00:00:19.760 I think it would come down to precious metals.

00:00:22.340 I hope we don't go cashless.

00:00:24.460 I would say land is a safe investment.

00:00:27.020 Technology companies.

00:00:28.180 Solar energy.

00:00:28.700 Robotic pollinators might be a thing. 1.00

00:00:31.800 A wrestler to face a robot.

00:00:33.480 That will have to happen.

00:00:43.400 Dispatches from Soviet Britain. 0.68

00:00:49.740 The year was 1981 and Marina was excitedly filling out her application

00:00:54.640 to join the chemistry faculty of Moscow State University.

00:00:57.780 For a girl from an industrial city in rural Ukraine,

00:01:01.160 the opportunity to study at the best university in the Soviet Union was a dream,

00:01:06.060 although her ambitions were met with suspicion by many around her.

00:01:09.480 But Marina was bright and seemingly destined for the top. 0.99

00:01:12.920 Little did she know that she was seconds away from destroying her chances of a successful application.

00:01:17.880 What the hell are you doing?

00:01:19.460 Her brother-in-law asked, peering over her shoulder as she went through the form. 0.58

00:01:23.660 What do you mean, middle class?

00:01:25.700 He said, exasperated.

00:01:27.640 Marina may have been smart academically, but she was young and naive. 1.00

00:01:32.140 Clueless about the social realities of the communist society she lived in,

00:01:36.260 Marina was proud that her parents had managed to secure good jobs,

00:01:39.900 despite coming from peasant farmer stock.

00:01:42.460 Her mother was a teacher while her father worked in a factory.

00:01:45.100 Listen to me very carefully, her brother-in-law implored in an authoritative tone.

00:01:51.060 Your family is working class, and so are you,

00:01:55.080 he said with the air of someone imparting wisdom to the next generation.

00:01:59.420 Dutifully, Marina scrubbed out her previous answer

00:02:01.820 and wrote in the only correct response in the class background field.

00:02:06.340 Workers and peasants.

00:02:07.600 If she hadn't, she almost certainly would have been denied entry into Moscow State University,

00:02:12.900 never met my father, or given birth to me a year later.

00:02:16.480 The Soviet Union was a society which believed in uplifting the oppressed

00:02:20.100 and tearing down their oppressors,

00:02:22.080 and it was willing to do as much social engineering as was necessary to achieve these lofty goals.

00:02:27.520 Last week, Britain's Labour government announced that the civil service internship program

00:02:31.760 will only be available to those from a working class background.

00:02:35.160 Thanks to the genius of Sakhir Starmer,

00:02:38.160 the child of a self-employed plumber or a train driver making £80,000 a year

00:02:42.300 will finally have the opportunity to join the civil service,

00:02:45.860 while the offspring of nurses, teachers and junior doctors who make half that

00:02:49.400 will be rightfully denied the unjust expansion of the ill-gotten privilege.

00:02:53.980 By coincidence, that same week, the Online Safety Act came into force.

00:02:58.680 Introduced by the last Conservative government and implemented by the current Labour government,

00:03:02.620 the Act purports to protect children from harmful content.

00:03:06.760 Meanwhile, Section 179 of the Act makes it a criminal offence to say something false

00:03:11.240 that causes non-trivial psychological harm,

00:03:14.900 while Section 44 gives a government minister the ability to change censorship rules

00:03:20.020 without parliamentary scrutiny.

00:03:22.260 Online platforms will be legally forced to abide by their decisions.

00:03:26.080 Videos of protests outside migrant hotels and other harmful content 0.93

00:03:30.500 are already being censored by social media platforms,

00:03:34.040 as the law stipulates fines of up to 10% of their global turnover

00:03:38.340 and criminal prosecution of their members of staff.

00:03:41.720 WhatsApp and Signal have already warned that the British government

00:03:44.600 is also seeking to access your encrypted chats.

00:03:47.740 Children are, of course, not remotely protected by any of this.

00:03:50.880 Demand for VPN apps, which allow users to pretend they're accessing the internet

00:03:54.620 from a different country, has surged in the last couple of weeks

00:03:57.820 as people seek to circumvent the restrictions.

00:04:00.820 Far from protecting children, the government is in fact pushing them

00:04:04.260 into the unregulated internet with gusto, as this brilliant article explains.

00:04:09.100 In the meantime, the government is launching a new policing unit

00:04:11.940 to monitor social media for early signs of protest activity and dissent.

00:04:16.720 While the Sovietization of Britain continues at a rapid pace,

00:04:20.100 one area appears to have been neglected.

00:04:22.720 The one good thing about the communist society my mother grew up in

00:04:25.980 was that it at least came with the benefits of authoritarianism,

00:04:29.400 stability, safety, and the prevention of disorder.

00:04:32.460 In modern Britain, by contrast, petty crime is effectively ignored,

00:04:36.420 while tensions caused by large-scale illegal immigration

00:04:39.380 and the perception of two-tier policing are at fever pitch.

00:04:43.280 Few remember this now, but shortly before the riots last summer,

00:04:47.120 a brief clip of a police officer stamping on a suspect's head

00:04:50.180 in Manchester Airport was released on social media.

00:04:52.660 It was, we were told, a case of police brutality,

00:04:56.480 and since the suspects were Muslim, it was also racist.

00:05:00.020 The usual suspects in the media and on X went into meltdown about our terrible country.

00:05:04.560 It was only later that the full video and details of the incident were released,

00:05:08.480 which showed that the two men had in fact assaulted armed police officers,

00:05:12.680 breaking a female officer's nose.

00:05:14.600 The man who did this was found guilty last week.

00:05:18.060 I don't expect he will get anything like the prison time most British people would want him to,

00:05:22.200 but my point is something else.

00:05:24.660 We keep being told that some mythical far-right is stoking tensions in this country.

00:05:29.400 But who actually is it that lies about the police being racist

00:05:32.700 when they're just trying to detain incredibly dangerous and violent people?

00:05:36.440 Who is it that covers up racially aggravated, i.e. racist crimes like grooming gang rapes?

00:05:42.140 Who is it that thinks people should be treated differently

00:05:44.700 because of their skin color, religion, or social class?

00:05:47.340 Social engineering is a disaster that has proven to destroy social solidarity and cohesion the world over.

00:05:54.800 Britain must return to the pursuit of colorblind, classblind meritocracy and justice for all. 0.81

00:06:00.260 If it does not, no amount of social media censorship can stop the ugly consequences

00:06:04.840 of dividing the country against itself.

00:06:19.800 The news doesn't just tell you what's happening.

00:06:22.420 It so often tells you what to think is happening.

00:06:24.900 And these days, the biggest red flag isn't what's said, it's what gets left out.

00:06:29.720 That's why I use Ground News.

00:06:31.480 It's the only site and app that compares coverage from across the political spectrum

00:06:35.860 and highlights which stories are being ignored entirely.

00:06:39.660 See for yourself at ground.news slash trigonometry.

00:06:42.920 Their blind spot feed is one of my favorite features.

00:06:45.760 It surfaces around 20 stories a day that are being overlooked by either the left or the right.

00:06:50.720 It's a simple but powerful way to track media bias in real time.

00:06:54.700 Like this, NIH scientists recently published a declaration

00:06:58.420 criticizing Trump's cuts to public health research.

00:07:01.480 That's a major move.

00:07:02.980 And yet, only 2% of the coverage came from right-leaning outlets.

00:07:07.640 A new study found that 2024 saw the most armed conflicts globally since 1946.

00:07:13.320 A staggering statistics.

00:07:15.000 But you would have missed it if you'd only read left-wing news sources.

00:07:17.980 Ground News gives you the full picture.

00:07:19.960 Headlines, ownership, bias ratings, and context.

00:07:22.960 So you can actually understand what's going on, not just react to what you're told.

00:07:27.020 Head to ground.news slash trigonometry for 40% off their unlimited advantage plan,

00:07:33.440 the same one we use.

00:07:34.780 And start thinking for yourself.
