:06:39.600public facility needs a third bathroom is that what that means so that there's now a bathroom0.58
01:06:44.000for trans maybe that's the solution so that the the trans individual either bathroom they walk
01:06:51.360into maybe they're going to have a conflict right so you know what i'm saying like we i'm not saying
01:06:58.640i want to bend over completely backwards and accommodate but i'm saying maybe we could like
01:07:03.280accommodate like this much and when danielle smith delivered her remarks january 31st and then the um
01:07:10.640the leftists like the rainbow people got very upset about that I actually went to one of their
01:07:19.980protests and I integrated with the protest and by the way that's thing we need to do I have all
01:07:25.740these different things going on and one is called operation integration so I look forward to teaching
01:07:29.800that to people so I went to the protest and I carried a sign and on one side it said I accept
01:07:34.900you as you are and on the other side it says I care about you and so I said to people what do
01:07:38.840you think of my side and they said oh I like it and so I'm talking to people with rainbow hair
01:07:43.400etc and I said did you know that these are words from premier Daniel Smith and she said these to
01:07:48.880the transgender community of Alberta in her speech last Wednesday and that's what I said and they're
01:07:53.440like what because as soon as I say the word Daniel Smith that's a trigger word they don't like her1.00
01:07:57.540and so I said and did you know in her speech that she promised to bring at least one transgender0.78
01:08:03.860transgender surgeon to Alberta to do transgender surgeries for adults, not kids, and provide
01:08:12.340aftercare. Did you know that? And they're like, no, because of course, they didn't actually listen
01:08:17.640to her remarks. They just hate her because they're told to hate her. And so we just got to keep
01:08:22.480challenging them. Let's keep on challenging them. And let's meet them in the middle, wherever that
01:08:28.020is. Let's figure out where that is. And I think Daniel Smith found it. What about sports?
01:08:32.540oh yeah daniel smith also stated it's not appropriate for biological men to compete1.00
01:08:38.720with women it's not safe and i agree with that as well for the safety of the females
01:08:44.020and even just the competitive right because the guy would always be winning1.00
01:08:47.480well yeah i mean we've seen example after example of that but then what do we do about that do we0.98
01:08:54.060create a third division the trans division or do we need two trans divisions because there's women
01:08:59.680who have trans to men and then there's men who have trans to women so that would be a problem
01:09:06.880too right if you've you're a man but you've trans to women and you're still taking on a woman who's0.98
01:09:11.860trans to a man but you're in the trans division you're still going to beat the crap out of her
01:09:15.840if it's anything to do with strength and we probably shouldn't have that um in competitive1.00
01:09:21.500sports because people get hurt anyway just a thought there but uh yeah there have to be
01:09:27.140boundaries yeah we're gonna have to leave it at that is there anything that we missed tonight you
01:09:31.240want to get a website out there i see you've got your phone number up on the screen yeah people
01:09:35.700can call text me um i guess mainly what i wanted to talk about is making change at a municipal level
01:09:40.920so if you even want to change one policy bylaw resolution at a municipal level so it might have
01:09:46.600to do with a rainbow crosswalk but maybe it has something to do with something else i have the
01:09:50.840strategies for you. And I share strategies once a month at a meeting. And the way to get to that
01:09:59.700is tinyurl.com slash conservatizing. It's on the 27th of every month at 7pm Alberta time. But people
01:10:06.760from across Canada are welcome to join us. And we share strategies for influencing policymakers and
01:10:13.860replacing them. And we have different guest speakers every month. Actually, Ken Drysdale
01:10:18.460is our one of our guest speakers march 27th you got ken excellent yeah he's uh he's a good guy
01:10:24.440manitobastrongertogether.ca and of course commissioner for the national citizens inquiry
01:10:29.300you know i had a message on the promo post i made on facebook this afternoon uh and i was talking
01:10:36.240about you and and what you and your team had accomplished there in in westlock and this woman
01:10:41.120said wow shadow this is absolutely amazing what they did there sadly it'll never happen here in
01:10:47.100Ontario and I said it starts with one person right so do you have any words of encouragement
01:10:55.920for that that person who's probably watching um so I have another resource tinyurl.com
01:11:03.180slash team conservatize so let's pretend that you feel like you're the only one in your community
01:11:08.540with your values you don't have a team yet just like shadow says it can start with one and we can
01:11:13.420very easily build you a team. And what I would love to do is be of service as an advisor. So I
01:11:19.660don't necessarily want to lead your team, but I could help guide you. And I've got all like I've
01:11:24.600got just lists and lists and lists of things you can do if you're looking to make a difference
01:11:29.480somehow. One of the things I'd like to illustrate about the Westlock success is that the actual
01:11:35.140plebiscite went from early August until mid-September. That's when the actual, sorry,
01:11:42.860I meant to say the actual petition signature collection time. You only have a 60-day window
01:11:47.180to collect the signatures you need. But in early June, the awareness campaign started, okay? I
01:11:55.260started the awareness campaign in early June. So, what I'm trying to say is if you want to have a
01:11:59.640petition on anything, you have a 60-day window to collect those signatures. So, if you actually
01:12:04.160launched it today, there's a good chance you won't get your signatures in time. You need an awareness
01:12:09.480campaign first, probably two months before, three months before, and then you launch the official
01:12:15.740petition because you only have a 60-day window. And so anyway, the point is I can give a ton of
01:12:21.480advice on that. My number's on the screen. Call me, text me. Cool. Benita, thank you for coming
01:12:26.220on. I'm going to have to get you on again. You're a pleasure to have on the show and you've got a
01:12:29.280lot of great insight to share. Thank you. And we'll talk to you again soon. Thank you, Shadow.
01:12:34.160All right, there is Benita Peterson from Westlock, Alberta, you guys, and some great stories.
01:12:40.520You know, it's interesting, I had Benita on the show, like I was saying, just after the Freedom Convoy, she was on her way back, I think on truck number two, on her way back from Ottawa to Alberta, and they had stopped in Thunder Bay for the night, and we had planned to have her on the show that night.
