00:28:55.520 President Trump said yesterday he hopes the United States can completely get rid of the federal income tax in the upcoming years,

00:29:01.600 reiterating his belief that the revenues brought in through tariffs should be enough to end the

00:29:06.940 current system of income taxes. Now, we didn't have a federal income tax until 1913. Prior to

00:29:14.800 that time, under presidents like William McKinley, we generated more than enough revenue from tariffs

00:29:21.380 to fund the entire federal government. June of this year was the first year in 15 years,

00:29:28.100 for probably the first month in 15 years, in which the United States actually ran a surplus,

00:29:33.780 meaning we took in more money than the government paid out. The president is right when he says that

00:29:39.500 we are bringing in billions of dollars more in new revenues, and he actually could, on paper at

00:29:46.500 least, theoretically do away entirely with the federal income tax. The president has stated on

00:29:52.500 the campaigns last year when he waxed poetic about the days of America when there was no federal

00:29:57.720 income tax in hopes to fund the entire government through tariff income. Getting rid of income taxes

00:30:03.400 and the IRS would force the government to shrink back to the levels prescribed by the Constitution

00:30:08.400 and our founding fathers, as a matter of fact. So while he's at it, he also should get rid of the

00:30:13.200 Federal Reserve, as far as I'm concerned. The President, of course, cannot just do so by waving

00:30:19.200 a magic wand, but he can take substantial measures to undermine the Federal Reserve,

00:30:23.900 the Internal Revenue Service, and other toxic aspects of the federal bureaucracy.

00:32:34.020 production was stopped due to a lack of economic viability. Now it turns out the next casualty of

00:32:38.960 modernity may be the nickel, which due to big government regulations and inflation is even more

00:32:44.840 of a loser for the American taxpayer than the penny was. The U.S. nickel, which has been the

00:32:50.200 quiet nightmare, the raw melt of these coins is very simple math, now actually costs $13.78

00:32:57.360 to produce and distribute. So it's actually worth more as scrap than it is as money. This is a

00:33:03.900 financial loss per coin that's been transpiring since 2006, exposing our government's relentless

00:33:09.620 fiscal waste. So the humble nickel has become a casualty of the green energy boom, with surging

00:33:15.700 costs of material stemming from skyrocketing prices for its core metals. The simple nickel

00:33:21.300 is 75% copper and 25% nickel, but this is driven by global demand in EV batteries,

00:33:28.600 the batteries for electric vehicles. With 67 million electric vehicles produced worldwide to

00:33:34.240 date, that's through the third quarter of 2025, $7.3 million of these electric vehicles in 2024

00:33:41.500 alone, and 20 million more electric vehicles projected for 2025. This is burning millions

00:33:47.600 of taxpayer dollars, all the while purchasing power of this coin dwindles to near worklessness.

00:33:52.780 In other words, the cost of nickel and copper to be used in those vehicles is being driven

00:33:58.280 beyond reach. So to clearly contrast, a profit is possible. Dimes cost just $5.76 to make,

00:34:05.620 but they carry a $0.10 face value, delivering them in a tidy $4.24 profit per coin.

00:34:14.680 The nickel's enduring paradox, $0.05 in name, nearly three times that in cost,

00:34:19.700 exposes deeper governmental dysfunction, while commodity spikes and legal rigidity beat more

00:34:25.240 common-sense-driven solutions by using cheaper metals or rounding to $0.10. The nickel should

00:34:31.420 join the penny in obsolescence, its melt value actually exceeds six cents, and phasing it out

00:34:36.940 with similar rounds to the nearest dime could reclaim tens of millions of dollars more for

00:34:42.020 taxpayers. Experts push for cashback incentives or slow elimination, but Washington's tradition's

00:34:47.640 one out for now. Every time you hear nickels jingle in your pocket, remember, real fixes need

00:34:52.620 Congress, not taxpayer subsidy. Until then, the nickel will keep rolling at the taxpayer's expense.
