00:20:09.100 into different communities across this country including in rochester new york and i want you to hear what

00:20:17.120 happened in rochester because tom holman is now telling folks in rochester that help is on the way

00:20:23.680 and this is because local police there had the audacity and i'm being facetious guys had the audacity

00:20:32.740 to say that they were going to help ice with a bust ice was having trouble during a traffic stop

00:20:39.660 rounding up some people in a van so they asked for backup the rochester police showed up helped ice so

00:20:47.000 they could make sure that the ice agents were safe and now the police there in rochester new york are

00:20:54.200 getting blasted for quote violating sanctuary city policy by assisting ice agents they had these unruly

00:21:03.640 folks that they were trying to round up police were helping fellow law enforcement the men and women in

00:21:10.940 blue of ice and yet now the police there are being scolded i mean that is so preposterous listen to this

00:21:19.260 report because boy uh this just gets you so outraged and how ridiculous politics coming in

00:21:48.180 canceled the emergency response based on what he saw from watching the body worn camera footage what is

00:21:54.020 concerning to me is despite the fact that we were called we went lights and siren um i see in the video a

00:22:02.980 total lack of urgency on the part of multiple border patrol officers at the scene smith says border patrol

00:22:09.300 should have initiated contact with those in the car but instead it was rpd the mayor says city officers

00:22:15.380 acted outside their scope the officers on the scene were verbally verbally directed the occupants

00:22:21.340 to get out of the vehicle and this is against our our policy rochester's sanctuary city resolution was passed

00:22:31.320 in 1986 and was later reaffirmed in 2017 that an rpd's general order 502 prohibits rpd from enforcing

00:22:39.880 federal immigration law but allows for certain levels of assistance only to ensure the safety

00:22:46.140 of those involved we are not to be handcuffing subjects we are not to be doing pet frisks on

00:22:52.020 subjects and we are absolutely not going to be detaining them or putting them into our cars the

00:22:58.080 circumstances surrounding why the van and its estimated eight people were stopped remain unclear but

00:23:04.140 city leaders say rpd should not have helped as they did mayoral candidate mary lupian says she

00:23:09.720 has seen the video which she says shows more than eight rpd officers threatening immigrant

00:23:14.520 construction workers inside the van at one point threatening to break the car's windows the only time

00:23:20.580 we will ever take any type of type of law enforcement action is for officer safety issues or exigent

00:23:27.320 circumstances that's an incredible thing these local authorities were helping ice and now

00:23:36.640 the police that were helping ice are getting in trouble by the politicos who are running the city
