He served as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations from 1987-1993, and served as Special Agent in Charge of the Joint Improving Relationships with the Russian Intelligence Service (JIR) from 1993-1993. He was appointed by Vice President Joe Biden and served in the Biden administration, which included a number of high-profile indictments of conservative political opponents. He is now serving a life sentence in prison.
