00:00:00.000 The Stone Zone, on the Red Apple Podcast Network.

00:00:06.120 Wow, that was fast.

00:00:08.920 Yesterday, we interrupted our regular show here in the Stone Zone to bring you breaking news

00:00:14.820 that the relatively obscure Court of International Trade in New York

00:00:19.900 had ruled that President Donald Trump exceeded his authority

00:00:24.340 to impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977.

00:00:32.320 Prior to that, a U.S. District Court judge in Florida, Judge T.K. Weatherall,

00:00:38.180 had suggested that President Trump had the authority to impose tariffs under that law,

00:00:44.820 a ruling from the 1970s, but he did not issue a court order.

00:00:48.900 According to the judge, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977

00:00:54.700 gave President Trump the authority to set tariffs for reasons other than just raising revenue.

00:01:01.660 Judge Weatherall wrote that President Trump's justification for the tariffs,

00:01:06.720 both stemming the flow of illicit drugs into our country

00:01:09.900 and resolving the atrocious trade imbalances,

00:01:14.140 was sufficient to satisfy the terms originally set by Congress.

00:01:18.900 But rather than issue an order, Judge Weatherall punted the case from a federal court in South Florida

00:01:25.340 to the relatively obscure Court of International Trade in New York.

00:01:32.260 And that three-judge panel ruled late yesterday that the president had exceeded his authority

00:01:40.080 to impose tariffs on other countries under the IEPA, as it's called.

00:01:47.280 That three-judge panel at the U.S. Court of International Trade, which is an extraordinarily low-profile court,

00:01:54.220 look it up online, you see almost nothing, ruled Wednesday to set a temporary halt

00:01:59.460 in President Trump's global tariff effort that he imposed citing these emergency economic powers back on April 2nd.

00:02:08.040 You remember that? It was what he called Liberation Day.

00:02:11.560 Well, now, the president, before we were off the air yesterday,

00:02:17.100 the president had appealed that to the federal courts,

00:02:21.720 and only hours ago, a federal appeals court temporarily reinstated President Trump's tariffs

00:02:29.100 after the Court of International Trade in New York said the president had exceeded his authority

00:02:35.860 under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977.

00:02:42.240 The en banc court granted the Trump administration an immediate administrative leave less than 24 hours

00:02:50.960 after this ruling by an obscure court.

00:02:54.880 Strangely enough, one judge on the court did not participate.

00:02:59.260 The request for an immediate administrative stay is granted to the extent that the judgments

00:03:04.540 and the permanent injunctions entered by the Court of International Trade in this case

00:03:08.120 are temporarily stayed until further notice while the court considers the motion papers.

00:03:14.160 This is a smashing victory for President Donald Trump.

00:03:18.600 Once again, we see the same thing, where the courts are attempting to exceed their authority

00:03:25.020 and disrupt the executive authority granted to President Donald Trump under the U.S. Constitution

00:03:31.760 and affirmed in the last presidential election.

00:03:35.900 According to CNN, the federal court's ruling in Wednesday's injunction,

00:03:40.880 30% tariffs on China, 25% tariffs on some goods imported from Mexico and Canada,

00:03:47.000 and the 10% universal tariffs on most goods coming into the United States would have been halted.

00:03:54.840 According to CNN, the obscure ruling did not affect the 25% tariffs on autos, auto parts, steel, or aluminum,

00:04:03.920 which were subject to Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act,

00:04:09.600 a different...

00:04:10.880 ...broader trade agreement.

00:04:14.380 This is going to be an ongoing issue, folks, in which liberal Democrat jurists,

00:04:20.300 who are anything but apolitical, on the federal courts seek to undo the results of the last election.

00:04:27.900 President Donald Trump has no choice but to quickly appeal these demented and baseless rulings,

00:04:35.720 with, of course, the final backstop being the U.S. Supreme Court.

00:04:41.440 We saw this previously, when the courts ruled that President Donald Trump did not have the constitutional authority

00:04:48.480 to deport illegal immigrant gang members with criminal records from the United States, as well as all illegals. 0.91

00:04:58.460 We went through this same rigmarole, but with the U.S. Supreme Court finally ruling that Trump did have that authority

00:05:07.420 so that deportations of dangerous criminals could then proceed.

00:05:12.420 In the meantime, Dan Bongino, deputy director of the FBI, revealed, shockingly, that the FBI, under James Comey,

00:05:21.760 had intentionally mishandled and hidden substantial evidence from the American public in a secret safe room,

00:05:29.040 and that the contents of this room had been discovered and would soon be known to the American public.

00:05:36.320 While discussing the remaining Comey loyalists in the FBI building,

00:05:41.860 Bongino announced that the FBI discovered an entire room of mishandled and hidden evidence from the Comey years.

00:05:49.720 He actually went on to say the FBI is working now to declassify these documents,

00:05:53.600 and once that occurs, the public will be shocked to learn what is there.

00:05:57.700 Bongino said,

00:06:00.080 Wait till you read the stuff that's coming out.

00:06:02.020 There are people there who are really horrified at what happened.

00:06:05.220 There was a room, and we found a lot of stuff, a hidden room.

00:06:08.440 Well, I wouldn't call it hidden, but hidden from us, at least, and not revealed to us.

00:06:13.080 We found stuff in there, and a lot of it, most of it, from the Comey era, quoting Dan Bongino himself.

00:06:19.800 We are doing our damnedest to declassify this as soon as we can.

00:06:23.640 Once that gets done, you will read a lot of the stuff that were discovered.

00:06:27.700 Now, I'm going to assume that yesterday's revelations that Nellie Orr, who was the wife of the FBI official Bruce Orr,

00:06:39.660 who was one of the perpetrators of the Russian collusion hoax,

00:06:43.720 and who clearly, based on documents released by Senator Chuck Grassley, chairman of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday, lied under oath to help cover up the entire Russian collusion operation,

00:06:58.740 which was, as we've said on the show many times, the largest single dirty trick in the history of American politics.

00:07:06.820 It was an abuse of power in which the full authority of the United States government and the extraordinary capabilities of our intelligence agencies were used,

00:07:18.560 utilizing what the FBI and the CIA and the Justice Department and the White House under Barack Obama knew was completely fabricated evidence,

00:07:29.060 the so-called Steele dossier, and the false claim that they still try to circulate that the Democrat National Committee had been hacked by Russian intelligence.

00:07:42.780 They have never produced any evidence to sustain that.

00:07:46.780 They point to the report of a company called CrowdStrikes after it was learned during my trial that the FBI admits they never inspected the computer servers of the DNC.

00:07:59.160 They relied on this company, CrowdStrikes, that CrowdStrikes report remained classified, but the head of CrowdStrikes, Sean Henry,

00:08:08.780 who just coincidentally happened to be a former deputy of Robert Mueller's at the FBI, admitted under oath to the House committee investigating the Russian collusion hoax,

00:08:21.040 that he had found no evidence whatsoever of any Russian hack.

00:08:25.220 So Bongino says that this material will be released.

00:08:31.300 He also implies a great deal it had to do with the Russian collusion hoax.

00:08:36.440 He also spoke again about the attempted assassinations of President Donald Trump.

00:08:43.380 He insisted yet again that everything that there is to know is known.

00:08:51.160 He was particularly critical of former FBI director Jim Comey, saying, and I agree,

00:08:58.120 this man is a disgrace to the badge, the FBI, and the country,

00:09:01.280 taking personal shots while you're on the beach implying a threat towards the president, 0.96

00:09:05.760 and then blaming his wife for it, which, if you followed this kerkuffle, you know exactly what Comey did.

00:09:14.160 Meanwhile, one of President Trump's chief executive officers predicted that the legislative agenda passed by the U.S. House,

00:09:27.400 the big, beautiful bill, would make America, every American family, $10,000 richer.

00:09:36.040 This came, of course, from Kevin Hassett, the director of the National Economic Council,

00:09:43.440 and he went on to say that the Congress recently passed a big, beautiful bill,

00:09:49.040 which includes the greatest single tax decrease in American history,

00:09:55.860 not to mention the doing away with the tax on tips, doing away with the tax on Social Security and retirement,

00:10:06.540 providing a new tax credit for those who buy their car or truck from a U.S. company,

00:10:13.940 a vehicle made here, is the greatest single tax cut in American history.

00:10:20.160 And therefore, if you voted against it, well, then you would be getting a 65% tax increase in January.

00:10:28.640 If the Republicans in the Senate don't pass the big, beautiful bill, as President Trump calls it,

00:10:33.520 it would therefore be the greatest tax hike in history.

00:10:37.700 Meantime, on Monday, Federal Housing and Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte

00:10:43.200 called on the Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, to lower interest rates.

00:10:49.720 Enough is enough.

00:10:51.380 President Trump has crushed Biden's inflation, according to Pulte,

00:10:55.300 and there's no reason not to lower rates.

00:10:57.920 The housing markets would be in much better shape if Chairman Powell would do this now.

00:11:03.740 This is just the latest effort to influence Powell,

00:11:06.460 and comes after the Supreme Court ruled last week

00:11:09.320 that Trump can't fire the head of the Federal Reserve.

00:11:13.840 There are many who have urged the President to do so,

00:11:16.960 but sadly, he does not have that authority.

00:11:20.080 The only thing that Congress can do here, of course,

00:11:22.620 is to repeal the entire Federal Reserve Act,

00:11:26.160 which, frankly, Congressman Ron Paul advocated years ago,

00:11:31.920 and I think would be an excellent first step.

00:11:34.600 One other point here, and that is, you remember,

00:11:37.900 some months ago, Elon Musk,

00:11:41.100 who was then heading the Department of Government Efficiency,

00:11:44.380 said that he was going to examine our gold reserves

00:11:48.100 that were held in Fort Knox, Kentucky,

00:11:51.560 with a very large section of our gold reserves

00:11:54.980 held by the New York Federal Reserve in New York City.

00:11:59.860 The gold has not been seen since 1974.

00:12:06.320 You notice how you've heard nothing whatsoever about that since that time?

00:12:12.020 I mean, where is the gold?

00:12:14.480 Is the gold still there?

00:12:16.920 If we learned that the gold was not there,

00:12:19.200 if it had been pilfered or sold or stolen,

00:12:22.560 would it really change anything?

00:12:23.900 Since our dollar is no longer pegged to gold,

00:12:27.340 that the dollar in your pocket,

00:12:29.940 the printed money you carry around,

00:12:31.840 is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States,

00:12:35.840 in other words, nothing,

00:12:37.120 not a basket of commodities,

00:12:38.500 not gold, not silver,

00:12:40.560 this would be a scandal,

00:12:42.260 but it's unclear,

00:12:43.600 if the gold is not there,

00:12:45.720 what the economic fallout would actually be.

00:12:49.660 I'm kind of curious to know whether the gold is still there

00:12:54.360 or whether it isn't.

00:12:56.460 Maybe we will yet find out.

00:12:59.000 But now the action turns to the U.S. Senate

00:13:02.400 to see what they'll do with the big, beautiful bill.

00:13:06.080 Now, Republicans are right to criticize

00:13:07.640 the fact that there aren't enough spending cuts in this bill.

00:13:12.320 Elon Musk showed us the way.

00:13:14.080 He outlined trillions of potential savings

00:13:16.420 and waste, fraud, and corruption.

00:13:18.840 And whether or not Republicans have the guts

00:13:21.920 to actually cut spending

00:13:23.920 rather than just talk about it,

00:13:25.880 well, that remains to be seen.

00:13:28.280 We'll be talking about this more in the Stone Zones.

00:13:30.660 Whatever you do,

00:13:31.840 please stick with us and don't touch that dial.

00:13:34.660 Later in the program,

00:13:35.780 we're going to be joined by Rod Martin

00:13:37.980 of the Rod Martin Report.

00:13:39.840 He is one of the savviest economic

00:13:41.980 and political analysts in the country.

00:13:44.840 This guy was one of the founders of PayPal.

00:13:47.100 He's very smart and he knows what he's talking about.

00:13:49.760 We'll be right back.

00:13:50.880 The Stone Zone

00:13:52.740 on the Red Apple Podcast Network.

00:13:55.320 This shrimp and coconut sauce is divine.

00:14:03.760 What's your secret?

00:14:04.760 Goya coconut milk.

00:14:05.880 How does it taste so good?

00:14:07.240 It's all in that real coconut flavor

00:14:09.060 and that rich, creamy texture.

00:14:11.320 What about thickeners and added sugars?

00:14:13.560 None.

00:14:14.140 Just smooth, coconutty goodness.

00:14:16.620 What can I make with it?

00:14:17.740 From curries to sweet treats like coconut flan,

00:14:20.700 the possibilities are endless.

00:14:22.420 Goya coconut milk.

00:14:24.340 Take your cooking to the next level.

00:14:25.960 No question about it.

00:14:27.040 Find it in the Goya section

00:14:27.960 of your local grocery store.

00:14:29.380 If it's Goya, it has to be good.

00:15:02.740 The Stone Zone

00:15:04.240 on the Red Apple Podcast Network.

00:15:08.500 So it seems to me

00:15:10.180 that we're at a crossroads

00:15:11.880 if the big, beautiful bill is not passed.

00:15:15.280 The Council of Economics Advisors

00:15:17.580 projects that we'll have a recession,

00:15:19.600 a really deep recession,

00:15:21.000 perhaps a decline of 4%

00:15:23.220 of gross domestic product.

00:15:25.720 On the other hand,

00:15:26.560 if we pass the bill,

00:15:28.040 you're going to see

00:15:28.720 striking economic growth,

00:15:30.260 just like we saw in 2018 and 2019

00:15:32.920 after the previous Trump tax cuts.

00:15:36.040 Their modeling said that

00:15:37.660 we'd have a $4,000 per person

00:15:40.840 increase in income,

00:15:42.500 also about a $10,000 increase

00:15:45.140 for income for the typical family

00:15:47.040 just over a couple of years.

00:15:50.580 So this is going to be

00:15:52.340 a crucial, crucial vote

00:15:54.740 in the U.S. Senate.

00:15:55.860 And we'll see

00:15:57.060 if Republicans are serious.

00:15:59.780 They don't have the kind of spending cuts

00:16:02.020 in the big, beautiful bill

00:16:02.960 that I had hoped.

00:16:04.060 Elon Musk gave them the roadmap.

00:16:07.160 We did hear from the White House

00:16:09.080 that they will put forward

00:16:10.060 a rescission bill

00:16:11.440 that would cut spending

00:16:12.360 by $94 billion.

00:16:16.280 That sounds like a lot,

00:16:17.440 but it's about 5%

00:16:19.220 of the proposed cuts

00:16:21.320 that Elon Musk actually found.

00:16:23.640 So it's really kind of anemic

00:16:25.780 in the greater scheme of things.

00:16:28.400 Remember, there are three steps

00:16:30.600 in Donald Trump's

00:16:31.780 planned reviver economy.

00:16:33.760 Actually, four,

00:16:34.980 if you're including

00:16:35.500 getting energy prices down.

00:16:37.380 That's already happened.

00:16:38.480 We've had a sharp decline

00:16:41.860 in the cost of a gallon of gasoline.

00:16:44.740 We also need tax reduction

00:16:46.880 on the working families of America.

00:16:49.960 No, the tax cuts

00:16:50.880 are not just for the rich.

00:16:52.540 They're across the board.

00:16:54.700 And, of course, the tariffs

00:16:56.940 where we're going to get

00:16:58.780 an even playing field.

00:17:00.520 Until his press conference,

00:17:02.140 after he announced

00:17:03.040 his tariff efforts

00:17:04.500 on the Liberation Day,

00:17:07.960 as he called it,

00:17:09.080 most Americans didn't realize

00:17:10.660 that virtually every one

00:17:12.000 of our trading partners

00:17:13.040 is charging us

00:17:14.560 a higher tariff rate

00:17:15.900 than we are charging them.

00:17:17.820 When you know that,

00:17:19.760 you see the president's demands

00:17:21.480 don't look that draconian.

00:17:24.400 Lastly, I had to chuckle about this.

00:17:26.540 In his new book,

00:17:27.520 Jake Tapper revealed

00:17:28.580 that former Vice President

00:17:30.020 Kamala Harris

00:17:30.720 was very angry

00:17:32.220 when Joe Biden

00:17:33.520 wore a Trump 2024 hat

00:17:37.700 during a September 11th

00:17:39.340 memorial event.

00:17:40.540 After seeing Biden's actions

00:17:42.140 turn into a viral video,

00:17:44.460 Kamala asked her staffers,

00:17:46.420 what the heck is he doing?

00:17:48.700 She said,

00:17:49.220 this is completely unhelpful

00:17:50.680 and so unnecessary.

00:17:52.760 Tapper reported

00:17:53.480 that this was the final straw

00:17:54.800 for Harris,

00:17:55.300 who stated she would

00:17:56.180 not do a public event

00:17:58.080 with Joe Biden

00:17:58.940 ever again.

00:18:00.980 I suspect that Joe Biden

00:18:02.640 was still more popular

00:18:03.580 than she was

00:18:04.340 by Election Day of 2024.

00:18:07.380 But Joe Biden's

00:18:08.320 putting on that Trump hat.

00:18:10.040 What was that all about?

00:18:11.700 Could that be because

00:18:12.640 he was very angry

00:18:14.440 about being dumped

00:18:15.440 from the Democrat ticket

00:18:16.800 against his will?

00:18:18.740 Joe didn't want to go.

00:18:20.100 He was forced out

00:18:20.880 by Barack Obama

00:18:21.920 and quickly replaced

00:18:23.440 in an undemocratic process

00:18:25.240 in which not a single Democrat

00:18:27.120 primary or caucus voter voted.

00:18:30.400 These are the people

00:18:31.580 constantly whining

00:18:33.080 about democracy.

00:18:35.120 You're in the Stone Zone.

00:18:36.500 We're going to be right back

00:18:37.380 with Rod Martin

00:18:38.540 of the Rod Martin Report.

00:18:40.080 So please don't touch that dial.

00:18:42.280 We'll be back

00:18:42.760 in the Stone Zone

00:18:43.480 in just a minute.

00:18:45.080 The Stone Zone

00:18:46.440 on the Red Apple Podcast Network.

00:18:48.860 The Stone Zone

00:18:57.540 on the Red Apple Podcast Network.

00:19:02.180 Welcome back

00:19:03.240 into the Stone Zone.

00:19:05.420 Substack, substack.com

00:19:07.520 is a place where

00:19:08.520 writers and thinkers

00:19:10.280 right, left and center

00:19:12.400 can express their views.

00:19:15.420 Views that the mainstream media

00:19:17.680 is disinterested in

00:19:19.080 because, well,

00:19:20.200 they're not politically correct

00:19:21.640 or they may be offbeat

00:19:23.380 or they may be off

00:19:24.880 the official fake news narrative.

00:19:28.500 Among the liveliest takes there

00:19:31.600 is Rod Martin.

00:19:34.800 Rod D. Martin

00:19:35.820 has the Rod D. Martin Report.

00:19:39.780 The Martin Report,

00:19:40.460 I urge you to check it out.

00:19:41.800 And the man himself

00:19:43.340 joins us now, Rod Martin.

00:19:45.100 Great to be here.

00:19:47.800 Thank you.

00:19:49.020 So I should tell folks

00:19:50.500 you are an entrepreneur,

00:19:51.940 a founder and CEO

00:19:53.060 of Martin Capital,

00:19:54.300 an investor,

00:19:55.200 a futurist,

00:19:56.220 one of the guys

00:19:57.140 that helped start PayPal.

00:19:58.460 You're a staunch anti-communist.

00:20:00.560 What I love is the fact

00:20:01.460 that you're also a thinker.

00:20:03.340 And the Rod Martin Report

00:20:05.280 on Substack

00:20:06.380 is a fountain of ideas

00:20:08.900 and free expression.

00:20:10.720 So I want to jump right into it

00:20:13.260 because these court rulings

00:20:14.840 are coming so fast

00:20:15.880 you could get whiplash

00:20:16.880 if you try to pay attention.

00:20:18.760 But yesterday,

00:20:20.020 we were told

00:20:20.540 this incredibly obscure

00:20:22.820 international trade court,

00:20:25.480 which, frankly,

00:20:25.980 I've never heard of before,

00:20:27.580 in Manhattan,

00:20:29.240 had suddenly ruled

00:20:31.220 that President Donald Trump

00:20:32.540 didn't have the authority

00:20:33.600 to go out

00:20:34.120 and negotiate trade deals

00:20:35.600 with other countries.

00:20:36.800 Now, just hours ago,

00:20:40.060 a new federal appeals court

00:20:42.980 has overruled that.

00:20:44.880 You just wrote

00:20:45.620 a great hot take on this.

00:20:47.700 Rod, give us your take.

00:20:50.440 Well, it's completely absurd.

00:20:52.980 It's a true travesty.

00:20:54.600 And I give you

00:20:55.420 about 1,800 words of analysis

00:20:57.200 on rodmartin.org

00:20:59.160 on exactly that.

00:21:01.060 Came out about half an hour ago.

00:21:02.720 So the appeals court

00:21:05.260 stayed the ruling for now.

00:21:09.260 So the Trump administration

00:21:11.140 will have an opportunity

00:21:12.220 to appeal this.

00:21:14.200 They seem to be going straight

00:21:15.960 to the Supreme Court.

00:21:17.100 Maybe they go to the appeals court first.

00:21:19.400 But in the meantime,

00:21:20.660 the tariffs continue.

00:21:22.220 That's what the president has.

00:21:24.580 The problem here is

00:21:26.220 the grounds on which

00:21:28.060 they overruled him.

00:21:29.660 They actually applied

00:21:31.980 very strictly

00:21:32.800 non-delegation doctrine,

00:21:34.540 which all good conservatives

00:21:36.440 would support.

00:21:37.620 We don't believe

00:21:38.200 that Congress

00:21:38.820 should have the right

00:21:39.700 to delegate

00:21:40.780 legislative authority

00:21:42.460 to administrative agencies,

00:21:45.380 the executive branch generally.

00:21:47.180 But that's not really

00:21:48.040 the situation here.

00:21:49.500 This is a foreign policy issue,

00:21:51.900 not a legislative issue.

00:21:54.140 Congress has clearly acted

00:21:56.200 in repeated acts

00:21:57.820 going back to 1930

00:21:59.460 to permit

00:22:01.240 and enable

00:22:03.140 the president

00:22:03.940 to use tariffs

00:22:05.800 as a tool

00:22:06.840 in the conduct

00:22:08.040 of American foreign policy.

00:22:10.480 And this has never been

00:22:11.760 meaningfully challenged.

00:22:13.800 This court,

00:22:14.660 yeah,

00:22:15.600 I think these people

00:22:16.420 had never heard of.

00:22:17.840 It was started in 1980,

00:22:20.080 but it's the successor

00:22:21.260 to the old U.S. Customs Court,

00:22:23.220 which was established

00:22:24.060 in 1890.

00:22:26.080 And in all of that time,

00:22:27.720 none of these activist Democrats

00:22:30.240 have ever seen fit

00:22:32.240 to question

00:22:33.120 when Barack Obama

00:22:34.360 imposed tariffs

00:22:35.620 or Joe Biden

00:22:37.220 maintained

00:22:38.100 presidentially imposed tariffs

00:22:40.100 or Jimmy Carter

00:22:41.620 or Lyndon Johnson

00:22:42.820 or R.C.R.

00:22:44.000 It's a complete political circus.

00:22:47.980 It is shameful

00:22:48.840 and it simply isn't the law.

00:22:51.460 Yeah, it's, as you say,

00:22:53.240 it's madness.

00:22:54.360 But we saw the same thing

00:22:55.620 surrounding the question

00:22:57.060 of whether the president

00:22:58.020 had the authority

00:22:59.220 to deport

00:23:00.360 illegal immigrant

00:23:02.000 gang members

00:23:03.340 with criminal records

00:23:05.060 in many cases

00:23:05.780 who are very clear danger

00:23:07.180 to those around them

00:23:09.040 and to the country.

00:23:09.940 We actually had

00:23:10.760 a court rule

00:23:12.080 that the president

00:23:12.660 had no such authority,

00:23:13.860 which, of course,

00:23:14.340 he does.

00:23:15.260 The Supreme Court

00:23:15.940 ultimately stepped in.

00:23:18.000 I'm hopeful

00:23:18.500 that they will do so again.

00:23:20.580 Now, one of the things

00:23:21.600 I like about

00:23:23.340 the stuff you put up

00:23:25.140 at RodMartin.org

00:23:26.520 and that you also

00:23:27.680 have at Substack

00:23:28.640 is the fact

00:23:29.820 that you've actually read

00:23:31.160 the art of the deal.

00:23:33.080 So you actually understand

00:23:35.200 our 45th

00:23:36.080 and our 47th president.

00:23:38.400 That in itself

00:23:40.740 I think is

00:23:42.500 one of the reasons

00:23:43.340 why your observations

00:23:44.460 are so on the money.

00:23:47.160 Give me your overall

00:23:48.280 take on

00:23:49.000 the president's

00:23:50.620 tariff strategy 0.71

00:23:52.240 because I've said

00:23:53.320 on this show

00:23:53.960 and elsewhere

00:23:54.380 I actually don't believe

00:23:55.820 that Donald Trump

00:23:56.340 loves tariffs.

00:23:57.440 I think he'd love

00:23:58.140 to have no tariffs.

00:23:59.000 He'd like to have

00:23:59.500 an even playing field

00:24:00.380 with no tariffs

00:24:01.080 between any countries

00:24:02.640 where we could sell

00:24:03.360 whatever we wanted

00:24:03.960 in their country

00:24:04.540 and vice versa.

00:24:05.820 But that's not

00:24:06.640 what we have.

00:24:07.380 People say

00:24:08.420 oh you're against

00:24:09.360 free trade

00:24:10.180 but we want

00:24:11.020 fair trade

00:24:11.840 and the trade

00:24:12.320 hasn't been fair.

00:24:13.800 So the president

00:24:14.680 uses tariffs

00:24:16.460 as a cudgel

00:24:17.520 and frankly

00:24:18.720 based on what I've seen

00:24:20.340 so far it appears

00:24:21.740 to be working.

00:24:22.800 But I'm more interested

00:24:23.480 in your take.

00:24:25.160 You're absolutely

00:24:26.540 singing my song

00:24:27.720 and I'm just

00:24:28.960 saying again and again

00:24:30.000 on Fox Business

00:24:30.920 and other fora

00:24:32.340 because

00:24:33.100 it's just plain as day

00:24:35.240 Donald Trump

00:24:36.140 has made this position

00:24:37.460 clear.

00:24:38.620 I would say

00:24:39.960 possibly most

00:24:41.180 clearly

00:24:41.760 at the

00:24:42.700 2018

00:24:44.120 EG7 meeting

00:24:45.640 where he just

00:24:46.440 stood up

00:24:47.020 and he told them

00:24:47.860 look

00:24:48.340 I'm a working guy

00:24:49.800 obviously

00:24:51.140 the right outcome

00:24:52.400 is to have

00:24:53.100 no trade barriers

00:24:54.280 whatsoever

00:24:54.960 that's going to be

00:24:56.440 prosperity

00:24:57.020 for everybody

00:24:57.960 but you guys

00:24:59.240 won't play ball

00:25:00.180 and they wouldn't

00:25:02.200 and they didn't

00:25:03.040 and so now

00:25:04.020 we get the

00:25:04.480 reciprocal tariffs 0.91

00:25:05.580 just to jerk 0.71

00:25:07.360 their chains

00:25:08.360 that everybody

00:25:10.200 misses

00:25:10.940 and I don't

00:25:12.300 understand why

00:25:13.240 is that America

00:25:15.040 is the largest

00:25:15.800 consumer market

00:25:16.820 in the world.

00:25:18.000 Everybody

00:25:18.640 who exports

00:25:19.820 has to sell

00:25:21.120 to us

00:25:21.960 and by the way

00:25:22.980 a lot of these

00:25:23.480 countries

00:25:23.880 are heavily

00:25:24.940 dependent

00:25:25.460 on the export

00:25:26.580 sector of their

00:25:27.380 economy.

00:25:28.460 Germany

00:25:28.860 48%

00:25:30.180 of their

00:25:30.520 economy

00:25:31.020 China

00:25:31.800 more than

00:25:32.800 20%

00:25:33.500 of their

00:25:33.840 economy

00:25:34.300 and some

00:25:35.400 of that

00:25:35.740 gets trans-shifted 1.00

00:25:36.980 through Vietnam

00:25:37.560 and different

00:25:38.100 places

00:25:38.460 doesn't matter

00:25:39.600 you know

00:25:40.280 the bottom line

00:25:41.080 is without

00:25:41.640 the US market

00:25:42.500 China goes 0.98

00:25:43.340 into a

00:25:43.740 depression

00:25:44.260 and so

00:25:45.220 would Germany 0.73

00:25:45.920 and so

00:25:46.780 would much

00:25:47.200 of the world

00:25:47.700 they need us

00:25:48.940 more than

00:25:49.520 we need them

00:25:50.240 so of course

00:25:51.040 Donald Trump

00:25:51.620 understands that

00:25:52.560 that sort of

00:25:53.300 gets to be

00:25:53.820 stayed

00:25:54.260 and you mentioned

00:25:54.960 the art of the deal

00:25:55.820 I would also

00:25:56.900 like to single out

00:25:58.100 what I think

00:25:59.020 is actually

00:25:59.900 in 1997

00:26:02.480 the art of the

00:26:03.620 comeback

00:26:03.900 which is just

00:26:05.200 extraordinary

00:26:05.980 particularly

00:26:07.360 in the last

00:26:09.100 chapter

00:26:09.740 which goes on

00:26:10.980 at length

00:26:11.820 about his

00:26:12.860 political views

00:26:14.260 and it reads

00:26:15.600 just like

00:26:16.700 a campaign

00:26:17.360 statement

00:26:17.800 from 2016

00:26:18.940 or 2024

00:26:20.280 it's extraordinary

00:26:21.940 how consistent

00:26:22.880 this man is

00:26:23.680 and over time

00:26:24.480 hoping at picking

00:26:25.480 up a pro-life

00:26:26.280 position along the way

00:26:27.680 but otherwise

00:26:28.700 he's as consistent

00:26:30.180 as the day is long

00:26:32.060 and the people

00:26:33.160 who have done

00:26:34.020 the homework

00:26:34.500 and won't do

00:26:35.520 the reading

00:26:36.000 always get him

00:26:37.500 wrong

00:26:37.800 always misunderstand

00:26:39.420 him

00:26:39.880 and they're not

00:26:40.500 going to get

00:26:40.900 any better

00:26:41.400 yeah I completely

00:26:42.860 agree

00:26:43.180 I would also

00:26:43.820 point out his

00:26:44.580 book

00:26:44.900 The America

00:26:45.480 We Deserve

00:26:46.120 in which he

00:26:46.660 actually

00:26:47.160 foresees

00:26:48.960 the rising threat

00:26:50.240 of Islamic

00:26:50.840 terrorism

00:26:51.420 and he actually

00:26:52.580 predicts the

00:26:53.380 attack on America

00:26:54.340 on 9-11

00:26:55.680 an extraordinary

00:26:57.060 book

00:26:57.660 I agree with you

00:26:59.040 the only issue

00:27:00.000 frankly

00:27:00.520 on which he's

00:27:01.260 really changed

00:27:01.960 is I think

00:27:03.280 with the birth

00:27:03.900 of his son

00:27:04.880 Barron

00:27:05.340 he became pro-life

00:27:07.080 I think that gave

00:27:07.880 him a new

00:27:08.700 appreciation

00:27:09.400 but beyond that

00:27:11.000 if you go back

00:27:11.880 and look at the

00:27:12.500 speech he gave

00:27:13.160 in New Hampshire

00:27:13.740 in 1988

00:27:15.800 when he spoke

00:27:17.620 to the Plymouth

00:27:18.440 New Hampshire

00:27:19.040 Chamber of Commerce

00:27:20.480 many people said

00:27:21.340 oh is he running

00:27:22.020 for president

00:27:22.600 is he going

00:27:23.400 to New Hampshire

00:27:23.820 because he's

00:27:24.200 running for president

00:27:24.840 no he's going

00:27:25.380 to New Hampshire

00:27:25.820 to get exposure

00:27:26.980 for his ideas

00:27:27.800 he talked about

00:27:29.020 the folly

00:27:29.760 of the trade

00:27:30.380 deals

00:27:30.660 this was pre-GAT

00:27:31.840 pre-NAFTA

00:27:32.940 but he said

00:27:33.940 we're getting

00:27:34.600 killed in these

00:27:35.200 trade deals

00:27:35.660 we send

00:27:36.300 social workers

00:27:37.560 they send 0.95

00:27:38.280 killers

00:27:38.700 they send

00:27:39.580 their best

00:27:40.020 and brightest

00:27:40.520 we send

00:27:41.440 bureaucrats

00:27:42.200 we're getting

00:27:42.580 rolled

00:27:43.160 and why

00:27:44.720 are we continuing

00:27:45.360 to pay

00:27:46.000 a disproportionate

00:27:47.380 amount

00:27:47.680 for the

00:27:48.760 protection of

00:27:49.480 Europe

00:27:49.720 why are our

00:27:50.740 NATO allies

00:27:52.320 not paying

00:27:53.540 their fair share

00:27:54.820 for their

00:27:55.800 own protection

00:27:56.720 I remember this

00:27:57.680 like it was

00:27:58.080 yesterday

00:27:58.540 he said

00:27:59.040 look I understood

00:27:59.760 that after

00:28:00.620 World War II

00:28:01.500 they were

00:28:02.680 devastated

00:28:03.280 they were

00:28:03.980 destroyed

00:28:04.400 they were

00:28:04.840 broke

00:28:05.180 we were still

00:28:06.000 relatively

00:28:06.680 prosperous

00:28:07.340 and the

00:28:09.080 Marshall Plan

00:28:09.680 was necessary

00:28:10.480 and so on

00:28:11.860 but now

00:28:12.600 with our

00:28:13.980 economy in

00:28:14.920 trouble

00:28:15.240 why are they

00:28:16.740 not paying

00:28:17.400 their fair share

00:28:17.980 this was 1988

00:28:18.960 of course

00:28:19.600 in 2017

00:28:21.300 he made

00:28:22.900 our NATO

00:28:23.960 allies

00:28:24.640 pony up

00:28:25.480 every one

00:28:26.020 of them

00:28:26.300 was behind

00:28:27.360 in their

00:28:27.680 payments

00:28:28.000 and every

00:28:28.500 one of them

00:28:28.960 was forced

00:28:29.740 to cough

00:28:30.100 up millions

00:28:31.240 and millions

00:28:32.040 of dollars

00:28:32.600 Rod you

00:28:33.420 wrote this

00:28:33.960 and I loved

00:28:34.460 it

00:28:34.780 speaking of

00:28:36.580 Trump's

00:28:37.460 use

00:28:38.300 and maneuvering

00:28:40.120 for tariffs

00:28:40.640 you said

00:28:41.080 this is like

00:28:42.220 Reagan's

00:28:43.000 zero option

00:28:44.080 all over again

00:28:44.820 Reagan deployed

00:28:46.120 a large number

00:28:46.920 of new

00:28:47.380 nuclear weapons

00:28:48.560 to Europe

00:28:49.100 to counter

00:28:50.000 the Soviets

00:28:50.720 similar

00:28:51.320 deployment

00:28:51.920 while proposing

00:28:53.160 that all

00:28:53.760 such weapons

00:28:54.380 should be

00:28:54.800 banned

00:28:55.220 everyone laughed

00:28:56.620 until 1987

00:28:57.660 when he achieved

00:28:59.400 exactly that

00:29:00.440 but speaking

00:29:01.620 of Reagan

00:29:02.160 who you and I

00:29:03.100 agree is

00:29:03.780 one of the

00:29:04.460 20th century's

00:29:05.240 greatest presidents

00:29:06.100 he also used

00:29:07.740 market power

00:29:08.700 specifically

00:29:09.340 a huge arms race

00:29:11.200 coupled with

00:29:12.200 collapsing the

00:29:13.000 price of energy

00:29:13.800 from which

00:29:14.540 Russian derived

00:29:15.420 the cash it

00:29:16.000 needed to

00:29:16.400 continue to

00:29:16.980 compete

00:29:17.340 and he

00:29:18.020 bankrupted

00:29:18.900 the Soviet

00:29:19.500 Union

00:29:19.960 Trump

00:29:20.740 remember

00:29:21.260 this lesson

00:29:21.960 and now

00:29:22.700 you say

00:29:23.220 China is 0.85

00:29:24.360 learning us

00:29:25.020 talk to us

00:29:25.820 about China

00:29:26.580 China

00:29:27.420 you were

00:29:29.420 talking about

00:29:29.960 how Trump

00:29:30.700 is checkmating

00:29:31.840 China

00:29:32.280 expand on that

00:29:33.260 if you would

00:29:34.020 well you're

00:29:35.520 exactly right

00:29:36.380 this is

00:29:37.100 this is

00:29:38.120 Reagan's

00:29:38.980 zero

00:29:39.920 option

00:29:40.940 strategy

00:29:41.620 from what

00:29:43.100 became the

00:29:44.060 intermediate

00:29:44.440 nuclear forces

00:29:45.380 treaty

00:29:45.820 in 1987

00:29:47.080 when Reagan

00:29:48.380 put it out

00:29:49.140 there

00:29:49.480 everybody

00:29:50.880 called him 0.52

00:29:51.560 crazy

00:29:51.940 on both

00:29:52.760 sides of

00:29:53.240 the aisle

00:29:53.740 but he

00:29:54.520 was right

00:29:55.180 you know

00:29:55.820 putting pressure

00:29:56.800 on the

00:29:57.460 Soviets 0.97

00:29:57.880 by deploying

00:29:59.240 nuclear missiles

00:30:00.240 both the

00:30:00.680 cruise missiles

00:30:01.340 and the

00:30:01.720 Persian 2

00:30:02.480 put the

00:30:03.420 Russians in 0.94

00:30:04.000 a position

00:30:04.540 where they

00:30:05.680 absolutely

00:30:06.840 had

00:30:07.480 tons of

00:30:08.840 reason

00:30:09.200 to actually

00:30:10.460 abolish

00:30:11.340 an entire 0.95

00:30:12.360 class of

00:30:13.100 nuclear weapons

00:30:13.800 it's the only

00:30:14.560 time it's ever

00:30:15.240 happened

00:30:15.560 and it was

00:30:16.660 highly successful

00:30:17.520 and it was

00:30:17.980 just because

00:30:18.440 Reagan was

00:30:18.980 a visionary

00:30:19.480 and willing

00:30:20.520 to go for

00:30:21.220 the deal

00:30:21.780 that these

00:30:22.920 days Trump

00:30:23.580 would go for

00:30:24.480 that most

00:30:25.600 of our

00:30:25.840 political class

00:30:26.680 doesn't have

00:30:27.280 the creativity

00:30:27.980 to even

00:30:28.580 imagine

00:30:29.000 and they're

00:30:29.460 horrified by

00:30:30.340 the concept

00:30:31.100 same thing

00:30:32.280 with using

00:30:32.880 the Saudi

00:30:33.620 alliance

00:30:34.420 to collapse

00:30:35.620 the price

00:30:36.160 of the oil

00:30:36.740 and that's

00:30:38.340 where

00:30:38.560 you just

00:30:39.980 saw the

00:30:40.460 trip to

00:30:40.820 the Middle

00:30:41.120 East

00:30:41.480 we're

00:30:42.600 buttressing

00:30:43.540 those

00:30:43.940 alliances

00:30:44.560 we've got

00:30:45.120 to bring

00:30:45.500 Israel

00:30:46.040 into an

00:30:46.780 alliance

00:30:47.300 with Saudi

00:30:47.920 Arabia

00:30:48.380 and the

00:30:49.220 rest of

00:30:49.560 the Gulf

00:30:49.840 States

00:30:50.200 and that's

00:30:50.960 already

00:30:51.240 started

00:30:51.660 the Abraham

00:30:52.260 Accords

00:30:52.780 but in

00:30:53.700 the process

00:30:54.500 we're

00:30:55.320 isolating

00:30:55.880 China

00:30:56.380 and Donald

00:30:57.440 Trump

00:30:57.760 understands

00:30:58.500 perfectly

00:30:59.380 clearly

00:31:00.000 what the

00:31:00.560 Beltway

00:31:01.120 class has

00:31:01.860 thought

00:31:02.260 that China 0.93

00:31:03.520 is a

00:31:03.960 geopolitical

00:31:04.660 threat

00:31:05.080 it's a

00:31:06.280 it's a

00:31:06.760 regime run

00:31:07.680 by a

00:31:08.120 communist

00:31:08.560 party

00:31:09.020 that

00:31:09.300 pretends

00:31:09.900 to

00:31:11.420 nuke 0.98

00:31:12.380 American

00:31:13.300 cities

00:31:13.940 to

00:31:14.620 invade

00:31:15.220 an

00:31:15.700 American

00:31:16.120 ally

00:31:16.680 in

00:31:17.120 Taiwan

00:31:17.500 this

00:31:18.340 is not

00:31:18.880 Germany

00:31:19.360 this is

00:31:20.000 not

00:31:20.480 Japan

00:31:20.940 this is

00:31:21.680 not

00:31:22.060 a

00:31:22.560 friend

00:31:22.880 this is

00:31:23.680 at best

00:31:24.200 a

00:31:24.380 frenemy

00:31:24.820 we have

00:31:26.680 to

00:31:26.840 decouple

00:31:27.340 from them

00:31:27.960 sufficiently

00:31:28.560 that we're

00:31:29.020 not

00:31:29.300 dependent

00:31:29.640 on them

00:31:30.120 for strategic

00:31:30.860 supply

00:31:31.460 and also

00:31:32.880 enough

00:31:33.720 that their

00:31:34.560 economy

00:31:35.240 is sufficiently

00:31:36.040 depressed

00:31:36.640 that they

00:31:37.120 can't

00:31:37.500 afford

00:31:38.160 military

00:31:39.580 interventions

00:31:40.240 and an

00:31:41.580 invasion of

00:31:42.240 Taiwan

00:31:42.700 or potentially

00:31:43.740 Siberia

00:31:44.660 or whatever

00:31:45.380 they might

00:31:45.900 attempt

00:31:46.360 Trump gets

00:31:48.000 it

00:31:48.240 everybody

00:31:49.120 before him

00:31:50.220 failed in

00:31:51.060 this regard

00:31:51.680 starting with

00:31:52.520 Bill Clinton

00:31:53.280 letting China 0.95

00:31:54.200 into the

00:31:54.620 WTO

00:31:55.320 letting China 0.95

00:31:57.060 have most

00:31:57.900 favored nation

00:31:58.560 status

00:31:59.000 taking tons

00:32:01.400 of Chinese

00:32:02.000 campaign cash

00:32:02.880 in the

00:32:03.160 1996

00:32:03.520 election

00:32:04.280 it's the

00:32:06.060 genesis

00:32:06.500 of our

00:32:07.320 allowance

00:32:08.000 of these

00:32:08.760 people

00:32:09.020 I know

00:32:11.180 you're

00:32:11.340 absolutely

00:32:11.640 right

00:32:11.960 I often

00:32:12.640 say that

00:32:13.060 Richard Nixon

00:32:13.620 gets a

00:32:14.200 bum rap

00:32:14.740 people say

00:32:15.260 that Nixon

00:32:16.100 because he

00:32:16.840 restored economic

00:32:17.820 relations with

00:32:18.780 the Chinese

00:32:19.340 is responsible

00:32:20.660 for the

00:32:21.520 threat that

00:32:22.360 China poses

00:32:23.380 today but

00:32:24.100 people don't

00:32:24.860 recognize that

00:32:25.920 at the time

00:32:26.440 that Nixon

00:32:26.780 went to

00:32:27.160 China

00:32:27.400 China was 0.99

00:32:28.040 a dirt 0.98

00:32:28.540 poor

00:32:28.940 agrarian

00:32:30.240 society

00:32:30.980 most

00:32:32.080 homes

00:32:32.920 did not

00:32:33.300 have

00:32:33.480 indoor

00:32:33.740 plumbing

00:32:34.120 the

00:32:35.580 rural areas

00:32:36.240 didn't

00:32:36.480 even have

00:32:36.840 electricity

00:32:37.360 the

00:32:38.320 country

00:32:38.700 had no

00:32:39.360 technological

00:32:40.100 capabilities

00:32:41.040 they had

00:32:42.240 a military

00:32:43.080 capability

00:32:43.840 but it

00:32:44.240 was

00:32:44.460 antiquated

00:32:45.520 it wasn't

00:32:46.380 until the

00:32:46.940 Clintons

00:32:47.320 gave them

00:32:47.800 most

00:32:48.360 favored

00:32:49.060 nation

00:32:49.740 trading

00:32:50.200 status

00:32:50.760 and frankly

00:32:51.940 Bill Clinton

00:32:53.020 sold them

00:32:54.320 in the

00:32:55.640 Loral

00:32:56.540 scandal

00:32:57.180 sold them

00:32:57.820 our

00:32:58.040 missile

00:32:58.900 targeting

00:32:59.540 technology

00:33:00.420 in return

00:33:01.300 for millions

00:33:01.900 of dollars

00:33:02.420 in illegal

00:33:02.980 campaign

00:33:03.480 contributions

00:33:04.080 these are

00:33:05.000 the things

00:33:05.420 that made

00:33:05.920 China

00:33:06.400 the danger

00:33:07.460 that it

00:33:08.000 is today

00:33:08.500 there was

00:33:08.860 no way

00:33:09.360 for Richard

00:33:10.320 Milhouse

00:33:10.900 Nixon

00:33:11.260 to see

00:33:12.240 that 30

00:33:12.920 years later

00:33:13.740 after he

00:33:14.800 played the

00:33:15.260 Russians off 1.00

00:33:15.880 against the

00:33:16.380 Chinese

00:33:16.760 and vice

00:33:17.260 versa

00:33:17.600 to secure

00:33:18.600 a strategic

00:33:19.180 arms

00:33:19.620 limitation

00:33:20.120 agreement

00:33:20.700 which the

00:33:22.060 Russians

00:33:22.340 were going

00:33:22.860 cold

00:33:23.460 until Nixon

00:33:24.620 announced he

00:33:25.160 was going

00:33:25.440 to visit

00:33:25.960 Beijing

00:33:26.680 and then

00:33:27.780 suddenly they

00:33:28.300 wanted to

00:33:28.660 make a deal

00:33:29.300 there's no way

00:33:30.400 Nixon could

00:33:31.000 see that

00:33:31.740 China would 0.99

00:33:32.320 emerge as

00:33:33.100 the threat

00:33:33.560 that they

00:33:34.180 have become

00:33:35.220 folks if

00:33:36.340 you're just

00:33:36.640 tuning in

00:33:37.260 if you're just

00:33:38.060 tuning in

00:33:38.580 this is the

00:33:39.800 we're talking

00:33:46.880 away because

00:33:47.460 we'll be right

00:33:48.080 back with a

00:33:49.160 bit more

00:33:49.740 with Rod

00:33:50.680 Martin

00:33:51.120 talking about

00:33:51.900 the politics

00:33:53.040 of the day

00:33:53.920 right now

00:33:54.460 we're focused

00:33:55.060 on China

00:33:56.400 but I want

00:33:56.920 to ask him

00:33:57.380 when we come

00:33:57.780 back about

00:33:58.380 Russia

00:33:58.800 and about

00:34:00.120 Vladimir Putin

00:34:01.600 and the

00:34:02.520 quest for

00:34:03.260 peace

00:34:03.640 in the

00:34:04.660 Ukraine

00:34:05.280 Russian war

00:34:06.300 again you're

00:34:18.640 we're back

00:34:32.880 in the

00:34:33.360 Stone

00:34:33.620 Zone

00:34:33.860 we're talking

00:34:34.340 to Rod

00:34:35.120 Martin

00:34:35.700 of the

00:34:36.420 Rod

00:34:36.700 Martin

00:34:36.980 Report

00:34:37.280 you can

00:34:39.580 or you can

00:34:40.360 find him

00:34:40.720 on Substack

00:34:41.600 his writings

00:34:43.080 are always

00:34:44.140 provocative

00:34:44.840 and exhilarating

00:34:46.040 Rod

00:34:47.120 I want to

00:34:47.400 talk to you

00:34:47.740 specifically

00:34:48.220 about Syria

00:34:49.140 actually

00:34:50.240 because I

00:34:51.040 think this

00:34:51.440 is Donald

00:34:53.360 Trump

00:34:53.760 testing his

00:34:54.920 theory that

00:34:55.460 he's about

00:34:55.940 commerce

00:34:56.480 as you say

00:34:57.380 not chaos

00:34:58.720 and taking

00:35:00.280 Syria in

00:35:01.080 out of the

00:35:01.420 cold

00:35:01.800 restoring

00:35:02.800 diplomatic

00:35:03.380 relations

00:35:03.980 sending

00:35:04.720 our

00:35:05.320 ambassador

00:35:05.940 to Turkey

00:35:06.520 Tom

00:35:07.400 Barrack

00:35:07.920 an

00:35:08.100 extraordinarily

00:35:08.720 able

00:35:09.480 individual

00:35:10.280 who I've

00:35:10.680 actually

00:35:11.020 been friends

00:35:11.780 with since

00:35:12.180 1972

00:35:13.220 as a

00:35:14.820 special envoy

00:35:16.420 to go meet

00:35:17.580 with the

00:35:18.020 Syrians 0.90

00:35:18.480 I think

00:35:19.760 this is

00:35:20.300 truly

00:35:20.940 brilliant

00:35:21.820 but I

00:35:22.780 want to

00:35:22.920 know what

00:35:23.120 you think

00:35:23.600 I completely

00:35:25.740 agree

00:35:26.260 we have

00:35:27.480 tried

00:35:28.020 the

00:35:28.700 neocon

00:35:29.600 fantasy

00:35:30.440 now for

00:35:31.420 25 years

00:35:32.380 and what

00:35:33.680 we have

00:35:34.180 gotten from

00:35:34.800 that is

00:35:35.640 not that

00:35:36.620 great

00:35:37.040 it's

00:35:37.740 not as

00:35:38.220 bad

00:35:38.480 as some

00:35:38.840 people

00:35:39.120 would

00:35:39.340 say

00:35:39.680 I have

00:35:40.200 to

00:35:40.340 commend

00:35:40.660 George

00:35:41.080 Bush

00:35:41.520 Iraq

00:35:42.600 is still

00:35:42.980 a

00:35:43.100 functioning

00:35:43.460 democracy

00:35:44.120 I mean

00:35:44.880 it's

00:35:45.500 not

00:35:45.680 somewhere

00:35:45.980 I'd

00:35:46.340 want to

00:35:46.600 live

00:35:46.920 but it's

00:35:47.320 a lot

00:35:47.600 better

00:35:47.840 than it

00:35:48.180 was

00:35:48.560 the

00:35:49.060 question

00:35:49.500 is

00:35:49.960 was it

00:35:50.960 worth

00:35:51.320 what we

00:35:51.760 did

00:35:52.140 was it

00:35:52.700 worth

00:35:52.980 what we

00:35:53.340 spent

00:35:53.700 in

00:35:53.920 blood

00:35:54.160 and

00:35:54.360 treasure

00:35:54.720 and

00:35:55.140 of course

00:35:55.460 you've

00:35:55.640 got

00:35:55.800 Afghanistan

00:35:56.300 which

00:35:56.780 is

00:35:56.900 a

00:35:57.020 catastrophe

00:35:57.600 and

00:35:58.200 Donald

00:35:58.460 Trump

00:35:58.800 goes

00:35:59.080 to

00:35:59.220 the

00:35:59.340 Middle 0.95

00:35:59.480 East

00:35:59.780 and

00:35:59.960 says

00:36:00.160 look

00:36:00.420 we're

00:36:00.600 not

00:36:00.760 going to

00:36:07.040 what we

00:36:07.360 need

00:36:07.680 is

00:36:07.840 to

00:36:08.020 need

00:36:08.320 each

00:36:08.560 other

00:36:08.860 and

00:36:09.280 if

00:36:09.460 we

00:36:09.600 need

00:36:09.920 each

00:36:10.200 other

00:36:10.480 enough

00:36:10.960 we

00:36:11.560 won't

00:36:11.880 have

00:36:12.140 war

00:36:12.500 we

00:36:12.900 will

00:36:13.260 have

00:36:13.580 peace

00:36:14.000 we

00:36:14.460 will

00:36:14.860 get

00:36:15.160 rich

00:36:15.600 and

00:36:16.100 everyone

00:36:16.680 will

00:36:17.040 benefit

00:36:17.480 and

00:36:18.220 obviously

00:36:18.980 that's

00:36:19.260 a winning

00:36:19.600 message

00:36:20.120 because

00:36:20.580 he

00:36:21.160 came

00:36:21.460 back

00:36:21.860 depending

00:36:22.420 on how

00:36:22.900 you

00:36:23.080 count

00:36:23.420 it

00:36:23.600 with

00:36:24.060 about

00:36:24.720 three

00:36:25.240 trillion

00:36:25.980 dollars

00:36:26.540 in

00:36:26.920 new

00:36:27.160 investment

00:36:27.660 commitments

00:36:28.200 and arms

00:36:28.880 purchases

00:36:29.380 from

00:36:30.080 Middle 0.95

00:36:30.340 Eastern

00:36:30.640 powers

00:36:31.180 that

00:36:31.720 have

00:36:32.120 every

00:36:32.380 reason

00:36:32.720 to

00:36:32.920 hate

00:36:33.160 us

00:36:33.380 but

00:36:33.780 they

00:36:33.940 don't

00:36:34.360 they

00:36:34.840 love

00:36:35.160 him

00:36:35.520 yeah

00:36:36.900 I

00:36:37.100 completely

00:36:37.560 agree

00:36:37.980 I

00:36:38.260 remember

00:36:38.720 this

00:36:39.220 is

00:36:39.360 evocative

00:36:39.860 of the

00:36:40.160 way

00:36:40.280 he

00:36:40.420 handled

00:36:40.700 North

00:36:40.960 Korea 0.61

00:36:41.300 remember

00:36:41.860 him

00:36:42.020 telling

00:36:42.240 me

00:36:42.440 right

00:36:42.620 after

00:36:42.820 he

00:36:42.920 was

00:36:43.020 elected

00:36:43.280 president

00:36:43.800 in

00:36:44.400 2016

00:36:44.900 he

00:36:45.220 met

00:36:45.400 with

00:36:45.560 Barack

00:36:46.100 Obama

00:36:46.460 and

00:36:46.640 Bill

00:36:46.800 Clinton

00:36:47.100 who

00:36:47.620 both

00:36:47.880 told

00:36:48.160 him

00:36:48.340 your

00:36:48.920 biggest

00:36:49.280 single

00:36:49.620 problem

00:36:50.160 is

00:36:50.740 this 1.00

00:36:51.240 lunatic 1.00

00:36:54.200 and 0.97

00:36:54.660 Trump

00:36:54.840 said

00:36:55.020 well

00:36:55.140 what

00:36:55.280 is

00:36:55.380 he

00:36:55.480 saying

00:36:55.820 they

00:36:56.060 said

00:36:56.180 what

00:36:56.280 do

00:36:56.300 he

00:36:56.360 mean

00:36:56.580 Trump

00:36:57.360 said

00:36:57.500 what

00:36:57.700 is

00:36:57.840 he

00:36:57.940 saying

00:36:58.300 so

00:36:58.520 we

00:36:58.700 don't

00:36:58.820 know

00:36:58.940 what

00:36:59.040 he's

00:36:59.160 saying

00:36:59.300 we're

00:36:59.440 not

00:36:59.580 talking

00:36:59.880 to

00:37:00.060 him

00:37:00.260 and

00:37:01.060 Trump

00:37:01.240 said

00:37:01.400 well

00:37:01.520 don't

00:37:01.740 you

00:37:01.880 think

00:37:02.140 if

00:37:02.320 he's

00:37:02.920 on

00:37:03.160 the

00:37:06.840 to

00:37:07.000 be

00:37:07.140 in

00:37:07.260 a

00:37:07.380 dialogue

00:37:07.740 and

00:37:08.020 see

00:37:08.140 what's

00:37:08.420 on

00:37:08.920 his

00:37:09.120 mind

00:37:09.480 see

00:37:10.360 you

00:37:10.480 can

00:37:10.720 figure

00:37:10.960 out

00:37:11.200 what

00:37:11.420 he's

00:37:11.620 doing

00:37:11.940 where

00:37:12.140 he's

00:37:12.520 see

00:37:13.860 out

00:37:14.180 of

00:37:14.300 it

00:37:14.420 wouldn't

00:37:14.640 that

00:37:14.820 make

00:37:15.060 sense

00:37:15.340 to

00:37:15.480 you

00:37:15.580 and

00:37:15.680 of
