00:00:27.820 imagine very few thought it was real. For one thing, social media is famously full of manufactured

00:00:34.020 images created for who knows what purpose, mostly political, using AI. They're not real.

00:00:41.160 And this one seemed especially fake because it was supposedly shot in Lebanon.

00:00:49.200 And there was a war going on in Lebanon, and this is an Israeli soldier. Now,

00:00:53.700 we know a couple of things. One, what's happening in Lebanon is critical to the security of the 0.95

00:00:59.900 state of Israel. And we know that because Israel is also partnered with the United States in a

00:01:05.780 war against Iran, which is critical to its national security. Of course, taking out the famed 1.00

00:01:11.080 Iranian nuclear program is essential for the existence of the state of Israel. 0.97

00:01:41.840 do something like this because they had a lot else going on and it was pressing Hezbollah or as

00:01:58.060 Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terror militia, had been attacking Israel,

00:04:14.780 Obviously, that's why there's so many happy Christians in Israel and in the territories Israel controls.

00:04:20.940 Well, before any of those questions could be answered, the Israeli media jumped in with their concerns.

00:06:02.440 The problem is that American evangelicals might find out about it.

00:06:05.500 But thank heaven, there is a major American evangelical news outlet completely devoted

00:06:10.920 to the protection, support, and promotion of the state of Israel, and it's called CBN,

00:06:15.740 Christian Broadcasting News.

00:06:17.660 And here was their take on the smashing of the face of Jesus.

00:06:25.120 I mean, it's disturbing and it feeds into narratives that people have been creating

00:06:30.260 around Israel that may not be accurate, right?

00:06:34.860 You have people saying things about Israel and the way that Israelis and the government

00:06:39.900 is allegedly treating Christians and other religious groups.

00:06:43.380 And then you see an image like that and it's very easy to assume, oh, look, all of those 0.87

00:06:47.760 people who are spewing conspiracy theories or other ideas, they may be telling the truth.

00:06:51.880 But what we have to be careful of, and I think we've seen this a lot in American culture, in cancel culture, we've seen it in countless examples of assuming, particularly actually when you look at police officers in this country, right, that one act is somehow emblematic of how every police officer acts.

00:07:11.340 It's the same thing here. One act that one soldier does is somehow emblematic in people's minds of what every IDF soldier is doing. Well, there's no evidence that that is the case, right?

00:07:27.960 to not assume that there's a widespread problem

00:07:47.100 about attitudes in Israel toward Christians or Christianity,

00:07:51.260 assuming that it does makes you a liberal engaged in cancel culture it's a lot like attacking white

00:07:58.960 cops after the george floyd hoax it means you're part of the problem as christians we need to be

00:08:04.360 very careful not to jump to conclusions you'll notice however that there's no effort to ask the

00:08:11.380 most basic of all questions which is how did this happen and what's going to happen to the guy who

00:08:16.560 did it. If this happened in the United States or any other country, what would happen? If, for

00:08:23.720 example, an American soldier broke into a synagogue in this or any other country and, say, burned the

00:08:32.940 sacred Torah scrolls, would people be getting up on TV and say, let's not jump to conclusions here?

00:08:39.460 It doesn't mean there's a problem. We don't have to ask why he did it. We're just going to let

00:08:44.000 his commanding officer figure out some kind of punishment, and it's fine. And by the way,

00:08:50.300 you're engaging in cancel culture if you want to know more. Well, of course, that would not be

00:08:54.460 the reaction. If an American soldier broke into a synagogue and burned a Torah scroll,

00:09:01.280 he would be severely punished, severely and rightly punished. You can't desecrate other 0.54

00:09:07.840 people's religious symbols. That is totally wrong, and people who do it should be punished.

00:10:33.560 of behavior in recent years. So, for example, October 7th, 2023, Hamas launches an attack

00:10:46.400 on southern Israel, famously kills a bunch of civilians. It's bad. Everyone says it's bad.

00:10:54.700 And almost immediately, the government of Israel moves into level Gaza, from which these attacks

00:11:01.080 came. Now, in Gaza is a small but long-standing Christian community. I've lived there since

00:11:08.560 Jesus, and they were killed too. Christian churches were bombed intentionally multiple

00:11:17.720 times in Gaza. Christian parishioners were murdered by the IDF in Gaza. A mother and

00:11:26.320 daughter were shot to death by an Israeli sniper in a churchyard in Gaza. And the reaction in the

00:11:33.620 United States, well, there wasn't any reaction in the United States. In every single case, Israel, 0.99

00:11:38.620 in order, denied it happened. Then when confronted with proof that it happened because dead people

00:11:45.740 are pretty easy to verify because they're dead, said, oh, it was an accident. We'll look into it.

00:11:54.700 who was punished? Nobody. In no case was anybody punished for blowing up churches and murdering

00:12:02.020 Christians in Gaza. At one point, an Israeli tank fired an artillery shell into a cross on top of

00:12:10.340 a Christian church in Gaza, as if it couldn't get clearer what the point of this was. The point was 0.99

00:12:15.600 to take down the cross because the cross is so offensive, apparently. And that's the point at

00:12:20.980 which Christians in the United States, 0.97

00:12:54.300 What's going on here? And of course, if they'd asked, nobody did. And those who did were

00:12:59.080 immediately denounced as terror supporters. But anyone who asked would have found the truth,

00:13:06.460 which is these are consistent with attitudes toward Christians in Israel, not by all Israelis,

00:13:13.360 of course, not by every government minister in Israel, of course, but by a lot of them.

00:13:18.240 the loathing of Christianity is absolutely real.

00:14:35.260 religious schools, the plus sign is not used in math. The plus sign, you know, that connotes

00:14:41.740 addition. Why? Because it looks like a cross. And that's considered too offensive for the eyes of

00:14:49.360 schoolchildren, and so an inverted T is used. That's a fact. You can look it up. There's only

00:14:54.400 one other instance we've seen of this in the world, and that's in ISIS-run madrasas, where

00:15:00.420 the cross was also considered offensive. This is not true in any normal Muslim country. 0.98

00:15:49.980 churches and to hurt individual Christians. And just keep in mind, within the context of the

00:15:55.340 Middle East, Christians are non-aligned. You can't call a Christian an Islamist because they're not.

00:16:01.860 they're not Islamic, they're Christians. And they follow a religion that does not endorse war,

00:16:08.500 just the opposite. And so you would think that if you're the Israeli government, the last people you

00:16:14.080 would ever want to bother, irritate our Christian Arabs, because they could potentially be on your 0.94

00:16:20.500 side. And yet poll after poll of Christian Arabs shows the main threat that they perceive to 0.98

00:16:27.540 themselves and their families is not the Arab Muslims who live next door to them, but the

00:25:39.700 bears no resemblance to their description of it at all? A country of people, or some people anyway,
